Minsoo pursed his lips as he stepped out of the building. It was winter, and they were on break, but with all the snow, there wasn’t much they could do. He shook his head sadly as he thought of all the chaos he’d planned to spread. Alas. And then it hit him. Literally. Minsoo gasped. “How dare you?” he yelled, swirling around. His glare hit Daehyun with the force of a thousand suns. His finger shook as he pointed at the cold, wet splotch on his sweater. “Do you know what this is?” His voice was dangerously soft.
Daehyun’s eyes were wide. “A-a snowball?”
Minsoo shook his head slowly. “Guess again.”
“A sweater?”
A maniacal grin grew on Minsoo’s face. “Oh you sweet, sweet summer child.” His face went abruptly serious. “No. No, this is an act of war.”
Daehyun’s face had gone pale. “No, no, no I didn’t mean-”
Minsoo laughed evilly. “It’s too late to take it back. It’s war now, and I always win.”
Daehyun screamed, running back inside. His hands waved above his head comically. Minsoo chuckled. His break plans were set. He was going to crush Daehyun.
Daehyun’s voice echoed out of the building. “Dongho, I think Minsoo is going to kill me!” Minsoo rolled his eyes. Kids these days were so dramatic. It’s not like he was going to seriously injure Dae.
--
Minsoo walked into their dorm, practically radiating glee. He didn’t miss the frantic, anxious glances Daehyun threw Dongho and Jaewon. He also didn’t miss the careful way their eyes slid over to him and back to Daehyun before slowly shaking their heads. His grin grew. Ah, life was good when you were the most unhinged member.
After they’d all eaten, he yawned, stretching. “Ah, well. I’m going to bed. I’ll see you guys in the morning?”
Dongho looked at him oddly before responding. “...but you normally go to bed like five hours later?”
Minsoo scowled. “Aren’t you the one who wants me to fix my sleeping habits?”
Dongho blinked. “Well, yes, but-”
“Well then, I don’t see what the problem is.” Minsoo continued to practically skip to the room. Step one, complete.
Now, to complete the rest of his genius evil master plan. He slowly snuck over to Daehyun’s room. It was dark. It was silent. He hid by the bed. Now, to wait.
It had been half an hour. Minsoo was not too proud to admit that this was not one of his better pranks.
Daehyun walked in an hour after Minsoo began his stakeout. Minsoo grinned. It was time. As Daehyun turned to go to bed, Minsoo screamed as loud as he could.
Daehyun jumped, eyes wide as his head whipped to turn towards Minsoo. “What the fu-”
As quickly as it had began, it was over. Minsoo was silent as he grabbed Daehyun’s blanket and scurried out of the room, like a little rat.
Daehyun stared after him incredulously. The door swung slightly on its hinges - the only proof of Minsoo’s moment of madness.
Dongho’s head peeked into the door. “You okay, Dae? I heard a scream.”
Daehyun blinked. He shook his head in stunned silence. “It was Minsoo.”
Dongho winced. “I don’t want to know.”
Daehyun nodded, eyes still wide. He resigned himself to sleeping with one less blanket that night.
--
Tensions were high the next morning. Or, rather, Minsoo was up bright and early, and grinning as he watched Daehyun’s fearful expression as he was handed a plateful of delicious looking pancakes. Daehyun smiled, slowly pushing it away. “Ah, I’m not really hungry-”
Minsoo frowned, cleared his throat, and glanced pointedly at the still-untouched stack.
Daehyun took a tentative bite. His eyebrows rose in surprise. Minsoo smiled angelically. “Are they any good?”
Daehyun nodded weakly. He glanced warily around the room, as if worried Minsoo had hid a giant boxing glove in one of the cupboards.
(Of course he hadn’t. Minsoo never repeated pranks.)
--
Minsoo watched as Daehyun’s fingers skittered nervously across the table surface. Daehyun was very, very nervous. It had been three days since Minsoo had promised to exact revenge, and he hadn’t done anything more than steal a blanket. Minsoo knew that Daehyun was on the edge of his seat. And, well, Minsoo hated to disappoint. If Daehyun expected a grand, awful, evil prank, who was he to deny the youngest’s whims?
--
Minsoo swore as the bucket of snow landed on his head. This prank was much harder than Minsoo had thought it would be. He had heavily overestimated his engineering abilities when he’d decided to set up this attack. It had seemed so simple on the YouTube video. He sulked as he trudged outside to retrieve more snow. He carefully arranged the wire and bucket beside the door.
There. Perfect. Now, to wait. Minsoo positioned himself behind the door, outside of a direct line of fire, if Daehyun decided to throw a handful of snow at him. Daehyun had said he’d be home in five minutes, which was enough time for this to work. He’d set it up so that the bucket was carefully positioned outside the door, but it was still possible for the snow to melt, since it was right next to the wall.
The door began to open. Minsoo leaned forward, eyes filled with glee and anticipation. A crash, muffled swearing, and - oh no that wasn’t Dae. Minsoo slowly turned to face a very, very cold and very, very irritated Dongho. Minsoo swallowed. “You’re not Dae.”
Dongho smiled. It was a very scary smile. “You’re right. I’m not Dae.” Minsoo had the sudden feeling that he should’ve run away. Dongho’s hand came up and threw a handful of snow into Minsoo’s face.
Minsoo spluttered. “You- you- it’s cold!” He frantically rubbed it off his face.
Dongho gave him a flat look. Minsoo sighed. “Okay, fair. I deserved that.” And then, lightning fast, he grabbed another handful of the snow in the bucket and threw it at Dongho.
Dongho growled, but a smile played on the edge of his lips. “Oh, you’re on , Minsoo.” He turned back outside to grab more snow.
Minsoo grinned back, following Dongho outside. “You’re gonna wish you didn’t just say that.”
Jaewon and Daehyun arrived ten minutes later, to Minsoo and Dongho laughing their heads off and covered in snow. Daehyun shook his head in mock sadness. “Jaewon, I don’t think they're okay.”
Minsoo turned to face Daehyun. His face curved into a sharp smile. “Oh no, Dae. You’re not getting out of this that easily.” Daehyun’s face barely had time to twist into horror before the snowball hit it.
Daehyun pouted as he wiped the snow off his face. “ Hyung. ”
Jaewon giggled. Daehyun looked at him, face the image of betrayal. Jaewon giggled louder. “I-I’m sorry, you just look so ridiculous. ” Daehyun scowled. Jaewon’s giggles turned into shrieks as Daehyun began pelting him with snowballs.
Hours later, freezing cold, with fingers that ached in the room temperature air, Minsoo, Dae, Dongho, and Jaewon sat laughing on a sofa. Minsoo sat in the middle, surrounded by Dongho’s arms and Jaewon’s quiet presence. Dae lay in his lap, playing with his hoodie strings. Minsoo's fingers carded through Daehyun’s hair. Daehyun suddenly spoke. “So does this mean we’re no longer at war, Minsoo?”
Minsoo cackled. “Oh, sweet, sweet Dae.” He smirked at the terror on Daehyun’s face. “You wish.”
Daehyun gulped.
