The parties are wild, the relationships are wild, and the Newsies had their own little tradition. Every year, the older boys competed to see who could get kissed before anyone else in the first minute of the new year. The winning pair got the best selling spot guaranteed for the month of January.
Racetrack Higgins had won four years in a row. After having successfully dethroned Jack, who both started the tradition and cheated every year, Race had spent hours plotting a new strategy to keep winning. Eventually, he came to the conclusion that he needed to have a guaranteed kiss. The split second of trying to figure out who to kiss was holding him back, and that was where Spot Conlon came in.

So I’m in love with Crystallizedtwilight’s tumblr post about the Newsies.
(No seriously I LOVE how she draws the Newsies.)
She’s got a whole RedFinch timeline and I thought “What if I made that into a fanfic?” And here we are.
It’s not 100% accurate to her timeline because I had a few things in mind for storytelling purposes, but it’s very much inspired by her storyline for them.
