Chapter Text
Anya Forger was having a bad day.
Her flight got delayed by 2 hours, then it started to rain when she finally reached Ostania, and then she realized halfway the flight that she forgot her Chimera stuff toy she always brought on planes.
Oh and she vomitted before and after the flight.
She heavily sighs.
She never did well with planes.
...
Anya had an "article" to write about regarding the condition of Ostania over the past few years.
Well technically a report regarding the development and condition of Ostania for the spy agency her father worked in, where she works in now (her journalism job is to cover the fact that she's a spy).
They left the country after Operation Strix had ended, but Loid and Yor are now happily married and they're now a full loving family who know each others identities.
Loid and Yor had quitted their jobs and now work as a chef and an actual city clerk respectively. Though Loid still somehow manages to keep in touch with the spy agency he used to work with as Anya works there, and Yor even visits the Garden still to check on everyone her free time.
They're now living in London, living peacefully (sort of) while hiding their identities, still taking the Forger name, but they live their life in low sight.
Anya had a few friends, two to be exact, their names were Kiara and Rose, the only ones who were comfortable around Anya in her previous school in London, and they've been friends for 10 years to be exact.
Anya's life has been going pretty smoothly, her job's paying well and she's been doing good with her two friends, oh and she finally got a flip phone with her salary.
But even so, Anya sacrificed a lot.
She sacrificed losing her previous (and first) best friend in the whole world (she did it for the sake of Becky not knowing the truth). She loved Kiara and Rose, it just didn't feel the same as she was with Becky.
She left the school she loved so much.
And lastly, she sacrificed losing her childhood crush she had "forgotten" over the past 12 years.
Honestly? Nothing's felt the same ever since Operation Strix had ended.
And Anya Forger's life felt so... dull for some reason.
...
Anya struggles as she carries a heavy backpack filled with junk she brought on the plane, not knowing it was open and drops a shit ton of things out of her bags.
"Shit." She curses under her breath as she kneels down to pick up some of the things that fell out of her bag. "I hate my life."
She heavily sighs just when her flip phone starts ringing. She quickly grabs the phone from her pocket to answer the call from Kiara, one of her very best friends.
"Hey Anya!" She exclaims as she greets her, and Anya lets out a small smile.
"What's up?" She asks Kiara at an attempt to sound ethusiastic.
Kiara frowns. "You good? That doesn't sound like the typical Anya Forger we know and love." She asks her friend in concern.
Anya nods. "Everything's great, just some things didn't go so great."
"Then not everything's great." Kiara mutters. "Y'know Anya, it doesn't hurt to say what's bothering you, really." She says, rolling her eyes a slight bit.
Anya chuckles. "I swear I'm fine, just a little worried since, you know, I'm in Ostania of all places." She grits her teeth as she places the last thing in her bag before attempting to close it with one hand.
Kiara shook her head. "Anya, you've got nothing to worry about! Just relax! Act like you've forgotten everything!"
"But I haven't forgotten anything at all." Anya frowns.
Kiara sighs. "That's why I said to 'act', pretend. You do that 'pew pew disguise' shit for a reason, Anya." She says as she giggles.
Anya smiles. "Thanks Kiara, tell Rose I said hi."
"Got it. Bye bye Agent Starlight." She winks at her phone before ending the call.
Anya smiles.
She really can rely on them when she needs to.
She pulls her travel suitcase behind her as she carries her backpack while running to the nearest taxi.
"Edens Spring Hotel please." She yells to the driver as she tosses her bags into the trunk of the car before aggressively closing it, hopping into the backseat of the car with her purse swinging on her side.
"Roger that Ma'am." The driver replies as he starts to drive away to the hotel with the GPS.
He seemed to be in a call though, at least that's what Anya realized.
"Oh for fuck's sake, Ewen, we are NOT gonna go out and drink, otherwise Bossman's gonna go drunk again and, well, y'know." The driver said before ending the call so abruptly. "Sorry ma'am, my stupid friends, they're--"
"Ewen?" Anya asks.
Those names he just called.
Bossman?
Ewen?
It can't be...
"Uh, yeah. We've been friends for a long while." The driver says as he whistles out a tune.
"Sorry the name just sounded familiar so I thought it was someone I knew." Anya nervously laughed it off as she shrugs in her seat.
He raises an eyebrow. "Uh okay, that's cool-- wait." He looks at the mirror to see the customer and notices it.
Her eyes were green, just like Anya's.
Her hair was a cotton candy pink, exactly like Anya's. She even had those horn ornaments Anya had, at least that's what he remembered.
"You... you look familiar." He says as he stops at a stoplight before turning to check on Anya, and they both made eye contact and realized.
"YOU-- ANYA FORGER?!"
"E-EMILE?!" They both shriek at each other and immediately shift their gazes to other things before speaking.
"You... you're back?" Emile asks Anya nervously, and Anya nods.
"Ye-- yeah, only for one month though! Just a business trip." She awkwardly laughs, and Emile purses his lips.
"It's been a while since we've, uh, met." He shrugs, and Anya nervously nods.
"Yeah." She bluntly replies before silence fills between them once again. "Uh anyways, how's the others?"
"They're, uh, good, I guess. Nothing's been the same ever since you left though." He says with a small frown on his face, and Anya's eyes widen before softly chuckling.
"Surprised you guys still remember me, I expected you all to forget me." She says with a smile on her face, and Emile laughs.
"Us? Really? Like hell we'd forget you. You left without saying a word, it really left a scar on us." He responds, and Anya sadly smiles just when they both start driving off again.
"How's Becky?" She asks, nervously playing with her flip phone as she waits for Emile to respond.
"She's good, she really misses you." He says before turning the car to a left.
Anya frowns. "As much as I want to be with you guys, I really can't..." she says with a guilty feeling in her heart.
Emile sighs. "Yeah, ever since what happened, things haven't been the same. It'll take a while to heal, but I think the one's having it hard are Becks and Bossman, especially after you left." He said sadly.
"I feel so guilty leaving."
"But it's for the best, right?" He says before stopping the car in front of the hotel.
Anya sadly smiles as she gets out of the car and opens the trunk to grab her bags.
She swings her backpack to her side before walking with the rolling suitcase being pulled behind her to the window of the driver's seat.
"Thanks, Emile, but please don't tell them we talked. Glad to see you again." She says her farewells to him.
Emile imitates a lip zipping movement. "My lips are sealed, Ma'am. Enjoy your stay. Glad to see you too." He smiles at her before lowering his car window and driving away.
Anya sighs. "First day here and I've already encountered an old friend. No time to get sentimental though." She shook her head before walking into the hotel with her bags.
...
Anya walks into her hotel room and immediately starts scanning the place for hidden cameras.
From the bathrooms, even underneath the lamps and closets, she triple checked them all, and eventually found one underneath the nightstand.
"Morons could've hid this camera better, decided not to. Not too sloppy, Agent Starlight, huh?" She chuckles to herself before throwing the camera onto the floor and crushing it with her foot, jumping all over it as it breaks and turns into dust made of glass.
She gets rid of the camera by placing it in a plastic bag and walks out of the room, tossing the plastic bag into the bigger trash bins outside the hallway.
She yawns as she rubs her eyes. "Damn, I think I need some coffee." She mumbles to herself before walking to the cafeteria of the hotel.
Upon arriving to the cafeteria, she hears a familiar voice and immediately hides behind a wall to sneak a peek at the person with the voice.
"Are you an idiot?! I said schedule it tonight! Do you need to cleanse your ears somehow?!" The lady seemingly yelled at her flip phone.
The person in the phone was speaking, but she seemed to shake her head in disbelief in response. "No, no, no! Tonight! T O N I G H T! Do I have to even spell it to you?! Puwah!" She exasperatedly sighs before closing up her flip phone.
She tucks her hair behind her ear.
She wore white clips on the right upper side of her hair, and had brunette hair. Oh she also seemed to be like a model...
Wait...
"BECKY?!" Anya silently shrieks, making Becky turn at the direction Anya called her name out before shrugging and turning back the other direction.
Becky eventually starts smiling at the man coming to her. "D'you get my drink?"
"Yeah, a Strawberry Latte. Honestly, you really like the color pink." He laughs in response, and Becky smiles while looking at the window.
"It's the color that gets me closest to Anya, y'know? Damian, I know you feel the same way I do, you miss her." Oh.
THAT GUY WAS DAMIAN DESMOND?!
He seemed to be in the waiter uniforms, though, Anya wondered why.
Though it made Anya's heart race, he grew taller, his eyes became prettier, he became so... matured.
Even his hair started shining.
Damian shrugs in his seat as he blushed. "Of course I miss her, why wouldn't I? Pretty sure we all do." He says as he curves his lips, attempting to smile.
Seems like they didn't forget her at all.
Becky smiles. "We all do, but I think she probably doesn't." Her smile slowly fades.
Damian frowns. "Come on, Becks, don't be like that. She probably had her reasons to leave." Damian sighs before standing up from his seat and fixing his uniform.
"Off to your job now?"
"Don't wanna get caught slackin', I'll be back at Law School later after this." Damian bluntly replies, and Becky nods.
"Alright, bye Damian. Good luck at work." She says as she takes a sip of the Strawberry Latte while admiring the view and breeze out the window.
Anya smiled seeing the two of them.
Firstly, they became close, that's honestly so surprising.
Second, they seemed to still remember her a lot, she really misses them.
And lastly, Damian is actually doing part time jobs now. Surprising of him, honestly. Oh and he's studying Law, maybe to become like his father and be a politician? Or maybe a lawyer?
The real question is: why is he even working a part time job?
She shook her head, maybe she shouldn't really think about it too deeply.
There was nothing really bad, she seemed to receive some intel from the conversation, though.
The worst part?
His part time job had to be in this fucking hotel she's staying at.
She sighs as she shakes her head. 'You're getting sloppy, Agent Starlight! Get a grip!' She thinks to herself before storming off back to her hotel room.
...
She throws herself onto the bed, her head laying on a soft pillow as she drifts off into her thoughts.
"I didn't get coffee..." she mumbles to herself as she stares at the ceiling. "Maybe sleep will do." She says as she turns her body's position to the right, preparing herself to sleep.
But her mind's awfully awake, thinking a little too much.
She wanted to run up to them and give them the biggest hugs ever, but she wasn't here for them.
She was here for a mission, and it'll stay that way.
No distractions, no anything, just the mission regarding the condition of Ostania.
"I miss the life I had here." She mumbles to herself before suddenly falling asleep, drifting off to dreamland with her thoughts filled with... whatever she dreamt off.
...
Her phone starts ringing into her ears, startling Anya as she woke up so suddenly.
She immediately grabs the phone and attempts to open her eyes to see where the ringing was from, and turns out it was an accidental press by Yor during her job.
Anya chuckles.
She keeps her phone next to her ear at a tendency to oversleep, and well, that's probably her biggest flaw as a spy.
She closes her phone and lets out a big yawn before rubbing her eyes as she attempted to keep herself awake.
"Good morning, Agent Starlight." She grins as she walks to the bathroom and cleans herself up before humming out the Spy Wars opening tune.
Yep, some things never change, she's still the silly little Anya Forger she is.
Aka. A Spy Wars nerd.
"I should get myself coffee, I've been begging for it ever since yesterday." She nods to herself before walking out her room and closing her door, wearing a purple hoodie and black jogging pants as a cover up.
Though, she looked lame, really.
She wears the hood of her hoodie to cover up her hair and hair ornaments as she walked. She really can't risk anyone noticing her, really.
She sluggishly walks the hallways of the hotel as she finally reaches the cafeteria.
It was 7 am, so no one she knew was surely going to be there, right?
After what felt like an eternity of walking, she finally was near the cafeteria, and was starting to quickly run to the cashier when she accidentally hits someone and falls onto the floor.
"Excuse me-- are you okay?!" The guy asks in worry as he rushes to Anya, and Anya sits up, avoiding eye contact with the guy.
"Y-yes I'm fine, thanks." She says as she was about to stand up when she suddenly steals a glance at the guy and freezes.
What.
The.
Fuck.
