Chapter Text

“Come on, I absolutely can’t go to this party, alone! Please Dyl!” Braeden was met with the pale eyes rolling, before turning around, a sigh escaping his lips as he did. Dylan walked away, he could hear the slight patter against the floor as he did. He could feel his heart slightly drop, thudding in his ears like the boy walking away. Thudding like the rumble he would hear below his feet, the wind embracing his cheeks, peppering his face with a swelling red that he couldn’t keep away. ‘Fucking Dylan!’ Little shit! He wondered if Dylan ever got tired of his whining, sometimes it left a smile on his face, sometimes it left him looking into the ceiling, his head dazing into disgust. “Dylan! You can’t be serious, please!” He stepped outwards, desperation hitched his voice. Dylan can’t be doing this to him, for God sake he’ll fucking stop calling him a dumbass, he couldn’t go alone, not in a million years. He was sure about that, couldn’t that fucker understand?

“Stop Braeden, I’m just not going..” Dylan did a soft shrug, plopping onto his bed. The words sounded so effortless, was he really that sure? The thought made the boy feel bile rise up his throat. The curly haired boy sucked in a breath, it quivered, it ran a chill up his spine once the pale eyes met his. The other boy’s brows furrowed. Dylan’s eyes softened up, looking away, his eyes glazed with weariness. He looked back at him.

“Why do you even want me to go?”

His cheeks stung, galvanized with a pinging pain, cinching onto his jittery thoughts. He felt like he was on fire.

Anxiety rippled his heart, banging against his chest. He opened his mouth, his mind ran with so many words, so many ‘why’s’.

“Please.” He uttered.

‘Please’. The word so weak. But it broke down Braeden. Please, he wasn’t some fucking dog. But for Dylan? The boy made him feel like he was swimming in abyss, like how his brain swam for the last bit of oxygen, like his stomach swimming in anxiety that ate at his being. But Dylan? His glances of reassurance, his voice, his smile, his whole entity felt like he was feeling the breeze on his face, his foot planting into the ground, his board beneath his feet.

Dylan looked at him, a brow raising. It made Braeden’s stomach churn, it made his throat tighten up.

“When is it?”

Notes:

kudos n constructive criticism is welcomed! hoped you enjoyed this first chapter <3

Chapter Text

The boy gave a goofy smile, his toothy grin escaping his lips as a giggle extruded from his throat. Sweat dripped from his body, his pale skin looked- strange. Yellow light shone from the street lights, making Dyl look gross. His hair slicked with sweat, sticking to his forehead. Beads of sweat crept down his neck. He was sure if he wasn’t the only one here Dylan wouldn’t look like such a wreck. But the boy still had a grin on his face, still walking towards him, no awkward silence between them. It was nice. That idiot smile still plastered on his face, the one that made his own lips tip upwards. It made his lips quiver, his throat rumbling with a chuckle.

His brow furrowed, his nose scrunching up at him. Dylan’s head repulsed back. “What?” His voice filled the air. Warm.

It contrasted with everything, the cold kisses that Braeden felt on his cheeks, his fingers tingling, his knuckles numb. The sudden rush of excitement that struck through his body as he looked at the boy made his body jolt with heat. “You look disgusting.” Braeden smirked, looking him up and down. His voice quivered at the end. It wasn’t exactly Dyl’s most attractive state.

Dylan snickered, setting himself down by Braeden. The cold metal made his body twitch, his hot skin felt like it was singeing. “I’m so sexy right now! What’d you mean?” Braeden. glanced at him, “No, you look better when you’ve actually showered.” “Showered? I did shower?” Dylan gave him a dopey smile. Braeden just rolled his eyes, tsk. Dylan liked to play like a dumb shithead sometimes. “I know, but right now you look like a wet rat.” The brunette bubbled out a chuckle, his muscles relaxing.

Silence filled the air, tainted with the breath of each other. Dylan could feel euphoria ride his body whenever he had these nights with Braeden or Cole. Bliss would twist his stomach when he crept back into his house, the aroma of night air made his skin crawl, his cold skin meeting his sheets, his eyes meeting the ceiling. The dazzling stars still felt like they engraved into his eyes, the sound of his friends still filling his ears. The stupid things they would say, the euphoria that would strike his body once he’d be around them. Once he would hear their voices.

But all he could hear was the rustling leaves, a car revving up the pavement, but the smell of Braeden is what his body picked up the most. The aroma made his lungs swim, it smelt, sweet. It filled his lungs to the brim, that, made his heart race. More than him leaping up into air, more than the tip of his fingers hitting the leather ball. He closed his eyes, then opened his mouth slightly, like turning off one of his senses would take him out of this, make his body acculturate away from this. But the smell lathered his tongue. He felt like he was choking on it. But he didn’t feel disgusted. He didn’t feel his stomach spasm, he felt it rock.

“You smell good.” Dylan breathed out, the words had no thoughts behind it. Like when he’s back home, looking into the ceiling, when all that filled his mind was his friends. But this time, it was just Braeden.

“You smell disgusting.”

Chapter 3: have my heart (dylan & braeden)

Summary:

braeden grazes the surface of his new found problems of growing up while he finds himself with his best friend and that maybe, just maybe, he’s attached.

Notes:

i’m really pumping these out lmfao, but they’re genuinely fun to write cause i don’t think overarching things to connect to later. but enjoy this totally not blurring the line (unintentionally) platonic friendship <3

Chapter Text

The whistling of the breeze filled his ears, nipping at his face. Leaves blowed, the grass beneath him grazed his skin. Poking into his jacket, the breath of the brunette stood by, softly dozing. The stars danced around the sky, shimmering in triumph of living another day. No care in the world, over the atmosphere, the sky was the limit for them. They could reach out their hands, feel the crisp sensation of victory that he, himself, had desperately craved for. Like the sweetness that rotted his soul, but if he couldn’t feel it, he was left bitter.

He glanced over, the darkness flooded his vision, but the slight outline of his friend still jutted out. A soft sigh released from the boy, before he saw his head slightly turn. “Hey.” Braeden murmured, a snicker coming from Dylan. “Hey.” He replied, his voice smooth, it was like honey. It made Braeden’s lips turn up.

He looked back up, his eyes meeting back with the sky. “Why you staring huh?” Braeden glanced back, his brows knitting together. Confusion blurred his mind as he looked at him. “Huh?” He croaked, his voice cracking. Dylan chuckled, he saw his body slightly twitch along with it. Oh my God…

“Oh my God, that sounded hilarious!” Dylan exclaimed, his head stuffing into the ground. “Shut the fuck up!” He pushed his shoulder away, scooting himself away. “What? You don’t like me anymore?” He could hear his smile, it caused his heart to jump. “Yes! I fucking hate you!” He yelped, a smile interrupting his harsh sentence. Dylan’s laugh filled his ears as he said it. He saw his head slightly throw back. He finally saw his face, not just a barely viewable silhouette. His pale skin shining with the sickly yellow lights. A toothy smile covered his face, his teeth glistening in the light.

The boy looking at him, his pale eyes meeting his. The boy just stared, his eyes hidden with something he couldn’t catch. It felt roguish, it made his nerves jumble up, his brain turn into white noise, all he could hear was the slight tap of his heart. The whistling returned, the cold grass that jabbed at his exposed skin tickled, the freezing air chastised his skin. “We both know you’re lying.” The voice was breathy, a fondness lied deep in it, it was like molasses. It’s brown liquid dipped into his skin, dipped into his heart, making the tapping grow louder.

“You have my heart, I don’t think I’ll be able to get it back even if I wanted to.” The words left his own mouth stunned, becoming dry with his tongue doing a small click. He didn’t know what he meant, but he knew it was true. Dylan had a part of him he couldn’t get back, Dylan entrapped his being. Dylan had a portion of him that gargled with admiration, that bubbled with ecstasy, something that left Braeden bewildered.

thank you for reading this, the writing in here is kinda sloppy. but critiques, correcting or adding tags, and kudos are welcomed!

Chapter Text

“Oh my God! Cole!” Braeden exclaimed, pushing to boy’s shoulder. Cole chuckled, shaking his head. “What! Dylan actually said that!” Cole’s voice heightened in pitch, Braeden rose his brow at the dark haired boy. Cole’s face contorted with amusement, his hand covering his face. Before Braeden turned to face Dylan, his cheeks flushed a red. ‘Idiot…’ The fondness of the boy rushed the thought. “Ah you fucking idiot Dylan!” Braeden rolled his eyes, falling back into the bed. “It’s not even that serious! I was joking!” Dylan spoke, his words falling upon the own hums of Braeden, he saw annoyance gleam in his eyes, his brows slightly furrowing at the boy.

He just smiled at the brunette, “You could’ve actually gotten a girl. And you just waste it, huh, pretty boy?” The word sent flares up Braeden’s chest. ‘Pretty boy’. The word wasn’t a meaningless thing thrown in to make Dylan feel heat rise up into his face, make the frustration singe his brain.

He was pretty.

Dylan rolled his eyes, looking away, his eyes landing right onto Cole. “What’d you think, mullet boy?” Cole gave him a glance, his brows furrowing, his lips slightly twitching. “Yeah, dude, you’ve totally missed your shot.” “Totally missed the hoop!” Braeden chimed in, his voice radiant.

Dylan glanced over at him, before his eyes set back into Cole. “I don’t like her anyways, not a big deal, guys.” Dylan gave a soft shrug, his face softening up as his body fell back into the mattress, the sound of his body hitting the bed made a swoop sound.

Cole’s nose scrunched up, before his mouth gaped open, a few syllables releasing from his mouth in stutters. “What! She- you don’t like her!?” Cole finally got out, a confused look flustered his face. Dylan glanced at him, a smirk covered his face.

“You sound like you got a little thing going on..” Braeden perked up, excitement chased his body as he jumped into a sitting position. “Huh!? Cole!? Mullet boy! You got a crush?” Braeden questioned, his voice high, loud enough that it made Cole wince.

Cole felt heat rise into his face, covering into his chest. His throat tightening up, he felt like he was chocking on his own saliva.

He cleared his throat, before talking. “No! I-I really don’t!” Dylan giggled, covering his mouth as he did. Cole pulled down his shirt, fucking Christ… his fingers laced into the end of his shirt, his tips feeling the thread that kneaded together into one.

“He’s playing with his shirt! He definitely likes her!” Braeden teased, a wide smile plastered his face as he looked at Cole.

Chapter Text

“Dylan!” Braeden ushered, the body stepped forward, a creak struck through the air once his foot met the wooden planks. It made Braeden’s heart fall into the abyss, “Fucking Christ! Dyl!” Braeden murmured, his body stepped back, hesitation strained his voice. Dylan turned his head, a toothy smile came across his face. His white teeth glistened in the light, it trailed goosebumps over his body, sending a shocking wave of heat to run up his body. His pale complexion radiated in the white light, emanating his smallest features. The dips under his eyes from freezing nights, their bodies leaning against a metal table, or laying down, wet grass itching his skin, filling his nose with the grimy smell of wet dirt. The nights that left Braeden completely, utterly, affixed to the boy.

He looked divine.

“Huh? You scared?” Dylan murmured, his body turned to face the curly haired boy, a creak instilling into the air as he did. It made Braeden wince in response, little fucker! His face roguish, it made Braeden’s mind burn with frustration. “No! Just get off!” His vocals forced out the words, strained along with his own heart pacing. It made his face scorch, the feeling creeping up his chest. Fuck!

He was scared.

“You sound scared.” Braeden froze, the pale eyes looking into his, a smirk plastered this face, his heart thudding in his ears, the brunette looked at him, a softness in his eyes that melted him.

“I don’t want to get caught. Now get the fuck off!” It was a pathetic attempt, Braeden knew it. Dylan just looked at him, his figure motionless. “Would you catch me if I jumped?” Those words, it sent his mind into the ocean. Filling his heart with a bitterness that salted his tongue,  “What- what?” He stuttered out the word, his own stomach stirring. He felt like he was falling straight down the bridge they stood on. He shuffled around, his nerves sending a vile feeling up his body.

“Would you?” Dylan’s eyes stuck onto his, he was fucking joking. He had to. He couldn’t, he could never, do this to him. Never, he couldn’t do this to Cole, his parents, himself.

The expression on his face made his mind taunt at the idea, it baited him in. It made him absolutely delirious.

He was serious.

“Yeah.” Braeden murmured, his heart banged against his chest. “You’re crazy.” Dylan chuckled, walking towards him. A smile crept along his face once again, it made Braeden feel relief stretch across his body. It made a snicker extrude from his lips, it made his heart steady down. Utter reassurance ground his thoughts at the boy smiling back at him.

“Fuck you.”

Chapter Text

He let out a small giggle, his hands wrapping around the window sill, the metal sent shivers up his back. The light from the moon shined down, Dylan features jutted out in a way that made Braeden’s heart tug. His eyes drunkenly looked into his, his pale skin shone in the light white. His under eyes heavy, steeping with a blue undertone that made Braeden writhe in his own skin.

“Hey, Dyl.” His hand went to his shoulder, his shirt grazing against his palms. “Huh?” He murmured, his voice a distant croak. It made Braeden’s heart stutter, his hazy eyes looking into his, gleaming with distance that stained Braeden’s whole being. “You good?” Dylan gave him a smile, weak with his white teeth glistening. “Of course, Brae. Where’d you wanna head?” Dylan looked away, moving forward, his shoulder pressing back into Braeden’s hand. “I want to stay.” Braeden ushered out, he could feel his own concern chase the words. He was so fucking pathetic for Dylan.

Dylan looked back up, lazily giving him a small frown. His pale eyes shone in the light, it made Braeden’s insides stir along with his nerves screaming at him. “Come on.. it’s a tradition.” He slurred out. “It’s like 50 degrees, I rather be warm than a popsicle.” Dylan gargled a giggle, “Come on Braeden..” “No. Now move, asshole.” He uttered, a smile pursued his lips. Dylan let out a small groan, before moving aside.

Braeden jumped in, his feet planting into the ground. He felt the warmness of the house capture his body, his cold skin singeing at the sensation. He looked over, Dylan pulling down the window with a swoop. The light that danced around the boy glowed, illuminating his figure. Dylan turned over, his face blurring into nothing but shadows. “Sit down asshole, you look weird just standing there looking at me.” A chuckle left Braeden’s lips, before flopping over onto the bed. The warmness scorched his face, kneading into his skin. “Why do you leave such a warm house for me and Cole? I would never want to leave here.” He mumbled into the sheets, his hands knitting themselves into the blanket. He could smell the slight aroma of cologne, the smell left his body feeling tepid, sultry. A trance that left his body ablaze.

He heard a swoop, before the bed slightly squeaked with weight pulling down the mattress. Silence. He could hear the slight shifts of the boy, his breath entrapping into the still air.

“Cause it makes you guys happy.”

Those words left Braeden in a sea of confusion, his thoughts overlapping into each other, blurring a line of feelings that made his heart stutter.

“You know, I’m fine with just being in a warm house, talking to you.” He felt a scorching sensation on him, even more than the words that left the brunette’s lips. He looked down, barely making out the eyes that looked back up at him. “Would you be happy?” Was Dylan high? He must’ve been, he’s being ridiculous. “As long as you’re okay. I don’t need some bullshit stars, basketball, skateboarding or something. I like hearing your voice or whatever, hanging with you or Cole is all I need.”

“My voice?” He could feel his dopey smile looking back up at him.

“Yeah.. I guess.” His voice hypnotized Braeden, left his insides stirring with ecstasy that basked in his mind for days. “You’re bad at hiding shit.” Braeden saw the brunette’s eyes slightly furrow. “Huh?” He slurred out, confusion sweltering the words. “You’re not good, like at all.” He heard the boy’s breath hitch, the air just filled with Braeden’s own breath.

“It’s nothing.” Braeden let out a snicker, “Nothing? Fuck that.”

The air stood stagnate.

“It cause of all our nights out.”

Braeden felt his mind sand down into absolute misery. “Why didn’t you tell me you need a break?”

“Cause you wouldn’t feel good.” The words shot out of Dylan’s mouth so sure it made Braeden’s own mind want to shout at him.

“Dylan. Honestly, I care more for you than some bullshit nights.” Dylan chuckled, low, muffled down by his palm covering his mouth.

“You wouldn’t be happy. Brae, you probably think this shit we’re doing right now is lame. I’d rather have a fun time with you than whatever this is.” Braeden rolled his eyes, sitting back up, a sigh releasing from his mouth. “Fucking Christ Dylan! Can’t you see? I don’t care if we play basketball or skate, it’s about us hanging out. And if you’re tired cause of our outings, than just hit me up and say ‘Hey Brae, I feel like dog shit, so can we not hang out tonight?’” His voice slightly raised, he couldn’t be this dumb.

“Chill, asshole. Can we just sleep?” Braeden felt his cheeks burn, not with embarrassment, but his stomach filling with a warmth that rose up to his chest, filling his throat like bile.

“Finally!” He uttered, his body falling back into the mattress.

He could hear the slight breaths of Dylan, his body shuffling once in awhile. He could hear the slight breeze hitting the glass window, crickets chirps jutting out into the air.

“You’re such an asshole Dyl, but you’re like.. cool. At the same time. I don’t know.. you’re like, fuck.” His words drifted into the silence, to behold no one’s ears.

His own little secret, one that felt like a field of bliss, ecstasy.

One that didn’t feel like a secret.

Chapter Text

He looked over at the Dylan, an exhale meeting the air with a breathiness of amusement. The warm summer air still drilling into his face, body. The dark sky freckled along with stars, the street light dimly lighting up the boy’s features. Sharp, creasing every detail, exaggerating each detail. But softening up his freckles, his pale eyes darkened. The sight that beheld him left his mind to reel back years away from the moment. His breathe still held in the present, his body, but his entity left into a different scene. Almost the same, but so different.

Time changed, we’re different.

His eyes glancing at the boy in front of him, pale eyes, pale skin. Young, even younger than he is now. His eyes capturing a purity, glistening with innocents, nervous electricity that radiating from both bodies still apparent. His mother by his side, the dark aura lifted with the chattiness of the two mothers. Once he heard those few words about the one select item leave Dylan’s mouth he knew. Somehow, in his undeveloped brain he felt a spark tumble in it, cogs moving with it. Till then, he’s been with the boy. Like a dog, following him.

But my mind still says redundant things.

This shouldn’t have worked, it never should’ve. But somehow, they found each other.

“You good?” His voice breathy as ever, chastising the warm air. It brought him back to the present, the baby-faced Dylan dissipating into a more matured one. A smile still on his face. Nostalgia still picked at him, chipping away the new paint that has inhibited his conscious. He swallowed away at the nostalgia, gulping down the after thoughts.

Can I not think?

thanks for making it to the end!! <33

Chapter Text

His thumbs grazed over each other, the soft pads touching each other. He looked up, boredom hazing the eyes of other. His hands pressing into a backpack, pushing down clothes he's stacked into it. He can only imagine the pain in his knuckles, like fire flushing his hands. "Why'd you think Brae wanted a sleepover?" He murmured, the thought of flaring pain moving away, instead focusing on what Braeden had told them at school.

"Come on, you prick! It'll be fun!" The voice was swallowed up by the chattering of others, Dylan was sure if Brae hadn't been nagging him the whole time in class he would miss what he said. But he had, and he felt his patience meet an overdrive.

"Fine!"

The way Braeden's eyes lit up made him feel like he might have made the right choice, that he was really a prick, that he might've really been too hard on the idea.

The dark haired boy's eyes finally met his, lighting up with an edging ruggedness, his body stopping mid-motion, like his mom just caught him doing some weird shit.

"I dunno, maybe his sisters habits finally getting to him." He scoffed the last part, a smile tugging at his lips as he walked away, yellow light shining on his body before he disappeared into the bathroom. "Heartless.." Dylan uttered, a smirk prominent on his lips.

"So no drinking, smoking, nor drugs!" His mom's voice hard, her eyes staring holes into his skull, he could almost feel all the blood run out onto the seat. Dylan felt his cheek twitch, before it started stinging. At least the blood wasn't streaming down the side of his head. "Uh-huh, we won't mom. Don't worry." He murmured, looking away. The sun was hovering above the hills, he'd call it a mountain but Braeden said it was a hill, and Cole had agreed to that statement, so he ran with it.

"Alright.. goodbye! See you Cole!" She turned her head to face the boy, a smile on her face. Welcoming as ever, warmness that dueled the coldness of her son. He just nodded, "Goodbye Mrs. Minnette!" He shot out, almost letting out a giggle at the name. It always made amusement wriggle his actions whenever he said it, and it made Dylan weirdly annoyed.

Dylan opened the door, hearing the door open and slam by him. He gave his mom a quick 'love you' and a smile, before slamming the door. He turned to look at Cole, a stupid smile on his face. His lower lip quivered, holding back a laugh. "Oh shut up. Go!" He pointed his finger to the house, almost like he was a dog.

Cole just let out a laugh, hardy, sounding like it was pulled out from the depths of his chest.

The door opened, his eyes meeting the boy who lived there. Braeden.

"Wassup!" He exclaimed, a brightness glinting in his eyes as he did. "Braedy!" Cole's voice smooth, but the way Braeden's face wrinkled up was a piercing contrast. "Fuck you."

Dylan snorted out a breath from his nose, maybe a laugh. "Dyl! You need to learn how to laugh, bud." Braeden mused, his attention divided between the boys. "Nice to see you too, Brae." Dylan grumbled, then he heard a voice. It boomed, forcing itself into the moment.

"Minnette and Preston! Come in! Brae! You know better than to leave these two in the cold!" Braeden's eyes shifted to his side, his father barging into the scene. Cole sucked in a breath, "Uh- it's not that cold, sir." His voice soft, but it looked like it never reached its level of formality nor excuse. It over reached its formality.

"Nonsense! No need to call me sir, as well. Lemasters is fine." His voice was warm, his scent filled with coffee. It almost made Dylan's nose twitch with the smell overbearing his whole senses. "Come in!" He piped up again, his hands placing onto Braeden's shoulder, before moving to make more room for the boys. Cole did a small nod, "Uh, thank you Lemasters." Before walking in. Dylan just let a weak smile fall upon his face, before following Cole into the house.

"We already ate dinner, but if you guys need anything I'll be here!" Lemasters left as soon as he appeared. Dylan let out a pent up sigh, looking at Braeden. His face flushed with a red, dusting his neck as well. Cole chuckled, but it looked like Braeden could about choke. "Your dad-" "He's okay." Dylan interrupted, "Uh-huh, he's okay." Cole agreed, his head nodding along with his. statement. "Shut up, just go to my room." Braeden voice wobbled, "Oh? You gonna have sex with us?" Dylan scoffed, "Fuck you first of all! And just go!" Cole shrugged, "Fat chance Brae if that's true!" He saw his face turn even more crimson, his eyes narrowing down, annoyance peaking into it. Docile was soon turning to aggression. Before he could see almost all the creases wrinkle his face, Cole pulled his arm, a yelp escaping his mouth before he was pulled up the stairs, his shins hitting the bottom steps with a groan shrieking into the air from himself and the stairs.

"Fuck you, Cole!" Dylan cursed under his breath, before continuing up the stairs. "Not my fault!" "Uh, yes it is!" Dylan shot back, before looking back down, Braeden's face soft, a small smirk laid upon his face. "Whatcha smiling at!?" Dylan furrowed his brow, fake anger covering his eyes. He saw the boy just roll his eyes, before following suit.

"It smells weird..?" Cole murmured, his finger touching his face. "Don't touch it!" Braeden grabbed Cole's hand, before shoving it down. Cole's face furrowed, disgust contorting his face. "You did just not?"

"Yeah, I just did!" Dylan let out a snort, lifting himself up on the counter. The two boys faces were covered in green, a face mask that Braeden begged them to do. He smiled, his lips exposing his teeth. But the sensation of the mask slightly sticking to his skin when he smiled made his nerves scream with an almost ill struck feeling. The feeling of his skin be chilled also made his spine curl.

Braeden turned, his brows knitting together as he met Dylan's eyes. "You think you own the place? Get your ass off of my counter!" Dylan felt a laugh erupt from his throat, the sound of Cole's filled the room, the voices bouncing off the tile floor and walls.

Braeden groaned, "Fuck you guys." Cole just snickered, "Alright tough guy."
