To be Powerful

Summary:

What does it mean to be powerful? Why do we strive for power? And what exactly is a demon supposed to do in a world devoid of any real war?

A My Hero Academia fic where a martial arts master from another world is reincarnated as Midoriya Izuku.

Chapter 1: Chapter I - Mortality

Summary:

Alright, I am officially rewriting this fic. I kept trying to make do with what I had already written because I didn't want it to go to waste, but I think it's best if I just start from scratch if I keep what I want to do in mind.

I guess this means hiatus is over? Either way, please give me feedback! I am quite self-restrictive, and it'd be a lot less of a pain if I got confirmation from other people about certain topics like the setting (IE, stuff like medicine pills/spiritual beasts existing).

Chapter Text

The clashing of weapons rang out across a battlefield filled with bodies, all of them wearing the same uniform, felled by the same demon-like monster. Hair flowing wildly in the wind, the monster bent back and forth to parry, block, and dodge every hit that came his way with an almost inhuman sense of intuition. His sclera were an inky black, his once saffron-colored irises dyed a crimson red from his frenzy. His robes were dyed with dark and muted colors, the dried blood seeming almost natural among the subtle hues. Occasionally, a splatter of blood would add fresh detail to the apparel, rarely belonging to the monster that was dressed in them.

Sword art after sword art, fist technique after fist technique, the attacks of his opponents swarmed the demon’s world like the downpour of a storm, the monster managing to dodge each and every one despite its difficulty. Even as the downpour increased in intensity to that of a typhoon, the asura remained steady in his survival, mouth contorted in a fierce grimace, as his eyes burned with hostility, hatred, and a deep desire to win.

In the end however, despite his fierce attacks and desperation, the weapons of each member of the opposing force were plunged into his body. The endless ring of clashing weapons stopped as the demon coughed up thick blood, a metallic tang dying every corner of his mouth. Yet, despite the pain, the young man known as the Heavenly Demon still had enough energy for one last action.

“So this is the end, hm?”

The leader of the opposing force gave him a fierce glare, her eyes filled with nothing but hatred for the man in front of her.

“You dare act so casually? After all you’ve done?”

With bitter resentment dripping from his every word, the man replied.

“I’d think that such a tie between us qualifies me to use such language in the first place. We’re far from strangers, I’m sure you’d agree.”

With a scoff, the young woman shot back.

“Far from friends as well, don’t you forget. You’ve slaughtered thousands, butchered innocents like livestock, and you have the audacity to be so light-hearted!?”

The young man clenched his jaw, eyes burning with rage.

“So that’s it, huh? You hate me for killing innocents? No mention for what you’ve done to deserve such treatment then? For the crimes you committed against the cult, the innocents you’ve slaughtered? You of all people should know, given how you ambushed trainees and killed them all mercilessly for the simple reason of, in your words, ‘ neutralizing a threat’ !”

The woman’s bold expression faltered.

“I-”

In the blink of an eye, the Heavenly Demon ripped one of the weapons skewered through his body and launched himself towards the woman, sinking it in and through her chest as blood poured out from his open wounds. With expressions ranging from anger to horror, the woman’s companions rushed towards them as the two locked eyes, the demon seeing nothing but fear and pain in the gaze of his opponent.

Energy fading from his muscles, his hands fell away from the grip of the sword as he slumped to his knees, falling backwards onto his side as the ache of the weapons still inside his chest made his last moments ones of agony.

As the chill of death permeated his body, the Heavenly Demon passed away on a battlefield filled with the carnage he and he alone had caused.
