Chapter Text
3rd person's POV
Marcy had woken up a few seconds before her alarm went off, and once it did, she quickly turned it off, before getting up and getting ready.
After she took a shower and brushed her teeth, she brushed her hair and straightened it a bit, before staring at herself in the mirror.
With a small sigh, she touched up her hair a bit more, and adjusted her hoodie, before slinging her backpack over her shoulder and leaving the house.
Her school was a walking distance, so she made it not too long after, and saw that quite a few students were already there, and bustling through the halls.
She looked around before walking straight forward and to her locker. She quickly opened it and went to put her backpack away but taking her essential school items out. She took her headphones out, and turned off the Paul McCartney song.
She turned around, but before she could leave, she froze, once something caught her eye, rather, someone.
A pretty brunette girl had walked by her locker, and she couldn't help the way her cheeks heated up and her heart fluttered. And she wanted to say something, but she forced herself not, not daring to utter a word.
That'd be absurd behavior for little miss perfect.
She shook her head, and went to walk away, but just as she did, she bumped into the girl, which made her books fly out of her hands and fall to the floor.
They both stumbled but the brunette quickly steadied Marcy by grabbing her hand, which made her weirdly flustered, she ignored it, and quickly knelt down, the other girl did too at the same time, which made their foreheads lightly hit one another's and made a small thud.
They both winced and lightly grabbed their foreheads before looking at each other.
"Sorry, sorry! I didn't mean to!" The brunette quickly yelped before gathering Marcy's books from off the floor.
The raven-haired girl was too dazed by this girl that she barely heard what she said, and before she even knew it, the other girl had got up, and she quickly got up too.
The brunette sheepishly smiled and handed the books over to Marcy, which she took, and their hands grazed each other's lightly, and Marcy's cheeks heated up, but she didn't dare acknowledge it. But just as soon as their hands touched, they were soon away from each other's.
"Again, I'm sorry, um...?" She said and trailed off for her name.
Marcy didn't know why, she wasn't social at all, but for some reason, she was quick to tell her, "Oh! Um, Marcy, my names Marcy!"
The brunette nodded with a smile on her face, "I'm Anne, I'd love to talk more but I gotta go, see ya!"
She sent her one last smile before quickly leaving, and Marcy let out a small breath.
Whatever that interaction was, it was bizarre, and Marcy knew it, but she couldn't quite place her finger on why it was.
She brushed off the strange interaction and went to her first class, with her head held high, and she made it just on time.
She took a seat and put her books down. It was the first day of her freshman year in high school, she wasn't really nervous, she always got good grades, and she made sure of it.
She never let her own interests overthrow it, not even video games, because she found it selfish if she did, and her parents seemed to urge her to only have A's and nothing less, which she was fine with, it was an easy thing for her.
She sighed and looked around, seeing some familiar faces, but most of the people were unfamiliar to her. While she was looking around though, she hadn't noticed someone plopped down in the seat next to her, and was waiting for her to notice.
She looked around a bit more which made the person next to her raise an amused eyebrow, and they leant back, and that's when Marcy finally turned to them.
Her eyes widened as she was a bit startled, it wasn't just any person, it was the pretty girl she had seen earlier, who was grinning right across from her.
Her cheeks heated up as she tried to stammer something out, "O-Oh, uh, hey— um, Anne? Was it?"
Anne smiled slightly and said, "Yeah, that's me! And I couldn't ever forget you, Marcy."
She looked down as another blush was forming. Anne was worried she somehow made her uncomfortable and she quickly said. "Um, anyways, aren't you the head of the student council?"
Marcy's blush faded after that and she looked up with a nod, she was neutral about these questions, they didn't necessarily bore her, but they didn't make her ecstatic either.
"Ah... Well, you know what they say, smart girls are always the cutest, am I right?" She said with a playful smile.
Marcy fought back a smile as she looked away, which only made the brunette softly laugh.
"Who ever says that?"
Anne shrugged and said, "Well, I don't know, but hey, you prove that statement, so,"
Marcy flushed red as Anne gazed at her, but before she could say anything else, the teacher started speaking, which made Marcy quickly pay attention, but the brunette's attention still stayed on her, and Anne couldn't help but smile.
Marcy herself was confused on these new and bizarre feelings she felt around this girl, but whatever it was, it was making her distracted, and distraction wasn't good.
Focus! I can't risk falling from my throne.
She nodded and stubbornly stared forward, ignoring Anne's gaze on her, and the way her cheeks heated up at the thought of the brunette.

3rd person's POV
The teacher continued yapping away as Marcy would listen intently, even though he wasn't saying anything important since it was only the first day of school.
Anne rested her head on the palm of her hand as she smiled while gazing at the other girl, Marcy ignored this even though she felt her obvious staring.
"Anyways, all you have to do today for this class is fill out a worksheet of getting to know the person next to you better!"
Marcy tensed up at that, already realizing what that meant, as Anne eagerly got closer and said, "Looks like it's you and me, Marcy."
The raven-haired girl gulped and looked away, which made Anne laugh and say, "Don't worry, I'm not gonna mess up your grades or anything."
Marcy frowned at that as she furrowed her brows, was that really what she was known for? A person who only cared about their grades and nothing more?
She met Anne's gaze, but she soon realized Anne didn't mean any harm, and only sent her a warm smile which made her cheeks heat up and she quickly tore her eyes away.
She knew what she was feeling, not too well, but she's seen it in shows and books, the effortless smiles, the blushes, and the flustered feelings, and the loving looks.
It was love, but she refused to accept that.
Love is something I don't even know!
I don't like this girl, I can't like this girl.
Straight hair, straight A's, straight forward.
Straight girl, little Miss perfect, that's me.
She let out a small sigh before forcing herself to come back to reality, and looking at Anne, who was staring at her in concern.
"Marce? You okay?" She asked as she leaned in.
Her eyes widened as she realized how close they were, she could feel Anne's breath on her, and it made her nervous, and she locked eyes with her again, and a silence fell.
Anne opened her mouth to say something but Marcy flushed red once she realized something, "Wait, did you say Marce?!"
"Um... yeah, why? Do you not like it? I'll stop calling you that if you don't!" She quickly said.
Marcy quickly shook her head and grabbed the other girls hand to reassure her, "No! I-I actually don't mind it,"
Anne smiled at that and locked eyes with her again, but her eyes drifted back to their interlocked hands, which made her freeze and slightly flush red, which Marcy assumed was embarrassment.
Marcy quickly retracted her hand away and rubbed the back of her neck, but Anne's eyes softened.
"Um... sorry about that," She murmured and didn't dare meet the other girls eyes.
Anne smiled but shook it off, "No, it's fine. I didn't mind."
Marcy hesitantly looked into her eyes as Anne smiled, and she only gulped at that.
She was already getting too close, and this other girl had a nickname for her already, this wasn't what was supposed to happen, she was supposed to be Little Miss Perfect, not over here being flustered over a girl she didn't know for that long.
