I love you my Talia.

She hadn’t responded yet. To be fair they had a nine-hour time difference she was probably asleep or at class. He shoved his phone into his back pocket and stared at the Ferris wheel. The flashing pink, blue, and red lights gave him a headache. The height of the wheel made him want to vomit. What if he fell? They had a support bar. But what if it was faulty? He pushed those thoughts even deeper into his head, but every time he looked at the ride his stomach flipped.
The sun had begun to set when they got on the ride. The sky was filled with a faint pink and orange. Ocean and Constance got in a cart. He and Noel got in a cart with Ricky getting in a cart with some girl that just joined the choir. He didn’t remember her name. He’ll have to ask her that later. The Ferris wheel's height made him shaky. He took a couple of calming breaths and stared at the sunset. It reminded him of his mother's apartment. The warm oranges and yellows covered every square inch of that place. So many memories were made there. Noel leaned on the bar looking out to the sun. He had this sight smile on his face and a dreamy look in his eyes. It made the butterflies in Mischa’s stomach unbearable. He looked beautiful. He wanted to check his phone again but his hands were too clammy. He would probably drop it to the ground below and then Talia would be gone. His one beloved Talia would be gone.
“Hey, are you okay?”
He looked at Noel as they were reaching the very top of the Ferris wheel. The ride just stopped. He looked down below, that didn’t help his fear, he could see some of the ride operators running around like ants trying to fix the problem.
He cleared his throat. “Yeah, I’m fine.”
“If you didn’t want to go on this ride it would’ve been fine.”
“No, no, I’m fine.”
“Are you afraid of heights?” Noel questioned. That question made his blood boil. He was supposed to be strong and fearless. Not afraid that he’ll lose his shoe hanging what seems like a thousand feet in the air.
“I am not,” he gritted his teeth and tightened his grip on the support bar. He was supposed to be a man. A man that would protect and save. Not a boy wandering through the forest with his heart in his hands. Deep down he just wanted someone to acknowledge him. Someone to say “everything is going to be okay.” And hold him in their arms to let him cry.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.”
Noel placed an oddly freezing hand over his. Noel leaned in and kissed his cheek. It was warm. Mischa placed a hand over the place where Noel kissed him. “I have a-“
Noel bit his lip unable to contain his smile he looked out to the sunset. Mischa saw him kick his legs excitedly. “I know,” he cut him off while beaming. The bright sun rays made his skin look like shiny gold. “You know I have a fiancé right?” Noel nodded. “I just wanted to do that.” The ride started to slowly rotate again. Mischa felt this weird mix of passion, disgust, and rage. Why would Noel kiss him? Mischa knew Noel was desperate for love, but not so desperate that he would kiss a man who had a fiancé. His stomach started to churn he didn’t even realize he was standing on solid ground.
“Hey, can we all ride The Cyclone? It’s my favorite ride! Also, that fortune-telling machine told us to do it.” Constance had run over to Ocean.
“That machine only had one automated message, Constance.”
“I know, but still it’ll be fun.”
They had all chosen rides to go on that day except Constance. The wait for the Cyclone was pretty short. Seeing the two loops on the rollercoaster made his skin turn icy cold. They got on the ride in the same seating as the Ferris wheel. Ocean with Constance, Ricky with some girl, and Mischa with Noel.
“Hey Mischa, can I talk to you?” Noel said nervously wringing his hands and looking toward the roller coaster floor. It was deep red and covered bright pink bubble gum that hasn’t been scraped off yet.
“Sure.”
“Okay so um I wanted to say this I don’t really care if you're mad at me, but I just want to get it out of the way. Um I-.”
“ ATTENTION RIDERS PLEASE KEEP YOUR HANDS AND FEET IN THE COASTER AT ALL TIMES. ENJOY THE CYCLONE.”
The cart slowly started to move.

Mischa looked over to Noel and said “Tell me after the ride.”

“I just feel like I should get it out now instead of later. It’s kind of important.”

“Tell me later, Noel.”

“Mischa please-.” Noel reached for his hand and Mischa pulled away

He didn’t say anything to Noel after that. The rollercoaster reached the top of the hill and rushed down. He didn’t scream he was preoccupied with keeping his hat on his head. Then the first loop came up.
SCREEEEEEEEECH
The sound made him cover his ears. He heard loud screams coming from the other choir members as the roller coaster fell off the track.
Ocean was the first to fall. She uselessly moved her arms to grab anything. She hit the concrete with a sickening crunch. Ricky slipped out next using his crutches to try and get back in the roller coaster. He got most of the way there, but something about his face changed. Then he voluntarily let go. Falling feet first into the ground below. Why?
Very faintly he could hear someone laughing. What were they? Crazy? Constance fell next while laughing like some insane person. She hit the track below splitting her body into two. Her legs flew up into the air and landed next to a child observing the accident happening. Her blood spilled out like red ribbons flying through the air and landing in defeat on the ground. Noel was gripping the support bar trying desperately to not fall with the others. The random girl fell next, her head hit the track below. It caved her head in making it look like she had a red balloon in the place of her head. Noel fell next he tried to claw back up to Mischa, but he kept on grabbing air. With teary eyes, he hit the pavement next to Ocean and Ricky. His neck snapped with blood flowing out of his mouth. He could barely hear gurgling and choking sounds coming from Noel’s lifeless body. The gray concrete was covered in a deep red crimson. Then this sort of weightlessness washed over him. He saw his mother, Tamara, while she baked bread with the little to no food they had in the apartment. He saw her in the bathroom crying and vomiting up her workday while he held her hair back. He saw his adoptive parents looking at him in shock and disgust when they realized he wasn’t a two-year-old child. He saw his first interaction with Talia. The very last memory he saw was Noel on the Ferris wheel. With his golden skin and soft smile. He felt almost every emotion at once. All of the rage and passion built up in him. His very last thought crossed his mind…….
I love you my Talia.
