Chapter 1: Recollection

Chapter Text

Every time she passed the master’s room, Nero could help but feel a twinge of sadness come over her. Trying as the emperor of Rome might to figure out what exactly it was that brought forth these feelings, she found herself coming up with a blank. Not helping was the stupid fox girl - Tamamo no Mae.

“Go away.” Nero muttered and shot Tamamo a look. Met with a glare back, why did a twinge of love echo forth? Why would she ever love someone as vain as she was? This was a false positive.

“No, you are the one who needs to leave. I can’t believe that I loved you at one point.” Tamamo countered and stepped forward. Getting into Nero’s space, she could feel the intensity here. A good thing that she could be just as inten-

“Nero, Tamamo?” a voice called out, bringing with it Gudako. Yet, her voice was not that of her own. No, it was that of another person. One that was familiar and yet, distant. Why can’t she place it?

“Be my husband!” Nero announced, Tamamo trying her hardest to barge forward in the hopes of uttering the same words. Obviously Gudako had to accept. She had said it first, after all. What claim did that stupid fox spirit have?

“No, be my husband!” Tamamo countered and Gudako rolled her eyes. Different universe, same old issues. Putting one hand on Tamamo and the other on Nero, she pushed both servants together. Lips meeting, they were far more to engage in a romantic embrace than their attitudes would suggest.

“I won’t be either of your husband’s until you both learn to accept each other's presence. Okay?” Gudako announced and Nero froze. Why did that sound so familiar before? This hadn’t been the first time this conversation had occurred. But when and where?

Closing her eyes, Nero tried to remember.

Moon Cell, ‘Rome’

It had been a rough day. A couple days after the mess that was Velber/Selphyr and there were very muchkinks that needed to be worked out.

“No! I want to be the one who takes our husband out!” Tamamo announced, head coming awfully close to Nero’s. How dare she attempt to steal her hubby away when she very much had plans for her as well.

“I asked her first!” Nero countered, trying her hardest to break through that stupid fox girl’s defense’s. But all that accomplished was her opponent doing the same as well. Sooner or later one of them had to give. Once that occurred, Hakuno would have to take the winner o-

“My loves, you’re scaring Altera.” a voice called out, bringing with it Hakuno and Altera. Far smaller than she used to be, the young saber was quite confused by what was going on. Especially when it came too her mommies fighting. "If I'm going to be your husband, I need you to accept each other's presence, okay?" Hakuno explained as she pushed her spouses together. Kissing in a frustrated embrace, that was enough to soothe their husband's worries. At least, until the next incident.

"Yes, dear." Tamamo announced and scooped Altera up. Giving her a hug, she handed her daughter off to Nero. Doing the same gesture as her spouse, care is taken in setting Altera down.

"Thank you, mommies!" Altera announced as she got a hug from Hakuno for good measure. Afterwards, Hakuno motioned for them to follow as the memory ended.

Flushed back out to reality, Nero found herself staring down Tamamo. Eyes meeting, their lips interlocked.

“Better?” Gudako inquired and was met with a look from both servants. Turning quickly into glares, where was Kiyohime when you needed her. Probably on her bed, demanding to give love and attention

“No. You better not do that again!” Nero announced, her face betraying how she actually felt in that moment. Curse her perfect face, a gift from Aphrodite herself.

“Yeah! I would never share a woman like her with my husband.” Tamamo answered, gazing right in the direction of Nero and Gudako. Conflicted emotions on full display here, there wasn’t much use hiding them.

“Mot- Master, why have you brought my moms over? Am I in trouble?” Altera announced and felt Nero and Tamamo’s gazes shift to her. Tempted as it would be to sneak away, they both had a feeling that they weren’t getting out of this easily. Especially as the child leashes come out.

“No. Consider this… a family reunion. Yeah, that.” Gudako answered and watched Altera’s eyes light up.

“I would love that, mom.”  Altera answered as she watched Gudako leash up her servants. While they were bound to come anyway, this was for the best.
