Things Change

Summary:

He didn't know what to expect. So many new faces and many old ones. It all felt so unnatural, a feeling in the air, one of change.

For better or for worse, he couldn't tell.

However, as he stared at the faces of the two men on the poster. Mox felt his throat clench a bit.

Same faces. Same names.

But, something was different.

Work Text:

"So, you just decided to drop by?"

The older gravelly voiced gentleman asked, passing him a freshly poured cup of coffee.

Jon took it gratefully, the heat of the glass mug burning his fingers slightly, he shrugged, "Yeah, I guess you could say that."

Hunter nodded as he poured himself some, and sat behind his desk.

It did feel strange being back here. Not in the building, but in this type of setting again. Seeing Hunter again, and the way Hunter acted once he saw him. He lit up and brought Jon in for a bear-hug, it was like he saw his child that had gone off to college in a different country again. Oddly specific, sure, but it was what it felt and looked like.

"Well, then if it's just a visit. How have you been Ambro-" Hunter stopped himself and cleared his throat. "Sorry, Moxley. How've you been?"

Jon sipped some of the coffee, it was still too hot to drink fully, he chuckled to himself at the correction, "Can't complain. Different people and different feel, y'know? If I'm bein' honest, though, I think it was kinda what I needed."

Hunter hummed at that, "Just needed to get away?" He gave a smile as he drank some of his coffee. "Completely understand."

"So, you're the new boss huh?"

Hunter let out a laugh, "Not entirely, my wife is. But I look after all the talents now, and I run the shows."

Jon snorted, "Same thing."

Hunter shook his head with a smile, the older man couldn't help but beam at the bearded copper blonde, "I'm glad I was able to see you again, Moxley. Truthfully."

Jon grinned a bit, "Same here," he glanced around the office, the pictures and posters of upcoming events framed on the walls. His blue eyes landed on one particularly. It was a Wrestlemania 39 poster, some new faces and older ones. However, there were two men specifically his eyes remained on.

Seeming to follow his gaze, once Hunter saw he understood, "Have you spoken to them?"

Jon's eyes never left them, "Eh, not really. We tried but. I guess, life had other fuckin' plans."

"When was the last time?"

This time Jon looked away, eyebrows furrowed, "Shit. Like. A big fucking while. Like a full conversion was since 2019. After that? Not a lot. If any."

Hunter brows raised at this, almost disbelieving, "Really? Never thought you three would drift that far."

Mox's chest couldn't help but tighten at that, he knew that. But hearing it being spoken hurt. He stayed silent.

Hunter placed his coffee down, "Well, you all are pretty busy men these days. So I would understand why you boys wouldn't be so tightly knit like before."

Okay, Jesus fuckin' Christ, ow. Thanks Hunter. Mox thought, he grimaced, he was twisting the knife in his chest at this point.

Jon bounced his leg slightly, "Uh. Do they ever, like, at least talk about me a bit? Like share stories with the new kids?"

Hunter coughed out a laugh, "Seth maybe, but he seems too into what he's doing to do that now. Roman? You never know, but that's if we even see him."

Mox swore he felt the room grow cold. Of course, he knew he wouldn't be talked about all the time. But to not really be talked about at all by two men he knew well, felt wrong.

Hunter seemingly sensed how quiet he was being, "Are you alright, Jon?"

Jon faked a smile, "Yeah, completely."

Hunter shook his head, "Jon, I'm pretty sure I've been alive long enough to know when someone isn't."

Damn him.

Mox felt himself deflate, "I don't know. I guess I just thought they would, at least a little bit."

Hunter glanced behind him to the poster, he scratched at his beard in thought. Hunter knew how close those three were, practically inseparable. Glued at the hip. So seeing them apart this badly, he couldn't help but feel upset for Jon. Life had it's nasty ways of ending good relationships that should've lasted long.

However, Hunter knew as well, how different things were now. It wasn't 2019 anymore, the Seth and Roman Jon knew before weren't exactly the same people now compared to when he left. How Jon would react to that was Hunter's guess, but he knew the poor man would be confused.

He could just hope, Jon would take it well.

"Rollins should be here tonight."

Jon's leg stopped bouncing, his sharp blue eyes stared at Hunter, "What?"

"Rollins. He should be here. If you would want to catch up, or just see him. You could see him tonight." Hunter threw his hands up a bit. "Of course, only if you want to."

Jon stared at the mug in his hand, when had he started shaking? The mere thought of seeing one of them again overwhelmed him. He felt his throat clench and his heart beat faster.

"I mean, maybe. If he's here, I guess."

Hunter nodded slowly, "You're welcome to stay if you think so."

Jon tapped his foot rhythmically, "Yeah, yeah. Uh. Thanks."

Jon stood from his seat, maybe too quickly, some of the mug's contents being dropped to the floor, "Uh, thanks for the coffee. Uh would you, like, want your mug back?"

Hunter held out a hand, "No, it's fine keep it. Take it as a souvenir. I have many."

"Ah, got it. Thanks."

Mox made his way to the door, but once he grabbed the handle he turned his head to Hunter, "It was nice seeing you Trips."

Hunter smiled, "Come back anytime, Jon."

With that, Jon pulled the door open and made his way to the hallway.

His exterior showed him to be nonchalant, the mug of coffee adding to his demeanor. Deep inside, though, his heart beat at a million miles an hour. All because of someone he'll meet again. It's been too long.

He didn't know what to expect.

Standing by and watching the show instead of being in it felt even weirder. He passed by countless people who were either shocked to see him or ecstatic to see him again.

So many people he's never met before came up to him and shook his hand, talking about how much he inspired them. Either it was weird, or Jon didn't know how to take a compliment.

He'd go for the latter.

It was two hours into the show, and still no sign of Seth. If he'd even show. He bit the inside of his mouth at the thought of him.

He couldn't lie, he was nervous. So fucking nervous, he racked his brain full of scenarios.

HIs mind was so clouded he didn't realize some brush past him, it was only when a familiar scent filled his scent. Instantly, Jon turned to the figure, it was him.

It was Seth.

And, what the hell was he wearing?

"Seth?" It was a bit of a whisper but loud enough for him to hear.

"Ugh, what now, Patrick-" Seth swiftly turned around angrily, but he stopped once their eyes met.

Both of them stood there, far from each other, not saying a word.

Jon was able to get a good look at him. It had been so long.

Seth's usual long hair was slicked back, and- his outfit. Mox had never thought of Seth to wear... was that lace? With a white fur coat. A comically large one at that. Seth seemed to have been experimenting.

Seth himself, was at a loss for words upon seeing Mox. His mouth slightly agape, and his brain fixing for the right words to use.

Mox allowed a small smile, "How've you been, man?"

Seth took a small step back, finally finding his voice again, "...Dean?"

It was small, sounding unsure. It sounded as nervous as he felt.

Mox licked his lips, "Yeah. It's me."

Seth shook his head, hard. He stared at Jon, before his brows tightened together, "What? What the hell are you doing here?"

Mox shrugged, "Stopping by."

Seth's eyes shifted quickly, "'Stopping by?" He repeated. He got quiet again, his brain was thinking.

Mox continued, "Yeah. I saw you guys were in town. So I just thought-"

Suddenly Seth broke out into hysterical laughter, one Jon knew well all those years ago.

Jon this time, took the step back.

The sound of the laughter brought back memories he buried after their countless reunions.

The Seth he spoke to just a couple seconds ago, his Seth, disappeared.

He was replaced with someone crazed.

After he calmed from his laughing fit, Seth's brown eyes snapped to Jon's face, "Oh that's rich. For a second there I thought you said you were Dean."

He wiped a "tear" from his eye.

"Because Dean left. Years ago."

The sound of his voice wanted to sound chippy, but the tone Seth used was venomous. Designed to make Jon feel Seth's words as they knotted and pulled Jon's stomach. He made his way over to him slowly, Jon stood his ground this time. His eyes hardened as his "brother" stepped closer.

Not this again, he didn't want to treat Seth like this. Again.

"Left us high and dry. Without much of a goodbye." Seth's smile widened, but nothing met his eyes. "Dean wouldn't come back. He doesn't care. Besides why would he? He's living the dream, far from here."

Seth was now only a couple inches away from Mox now.

"You're not Dean." Seth spat out with a smile. "Who are you? I don't remember you."

Seth tilled his head, feigning innocence, Mox knew.

Jon couldn't believe this, any of this. All that progress, everything Seth did to work on himself. To get better. It all seemed to have been for nothing.

So Mox asked his own question.

"What the fuck happened to you, man?"

Seth made a face as he stood correctly, almost as if he weren't expecting the question. He stayed quiet, the smile faltering but not leaving completely.

Seth let out another laugh, a cackle, Mox really did miss and fucking hate that laugh.

Mox couldn't dwell on the nostalgia, as Seth rubbed his temple with a smirk, "Avoiding my question with your own, and it's one I can't answer? Clever."

Seth's eyes wandered everywhere on Jon's body, slowly, taking in everything. Seth began to circle him, the action making Mox tense. However, there was this weird trust that Mox had, as if he knew despite Seth's remarks he wouldn't hurt him.

Peculiar thing to assume, even after Seth's obvious change in character.

Seth hummed behind him, Mox froze, "So not-Dean, you're acting like I know you-"

Jon spun around to face Seth, frustration obvious and catching Seth off guard to the point his back collided with the wall, Mox towered over him, " I do know you. You fuckin' idiot."

Seth, obviously nervous, a breathless laugh escaped him, "Really?"

His voice came out as a squeak, and if they were in normal circumstances, Jon would've teased him about it. And Seth would be Seth about it, all blushed out and flustered.

Damnit he missed him.

"Yeah, stop with all the bullshit. I'm Dean. I just go by Jon Moxley now. C'mon Seth I told you this, didn't I?" Mox had his voice lower to a whisper, "...Before I left?"

Seth's eyes fell to the ground, his voice also grew silent, "...I don't remember that."

A lie.

Seth was lying to him now.

Mox had to hold in the growl, he shook his head, "Selective listening then? Like you always did."

The accusation made Seth look at him, he glared at him, offended, "What? I do not have selective-"

It sounded like Seth again. It slipped, but Seth caught it again.

Seth chuckled humorlessly, "I guess you haven't changed, huh?"

"But you did?" It was more of a statement than a question.

However, this was good. They were finally getting somewhere.

Mox didn't realize, but his hands traveled to Seth's shoulders, "Tell me man. What happened? What's got you acting like some joker? That's my job."

There were so many things Seth wanted to say, so many things he wanted to do now that Jon was standing so close. Mox could tell, his eyes gave it away.

Despite everything, Jon's younger brother was an easy read, but that didn't Seth didn't try to cover it up.

Seth's smile was thin, it was almost a grimace, but he kept it together, "I guess you can say the loneliness got to me."

It was supposed to be a joke, but there was no humor, it was empty.

Mox squeezed his shoulders, "What about Ro-"

Seth scoffed, "What about him?"

That caught Mox off guard.

"He still hates me. I mean," Seth giggled to himself, "I don't blame him."

Jon couldn't believe that. "Roman?"

Seth let out a laugh, "Oh right I forgot. You missed all the fireworks. Big guy did everything for you. How sweet."

Seth glowered slightly, "Did all those reunions, not because he believed me. But because he believed in you. Adorable."

Jon let out a breathless laugh of his own, "Well shit, I kinda did the same thing."

It was his attempt at a tease, whether Seth saw that was his guess.

"Well then, I guess you two have that in common then."

Jon's hand subconsciously moved to the back of Seth's neck, Seth tensed but allowed him to. It seemed there were some things he missed too.

"You know I missed you right?" His words made Seth look away from him, "You and your crazy person - which you stole from me - by the way."

It was his other attempt to liven the situation.

"C'mon Seth. Look at me."

Seth did as he was told, albeit slowly, but when his eyes met his, Jon could see how much Seth was holding back.

"You shouldn't have come back here."

Seth's voice was low.

"Why? Did you not want me back?" Mox asked, his thumb began to rub his neck, soothing the tense muscles.

Seth's eyes flickered, with an emotion Jon had not seen in a while, Seth wanted to smile. A genuine one. But he stopped himself, replacing the light as his eyes darkened.

"You were finally happy. You got rid of us." He looked away again, "Of me."

Jon gently cupped Seth's chin and had him look back up at him, Jon gave Seth a smile, "Despite everything. You gave me a fuckin' life to remember. You and Roman. Ain't nothing gonna change that."

Seth was silent, they simply stared into each other's eyes, Seth exhaled and shut his eyes. Reveling in the touch, he longed for and the touch he grew to love.

However, slowly Seth brought his hands up to Mox's arms and pulled them away from him.

Seth held Mox's arms at his sides for a moment, he stayed put for a moment. Thinking.

Jon, confused at the movement, spoke in a hushed voice, "..Seth?"

Seth shook his head. He finally let go of his arms.

"No. It's better this way, Jon."

Seth pushed himself off the wall to walk away.

Jon was about to reach out before Seth turned to him, Seth gave him a smirk.

"It was nice to see you. Moxley. But unfortunately, this has to be the first and last time we meet."

Jon couldn't believe it, "Seth-"

Seth fixed his coat on himself, and smiled once more. Another, more melancholy smile on his face, but hid it with another cackle.

"Sorry, Mox. If you wanna keep your happiness, don't even try." He paused briefly, "But, hey, you wanna continue? Roman's "locker room" is all the way down the hall. That's only if you wanna keep this 'reunion' thing going. Don't say I didn't warn you though."

Seth laughed to himself as he walked away.

The laugh, though. Was low, no humor within it.

Mox could only watch as Seth disappeared, the conversation over. Seth was no longer here.

Jon didn't realize his breathing became hard, until Seth was out of sight.

Mox turned to the direction opposite.

Roman.

Surely the eldest would have more of a conversation in him. He looked once more where Seth went.

They were so close, and Seth left. He walked away from him. Jon couldn't ignore the way his heart pained at the thought of it.

A part of him wanted to wish his meeting with Roman wouldn't end the way it did with Seth.

Jon looked back to the hallway towards Roman's locker room. Him being secluded already didn't sound right. Jon let out a breath, but he knew there was no going back.

He had to know.

He finally made it.

The show was still going on, but if his memory served him right they were heading into the final twenty minutes.

There were hardly anyone walking in this hall, the occasional stage hand passed but that was it. The silence around him made him think.

Mox knew Roman was the most social of them, the one who everyone knew would bring energy into a room.

So why was he held up in this room? His health, maybe, that'd be understandable but to the point he's hardly heard from?

That didn't sound like Roman.

So, finally, Mox gained enough courage to knock.

It took a moment before the door swung open with a hiss. And a head popped out with a snarl.

"What?"

It was Jey, and it looked like Jey was stunned as well.

Mox gave a small wave, "Uh, hey, uce."

The aggression faded slightly, a familiar gleam in the younger twins eyes as he saw him, "A-Ambrose?"

"Hey Jey, how's it been?"

Jey blinked at him slowly, Mox noticed how subdued he was being. Sure, Jimmy was the usual burst of energy among them, but Jey would usually be right there bouncing with his brother.

Before Jey could even answer, the other twin appeared behind him.

"Holy shit." He heard Jimmy mutter. "Hey Dean! Been too long, uce."

Jimmy, the only twin who seemed to be acting somewhat normal, moved past Jey and gave Mox a quick hug. But Jimmy's energy, was turned down, more tame.

Jey still hadn't said anything. If anything, he was shifting from leg to leg, like he had no idea what to do.

Was everyone acting strange now?

"You just passing through, uce?" Jimmy asked with a small grin.

Mox let out a gruff laugh, "Yeah, thought maybe I'd stop by and pay you guys a visit. You busy?"

Jimmy glanced to Jey who gave him a look, and Jimmy sighed, "Yeah, you actually caught me and uce over there about to leave. We're in the main-event."

Jon nodded along, "Ah shit, sorry didn't mean to distract you."

Jimmy snorted, "Nah, man all good. It was nice seeing you again, uce."

"Yeah you too. But I got a question."

"Shoot."

"Roman here by any chance?

This time Jey stared straight at him, "Why."

The tone of voice made Mox furrow his eyebrows, "I was just wondering."

Jey's shoulders tensed, "Well. Don't "wonder".

Jimmy looked at Jey, "Uce, calm down."

Mox now had multiple questions. Last time he checked, Jey wasn't this irritable. Sure, Jimmy told him Jey had a bit of a temper but he was sure Jey did easily get this angry.

"Uce needs to mind his damn business."

Jimmy this time placed a hand behind Jey's neck, squeezing slightly, trying to calm him down, "He just asked a question. Cool it."

Jimmy let go of a long suffering breath, "Sorry, uce, he didn't mean-"

"What the hell are you two doing?"

All three of them tensed, Mox had his reasons but the other two freezing made no sense to him.

The deep, booming voice, came from behind both and instantly they moved out of the doorway. Revealing the man Mox had came to see.

Roman's scowl at an instant was dropped and replaced with softened eyes.

"Dean?..."

Jon couldn't stop the smile he gave at him, "Hey, Ro."

It seemed Roman couldn't stop himself either, the big man practically pulled Jon into a bone-crushing hug. The scent of buttercream and hints of coconut overwhelmed his senses.

He missed this. The way Roman's arms could wrap themselves around him so well, Mox would gladly melt into the warmth of the embrace.

"I've missed you." He heard Roman murmur into his hair. He could even feel Roman slightly nuzzling him.

It felt so great. Roman could snap him in half with this hug, and Mox wouldn't have cared in the slightest.

Roman pulled away, but kept his hands on Jon's shoulders, keeping him at arms length. The smile he wore was broad, and you could feel the warmth radiate off it.

Roman glanced up and stared at Jimmy and Jey. His smile faltered slightly.

"Don't you two have to be somewhere."

Jimmy was about to speak, but Jey grabbed onto Jimmy's arm, "Yeah, we're going. See ya later, uce."

Jey pulled Jimmy away from the room, and both left without a goodbye or another word more.

Roman then looked behind him, and Mox swore this threw him for a loop.

Paul fuckin' Heyman stood there, awkward, not knowing his place.

"Wise-man. Look after those two. Make sure they get the job done."

Wise-man?

Finally with a directive, Heyman stammered, "O-of course. It shall be done. M-my Tribal Chief."

Heyman scampered away, and shut the door behind him. Both men finally alone.

Mox couldn't help himself.

"Tribal Cheif, huh?"

Roman chuckled deeply, a sound that scratched the best part of Jon's brain, "Yeah. Responsibilities."

"So Paul Heyman..."

Roman sighed, letting go of Mox and making his way to a leather seat. A big one at that.

"Yeah. There's a lot."

Mox snorted, "Yeah, I can see that."

Roman held out a hand to the other seats, "You can sit if you want. There's a lot to talk about."

Almost too willingly, Mox found the seat closest to Roman and sat. His eyes fixed themselves onto a desk in the corner of the room.

There sitting proper up as two highest achieving trophies was the Universal and World Heavyweight championships. Glistening in the light, and the jewels sparkled with the feeling of utmost prestige.

Roman hummed at his expression, he smirked, "Amazing isn't it?"

Mox looked at Roman, "You got both of em'?"

Roman nodded, "Undisputed Heavyweight champion." He laughed to himself, he puffed out his chest a bit, proud, "You could say I stole it from everyone else."

Mox let out a laugh, "Yeah, I would have quite the fuckin' choice of words for you."

Roman smiled, "So what made you visit?"

"Exactly that. Visiting." Mox grinned. "And I guess I wanted to see how you guys were doing."

"Guys?" Roman repeated with an arched brow.

Jon felt his smile slowly turn into a frown, "Yeah, you and...well. Seth."

Roman's aura of warmth had gone cold a tad, his smile left his face, "Oh."

Jon let out a breath, "What happened, man? I talked to him before I came here."

"...You did?"

"Yeah, what happened between you two? He said you told him you hated him still."

Roman's deep brown eyes darkened, "I don't tolerate men of his nature."

Holy shit that was new.

"What?"

Roman's mouth turned to a snarl, "I'm sure he's already told you I only stood by him to see you happy, right?"

"I mean, yeah?"

"Of course. It's true. I couldn't forgive him, Dean- sorry - Jon."

"Y'know I never thought you'd be the fuckin' non-forgiving type." Jon let out a scoff. "You an' Seth keep takin' my jobs."

Roman being unforgiving, confused him more than anything. Roman struck him as a "forgive and forget" kind of person. Never would he have thought or dreamt of the day Roman said he hated someone.

Especially if that someone was Seth. Roman was so happy when they did reunions, and Mox thought of himself as a person who could read other people's emotions well. How did he miss this?

How well could Roman hide his emotions?

Mox felt his heart skip at a thought his brain conjured up.

How well could Roman hide his true intentions?

The thought sent shiver through his body. No, Roman wasn't like that. He was upfront about everything, and would tell you how he felt without hesitation.

"Jon?"

Roman's voice brought him back. His blue orbs searched Roman's face, and Roman caught on almost instantly.

As much Seth was easy to read for Jon, Jon was an open book to Roman.

"Somethings bothering you."

Roman wasn't wondering, he knew.

Mox groaned, "Yeah. A lot of things actually."

Roman grabbed both of Jon's hands into his, Mox won't deny the warmth that spread across his face at that, "Go on."

Jon figetted a bit before he looked into Roman's eyes, "Things changed, huh?"

"...They have."

Mox sighed, "So much is different. Seth is acting different. And..." Jon swallowed. "You changed too."

Roman remained silent.

"You aren't the Roman I left knowing, right?"

Roman looked to his hands holding Jon's, he didn't answer. But it was enough of one.

"And Seth ain't Seth either."

Roman looked back at Jon, his voice soft, "Where are you going with this?"

"I just wanna know why. Did something happen after I left? Did it fuck with you two that badly? Or was it something else."

Mox was tightly holding Roman's hands, he needed answers.

Roman couldn't seem to answer.

"Roman." He didn't mean for his voice to sound like a beg. "Please."

Roman let out a soft snort, "I don't think you actually want to know."

"I'm fuckin' asking of course I do."

Roman shook his head slowly, "Jon if I tell you, I'm afraid you're not gonna want to come back at all."

Mox's brows tightened at that, "Roman what-"

"I have my reasons and Seth has his. But what we did after and what we continue to do, well, I think you're never going to want to see us again."

Roman slowly snaked his hands out of Jon's grasp, but Jon didn't allow him to pull away.

Pulling back, Jon placed Roman's hands on his face, cupping his cheeks, "Tell me."

Roman, stunned for a bit by the action, cleared his throat, "I warned you."

His voice was buttery, as it was deep. Jon finally took into consideration how much larger in physique Roman was compared to 2019. His long hair was down, and they cascaded down his broad shoulders. His beard larger, groomed well, and there was some grey within it.

Roman couldn't look into his eyes, but he spoke, "As I said, I have responsibilities now. I have a family to take care of, to lead. I must remain at the top in order to do good by my family." He was silent for a bit. "And, I cannot allow for any outliers or anything that stops me from doing so."

"I mean, that's a pretty good fuckin' cause isn't it?"

Mox saw Roman's face scrunch up at his words.

"Am I wrong?..."

Roman shut his eyes, "You aren't wrong. But... I've.." Roman opened his eyes and Jon could see his eyes had become watery. He attempted to wipe them, but Roman stopped him. "I've done horrible things, Mox."

"Like what, Ro?" Mox used the softest tone he could muster.

He didn't know if his tone was helping or making things worse.

Roman took a couple breaths, and focused on the man he held. The way the baby-blue eyes blinked up at him, full of concern, full of love.

Things Roman no longer deserved.

Jon looked to him as someone to find comfort in, someone who was an angel sent down from heaven.

The things he would say, would soon erase all of those good things. A karma he had to face.

Roman would savor these seconds before he had to let it go.

"I've hurt people, if they didn't respect me. I hurt them. To the point until they did. I've beaten people into submission."

Mox blinked, disbelieving, his heart dropped.

Roman continued, "I hurt them."

Mox didn't speak.

"I hurt Jey and I hurt Jimmy. Jey got the worst of it. I beat him and mended his soul to my will. I made him what he is today. And he follows everything I say. I made them fall in line by threatening their families, and now they do everything I say. If I need them to attack someone they do it without hesitation."

The silence in the room spoke volumes to what Roman had revealed.

Roman pulled his hands away from Jon's face, and stood from his seat.

Roman walked over to where the championships sat, he wiped his hand across the the Universal title.

"I'm not a good person Jon. I won't ever will be again."

Jon could believe any of this shit. It would explain the submissive reactions Jimmy and Jey had when Roman appeared.

But Roman of all people?

The large Samoan was a juggernaut but his values wouldn't allow for him to harm anyone beyond what was necessary. But for him to lay his hands with practically murderous intent on his closest cousins, just didn't sound like him.

Mox knew something deeper was at play, and based on Roman's demeanor. He was guilty, he had regret on full display.

However, based on his hatred for Seth. A part of him whispered of Roman being deceitful, and playing him.

Never in his life had he had whispers for Roman deceiving him.

He had to say something, anything.

"That doesn't sound like you."

Roman clutched the title in his hand, "But like you said. I changed." Roman turned his head to face Jon, he could see the built up tears that threatened to fall, "And I think it's better if you leave now. The show is going to finish soon, and the usual press will be outside."

Mox stood up making his way over to the Samoan, "What? No, I'm not leavin' until I get some sort of closure on both of you. Roman please." Mox grabbed his arm, pleading, begging at this point. "You and Seth were my closest fuckin' friends, please, I don't like seeing either of you like this."

Roman smiled, it was the saddest one he's ever given him in the years of knowing him. It signaled something, and Jon didn't like it.

"You're right." Roman whispered. "We were."

Mox felt everything cave in at those words. He felt he was hanging off a cliff, trying his best to pull Roman and Seth to safety, but Seth had already fallen into the abyss willingly

He wasn't about to let Roman go, but he felt him slipping away, and Roman was telling him to let go.

For Mox to save himself.

"Roman I can't.... I can't just fuckin' leave with both of you like this. I can't."

Roman pulled his arm away from Jon, and placed his hand on his cheek wiping away a loose tear Jon hadn't noticed fallen.

Roman gave the most Roman-like smile, the kind that held the most emotion and one you couldn't fake.

"I'm so glad I got to see you one more time, Jon. But it's time for you to be happy, again." Roman pulled his hand away slowly, "It's time to go, I'm grateful I got to know you."

Roman looked up, as he heard a door open. The emotions were shielded now, and in the place of them was the usual scowl he wore.

How easily he could do that now.

"Jimmy, Jey, if you would be so kind, show Ambrose the door."

Jon felt a hand on his shoulder, he could tell it was Jimmy.

"C'mon, uce, it really was nice meeting you again."

He did as he was told, but looked back to see Roman watching with Heyman by his side. Paul looked between both of them, he could tell something happened. But he dared not question.

He guessed Roman threatened him too, due to how subservient he was around Roman.

Mox snorted at the thought,  Heyman fearing Roman over Lesnar was a testament to Roman's intimidation.

As he passed by Jey, he saw the way he glared at him as he left. He was a guard dog now.

Jimmy seemed to be the one to talk, while Jey was always ready to kill. Like how Roman wanted.

The fact of that alone didn't sound right. But it was true.

Seth was long gone, he acted more like him when they fought in the indies.

As both Jimmy and Jey saw him exit into the parking lot, they both shared a look before making their way back inside.

Mox stopped and turned to the arena, he was out. And he was heading back to his own company. One far from here.

Back to the new normal he made for himself. Looking back at his normal of the past.

However, as he walked away back to his hotel. His mind wouldn't leave the two men he left just now.

They told him to be "happy" but how could he be happy if they were obviously in their own hells?

He knew they told him basically stay away, but as he walked on suddenly something became much greater than whatever titles he was winning in his company.

Now, he'd do what he needed to do. And one of these days he'd come back. Back to them, and help them fix this.

He thought back to the cliff he imagined. Both men now resided within the abyss, letting themselves fall to save him.

But, if Mox had to jump in himself to get to both of them. It didn't matter what had to happen to him, all that mattered, was all three of them would be okay.

And they'd finally get their happy ending has a trio. And give Jimmy and Jey their freedom back.

Mox turned once more to the arena in the horizon.

Hang on a little while longer boys, I'll be there soon.
