“This is all your fault, you know that right?”
“Excuse me? I insisted that you take the couch, but you wouldn’t listen.”
Jinx scoffed, “Of course not. I told you, I’m not sleeping anywhere unless you’re with me.”
“So why’re you complaining?” Vi questioned with a nasally voice.
“I’m not complaining, I’m just stating a fact.” Jinx giggled, tightening her hug on Vi before turning her head to cough into the covers.
“You’re gross.” Vi jeered weakly.
“I love you too.” Jinx answered with a small kiss to her lips.
And so the two stayed, sweaty and filthy under the covers, trying to focus on each other’s warmth instead of the mucus running down their noses.
Their makeshift tranquility was interrupted by a loud growl from Jinx’s stomach, who’s eyes widened in slight embarrassment.
Vi merely chuckled, trying her best to not erupt into a coughing fit.
“You hungry?”
“Yeah.”
“Me too.”
They stared at each other.
“One of us should make us some soup.” Jinx suggested.
“Agreed, one of us should get up and do that.”
Neither moved, the stare continued.
“…..”
“…..”
Jinx cracked first, a strained but genuine laugh escaping her lips. Vi followed suit, joining in her sister’s infectious laughter.
Their shared joy was cut short as their laughs quickly devolved into an intense coughing fit.
“Ugh, this sucks!!” Jinx exclaimed.
“Yeah, no shit.” Vi weakly replied.
