Fan Project
FusionFall: Ascension
This fan-recreation is based on an MMO platform adventure game developed by Grigon Entertainment and published by Cartoon Network known as Fusionfall. The game used the Unity engine as its client technology basis, and was one of the first major releases utilizing this technology. Furthermore, it had an E 10+ ESRB rating for cartoon violence and comic mischief. This is also dedicated to Fusionfall Retro & Fusionfall Legacy created by the fans for the fans. Thank you for allowing us fans to relive our childhoods one more time. Also, for starting a wave of new Fusionfall Fan Projects and helping grow the community. We Thank You!
Synopsis
The story is a retelling of the Fusionfall lore from the original and additions made by Retro/Legacy and focusing on a plethora of different cartoon network character in a series of arcs with an overarching narrative involving one character in particular; Cheese (Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends). Here’s his story now.
First Guide: Dexter
Prologue
Hero’s Hollow: Initial Invasion
(Darklands, Hero’s Hollow). A war was being fought under the vibrant green sky filled with eree dark clouds, explosions resonated throughout the battlefield as heroes from every walks of life were fighting to defend their home from an incoming threat. They were fighting an ever growing army of viscous green globs of ooze with bright crimson eyes with the unmeasurable intent of eradicating everything that comes in their way. There was a hero at every corner of the battlefield; Mutant children, superheroes, giant robots, evos, aliens, cryptids, even alien heroes in the middle of it all was Cheese.
Dialogue:
Dexter: “The primate was right.”
Dexter was looking at the giant battle through the window of his mobile laboratory building. He was in a large office and next to him was The Tyrannical Evil Monkey Genius; Mojo Jojo was also looking out on the battlefield.
Dexter: “This doesn’t seem to be going in our favor!”
Mojo Jojo: “You should have listened to Mojo because I; Mojo Jojo–.”
Dexter: “ Based on your mediocre genius, I tend to not take you seriously.”
Mojo Jojo: “Watch your tongue, boy!”
Before an argument could begin, Dexter was connected by Ben Tennyson. Dexter threw a digital cube-like instrument from his coat to the ground and it hit the floor, a hologram of Ben manifested from it.
Ben: “Dex!Can you hear me”
Dexter: “Go ahead, Ben. How are you holding up?”
Ben: “It’s bad. Slimy green guys everywhere. The shields are holding…for now, they may give out soon and if that happens–. “
Dexter: “If that happens this– whatever this thing is will inevitably spread worldwide. We need to hold them here! I’ll see if I can make the shields hold longer”
Ben: “That’s only half the battle…*sighs*...how do we win this, Dexter?”
Dexter: “For the first time ever, Benjamin...I don’t know.”
Back on the battlefield; Blossom & Bubbles were zooming around, shooting their heat vision at the alien army.
Blossom: “The more we fight, the little it seems to do anything! It’s like no steps forward, a thousand steps back!”
Bubbles: “These Fusion Spawns are gross–! Blossom, we could use Dynamo, right?!”
Blossom: “N-no!…Bubbles we can’t…”
After a moment of silence, Bubbles became noticeably disheartened. As the horde seemed to increase, Dexter was before, at what seemed to be a control panel. Dexter again, threw the cubed instrument on the floor to contact another hero.
Dexter: “Coop! Come in Coop!”
A hologram of Kiva appeared.
Kiva: “Dexter!”
Dexter: “Kiva?! Where’s Coop right now?!”
A glimpse outside Goat’s Junkyard showed Kiva talking through a device on her wrist while Coop and Jamie watched as green ooze was falling from the sky and landing all over the junkyard, even Megas.
Dexter: “Is Megas operational?!”
Kiva: “Green ooze fell from the sky and put Megas out of commission!”
Dexter: “The shields are becoming undone, I’m currently trying to get it back to full strength but whatever is invading us right now is pushing the shields to its limits!”
Kiva: “I don’t think Megas can aid in this fight. Dexter, I’m sorry.”
Dexter: “I-It’s alright Kiva. Dexter out.”
The cube instrument then logged off the call.
Dexter: “This situation continues to get worse and worse by the minute.”
Mojo: “If you only had listened to Mojo–.”
Dexter: “Not the time, primate.”
A hologram of Ben suddenly shot up from the cube.
Ben: “Dexter, after so many years, my Omnitrix is on the fritz! Some of that green ooze landed on my Omnitrix and it got hacked!”
Dexter: “Come to the mobile lab, now!”
Ben: “It’s going to take a while–.”
Suddenly a second hologram but this time of resident Brainiac of Peech Creek; Eddward also known as Double-D, shot up from the cube instrument.
Double-D: “Dexter it’s getting really bad out here!”
Dexter: “I’m aware of that Eddward! Is that why you called, to convey the obvious!”
Double-D: “Well, rudeness aside, I actually have an idea but I need some cover”
Ben: “What’s this plan of yours’ Double-D?”
Double-D: “All in good time Benjamin.”
Dexter: “I’ll contact Numbuh 1 to help you on your mission!”
Back on the battlefield, A giant robot bunny, Numbuh 3’s; H.I.P.P.I.E.-H.O.P., was rampaging through as many Fusion Spawns as possible. Meanwhile, Numbuhs 1, 4 & 5 were running through the battlefield with Ed and Double-D trailing close behind.
Numbuh 5: “Alright, Numbuh 3 cleared a path!”
Numbuh 1: “Ok people, let’s get the Eds to the safe area!”
The group continued to sprint through the chaos.
Numbuh 4: “Don’t worry *huff* sockhead, you’re in good hands!”
Double-D: “I’m very grateful to you guys!”
Numbuh 5: “Don’t thank us just yet, hopefully this plan of yours works!”
The group then arrived at a cave opening.
Numbuh 5: “Alright, we’re here!”
The group then enters the cave and Double-D bagen to pull out fabric from his backpack. Once the entire thing was taken out, it turned out to be a large homemade monster costume.
Double-D: “Alright Ed, I-I need you to become a monster again, ok?”
Ed: “Oh Boy! I get to become a monster! Rawwwrr!”
Double-D then replied; “Be careful ok, Ed.” in a worrying somber tone.
Ed then whispered; “Don’t worry Double-D, I’ll come back.” Ed began to suit up, the costume had cloth tendrils, a large cloth tail along with the usual sleeves for arms and legs. The headgear was stitched with jagged teeth made of aluminum foil, bulbous eyes and horns made of the same fabric. Once Ed was finished suiting up, the costume resembled that of a fictitious beast. After a short moment of silence, Ed started shaking vigorously and started mumbling which a few seconds later went to, feral growling. The group began to be intimidated by Ed’s transformation and visibly shaking from the potential threat. As the Ed’s growling got louder and louder, eventually becoming powerful roars that echoed through the cave.
Numbuh 4:” W-Was this part of the plan?!”
Double-D “Yes it is, Wallabee and I suggest we step back…way back.”
Roars continue to resonant off the cave walls and ring within the ears of Double-D and the Sector V operatives. Ed then stormed right past them, through the cave opening and right into the horde and started destroying everything enemy in his path.
Numbuh 4: “Talk about an Ed-Zilla!”
Double-D: “This happened before but this time he seems to have some semblance of control in this state…I hope.”
Double-D used a device on his wrist to contact Dexter and informed him about the plan’s success.
Dexter: “Good, are you sure about this? I mean, more help the merrier but–.”
Double-D: “I’m going to keep an eye on him.”
Dexter: “Ok. Dexter out.”
After the call ended, Numbuh 1 then approached Double-D.
Numbuh 1: “Will you be alright here, Eddward?”
Double-D: “Y-yes I’m fine here Nigel, go.”
Numbuh 4: “Are you mad? I’m staying here and protecting you, duh.”
Double-D: Thanks, Numbuh 4.”
Back on the battlefield, heroes left and right were battling against the ever growing horde of the green ooze and in the middle of the warfare was Cheese, nonchalantly avoiding the countless fighting around him and seemingly oblivious of what was really going on around him. Cheese eventually made his way towards Dexter’s mobile laboratory and after trying the front door, he walts around the back of the building and noticed some sort of generator. It was a large cylindrical structure with a horizontal orientation.
Cheese: “Snack bar!”
Cheese went over to the generator and gave it a slight kick. After the kick it started sparking, shaking rampantly.
Inside the mobile laboratory, Dexter and Mojo were hurrying through a hallway, eventually entering a massive room that housed a massive robot.
Mojo: “Ah, The Dexbot 2000.”
Dexter: “I’ve done all I can. Mojo, I will need your assistance to watch over my lab while I join the battle!”
Mojo Jojo: “This is the last time you give me, Mojo Jojo, orders that I don’t want to adhere to. I, Mojo; Mojo is brilliant, Mojo is competent, I—.”
Dexter: “That’s exactly why I’m leaving this responsibility to you, Mojo.”
Mojo Jojo: “...Alright, child but you will owe Mojo.”
Outside, behind the mobile lab, Cheese was still fiddling with the mobile lab’s power generator
Cheese: “I’m Hungry!”
Cheese began to violently kick the power generator, thinking it was a vending machine but this only did further damage to the generator which eventually led to it shutting down and the whole mobile lab shutting down. Within the building, all the lights began going out which startled Dexter and Mojo.
Mojo: “The power–!”
Dexter: “What’s going on?!”
At this time, Dexter was at the foot of his robot.
At that moment an even bigger swarm of fusion spawns began raining down upon the heroes. One by one the heroes began to be overwhelmed by the attrition of the enemy. A beaten Lance calling out for Ilana, Rex trying to fend back the incoming horde of spawns, and unconscious Zak being protected by an exhausted Fiskerton. All over, the heroes were beginning to lose. Outside the mobile lab, Cheese was running from his mistake and ran into Ben.
Ben: “An Imaginary Friend?!”
Ben quickly noticed the mobile lab’s power shutting down.
Ben: “What did you do?!”
Dexter and Mojo rushed out of the building in a raging panic.
Ben: “Dex!”
Dexter: “My generator must’ve gone out.”
Ben: “I saw this little guy out here.”
Ben pointed towards Cheese that was slowly trying to creep away.
Dexter: “Cheese?! What did you do?!”
Cheese was too scared to speak, however. Mojo then noticed a massive light coming down from the sky.
Mojo: “Something is breaching the earth’s atmosphere!”
The horde of green drones suddenly ceased their fighting and because of the lack of enemy aggression, the heroes also stopped fighting and became distracted by the massive light that crashed down in the far distance and on impact, it sent a massive and visceral shockwave across the battlefield. This shockwave sent debris, dust and smoke everywhere and after the dust settled, Dexter was on his stomach, he then raised his head and looked over to Ben that was staring up in the while also on his stomach. Dexter then looked up in the same direction as Ben and was in awe of the gigantic humanoid made of the green ooze and dark green rock-like material with wings and multiple protrusions. As Dexter continued to gaze at the creature, his eyes crossed paths with the giant’s piercing red eyes.
Ben: “Lord Fuse”
Dexter heard Ben’s whispers.
Dexter: “Is that its name?”
Ben: “I-I don’t know”
Cheese rose from his unconsciousness and quickly noticed the same giant atrocity which set him backwards, right back on his behind. Cheese began to look around him and saw everything and it finally seemed like he realized what took place and what he’s done. Cheese ran then ran away from the destruction, from his mistake. Throughout the wrecked battlefield was Double-D yelling Ed’s name.
The Time Is Now...
