I don't like you, but my cat does

Summary:

DamiRaeWeek22 Day 2: College AU. It was supposed to be a one time thing. Until it wasn't. Damian was nice to her, but what took her off guard was how nice he was to her cat and now, Raven's heart was beating fast and her knees were trembling everytime he was around.

Work Text:

It was supposed to be a one time thing.

Until it wasn’t.

And even when they started that nonsensical relation in the name of searching for some “stress relief”, this was never supposed to happen.

Their first time happened in the driver’s seat of his car, with her barely taking the time to pull up her shirt, and him just sliding her panties to the side and thrusting himself up inside of her.

They had known each other, barely, for a few months, but they hardly shared more than a few looks across campus. And maybe one or two greetings, and a small, very small, chat at the bar near the university.

The night they got together, it was all because their best friends ended up wasted before 9 PM, and he was kind enough to offer a ride to drop off her and Donna. But right at the door, her stomach betrayed her and made the most horrific growl she'd ever heard, leaving her wanting to be buried six feet under.

But he said nothing at all.

He only looked at her with a response of: “Let’s go grab some dinner”. Maybe because she wasn’t expecting that offer, she ended up just obeying without hesitation, and climbed right back into his car. He didn’t laugh nor joke about her embarrassing moment, so she then found herself listening intently to what he had to say, and she discovered that he was not as unpleasant as his frown made it look.

It probably had everything to do with the two glasses of wine she had with her pasta, and the fact that she had a very low-alcohol tolerance, but she soon found her cheeks flushed red when her name dropped from his lips for the first time that evening.

Damn, he's hot. Has he always been this hot?

She thought to herself, as a sudden wave of heat took over her body with every second longer she spent at his side. Discovering parts of him she never would have believed if Donna and Jon hadn't gotten so drunk that night.

Lucky for her, Damian felt just the same as she did.

And as soon as she slid on top of him in the car, his hands were quick to touch everything they could and more. Being as eager as she was, they let their bodies reach for that delicious release right outside her building.

Only two days passed until she found herself in the back of his car, with fogged windows, and her stockings and panties thrown somewhere she could not care. His hands running over her legs and hips, and him thrusting hard and fast. Making her feel wild and free as she screamed his name at the top of her lungs.

That same night, he took her to his apartment.

Before they even knew what they were doing, they started meeting every Friday at 5 PM at his place. It worked for both of them. It was mutually beneficial, they said.

No feelings involved, just incredible sex right before the weekend, so it would not get in between their other activities.

It worked so well until that moment.

Damn it.

“Hey, do you want s….”

Raven had just stepped into her room, coming back from the kitchen where she was making some after-sex tea, just trying to be a nice host.

That was the first time Damian was at her apartment, sure he had taken her there, but she never actually invited him in. It felt too personal for her to share such intimate space with someone she was just shagging.

But when he called her earlier before their appointment, she couldn’t say no. Not after he was so attentive to her. He even bought the brand of tea she liked so much despite her barely staying any longer than needed.

Her mind would have never imagined that agreeing to have him at her apartment would have led to the picture in front of her. A magnificently chiseled, half-naked Damian, covered only by his really tight boxers, kneeled on the side of the bed. His hands open like claws over the sheets, imitating the same pose as Nevermore, the black cat in front of him.

“Am I interrupting?”

None of them moved a single hair.

“We are hunting.”

“Miau.”

The cat meowed in agreement as if stating the importance of their sparring. Raven just stood there, observing the position of both creatures, and still not believing what her eyes were showing to her. Eventually, giving a quiet, step back. Fearing that any sudden movement would break that strange moment.

He probably drinks his tea without sugar.

Was the only thing Raven managed to elaborate as she sneaked out of her room, back to the kitchen, still trying to decide what that picture had provoked in her.

~

“It’s still raining.”

Damian appeared in the living room just a few minutes later, fully clothed, and his eyes focused on the window.

“There’s some boiled water left if you want a cup of tea.”

From the corner of her eye, Raven saw Damian nod and enter the kitchen. He looked comfortable there, which was something she didn’t expect. Not that the apartment was ugly. She loved the place she and Donna had built up over the last 2 years. And despite having two very different styles, they both managed to create a modern-relaxed-comfy place, and she was proud of it. But it was obvious it was far from being Damian’s style.

Perhaps their apartments were some kind of analogy of how different they both were. Neither in a bad way, just different. She knew it well, that was the reason their arrangement worked so perfectly, and she was more than happy with it. However, for some reason, it made her content to have him there, getting to know another part of her silly life.

“Miau”

Nevy appeared on the back of the couch, taking Raven by surprise.

“Ah, now you are back.”

The cat meowed again, sliding through her shoulder and chest until it melted on her lap.

“How’s your situation going?”

“Not good.” Damian said from the kitchen. “Would you mind if I stay longer? My house is still plagued.”

“Wasn’t your brother at your house?”

“He is.”

“Oh.” When he said his house was infested, she really thought he was having some bug-problem or something. It probably would never have crossed her mind that he was referring to his brother. She knew he had a big family, but they never spoke enough to reach more into those kinds of themes. And she felt curious about it, about him and his life outside the bedroom. “Do you not have a good relationship with your brother?”

“I have a good relationship with him, and the rest of my siblings and extended family. I appreciate my family just as much as I appreciate my time away from them. My feelings towards them does not take away the fact that they can be annoying 24/7.”

“Your family sounds delightful.” The tease in Raven’s voice stole a smile from Damian’s face, and he was thankful he was alone in the kitchen as the thought of Raven meeting his family crossed his mind. He knew for sure his family would love her, she was just perfect and…

No. Don’t go there.

He scolded himself as he walked back into the living room.

“If you like crackheads.”

A giggle escaped from her mouth, and her eyes gleamed as her hand tried to cover the squeaky sound she had just made. Damian concluded that he liked her laugh, perhaps too much for his own good.

“Oh, you can be delightful too, I'm sure.”

“I am delightful, I don’t know why it takes you by surprise.” Damian placed his steaming cup of tea on the small table, right next to Raven’s empty cup, as he sat down next to her. Nevermore then ran to his side, bumping and rubbing his head against his leg.

The action made Raven’s laugh disappear and her eyes narrowed.

“What did you do to my cat?”

“What?”

“You’ve been here for less than 2 hours and he’s already chasing after you, playing with you. It took me about a week to convince him to sleep in my bed. I didn’t even know you liked cats.”

“Why wouldn’t I like cats?”

“I don’t know, you usually hate everything.”

“Only the stupidity of the human race. Animals are smart, loyal, soft, and in the case of cats, they have a lot of self respect, and will always put you in your place.”

“Sounds like you.”

“Nevermore is very good company.” His fingers played with the cat’s forehead.

“He almost never plays with me like he was doing with you, you know? He only attacks and runs away. Are you sure you don’t have some catnip on you?”

“You should know, you just saw me naked in your room.” Raven's eyebrows raised as she blushed, not really knowing how to respond to that.

“I-I…” She turned her face away. Damn it. She hated when he’d make her stutter like that. Sometimes it felt like it was some kind of game that he was playing and always winning somehow.

“You talk too much.” Raven turned her head again, ready to answer back, not wanting to hold up a single word, but all her words vanished when soft lips overtook hers in a demanding kiss

And just like that, she forgot about everything else. Whatever happened before, or was to happen after that moment, it didn’t matter. Not when he was kissing her like that, as if the world was going to end any minute.

He always made her feel like that, like she was on fire and only his touch could calm her burning soul. Her hands tightened on the collar of his shirt and started pulling it over his head, eager to feel his skin against hers again. When it was tossed on the floor, Raven stopped herself as she noticed that stupid smug grin on his face. And then there was that aggravating tightness she felt in her chest that made it hard to breath every time he would look at her as if he really liked her.

“You are not delightful at all.” She wished she would’ve sounded more convincing. She was telling nothing but the truth, but his lips were quicker and were marking his way down to her chest and, oh, did he know how to make her knees tremble.

”If that’s what you think...” Raven fought to stifle a moan when Damian trapped one of her nipples through her shirt while his hand snuck past her pants and into her underwear. “Then I guess I’ll have to show you how delightful I can be.” Reaching her core to find that most tender of flesh, she whimpered in anticipation as he slid one finger inside of her, stroking her slowly with a featherlight touch. Taking his time with her while drowning her moans with his kiss, and smiling with eager satisfaction.

Perhaps just for this time, she could let him get away with it.

~

“So, when did Damian leave last night?” Raven looked up from her cell phone screen.

“Ah, I’m not sure, around 10, I guess.”

“Interesting.” The tone in her voice alerted Raven, knowing well her friend was about to speak her mind on a certain matter.

“What?”

“Oh, nothing, it’s just weird that he stayed for so long.”

“It was raining.”

“He has a car.”

“He had an issue at his place.”

“He could’ve gone somewhere else.”

“I won’t invite him again if it troubles you.”

“I have no problem with him, or your situation, at all. I’m just saying how odd of a situation it is for someone who is only supposed to be 'friends with benefits' with a really good looking dude.”

“We are not friends.”

“Of course you're not, he was only cuddling with your demon cat.”

“He was! Right? I still can’t believe it.”

“Meow”

Nevermore climbed to the kitchen counter, announcing his presence as if he knew they were talking about him. Raven stared at him as he licked his paws and she narrowed her eyes.

“Traitor.”

Donna laughed.

“I think Nevy has already picked for you.”

“Picked what?”

Donna rolled her eyes and walked away.

“Picked what?”

She said, looking back at Nevermore who just stared back at her in return.

“Miau.”

~

“Hey, buddy. How are you?”

There it was again. Raven turned from the door and saw Nevermore already in Damian’s arms, rubbing his little head against his chest, hearing him purring loudly.

It was Friday afternoon.

They were not supposed to be there, but Raven had left her computer at home and needed to send something for school, before she could throw herself into an afternoon full of pleasure. So there they were.

With her cat being the only one being pleased at that moment.

At first, Raven was annoyed. Nevermore, her 5 year old black cat, who she rescued from a dumpster when he was 8 months old, and was the owner of what little money she had, had just walked past her directly into her fuckbuddy’s arms. And was purring at him!

Purring at the dude she had only just officially met just once, about a month ago.

The dude she had been having casual sex with for a little longer than that.

He was nothing special.

Yes, he was nice, too honest and harsh all the time, but he smelled good, and he was very neat.

He was the kind of guy that makes sure to throw all his clothes at the same spot in the room whenever they were about to have sex, in order to avoid having them splayed all over the place. If she would’ve known that tendency before sleeping with him, she would’ve probably assumed he was some lame, boring guy, but, oh boy, was she wrong. He knew what he was doing, every single time.

But that was not the best part of all.

He didn’t ignore her after sex, they had actually shared a few nice afternoons. Both of them laying around on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea. One time he even put together his own coffee tasting for her. Their time together was always comfortable and nice, but not too overwhelming as to make their agreement turn weird.

They barely knew the essentials about each other, and yet, Raven was sure she could trust him, even in the worst scenarios.

No, he was not special at all.

And yet, while Raven repeated the words over and over again in her head, her heart twisted inside her chest as she watched Damian carry her beloved cat in his arms like a baby. Even bringing their faces together just enough so that their noses would touch each other gently.

Nevermore liked him, and god help her, she liked him too.

“Is everything okay?”

His voice woke her up from her thoughts and she realized she was being observed by the two green-eyed creatures. “Ah, yes. Let me go to my room really quickly.”

After a few minutes, Raven came back with her laptop in hand, finding the pair on the couch.

“Did you send your paper?”

“Yes, just let me answer another email and I’ll be ready.”

“Donna went to Metropolis with Jon, right?” Damian said as a statement, rather than a question.

“Until Sunday afternoon. Wh-”

Damian stood up and kissed her hard, not letting her finish her sentence. His kiss was fierce and hungry. Not at all the kind of kiss she was expecting from a guy who was just cuddling with her cat, but somehow, she liked it way too much. Especially after his hands ran all over her body, marking a burning path on every inch of her skin.

“Dami.”

Raven felt embarrassed of how desperate and low her voice had sounded at the feel of his lips sliding down her neck. She was not sure when she had started calling him that. When she thought about it, she felt a bit distressed as it felt too intimate, but he never complained. Instead, it seemed to encourage him even more, just like in that very moment. He suddenly grabbed her by her ass and lifted her onto the kitchen counter. Her legs wrapped around his hips and for a brief moment she could feel his erection pressing against her core, making her ache with need for him.

“I think…” He took the hem of her top and removed it from her body in one swift motion. “... we should stay here for today.”

“Mhm.”

Raven barely had the mind to nod when he unhooked her bra and left her breasts naked for a brief second before taking one in his mouth. Swirling his tongue around the tip and sucking, letting it go painfully slowly, as his other hand got rid of her skirt.

Damian leaned back a few inches, just enough to be able to see all of her. He paused a moment, taking in the vision in front of him, his emerald eyes just staring at her in wonder, and for a split second she felt overwhelmed by the look upon his face. She was reminded of her nakedness when she felt a slight breeze caress her back, causing a chill to run through her body.

“You look beautiful.”

“And you look like you are overdressed.” Raven said, pulling him by the neck to kiss him while her hands scrambled over his shirt, trying her best to rid him of it. “You know this is where we eat right?”

The words left her lips almost in a whisper, and she could feel the heat crawl up her neck and reach her cheeks under his curious gaze. Feeling her body crave for his touch and a burning fire consuming her from the inside out.

“What do you think I’m about to do?”

Before she could realize what he said, her back was against the cold granite of the counter and her eyes on the ceiling. She complained at the sudden change of temperature, but the bother was soon forgotten as Damian slid her panties off her and buried his head between her thighs.

Heavens help her.

~

Her body was sore.

Friday afternoon became Saturday, and then Sunday.

It all happened in the blink of an eye, with their bodies twisted in the bedsheets.

That was the first time they actually spent a night together, and she found herself too comfortable with the idea. He was so warm, his sole presence brought so much peace to her sleep.

She recalled waking up in the middle of the night, finding his arm wrapped tightly around her waist, and on his chest, just a few inches below his face, Nevermore slept peacefully.

The picture warmed her heart, and for those two nights, it felt like she needed nothing more in her life.

But days had passed by. And she couldn't get used to the lonely bed she now found herself in. Raven buried her face against the pillow he had used, still saving the last trace's of his essence.

Spice and citrus.

Nevermore climbed to the bed with a loud meow, kneading at the sheets on Raven’s chest.

“You can’t sleep either?”

Nevermore had never liked people.

He tolerated Donna, and only loved her and her mother. Even then he was still a really proud cat that would measure his love. But with Damian he was a different cat altogether.

It only took Damian feeding him once to have Nevermore following and meowing at him all over the place. On Sunday, when he was leaving, Nevermore started screaming at him, trying to climb up Damian’s leg.

He had to take him in his arms to prevent Nevy from running away.

Do you want to come with me?

He had asked, and the damn cat meowed back with such vigor. Raven held no doubts he knew exactly what he had been asked.

“I miss him too.”

The words slipped out on their own. And then an overpowering rush of emotions burst free inside of her, as a sudden realization hit.

Fuck.

~

I don’t think we should continue seeing each other.

Almost as soon as the text was sent, the seen had appeared below, but it took a few seconds until the typing appeared. It took him two minutes to answer back.

Can we talk about it?

No.

~

“Raven?”

Who was calling?

Raven opened her eyes, annoyed.

“Are you okay?” Donna asked, looking at her from the back of the couch. Her eyes looked around the room as she regained her consciousness, noticing Karen was also there, looking worriedly at her.

“You just woke me from my sleep, you tell me.” The intruders exchanged a look before going back to Raven.

“You do know it’s Friday, right?”

“Your point?”

“Is Damian here? Do you need us to go?”

Donna looked around, searching for the boy, but the place was empty.

Raven just sat up, rubbing at her eyes.

“I will not see Damian today, I have other plans, and I’ll appreciate it if you don’t ask about it.”

“Did you guys fight?” Karen asked, receiving a dreadful look from both girls.

Raven sighed and stood up.

“I’m going to continue my nap in my room, if you don’t mind.”

Both Donna and Karen stood in silence as their friend left the room, confused about why Raven was there, and what had happened to make her so wary about Damian.

“Did you know about this?” Karen asked.

“Clearly not.”

“Meow.” Nevermore appeared out of nowhere on the living room table.

“You know about this?” Donna asked the animal, looking into each other's eyes. Then suddenly, Nevermore just jumped over Donna, going straight to attack her hand.

“Let go of me!”

~

The music was loud enough to keep Raven from hearing her own thoughts, and for that day, she was thankful for it. She was not ready to admit it other than to herself, but cutting her ties with Damian hit her more than she thought it would.

For a moment, she had foolishly believed she was just catching feelings for him, no more than a silly school girl crush. And to find out the ugly truth was a real hard slap in the face!

And, that precisely, was what she was avoiding. The ongoing pain and distraction that sentimental relationships would cause, all the doubts, the rush of emotions, it was not for her. She appreciated her tranquility, and to have been down for two weeks over her fuckbudy was enough.

So there she was, along with Donna and Karen, at a stupid Friday night party.

“We toast cause our Raven finally agreed to go out with us!”

The joy in Donna's voice cheered her up. Both her and Karen had been dead worried about her for the last couple weeks, since they never saw her like that. All weak and sad.

Not that she didn’t have any bad experiences in the past, but she liked to keep her emotions to herself, at least most of them. She liked to have control over what to share and show, and to whom.

They deserved to have the funny Raven tonight, she thought to herself, as she grabbed a beer from the drink table.

“Thank you. I would like to take this opportunity to apologize. I know I've been a little cranky but, I am now okay, thanks to you. So cheers.”

They walked through the room, greeting a few people on the way, until they reached a corner far from the blaring speakers. Raven took a look around the room, thinking how she needed to clear her mind, and that was the opportunity to be herself again.

“Donna! Donna!”

In a matter of seconds, the blond girl jumped from one corner of the room to another.

“Hey! Cassie!” Both girls hugged. “You remember my friends, Karen and Raven.”

“Yes, of course, how are you?”

They answered with a low good, trying to cut the conversation there.

“What are you doing here? I didn’t know you were in town.”

“Oh, I’ve been busy.” The realization of the tone on her cousin’s voice came to Donna, and she smirked back at there.

“Go, girl!” She said, bumping her hip against her. “So then, I shouldn’t be worried you are alone tonight, right”?

“Oh no. Hopefully I’ll give you some updates later.” She giggled before saying her goodbyes. “Nice to see you, ladies!”

And just like that, the girl vanished in the room that had become crowded in a matter of minutes.

“Seriously, what does your family feed you? It’s not fair you all look like models.”

Donna choked a laugh and followed to sincerely compliment her friends in return. They hung out for a while in their own little world and just laughed and chatted for a bit.

Yes, that was what she needed.

Or so she thought.

“Crap, is that Damian?”

At some point, the three girls had formed a small triangle, with Raven giving her back to the door. So when Karen’s words reached her ears, she froze in her place while Donna jabbed Karen’s arm with her elbow.

“Ow!”

Karen’s complaint didn’t last as she and Donna starred in foreboding at Raven, her lips were drawing a thin line while her eyes were wide open. It was confusing but scary at the same time with every second she spent in silence.

“Donna.” The named one nodded with fear. “Is Damian WITH Cassie?” She asked, calmly.

It was a forgotten memory where she onced heard Donna talking about her cousin dating this Gotham rich boy when they were in their second year. Even when she first met Damian, the thought of his dating experience probably crossed her mind but she didn’t care at that moment.

And of course, she had just spent the last month with her mind occupied, thinking about all the places she wanted to put her mouth on Damian’s body next… but she never spared a thought about his old ex-girlfriend.

Maybe she was overthinking, but she felt it in her gut…

“It seems like it.”

… And she was right.

“That bastard.” From Karen’s view, Raven's teeth didn’t pull apart an inch, and she had no doubt her eyebrow had just started twitching.

They barely knew sad-Raven, but for sure they held no knowledge about angry-Raven, and she was sure she didn’t want to.

“Shots! We need shots!” Karen flipped her hand in the air trying to purify the ambience, before running to get as many shots her hands allowed.

There was no time to fake an empowering speech when Raven swallowed two tequila shots like water down her throat. And just for the sake of preventing her from having the rest of them, Donna and Karen hurried to drink theirs.

“No wonder he never tried to talk back. I said no, and he just disappeared as if nothing ever happened. Of course he was busy sticking his tongue through Miss Perfect over there.”

“Come on, Rae, let’s dance or take a walk, you can’t stay on the couch all night.”

“He didn’t deserve Nevy’s love.” She said with a sigh and a deep sadness in her tone, a sudden moment of clarity reached her mind, looking back at her friends. “You know what? I have to go. You two stay, I’ll call a cab outside.”

And just like that, Raven left without giving her friends the chance to insist she stay or do anything about it, trying to avoid being seen like that.

Sad and drunk.

What a pathetic combination.

Unfortunately for her, the eyes that had been stuck to her back the whole evening caught her leaving, and followed her from behind.

The cold air caressed her cheeks and a feeling of calmness filled her body. It was a good idea to go back home.

“Cellphone.”

Still feeling the burn of alcohol running through her veins, she started to say outloud the instructions to call for her cab. Lost in her thoughts, she took a few steps back, turning to the house but with her face stuck to the cell phone screen. Preventing her from seeing the man standing behind her, until it was too late.

“O-oh! I’m sorr… Damian.” It was as if her brain shut down for a second, where the only thing she could do was breathe. But it was the sudden heat of his essence that brought her back to earth. “Hey… shh shhh. Don’t touch me.” She said, taking a big jump back to keep her distance from him.

“Raven, are you drunk?” The obvious concern in Damian’s voice only managed to make her feel angrier.

“No, I am not drunk.”

“You stink to tequila.”

“I am not drunk. You know what I am? I am over you.” She said, pumping her chest with the pride of her own lie.

“What?”

“I said I’m over you, just as much, or even more, than you are over me with Miss S…” The words started to twist on her tongue, and Raven couldn’t find the way to say the last name of the girl. “Miss Whatever her name is.”

“What the hell are you talking about?”

“That you didn’t seek me out because you had someone else to do.”

“Raven, are you feeling jealous?”

“Ha! Of course I'm not. I cut you off, remember. I’m out here living my best life.”

“Yes, you did, without any explanation or chance of talking, and yet I’m the one who’s being yelled at.”

His words felt like daggers of truth to her resolve.

He was right.

She dumped him, and was now acting like a silly little drunk girl, making a scene over something she had caused herself. Sober Raven was definitely going to be mad and ashamed of her decisions later. Even at that moment, sober Raven was screaming at her to take what was left of her dignity and leave.

But this was the time of drunk Raven. Which meant it was “honest time”, like it or not.

“My fucking cat likes you.”

Even with the alcohol in her, it took everything in Raven to say the words. But for Damian the sentence didn’t answer, nor did it explain, anything before that moment.

“Well, yes. I like your cat too.”

“Exactly. My cat likes you better than me.”

“And what does that have to do with anything?”

“Everything! My cat doesn’t like people, and yet he keeps staring at the door like he’s waiting for you, and sleeping on the pillow you slept on and… I’m starting to like you because my stupid cat adores you so much and I don’t like that. He’s been my excuse to keep boys out of my apartment and my life, but for some reason, he likes you.” Her hands covered her face the moment she felt color creeping over her cheeks, feeling embarrassed and exposed. She was not feeling better after putting everything out there, but now the words couldn’t stop falling from her lips. “So, I cut you off, and apparently it was a good decision because now you are with your ex again.”

“You seriously think I’m here with Cassandra?” He sounded offended, and it didn’t go unnoticed to Raven.

“I don’t think so, I know it.” Raven said, still with her face covered.

“You think I am a womanizer that goes from woman to woman just like that? Am I that kind of guy to you?”

Oh, no. Now that the words were spilling out of his mouth, she suddenly felt ashamed of how wrong it sounded.

“You could be.” That was not how the conversation should’ve turned. Her hands fell to her sides but her body spun on her heels, giving her back to him. “You are handsome and sexy, and you're an amazing cook, and you like animals, and are incredibly good in bed, and oddly even better company to sleep with.”

“Well, I am not a womanizer, and even if I were, I only have eyes for one person now.”

“Yes, yes, I know, stop bragging about it.”

“You, Raven. I have feelings for you.”

Raven's mind turned blank for a split second before the words started to replay over and over again in her head.

“What?”

With fear in her heart, she turned just enough to see him.

“I’m sorry if I wasn’t clear enough, but I wasn’t aware of how much I truly like you until you cut me off. And I did want to call you. I stood outside your apartment on two occasions, but I thought you wouldn't want to see me, so I left. I wasn’t planning to bother you here tonight, but when I saw you leaving I couldn't resist myself, I just wanted to see you, and talk to you. Especially now that I think that maybe, just maybe, you feel the same as I do.”

Raven’s eyes opened wide and a knot formed in her throat. All the times she had swore to spit in his face in the last hour were evaporating in the air now, along with the alcohol in her blood. Her eyes blinked repeatedly, without losing sight of his eyes, not trusting completely in her senses.

What did he just say?

“You are drunk. I’m going to take you home.”

Damian lifted her over his shoulder but Raven didn’t complain, she was still trying to process his words. Damian’s car was not that far away, and soon she found herself sitting against the passenger seat, as flashbacks from their first time together ran through her mind.

Her heart was already beating fast, but not as much as in that very moment. Where she felt it was going to burst out of her chest if Damian looked at her for longer than a second.

Did he say he liked her?

A tingling ran through her fingers, probably the alcohol still inside her, but she knew she was completely conscious by that moment, which made her even more nervous. Everything she said or did from that moment on, it was all her, and she was not sure she was ready to accept whatever fight was happening inside her head.

It was the sound of the driver's door closing what woke up Raven from her dream. The smell of spices and citrus gave her the sensation of being drunk again, but it was a different kind of drunk. It felt hypnotizing.

“You like me?”

She asked without daring to look at him, only hearing the depths of his breath for a second that felt eternal.

“I like you, Raven.”

That was the moment her head turned to him, and his eyes showed no doubt nor hesitation.

It felt, again, like their first time, except that this time felt better. They knew better. And she was sure now.

Before Damian could say anything else, Raven took him by the neck and crashed their lips together. Passing her leg over his hips, he wasted no time rolling her skirt up with one hand and bringing her closer to him with the other, smiling like an idiot between kisses.

He was going to demand a vocal admission later, cause this time he was not going to leave her side.

Ever again.
