"Prince Diluc has returned from his latest campaign," Rosaria drawls. She is leaned against the wall, openly spinning a throwing knife between her fingers. "Victorious, of course. Against those beastly Abyss monsters."
Kaeya pauses mid-step, his face carefully neutral. "Why would you think to inform me of that?"
She stares him down... then shrugs. "Just thought you might like to know he returned with all limbs intact."
"Should I be happy? He's my rival for the throne. I have better things to do than fret over his safety."
She shrugs loosely again. "I mean, I thought you'd be disappointed. Not fret over his safety."
i.e., For his uncle's sake, Kaeya, in a bid for the throne, pretends to be an alpha. After so many years of deceit, it would be pure hubris and delusion not to expect their schemes to come crashing down.
