Work Text:
Cale and Alver were on a morning video call to catch up on each other’s lives, but Alver couldn’t help but be distracted by Cale’s revealed shoulder throughout the chat. Cale was wearing an oversized sweater and it kept slipping off his shoulder due to his poor sitting posture.
“You should… pull up your shirt,” Alver pointed out, unable to stand it any longer.
“I don’t want to, though?”
A smirk grew on Cale’s face. He had become brattier around Alver because it was too fun to tease his hyung.
“Do it or I’ll make you.”
“Oh, and how are you going to make me?” Cale asked. He propped his chin up on his palm, his smile lazy but mischievous. With his actions, the shirt slid down even more, showing more of his pale skin. “Hmm, hyung?”
Alver covered his face and groaned. The tips of his ears were bright red.
“God, why is my dongsaeng so indecent? You’re driving me crazy. I’ll go there and pull it up myself if I have to.”
“Then come over,” Cale challenged with a flutter of his eyelashes, looking entirely too pleased and ungovernable.
Cale laughed in amusement as Alver spluttered again, his face all shades of red. Ah, his hyung was so cute. This was why he couldn’t stop teasing him.
“I made apple pie with the kids yesterday,” Cale added on, his smile now softer and more affectionate. He shouldn’t tease his hyung too much lest he combusts. This country needed its king. “Don’t you want to try some before it’s all gone?”
It had been a while since they’d met up face to face, and he knew Alver Crossman well. Alver was the complete opposite of Cale Henituse, who took every chance he could to slack. He should force the workaholic king of the nation to take a break.
Alver thought about his schedule and sighed. He could never reject his dongsaeng when Cale looked at him like that, all fond and soft and full of longing.
“I’ll take a teleportation circle and come over for dinner tonight. Please fix your clothes, alright? You’re going to catch a cold at this rate.”
“I wouldn’t. I have the Vitality of the Heart.”
“Still. Please?”
“You’re such a worrywart,” Cale grumbled, finally fixing his shirt after all of Alver’s pleading.
“Yes, especially when it comes to you,” Alver sighed, but the smile on his face was fond. “Make sure to stay warm. The nights are getting colder.”
“I worry about you too,” Cale admitted with a huff, crossing his arms. “So take breaks, okay? You better not break your promise because of some ‘emergency’. I’ll kill you.”
Alver laughed. “What if an enemy attacks?”
“Who dares to disturb our time together? I’m going to take the dragons with me and burn them to a crisp.”
“Wow. How scary, Cale Henituse.”
“Yeah. Super scary. So make sure you come. If anything happens, we’ll just solve it together. I might like slacking, but I’m not so heartless that I’ll slack by myself while you shoulder the weight of the world alone.”
“... Alright, I understand, Cale. Thank you. I’m lucky to have you,” Alver smiled, and watched the way Cale mirrored his smile. “I’ll make sure to bring the cookies you and the kids like.”
“Good. I love you, hyung,” Cale said cheekily. He quickly ended the video communication before Alver could respond.
Alver was speechless. “That little punk…”
He shook his head and pressed the back of his hands against his burning cheeks. He had to work hard and finish all of his work so he could spend more time with Cale.
Still, he couldn’t help but smile when he thought about Cale’s cheeky expression.
“He’s getting cuter by the day,” Alver mumbled helplessly to himself as he picked up a pen.
