Notes:

Hi, this is my first story ever, so sorry if it isn’t the best. If you have any tips for me, feel free to let me know. Same with questions you might have, go ahead and ask! I wasn’t sure what to do for tags, so if I need to add some go ahead and tell me. Also I’m only going to post about four chapters unless this gets read and is liked, so if you do like it and want to read more, I’d appreciate if you let me know.

Chapter Text

Prologue

*In a random alleyway in the country of Thorndun*

Two figures sit huddled together. “Blaze, we will have to leave soon. Winter is coming, I can smell it” the younger one says. “I know, Lupin, I can feel it getting colder. The only reason we haven’t left yet is because this town is friendly to us homeless people.” The older one, Blaze, responds. “As much as I know that Green Grove will give us better chances at surviving this winter, the people of that town aren’t that friendly to strangers. Don’t you remember last winter when a group of teenagers attacked you, calling you a ‘No Name?” “But Blaze!” Lupin whined “What if we went somewhere else this winter? Somewhere safer, with a lot of wood, so you can keep us warm! Like the Mystical Forest.” “No Lupin, there are elves there.” Blaze told him “And I doubt they’ll be happy to see us there, burning their trees. But we don’t need to worry about that just yet, we need to sleep.” The two boys fell asleep.

*A dark room far away, in the kingdom of Kokayan*

A cloaked figure ran through a forest, easily blending in with the shadows. The cloak moved slightly, revealing a small blood red dagger embroidered above his heart. ‘No, I-i failed. How could I fail? I’ve never done it before, how could I now? No, it wasn’t my fault. It was that human’s fault. He sensed the death and reported it. It was his fault that I had to flee before finishing my mission. King Zander won’t be happy about this. Hopefully, the punishment won’t be too harsh. Of course it won’t be, he is a kind king, even though everyone else calls him cruel, merciless. He’s nothing like a human, though, he’s a savior. My savior.’

*Green Grove Manor, Thorndun*

The mansion was bustling with activity. No one remained asleep. In the bedroom of the Lord and Lady of the manor, two bodies lay, both with throats slit. In the corner of the room stood three children, one older than the other two. The younger two were sobbing uncontrollably, the older one just barely managing to keep herself from following her brothers into impenetrable grief. She was crying lightly, silently. The two bodies were being inspected by a doctor, and the room was being searched by guards. “Miss Summer” The silence was broken by a quiet voice “I apologize for what I am about to say, but you are now the oldest of the Wreath family, which makes you the Lady of the manor. And today we are scheduled to have visitors, the Hare family from the Mystical Forests. I believe they will arrive soon.” “T-thank you for reminding me, Simon. You're right, as the oldest of the Wreath family I am the Lady of the Manor and therefore in charge. I am in charge and therefore now responsible for all my parents were. This may be a time of grief for everyone here, but that doesn’t mean the world stops. I will meet with the Hare family.”
*The Warped Lands*
“You understand what has to be done?” A voice quietly said. “Yes' ' was the answer “I understand, My King. I will find the boy, and help him. Just as you have asked.” “Not just him” the first voice, the King, said “The others as well. The halfing who was burdened with too much, too young. The elf whose opinion was never considered, who has always been ignored. You will be their guide, the messenger who leads them to greatness.” “And what of the werewolf, sir?” The messenger replied “What about the little werewolf that the human boy is so fond of?” “Oh, him?” The king said “I’m not sure, I have seen nothing of him in my visions. He will not be traveling with you I assume.”
