Sometimes Piper hates that Mika is so pretty. Oh, she loves being able to watch the bartender, true. Her fiery red hair and soulful grey-blue eyes, her high cheekbones and sharp jawline draw her all sorts of attention when she’s behind the bar at Dugout. Not to mention her luscious ass, Piper would be remiss not to note. Yes, Piper very much enjoys getting to look at Mika. It’s everyone else getting to look at her too that Piper has a problem with. And, boy, do some of them stare.
Travis is the most harmless of them. Ever since that night that Piper and Mika pretended to be lovers (which they still laugh about), Travis hasn’t tried flirting with his favourite bartender. Not that his previous efforts counted for much, anyway. But he still watches her like a Geiger counter. He usually comes in once or twice a week for a beer, always at the bar and a few seats down from Piper. Travis is at least polite enough to nod at her before he spends the better part of an hour leching at her girlfriend. And, really, Piper thinks it’s sort of sweet.
What Piper doesn’t find as sweet are the mercs and traders that come in and leer. They look at Mika like she’s some sort of snack, and, golly, they must be famished . Piper knows logically that none of them could know Mika is spoken for. And even if they did, could she really blame them? No, definitely not. But it doesn’t stop her from accidentally tripping one here or clumsily spilling her drink on another’s boots there. She never claimed she wasn’t petty, after all.
And Piper knows Mika notices when she does it, too. Because sometimes Mika’ll wink at her or hide a laugh behind a drag of her cigarette. Which is why Piper gets pissy when Mika flirts back not five feet away from her. Yes, Piper knows Mika isn’t actually interested and that Mika would never really cheat on her, but part of Piper doesn’t know that. Especially when the object of Mika’s attention is an admittedly very attractive woman.
Piper drinks, but she wouldn’t really consider herself a drinker. A beer here or there, and her head is nice and fuzzy. But tonight, as she watches her girlfriend laughing at something that bitch two stools down says, she finds herself waving Yefim down. And Yefim, bless the man, has the foresight to bring her a whiskey-Nuka instead of another beer. He smiles at her as he slides it across the bar, and Piper isn’t sure if it’s out of sympathy or amusement. Either way, Piper scowls back.
“Do not worry,” Yefim says quietly. “Mika does this only for tips.”
“I know,” Piper mutters back. But she takes a long drink when Bitch leans in real close to Mika. Yefim chuckles a bit. Amusement, then.
“I will be nearby,” he says and taps Piper’s glass before attending to another patron. Piper forgets to tell him to not go too far, because now Bitch has her hand on Mika’s arm.
Piper lets out a scoff, much louder than she is intending, and it makes both Mika and Bitch look over at her. Mika cocks her head at Piper, a bemused grin on her stupid, pretty face. Bitch looks Piper up and down before turning back and whispering something in Mika’s ear. Oh, and the giggle it elicits from the bartender almost makes Piper shatter the glass in her grip. Bitch looks over at Piper again, and Piper swears it’s a challenge. But she’s not drunk enough to start a fight. Yet.
Now Mika whispers in Bitch’s ear, and she locks eyes with Piper the whole time she does it. So Piper glares right back, which only seems to fuel that shit-eating grin Mika has. Piper’s gonna get her back for this one. She knows just how, too. And that thought alone is enough to put a smile on her face, which seems to concern Mika more than the daggers she was getting not three seconds ago. Rightfully so. If Bitch notices, she doesn’t make it known. Instead, two long, delicate fingers with vexingly clean fingernails reach up to guide Mika’s chin back to face her.
But the fingers don’t leave, even when Mika is back to listening to Bitch prate on and on. Go ahead, try and kiss her, Piper thinks as she polishes off her drink. She’s not really sure which she’s addressing, either. God help any man, woman, or ghoul that tries to kiss her Red. But even God can’t help her Red if she tries to kiss them back.
Piper isn’t sure how long she’s been watching the shit show before her, but some of the bar flies start heading out. Dugout never really closes, but their departure usually signals everyone else to head home if they’re not staying the night. Piper is on the edge of her stool waiting for Bitch to take her leave (and definitely not because of the second whiskey-Nuka Yefim made her). She waits and waits, but still Bitch keeps blathering. Piper’s just about to get thirds when finally the woman stands. Come on, come on. She places a handful of caps on the bar, far more than the measly two drinks she ordered all night are worth. At least you got what you wanted, Red. Hopefully all you wanted, anyway.
But instead of turning around like she should, Bitch leans across the bar and kisses Mika on the cheek. Piper’s jaw falls with the rest of her right out of her seat and onto the floor. Which draws both of the other women’s attention, of course. Bitch actually has the nerve to help her to her feet.
“Maybe just stick to the beer next time, hun,” Bitch purrs with a wink. Piper jerks her arm from her grasp. She’s still not drunk enough to start a fight, but she’s definitely drunk enough to pick one.
“Maybe just stick to your own girlfriend next time, bitch.” Feels good to finally say the word aloud. Piper’s expecting fighting words back, but instead the woman just laughs.
“Well, well, aren’t you a little Molotov?” Then, to Mika, “See you later, Mikichka.” She winks at the redhead and gives Piper a lazy wave over the shoulder as she saunters out of Dugout. Piper hears Mika tut.
“There is no need for names,” the bartender says, her tone reflecting the smirk Piper doesn’t need to see to know is there.
“Oh no, ‘Mikichka?’” the reporter huffs back. She takes her stool again, and Mika moves across from her. “Tell me I’m drunk and didn’t actually see her kiss you.”
“You are drunk,” Mika laughs. “But Trina does kiss me. Just small one.”
“Just a- are you kidding me, Red?” Piper says and throws her arms in the air. “Do you think I care if it was ‘just a small one?’”
“I do not kiss her back, yes?” Mika is far too smug for Piper’s liking. But no, Red did not. “Come,” Mika says and waves for Piper to follow her. She calls to Yefim that she’ll be back in an hour or so, and he waves back. Piper stumbles off her seat and after Mika.
They end up in Mika’s room, and once the door is closed, Mika pulls Piper in for a long kiss. The reporter forgets she’s mad at her girlfriend for a minute and eagerly returns it before coming to her senses. Then she pushes the bartender away.
“Don’t change the subject,” Piper says, and Mika laughs back.
“I say nothing.”
“Exactly. Start talking, Bobrov.” And Mika considers it. She really does. But instead, she pulls Piper to her again and places light kisses along her neck.
“Can not you think of anything else you would rather my mouth do?” Mika whispers in Piper’s ear. Piper definitely hates how easily she turns to putty in Mika’s arms. Because, yes, she can think of many, many other things she’d prefer. She’s not letting the redhead off the hook quite that easily, but where’s the harm in letting her bang on, so to speak, just a bit longer?
Mika takes Piper’s silence as the “yes” that it most certainly is and continues her trail down Piper’s neck. It would be so easy to get wrapped up in those lips. But that would be giving Mika what she wants, and Piper will join the Institute before she lets that happen. So Piper pushes Mika away again, but her fingers stay twisted in the hem of her tank top.
“Off,” she growls. Mika obliges, but she wouldn’t have that smirk again if she knew what the other woman had in mind. Then Piper is on her knees before Mika, jeans already yanked down to ankles. Which, of course, does nothing to convince Mika that any of this is bad.
Without warning, Piper runs her tongue up Mika’s lips. The bartender gasps, and her knees buckle. Both hands grab either side of Piper’s head as she pulls the reporter closer. And Piper lets her for now. Her tongue dances against an already surprisingly stiff bundle, and she knows that if she delves lower, she probably wouldn’t need any water for at least a day. So she does, and Mika is whimpering her approval. After a couple minutes, Piper can tell she’s getting close. But not as close as either wants. Piper redoubles her efforts until Mika’s legs are practically shaking.
“Piper,” she moans. “I am-”
Piper pulls her tongue away from Mika. The bartender’s eyes snap open, and she looks to Piper in near panic. Now Piper is the one smirking. She stands and wipes her mouth with the back of her hand.
“Please, Pi,” Mika whines. But even her use of Piper’s pet name can’t save her now. Mika takes Piper’s hand and tries to guide it to herself. “I have need for you.”
“Oh? Do you now?” Piper lilts. She brushes the hand Mika holds against her ever-so-slightly.
“Yes,” Mika breathes.
“Maybe you can get Trina to help you out.” Better have a good answer, Bobrov. Your orgasm depends on it.
“Wha- oh, Piper, no. You misunderstand.” Mika steps closer, but the raven-haired woman maintains just enough distance. “Trina is old friend.”
“A special friend, I take it.” You can do better than that, Red.
“N-not what you are thinking. Trina is first person I- ahh,” Mika tries to say but is interrupted by another pass of Piper’s hand. Deep breaths, Red. “-first person I meet in Diamond City. She helps me learn-” Another glide, another moan. “-English better. She is like older sister.” Getting better, Red. But not quite there yet.
“Then why all the flirting?” Piper says.
“This is just Trina, no?” Mika aches, and she aches badly.
“The giggles, the looks in my direction?” So close, Red. Finish strong.
“I say her I have most gorgeous girlfriend. Can you blame her really for taking peek?” The faintest of touches, and Mika squirms.
“And the kiss?”
“It is just friendly, yes?”
“No. Try again.” Out of reach once more.
“She say we must make you jealous. It will be funny.” Mika lets out a pained chuckle. “It works.” Good job, Red. Piper squares herself to Mika. “Please, Piper.”
“Not so funny now, is it?” Piper whispers. Then she takes a fistful of Mika’s hair in one hand and cups her with the other. “Whose are you?”
“Yours. Yours only, Piper,” Mika gasps.
“Good girl.” And then Piper is on her knees once more, and Mika could cry at the things her tongue does. It takes all of fifteen seconds for Mika to come right in Piper’s mouth. And Mika thinks it’s over, but Piper wants to make her point clearer than the waters of the Capital Wasteland. So her tongue doesn’t let up, and she even adds her hand into the mix. Mika thinks she might die, or at the very least collapse from oxygen deprivation.
Her second climax hits her like a mini nuke. Mika’s knees finally give in, and Piper catches her as she stumbles forward. The bartender fights for breath in Piper’s arms. The reporter rubs her back up and down, gentle kisses to the side of her head. When she’s regained herself, Mika looks to Piper through hooded eyes.
“Did we learn our lesson?” Piper purrs. Mika slowly nods back.
“Da.”
“And what is that?”
Mika offers her widest smirk of the night.
“I must always make you jealous.”
Oh, Red.
