Angel of Death

Summary:

The bedroom door to the king’s room quietly opens, revealing the young prince.

“Father. I wish to speak to you.” The prince says quietly, walking closer to the king who was currently laid up on the bed. The king coughs, his body shaking with each heaving cough.

“My..boy..” The king whispers as the prince walks closer, a large toothy smile on the prince’s face. “What are..you doing?”

“Freeing myself.” The prince says simply before pulling out his knife and lunging for the king.

Work Text:

Thunder loudly rumbles outside of the castle, the dark hallways only illuminated when the lighting cracks. The young prince quickly walks out of the Kings room, his footsteps quick and quiet as their shoes stick to the floor.

Tonight was Atsushi’s 21th birthday, making them old enough to claim the throne as their own. A large party had been thrown in their honor, but they weren’t interested in the slightest. Not when everyone else could party and celebrate while he was to suffer in silence like every birthday from before.

Everything was to go how his step father wanted. Everything always went as his father wanted.

Even in the kingdom he ruled with an iron fist went to the same conclusion. If it didn’t benefit the king, he didn’t care about it. Many people and towns suffered because his step father seemingly didn’t find any use in them.

Strict rules were set in place for those who were important to him, valuable and cannot be lost. Tax after tax were formed, making the people under his thumb weep and suffer. Just like his stepchild if they too hadn’t given what the king wanted.

Never had the kingdom seen Atsushi, never knew their name and some didn’t think they truly existed. The king always said it was to keep the child safe but Atsushi knew it was to hide the ever growing bruises on their skin that seemed to grow faster than infections.

They knew they had much to continue once they were to step up to be king, their step fathers shadow being large and all consuming.

They knew that they only had half a year before they were to be sworn in as king, but tonight, they had arranged to make the date just a little bit earlier.

Atsushi quickly walks down another hallway after making sure no one was following them. A small piece of paper was held right in their hand, the instructions written in clean and precise cursive hidden away in the folds of the paper. The handwriting always brought a smile on their face, the little hearts and his name so beautifully written making his heart soar.

Walking up the stairs up to their room, their steps became faster and faster as they acceded up. They open the door to their room then smiles when they sees the man they had been waiting all year to see.

“Happy birthday, my love..” The vampire clad in all dark clothes quietly says with a small smile, bowing respectfully.

“Oh Ryunosuke! How I missed you!” Atsushi cries out happily, running over to their love and hugging him tight, pulling the other man from the bow. Ryunosuke smiles more and returns the hug gladly. “I missed you more, Atsushi.” He whispers in his loves ear before pulling him into a kiss, his long fangs nearly cutting Atsushi’s bottom lip from how ferocious the kiss was. Atsushi gladly returns the kiss, hugging him as tight as he possibly could.

“How long are you going to be able to stay?” Atsushi whispers when they part from the kiss, gasping quietly as Ryunosuke nips their neck gently. “As long as possible…I could stay until you are king if I were hide well.” He mumbles against the milky skin. Atsushi smiles brightly and gently lifts his chin. “Is this true?” They ask, excitement clear in their eyes. Ryunosuke smiles at how excited his love seemed.

“Everything I ever say is true, my sweet. Now, shall we feast then take a stroll? Or shall we go dance?”

“Let us feast, then dance. I believe the cake would be delicious this time. A red velvet, my love.” Ryunosuke scoffs quietly, making Atsushi giggle. “How foolish of you.” He gently takes Atsushi’s hand and leads the way to the balcony, a table with two chairs and snacks covering the table already there.

Atsushi could’ve sworn he had never smiled as much as he had now. “Oh it’s wonderful, ‘Nosuke…let us eat this at once!!” Ryunosuke chuckles quietly and nods, pulling a chair out for his love then pushing it back in once Atsushi had sat back down.

The table was covered with raw meat on sparkling clean plates. Animals of all sorts were on the plates, even a few human limbs. The blood leaking from meat was starting to soak the lacy black table cloth, staining it a faint red color. It all brought a smile on Atsushi’s face as they looked at the meal, their own fangs shining brightly in the light.

“Oh how I’ve hungered for a meal like this..” Atsushi commented, a faint line of droll running down the corner of their mouth. Ryunosuke merely smiles and pushes a chalice of a ruby red liquid to Atsushi. “Shall we make a toast?” He offers as he holds his cup up. Atsushi smiles and nods, holding their own chalice up.

“To another year of love and life.”

Atsushi taps his cup against Ryunosuke’s then downs the contents of the cup, Ryunosuke doing the same. “Now…let us eat, darling. You look dreadful..” Ryunosuke noted, gently taking the bony hand of Atsushi and kisses the top of it. “Human food doesn’t keep me going like it used to…it all turns into ash in my mouth and makes me sick…” Atsushi explains before he starts to eat, his pace quickening when he remembers how delicious warm flesh tasted on his tongue. Ryunosuke nods and starts to eat as well.

The two happily chat with each other as the meal quickly gets devoured. By the time it was finished, all that was left on the once sparkling plates was large bones, the flesh picked clean off. The two were hugging each other close, swaying from side to side slowly as they enjoy the company of the other.

“You ate much more than last time, Jinko..” Ryunosuke murmured as he gently plays with Atsushi’s hair, the blood on his hands staining the silver hair. “I’m very proud of you. You must’ve been hungry, huh?” Atsushi nods the best he can while leaning into Ryunsuke’s touch, staring into the black eyes that seemingly held no light. “I had an appetizer earlier, so it helped me gain my hunger back. Thank you for the wonderful meal.” He nods and leans a little closer, licking the blood off the side of their cheek before he kisses them.

They weren’t aware of how much time they had spent under the moonlight just kissing and hugging each other, but it felt like hours when it could’ve only been minutes. They both weren’t sure, but they didn’t care.

“Now, my love…how about we go dance?” Atsushi offers, giggling quietly as Ryunosuke sucks another mark onto their neck. “I would love to…come now. We must dance at once.” He offers them his arm, which they gladly wrap their other arm around his just to stay close, before they start the decent back to the party.

Blood was stained all over their clothes and hands, a murder seemingly just happened due to their hands. Atsushi’s white formal suit showed the blood far more than Ryunosuke’s black one.

Many gasps could be heard when the two walk in, all eyes on them. Ryunosuke just chuckles quietly and holds Atsushi closer. They both knew it was an extremely risky move to be in the open like this, but they wanted this moment. They silently join the people dancing to the music playing, the thunder and lightning joining in with the dance of love.

Slowly, people started to back away from the madly in love couple with horrified looks when they realize what the two were covered in. The music soon stops when a faint scream of pure horror could be heard down the hallway, however the two did not stop their dance of love. Two guards bring forward the shriveled body of what remains the king, his head no longer attached to its body. People scream and cry in horror at the sight before the guards pull out their guns and starts to fire into the crowd.

Atsushi didn’t even flinch at the sound of the bodies hitting the floor, the screams almost music to their ears. Ryunosuke covers their ears with a small smile then kisses them gently. They melt into the kiss, spinning around with his love. They didn’t feel afraid. How could they? Their angel’s held them so safely in his arms. Their beloved Angel..
