Chapter 1: As we begin

Chapter Text

Tommy sighed as he led his last customer out of his shop, a sweet old lady, but Tommy was exhausted, once he made sure she got to her car safe. He closed the blinds and locked all the doors.

He sighed and walked onto the patio to greet his cow he named Henry even though she was a girl, her little calf named Clemintine. Tommy fed the girls and then walked upstairs to his room.

He took a shower and changed from the blue cardigan and long beige cargo pants to a large gray t-shirt and black basketball shorts. He brushed his teeth and put his blond shoulder-length hair up into a ponytail.

The next morning before opening up he fed both Clemintine and Henry, prepped and restocked the kitchen, and walked out to open the shop, he went over to sit down by the counter when a WOOSH flew by him.

“Hello Monarch.” he sighed as he sipped a cup of coffee.

“Hello Tommy.” The hero smiled as he took his white and green bucket hat off and slightly bowed at the boy. “Can I get my usual?”

“On it!” He responded as he walked to the kitchen. He walked to the register minutes later with a coffee in hand. “That’ll be 4.57, cash or card?”

“Cash today.” he handed Tommy a five.

“Would you like to donate the rest of the change Sir?”

“To who?” Tommy gave Monarch a look.

“To me…” Monarch laughed and nodded, he walked out wishing Tommy a good day. But that was the first and last good thing that day.

People came in with horrible moods and screamed at each other, getting Tommy to intervene and kick several people out. One person even tried to rob him... Tommy gave the man a deadpan look and dragged the man out as he screamed. He told the man to never come into his shop again unless he was going to buy something. His day somehow got even worse.

He was about ready to kick a lady out of his shop, she was screaming at her kid who accidentally dropped his pastry.

“Ma’am it's fine.” he tried to calm her down. “I can clean that up real quick.”

“No!” she yelled, turning towards him. “He’s been a brat all day! I can’t catch a break!” She faced the kid again as she began to raise her hand but before she did anything, a string of vines pulled her back.

“What!” she was stuck to the ground as vines were wrapped around her wrists. The vines then disappeared and the woman stood up.

Tommy ran towards the woman, “Ma’am are you okay?”

She looked up at the boy, and nodded, she then looked at her kid and sighed. “I think I should apologize…” she walked over to her kid and talked to him for a while before the two eventually left the building. Tommy cleaned up the mess and closed the shop early.

He freaked out in his room about the mysterious roots that attacked that woman. He paced and paced the room, he had a weird relationship with the nature that he lived around, his fond connection with the animals that roamed around the area he lived in.

He shook his head, “There’s no way that was me…” he walked over to his bed grabbing his phone. “Plant magic is rare… and it’s not really looked up upon.” and he cringes.

Plant magic was really powerful, and it was said to be used by the wealthy to curse other lands making their own crops for profit. He knew little of his family but he did know one person was outcasted for having plant magic. No one talked of their magic or their traits as hybrids.

Tommy was fortunate enough to not gain any traits, not that he knew what he was.

He then walked back downstairs to a corner of the room that he set up when he first opened the shop. There were 4 large bean bags placed around a small table and smaller tables on their sides. He sat down and looked at the ceiling pondering over this new problem. He felt as if he caused the vine incident, but refrained from thinking about it any further.

The next morning he decided to put up some Help Wanted signs. He needed the help anyway. He ran his shop like usual, some regulars asking for a new item on the menu.

“You have cheesecake?” a woman asked, she was one of his best customers, Alyssa. She was a sweet woman and helped Tommy when he was in high school.

“Yep!” he smiled at her, “Wanted to try something new.” He handed her a coffee and the cheesecake. “Tell me if it needs anything!” he said as she left.

The rest of the day went smoothly, and as he came to closing he heard yelling.

“Dad!” a younger voice screamed. “Dad you’re drunk!”

“I don’t care you lazy brat!” a gruff voice called out. “I told you to do something and all you did was sit in your room!”

“I was finishing school work!” the boy yelled back. Tommy followed the voices to find two ram hybrids butting heads. The shorter one wore overalls with a black and yellow striped shirt. “You know what I’m done!” the boy yelled.

“You'll never make it by yourself!” the older ram screamed, he wore a blue sweater and shorts.

"Watch me!" the older ram slammed the door and the smaller one just stood there.

The sky turned gray and rain began to pour, the boy looked up at the sky, he then looked to the ground. His shoulders began to shudder, and he cried.

“What am I gonna do now?” his voice wavered. Tommy sighed, and he walked away. He walked to the doors of his shop and sighed again, then-

He turned his ass around and found the boy walking out of the alleyway. He crashed into the boy and the two tumbled to the ground, “Ow, fuck…” he cursed under his breath.

“Oh shit…” the boy held his head, “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s alright,” Tommy said as he pushed himself off the ground. “Are you okay?” The boy looked at him wide-eyed.

“I…” Tommy held his hand out to the boy, helping him off the ground “I- I just got kicked out…” Tommy tried his best to act surprised as if he didn’t just eavesdrop. “I'm Tubbo.”

“I'm Tommy.” He held his hand out and shook Tubbo's hand, “Do you need a place to stay?” Tommy offered, he kind of wanted some type of company other than his regulars and his cows.

“You know a place?” the boy perked up.

“Yeah…” The two boys walked through the streets when Tommy led Tubbo into the shop.

There was a row of Lily of the valleys surrounding an alleyway.

The next morning Tubbo asked as Tommy made breakfast, “Who owns the place?”

“I do…”

“What!?” Tubbo exclaimed.

“Yep!” he laughed as he flipped some eggs. “Got the place when I was 15… Told the seller I was 18 and just moving out.” he placed the eggs on a plate and sighed. “No one wants to live out here but it's cheaper. And no one wanted this building.”

“How did you get the crops and shit!” Tubbo asked again.

“I grew them…”

“What do you have fucking plant magic!?”

Tommy sunk into his seat as he remembered what happened to that lady the week prior. “No…” he puffed his chest, “I just have a green thumb, I think I got it from one of my foster families…”

“How?”

“Well in one of the foster homes I was in, I had a foster brother who loved to plant potatoes and carrots.” he slightly chucked before looking to the ground. “I guess it's not the only thing I got from him…”

“Tom-”

“Anyways!” he said as he shot up from his seat. “What are you going to do?”

“Well…” he looked at Tommy with a worried glance before grabbing the plate of eggs Tommy brought over. “I need to look for a job… and then I need-”

There was loud knocking at the door, Tubbo looked at Tommy to find him slowly creeping to one of the blinds. All the blinds were shut and the shop was dark aside from the kitchen.

“Someone please!” Tubbo could see Tommy’s eyes widen as the woman pleaded for help. Tommy then rushed to the door when-

THUD

Tommy froze and opened the door to see an arachnid hybrid woman on the floor and her arms holding a body who began to cry.

Tommy quickly brought the woman into the building and locked the doors.

“Ma’am!?” he hushed, she looked at him weakly and held the set of arms that was holding a small bundle to Tommy. Once Tommy had the bundle, the woman shriveled up and disappeared. He uncovered the bundle to a small arachnid child wailing. Tommy began to gently rock the child and they began to calm down, Tommy sighed and looked at Tubbo.

“What the fuck-”

Chapter Text

“Ma’am I know you’re upset but can you please wait?” Today happened to have a rush hour and Tommy hated rush hour. People flocked and he was low on staff, his shop was getting more popular and he hated it.

“Next!” He called, and a small orange and white fox hybrid walked up to the counter and slammed a piece of paper on the counter.

“Can I have a job?” the boy almost screamed. Tommy looked over to his shoulder and yelled.

“Tubbo!” he huffed, “Take over for me real quick!” Tommy walked over as Tubbo took over at the counter.

“Mr. Innit?” the boy asked. “Can-”

“How old are you?” Tommy butted in.

“15…” the boy looked down when he spoke, Tommy knew the struggle of getting a job at a young age.

Tommy sighed and nodded, “You can start tomorrow, come back at 6 so I can teach you the basics.” The boy nodded. “What's your name?”

“Fundy.” the boy smiled and ran off. He walked over to the counter and Tubbo was doing great.

The night before Tubbo asked if he could work for Tommy, and Tommy agreed.

The little arachnid child Tommy had just taken in was wild but he was calm when Tommy needed him to be. The little boy didn’t speak but he knew sign language, and Tommy had learned ASL in high school, so everything went smoothly.

Later in the day the child finally told Tommy his name.

“S-H-R-O-U-D” the small child spelled out. Tommy puffed his chest up in glee and picked up the boy.

“An adorable name for an even more adorable child!” Tommy laughed as he placed Shroud on the ground. “I’ll spend more time with you in a bit bud. I gotta go finish work.” Shroud nodded, and Tommy rushed down the stairs.

“Hello?” some woman asked, she stood by the counter impatiently, “I’ve been waiting forever for my drink!” Tommy felt his eye twitch as he walked up to the woman. He looked at Tubbo who rolled his eyes at the sight of the woman.

“Um… What did you order?” The woman instantly perked up and then began to list a group of things Tommy doesn’t serve. “Ma’am… we don’t serve that.”

“You did last week!” she huffed.

“No… we didn’t.” He sighed and looked at the woman, “I’m sorry Ma’am but we don’t serve this stuff.” she gritted her teeth and stomped away.

“Um hello…” a voice called… unsettlingly familiar. Tommy turned to see a man. He wore round glasses and a yellow knitted turtleneck shirt, and black jeans with boots. His hair was wildly curly and brown.

“Hello?” Tubbo chimed in, “How may I help you?”

“Yes! Can I get a-”

“Wilbur… You are not ordering my drink.” another man said as he gasped for air. “Not after last time…” a man who facially looked almost like this ‘Wilbur’ had long pastel pink hair pulled into a low ponytail and a pair of square glasses. He wore a black turtleneck, with black dress pants and shoes.

“Techno come on, it wasn't THAT bad.” Wilbur gave Techno a cheeky smile and then turned to Tubbo. “I’d like a light roast coffee with 3 shots of espresso.” He then turned to Techno who sighed as he stepped forward.

“Can I get a black coffee with light cream?” Tubbo nodded and turned to the cash register.

“That’s gonna be… $7.50.” Wilbur gave him a ten-dollar bill, when he got his change back he put the rest in a tip jar and smiled. Tommy made the drinks and set them on the counter called the names and walked off.

“Hey!” a gruff voice said, he turned to see ‘Techno’ come to the counter. “Do you think I can grab a slice of your carrot cake?” the man was fairly buff and his eyes lit with excitement.

“Yeah sure?” Tommy grabbed a large slice of cake before setting it on the counter. “That’ll be a dollar.” Techno handed him the dollar before grabbing the cake and walking off to Wilbur happily.

The two left after they were done, and both Tommy and Tubbo were exhausted out of their minds. They quickly closed shop before dinner, shroud joined them, and happily ate some pasta.

The next morning Fundy came in early as Tommy and Tubbo set up the tables. Tommy taught him how to make the simpler drinks, and as people came in he had Fundy do the simple tasks.

“Great job kiddo,” Tommy said as he scruffed the top of the boy's head. It reminded him of someone from his past, but he shook it off and continued work.

The week went on but Tommy got more stressed, Shroud and Tubbo were beyond good and the two made Tommy feel safe, but anything other than that made it worse. People screamed at him and complained about things that were out of his control. He wanted to sit in a hole and die.

He began to see plants grow around his shop and not the good ones. There were-

“Wither roses!” Someone yelled, the woman was frantic when she saw the thing pop out of nowhere. “Don’t touch it.” Another person yelled. Tommy grew into a panic, his breath began to pick up and he stepped back as his head began to feel lighter. His head began to spin and he couldn’t walk straight.

Vines then began to grow from the walls and Tommy could do nothing about it, his shop was not gonna stay in business if this kept happening. He started to think that maybe…

All he could see was black.

Tubbo yelled for everyone to leave and he took Tommy to one of the few hospitals in the city of Manburg.

“Does he have any history of hybrid traits?” one of the doctors asked. Tubbo shook his head and the doctor sighed. She pulled out her phone and dialed a number. “I’m gonna need to take someone to the Tower…” the doctor turned from the boys. Shroud was covered up and at Tubbos hip, “No… this is serious-” she snapped her mouth shut and sighed. “Either you take him or I will do something you won’t like.” Tommy lay sickly still in the bed as his face began to burn up. “Shit.” the doctor cursed. They closed the room and checked Tommy’s temperature.

“What’s wrong!” Tubbo could feel a lump in his throat. Tommy writhed around the bed.

“I need you to step back…” the doctor pressed a button as a large box of steel surround Tommy, as vines began to fill up the box and blood-curdling screams muffled it.

“What are you doing to him!” Tubbo screamed as the door burst open.

“What- Whoah…” a hero had burst into the room as another walked in behind him.

“If you don’t let me and my friend leave I’m gonna kill you…” Tubbo threatened, then realized he’d have to drag Tommy home.

One of the heroes stepped up to Tubbo looking him in the eyes, the two stared at each other with straight faces. He had a pink boar mask and long pink hair pulled into a neat braid, he also wore what looked like an emperor's clothing with a bright red cape with white ‘fur’ around the shoulders.

“If you two would stop, we have a serious issue.” The doctor deadpanned.

“Ponk?” the other said, he had a black mask that covered his whole face, and his curly brown hair stuck out. He wore a large brown trench coat and black pants that were loose at the bottom.

“Plant magi…” The doctor said under his breath.

“What!?” The brown-haired hero exclaimed. “How is that possible!?”

The steel box suddenly closed but it was-

“Empty!?” Ponk looked around the room in a panic. “Where is he!?”

Tubbo’s mind went blank as he saw a small white mouse hiding under the bed. Tubbo walked over to the bed and let the mouse crawl up his leg and hide in his jacket. Something is wrong.

“Can I go now…?” he sighed. “I need to get home and take care of my kid…” he lied.

“No.” Ponk looked at the boy. “What do you know about this kid?” They said as she got loomed over Tubbo.

“I-I don’t know anything! He just works with me!” he lied again. Tubbo knew that Tommy had some kind of magic but didn’t know what kind. He was willing to lie to protect his friend. Plus he didn’t want anything tied to the both of them.

“What’s his name?” Tubbo looked at the ground. He was not going to let Tommy get hurt.

“Simon… his name is Simon.” he said looking directly into Doctor 'Ponk’s’ eyes.

She looked at him and nodded. “You can go…” Tubbo calmly walked out of the hospital before running to the shop.

“Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck” he entered the shop before quickly locking the doors and shutting all the blinds making the shop dark. He turned on the kitchen lights and set the little mouse and Shroud down. “Tommy?” the mouse looked at him and jumped. “Oh, my prime.”

Then there was a large puff of smoke as Tommy looked at his hands as he sat on the counter. “What the fuck!” he yelled.

“Tommy.” Tubbo’s voice shook. “Why did you lie?”

“Lie?” Tommy looked at the boy, “When the fuck did I lie?”

“You told me you didn’t have any magic…” Tommy’s eyes widened as he looked frantically around the kitchen.

“But… I don’t.” He snapped his head up at Tubbo. “I don’t have fucking magic Tubbo!" he screamed. Tubbo took a step back and lowered his head.

“I’m sorry Tommy.”

“I’m gonna go to bed.”

“Okay…”

Tommy grabbed Shroud and walked upstairs, before turning to Tubbo, “It’s okay Tubs. I get it.” and he walked off again. “Magic is scary...”

Tommy felt pains all around his body that night, he couldn’t sleep. But the next morning he awoke with changes that would change everything…

A row of wither roses lined up against a tower.

Chapter Text

Tommy woke up to an itchy feeling all around his body. He groaned as he got up and walked off to the bathroom stumbling through the hallway. As he washed his face he felt little bumps on his head, he looked back at the mirror to see he had long fluffy blond red-spotted cow ears, and two red buds on his forehead.

He rushed to his room, as Tubbo walked out of his.

“Tommy?” Tubbo called. “Are you okay?”

“Yeah!” He yelled from his room, he changed into his long beige cargo pants and a blue cardigan. He wanted to hide his newfound traits, so he grabbed a large green headband and wrapped it around his ears and buds. He looked in the mirror, he looked hidden enough. Shroud woke up and saw Tommy’s new traits and there was a small POOF coming from the bed made for the kid. Shroud looked human, even more so than usual, the boy only had 2 arms now.

Shroud had dark brown skin and dark curly hair, he wore the biggest smile and stimmed his arms up and down.

“DAD!” he signed, “Look!” he repeated. He kept switching between a more human form and a more arachnid form until he began to sway.

“Oh shit… Shroud be careful.” Tommy grabbed Shroud before he fell and placed him in the small bed. “Don’t do that.” Shroud pouted his lips and his eyes began to water.

“But I’m like you…” the kid signed. Tommy’s eyes softened and he smiled, whipping the kid's eyes.

“Yes you are…” he picked the child up and set up some clothes for him. “Do you want to join me for work today?” Setting the child down, Shroud jumped up and down and nodded. “Okay let's get you ready. ” he put Shroud in light blue overalls and a red shirt with white socks and little red sneakers. The two joined Tubbo downstairs as Tubbo made pancakes.

“What the hell?” Tubbo looked at the two.

“He can shapeshift.” Shroud looked at Tommy with big eyes. “...and so can I.” Tubbo darted his eyes toward Tommy as he pulled his headband off revealing his new set of ears.

“What are you?” Tubbo stepped towards Tommy inspecting him, just the night before he learned that Tommy could use plant magic and that he turned into a mouse, but now? He just wanted Tommy to be safe.

“I dunno…” Tommy’s voice grew quiet as he felt his body shrink. Tubbo backed away before taking a deep breath.

“What are you gonna do?” His voice was now calm, his gaze softened and he looked at Tommy, “I can run the shop for a while.” he smiled. And Tommy trusted Tubbo, so he knew the shop would be well taken care of. “I have something you can borrow.”

Tubbo gave Tommy a specific type of shoe that hides his hooves. Tommy had asked about how he got them but Tubbo shook it off, and hiding the features on his head was easy and he continued with the headband. He said a quick goodbye to Tubbo and ventured off into the city.

“Holy shit!” he said aloud. He hadn’t really left the shop for a while, he was self-sustained and he barely watched the news. As he walked further out into the city he looked at the scenery.

He knew the city of Manburg was new, he thought it would be filled with nature and shit like that but no. It was fucking ugly, the buildings looked like shit as they cramped together and the further he got the crowded the city got. He looked down at his phone and looked back up to see an old slightly run-down library.

“Welcome to Kinikos Reads! I’m Karl.” A man popped out of thin air as Tommy walked in. He had wildly curly light brown hair and his eyes were brown with little purple swirls that turned like clocks.

“Hello?” Tommy stepped back. “Do you have books on cow hybrids?”

Karl tilted his head and smiled at Tommy, “I have lots of books on animal hybrids.” He leaned in closer, “I also have books on old magic.” Tommy’s eyes widened and he looked around and then turned to Karl.

“What's wrong with old magic?”

“Nothing really but, people say that people who possessed any type of magic held the ability to change their form.”

“Really?” Karl’s eyes softened, as he nodded.

“I knew someone who could change their form…” he walked to one of the shelves as Tommy followed. “An old friend of mine, my ex-fiance…” he looked sad as the words left his mouth, as he handed Tommy a stack of books. “You can keep these… make sure to keep them hidden.”

“Thank you.” Tommy nodded.

“I you need any help with… y’know. This place is always open.” Tommy's jaw dropped as he looked down at the books finding Karl gone when he looked back up. He put the 6 small books Karl gave him into his satchel.

By the time Tommy got home his feet began to ache, he walked in through the front door and Tubbo greeted him.

“You good boss man?” Tommy nodded as he walked into the back and took the shoes off and put on an apron joining Tubbo.

Fundy came rushing in with a pained expression, “MR.” he huffed. “There's a huge fight down the street.” Tommy quickly turned on the TV to see that there was a villain attack on the bank three buildings down.

“Huge collision and no casualties yet, the number two hero Jeprody and the number four villain Timeskip are at it in the lower districts of Manburg.” the news reporter said with a calm smile.

It struck a nerve in Tommy that people were so calm about the damage done in the lower districts, he might have barely been outside but he in fact knew that the people in his district deserved to feel safe.

“Tommy!” Someone yelled, he snapped out of his daze realizing he was being surrounded by vines, he slowed his breathing and they died dropping to the floor. He looked at Tubbo.

“I need you two to get everyone out… or at least safe.” Tommy brought Shroud down and sat him down next to the counter

“I'll tell crowds to get in.” Tubbo nodded.

“I need to do something…” Tommy looked at Tubbo and handed him a note.

Tubbo felt as if his world froze when he watched the news, he almost forgot what life was like when he did have to worry about leaving the house. Tommy made him feel safe and protected, but if the fight continued he won’t have a place to actually feel at home.

“I need you two to get everyone out… or at least safe.” he heard Tommy say. Tubbo looked at Tommy with admiration, Tommy knew how to keep people safe, and he had a kind heart.

“I'll tell crowds to get in.” Tubbo had said as he rushed to the door, the roads were filled with dangerous debris and if anyone inhaled the air, they could get seriously injured. Tubbo shouted for people to enter the shop as they ran from the fight. Fundy also helped get people in and settled, all forms of people ran in and panicked. When-

“Someone's on the roof!” Tubbo ran to one of the windows to see someone in a mask moving all the debris. “Is that a fucking moobloom!?” someone else shouted. Tubbo watched the ‘hero’ make sure the streets were clean before hopping from building to building to the fight.

“What are they doing!?” a woman yelled. Everyone watched the news and stared in shock.

“A new super has joined in?” the news reporter questioned. The supper was circling around the other supers before Timeskip charged the hero again, but the two were then dragged off by the new hero and the News camera panned and watched as this new super cleaned up the streets.

Tubbo let people leave the building and soon after the new super disappeared.

“Tommy!?” Tubbo called.

“I’m right here!.” Tommy called from upstairs as he rushed down.

“Did you-”

“Yeah, I saw what happened.” Tommy almost looked panicked, he looked over to Shroud and smiled. “Hey bud…” he picked to arachnid up. “Let's make something to eat.”

“Goodnight!” Tubbo yelled.

“Night Tubs!” Tommy set Shroud on their bed before sitting on his own. He brought the books over to his personal rack of books and looked through them. ‘Old Magic & Prophecies’ ‘The Magic of the Arctic’ ‘Hybrids Guide to Secrecy’ ‘History of the Three Kings’ ‘Hybrids’ ‘Tales of Heros and Old’.

The Titles seemed strange, funny even. The author of the books read T.K.I. Tommy sighed and turned off the lights. He'll read them later.

The next morning went smoothly, Fundy came in early to learn how to bake.

The door rang as someone entered. An older lady walked over to his produce section and looked through selections before grabbing a plastic bag and slowly putting an assortment of produce in it. She walked over to the counter and smiled.

“Hello Ma’am!” he smiled and she smiled back. She handed him the bag of greens and waited as Tommy weighed them. “That’ll be 13.29.” the woman gave him a 20 and took her bag leaving Tommy with the rest as a tip.

Techno had walked into the shop looking eager. “Do you have carrot cake?” His eyes lit with excitement, before eyeing something. “What’s that doing there?” Tommy turned to see a small patch of lily of the valleys in one of his potted plants.

“Holy Shit…” Tommy rolled his eyes and grabbed a pair of gardening gloves. “As much as I love plant life.” He said almost talking to the plant. “I do not need you here right now.” He said as he pouted his lips taking the plant out of the pot and taking it outside to the back of his house near a small plot of trees.

A dark figure watched as a young boy planted a flower in the ground. The man schemed and watched.

“I’ve finally found you, [Redacted]…” his laughs riddled the air.

Chapter Text

Tommy started slowly practicing his newfound abilities, he had found a small clearing and began to build up the wildlife. He started with small patches of grass and then an assortment of flowers.

“Almost,” he said as he slowly grew a tree from the ground. “Come on…” SNAP

Tommy shot up off the ground and ran into a patch of tall grass.

He watched as a giant woman appeared from the sky, she wore a long dark-purple dress and a hat with a long veil draped over her face.

“Oh where might he be…” she said as she placed her hands on her hips and she looked around. Tommy felt himself shrink and watched as the woman looked over the field of green to the tree Tommy attempted to grow. “Oh my…”

“Death!” a voice called. An avian flew into the clearing as he stood before her. “Sorry, I’m late my love.” Tommy couldn’t get a clear view of the avian’s face, only seeing he had blonde hair and large black crow wings.

Tommy looked closer at the man and saw he wore a light green robe and a green and white striped bucket hat.

“Oh shit…” he whispered to himself, the avian was Monarch!

She pulled her veil off and smiled, she whispered into the avian's ear. The woman's face was beautiful as she looked at the man.

“What!?” he took a huge step back.

“Yes, we have a new one.” she looked around, spotting the tall grass. A large set of black stary wings popped out of her back as she flew towards Tommy.

“Hm?” She looked over the grass. “I thought I saw someone.”

“Death-”

“Phil…” she said in a stern tone. “You know you can call me by my name.” Tommy held his head low and covered his ears. He didn’t want to know.

“Kristin,” he said lovingly. “Let's go home.”

“Yes! Work has been biting me in the butt lately,” she sighed. “We have someone working the Death-k.” she giggled as she shrunk to ‘Phils’ height. “So I get time off.”

After the two left Tommy let out a huge breath, and he ran to the shop. When he arrived Techno was sitting on one of the bean bags, crouched over his laptop.

“You good man?” Tommy asked as he walked up to the counter. The shop was quiet, and Tommy liked it.

“Yeah… I’m getting something ready.” Tommy tilted his head, “My mom is off work for a while.” Tommy froze, he decided to start cooking earlier than expected, just to get his mind off things.

“That's good…?” Techno closed his laptop and walked over to the counter. Tommy handed Techno a slice of carrot cake as he was handed a dollar.

“Have a nice day child,” he yelled as he grabbed his computer and left.

Tommy closed a bit earlier than he wanted, Tubbo went to bed early, and eventually so did Tommy and Shroud after eating.

Tommy had woken up in the middle of the night to a cold sweat, he felt hot and rushed to the bathroom throwing water on his face. He sat on the bathroom floor before small pains grew in his back, not even a minute later he was in excruciating pain, his back felt like it was on fire.

He felt as though something was ripping through his spine, he didn't have the strength to get back up so he sat there, contemplating his existence, was he dying? Or maybe it's all a bad dream.

After what felt like hours later there was a small knock on the bathroom door.

“Tommy, are you okay?” Tubbo knocked again.

“No…”

“Can I come in?”

Tubbo felt himself become beyond worried for Tommy, the hybrid was going through new changes in his body and Tubbo couldn’t do anything to help.

“Please,” Tommy said quietly. Tubbo walked in to see that Tommy now had a small set of ivory wings and small pools of blood surrounded him. Tommy’s ears were also smaller wings but they looked fine, Tommy’s back was bloodied, and Tommy’s buds now looked like horns.

Tubbo was so confused. “I need help.” the boy said as his voice wavered. Tubbo snapped back to reality and felt some sort of panic rise in his chest. He felt Tommy’s eyes stare daggers at him.

“I won’t do anything that makes you uncomfortable, Toms.” Tommy nodded and turned his back towards Tubbo. “How long?”

“I think an hour,” Tommy looked tired, his eyes were deep-set and sunken in, “I felt a sharp pain in my back, and next thing you know blood starts dripping.”

“How bad do the wings hurt, Tommy?” Tommy could only let out a pained wince as Tubbo cleaned up the blood from Tommy’s back. He held his head in his knees and the small set of wings continuously began to stretch outwards. “How did this happen?”

“I think it was when I saw the two avians in the clearing.” Tubbo’s eyes widened. “Is this a shapeshifter thing?” he hushed. “I was out in the clearing behind the house when a strange tall lady appeared.”

“Is that it?” Tubbo needed more information, so he pushed. “Can you tell me more?”

“Alright,” Tommy winced again, “Another avian appeared and the lady was called ‘Death’, she and the other avian are married or something.” Tommy’s little head wigs began to flap, “they said something about “there being another one”? I wasn’t really sure but that's it.”

“Wow, you think that's how you got your wings?” Tommy hummed in response.

“I’m so tired.” Tommy began to sway as Tubbo handed the boy a bottle of water.

“Just a little longer…” The blood on the floor cleaned really quickly and once Tubbo was done he helped Tommy to his room. Tommy flopped onto his stomach and laid down as his wings relaxed into his back. Tommy dragged Tubbo along with him and he let out a sigh. “Just to make sure you’re okay Toms.” Tommy hummed in response as he drifted to sleep.

The next morning Tubbo told Tommy to rest, he made both Tommy and Shroud sit up in their loft and eat soup since the little arachnid was coming up with a cold. Both Fundy and Tubbo ran the shop for that week, and the two had a blast. Tommy was right about Fundy being a good kid, and Tubbo was happy he had a healthy environment…

Tubbo really liked working at the little shop, and he was grateful for Tommy. He had finally found a place to call home and he never wanted to leave. It's not like Tommy would make him, Tommy was loud and outgoing, but wasn’t too loud with anyone besides Tubbo and Shroud. He was just as outgoing with Fundy but lowered his tone with the boy.

Tubbo hadn’t realized that a month had gone by that he lived with Tommy, and without really feeling unsafe, and since that moobloom ‘hero’ showed up and disappeared. Tommy had been gaining more control of his abilities and often info dumped on Tubbo, who enjoyed it. Tubbo had also come to realize that Techno and Wilbur had come around a lot more often with 2 other people, a taller woman with silky black hair and piercing brown eyes, and a man who had shoulder-length blonde hair and blue eyes, like Tommy but wore bucket hats too often.

Whenever the couple walked in Tommy stood back and watched them, eyeing them from afar. Tubbo felt the couple watching him and Tommy. The two were sweet, don’t get Tubbo wrong but the two just appeared out of nowhere once Tommy got his wings, but Tubbo reluctantly shrugged it off.

    It's nothing to worry about…

“Shit shit!” they ran, puddles of rainwater splashed under their feet. “Get away!” they screamed, again running out of an alleyway leading to a street full of shops. They finally eyed a large blue building and ran as footsteps followed behind them. “NO.” their leg was pulled and they were slowly dragged back into the alleyway as a row of lilies trailed behind them. “NO!” the screams echoed as they finally were pulled into a pitch-black abyss being consumed by a mysterious red vine.

“D̴͔͚̦͓̂̿̅̾̑̍͘͠ř̷͉͚͍̗͚̉́̃̂͌e̶̻̤̓ͅã̵̹̳̠̈́̈̒̎̄m̵̨̡̛̜̥̱̞̊͒̓͐̋͊͠” they sighed as he opened the door to his coworker holding up a clipboard. “The board wants to talk to you.”

“About what this time Lazarbeam?” Lazerbeam made a concerned face and he furrowed his brows. “Lazer?”

    “We found the kid…”

Chapter Text

Techno found himself wandering around the house a lot. His house, a large thing it was, he lived with his father and twin brother. Things had been quiet at the least, and he hated it. He was left alone with his ‘voices’ or chat as he liked to call them.

He originally went towards district 10 to see the wildlife but came across a well-kept cafe. He heard threats from a man and almost barged in to “save the day” but a tall blonde boy dragged the man by his hair.

BLOOD

CHILD

E

WOW

Techno winced, a lot of repeated things about the child sounding, and looking familiar. He ignored them.

“Fuck off!” the boy threw the man out, “If you want shit don’t threaten me.” He huffed, there were visible puffs of smoke that escaped him. “I’m not dealing with any more BULLSHIT today!” the blonde's eyes flashed red as he stormed back into the shop.

Techno ignored the whole ordeal, in awe when he looked at the building, a two-story building that had been made into a beautiful hotspot.

“How come I’ve never heard of this place?” he asked himself, the shop was called ‘Innit’s Goods & Produce’. Tencho’s phone chimed as he checked it and sighed.

He walked past the building, before walking to the clearing of dry grass and little to no trees.

“What do you want, Wilbur?” he huffed. “You could've told me at home. . .”

“Well you see Techno.” he sighed as he clasped his hands together, “I need help. . . with Fundy.” Techno rolled his eyes and turned away.

“I’m telling Phil,” he said as he bit back a smile. Wilbur froze as Techno walked back onto the sidewalk.

“Please, the kid won’t talk to me!”

“Not my problem…”

“I’ll treat you to coffee!” he pleaded, “Just don’t tell dad.” Techno sighed but he obliged.

“Never again.” He pouted as he stormed out of the coffee shop.

“Oh come on it wasn’t that bad?” Techno just glared at Wilbur before storming down the sidewalk.

“You have bad taste in coffee.”

“Or it’s just this place.”

“Any place in Manburg sucks Wil.” he huffed.

“Why won’t fundy talk to you?” Techno asked.

“Sally won’t let him.” Techno stayed quiet, thinking about his twin and his estranged relationship with his son.

“Talk to her. Make a compromise.” Techno’s head began to ache as he felt his tusks begin to form. Wilbur looked at him.

“Let’s go home.”

The two rushed home before Techno ultimately plummeted on the couch after he took his shoes off.

“Was it that bad?” A voice called, it was Phil. Techno and Wilbur's dad. He had taken the two in long ago as both he and Wil are grateful for.

“Bad coffee.” Techno stuck his tongue out as the taste still lingered.

“I know a place with good coffee.” he smiled. “It's in Logstedshire.” Wilbur walked into the room in utter confusion.

“What the fuck is a Logstedshire?” Phil sighed as he slumped.

“It's what the people of District 10 call it.” He smiled.

Techno held his head low as he got up from the couch, “I need actual coffee…” he walked up to the kitchen island before letting out a huff.

“The owner makes good stuff.” Phil smiled, the man's blonde hair was pulled back into a small bun and his large black wings took up the space in the kitchen.

“Why don’t we check this coffee shop out soon.” Techno sighed, and he pulled out his phone. Nothing. No news. He’s bored.

“Sure!” Wilbur perked up.

That morning Wilbur was radiating with excitement.

“Are you sure you even need coffee?” Techno raised an eyebrow when they drove into District 10- Logstedshire. Wil drove them to the shop, once the two got out of the car Wilbur locked the car and began to sprint into the shop. Techno spaced out before running after him.

Wilbur had gotten there way before him, he could see the sucker walk up to the cashier, a ram hybrid.

He ‘barged’ in and ran up to Wil.

“Wilbur… You are not ordering my drink.” He gasped for air, Techno hated running, and chasing after Wilbur was enough exercise for him. “Not after last time…”

“Techno come on, it wasn't THAT bad.” Wilbur gave Techno a cheeky smile and then turned to the cashier. “I’d like a light roast coffee with 3 shots of espresso.” Techno stood straight and walked up to the counter.

“Can I get a black coffee with light cream?” the ram kid nodded and turned to the cash register.

“That’s gonna be… $7.50.” Wilbur paid and tipped then waited over by a bean bag. Techno rolled his eyes as he then eyed a slice of carrot cake.

“Hey!” he called, walking up to another worker, the blonde boy. Techno took a closer look at the boy, he had bright blue eyes, “Do you think I can grab a slice of your carrot cake?” Techno had noticed a small white streak in the blondes hair, he opened his mouth to say something but-

“Yeah sure.” Techno snapped his attention towards the cake and lit up with excitement. “That’ll be a dollar.” Techno eagerly pulled out a dollar from his wallet and handed it to the blonde. Once he got the cake, he waddled over to Wilbur who laughed at him.

Techno looked around at the shop, it was cute and neat. There was a pen for animals, two cows, and a couple of chickens. There was a produce section and a garden area. Techno still questioned how he didn’t know this place existed. He turned to Wil who was taking pictures of Techno spacing out.

“Oh screw off Wil.” he sat down and ate as Wilbur watched the two workers.

“I like this place!” Wilbur exclaimed, Techno won’t lie when chat all collectively agree that they would come to the little shop weekly if they could.

He and Wil had been called in by the healing hero ‘Ponk', she said a kid was going through a ‘hybrid frenzy’, he and Wil got into their hero get-ups as Atlas and Jeopardy. When they entered the room, a small teen had threatened him, he looked young. The kid wore a large beanie and had a small child at his hip.

He and the kid just stared at each other before Ponk yelled at them, when she turned to a box, a piece of high tech that stuns hybrids going into a frenzy, but it was empty.

“Can I go now…?” the boy said as he looked to the ground, “I need to get home and take care of my kid…” the boy stared at Techno.

“No.” Ponk looked at the boy. “What do you know about this kid?” They said as he loomed over the boy.

“I-I don’t know anything! He just works with me!”

“What’s his name?” Ponk interrogated.

“Simon… his name is Simon.”

She looked at him and nodded. “You can go…” The boy rushed out. Ponk rolled her eyes and sighed. “I need you two to do something for me. . .”

Ponk made the two patrol around Logstedshire, just to make sure nothing suspicious was happening. And the funny thing Techno learned was not to leave Wilbur alone again. Techno had just wanted to go home early and relax, but no, he turned on the TV to see.

“News around that a huge collision and no casualties yet, the number two hero Jeprody and the number four villain Timeskip are at it in the lower districts of Manburg.” Techno felt his eye twitch.

OOOOOOOH Wil

Dadza won’t be happy

E

BEAT HIS ASS

Techno rubbed his temple and sighed.

“A new super has joined in?” the news reporter jumped at the sight.

Techno’s jaw dropped. He was just so ready to kill Wilbur, he watched as TWO of the more famous supers were being dragged off by some teenager in a clown costume.

He sat and waited for Wilbur to get home and scolded him.

“How did you get your rear end handed to you by a child.”

Wilbur just looked to the floor and slowly walked off to his room.

HA fucking loser

L

L

Sadbur

Philza had just walked in with Kristin as she spewed on about how she felt the presence of her third child.

“I felt him. My boy.” she smiled.

It’s not that Techno felt jealous it's that… yeah no he was jealous. This new kid definitely was special if he came out this late. So instead of facing his so obvious problem.

He left.

He walked over to the cafe, he ordered his usual and sat down. The owner wasn’t there.

The blonde barged in a few minutes after techno came in and the two made a short conversation before the kid went back to work.

There was no sight of the new super kid and Techno felt a little uneasy.

Until something happened in Logstedshire. Techno rushed to the scene, but the new super popped out. There was a robbery in another section of the lower district. The little moobloom had fought their way through a handful of people. Every one of the robbers came out bloodied and battered as the kid came out with a young boy and an older lady.

Something about the kid reminded him of someone he once knew and he didn’t like it.

Static , I need you to patrol the lower districts.” an older man told, he wore white goggles with a mushroom hat, a blue supreme shirt, and black plants.

“What! Why?” Static whined. “Why can’t Hydro do it?” the older man visibly sighed. Static was not a well known hero, but he was there. The abnormally tall half-enderman kid. The only kid… IN the tower

He never really looked or felt like he belonged, anywhere. The kids’ hero suit was a nice red tailored suit, with light green embroidered eyes.

They felt. . . tired, but he has a job to do.

“That new vigilante is a problem,” he pulled his goggles off as he kneaded the bridge of his nose. “we have no idea what they’re capable of.”

“Bu-”

“No buts” he walked off to a table, pulling out a file. “ Dream asked me to tell you to do it.” He handed the file to the other hero.

“What is this?”

“What little info we have on the mooshroom.” the older hero walked to the elevator, “learn what you can, study this guy and one last thing, don’t get caught.”

“I got this!” Can it be that hard?

* * *

He groaned in exhaustion, “There’s nothing on this guy.” he sat back and tapped his finger to his chin. “Not who they are, or might be.” they’re a ghost

Static roamed the halls of the Tower before he spotted the hero Atlas .

“Atlas!” he waved as they jogged over to the piglin hero.

“Hey kid, you need something?”

“Yes, actually.” he looked around. “I need you to look for someone for me.”

“Who?”

* * *

Atlas’s jaw dropped. The vigilante was never active, but the fact that this kid, a child, who did barely anything, was a near wanted criminal.

Atlas had gone through facial recognition screenings to find them and god it was hard. It was only recently that this kid had left their house.

“Did you find anything?” Static walked into the room to see Atlas groaning as he clicked around the computer.

“I need you to do something.” he got up from his seat, walking over to Static.

“What?” they tilted their head.

“Just watch the kid.” Atlas dragged his hand down his face.

“They’re a KID?” their eyes grew wide as they threw their hands to their head cupping the back of their neck

SHHH ” Atlas shook his hands and he rushed to close the door, “WE are not going to tell anyone.” He stood up straight, pulled his hair back and sighed. “Got it” Static nodded.

* * *

Static looked into the file that Atlas gave him, the kids name was ----, she was born and raised in the town L’manburg. Before it was burnt down. But the file showed that she completely went off grid.

Static walked into the shop she supposedly owned. He walked in to see three people behind the counter. A fox hybrid, a ram hybrid and a blonde.

“Hello!” The ram hybrid greeted. “How can I help you?”

“Can I-” they began to blurt out, I’m under cover! They cleared their throat, “yeah um- can I have some of that lemon cake?”

“Okay . . . That’ll be 2.50.” Static pulled out their wallet.

“Can I also add a hot cocoa?” the boy nodded.

“Yeah!” he rang up the cash register, “That will be 5.00.”

“The cocoa or the total?” he tilted his head as he began to question the prices of this place.

“Oh! No, the total.” the ram boy giggled. “The name on the drink?”

“Oh. . . Ranboo.” he said as he handed the five dollars to the cashier.

“Okay, here’s your cake, and your drink will be out in a bit.”

“Thank you. Um?”

“It’s Tubbo.”

“Ranboob!” he turned to the cash register and the blonde one has a smile plastered on his face as he placed the drink down. Ranboo looked around. He walked up to grab his drink. “Oh here!” the blonde handed Ranboo another slice of the lemon cake.

“Do I pay?”

“Nope, I just need to get rid of this.” he smiled brightly.

“Oh. . thanks?”

“I’m Tommy Innit!” he said proudly.

“You’re the owner?”

“Yep!” he puffed up his chest. “Well enjoy your day Ranboo…b”

Ranboo rolled his eyes as he went to a little spot by the corner of the store, his annoyance had turned into dread. Whoever was in the file was dead. How did they trace that girl to Tommy? They look nothing alike.

Ranboo decided he needed to keep a close eye on the kid. So am I but that’s different. I had a choice, he probably needed to do it to save someone. Ranboo’s head spun, till they heard the doors ring.

“Hey Techno.”

“Hullo.”

“Your usual?”

“No. . . I’m gonna try something different.” Ranboo looked at this ‘Techno’ man. Nothing really that strange but he felt familiar. The man had pink hair, like a piglin but he had a clear set of brown roots.

They looked back at Tommy and noticed that the white streak in his hair was more pink.

Ranboo shook his head and focused on the file. I’m going on patrol, but I'm destroying this. He cleaned up his area and walked out the shop.

* * *

Static perched on a building in front of the shop ---- owned.

They continued to read through the file.

---- has a record of running away from foster families. Even though ---- is usually a troubled child.

Entered the foster system at the age of 8.

Has been put into many foster homes, the longest stay was 2 1/2 years with the Wastson family.

Static studied the folder, he looked at any small detail he could. His head began to spin.

“Oh, watcha doin’?” a blonde masked boy popped up from his side, Static fell back as the file slipped from his hands.

“AH!” they screamed as the blonde shot up from his sitting position leaning away from Static.

“Woah, woah, woah, I’m not the bad guy.” the boy said as a small pair of ivory wings puffed up from the sides of his head and his back.

“Yeah okay.” Static looked the boy up and down to see sharp black Talons instead of feet.

“What's in the file?” the avian said as he picked up the file.

“Nothing. . .”

“Okay!” he handed the file to the enderian.

“Are you spying on someone?” The avian made a scrunched up face as he looked around.

“What’s your name?”

“Ooh. Hadn’t thought of that yet.” he walked to the building edge, sat down and let his legs hang off.

“Then why are you out?” he felt rude saying it, but he needed to know.

“Well, some… people in the tower are worried I might do something.” he pouted. “So I’m going to their right hand man.” he said as he let stray cat plop onto his lap.

“For what?”

“To tell them to back off.” his wings puffed up as a visible puff of smoke escaped his mouth. “I don’t want any trouble, I was just protecting people. Is that so wrong?”

“Who was the right hand man?”

“You.”
“Nah, they gave me a case just to get rid of me.”

“Really?” the boy sounded almost sincere, “do you need a place to stay?” He's too kind. . . Static shifted uncomfortably once the question left the avian’s mouth.

“Hey! Let me go!” someone screamed, the avian’s head snapped towards the sound. The avian's eyes burned a deep red as he set the cat down and shot up into the sky.

The vigilante’s breath hitched as they faced the sound. Static teleported to the avian.

A kid? A little piglin hybrid was being dragged by a large man and the kid was shaking.

The man saw both of the supers charging him and threw the kid into a van, locking in and pulled out a gun.

Static began to rapidly teleport around the man as the avian dove for him. Once he got closer he let his Talons open and aimed them for the man. His Talons dug into the man's shoulders as he pinned him to the ground.

The avian’s eyes still burned red as he let his Talons continue to dig into the man.

“Hey STOP.” Static yelled. “It’s not worth it!” the avian darted his eyes towards the enderian. He felt the avain’s breath again hitch as the realization came to him.

He let go of the man and ran, the boy left looking human. Static looked to the sky, he pulled out his com and called in.

“Monarch. . . we’ve got a problem.”

“What is it?” The man was concerned.

“Trafficking. . .” Static pulled the key from the now unconscious culprit and unlocked the van. There was just the one, wonder why it was just him?

Monarch rushed his way over to the enderian. The hero holding a small piglin child.

The avian saw the kid and his eyes widened. “You two need to get out of here.”

“Wait what?” Static stepped back as he cradled the kid.

“There’s a reason there was only one. Find a place to hide.”

“Ranboo. . .” Not everyone knew each other's identities, even if they were heroes. Ranboo knew no one.

“How?”

“Just please. . . find a place.” Monarch pushed Ranboo away from the scene.

The piglin dug his head into Ranboo’s chest as they walked through the empty town. They wandered aimlessly under the stary night sky.

“Where am I supposed to go?” the little piglet snorted. “I mean we.” Ranboo needed to leave, and he didn’t know where to go. . .

The front door opened, “oh hey kid, need something?” tall suited figure asked.

“I need a place to stay.”

“What about the tower?” the figure questioned.

“Well. . . I found something out and now I think I’m a target?” Ranboo breathed. “Can you help me.”

“Sure come in.” the figure frowned.

“Thanks Schlatt.” the ram hybrid closed the door behind him.

“Tubbo?” Tommy waited outside the bathroom door, “I’ll be here if you need anything.”

The water ran as Tommy sat down by the door.

“Tommy?” Tubbo’s voice was quiet.

“Yes.” Tommy almost shot up off the ground.

“Somthing’s wrong”

“What is?” Tubbo opened the door for Tommy, his hands bloodied.

“My horns” Tommy’s eyes grew wide, blood dripped down Tubbos’ head.

Chapter Text

Tommy forgot how much he hated the sight of blood, how much it lingers. . .

The first time Tommy really saw blood, and not the kind from accidentally scraping your knee or getting in a fight. No, it was the kind of blood that pours, that drains, the kind that floods. He and his parents lived in an old apartment, but it was home and they were happy. His family was modest, they lived small to save money for something big. When he was younger, he never looked the way he wanted, he had long brown hair, and wore more feminine clothing. He knew from an early age that he hated the way he looked.

But he wanted to please his parents, even from a young age. He and his parents were close when he was younger, they talked to him, they listened. . .but only about school, they didn’t care much about what he wanted.

One time he wanted to cut his hair short, but his mother wined,

“What about what I want, you’ll look like a little boy!” So he never asked after that.

He and his mother would relax on their little couch and watch a load of old movies when he had come home from school and his mother from work, she would cook a meal for the both of them, since his father was usually out on trips.

The second he got older, everything changed. He was a troubled child, he had a nasty attitude and got into plenty of arguments with the teacher, and his mother scolded him a ton.

“Why would you do that?” she’d ask. But he never responded, he never did.

“You stupid girl.” Not even when he came home with bruises or when he came home with a black eye. She eventually had gotten too busy with work to actually check in on him.

He loved his mother but she was never there.

His father on the other hand was worse, he never even bothered to greet him in the morning. Just left for work, he’d yell and hit. He learned to accept it. He didn’t get to know his parents. So he lashed out, he cried, and pleaded, just for any kind of attention. But it never came. So he ran away, he fucking ran and didn’t stop. He ended up in a town called E’sempe, a loud place it was. The kid stayed near a bench.

“Hey! This is my seat.” a little blonde ram hybrid yelled. He ran, startled by the boy.

He stayed under a bridge.

No one came after him. . .

He stayed away from home for a couple of days before realizing, his parents probably didn’t notice.

“Mum?” he called as he entered the house. No answer. “Mom!” again, no answer. He walked over to her room.

It was dark. . .

He remembered it being dark when he first saw the pool of dark liquid.

“Mom!” he cried. He didn’t dare go to find what was waiting for him. He pulled up the house phone and dialed 911. He cried to a man on the other line, an older man who consoled him as the police and the ambulance rushed their way over.

“Hey, hey -----” he hushed, “The police will be there in a couple of minutes.”

“That's not my name. . .” He mumbled.

“But you told me-” the man on the line sounded genuinely concerned.

“It’s what my family calls me.” he pouted.

“Then what’s your name?” the man asked

“I haven’t found one…” He let himself fall to the ground.

“Do you want help?” the man would do anything to distract the kid until authorities arrived. The boy hummed in response. They went through a list of boy names before one caught the kids' attention.

“Oh, I like Tommy!”

“Then so it is, Tommy!” the man on the other side let himself quiet down. “Hello Tommy, I’m Schlatt.” When the authorities arrived Tommy hung up, one of the police officers guided Tommy out of the apartment as they boarded it up with police tape.

“-ommy” a faint voice called. “Tommy!” Tubbo. Tommy widened his eyes as he stared at Tubbo.

“Tubbo!” he rushed towards him. “Are you okay?!”

“I’m fine!” he pressed, as he continued to bleed. Tommy shook his head.

“No, no you’re not.” he breathed. “You’re bleeding!”

“Oh. . . yeah. Sorry, I always freak out when this happens.”

“W- what!?”

“I shape my horns yearly and sometimes I cut too far. . .” he wiped the blood from his head and walked over to the bathroom. “This was one of those times.”

“That's good,” he sighed, “We need a break. You need it.” He placed his hands on Tubbos’ shoulders.

The next morning Ranboo woke up to the little piglin curled up by him, the older ram hybrid knocked on the door.

“I made breakfast. Eat when you want."

Ranboo and the kid walked downstairs to a plate of waffles and pancakes, the piglin boy squealed in excitement as he ran to the table. The man laughed as he moved out of the way.

“Soo. . . Ranboo, what’s that?” JSchlatt, a taller ram hybrid asked. He wore a black suit, and a red tie.

“It was a file on someone, she’s apparently a big deal.”

“Really?” he laughed as he fixed his tie.

“What’s her name?”

“---- Innes. Some girl that had been in the foster care system that was born in L’manburg." Schlatt got an odd feeling from the name. He let his mind blank, letting his thoughts drift, Innes, Innes, Innit? Schlatt snapped his attention back to Ranboo.

“-in a building that isn’t even owned by her.” Ranboo groaned.

“Let me see,” Schlatt holds the file, “This is really fucking light.” he read through it.

The kid's mother died, with a stab wound through the neck. Father went missing and was found eight days later dead in a ditch.

Graduated high school early.

There was more but it was all so morbid. Schlatt still couldn't put his finger on it. The kid looks vastly familiar. But he shrugged it off.

“Well, I’m off to work. I’ll be back with some dinner for you and the small one,” he said pointing his head towards the little piglin.

Ranboo nodded as he flipped through the file again. Taking and eating a waffle.

There were once four gods of this world.

Mumza

XD

HD

And The Blood God.

And these gods were known to bless humans with powers. Or they’d reincarnate.

Mumza, the goddess of Death, is a powerful lady. She had a blessed one, ‘the Angel’ who worked like a grim reaper. Little is known about the midnight lady.

XD, the god of life, who often watched over humanity keeping them in check. He likes to bless humans he finds worthy with unimaginable knowledge.

HD, the god of sleep and mind, has never been known to meddle with mankind, often sleeping through trouble. Blessed one human in the course of 1 thousand years.

The Blood God, the god of bloodshed, chaos, and growth. Is the most active with mankind, fighting in wars and killing unfit rulers, and has reincarnated twice in his lifetime, blessed two.

Tommy read through the book, he needed to keep his mind off things, he grabbed one of the other many books Karl had given him. ‘Tales of Heros and Old’ the first entry introduced gods Tommy heard too little about. He’d heard about XD and Mumza but that was it, the other two were mysteries.

Tubbo was doing homework, and while working Tommy made sure he did his work, making him leave work early while still paying him the same. Along with Fundy. Tommy made Tubbo some tea, he had done a ton around their home as they took the week off. Tubbo watched Tommy feed and talk to his many animals, and sing to the plants. He said it helps them grow, Shroud loves it.

“TECHNO!” Wilbur screamed, “Where’s my hair dye?” he said rummaging around the bathroom cabinets. He heard a sigh coming from one of the rooms in the house.

“It’s in the drawer!” Technoblade responded. Sitting on his bed reading a book. Techno often went to an old library that a crazy man owned, he never learned the man's name. He just went there to read and get more books. Techno ventured his way to the little cafe down in Logstedshire

“It’s closed?” he sighed, so he walked behind the building to a nice green clearing. Techno sat down near a large tree and read, for what seemed like hours he read. Looking into the life of the old king the books were written by, some of them were journals, some were things about hybrids that have now gone extinct.

Techno sighed as he read, this old king was known to be a great ruler who forced only his kingdom to flee when a tyrant ruler came to claim his land. He stood his ground-

I never would have imagined that my kingdom would come to face any danger. So with my advisor Toby, we made sure the people of the kingdom got to the safe haven of the Arctic Kingdom that was ruled by none other than my older brother Alex. A strong and mighty king he was but it came a long way. He will protect them.
I know now I might not live through this battle, but with the Blood God by my side. I pray that bloodshed may follow.

Techno sat down and closed the book, slightly amused. He had never gotten all the books from the king, just sparingly. He got up off the ground and walked to Kinokos Reads. He walked into the store and saw the barista from the cafe. The kid was walking around, searching.

“Karl?” he called, the kid roamed as he turned a corner.

“Hello, Tommy! What can I do for you?” the man asked.

Techno listened carefully as the two spoke.

“I wanted to know more about the Blood God?”

“Oh, what about them?”

“Them?”

“Yes, there were multiple, or well he’s shown up in very different centuries.”

“Is the book false?"

“Nope. The Blood God first started out human but later in his life, he was cursed with immortality and bloodlust.” Techno winced, the bloodlust bit seemed harsh. “Though I’ve never really read any of the books.”

Techno winced again, Techno was told when he was young that he was blessed by the Blood God, he asked why but never got a response, he prayed, but no response. Techno lost faith in the gods, as none of them came to help when he hurt the people he loved when he lost control and let the voices take over his mind.
“I had another question?” there was a hum, and Technos’ attention came back to the other two.

“Go ahead Tommy,” Karl said as he restocked some of the books, his short hair pulled back into a little bun.

“Do you know what I am?” a book fell from Karl's hand, and Tommy winced. Karl turned towards Tommy.

“No. . .” Karl sighed, “I wish I did, I really do. . . but I know nothing about you.” He picked up the book off the ground, “The writer of these books was the last blessed of the Blood God.”

Tommy sighed as he pulled off a book from the shelf. “I’m gonna check this out.” Karl nodded and the two walked over to the register. Tommy checked out and walked out of the library.

Techno popped from one section and asked, “Where are the English books?” he smiled. ‘Karl’ seemed surprised that Techno was there, but he just smiled and nodded. Techno walked out of the library more skeptical than when he came in, his head began to race. As Chat began to theorize Tommy’s existence, everything only blurred together.

Tommy was the mooshroom kid.

Chapter Text

Tommy was starting to feel anxious, he wanted answers but now he had more questions. He put on his headphones and gear, then flew from his room into the night sky.

Earlier that week Tommy began to feel weird about everyone around him, something about their auras. He was usually able to sense people's auras pretty faintly, but since then it’s been off the rails.

Monarch came into the shop earlier that week, he was happy as usual. Wilbur also came in, grabbed some coffee and hung out around the cafe section looking at the books.

Techno came in, but he looked sad, his eyes were droopy and he barely smiled. Tommy gave him some extra treats before he left. Ranboo walked in just to say hi, though he brought in a kid who looked to be around Shrouds age. The kid was marveled about everything in the shop.

Everyone's auras felt sad, even though they seemed happy, but Tubbos and Shrouds stayed the same, they were always in a good mood. Tommy was happy and the rest of the week went smoothly.

He walked around the rooftops thinking.

He still needed a name for himself, something powerful or at least something that would stand out, he hopped from roof to roof and finally settled on a large old warehouse, he sat on the roof top and watched from above.

He pulled out his phone and scrolled through the net, looking for anything to do. He wanted to call or at least get in contact with Static. He hadn't heard from the hero in a week, there were small clips of Monarch talking to Static before he disappeared.

He was also worried about the kid, the little piglin. Tommy was so close to storming the Tower to demand answers, he stood up and once again quietly moved from rooftop to rooftop.

There was a loud crash coming from an alleyway near him, he quietly shifted towards the sound. Tommy settled into the shadows and watched as the hero Atlas groaned as he clutched onto his side.

“You have info I want.” There was a man standing over Atlas. He wore a fancy suit, and a red beanie. “And I have info you need. . . So. . .you willing to tell me what I want to know?” the smaller one pulled a chunk of Atlass hair and pulled his face towards him. “You understand me . . .Techno”

“I already know who he is, where he lives and everyone who lives there.” Tommy froze, was he talking about him? The bakery? Tubbo? Shroud? But now he knows who ratted him out, Techno. Tommy felt his jaw ache, his hands began to sore but he couldn't see himself. Tommy stayed in the shadows letting his anger rise.

“Then what do I have to offer?” the man asked himself, “How is he?” the smaller cracked his knuckles, he waited for the response.

Techno’s hands glew a bright red to his side, and he stood up to face the other. “He’s doing fine.” Techno towered over the other. “Still as crazy as ever, but hasn’t gotten into trouble.”

“Techno. . . where’s the kid?” His eyes burned a dark olive.

“I can’t tell you.” Techno stepped back, he turned from the villain.

“Why not.” his fists clenched, and something in the air felt thin. Tommy felt his body shake.

“It’s not my business.”

“Well it is now.” There was a long pause, then a deep sigh. “there's a reason there are no vigilanties.”

“I know-” Techno began to protest.

“Then get rid of him!” he yelled. His voice echoed, Tommy flinched.

“I can’t, you know that Riot.” Technos voice became warry.

“Fine.” Riot turned and walked away, leaving the alleyway. “I’ll do it myself!”

Tommy just watched the piglin, Techno fell to the floor as he pulled off his mask. Tommy watched his body quake, his hair fell even more in his face.

“What's the point in being a hero if you can’t save one person?” he yelled as his voice began to waver, he slowly stood up from the ground and limped out of the alleyway. Tommy quickly fled from the shadows and followed the hero.

He walked along the rooftops and watched from above, following him for a long while heading up to the Manburg area. Tommy instantly stopped, a feeling of dread overcame him and he ran from the city back to his home.

His phone began to ring, he quickly answered.

“Tommy-”

“Tubbo!” Tommy yelled as he pulled his mask off.

“Where are you?” Tubbo asked.

“Just taking a stroll” Tommy took in a deep breath of air. “It’s really calming.”

“Well hurry back home and hide your shit.”

“Wha-”

“Bye!”

Tommy pulled off his hoodie, tore off his knee pads, and the rest of his gear and ran for home.

He slowly walked into the building, “Tubbo! I’m home!” he announced, and there was a strange man sitting at one of the tables.

“I'm sorry sir, but we’re closed.” Tommy had an off feeling about the man, but smiled.

“Yeah, well Tubbo let me in.” The man had large ram horns, mutton chops, and a black suit.

“Oh did he?” Tommy questioned Tubbos' intuition, the man's aura felt tainted, bitter. Did he not feel it? Tubbo walked into the room with a plate of cookies. The Ram looked at him and smiled.

“Oh Tommy!” the man snapped his head towards Tommy in confusion. “This is Schlatt. . . .”

“How do you know him?” Tommy pulled back, the name was familiar, the name was comforting, but the face was wrong and twisted. Schlatt looked tired, large bags under his eyes and his eyes felt sad.

“Well. . . um, he’s my-” Tommy’s eyes widened as he remembered who the man was.

“JSchlatt is your dad!?” Tommy pulled out a knife, this man was known to create chaos, and Tommy didn’t trust him. “Why are you here?”

“I need your help!” Tommy narrowed his eyes, watching the man.

“What makes you think I can do that?” Tommy tried to play coy, letting his face fall, he let his eyes widen and droop.

“I know who you are.” Tomy made his body shake, shaking his head.

“And who’s that?” he cried.

“The Jack of trades!” Tommy dropped his knife.

“The what?” his voice cracked.

“You know, Jack of all Trades?” Schlatt was falling for his act, he looked confused.

“The fuck?” Tommy felt the anger popping out his voice.

“You’re the shapeshifter.” Tommy looked at Tubbo, his head bowed down. “I’ve seen you do it.”

Tommy stepped back, “I run a bakery, that's it.”

“No. . .Tommy-” Schlatt stood up.

“Don’t-” Tommy hushed. He realized Shroud was still upstairs sleeping.

“You have to!” The man yelled.

“I don’t have to do shit!” he signed, Schlatt gave him a confused look.

“I know what you can do! Who you are!” Schlatt pleaded.

“No. You. Don’t.” Tommy stormed off, he walked up to the room to see Shroud sitting in the middle of the room as tears streamed down his face.

Tommy rushed to the kid, he asked him if he was hurt, if anything was wrong. But the boy’s body shook, it shook violently, Tommy called Tubbo to the room and Schlatt followed along. He pulled the books off the shelves to look for anything, but his mind fell blank everyone's auras were loud and overwhelming. He counted five auras . . . there were only four of them in the room.

There was a loud crash in the window, Tommy shielded Shroud from the glass as glass dug into his skin. There were screams, yelling, Tommy cradled Shroud as felt his vision begin to fade.

“-mmy!” he heard faintly. He felt tired, he wanted to sleep. Sleep sounded nice, Tommy let his eyes close and everything around him stopped. . .

“I don’t wanna go!” the boy cried. “I want to stay!” The lady had pulled his arm and dragged the boy into a car.

“They don’t want you!” she yelled at him. “You’re just a problem child!” her face grew red. “What makes you think anyone would like to adopt you!” The boy stood there stunned and so did she. He wanted to cry, to scream even more, but . . . he couldn’t. He let his head bow and followed the woman into the car.

“----- do you have all your things?” he wanted to say no, he had left his favorite music disk in the house. Something his mother gave him, but he knew better than to say anything while his social worker was upset.

“My name is Tommy. . .” he looked outside the window as he watched the families play.

“oh. Sorry Tommy.” a singular tear fell from his face. He hated himself, maybe if he was quiet people would want him, if he listened, if he followed along, maybe just maybe he would have a place to call ‘home.’

“Was I good?” he asked the lady, she had given him a weak smile. A pit of dread grew in his stomach, he wasn’t good enough. He was placed with a single woman who took in fosters, she was caring, and patient but could sometimes be very blunt and that got to Tommy.

He hel ped her in her garden, a self sustaining woman who worked as a ballet teacher, when she got Tommy she thought he was an eleven year old girl who was into dolls and dancing. When she saw him she asked if he was the right kid, once she was told about him she instantly looked disappointed. Tommy told her he was really into ballet and she decided to work with it, he just wanted to be loved. Tommy took ballet for a couple months before the lady said she couldn’t house him any longer.

Chapter Text

Tommy learned to make himself quiet, when he talked too loud, when he was given dirty looks, even when he saw himself. Tommy never got close to anyone, sometimes even straying far from himself.

“Birdy~” a voice hummed, Tommy felt his vision slowly return to him, but to his surprise he was tied up in a chair. “Don’t bother trying to escape.”

Tommy felt his eyes widen to see a face vastly familiar, a face that taunts his dreams, he shook his head, “but y-you’re dead!”

“All but an illusion.” he laughed, “and you changed my little dewdrop.” Tommy winced at the nickname, the man grabbed a pair of pliers and walked towards Tommy.

“Get the fuck back!” he yelled, the man stared at him wide-eyed.

“You don’t talk to me like that!” he screamed. He stormed up to Tommy and pulled his jaw up. “Don’t. You. Dare. Talk to your father like that.” The man pulled back gently and slowly.

“Fuck y-” Tommy was cut off by a slap to the face, finally he thought. He knew for a fact his father never had a patient mind, the second he felt disrespected he turned to violence, and Tommy was always a victim to his outbursts.

“[Redacted]! Get your ass over here!” her father called, “Did you break this!” he yelled holding a broken picture frame.

“No. . .I was in my room.” she explained.

“Don’t lie to me!” his voice rose.

“I’m not!” she yelled, her father looked at her with wide angry eyes as he stepped forward.

“Why you littl-”

His father walked away to a table of tools and other assortments. “Where is the little girl I used to care for?”

“Care for? You didn’t care for shit!” he snapped, “And that little girl you miss so much is gone.”

Tommy gritted his teeth as the man walked back towards him. “Where are they?”

 “Who?” Tommy snapped.

“The two that live with you?” he answered. “The freak and the spider.” Tommy narrowed his eyes as he looked up to the man. No way in hell would he jeopardize his family.

 “[Redacted] my sweet gir-”

“Fuck you,” Tommy breathed, “Fuck you, fuck you, fuck you. FUCK YOU.” he cursed.

“[Redacted]~” she ran to her father. “Look at this [Redacted]” his smile was warm and safe. “This will be yours one day!”

“[Redacted]!” he yelled, his face contorted. “I need you to listen!”

“Why would I listen to you?” he cocked his head to the side, “You abandoned me when mother died, you FAKED your own death!” Tommy spat in his face. “And my name is Tommy! Not [Redacted]”

“We’re done talking…” he picked up a syringe and flicked the top.

“What?” Tommy strained.

“I’ll come back when you’ve behaved, like a good daughter.” Tommy started frantically trying to get out the chair.

“Wait- No… BACK OFF!” he held Tommy’s neck to the side, sticking the syringe into his neck. “Nonononono,” he cursed as his vision once again grew blank.

I want to go home, I want my mom, I want to see my friends and my kid. I want to go home.

“Tubbo, wake up!” a raspy voice called.

“Schlatt… where are we?” he groaned, he opened his eyes to a bright light.

“My house, but something’s wrong.” Schlatt’s eyes were sad and soft, Tubbo narrowed his eyes.

“What?” he questioned, growing a little less skeptical of his fathers intentions.

“Tommy’s gone.” There was a long pause, a moment of silence as the air thinned for a brief moment.

“What!?” Tubbo frantically moved from the bed.

“Ranboo got everyone but I guess he couldn’t get Tommy.” the name ‘Ranboo’ the new kid. Tommy called him that every time they came in.

 “Fuck, this isn’t good.”

Ranboo walked in the room worried and panicked, he looked vastly different from before, the human boy- or who he thought was a freakishly tall human was in no doubt an enderman. Or at least half of one.

“Is everyone alright?” he asked, Tubbo looked around the room. . .something else was missing.

“Where’s Shroud!?” Tubbo pulled a pocket knife from his shoe.

“Whoah!” Ranboo stepped back as the knife edged close to his neck “He’s playing with Micheal.”

 “Why am I here?”

“To keep you safe.” Tubbo shook his head.

“And what about Tommy huh?” He dug his nails into the skin of his palm. “Was he not worth being saved?” his only safe space was destroyed and his person was gone and he had no idea if he was safe. Tubbo was pissed.

“I tried, I really tried.” Ranboo’s voice cracked, “Please forgive me. . .” Tubbo stepped back shocked.

“I get you did what you could,” Tubbo pulled the knife away and hid it in his boot. “Who took him?” he turned toward Schlatt.

“Riot did, but he works for the number one villain, Agony.” Tubbo didn’t like the meaning behind the name.

“What do you mean he’s gone!?” Techno yelled.

“Well it's like I said. He’s gone!” Wilbur retorted.

“Boys. . .?” but the two continued to argue “Boys.” still to no avail “Boys!” Phil yelled. The two turned their heads towards him. “What happened?”

“Tommy’s shop. . . it was destroyed, the animals were taken to the farm up north but no one knows where Tubbo, Tommy or even Shroud are.” Wilbur told.

 “What about Fundy?” Techno asked.

 “Fundy?” Wilbur panicked, My son.

“Yeah, he works for Tommy.” Phil added. Wilbur fumbled to the phone, he dialed a number and waited.

 “Hello?” a woman's voice answered.

 “Where is Fundy?”

“No hello?” there was a pause. “She wants to talk to you.”

 “‘He’” he corrected.

 “Yeah, yeah, okay. Here hun.”

“Dad?” He answered, “Do you know what happened to Tommy?”

“No, but I just needed to know that you were okay.” he sighed, relieved his boy was okay.

“Please find him dad.” The kid sounded like was going to bawl.

“I will, I promise.” His voice wavered, “I love you.”

“I love you too dad.” the phone line ended.

Tommy slowly opened his eyes, he wanted everything to be a dream, but he was hit with a sharp pain in his neck. He was on a cot, there was a brace on his ankle, and he wanted out. He felt sick, his stomach ached and his back felt bruised.

Tommys ribs ached, he’d worn his binder for longer than eight hours. But he didn't want to feel exposed, there's no other way out of it. He pulled off the binder and took in a deep breath of air, his breath grew shaky. He felt an aura slowly coming towards him. Tubbo? No, the footsteps were heavy and loud as they approached. He quickly put his shirt back on, hiding his binder.

“Are you ready to cooperate?” his father asked as he entered the room, he snapped his head towards the man. Dad?

“I hope you choke.” Tommy barked. He gritted his teeth as he stared at the man.

“Agony!” a man called, “We need you in the office.” Tommy’s eyes widened, his father was a villain, which he wasn’t too surprised about, but he was the most feared one at most. Is this why you hurt me?

“I’ll be there in a little while, I need to teach my daughter a lesson.” Tommy backed away from the man, before he pulled out a remote. He pressed a button and Tommy felt a jolt of excruciating pain go through his body.

He screamed, he fell to the ground in front of his father. Agony pulled his son’s hair and slammed his face into the ground, blood slowly dripped from his mouth. Tommy tried to fight his way from the man's grip.

He kicked and screamed, Agony threw the boy to the floor. Tommy yelped as he felt to the ground.

“This is what happens when you disrespect me.” once again slamming his head against the floor, “Do you understand?!” he yelled as he repeatedly hurt this kid.

“Sir! They need you now!” a masked woman called.

“Alright. I’m done.” he stood up towering over the boy, “stay.”

He walked out of the room, turning off the light. Tommy crawled to his knees and sat there for moments on end before realizing, I’m going to die here. His lip quivered as tears slowly fell from his face, but at least his family was safe. His friend and son were fine.

In a small outbursts of anger Tommy pulled his aching body off the floor and slammed his body against the walls, he screamed at the top of his lungs, he scratched and picked at his skin.

He yelled more, he didn't sleep, and his eyes grew heavy. He let his eyes adjust, it was dark and dingy, he was in a small room with a block for a bed, thin pillow where he hid his binder and thin blankets. It looked like a prison. He could hear drops of water dripping through one of the walls.

 Tommy sat there listening, waiting.

Death felt her heart ache, tears poured down her face. “My… my son.” but she was stuck, it would be months before she could venture off to the mortal realm.

Phil walked into the library, Karl popped up into thin air. “Philza, it’s been a while!” Phil held a mournful look, “Phil?”

“Tommy’s missing.” and for a second, a simple moment the air had escaped the room. Karl’s eyes grew a bright white as his head hung low.

“Who?” his voice echoed through the building, shaking the walls. “Who stole Tommy?!”

“From what we’ve heard Agony did.” Phil felt a lump in his throat, “And...Riot helped him.” Karl took in a deep breath, he walked towards the back of the shop before a gust of wind exploded through the building.

“I’m going to kill him!” Phil was shaken by Karls anger, “That no good, lying son of a bitch!” He then began to pace the room as sparks of electricity jumped off of his body.

“I can’t get my kids involved, so I need your help.”

“I can’t do anything you know that.” Karl looked at the cracks on his hands. “My powers have drawbacks and are not meant to be used for a long time.”

“I just need your stealth,” Phil added, “Anything will do.” Karl nodded, Tommy needed all the help he could get, he was worried what Agony would do to the kid.

“You hungry?” Ranboo asked Tubbo, and he silently nodded, Ranboo held his hand out for Tubbo. He hesitantly took the gesture, and Ranboo guided him to the kitchen.

“What’s all this?” Tubbos voice cracked, it was a ton of different pastries and they were all Tubbos favorites. “How do you know?” he wanted to feel creeped out but something about this screamed Tommy.

“Sometimes when I came to the shop Tommy would talk about pastries, and then he would talk about the ones you liked.” Ranboo quickly added, “Sometimes it would just be me in the cafe in the evenings and Tommy loves to talk.” he smiled weakly.

“Yeah. . . he does.” Tubbo felt his heart ache. Tommy helped him with so much, and in return he helped him, but Tommy was missing.

“Tubbo… I think I know who took Tommy.” Both Tubbo and Ranboo sat down on the counter, eating the sweets.

“Yeah, it was Riot.” Tubbo hissed.

“Yes but no..” Tubbo gave him a look, Who the fuck did it? He gulped down some of the food. “A while ago I was given a file on Tommy, who he was before, and even his parents.” Ranboo refrained from telling Tubbo he was a ‘hero’.

 “Go on.” Tubbos' eyes narrowed.

 “Do you kno-”

“Yes, I know he’s trans.” Tubbo cut him off, “I literally had to pry that damn binder off of him one time. He was going to hurt himself if he wore it any longer.” he gave a sad laugh. “He cried a lot that night, he was in so much pain.”

 “Oh. . .”

“He said he thought if I found out I’d hate him.” Tubbo choked on his words. “It made me think, how many people rejected him for just wanting to be him?”

 “Tubbo-”

“He wore that binder for days before I noticed he was in so much pain.” Tubbo held his hand to his face. They lived together for months, he thought of Tommy as his brother. “Who took him?”

“His father [Redacted] who is the villain Agony.” Tubbo felt sick, he found out what happened to that man’s victims.

He hung over the toilet as he emptied any of the leftover contents from his stomach.

“Tommy?” Tubbo knocked. “You don’t sound so good.”

“I’m all g-” his head hung low in the toilet bowl. Tubbo rushed in to see Tommy curled up struggling to breath.

“Tommy?! Tommy, I'm coming in okay?” he yelled, “Shit” he rushed over to Tommy “how long have you worn that?” Tubbo looked down to see Tommy pulling bits of his chest binder away from himself.

“Just a couple days.” he laughed, clutching his stomach.

“Tommy. . .why?” The boy looked away from his friend, Tubbo ran to Tommys’ room and pulled out a large short-sleeved shirt. “Tommy put this on, and please take the binder off.” Tommy shook his head as he groaned in pain.

“No, I can’t.” he winced as he held his side.

 “Why?”

 “I don’t know…”

“Do you want help taking it off?” Tommy wept as he slumped into Tubbos arms.

 “Please, it hurts.” he winced

“What does?” Tubbo held Tommy’s arm gently,

“Everything.” Tommy didn’t have a good quality binder, it scarred his underarms and put unnecessary strain on his ribs.

Once the binder was off Tommy heaved in a breath of air. Tubbo led Tommy to his room before letting him pass out from exhaustion.

“I'll protect you…” he whispered to Tommy. “I'll keep you safe. I promise”

“No… she's never exhibited any sort of abilities.”

“Then why now?”

The man shook his head, he walked over to a large whiteboard with all sorts of colored strings being pulled in separate directions. “We’ll have to monitor her. Monitor her powers and such,” the man waved off his assistant. “I have some work to do.”

White lilies began to rapidly grow in the cracks of the building, from lilies to lilacs, from lilacs to Lily of the Valleys. A trail of flowers exited a sewer pipe.

Chapter Text

Karl was tired, he’d just finished working out to keep his mind off of the impending conflict with Agony. And he was hungry, so he walked over to the mini-mart by the library and looked around. Karl was wearing a pair of workout shorts, a loose-fitting tank top, and a pair of worn-out sneakers, he was drenched in sweat and his glasses were falling down his nose.

He’d grown anxious, he and Philza had brought up plan after plan to try and fight Agony but he was too powerful, his power was still unknown but there was a reason he was the top villain. He needed to save Tommy, he wanted to hurt Agony to make him pay for what he did to him.

“Noodles…” he told himself, nothing too much. He pushed up his glasses and sighed, “I’ll walk over to the store after.” It was late and he was ready to sleep, he’ll close the library the next day and rest. Karl walked into the store and over to many of the other aisles and contemplated what he should buy. He groaned as there was nothing for him to eat, nothing appealing.

He walked out of the minimart and headed towards the supermarket, he plugged in his headphones and walked. The walk towards the store was longer and his part of town was safer. He entered the store and walked into many of the aisles.

“George please….” an oddly familiar voice pleaded. “It’ll only be a couple hours.” Karl leaned into the aisle, a shorter dark-haired man faced away from him and pleaded for something, as his basket was full of more carnivorous foods. Karl rolled his eyes and began looking for any type of food.

“-AP” the other line yelled, pure anger coming from the phone. The man dropped the phone as he backed away, the man on the other yelled and yelled. Karl grabbed the phone and ended the call. Then the phone began to blow up with piles of messages from ‘George’, Karl placed it in his pocket and walked over to the other man.

The other man repeatedly mumbled things to himself and crouched down to the ground then eventually shutting down, he stared at the ground and didn’t make a sound.

“Hey…” Karl kept some distance from the other, he grabbed his and the other guys’ basket, his hand, walked into a line paid for the stuff, and walked them both to his home.

Karl had lived in an apartment not that far from the library, and the other man was in a daze just walking where Karl walked and did not respond to any of his questions. They reached the top floor, Karl unlocked the door and guided the other man in letting him sit on the couch as he put away his groceries.

“Huh?” the other man finally spoke, “Where am I?” He turned and stared at Karl as he finished putting everything away. Karl walked to him and pulled out the phone from his pocket.

“Some guy named ‘George’ is texting you,” His eyes widened, “I saw some of the messages right after I hung up. . .” The man then just stared at him, his eyes becoming glossy but nothing coming out, he’d gone quiet again.

“You can stay here,” Karl sighed. His mind went blank, “I have some clothes you can borrow.”

Sapnap was not in the right head space, his ex, who was a villain had resurfaced again and he could do nothing about it.

“Sapnap, I don’t need you losing your head out there.” George scolded, “It’s been four years, you should be over him, right?” Sapnap reluctantly nodded, he wanted to go out, George had been making him stay in the tower for months on end for a little mistake.

He’d lost his cool at another hero and started a fight. But being a fire demon it's not really a good look on his part and George wanted him to know that. He’d turn his office into his living space, George monitored him and he couldn’t see anyone. It was an absolute prison.

He’d been in the tower for almost a year and hadn’t seen any missions, but one day George needed him, and he was desperate. One of their apprentices went missing and he wanted Sapnap to look for him, but he was scared he might lose control again so he refused and George seemed happy when he did.

But that night he’d decided to sneak out, he was out of food and George was the one to get him stuff and he wouldn’t be in till morning. Sap rummaged around his desk and found his old ring. . . it was a gift.

Certain types of jewelry had enchantments, they were specifically made for hybrids who wanted to hide what they were. There were three specific ones, the first only hides the bigger parts, like hooved, or pawed hands and feet. The Second hides horns, and ears and it makes you feel like you're more human. The third makes you look completely human, suppressing all of the feeling of ever being a hybrid.

Sap had the last one, when he was younger he was ashamed of being a fire demon, but being part cheetah made it more bearable. He put the ring on, and a sense of relief stormed his body, his pointed ears were gone, his head of fire felt like a normal head and his other traits had disappeared. He hopped out of the building and ran, he was happy to be out, even if it was for a little while.

“What do I need?” he asked himself walking down the sidewalk and towards a supermarket. Sapnap needed carnivorous foods, he knew he liked beef jerky, there were other plant foods he liked though, “I’ll see what they have.”

He walked into the store and looked around. There were loads of prepared meals for people like him, he looked around the aisle and gleamed at the foods, they all looked so good. He grabbed a basket and filled it with a week's supply.

He was in the moment when his phone began to ring, panic filled his body he answered, “Hello?”

“Sapnap. . .” George was on the other line, and he didn't sound happy. A lump then rose in Sapnaps throat.

“Yes?” The next moments were a blur, he remembered asking to stay out just for a few more hours, he pleaded, but to no avail. But then George started getting upset, he began to yell.

He felt his body freeze and his mind went blank, all he could hear was yelling and muffled talking.

He snapped back to reality in an apartment, he turned to see a man placing food in the cabinets and in the fridge. When he finished he walked up to Sap and sat on the coffee table in front of him.

“Some guy named George is texting you,” Sap felt his pulse quicken, did he look through his messages? “I saw some of the messages right after I hung up. . .”

Sapnap felt sick, he wanted to speak, but his body tensed up, and he felt lifeless.

“You can stay here,” The stranger sighed, “I have some clothes you can borrow.”

“I’m Sap-” the phone rang and instantly he shut down. His throat closed up and he felt even more nauseous.

“Shit- Sorry it's my phone. . .” he quickly answered, “Yeah? . . . What?” Sapnap let his panic ease, just a little. “Hey, Sap?” the stranger was a bit panicked, “I have to go, I should be back in an hour, there's some of your food in the fridge and snacks in the cabinet. Bye!”

“Shit!” Karl cursed as he ran out the door, Phil just called him and told him to help with another villain, Riot. . . He ached at the thought of seeing him again. He quickly changed his attire and hopped into a portal, appearing next to Monarch.

“What’s he doing?” Monarch was bloodied and Atlas and Jeopardy were no better. “Shit.” The villain stood at the top of the building towering over them, Timeskip watched as Riot stared at him with a hateful glare.

“Am I late?” someone called, Hydro, his pure white eyes flashed the tiniest glint of red as he stared at Riot.

“You two are working together?” Riot scowled and huffed. Hydro looked at Timeskip and smiled, but his smile was off, something was bothering him.

“Well Skippy, it’s been a while, wanna kick his ass?” but subtly, more determination filled in his face.

“Why not, flame princess?” Timeskip then threw Hydro into the air and launched him through a portal directly on top of Riot, Hydro punched Riot causing him to fall to the ground. He then launched the other heroes at him.

Timeskip then launched himself into Riot, pinning him to the ground and holding him by the collar, “Where is Agony!?” he yelled. Riot just stared at him and smiled.

“There is nothing you can do.” he laughed, and he laughed and laughed. . . and laughed. Karl wanted him dead, for everything he did, he once trusted Riot, maybe a little too much. “The kid won't make it!”

“If that kid dies so help me I will hurt anyone you ever loved and make you watch.” He pulled off Riots mask to see who he thought he knew. . . who he thought he remembered . . . who he thought he loved. Riot looked at him with amusement, he leaned in closer and whispered in Karl's ear.

“Even you?” Karl dropped Riot, Karl wanted closure, he needed to know why Quackity left him, and why it hurt so bad.

“Why?” he breathed, it was just them, the heroes left to tend to their wounds. “Why did you leave me?” Karl stood on top of a man he once loved.

“It’s easy. . . I never loved you.” he hissed, Karl felt tears form in the corners of his eyes. It wasn't fair.

“liar. . .” he mumbled.

“What?” Quackity asked, more annoyed.

“LIAR!” he screamed, “You wanted this!” he pulled a wedding band off his hand, “YOU did, and now you’re telling me it was all for nothing!?”

“Karl…” An ounce of regret filled his voice.

“I want nothing to do with you,” he said, finally even after years of being away from him he’d never felt so relieved saying those words. “So don’t make this hard for the both of us and just leave.”

“Karl I-” he began, hoping to reconcile. Finally realizing what he said.

“Q!” Karl snapped, “I’m done waiting for you…” he choked on incoming sobs, “I-I wanted you to love me the way I loved you, and I thought you did.” he sobbed.

Karl turned from Q, “Quackity . . . I thought you were meant for me, I thought you wanted to love me” he clenched his fists as he once again faced his ex-lover, “but you ruined it, I had every bit of faith in you.” Karl hopped on the ledge and turned his back towards Quackity, “and now that's gone. I hope I never see you again.”

Karl ran, he ran and ran until he couldn’t anymore. He’d stopped on top of his apartment letting himself get soaked.

He sat in the rain and let it stream down his face, his tears began to pour out of his eyes and he let them, What if I knew this would happen? He asked himself, he pulled his mask off and bawled his eyes out. He walked down to his room, unlocked the door, and slowly shuffled inside.

“Hey. . .” he’d forgotten, Sap was in his house, and… he was still in his gear. But it’s not like it mattered. He was done. Done with everything.

“There are blankets down the hall, some spare clothes as well, I’ll be asleep.” he slowly walked over to his room, gently closing the door.

Sapnap knew whose apartment he was in, Timeskips home, the villain he’d banter with and make sappy jokes with. Sap couldn’t sleep, the man was truly kind-hearted and helped him without even knowing who he was, what if he found out? What if he kicked him out on the curb if he did? Sapnap didn’t know what to do, his head full of misguiding thoughts at 4 am.

He drifted to sleep, letting the haunted images of his peers looking down on him bleed into his skull.

Karl awoke mere minutes after his alarm went off, he hastily cleaned up from the previous night's ordeal and dressed in more casual clothes. He walked into the living room remembering the man laying on his couch, he looked exhausted and his phone was still on the coffee table. Karl had a familiar feeling arise as he looked at the sleeping man but was only by the tip of his tongue, he brushed it off his mind and began to prepare breakfast.

He hummed little tunes Tommy taught him, little lullabies the boy vividly remembered from his mother, and neat little tricks his father taught him. Karl . . . in all honesty was scared, he didn't know what kind of danger Tommy was in and he had little help.

Karl prepared the kitchen, he was ready to make a decent meal for him and his guest, he pulled out many of the foods from the fridge. He set the stove and prepped the meat, made some pancakes along with bacon, sausage, and ham.

Sometime later Sap woke up from his sleep, the smell of hickory smoked bacon and maple sausages slapped him out of any tiredness. “Hey um…” he mumbled. Timeskip looked at him and beamed, he set a plate aside and walked towards Sapnap.

“Yeah, I’m Karl.” he held his hand out for Sap and when the man took it he pulled him closer, then guided him to the island, “I made some breakfast.” Sap felt his face grow red as he stood and stared.

“Really? Uhh, thanks.” he eagerly grabbed a plate and served himself. Karl just watched him, he finally realized who Sap was, he didn't use a voice changer and after hearing his voice more clearly he knew. . .

“Quick question,” the other hummed in response, “Do you want to go home?” silence.

“No. . . will you make me?” he felt his mind begin to race.
Karl eagerly shook his head, “No, no. . . You get to stay as long as you like, I will not make you leave.” Karl clenched his fists, “Especially not back with that douchebag!” he felt his voice waiver.

Karl sighed as he stared down at the ground, “I have work today, you have free reign of the apartment. . .I’ll be back in a couple hours.” he hurriedly ate his food, grabbed his shoes, and portaled out of the apartment.

Sapnap watched as Karl portaled out, He knows!?

Chapter 11: Authors note

Summary:

Just some news on the fic, and promotion on my other fic

Chapter Text

I have decided to not continue the fic, I am planning on rewriting it. I didn't like th direction it was going in and the pacing I felt was too fast. I also felt it was getting really dark and it was kind of disturbing to me.

But please don't worry, I still am going to be writing for 'A Soothing Light' but it's going to be better planned and paced, hopefully.

I genuinely would like some feedback for stuff like this and i will be writing more for my other fic too. 'Never Say Never'

And if you guys have any recommendations for future fics I should write I would appreciate it.

Thank you for reading this chapter
