Chapter 2: Prologue

Chapter Text

Avalyn Kailie Gilbert was born to Andromeda 'Andy' Parker and Grayson Gilbert, yeah I know it's surprising right that Grayson would father a child by someone other than his wife Miranda but let me take you back just a bit to understand how this came to be.

Andy never had the easiest life growing up, in the eyes of her family she was a disgrace much like her elder brother Kai she was a siphon and so her home life was less than ideal, so when she turned 18 she left, she ran as far away from her family and coven as she could get she did try and convince Kai to come with her but he was determined to win the merge so he stayed behind.

Andy ended up in the small town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, and not long after she arrived in town she met a charming man by the name of Grayson Gilbert. She felt an attraction to him, and he felt the same attraction toward Andy but the problem was that he was married. Even though he knew it was wrong because he was married, he still started an affair with Andy that no one else knew about.

It was their little secret until things got complicated and what I mean by that is that their affair resulted in Andy getting pregnant with Ava, Andy was now carrying the child of a married man. But once she found out about the pregnancy instead of telling Grayson about it, Andy broke off the affair.

And so on the 21st of May, 1992, Andy Parke gave birth to a beautiful and healthy baby girl whom she named Avalyn Kailie (after her favorite sibling) Gilbert, she knew that if her former coven and family namely her father Joshua found out about her daughter that they (he) would try and take her from Andy and raise her because Ava was a member of the Gemini coven and Andy refused to let that happen she would not let her precious Ava grow up the way she did because there was a chance that Ava would inherit her mother's siphoning ability.

So with a heavy heart, Andy wrote two letters one was addressed to Grayson explaining everything about the situation, or well everything minus the supernatural parts anyway, and telling him that Ava was his daughter, and the second letter was addressed to Ava, to be given to her when she was older, explain to the girl that Andy loved her more than anything in this world.

On May 30th just nine days after Ava was born, Andy placed the baby carrier in front of the door on the Gilbert porch, she rang the doorbell and before Grayson opened the door she ran away but she did make sure that someone would come right to the door before just leaving Ava there.

Grayson was surprised to find a baby carrier with a green-eyed baby staring up at him and then he noticed the letters and picked them up and seeing one with his name on it so he opened the letter and skimmed through it learning that this was his daughter, Ava's birth certificate was also in inside the letter addressed to him,  he put the letters into his pocket to put them up but kept the birth certificate out and picked up the baby carrier, and diaper bag and bringing them inside the house.

"Who was at the door honey?" Came the voice of Miranda Sommers-Gilbert, Grayson's wife.

"I don't know, but somebody left a baby on our porch with nothing but a diaper bag and her birth certificate that says her name is Avalyn Kailie but the last name is blank and the parent sections are also blank."

Miranda walked up and saw the little girl in the carrier and picked her up "Hi, there little Avalyn." Ava stared at her with wide innocent green eyes and the woman smiled at the child, and so the couple adopted Ava officially all the while Miranda was clueless that Ava was the result of an affair that her husband had.

And not even two weeks after Ava was found on the porch, the family of three became a family of four when John Gilbert and his girlfriend at the time Isobel Flemming had a daughter that they both decided to give up for adoption, and Grayson being the doctor that helped deliver the baby adopted his newborn niece.

But this story isn't about Elena, this is Avalyn Kailie Gilbert's story, so follow Ava through the good, the bad, the ups, the downs, the happiness, and the pain. As she finds out about the supernatural and discovers secrets about herself in Gemini.

Chapter Text

Everything happened so quickly, Elena was arguing with their parents about being grounded while Ava rolled her eyes at her sister being dramatic.

"Lena it's two weeks, not the end of the world, stop being so dramatic."

"Ava was there why isn't she being grounded too?"

Ava scoffed "because unlike you Elena I didn't sneak to go, Dad knew I was going." Elena rolled her eyes.

"Ugh, that's so unfair." Elena didn't see why their dad practically let Ava do whatever she wanted.

There was a blinding light and Ava screamed "DAD! LOOK OUT!" Elena grabbed her sister's hand as Grayson jerked the wheel and the car swerved and flipped over the railing plunging into the water under Wickery Bridge.

Water filled the car rather quickly "I love you, little bird." Grayson told her before he looked at his wife and Elena, "I love you all." He knew that was a slim chance they would get out of this alive.

"I love you too dad." Ava took a deep breath as water raised above her head. She tried to get the door open but it was useless. She locked eyes with her Dad, and she saw something in his eyes that looked like regret but she didn't have time to question it as Ava felt Elena's hand go limp in hers as she held her breath and she tried to open the door again to no avail.

She started seeing spots in her vision and the last thing she remembered was her dad looking at something out the window and pointing back to her and Elena and then seeing a pair of green eyes before she blacked out.

Ava woke with a start hearing her alarm go off. She was breathing heavily as she wiped the sleep from her eyes, it was the same nightmare of the crash that killed her parents while she and Elena survived. She had it very frequently.

She sighed flicking the hair band on her wrist to ground herself, something that her therapist encouraged her to do "you're okay Ava, it's over you're breathing, you're okay." She muttered to herself.

Once she calmed down she got out of bed and walked into her bathroom, to shower. Once she was finished she wrapped a towel around her and walked out of the bathroom and over to her closet to pick out an outfit to wear to school this was the first day back since the accident.

Once she had everything picked out she got dressed and walked over to her vanity, she did a natural make-up look and put on the two jewelry items that she wore all the time that both came from her dad, one was a necklace with a bird on it since he called her little bird and the other a bracelet with her birthstone and Zodiac sign on it.

Though she was unaware that the bracelet was from her biological mother, it had a protection spell that let Andy know that Ava was okay and protected Ava as well

Though she was unaware that the bracelet was from her biological mother, it had a protection spell that let Andy know that Ava was okay and protected Ava as well.

Once she was happy with her look Ava grabbed her bag and headed downstairs to the kitchen, she was the first one of her siblings down, Ava smiled at her aunt Jenna "morning, Aunt J." Then she started making herself a cup of coffee and some cereal for breakfast.

The strawberry blonde smiled at her eldest niece "morning Ava, how'd you sleep?"

The brunette made a so-so motion "eh."

"Nightmares?"

Ava nodded "it's not happening as frequently as in the beginning but I still get them."

Ava was sipping on her coffee and eating her cereal when Elena walked into the kitchen.

Jenna looked at Elena as Ava already had food, "Toast. I can make toast."

Elena shook her head at the woman " It's all about the coffee, Aunt Jenna."

Jeremy came into the kitchen "Is there coffee?" then he stole the cup out of Elena's hand making her roll her eyes and grabbed another one.

Jenna looked between the three of them "Your first day of school and I'm totally unprepared. Lunch money?"

"I'm good," Elena said.

Ava shook her head "no thanks Aunt J, I'm good." while Jeremy took the money. Ava gave him a look, he just shrugged at her with a small smile. The youngest Gilbert ruffled her hair as she got up to put her bowl in the dishwasher.

Ava playfully stuck her tongue out at him, and Jenna smiled at the scene, while Elena watched slightly jealous since Jeremy only ever brushed her off whenever she tried to talk to him since the accident.

"Anything else? A number two pencil? What am I missing?"

Elena looked at the strawberry blonde "Don't you have a big presentation today?"

Jenna looked at her watch " I'm meeting with my thesis advisor at...now. Crap!"

Ava smiled at her "then, Aunt J, we got this." then Jenna left the three siblings.

Elena looked at Jeremy "You okay?"

"Don't start." then he walked out of the room.

Elena looked at Ava "how come he never brushes you off like that?"

Ava gave her a look "Lena, you have got to let him grieve in his own way and I don't baby him about it, the way you do." then Ava walked out of the room "Hey Jer do you need a ride to school?"

He came back down the stairs with his backpack "is Caroline picking you up?"

"yep, she sure is." then they heard a horn go off "and that would be her now."

"Sure." The two siblings walked out of the house to see Caroline's car in the drive, Ava opened the passenger side door and Caroline looked at her "is baby Gilbert hitching a ride with us today?"

Jeremy climbed into the back seat "yeah he is." Caroline nodded and once they were all in the car she pulled out of the drive and headed towards the school.

Once the blonde parked the car they three got out and Jeremy looked at his sister's best friend "thanks for the ride, Caroline."

"No problem baby Gilbert," she called out as he walked away from the two girls. Caroline linked her arm with Ava's "so how are you today?"

Ava smiled at her "as good as I can be right now, I had it again last night... second time this week."

"oh sweetie," then she squeezed her shoulder "at least they're getting less frequent than before which is a good thing."

Ava nodded "yeah." and the duo walked into the school.

Once they were inside, the duo saw Elena and Bonnie and Caroline pulled Ava towards them, Caroline unlinked her arm from Ava's and Ava smiled at the Bennett girl "Hey Bonnie."

Bonnie gave her a quick hug "hey Ava."

Caroline looked at Elena "Elena. Oh, my god." then she hugged the doppelganger. "How are you? Oh, it's so good to see you." The blonde looked over at Bonnie "How is she? Is she good?"

Ava bit back a smile at Caroline's antics, Elena had clung more to Bonnie after the accident so she didn't hang out much with Caroline, unlike Ava who hung around the Forbes household more but still spoke to Bonnie when she saw her or Bonnie had texted her to check up on her.

"Caroline, I'm right here. And I'm fine. Thank you." Elena told her.

The blonde looked at her "Really?"

"Yes, much better."

"Oh, you poor thing." Caroline hugged her again.

"Okay, Caroline."

"Oh! Okay, see you guys later?" Caroline linked arms with Ava again.

"Bye guys."

Elena and Bonnie both said goodbye and the duo walked away from them. They stopped at their lockers which were beside each other and got their stuff, they had different classes right now, Ava had History, with Bonnie and Elena and Caroline had English.

Ava got her stuff and smiled at the blonde "I'll see you after class Care." Caroline pulled her into a hug.

"Later Ava."

Ava walked towards the HIstory classroom only to bump into someone and drop her stuff, she sighed and crouched down to pick it up while Stefan did the same "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to run into you."

Ava looked at him as he helped her pick her stuff up "it's fine I wasn't watching either." she looked at his green eyes and got a sense of deja vu like she had met him before "I'm sorry but have we met before?"

Stefan shook his head "I don't think so but I'm Stefan."

Ava shook her head "Ava, sorry you just look familiar that's all." They both stood and Stefan handed her, the book of hers that he picked up. she took it "thanks."

Ava walked off down the hall to her class, she could shake the feeling that she had seen him somewhere before but she couldn't place where.

Ava took her seat in Mr. Tanner's class with a sigh, she loved history but hated their History teacher. A little while later everyone was seated and Tanner started talking. "Once our home state of Virginia joined the confederacy in 1861, it created a tremendous amount of tension within the state. People in Virginia's northwest region had different ideals than those from the traditional deep south. Then Virginia was divided in 1863 with the northwest region joining the union." Mr. Tanner droned on but Ava tuned him out and noticed Stefan staring at her sister... Ava really wished she could remember where she had seen this man before because she was sure that she's seen him somewhere.

She met up with Caroline after History at their lockers and they headed to their next class which was one that they shared. Before they knew it school was over and Caroline was driving Ava home.

"I'll see you tonight at the grill Care."

"See you soon Ava." Ava walked into her house and headed up to her room to drop her stuff off, there was a small box on her bed. she picked it up there was a note on it "found this in your parent's stuff, the box has your name on it so figured you would want it, Aunt J." She moved the note to see her name written on the box just like Jenna said. She opened the box and teared up seeing a folded piece of paper inside.

"Happy Birthday Little Bird, I know it's two days after your birthday but this one didn't come in until this afternoon so I didn't get to give it to you on your birthday, but its the friendship charm bracelets that you wanted for you and Caroline, I had them customized the way you said you wanted them so that is what took so long. love you little bird."

Ava sat down on her bed with the box in her lap and brought her hands up to her face and wiped the tears that welled up in her eyes.  She took a moment to collect herself before she smiled still slightly teary-eyed as she looked at the bracelets in the box.

(Pretend that the initials are an A and C, I couldn't find one with those exact initials on it so let's pretend

(Pretend that the initials are an A and C, I couldn't find one with those exact initials on it so let's pretend.)

They were two silver bands with two little charms hanging on them one said Best Bitches which was on both of them and the other charm had an A for Ava and the other bracelet had a C for Caroline. "exactly how I wanted them, thanks, dad." and unknown to Ava both bracelets were infused with vervain.

Ava clipped her bracelet around her wrist and slipped the box into her bag, so she could give Caroline hers when she saw her at the grill later. The brunette walked into her bathroom to touch up her make from her little tear fest from finding the note and stuff on her bed.

Once she was done she grabbed her bag and headed back downstairs. Jenna stuck her head out of the kitchen hearing Ava come down "Hey, did you see what I left on your bed?"

Ava nodded at her as she hit the last step "yeah, thanks aunt J."

"What was it?"

"A late birthday present from dad, customized friendships bracelets for Care and me, I saw them while we out shopping one day and I wanted them but couldn't get them at that time so Dad asked me how I wanted them and I told him, turns out he went back later and ordered them just the way I wanted, but the customization caused them not to get here in time for my birthday, he was gonna give it to me the night of the accident since that was the day they came in." Jenna pulled her into a hug.

Making Ava smile, she held her wrist up and showed her bracelet to her aunt, after she let her go from the hug "oooh that's cute."

"Care's has a C on it but other than that they are identical... I'm leaving now, I'm meeting Caroline at the grill."

Jenna smiled at her with a nod "alright, it's a school night so don't stay out too late."

Ava nodded "gotcha aunt J." Ava walked out of the house and to her car and As promised Ava met Caroline and Bonnie out front. "Hey, guys."

"Hi, Ava."

"Hey Ava," they said at the same time as they walked inside the grill.

Caroline looks at the two brunettes " His name is Stefan Salvatore. He lives with his uncle up at the old Salvatore Boarding House. He hasn't lived here since he was a kid. Military family, so they moved around a lot. He's a Gemini, and his favorite color is blue."

Bonnie gave the blonde a look "You got all of that in one day?"

Ava grinned looking at the Bennett girl "Bon come on this is Care we're talking about here."

The blonde playfully shoved Ava's shoulder " as I was saying oh, please, I got all that between third and fourth period. We're planning a June wedding."

Ava grinned at her best friend "and I get to be your maid of honor."

"Of course, you do Ava, just like I get to be yours when you get married as per the pact we made when we were 12."

"Damn straight."

Bonnie just laughed looking between the two amused she was used to them acting like this. The Bennett girl left the two to their own devices and walked over to talk to Matt.

Ava smiled at Caroline "I got you something."

The blonde looked at her "oh my god Ava what is it?"

Ava pulled the box out of her bag and handed it to the blonde, "open it and find out."

Caroline opened the box and grinned seeing the bracelet, she looked up at Ava "oh my god, the bracelets that we wanted, you got them?"

Ava held hers up "actually my dad got them, for us, he was gonna give it to me as a birthday present but they didn't get here in time, Aunt Jenna found the box it some of dad's stuff that's still in their room which she is staying in and laid it on my bed."

The blonde held her wrist up towards Ava "will you clasp it?"

"Of course Care." then she clasped the bracelet around the blonde's wrist. A little later Bonnie, Stefan, and Elena joined Ava and Caroline at their table.

Caroline looks at Stefan "So, you were born in Mystic Falls?"

Stefan nodded "Mm-Hmm. And moved when I was still young."

"Parents?" questioned Bonnie.

" My parents passed away."

Elena gave him a sympathetic smile "I'm sorry. Any siblings?"

"None that I talk to. I live with my uncle." Ava noted that he said that he had a sibling but they just didn't talk.

Caroline smiled at him again "So, Stefan, if you're new, then you don't know about the party tomorrow."

"It's a back-to-school thing at the falls," Bonnie added to what Caroline said.

Stefan looked at Elena "are you going?"

Ava smirked at her sister answering for her "of course she is."

***

Ava shot up in her bed at the sound of her alarm she had the nightmare once again, she was breathing heavily but her eyes widened when she realized that the reason that she recognized Stefan's eyes, it was because that was the last thing she saw before she blacked out after the accident, Stefan had to have been, what her dad saw before he pointed to the backseat, Stefan had to be the one that pulled her and Elena out but she just didn't know how that was possible.

She got up and got dressed, she planned to question the Salvatore about this later if she could get him on his own.  Once she was ready she headed to school but couldn't find Stefan before class so there she sat bored out of her mind in History.

"The Battle of Willow Creek took place right at the end of the war in our very own Mystic Falls. How many casualties resulted in this battle? Ms. Bennett?"

Bonnie looked at him "Um...a lot? I'm not sure. Like a whole lot."

"Cute becomes dumb in an instant, Ms. Bennett. Mr. Donovan? Would you like to take this opportunity to overcome your embedded jock stereotype?"

Matt just shook his head "It's okay, Mr. Tanner, I'm cool with it."

"Hmm. Elena? Surely you can enlighten us about one of the town's most significant historical events?"

Elena shook her head " I'm sorry, I--I don't know."

" I was willing to be lenient last year for obvious reasons, Elena. But the personal excuses ended with summer break." Ava gripped the edge of her desk until her knuckles were white, she glared at Mr. Tanner speaking up "that's not fair, our parents died four months ago, you can't just throw that in her face because she didn't know the answer to one of your questions, it quite unprofessional if you ask me... oh and by the way, there were 346 casualties."

Elena gave her a thankful smile, while Tanner glared at Ava, he handed her a slip and sent her out of the classroom, making her roll her eyes as she made her way to the principal's office and a few minutes later she sat across from Mr. Vance their principal.

"What is it this time Ava?"

"Mr. Tanner was being an ass as usual and took it too far and I was just standing up for my sister, he threw our parent's deaths in her face because she didn't know the answer to his question, and I wasn't going to stand for that blatant disrespect so I mouthed off to him and he wrote me up for it but it was his fault, to begin with for being disrespectful about the death of our parents."

Principal Vance nodded at her, students often complained about Mr. Tanner but they didn't have anyone qualified to replace him to fire him, and he dismissed Ava from his office.

Ava rolled her eyes as the bell rang and she met up with Caroline she was getting ready for the party with the blonde.

Once they got to Caroline's house, Caroline curled Ava's hair, and then while Caroline was getting dressed, Ava got dressed as well and then did Caroline's hair the way she wanted it done.

Once they were ready they left and headed to the party. Ava grinned at Caroline "Let's get drunk."

Caroline laughed "that's the spirit, Ava." the two headed off to get drinks.

A few drinks in and Caroline and Ava were both dancing when Caroline said she was going to get another drink and then Ava saw Elena and Bonnie and made her way over to them "hey guys."

"Ava, Hi." Bonnie smiled at her.

"What are we talking about over here?"

"Just about where Stefan is."

Ava nodded "ahhh gotcha."

Elena discreetly rolled her eyes, " I don't know. You tell me, you're the psychic one."

Ava looked at her "oooh since when?"

Bonnie laughed "just recently Ava, apparently. Right, I forgot. Okay, so give me a sec. Grams says I have to concentrate."

Ava grinned "oooh wait, you need a crystal ball."

Elena nodded "like Ava said," then she picked up an empty beer bottle and handed it to Bonnie. "crystal ball." Bonnie takes it and touches Elena's hand. Bonnie spaces out for a while, comes back to her senses, and abruptly pulls her hand back.

"What?" the doppelganger questioned.

Bonnie looked freaked out "That was weird. When I touched you, I saw a crow."

Ava gives her a concerned look "that's weird."

Bonnie nodded agreeing with her "A crow. There was fog, a man. I'm drunk. It's the drinking. There's nothing psychic about it. Yeah? Ok, I'm gonna get a refill."

Ava shared a looked with her sister "that was weird I am going to go and see if she's okay." Elena nodded.

"Okay." Ava walked off leaving Elena alone but not for long since Stefan showed up behind her.

Ava caught up with the Bennett girl "hey, you okay?"

Bonnie smiled at her "that was really weird but I'll be fine."

Ava squeezed her shoulder "okay just thought I'd check on you."

"Thanks, Ava." then Ava walked off and she saw Stefan by himself and made her way over to him.

"Hey, Stefan."

"Ava, Hi what is it?"

She just get straight to it "I knew you looked familiar but I just could not place why, until this morning and it hit me, you saved us, me and Elena, the accident, dad saw you outside and told you to save me and Elena first, the last thing I remembered seeing before I blacked out was your eyes... I don't know how you did what you did it without diving equipment or anything but I know you did it, so thanks for that."

Stefan looked at her surprised "you have a good memory no use in denying what you already know." he could smell the vervain in one of her bracelets so he knew he couldn't compel her.

Ava snorted "Yeah, good memory, more like I see the scene in my nightmares, quite frequently... I need another drink." then she left him there to get another drink.

After all the excitement and Vicki getting attacked by some kind of animal in the woods or so they were saying anyway.

Ava sat with Caroline and Bonnie at the grill trying to sober up.

"Are you guys sober yet?" Bonnie asked the two.

Ava shook her head "nope."

"Me either." Caroline agreed with Ava.

Bonnie pushed coffee cups at the two of them "Keep drinking. I gotta get you both home. I gotta get me home."

Caroline looked at Ava and Bonnie "Why didn't he go for me? You know, how come the guys that I want never want me?"

Ava just laid her head on Caroline's shoulder while Bonnie held her hands up "I am not touching that."

" I'm inappropriate. I always say the wrong thing. And...Elena always says the right thing. She doesn't even try! And he just picks her. And she's always the one that everyone picks, for everything. And I try so hard, and...I'm never the one."

Ava gave her a look "one day you'll be the one for someone Care-Bear, you just gotta wait it out." Caroline smiled down at her sleepy best friend.

Bonnie looked at the blonde "it's not a competition Caroline."

"Yeah, it is."

Bonnie got up and looked at the two of them "you guys coming?"

Caroline shook her head "I need to sober up some more." Bonnie nodded and looked at Ava.

"what about you Ava?"

Ava shook her head "I don't want to leave Care here alone so I'll get her home." Bonnie nodded and left the two. "I am going to get us some more coffee in hopes it helps." Caroline nodded at her.

Ava made her way up to the bar "Hey David, can I get two more coffees?"

David nodded "sure thing."

"You just order coffee in a bar?"

Ava looked at him "well I need the caffeine, I gotta get my friend and I home... I'm Ava by the way just while were making conversation."

"Damon Salvatore."

Ava nodded "Any relation to Stefan Salvatore?"

Damon smirked "Stef is my baby brother..."

David placed the two coffee cups in front of Ava, she nodded at him "thanks David." then turned to Damon "ahh so you're the sibling that he doesn't talk to, it was nice meeting you Damon, but I've got to go."  then she walked back over to Caroline and sat one of the cups in front of her.

"Thanks Aves." Ava smiled at her and they both drank their coffee.

Ava got Caroline home and then looked at her "would your mom mind if I stayed over? I'm texting Jenna right now and telling her that I'm staying with you tonight."

"Nah mom wouldn't mind as long as it's cool with Jenna."

Ava texted Jenna and her aunt said that it was okay as long as it was okay with Liz. "she said it was okay as long as it was okay with your mom."

Ava borrowed some of Caroline's clothes and they both passed out on the blonde's bed.

Notes:

Here we go chapter one :D there are going to be a few changes that you will notice Ava and Kol already have my heart and they haven't even met yet lol but I will say at they are Soulmates.

The way I am doing this one is that for Kol everything was just dark until Ava was born and then he got to watch her life when she went to sleep and she will get to see some parts of his life while she's sleeping just the important parts at least since Kol is really old. Just thought I would mention that.

Also, Ava gets her first glimpse into his life in the next chapter, so yeah I hope you guys enjoy the chapter (:

Chapter 6: Chapter Three: Friday Night Bites

Notes:

Just a little note before we start, I have completely removed the whole Damon/Caroline arc for this book, so things are gonna happen a little differently than they do in Cannon. Just a fair warning about that.

That being said, I will probably end up skipping a couple of episodes in season one that are more based on that particular arc.

I think that's all so enjoy the chapter 🙂.

(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Jenna walked into Ava's room the following morning, to wake Caroline and Ava up so they wouldn't be late for school. "All right girls, it's time to get up, or you will be late for school!"

Ava groaned as she opened her eyes and gave Jenna a halfhearted glare, "All right Aunt Jenna, we're getting up." then she smacked Caroline with a pillow as Jenna walked out of the room, content with the fact that at least one of them was awake. "Care get up, we have to get ready."

Caroline woke up and shoved her best friend making her fall off the bed and making the two of them laugh, Jenna hearing the thud of Ava hitting the floor stuck her head back in the room "Everything okay in here?"

Ava got up from the floor, "Yeah, it's fine, Care just accidentally shoved me to the floor." There was a playful glare on her face as she looked at her best friend.

"Ahhh okay gotcha, are you alright Ava?"

Ava nodded in affirmation and then Jenna left the room again and Ava walked into her ensuite to shower and get ready for school. After she was finished, she walked out wearing a black long-sleeve top with dark wash skinny jeans and slipped on a pair of heeled ankle boots.

Once Caroline was ready, Ava grabbed her black leather jacket, and the two girls headed downstairs to the kitchen to grab some coffee and breakfast. Before heading out the door to school, with the youngest, Gilbert trailing behind them since Ava had offered him a ride, once they had arrived in the kitchen.

They arrived at school a little while later Jeremy got out first "Thanks for the ride, Ava."

"You're welcome Jer." The brunette called after him as he made his way towards the school.

The blonde and brunette linked arms and headed into the school, but on the way in they ran into Bonnie and Elena, Ava smiled at her sister and other best friend, "Hey girls,"

"Hi, Ava." they both said.

Caroline looked between the two, "so what are we talking about? Can Aves and I offer any form of advice about it?"

"I was just talking to Elena about Stefan."

That caught Ava and Caroline's attention, "Oooh do tell," the brunette said, looking at the other two girls.

Bonnie shook her head, "I was just advising Elena to take things slow and not rush into something here."

Ava nodded, "Well Bon-Bon is right Lena, you barely know this guy so you should take her advice and be careful."

Bonnie smiled at the elder Gilbert, "Thank you, Ava."

"I agree with them, Elena, not saying don't pursue it, but just take things slow." Caroline piped up in agreement with Ava and Bonnie.

Elena rolled her eyes at them, not seeing what that issue was, "Guys, I feel good, It's been a hard year, and I'm starting to feel like things are returning to normal again. And you know what? Stefan is a big part of that."

Ava gave her sister a look, "Lena, all we are saying is to take it slow and not rush into something because Stefan could be a serial killer for all you know because you've known him for three days, get to know him more before you jump into something with him."

Stefan frowned slightly upon hearing Ava's words, he didn't see anything wrong with starting a relationship with Elena even after only knowing her for a few days, but shook it off as he walked up to the group of girls, "Good morning, Elena. Good morning, Bonnie, Ava, and Caroline."

"Morning." Ava and Caroline said at the same time, making them smirk at each other.

As Bonnie shook her head "Hey, um, I have to go, I totally forgot that I had to turn in an extra credit assignment for Mrs. Walsh, So I'll see you guys later." then she walked away.

"Bonnie, wait!" but she was already gone and since Elena doesn't have Mrs. Walsh's class she bought the excuse, but Caroline and Ava shared a look since they both have that class with Bonnie and didn't recall an extra credit assignment but neither said anything about it.

The blonde and brunette walked away as well, bidding the two goodbye as they went after Bonnie. They caught up with her a little while later, "what was that Bon?" Ava questioned.

"Yeah, because we didn't have an extra credit assignment for Mrs. Walsh's class..."

Bonnie sighed, giving the two a look, "All right, can you keep it to yourselves?"

"Of course," they said simultaneously.

Bonnie nodded deciding to trust the two with this, "All right, so after the comet, I accidentally touched Stefan's arm and I got this really bad feeling from him, it felt, dark like death, and I've just been on edge about him since then, and I can't get Elena to understand that I am just trying to look out for her... yeah sure he's helping her cope with her grief and all but I can't help but think that he has some kind of ulterior motive here, and she won't listen to me... and I can't exactly talk to anyone about it because they think I'm crazy and Grams well she'll just say that it's because I'm a witch and like that's crazy in itself because witches aren't real and why would I even want to be one?"

Ava grabbed both of the Bennett girl's hands, "Bon, breath, okay?" Bonnie nodded and took a deep breath, "There you go, it's going to be all right, just breathe for a moment and ground yourself, or you'll self-inflict a panic attack which trust me is no fun... just match my breathing." and the two continued that for a few minutes, "better?"

Bonnie nodded, "yeah, thanks, Ava."

Ava smiled at her, "You're welcome, my therapist walked me through that in a session after the accident because I got so worked up, and it caused a panic attack, and then Linda bless her soul walked me right through it just like that." Bonnie hugged the brunette and Caroline smiled at them, knowing that only a few people even knew about Ava's panic attacks to start with, though, she's worked through most of the grief and trauma by now and hasn't had one in two months. Caroline, Dr. Linda, and Jenna were the only ones who knew, in case you were wondering.

"I didn't even know you had panic attacks, Ava..."

"They started after the accident and only three people knew I didn't want everyone treating me like a fragile piece of glass that was going to break at any second, so I didn't tell but one person, Caroline, since Dr. Linda told Jenna with my permission of course in case it happened again, and it did for a while it's been two months since the last time I had one though, so I am doing better."

"Thank you for telling me now... but I do feel a little better now with the breathing."

"Good, I'm glad, Lena is stubborn, and she will just have to learn the hard way if this thing with Stefan goes sour, that's all I can say about it."

Bonnie nodded, "you're right, Aves."

The three then headed off to class as the bell rang.

***

They were in History class, now Ava was sitting beside Bonnie and took notice of the way she kept doodling down the numbers, "8", "14", and "22" and furrowed her brow at that, but decided to ask about that later.

Elena was trying to convince Stefan to try out for the football team, which he was not agreeing with.

Mr. Tanner took notice that Elena wasn't paying attention, "Ms. Gilbert." he was looking at Elena to ensure that they knew that was who he was addressing.

"Hmm?" Elena said distractedly.

"Pearl Harbor."

Suddenly the Gilbert girl looked like a deer caught in headlights, "Ummm."

"December 7, 1941," Stefan answered for her.

The History teacher looked at him, "Thank you, Miss Gilbert."

"Anytime." the green-eyed Salvatore said, a slight smirk on his face.

Mr. Tanner took that as a challenge, "Very well. The fall of the Berlin Wall."

"1989. I'm good with dates, sir."

The teacher gave him a look, "Are you? How good? Keep it to the year. Civil Rights Act."

"1964."

Mr. Tanner narrowed his eyes at Stefan, "John F. Kennedy assassination."

"1963."

They went back and forth several more times until it came to the last question, "Korean War."

"1950 to 1953."

Mr. Tanner gave him a smug look, "Ha! It ended in '52."

Stefan just shook his head, knowing that he was correct, "Uh, actually, sir, it was '53."

Mr. Tanner glared at him slightly, "Look it up, somebody. Quickly."

It got looked up, and a random student called out, "It was 19...53."

Tanner glared at Stefan and made his way back to his desk as the bell rang, dismissing the class. Everyone walked out, Ava looped her arm through Bonnie's as they walked out the door the Bennett girl smiled at her, as they walked towards their next class which they shared.

***

After school, Caroline and Ava gathered with the rest of the cheerleaders and Bonnie smiled seeing Elena show up. "Oh my gosh, you're here!" then she hugged Elena.

The time to start practice was drawing closer, but Caroline and Ava frowned they were missing someone, "all right girls, has anyone seen Hannah?" the blonde questioned.

Receiving "No" as an answer from the whole squad.

"Maybe she's just running a bit behind?" Ava said quietly to Caroline, who shrugged. It was odd for Hannah to be completely radio-silent, and then a blue Camaro pulled up.

Hannah leaned over and kissed the driver before stepping out of the car with a smirk. "Sorry I'm late, Aves, Care, but I got a little carried away this morning."

Caroline nodded at her. "Just get into position and try not to make a habit of it."

Ava on the other hand walked up to the car before Damon drove away, "Hannah can handle herself, and she is 18 so not gonna say anything about that, but I will warn you that hurting her would not be a good idea because everybody loves Hannah she is the literal embodiment of sunshine."

Damon smirked at the brunette, "Nice to see you again, Ava, and I'll keep that in mind."

"You too, Damon, and good." then she rejoined the others and Hannah gave her a look, to which Ava just gave an innocent smile. They started practice, which ended up with Caroline telling Elena to just observe for the day because she kept falling behind in the routine.

Which ended up with Elena sitting on the bleachers more so watching Stefan than cheer practice.

After practice, Ava approached Bonnie, "So what was Elena telling you? You didn't look particularly happy about it."

Bonnie sighed, "She's making me come to dinner tonight at your house with Stefan, to 'get to know' him better..."

Ava nodded at her, "Ahhh, I see, well I'll invite Care, and we will be there for moral support."

Bonnie hugged the brunette, "Thanks Aves I appreciate that."

They pulled away from the hug and Ava rejoined Caroline, "All right so dinner at our place tonight, we're going for moral support for Bonnie since Elena is making her go to 'get to know' Stefan better."

"Okay, I'll bring dessert then."

"Awesome." then Ava drops Caroline off at her house and heads back home, she showers and changes clothes and heads back downstairs seeing Elena and Bonnie in the kitchen, "Heyo girlies."

Elena rolled her eyes, but Bonnie cracked a smile and let out a quiet laugh, which made Ava grin, and the three girls got to getting everything set out. Bonnie looks at the two Gilbert girls, "You explain it. Last night, I was watching Nine-o, a commercial breaks come on, and I'm like, I bet it's that phone commercial. And sure enough, it's that guy and the girl with the bench, he flies to Paris and he flies back. They take a picture."

Elena looked back at the Bennett, "Oh, come on. That commercial's on a constant loop."

"Lena does have a point, though, Bon," Ava piped up.

Bonnie looked between them, "Fine. Well, how about this? Today, I'm obsessed with numbers. 3 numbers. I keep seeing 8, 14, and 22. How weird is that?"

"Okay, I noticed that earlier, and it's a bit weird." was Ava's response.

While Elena wasn't taking it that seriously, "Maybe we should play the lottery. Have you talked to your Grams?"

Bonnie sighed, "She's just gonna say it's because I'm a witch. I don't want to be a witch. Do you want to be a witch?"

Elena shook her head, "I don't want to be a witch."

Ava just grinned at the two, "Well, I think being a witch would be wicked cool, like you could hex people that pissed you off... and you're good as long as no one knows that it was you."

The doorbell rings as Elena pours the to-go food into a bowl. "I'll get it, it's probably Care," Ava said as she walked out of the kitchen to grab the door, she opened it and grinned, seeing her blonde best friend standing there. Ava let her in, and they headed back to the kitchen.

"I brought dessert," the blonde said, as they walked into the kitchen. They had just finished getting everything ready when the doorbell rang again.

Elena looked at them, (mainly Bonnie) "Ok, he's here. Don't be nervous. Just be your normal, loving self." Elena walked out of the kitchen to answer the door.

Bonnie closed her eyes and whispered, "Birthday candles" and opened the drawer to find the candles in the drawer, which weirded her out a little bit.

Ava and Care shared a look having seen what just happened after Bonnie walked out of the kitchen... "Maybe she is a witch, but that would be so badass, though," Ava said after she opened the same drawer as Bonnie, finding the candles there as well. "Dude, I wanna a witch, like I said, it would be so badass."

"Right?" Caroline agreed.

They joined the others in the dining room, and the five of them began to eat. Elena looked at Stefan," Did Tanner give you a hard time today?"

Stefan looked back at her, "Well, he let me on the team, so I must have done something right."

Elena was focusing more on Bonnie than the other two since Bonnie was the only one to show an open dislike of the green-eyed Salvatore. "Bonnie, you should have seen Stefan today. Tyler threw a ball right at him, and..."

Bonnie cut her off, "Yeah, I heard."

Elena decided to take a different approach, "Why don't you tell Stefan about your family?"

Ava furrowed her brow slightly, wondering what that had to do with Bonnie getting to know Stefan... but before she could voice her thoughts Bonnie spoke up. "Um, divorced. No mom. Live with my dad."

Elena shook her head, "No, about the witches. Bonnie's family has a lineage of witches. It's really cool."

Bonnie frowned slightly, "Cool isn't the word I'd use."

Caroline tilted her head to the side a little bit, "wow, I don't see how that was any of your business to bring up..." she trailed off.

Elena glared discreetly at the blonde, but Ava nodded in agreement with what Caroline had said, "Yeah Lena, really it wasn't your place to tell your new boyfriend anything about Bonnie's family when it doesn't concern him in the slightest."

Elena then turned her discreet glare to her sister, "I was just trying to find common ground here."

"Yeah, well, you didn't have to bring up Bonnie's family for that... I'm sure she told you that in confidence, not for you to blab about it to your new boyfriend."

Bonnie gave a small grateful smile to the two of them as the topic was making her a little uncomfortable, and she was wondering exactly why that was the topic Elena chose to try and find common ground for her and Stefan.

After that they changed the subject, talking about the game later that night, Ava and Caroline were talking about their routine for the game with Bonnie piping in every once in a while, while Elena discreetly rolled her eyes since they weren't even paying attention to her besides Stefan.

The dinner did not go how Elena had pictured it since Bonnie still was giving Stefan the cold shoulder.

If only Bonnie hadn't invited Ava and Caroline, then it might have gone more her way.

Ava had decided to get ready for the game with Caroline, and Care had asked Bonnie if she wanted to join them once they left the Gilbert household. Bonnie shrugged and decided to go for it.

So the three girls were at Bonnie's now getting ready for the game.

The trio were all in uniform out on the football field waiting for the rest of the squad to arrive, Ava was talking to Hannah and Bonnie, asking the short blonde-haired girl questions about Damon.

Hannah smiled, "Oooh we met at the grill a few days ago, and I struck up a conversation with him and next thing I know we're hooking up, I mean we both said no strings before the first time we had sex.... But he is so hot though."

Ava laughed, she couldn't deny that Damon Salvatore was attractive... "Ehhh true, can't deny he's attractive but totally not my type."

All three girls laughed at that before Caroline told them to get into position, and they did, the blonde looked at another member of the squad, "Hey, Tiki, it's all wobbly. Can you stand straight, please? Could someone please help Tiki?"

Elena then walked up and Caroline gave her a look, "and why aren't you in uniform?"

Elena sighed, "Because I quit." and then she pulled Bonnie to the side to talk to her. A few minutes later, Elena walked off and Bonnie joined the other girls. They were doing a mini-rehearsal before their halftime performance. While Tanner was giving his pre-game speech.

Then Matt found Mr. Tanner's body, and they canceled the game, Ava was standing with Bonnie as the police arrived Bonnie nudged Ava, as She looked at the license plate "BLDG 8", the matriculation's car was "FHT 14" and on the ground, the number 22. "Weird," Ava said as she realized that was the three numbers from earlier.

Both girls were a little freaked out by this, and Ava pulled Bonnie away from the scene and toward the parking lot.

Intending to go home and go to bed, which Ava did as soon as Bonnie dropped her off and she got changed out of her cheer uniform. She was slightly hoping to see the guy from her dream the other night.

***

Hannah is being played by Ashley Benson. (Add to leave this here since I can't add pictures to the end notes thing.)

Notes:

Yikes, it had been a hot minute (like over a year... oops) since I have updated this book but here is a new chapter :D

Y'all Bonnie's betrayal in season 4 is gonna hurt Ava so bad and it gonna hurt me to write as well... I almost wanna change that up a little to where Elena manipulates Bonnie by not telling her that they were going to kill him and just trap him in the house.

Also, Hannah was originally just gonna be a side character for Damon to hook up with consensually (she can't be compelled ;)) instead of Caroline, but IDK I kind of like her character so far and might bump her to a recurring character. What do you guys think?

I Hope you guys enjoyed the chapter, (: I really like doing cannon divergence stuff in these fics XD.

Chapter Text

Ava was disappointed that she hadn't dreamed about the guy again, but she also didn’t have the nightmare so she would take what she could get, she got up and got ready and headed down to the kitchen.

She had walked in behind Elena, hearing her aunt Jenna, “Scum ball. Scum bucket.”

“Oooh who are we shit-talking?”

“Who are you talking about?” Ava and Elena said at the same time.

Jenna snorted at Ava’s comment before pointing to the TV, “him.”

Elena gave her a look, “the news guy?”

Ava nodded, going along with what her aunt said, “So I am going to assume that we don’t like him?”

“Also known as Logan "Scum" Fell. Did your mom ever tell you why I moved away from Mystic Falls?” and then she looked at Ava, “No we do not like him, Ava.”

Elena gave her aunt a teasing look, “Oh, no way. You and him? He's cute.”

Ava looked at her sister, “Lena… get your eyes and ears checked, one he’s not cute, and two what part of we don’t like him did you not process? You are so not being a girl’s, girl right now Lena.”

Elena rolled her eyes, giving Ava a confused look, but Jenna agreed with Ava, “He is not cute. There's nothing cute about him.” then nodded at the box of things she had in front of her “What are you doing with that?”

“I went yesterday and got it from the safe deposit box. Mom had told Mrs. Lockwood, she would loan it to the founder's council for their heritage display.”

The three were looking at the contents, “is that grandma Beth’s wedding ring?”

Elena nodded, “Originally it was great-great-grandma Mary's wedding ring.”

After that, Jeremy walked into the kitchen, looked at the stuff, and then back at the three girls, “How much do you think this stuff is worth? You know, like on eBay?” Ava smacked the back of his head for the comment.

Elena glared at him, “You're not gonna find out.”

The youngest Gilbert glared at Elena, “That stuff is mom and dad's. You can't just give it away.”

“I'm not giving it away. It's called a loan, Jeremy.” Then the doorbell rang and Elena walked off to answer the door.  Ava squeezed her brother’s shoulder as he walked back out of the room.

“I am going over to Caroline’s we’re getting ready for the Founder’s party together and going as each other’s date because we couldn’t be bothered to find actual dates.”

Jenna laughed, “Well have fun Ava, have you had any more of those dream things you told me about?”

“Thanks, Aunt J, and no I haven’t which I was kind of disappointed about, I don’t know why but I wanted to see him again, the guy from the first one, but I also didn’t have a nightmare about the accident.”

Jenna smiled at her, “That’s good Ava.” the teenager kissed her aunt on the cheek.

“I’ll see you at the party tonight Aunt J.” then she grabbed her bag and keys and walked out of the house, climbing in her car she drove the short drive to the Forbes residence and used the spare key that Liz and Caroline had given, she unlocked the door and headed straight for Caroline’s room.

The blonde smiled at her as soon as she walked in, “Aves right on time.” Caroline tried her first dress on it was yellow.

Ava made a face, “Yeah no, not that dress, it’s not your color, try the blue one, I feel like it will make your eyes pop.”

The blonde gave herself a once over and nodded in agreement, “Yeah the yellow doesn’t work.” she then tried the blue one that Ava mentioned, and she twirled, “What do you think Aves?”

Ava grinned, “That dress looks so good on you Care, I was right it really brings out your eyes.”

Caroline beamed at that and it was Ava’s turn.  She tried on an orange dress first, which Caroline immediately shut down, “Absolutely not, it’s a cute dress but does not work for the event we’re going to.”

“Agreed, it would be a cute date night dress though.” the two looked through the dresses and Caroline picked out a satin green dress.

“I think this one will be perfect, Aves.” she handed it to the brunette.

Ava tried it on and did a spin for Caroline who nodded, “Yep, that’s the one Aves.”

Ava grinned “We are going to steal the show tonight Care.”

Caroline laughed, “Of course we are Aves, we’re going to look hot.”

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ*:.*:..*:...。o○ ○o。..:*..:*..:*Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

After they had their dresses picked out the two best friends decided to go to the grill, and Ava had called Bonnie, on the way asking if she wanted to join them and the Bennett girl agreed to meet them there.

Bonnie looked at the two as they walked inside the Grill, “So who are you two taking the Founder’s Party?”

They smirked at each other as Ava, answered, “Care and I are going together as friends since we couldn’t be bothered to find dates.”

She looked between them and nodded, “Okay so you’re going together what about me?” they sat down at a table.
Caroline shrugged, “go with Elena.”

“She’s asking Stefan,” Bonnie said.

Ava and Caroline shared a look, and both nodded, “Okay then you can just be our third date then.”

Bonnie smiled at the two, she appreciated that, “Okay well that works, I appreciate that guys, thank you.”

Ava beamed at her, “You’re welcome B! So Care is wearing blue and I am wearing green if you want to coordinate with us a little.”

“Okay, thanks for the info.”

Hannah joined the three at the table, “Hey girls.”

“Han, HI,” Ava said smiling at her.

“What are we talking about?”

“Dates for the Founder’s party,” Bonnie answered.

“Oh nice, who are you three going with?”

“Each other,” they answered simultaneously.

Hannah laughed, “Okay fair enough, I asked Damon if he would go with me… and he agreed.”

Ava smiled at her, she knew what Hannah had told her but would be willing to bet that they actually end up together for real, she just had a feeling. “Nice Han, I think you guys would be cute together, to be honest.”

Caroline gasped at that, “No because they would Aves you make a very good point.”

Hannah just shook her head, “We’re just hooking up guy, no strings attached.”

Ava gave her a look, “but you asked him to be your date to the founder’s party.”

“Yeah because I had to have a date, it’s so stupid though, I don’t know why they make me take a date every year.” her parents were very into town functions like all the other founding families.

Ava nodded, “I mean that is a little extreme.”  so the four spent a few hours at the grill just talking. After they left Caroline and Ava headed back to Caroline’s to start getting ready for the party.

Ava did Caroline’s hair in a cute braided look, (the same one she has in this episode for the founder’s party) The blonde then did her makeup and put on her dress and the heels that match it.

Caroline then curled Ava’s hair into perfect bouncy ringlets, the brunette then did her makeup and put her dress and black heels on.

The two had met Bonnie at the door, the Bennett witch had gotten ready with Elena, but Elena had gotten a ride from Stefan to the party

The two had met Bonnie at the door, the Bennett witch had gotten ready with Elena, but Elena had gotten a ride from Stefan to the party.

Bonnie’s dress had a cream-colored base with designs that had various shades of blue and green (as well as a few other colors as well) throughout the dress. Ava grinned at her, “You actually coordinated the colors in your dress with ours.”

Bonnie laughed, “Yeah I figured why not since you had mentioned it.” They all laughed and walked up to the door where Mrs. Lockwood saw the three girls and smiled at them “Caroline, Bonnie, Ava, you girls look gorgeous.”

“Thank you Mrs. Lockwood.” they all said.

“Come on in, and enjoy the party girls.” They walked into the house after that. Caroline excuses herself to speak to her mother.

Ava and Bonnie grabbed drinks and talked while they waited for Caroline to finish talking to her mom. The blonde rejoined them and grabbed a drink as the three girls made their way further into the Lockwood mansion.

About 30 minutes into the party and the three girls had spent the time, talking, laughing, and dancing with each other while drinking champagne.

Hannah had finally managed to get away from her parents with Damon and pulled the raven-haired vampire over to where the three girls were standing, “hey girls. You all look so good.”

Ava laughed and hugged the short-haired blonde, “Thanks Han, you look gorgeous as well,” Ava had a teasing grin on her face as she spoke to her friend, “I see you color-coordinated his suit to your dress.”

Hannah sighed, “Mom’s idea as always, I don’t think I’ve introduced you to Damon, have I? Well in that case Damon, these are my friends, Ava, Caroline, and Bonnie.”

Ava smiled at him, “Nice to see you as always Damon.”

He nodded at her, “You too little Gilbert.”

“Nice to meet you,”  Bonnie and Caroline said at the same time, making them laugh.

Ava then saw a woman out of the corner of her eye but she could have sworn she had seen her before but couldn’t place why. “I’ll be right back guys,” Ava said and then disappeared into the crowd following the woman.

She tapped the woman on the shoulder as she got close to her, “I’m sorry ma’am but I just couldn’t shake the feeling that we’ve met before.”

The woman turned around and smiled softly at the gree-eyed Gilbert, “I don’t believe we have, I’m Andy though.”

“Ava, I’m sorry about that but I could have sworn I’ve seen you before.”

“Maybe you’ve just seen me around town or something.”

“Maybe, sorry to bother you Andy… I’ll just go now.” but there was something familiar about the woman’s eyes, Ava could have sworn she had seen them before.

“It’s no problem, Ava.” then the green-eyed Gilbert walked away from the woman, who still was smiling softly at her, she just had her first real conversation with her daughter, even if the younger girl didn't know that part yet.

Ava rejoined her friends who were now standing around the original Founder’s Registry. Elena was reading off the names as Ava joined them. Caroline looked at her, “are you okay Aves?”

She nodded, “Yeah, I just thought I saw someone that I knew… turns out didn’t know them but I could have sworn I did, for a millisecond.”

Caroline nodded at her, “Gotcha Aves.”

A little while later Ava walked up to Bonnie who was standing by a display case housing a yellow/amber amulet crystal… “What’s up B?”

“I don't know but I felt drawn to the crystal… I don’t know why though, like it’s calling to me, to take it.”

“Damn okay then take it B… it’s obviously trying to tell you something.”

Bonnie shook her head, “But I can’t just steal it, Aves.”

Ava shrugged, “Sure you can.” then she grabbed a cloth and opened the case avoiding leaving her prints on the glass, and she reached in and grabbed the necklace, and let the case close again, she held the crystal out to Bonnie.

The Bennett Witch gave her a wide-eyed look, “Aves!”

Ava was unbothered, “well you weren’t going to do it, and whatever is drawing you to it wasn’t going to let you just leave it so problem solved.” she placed the crystal into Bonnie’s hand. Who just stared at her as she walked out of the room, completely unbothered.

Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ*:.*:..*:...。o○ ○o。..:*..:*..:*Ƹ̵̡Ӝ̵̨̄Ʒ

Ava got home pretty late but Jenna was still up when she walked into the kitchen, there was a lock box on the kitchen island… the strawberry blonde knew that Ava would want to see this as it had a letter to Jenna saying for her to give it to Ava if something ever happened to Grayson. Jenna had found the box earlier while she was going through the closet looking for something to wear to the party and figured the key would be in Grayson’s desk most likely so she found the key and the letter addressed to her was lying on the top of a pile of documents.

“Ava, come in here for a moment please.”

Ava walked into the kitchen, “what’s up Aunt J?”

Jenna sighed, “I found this box, in the back of the closet while I was looking for something to wear tonight, it’s a lock box and I found the key in your dad’s desk… opening the box there was a letter addressed to me, form your dad that said I should give this stuff to you if something ever happened to your dad… I have no idea what it is, I didn’t look at anything besides what was written for me… although I have a little bit of an idea what it’s about and I know Grayson would have wanted to be the one to tell you this.”

Ava had a confused look on her face, “okay?” she walked over to the table and opened the box, the first thing she saw was the original copy of her birth certificate, her brows furrowed as she read that all that was on was Avalyn Kailie and nothing else, she looked at Jenna, “what is this?”

Jenna sighed, “You were adopted, Ava, when you were just a few days old, I assume that is your original birth certificate, there was a knock at the door and Grayson answered the door and found you in a car seat on the porch. That’s what Miranda told me anyway.”

Notes:

I hope that guy enjoyed the chapter:)

We have more Hannah lore in this chapter XD She's going to be part of a made-up founding family I just haven't decided on their name yet but they are supernatural just the species is undecided yet I wanna do something different that hasn't been done a thousand times in a TVD fic.

Would you guys be interested in a little spin-off book for Hannah and Damon? Because I kind of want to do one XD.

Chapter 8: Chapter Five: Truths Revealed

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

Ava now sat at the kitchen table with Jenna sitting beside her, she was in shock... she pulled a letter out of the box that had her dad's name on it in unfamiliar handwriting. She pulled it out of the envelope and the teenager read through it... Jenna noticed the look on her face as she finished reading the letter, "what the fuck..."

"what is it, Ava?" the strawberry blonde questioned her niece curiously.

She looked at her aunt, "Well according to this letter I just read, addressed to Dad, Grayson was actually my father, but Miranda wasn't my mother, so apparently I'm a fucking affair baby... Jesus Christ."

Jenna looked at her surprised, "What the fuck indeed, can I see that letter?" Ava nodded and slid it over to her.

The brunette went back to going through the box, she found another letter Little Bird, written on the front which meant that it was to her from her dad, because that's what he called her. She opened the letter.

Ava,

My little bird, if you are reading this now, that means that something happened to me before I got to tell you the truth. I am sorry for not telling you sooner but I didn't know how to bring it up, this is a lot to take in but, you deserve to know the truth and I hoped to be able to tell you this face to face but sometimes things don't always go the way we want them to.

I found you on our doorstep ten days after you were born, but you are my daughter, Ava, a letter that was left with you, said that you were and then I had a DNA test done just to be sure and it said you were mine, I never meant for any of it to happen but I can't bring myself to regret my decisions because it gave me you Little Bird.

Your mother, the one who gave birth to you, was something I never expected, she wasn't from around here, she blew into town, and for some reason, I was drawn to her, I can't explain it, because of this I avoided her for as long as I could but eventually that wasn't working and I know that it wasn't right but I couldn't fight it anymore and our little affair started.

But she loves you so much Ava, and the only reason that she left you with me was to protect you from her crazy family as she explained in the letter she left me... I could never bring myself to tell Miranda the truth so she is still none the wiser of you being biologically mine, it would have ruined everything and I didn't want that.

Your birth mother left you a letter as well that I was going to give to you after I told you the truth it should be somewhere in the box with this letter.

I am so sorry I didn't tell you sooner little bird.

I love you so much Ava, remember that no matter what.
Love, Dad.

She sat that letter down, and sighed, "Well Dad just fully confirmed in this letter that I am a fucking affair baby and Miranda had no idea about the affair... shit man this is kind of fucked up..."

Jenna nodded, "Yeah just a little bit."

Ava let the woman read the letter, "Apparently my bio mom left me a letter and it's in this box as well." Ava once again was going through the box and she came across another letter that had 𝒜𝓋𝒶𝓁𝓎𝓃 𝒦𝒶𝒾𝓁𝒾𝑒  (Avalyn Kailie) written on the front in the same handwriting as the one to her dad. "This must be the letter then because the handwriting is the same as the one addressed to Dad."

"Damn," was all Jenna said as she finished reading the letter.

Ava nodded as she opened the letter from her birth mother.

My little darling Ava,

I am watching you sleep right now in the little crib provided by the hospital, as you were born only two days ago... this is one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, my little love, but I know that it's the right choice.

You see my family, they're crazy, especially my father, your grandfather, he would come after you if they knew of your existence which is why they must never know about you, and why I have to do what I'm doing now, I am leaving you in the care of your father and you might never actually get to meet me, when you're older but do know that I will always love you more than anything else in this world.

And because of that, I have to do what's best for you, which is why I'm writing this letter for you to read one day if your father ever decides to tell you the truth, and if not that's fine, it's completely up to him whatever he wants to do. But I do hope that he will and I'll be able to see you again my love.

Love always,

Mom.

Attached to the letter was a Polaroid, Ava picked it up and saw herself as a newborn in the arms of a woman with dark hair and green eyes. Ava blinked, "what?"

Jenna looked at her, "what is it?"

"A photo of my bio mom holding me after I was born... but I saw her tonight at the party... just a glimpse but I got the feeling that I had seen her before so I went after her, just to see... her eyes were what stood out to me as familiar and now I know it's because I see them whenever I look in the mirror... she didn't say anything about it then."

Jenna looked at the photo, "Wait I've seen her around town before... your dad had spoken to her a few times, but they never gave anything away, always just normal friendly chatter... damn, but you do have her eyes though as you said, I never noticed it before."

Ava sighed, "This is so not how I thought my night was going to end... shit... what am I supposed to do now? I can't tell Jer or Lena, I just can't at least not right now..." Ava looked at her aunt, "is it bad that I want to know more about her? Like I love mom, she raised me for sixteen years even if she didn't know the truth and loved me as if I were her own... but now knowing that I have a parent still out there? I'm curious."

Jenna smiled at the girl it wasn't her fault any of this happened, "You can do whatever you feel is right Ava... and no it's normal to be curious about things like this, especially when they're dropped on you unexpectedly like this... so no I don't think it's bad that you want to know more... and yes Miranda did love you very much kiddo and I believe she still would have loved you as her own even if she had known because that's just how my sister was..."

Ava nodded because she knew that Miranda was one of the sweetest people... after going through everything in the box, Ava put everything back inside and locked up to keep anyone she didn't want to know about this from opening the box.

"Are you okay after everything we just learned Ava?"

She sighed, "I don't know Aunt J... I think I just just need to go to bed and think about everything... so uhh ask me that again tomorrow for a more definitive answer."

Jenna nodded, "That is understandable Ava... okay then just go get some rest and think about everything." Ava hugged her.

"Thank you for telling me about this Aunt J."

Jenna hugged her back, "Of course Ava." then Ava gathered everything up and headed up to her room.

She put the box under her bed and the key in her nightstand drawer. Then she got some pajamas and took a shower and got ready for bed, her mind was reeling from everything that she had discovered that night.

She massaged her temple as she climbed into bed that night.

Ava noticed that she was in a dark room once again, and she smiled hoping that it meant that she would get to see the man from before again, the one that made her feel safe if that made sense.

The scene started to fade in around her, as she noticed that there was some kind of party going on and the room was decorated for Christmas. She smiled as she walked towards a door, seeing a pretty blonde in a gorgeous red dress, was standing outside of it, before she opened the door.

" Do you insist on pilfering before cocktails?" the blonde spoke to someone in the room.

Ava smiled as she heard his voice again, it sounded exactly the same as it had in the last dream thing that she had, " Nik stole something that belongs to me. I'm simply taking it back."  Ava sidestepped the blonde into the room wanting to see him again.

She felt her breath catch in her throat again he looked, even better this time around if that was even possible.

The blonde smiled at Kol, "And I'm simply going to tell Nik!" She turns to leave, but Kol rushes after her to stop her.

"Wait!" the blonde turns toward him, and Kol sighs, as he speaks again a little nervously, "What if I said I'm close to finishing a dagger that would work on him?" Ava had no idea what was going on but she did know that she had a bad feeling about whatever this was.

The blonde looked at him, "You wouldn't dare use it."

Kol shrugged, "Why? It's no more than he's done to us. And you've suffered at his hands more than anyone! And, it's not like we'd be killing him. Just giving you some time to be with Marcel."

Ava noticed the stunned look on the blonde's face, "You're entirely serious."

Kol looked very serious, "Haven't we both earned the right to live out of his shadow? Are you with me, sister?"

Ava watched as the blonde silently considered this offer for a moment, " You can count me in. But, do hurry downstairs, and throw on one of Nik's jackets. He'll notice your absence if you're late."  Then she walked out of the room.

Ava for some reason did not like this one bit while Kol looked thrilled that she had agreed to be on his side.  "I don't like this..." Ava muttered to herself since no one else could hear her.

The scenery changed it was later in the evening now and Ava was back in the middle of the party, her eyes glued to Kol, she really did not like the feeling that she was getting right now.

Rebekah walks up the stairs, where Klaus, Elijah, Kol, and Marcel are all drinking champagne and posing for a family photograph. Ava's eyes were still glued to Kol as she fidgeted nervously, she knew that she couldn't actually do anything about whatever was going to happen.

After the photo has been taken, Klaus taps on his glass with a knife to get the party's attention "As you know, when the Mikaelsons arrived in Louisiana, we brought with us the tradition of holiday bonfire season. Now, we invite you chosen few to join us in our family's own tradition of writing wishes for each other and burning them for luck. The holidays are a time for celebrating family, and friends."

Ava was wringing her fingers together, her bad feeling returning, as she saw the man she knows is called Niklaus, look at one of the other men, up there, before he looked at Kol who she could tell looked suspicious.

"It is especially gratifying in times when treachery runs deep. To know you have someone you can trust. A toast, to you, my sister."

Rebekah smiles up at Klaus, who returns it. "To Rebekah!" the crowd cheered.

"Well at least I know her name now, and who she is kind of..."

Kol, now very worried, starts to head up the stairs to get away from his brothers, but Elijah quickly vamp-speeds after him. When he blocks Kol's path, Kol turns around to find Klaus blocking the exit behind him. Elijah grabs him by the arms and pulls his jacket off, as Klaus calls out to the crowd below.  Ava glared at Elijah as well not liking the way he was holding Kol.

Ava furrowed her brow realizing that Rebekah had snitched on him... "why would she do that? he was trying to help her, in his own way..." Ava muttered to herself, she was confused as to why Rebekah would betray him to their brother, he just wanted Nikluas to feel his pain, their pain because apparently, the daggers are a common thing with him.

"Ladies and gentlemen, I apologize for the disturbance! But, what's a Mikaelson party without a little squabble?" Klaus pulls out a silver dagger and stabs Kol in the heart with it. Rebekah, who's watching from the stairs, smiles devilishly.

Ava glared at the blonde not liking the way she snitched on Kol to their brother, before she gasped, feeling the same pain as before when Kol got daggered, Ava shot up in her bed, rubbing her chest over her heart. "what the hell is wrong with me?" She muttered before she glanced over at her clock and saw that it was 6 AM and she knew that she had to get up and get ready for school.

Notes:

So Ava knows part of the truth now XD She will find out about the supernatural part later, and she had another 'dream' where she saw Kol's memories (: but I hope that you guys enjoy the chapter :)
