Chapter Text
"Poppy-corn! Poppy-corn!"
Zuzy's popcorn song echoed through the kitchen, along with Zee clapping her hands to make a beat and the humming of the microwave, which if you didn't guess by Zuzy's popcorn song, was heating up popcorn.
As it beeped, Pony took the popcorn out. He separated it into 3 bowls, lightly salted two of them, and left the one he claimed as his own unsalted. Zee and Zuzy were handed their bowls, and the three marched on towards the couch.
"Alright, we have quite the choices here... What do you two wanna watch?" Pony asked the twins as they browsed through Kona's massive collection of movies, which they pirated before the infection started for archiving purposes. He even made sure to check if it was the actual thing!
Zee excitedly pointed towards one specific movie. Pony went past it by too fast though. "You wanna watch Incredibl-" Zee shook her head immediately, pointing toward one specific movie.
"Child's play...?"
Zee nodded.
"Uh... Zuzy, what about you?"
"Sure! I've heard that it's pretty cool."
Pony was in a slight state of concern. "You two sure you want to watch this? It's.... It's a horror movie... And uh- You know those can be... Scary!"
"We can handle it!" Zuzy replied cheerfully. "Right, Zee?" Zee nodded with a scarily sweet smile on her face. Pony realized the two of them had outvoted him, and gave up. They've seen worse after all.
"Alright, just... sit down on the couch while i start up the TV." Pony had admitted defeat. The twins hopped onto the couch, Zee grabbed a blanket and curled up into the right corner while Zuzy sat near the left corner, expecting Pony to sit there. She was right, and as the movie began, Pony had sat down next to her.
"What's with the nervous look on your face, horsey?" Zuzy asked.
"No, no! I'm not scared, I'm fineeeee! Just- just focus on the movie, and not on me!" Pony answered, quite obviously lying. "Sure then.." Zuzy chuckled, followed by a giggle from Zee.
Timeskip to near the end of the movie...
Pony whimpered and shook as the intensity of the movie raised. You could tell the whole scene of Chucky being tossed into the fireplace was a bit too much for him. On the other hand, Zee had gotten quite interested in the movie, and Zuzy got bored halfway though and fell asleep.
Kona walked in on the honestly quite hilarious scene in front of him.
"Pony, you alright there?" He pat the horse's shoulder to get his attention. Pony jumped the moment Kona touched him, yelping louder than a church bell. Zuzy grumbled a bit as she woke up, disturbed by the rude awakening.
"..... I'll take that as a no then!" Kona looked at what they were watching. "Aren't Zee and Zuzy twelve? Why are they even watching this?"
"I had no say in deciding the movie... They chose it themselves. They want me to keep watching it with them..." Pony answered. Zee nodded to confirm. "Besides, we're 11, so shut the frick up." Zuzy added. (Such language!!! Naughty!!!)
"Honestly, I'm not even surprised anymore with you two.." Kona sighed. They didn't know how to save Pony from this hostage situation, knowing how chaotic the twins can be.
Chapter 3: That horrid night
Summary:
My take on the worst night of Georgie’s life
And probably the last Wattpad import!!! Yippee!!
Chapter Text
It has been 4 hours.
He was supposed to have dinner by now.
Georgie sat by the stairs, waiting for his family to return. They had gone for what he remembered was volunteering to test for a cure for... linna mona? Linie moela? Whatever that was. He wasn't allowed to go because he wasnt considered old enough, so he had to wait here for them to return. His mom said it would take about 2hours, but it has been double that time, and now he's hungry and cranky a-
"Georgie!!!"
Georgie didn't have enough time to notice his sister charging towards him and pulling him into a hug.
"Not.. that tight..." She usually wasnt this violent with her hugs. Penny apologized and loosened the hug a bit, before letting go.
"Hey, mom! Hey dad!"
...no reply. They ignored Georgie as his dad locked to door, and then they headed into the kitchen to prepare dinner. Penny had already ran off upstairs to do homework, so he decided to just do his own thing for a bit.
————————
"Dinner's ready! It's spaghetti!"
The siblings ran downstairs. It's spaghetti! Why wouldn't you run downstairs for that?
As they sat down, a weirdly tense air sprung up. Georgie noticed that everyone seemed weirdly on edge, and if they were to start a conversation, it would probably end up being a fight. He decided to keep his mouth shut and pray nothing bad happened.
"... What's with the spicy sauce? This isn't supposed to be on spaghetti." Penny complained. "Blame your father. He didn't know what he was doing at all."
Mom was kind of harsh at times, but usually not this harsh and not this casually....
"Don't blame me. You insisted on having me do it this time." Father spat back. "Yeah, because you never even learnt how. You barely ever even help out with cooking, and when you do, it end up going bad!" Mother yelled back.
"And what am i supposed to do about it?! I have a job, and you take care of the kids and cook at home! That's usually how it has been, and you expect me to know how to exactly replicate your work?!" Father yelled back.
"Everyone, calm down, please! Just please finish your food, i don't want a fight..." Georgie really didn't this to keep going how it was going. Mom and Dad went quiet, and reluctantly went back to eating, even if it was just to keep the kid from getting stressed out by their fight.
Dinner finished, and Mother and Father told Georgie and Penny to go do their own thing while they cleaned up. Georgie was just happy it was over.
————————
"Pen Pen, you seem kind of... irritated today. You doing okay?"
Georgie and Penny had been doing their usual habit of quietly hanging out together while doing their own thing. Georgie had noticed that his sister got more upset at the little things than usual, from getting her sweater caught on the doorknob to her phone taking a while to load something.
"I don't think anything's wrong right now, what do you mean?" Penny seemed kind of oblivious to her change in behaviour. "You usually don't get this angry over small problems. Earlier, you caught your sweater on the doorknob and you got pretty mad about it." Georgie spoke.
"... probably nothing." Penny was dismissive of her stress, which was kind of upsetting to Georgie. "You know if anything is wrong, you can tell me, right?"
"I guess a hug might help, or something." After Penny said that, Georgie immediatly hopped into her lap, wrapping his arms around her and pulling her close. Penny reciprocated the hug.
"Thanks, Georgie."
————————
1 AM.
Penny couldn't get herself to sleep.
Her head hurt so bad. It was pissing her off.
Not to mention hearing the sound of her parents fighting earlier, for some reason.
She didn't even know why they did.
She didn't even want to imagine why.
They barely ever fought.
......
She needed to get some aspirin.
Hopping down from her bunk bed, she was ready to leave when....
"You can't sleep either?" Georgie was also awake.
"Yeah, my head feels like it's about to split apart, i can't even think straight...." Penny could barely reply due to the headache. Georgie hopped out of bed. "Hold on. Lie down in my bed for a bit, I'll go get you some.... Some.... What was the headache medicine called again?"
"Aspirin."
"Alright. I'll get you some aspirin! Just lie down and try to relax!" Georgie ran out the door, not even bothering to make sure he didn't wake his parents up. He could barely hear Penny thanking him before he closed the door.
Georgie entered the kitchen to find his mother, leaning on the kitchen counter, muttering "No" over and over, shaking violently and holding her head up. As he ran up to her, she passed out. Georgie started to panic at this point. "Mom, Mom! Are you okay?! Are you... there...?"
His mother stood up suddenly, and as she opened her eyes, he noticed a horrifying strange glow in them.
That wasn't his mother.
Not anymore.
She lunged at him, but Georgie barely avoided it. His mother hit another counter, knocking her out. He took the chance to get the aspirin and fill a glass with water, and rushed to his room in panic.
He returned, giving Penny the aspirin and water. Georgie sat down at the foot of his bed, which his sister was still borrowing, and sat there, trying to catch his breath. "You really just ran the olympic half mile for some aspirin, huh?" Penny jokingly remarked, seeing how her brother was violently panting.
"Penny, this is no time for jokes...." Penny got confused at Georgie's sudden seriousness. "But seriously, why are you so out of breath? Did you not want mom and dad to catch you or something?
"Actually, I saw mom passed out in the kitchen, and when i tried to help her, she.... tried to attack me... I don't know why she even did tha-"
He was interrupted by sudden pounding on the door. The siblings knew they were screwed now. "What the hell are we gonna do?! We're stuck here, and we'd get hurt really bad if we jumped out the window!" Penny was starting to realize something was up.
Georgie grabbed the bat from the side of his bed, and stood in front of Penny, knowing she wasn't in the best state to defend herself. "Pack our backpacks. I don't think it's s good idea to stay here." He called out. "But isn't this just too far now?! It's only mom!"
Just as penny said that, the pounding on the door got more frequent and louder. "... nevermind! I-i'll pack our bags. You keep watch!" Penny started packing up their stuff. She took a few bags of sweets and chips and two water bottles, and that was all she managed to get in before the door broke open. In stormed their now infected parents, who Georgie knocked off to the side and grabbed Penny by the hand, who wasn't even finished packing up, and ran towards the front door.
The two stood before their escape door, and would have probably opened it if they didn't remember that it was always locked 'in case of robbers'. "Oh, this is inconvenient... do you know where the key is?" Penny asked.
Georgie did not remember where the key was. "I guess we have to look for it then.. Penny, you look wherever you can. I'll keep watch for mom and dad.., if that even still is them..." Penny could see the situation was starting to affect him. She nodded, and they split up. Georgie stood by the stairs in case of their parents breaking out, and Penny searched for the keys.
————————
Penny's headache was only getting worse.
She was barely even able to focus. The aspirin was only able to help her for a few minutes before the pain returned, and even worse. Upstairs, she could hear the occasional thud of Georgie warding off their parents. She hoped he would be okay.
She had checked the entirety of the lower floors, but she couldn't find anything. What she was able to find were a box of matches, a box cutter and the emergency aid kit they had lying around. Penny had stuffed them into the backpack, and it was starting to get full. She didnt think she could fit anything else for now. She decided to run upstairs and tell Georgie about the disappointing news.
"Georgie, I can't find the keys down here!" She yelled up at him. He blurted out to check upstairs before going back to focusing on the ongoing battle. How he hadn't gotten hurt yet was a mystery to him. Baseball training really paid off.
Penny dashed past the battle and into their parent's room. It didn't take long for her to find the keys, much to her surprise. She immediately ran out, taking a lamp with her to help Georgie out.
The first thing she saw when she left her parents room was Georgie struggling to ward said parent's off. She whacked them off Georgie with the lamp, then grabbed his hand and ran towards the door.
"Penny, what are you-"
"I have key, let's go!" Penny unlocked the exit door, running as far as she could, dragging Georgie along. Her headache became more and more overwhelming with every step she took, and eventually, she stopped running. She couldn't take it anymore. Penny sat down, leaning onto a nearby tree, heavily panting.
Georgie sat down beside her, also trying to catch his breath, but not as much as Penny.
"Penny, you look like you're in pain. Did you hurt yourself while running or something?" He asked her, noticing the pained look on her face. "Head hurts so bad... I can't go....." Was all she was able to get out. "Alright, we can take a break until your headache gets better. Then, we'll continue walki-"
"No... I can't..." Penny interrupted. "P's cure... i think it... caused mom and dad to...."
"You think it caused them to turn into zombies?" Georgie asked. Penny nodded. "I took it too... it wont be long until i turn."
"But.. but what if they just..." Georgie was trying to convince himself this wasn't happening. Penny had already accepted her fate by now. "I can't feel legs... Head hurts, vision dark..."
"Hey, Georgie..." Penny grabbed Georgie's hand. "Run somewhere safe... To grandma's. She'll help..."
"But i don't wanna leave you here! I dont- no, i'm not going without you!" Georgie wasn't ready to leave her behind.
"I don't want you being hurt... by me..."
"I-i know you wont do that! ..on purpose at least.... Cmon! Just... Just go with me! Please!"
He didn't want to lose his sister.
He didn't want to lose their comfortable silence while doing completely different things together.
He didn't want to lose the nights they stayed up late playing Wii Party and dissing the AI.
He didn't want to lose struggling to stand up at the skate rink while the both of them kept falling down, laughing.
He didn't want to lose countless hours spent drawing dumb silly things and then laughing at their 'art'.
He didn't want to lose turning the stairs into a slide and going down it over and over until mom and dad told them it was getting in the way.
He didn't want to lose the comfort of falling asleep in each other's arms on rough nights.
Georgie looked up at Penny, tears blurring his vision. Penny gently cupped the side of his face with one shaky hand.
"I'll turn any second now.... I want you to be safe.
.....Please.."
Georgie finally accepted that Penny couldn't come with him, as much as he wanted her to. He gave her one last hug, tighter than usual.
Georgie let go and stood up, not ready to move on, but having to. "Promise you'll stay safe.." Penny requested. "Alright. I'll come back for you, with a cure! I'll make sure i will!" Georgie promised in return.
"I'll see you then.. See you on the other side."

Knock, Knock.
Lego woke up to the sound of knocking on his bedroom door. He was quick to realize it was just Spidella. "Come in, Spidey.."
The door opened, and she walked through the door and onto her dad's bed. Lego sat up, and Spidella immediately snuggled into his chest for comfort.
"...Alright, are you alright? what happened?" Lego asked, knowing full well it was probably a nightmare.
"I had a nightmare..." Spidella replied, confirming his expectations. "There was this hallway, and there was a pizza slice, it had legs and a pizza cutter, and it tried to kill me... okay, why was this keeping me from sleeping?"
"I mean, I'd be terrified if I saw that too. I can't blame you." They both giggled for a fews seconds.
Spidella sat up, ".... Can we sit on the balcony for a bit?"
"But I’m pretty sure it’s about 10 degrees (celsius) out..."
"Please? It's really clear out tonight, and the sky looks pretty..."
"Fine.. your fault if we get a cold, missy." Lego got off the bed, and Spidella followed.
————
"Got your coat? It's cold outside." The two were about to step outside. "Got it!" Spidella happily blurted out, excited to go watch the stars.
"Alright, let's go then!”
Lego opened the door, and Spidella ran up to the edge of the balcony and started looking up at the stars, Lego walking up and standing close next to her.
It was completely quiet, except for soft wind and owls hooting far away. It was a very clear night, so the stars were shining in the deep, dark blue sky. Occasionally, a cloud drifted by.
She loved this view more than anything.
Spidella slowly started drifting off to sleep, leaning her head on the balcony railing.
"Allright, that's enough, it's cold and you're falling asleep."
"Nooooo..."
Lego scooped Spidella up despite her protests, and brought her back in. She was too tired to really be mad, so she just let herself go limp while being carried back to bed.
"Can i sleep in your bed tonight?"
"Let's see, i'm free from work, so i can wake up later.. you're waking up at-"
"I think 9 or 10."
"..eh, sure. We can sleep in anyway."
————
Lego returned to his room, Spidella still in his arms. He put her down on the bed, tucked her in, and then lied down himself.
"Hope you're happy... Goodnight."
... no response, besides soft purring.
".. she Fell asleep already.. Goodnight to you too, I guess."
Lego kissed her forehead, and slowly dozed off.

“I just…. Can’t believe she’s gone.” Mimi sniffled.
The safe place lost Zizzy to the infection today, and no one is taking it well.
“Yeah.. She was one of the strongest fighters I knew, and… No one else here can believe it either.” Lego sat next to her as she cried, one hand on her shoulder.
“Hey, Brickman?” Mimi scooted away a bit
“What’s up?”
“I think I need some alone time..” Lego nodded, and left the room.
————
The hotel felt empty.
Not in the no-people way… it just felt void of joy.
Lego stood in the stairway connecting the third and fourth floor. He needed a way to distract himself.
On the third floor, Pony was too busy crying his heart out. He had requested to be alone just like Mimi, so it’s best not to bother him and stay off the third floor, so not to deal with the sound of Pony crying.
On the fourth floor, he could hear the twins and George playing some sort of game to distract themselves. Despite the occasional sniffle or sob, it seemed to be working. Lego was too tired to play, though.
Something was telling him to go to the roof.
He went to the roof access point. Someone was already on the roof, it seems. The ladder leading up to the trapdoor had already been placed. Lego didn’t care much, and went up to the roof.
Once he got there, he saw Giraffy staring out into the sky. Lego sat next to him.
It was dead quiet that night, save for the sound of the wind passing by. The sky was clear, and the stars shone brightly.
“… she would’ve loved this.”
“Who? Zizzy?”
“… I said that out loud, didn’t I?” Lego muttered. “Zizzy probably would have liked this too…”
The rest of the night was spent in silence, except for a few occasional sniffles. It was just the two of them staring out into nothing.
…well, except for Mimi, who dragged them back inside at 2 AM.
