A Beary Fun Date

Summary:

The hottest stud in all of Inaba takes Teddie on a movie date, while Yosuke question his partner's choices in romantic interests.

Work Text:

"You're acting even more energetic than usual today, you excited about something?" Yosuke asked as he restocked the June's shelves with new products. There had been an unusual pep in Teddie's step all day. Now while Yosuke would admit Teddie was an energetic and happy go lucky person by nature, he couldn't help but notice that today that Teddie seemed more overjoyed by something. With the way he had been happily humming to himself at work all day and had an even bigger smile plastered over his face that usual it was clear he was looking forward to something good.

"Oh yes I'm so happy because I have a beary special date with a beary important person today!" Teddie eagerly responded with a huge grin on his face. He looked like he was on cloud nine right now with how happy he was.

Nearly dropping some of the products, Yosuke responded "You have a date?! Who are they?!"

He couldn't have heard that right, his ears must be clogged with junk because he swore he had just heard Teddie suggest that he had a date with someone. I mean there was absolutely no way that could be possible, any sane girl would've swiftly rejected him in a moment's notice. The girls of the investigation team had gotten so used to the bear's flirtatious nature that they had honed the skill of rejecting him down to a fine art, so there was no way he could be going on a date any of them.

"Oh! Let's play a guessing game to figure it out! Nanako taught me how to play it the other day and it was extremely fun!" The bear beamed.

"It's someone you know incredibly well, they're extremely dependable and they are always willing to help others out! They're also an extremely strong leader and they're so dashing that everyone in Inaba practically drooling over them wishing that they could be with them!" Teddie said.

Yosuke felt his blood run cold. No... that description could only describe one person, but if it was the person he was thinking of then that meant that Teddie was going on a date with...

"Sensei!" Teddie yelled when he saw his beloved walking towards him.

"I'm so glad you're here I couldn't wait any longer for you!" Teddie said as he tackled into Yu's arm from excitement.

"I'm happy to see you too Teddie," Yu said as he ruffled the top of Teddie's hair.

"Partner you can't be serious about this can you? Teddie's no normal human, he's a bear dude. A LITERAL BEAR! He goes rawr rawr! Do you really want to date that?" Yosuke asked while doing his best intimidation of a bear in the process to drive home his point.

Yu had not only everyone in the investigation team down bad for him, but as Teddie said he had the whole town of Inaba down bad for him as well. His natural charisma and helpful nature would have let him gone after anyone he wanted, so why the hell did he have to choose the bear of all people to be his date?

"I don't go rawr rawr! My rawrs are much more intimidating than that! It's more like a RAWR RAWR! You know?" Teddie corrected. He couldn't let Yosuke go around slandering his name like this it would ruin his fearsome reputation.

"I really don't know actually," Yosuke honestly replied. He felt like that somewhere along the lines they had got off track on the original problem here.

Getting back to Yosuke's original question Yu replied, "Of course I want to date him, there's a lot of things I like about Teddie."

"First, it's that he always fun to be around, you can never have a dull moment when he around." Yu said.

His partner was right about that, there certainly had never been a dull moment since Teddie had entered his life. The bear couldn't help but get himself into trouble wherever he went. His curiosity and lack of knowledge on human slang would always give people the wrong idea. He somehow always picked up on random slang he heard someone else say and just start using it without knowing what it really meant. Do you know how embarrassing it was for Yosuke to constantly apologize to June's customers for Teddie saying random shit to them all the time? Once he had to apologize to this poor old lady who was frightened by Teddie repeating "Watch me whip, watch me nae nae," as he constantly whipped and nae naed in front of her as she shopped. And if that wasn't bad enough Teddie once tried to Rickroll the whole store by playing "Never Going to Give You Up" by Rick Ashley on all the televisions in the electronics aisle of Junes. People had gotten so scared that they had thought that June's was haunted by a ghost that loved to Rickroll people. It had been a pain in the ass for him to go and individually shut all those televisions off.

"Second of all, if you haven't notice he can be quite a looker. It would be hard not to jump up on the opportunity to date some like that," Yu continued to say.

"Yep no matter if I look like a handsome stud of a guy, a beautiful charming girl, or a cute cuddly bear I'm absolutely irresistible in each and every form!" Teddie added.

That second reason seemed entirely subjective, but Teddie did win in the cross dressing competition, so I guess I can't completely argue with the fact the he would make a beautiful girl. Yosuke internally replied. The people had spoken and chosen what their hearts truly desired after all.

"Though one of the best parts about dating him is when he's in his bear costume, his soft fur makes him great to cuddle," Yu commented.

"You've... You've been hanging out with Kanji to much haven't you? That sounds exactly like something he would say," Yosuke replied.

There was no doubt about it, Kanji and his partner had spent so much time together that Kanji's love of cute and cuddly stuff had rubbed off on him. And Teddie was a huge cute cuddly bear by nature, so naturally there's no way his cute and cuddly loving self could resist a perfect opportunity to date someone like that!

"Anyway it's been nice talking to you, but we got to get going or otherwise we're going be late to the movies," Yu responded.

"Yep, Sensei's taking me to a lovey dovey romance movie where people kiss and do other stuff!" Teddie said as he continued to hold onto Yu's arm.

Lovey dovey movies this absolutely couldn't be good... Yosuke thought. He couldn't imagine the kind of trouble Teddie would get into there. He really hoped his partner would be able to prevent the overexcited bear from causing too much of a scene.

"See you later Yosuke, I'll come back home later, don't wait up!" Teddie waved and said as he held onto Yu's arm and walked alongside him.

All Yosuke could do was sit there dumbfounded, he wasn't sure what how to feel about his. On one hand he knows he should be proud for his partner for going out with someone he likes, on the other hand though he was feeling extremely pissed that the bear of all people had landed a date with someone before him. I guess you could say that today; every day was not so great at your June's for Yosuke.

....

Instead of responsibly using the hard earn money they earned from defeating shadows in their spare time to buy armor to protect themselves or buying stronger weapons, the two lovebirds decided to spend it on some overprice popcorn and soda they got at the concession stand that they could enjoy during their movie date.

For their date they had ended up deciding on a romcom film to watch since Teddie had watched a couple go to a movie like that in a show before and assumed it was only natural for every couple to go to one.

With popcorn buckets and sodas in hand, the two of them sat down in their seats as the lights in the theater began to dim and the film was coming to a start. The overeager Teddie sat at the edge of his seat wanting to get close as possible to the screen, while Yu on the other hand leaned back and relaxed in his chair. It's not like he wasn't excited to see the film; he was just more interested in seeing Teddie's reactions to the movie. Teddie's facial expressions were childlike in the fact they were always were complete honest about his true feelings. You could always tell what Teddie was feeling just by looking at his face, he had never tried to hide his emotions from anyone.

Yu liked seeing how Teddie so honestly expressed himself, he loved when the other boy's eyes lit up in joy at something, he liked how the bear would bounce side to side on his feet in dungeons to show he was happy to help out on the team, and he especially liked how excited he got when he'd hung out with Nanako and the whole investigation team.

Widening his eyes to make sure he didn't miss a single second of the film, Teddie couldn't help but get invested in the movie as he sat there. He had been living in the tv world as long as he remembered and never had many chances to experience seeing films like this. So it was always fun when Sensei invited him out to places like this.

And really what wasn't to love about this movie? It was moving to see how the two love interests who had a rough first time meeting each other eventually becoming such close confidants to one another that they were able to share their problems with one another and eventually rank up their relationship from friends to lovers. The movie was so good that Teddie had loudly bawled into Sensei's shirt, disturbing many other people watching the movie in the process, when the two love interests revealed their tragic backstories to one another.

Though one scene in particular had caught the bear's eyes as he watched the film, and it was the one wear the heroine was leaning her head on her new boyfriend as they sat together. Was that something all couples did? He wondered. Now that he thought about it, he had recalled that he had spotted Yosuke's parents doing something like that one time, so it must be.

Teddie briefly glanced back at Yu before he looked back at the screen. Since the two of them were on a date he wanted to do it with him too, so doing his best to mimic the couple. Teddie slowly put his head on Yu's shoulder as they watched the film. It took the other teen a few seconds to realize what he was doing, but when he finally got it he wrapped his arm around the bear's back to show him that he liked it by holding him close.

Ahh! Sensei was not only cool and reliable, but he was as comfy as a giant pillow as well! Teddie thought to himself.
He was almost as comfortable as... what did he hear those group of anime merch ridden teens at June's call it? A body pillow! Yeah that was it! This is what those people must have meant when they love to hug their body pillows all night long! If they were anything as comfortable as Sensei was right now, he could totally understand that. He wanted to stay by Sensei's side like this as long as he could, since he felt safe and protected knowing that the other teen was by him like this.

His eyes we're suddenly fixated on the big screen in front of them. Teddie decided to intensely study the movie, since this was his first time dating someone there seemed to be a lot of ways he could learn how to act as a couple from the movie. He really liked Sensei and he wanted to make sure he was doing everything right in a relationship to properly show how much he cared about him. So he wanted to know everything a couple did together, so he could be the best boyfriend ever for Sensei!

And to do that he was going to need lots of nutrition to retain all this valuable information he was about to learn, so he continued to watch the film diligently taking notes in the back of his mind as he ravenously shoveled popcorn down his throat.

...

"Look at all those poor stuffed toys are trapped in there, as a fellow stuffed bear I must go in save them!" Teddie announced before trying to crawl into the claw machine slot that sat outside the theater.

Pulling Teddie away the claw machine before he got his golden head stuck in the slot, Yu quickly explained, "No, no, Teddie you have to play the game and win the prizes and only then they will be able to come out of the slot. You'll probably get stuck in there if you try to go in."

"You're right. I don't want to get stuck in there and mess up my adorable fur! That would be awful to deny the world my beauty like that," Teddie replied.

"But still there has to be a way to help my fellow stuffed toy companions. You're smart Sensei, so can you think of anything? Do you think we might have to score to be able to save them?" The curious Teddie asked.

"Well technically... we do need to score a lot to win them. There are a lot in there after all and it would probably cost a lot to get them all out," Yu replied.

"Scoring costs money!? I thought you just asked someone to score with you and you two did it? At least that's what happens in Yosuke's special nurse magazines' after all, the lady just asked the man to take off his pa-"

Cutting him off before he can scar anyone walking by Yu replied, "That's a completely different kind of scoring Teddie!"

"There are different types of scoring!? I thought there was only one way to score... It must be hard to learn how to score in every way possible." Teddie honestly replied. It seemed like there were still many things left for him to learn in the art of scoring.

"Actually I saw that the plushies in your room look similar to these one in here," Teddie stated, "This isn't your first time at one of these machines, so can't you bestow upon your wisdom and demonstrate how to score since you've done it many times before?"

"Okay I'll guide you. Here you just grab the handle like this" Yu said as he stood behind him and grabbed the other teen's hands to guide them towards the controller.

We're holding hands with one another! The bear internally beamed as he felt the other boy's hands on his own. He couldn't help but be overjoyed at this situation. His heart was racing from the way Sensei's chest was pressed against his back as they worked together to score as best as they possibly could.

"Then you move it like this so you're over the thing you want to grab and click the button when you're ready to drop the claw down and get it. Do it like this," Yu said as he used Teddie's hands to guide the claw over a Jack Frost plush and hit the button to catch it. The claw went down and snatch the Jack Frost and brought it back over to them and dropped it in the open slot.

After pulling the plush out Teddie exclaimed "Wow you really are the best Sensei! Today I've managed to get up close and personal with you and finally see you're scoring skills in action. I've never seen anyone do it with such ease and precision as you have. You truly are an expert on scoring!"

While the teen was flattered by the compliment, he did think it might be better if Teddie begun to use better phrasing since right now he was pretty sure everyone in Okina was staring at them right now due to the bear's loud exclamation of scoring.

"Now as your dashing boyfriend it is my job as well to win a prize from this magic gift box!" Teddie suddenly declared.

Unlike Yu who was an expert at this with how many times he had played in his free time, it took the bear a few times to get it right. He shoved coin after coin into the machine until finally after many trials and errors he won a cute stuffed bear.

"It may not be as adorable as me, but I'm sure this bear can have the honor of comforting you when I'm not around," Teddie said as he held out the bear towards his Yu in a proud stance.

"Heh, thanks Teddie," Yu said with a smile on his face.

Aaaah! When you smile like that Sensei I can't help but be absolutely smitten by you! Teddie thought to himself. Sensei had a warm big brother smile that he had probably gotten from spending so much time with Nanako, it looked very caring and dependable. He really was lucky to have an amazingly cool and awesome boyfriend like Sensei.

"Ah it's getting late we should head home, I'll walk you back to Yosuke's and your place so you don't get lost," Yu said. He really didn't want Teddie to roam free and get lost after all.

"It's over already?" Teddie was kind of bummed the fun date had ended so soon, but still Sensei was walking him home so I guess it wasn't too bad. He just had to do his best to make sure every last second with Sensei count!

....

"That was such a fun date Sensei! I never wanted it to end!" Teddie beamed as the two of them reach the Yosuke's parents' doorstep.

"I had a good time too we should go on another date soon," Yu replied. Hanging together today seemed fun for the both of them, and he couldn't wait for another chance to spend some time alone with Teddie in the future.

"Really? We should go somewhere else fun next time! We could head back to the beach again! It was fun swimming in the water when we went with everyone before! But some one on one time would be fun too!" Teddie eagerly responded.

"Yeah that would be fun let's head to Shirichi beach soon," Yu replied. He'd need to make sure to make a reminder of it on his calendar.

"Yay! We'll have so much fun when we go together!" Teddie joyously exclaimed.

"Actually being alone with you on Yosuke's doorstep reminds me of a scene I saw in a show once," Teddie suddenly said.

"Oh yeah why?" Yu asked.

"Well it's because there was a couple just like us that had just finished their date in the same way we are you see? The handsome boyfriend had walked her back home and before the woman entered her house she walked up to her boyfriend and planted a big fat smooch on her lover's face to prove she had a good time," Teddie explained.

"And well I want to have smoochy time with you too because I really love you Sensei!" Teddie put up his fists and exclaimed.

"Heh, yeah I really love you too Teddie," Yu said as he put a hand on top of the other boy's head. He couldn't help how he liked how unabashedly straightforward Teddie could be about his feelings for others.

"So does this mean it's time for smoochy smoochy?" Teddie asked.

"Yeah it's time for smoochy smoochy," Yu affectionately replied back with a grin on his face.

The two of them leaned in to eliminate all space between them. Feeling the press of their lips against each other for the first time, this really was a perfect way to end such a wonderful date.

...

After sighing dreamily Teddie said "Love truly is a beautiful thing Yosuke."

"Sounds like you two had a good date," he was doing his best to be supportive even if he found it pretty weird that his partner was dating a bear.

"Yes we not only kissed, but Sensei taught me to score as well!" Teddie excitedly shouted.

"He WHAT?!" Yosuke shouted. What the hell was his partner doing to the bear on the first date of all things?! (Not that he was suggesting it'd be any better if it happened past the first date either.)

"I learned that Sensei is the scoring expert! He actually has lots of experience in it and told me there were many different types!" The bear eagerly said.

Extremely afraid to ask, but at the same time desperately curious to know Yosuke decided to poke the bear and ask "What... what kind of ways did he teach you to score?"

"Well he got behind my back and was very gentle and thorough with all the movements he taught me. He was naturally calm as ever since he had assured me he had done it a hundred times before, but since it was my first time so my bearmones were practically raging as he did it," Teddie confessed with a red face, "If he had gotten any more intense my stuffing might've burst from all the excitement."

"Whoa whoa whoa! Dude too much information!" Yosuke could feel himself getting mentally scared the more the bear went on. He had to put a stop to it.

"Where the hell did he even teach you that kind of stuff anyway? I thought you two were going to the movies," Yosuke continued to say. To think his partner would lead Teddie to do something like that when they were supposed to go to the theater. That was totally messed up man.

"We did go to the movies, he showed me how to score in front of the theater," Teddie bluntly said.

"You did in public with everyone watching!?" The teen shouted out. What kind of sick freak was Yu?!

"Well yeah that was where the big machine that imprisoned all my fellow stuffed animals was at, we couldn't score without it," Teddie explained.

"Teddie... when you mean score, do you mean you "scored" a prize from the claw machine," Yosuke replied.

"Yeah, Sensei got me this cool plush! If you press it's hands it has a funny saying." Teddie said as he pulled out the Jack Frost doll and a small "hee-hoo" erupted from inside it when he pushed down on the palm of his hand.

Breathing a sigh of relief, Yosuke responded "Oh thank god I thought you were talking about something else..."

"Hmm? Did you confuse my scoring to one of the many other ways of scoring Sensei was talking about? He did say there was a lot of different types, but what kind were you thinking about?" Teddie innocently asked.

"It's not important," Yosuke replied. Really he wanted this conversation to be over.

"Were you jealous Yosuke? Did you want to score with us too? You don't need to be jealous of us, I believe one day that Sensei, you, and I can all score together soon if we try are hardest!" Teddie passionately said.

Great, now that terrible image of the three of us scoring together will be forever etched into my mind. Thanks Teddie, Yosuke thought. He had never imagined living with the bear could be scaring in more ways than one.

"Teddie please I'm begging you just shut up and go to sleep," he did not have the energy to deal with any more talk of scoring tonight.
