The Morning After

Summary:

Luz pulled the purple haired girl out of her thoughts again for the uncounted time tonight and physically pulled Amity down to the bed. There they laid in front of each other closely. Luz smiled to herself and pulled Amity in closer, letting the sound of her own heartbeat sooth the Blight girl. She continued to hold the girl close as her breath began to steady.

Notes:

a cute oneshot inspired by pr1smca artwork in ig from like 2020. Just to clarify, this is not a smut but it is heavily implied that they did do...it.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Amity jolted awake and gasped, taking in her surroundings. She looked around the room and noticed the clothes scattered across her bedroom floor. Amity placed her hand in front of her face, letting her eyes gently focus before looking around again.

Taking a look at herself, Amity felt the soft cotton of the hoodie against her skin and recognized it as the same green hoodie Luz Noceda wore in their shared literature and creative writing lectures. Amity patted her hands against the mattress, trying to find her cell phone in the sea of covers. After locating her device, she turned it on and winced at the sudden brightness. Not letting her eyes adjust, she checked the time and powered her phone off, tossing it onto her bedside table. 5:47am

Memories began to flood the purple haired girl’s mind as she stared at the misplaced clothes. She gently brought her hand to her collar bone, prodding at the fully formed bruises. She winced as she applied more pressure against the hickeys. Amity quietly relished in the inviting pain as she thought of the girl who caused them.

Amity remembers how she finally found the courage to ask out the girl she had been crushing on since her second year of college. It might’ve taken her a year and a half, but it finally paid off when they bonded over her favorite child book series.

Her mind travels to the memory of them trading numbers and planning a date. Luz had picked up Amity and took her to a small diner for dinner and then ventured to a bar for drinks. She recalls how the Latina called her such sweet things in her native tongue.

The purple haired girl remembered how they had a good time and how she flirted shamelessly with Luz. She thought about how they hit it off immediately. The way Luz laughed at all her jokes and how she laughed at all of Luz’s. They found out that they had been interested in each other for around the same amount of time. She remembered how Luz reached across the table to tuck the purple strands of hair behind her ear. She remembered how her hands felt against her jaw. The way her thumb softly traced her jawline.

She remembered when Luz suggested they drink moderately. They had every other chance to make dumb decisions fueled by incoherent thoughts. She had thoughts of them seeing each other again!

Amity recalled when Luz kissed her goodnight in front of her apartment door. How she boldly asked the girl to stay the night. Amity let the memories play back over. She remembered how they stood there, awkwardly in the living room. Luz stood there slowly taking her surroundings, not sure where the night was currently going to lead her. Amity remembered how she was on a sudden streak of boldness when she gathered all her courage to press herself against Luz, stealing a kiss. She had backed away to apologize only to be pulled back in. She remembered how the taller girl's hands felt against her waist. How their lips locked to one another’s.

She replayed the memory of her back crashing against the wall as she let Luz lead the kiss. The way Luz licked over the bottom of Amity’s lip and how Amity invited the tongue into her mouth with no hesitation. Her hands traveled up the girl’s body and found their way in the Luz’s soft brown locks. She relived how it felt when Luz’s gentle hands grasped at the now auburn roots, giving her hair a gentle tug, receiving a quick gasp. She thought about how it felt when they stumbled blindly through Amity’s apartment, still kissing until they managed to find her bedroom in the dark.

Amity’s face flushed bright red when she remembered how it felt for her back to slam against her familiar mattress. She relived how it felt when Luz’s lips trailed down her neck and onto her collarbone. The soft kisses that turned into sucking and biting. Luz had eagerly taken the skin between her lips, releasing the spot when she felt satisfied with the soft bruising that formed.

Amity remembers how they peeled out of their clothes and held each other close. The soft gasps and hums of approval. The low groans and mumbles in Spanish. She could almost feel the rough calloused hands against her bare torso. The tight but gentle hold.

Amity was brought back to the present when she realized how cold the bed felt. They had fallen asleep together, but where was Luz? She looked around frantically, the realization had set in that Luz had left while she was asleep. Amity knew that the morning after was probably the most emotional, but she didn’t expect to be left alone like that. No text. Not even a half-scribbled note on her bedside table.

Amity could feel the tears flood her waterline, but she did not let herself cry. She was twenty-one years old. Amity was a Blight and Blights do not cry over trivial matters. But for some odd reason this didn’t feel so small. She went out on a limb and took a risk. She asked out the girl she had pined over for so long and they had a good time together. A great time even.

She shared something so intimate with Luz, so Amity couldn’t understand why she woke up alone. Was Luz truly a horrible person? Did she just say what she needed to say to see Amity in such a vulnerable state. Was Amity now ‘just another girl’ to Luz?

Amity felt her heart slowly shatter at every thought that flooded her mind. She leaned back, letting one arm behind her to support her weight in the bed.

Was Amity a fool? No. She was just a victim of circumstance. How could she have misread the taller girl’s intentions? She seemed like a genuine person, but it appeared to Amity that this wasn’t the truth. Amity still refused to let the tears run down her face, because once the first one comes it will be like a faucet.

Amity was brought out of her thoughts when she heard the soft clicks of her door opening and closing. Her head snapped up to the source of the sound to see Luz Noceda. Luz stood by the frame of the door and let out a loud yawn before scratching the back of her head. There in all her glory stood the girl Amity thought left her to deal with the baggage of emotions alone. There Luz stood wearing a slightly small Azura t-shirt and a random pair of shorts.

Luz looked at Amity with a small look of confusion before her expression changed to a soft smile. Slowly Luz walked towards the bed, the soft smile lingered on her face as she lifted the covers and climbed back into the bed. Amity continued to sit up confused. She could’ve sworn Luz left her. She had hoped she stayed but after going through that rollercoaster of thoughts and emotions, she hadn’t expected the universe to give her something to smile over after all.

“Go back to sleep hermosa” she mumbled sleepily. “I’m right here. I’m not going anywhere amor” She reassured the girl before kissing her forehead gently and whispered more soft thing in Spanish.

Amity smiled to herself at the reassurance and closed her eyes, letting her snuggle into the warm body next to her as they drift back to sleep. She was glad she didn’t have to spend the morning after alone.
