Chapter Text
Kaeya saw Diluc crying.
Once.
When father died.
But weeping?
NEVER.
What is Kaeya to do?
The weeping was... Real, raw.
Loud.
It wouldn't stop!
Kaeya tried everything. Words, smirks, hugs, a cup of water.
No water stopped the weeping!
What is he to do?!
He was ready for an attack, a Pyro in his face! Ready for death, for angry Diluc!
Instead of anger there was weeping.
"Diluc, come on, please stop crying!"
That's how he found his brother, a polar opposite of his element.
No sparks of fire, only incoherent sobs.
"Can you please tell me what happened? I swear I will help!"
Kaeya wasn't in Mondstadt for two weeks because of his mission. WHAT HAPPENED WHILE HE WAS GONE? WHAT DID HE MISS?!!!
"Come on, let go of that wet from tears pillow yours," Kaeya begged, trying to push the darn thing away from blocking the face of the "weeping maiden". "Diluc!"
His brother looked at him.
For the first time in hours of crying into the pillow!
Finally!
ATTENTION!
"So... what happened?"
Who happened?
Who does Kaeya need to kill today to bring Diluc BACK TO NORMAL?!
The feeling of victory was short-lived.
The second of silence was destroyed by sobbing.
With no Pyro in the face.
Kaeya felt scared.
He needed help.
He called for help to the Dawn Winery.
Help turned out to be useless.
Diluc was inconsolable and Diluc, Diluc in his right mind, at least, was right.
The Knights of Favonius were inefficient.
Kaeya and Jean were inefficient.
Diluc's exhaustion, meanwhile, was.
He sobbed himself to sleep.
Kaeya hoped to talk with brother in the morning. He should calm down by then, right?
WRONG!
On the next day.
The raw sobbing.
Continued!
Kaeya was ready to kill.
He just needed to know who.
* * *
Day two and Kaeya still had no clue what to do.
Good news, Diluc stopped sobbing.
Bad news, Diluc stopped sobbing!
The silence was deafening.
Especially, on the day three and four and five.
Diluc would just lie in bed and talk to nobody.
Kaeya tried to push him out of there.
ZERO LUCK!
Diluc, suddenly, sobbier then ever but also SUDDENLY MUCH STRONGER THAN EVER PUSHED HIM AWAY EVERY DARN TIME!
Again.
What did Kaeya miss?!
And what did Jean miss?!
Everything!
"He was fine..." she mumbled in excuse for her incompetence.
Nonsense!
"Does Diluc looks fine to you?!'
Jean shook her head.
Kaeya almost cursed.
He and Diluc weren't close in years! He can't console the red-head!
But that doesn't mean he won't try!
* * *
Day two, week two, fucking even two months later!
Diluc was still sobbing and Kaeya was getting deaf.
Diluc was a mess, Dawn Winery was a mess too.
Kaeya felt hopeless.
He tried every trick in the book.
Diluc won't talk! About his problems! Especially about his problems!
Nothing would make him do that!
Threats, begging, crying, kicking in the butt...
NOTHING!
Kaeya felt like a fool with his butt hurting after Diluc whooped him in return.
They had their funny moments.
But the sobbing was ugly and it was getting uglier every day.
Until finally, finally, finally...
The reason behind the raw screams was revealed.
Kaeya was ready for everything.
Diluc, a mess, with hiss hair a mess, his clothes a mess, showed him mess that started the whole mess.
His Vision, his Pyro Vision looked like trash, so broken it was to pieces.
Kaeya was ready for everything.
Except for that.
At the sight of his brother's broken Vision, something inside Kaeya broke too.
It was hope.
