Work Text:
Byleth Eisner never thought they’d be the domestic type, cooking, cleaning, or their personal favorites was spending the morning sleeping in with their spouse. Byleth had long since given up their mercenary lifestyle, in place for the constant warmth they get when they spend time with the Blue Lions.
There was always one that stood out to them, the one that was the key to unlocking a world of emotions. That was one Sylvain Jose Gautier peacefully sleeping next to Byleth. One thing Byleth would never stop doing is waking up at the first sight of dawn, they would never admit this but they loved watching the slow rise and fall of Sylvain's chest. It put them at ease knowing they were finally in true peaceful times, no more worrying if they would be able to see their husband's smiling face. It was a guarantee now.
Byleth thought it was probably time to wake Sylvain. But he looked so peaceful they did not want to wake him so abruptly like every other morning.
“Maybe I could wake him with a kiss.” Byleth whispered.
It was romantic, a nice tradition Byleth could start now. They turned over towards the sleeping redhead admiring his sleeping face one more time. As they started to lean down to kiss him getting just centimeters away from his lips, mint hair probably tickling his face they started to get embarrassed. This is incredibly silly, Byleth thought to themself. He probably would not even wake up from a kiss. This awkward hesitation went on for what felt like hours when in reality it was merely a couple of seconds.
That was until Sylvain opened his eyes and said, “Well if you won’t do it I will.”
With that, he leaned his head up a bit to meet his embarrassed wife’s lips for a quick peck. Then laying back down on the bed with the most obnoxious smirk on his face. Byleth, now flustered with a dusting of blush on their cheeks, lays back down and hides their face in the crook of Sylvain’s neck.
“You are incorrigible, you know that right?” Byleth says with a hint of a whine in their voice.
Sylvain chuckles at his wife's antics and replies teasingly, “Only for you my starshine, and you’re stuck with my incorrigible self until death do us part.”
“How long have you been awake?” Byleth asked, now nestled in her husband's arms.
“Oh not long By, just enough to fully know your romantic plans to wake me up with a kiss” He kissed them on the forehead as he replied.
They cuddled in silence for the next hour or so before officially getting up for the day, Byleth took in their husband's scent. Due to the tea Byleth brewed to help the two of them sleep, he always smelled of bergamot, musk, and lavender. A most comforting scent coupled with the feeling of his warmth. A warmth that surrounded Byleth constantly. As well as a warmth that Byleth will get to feel for forever, hopefully.
