Chapter 1: A/N

Chapter Text

I don't own the Owl House and I know that the last episode is coming soon, and I wanted to bring in a sequel with some adventures in the Human Realm. The first two chapters will be out tomorrow. But read the first one first and don't forget to check out my Good Parent Belos one shots and leave some requests too.

Chapter 2: First Night

Chapter Text

Without hesitation, The Collector sent Luz, King, Amity, Willow, Gus, Hunter and Philip through the portal door before Caleb had taken possession of him. The portal door exploded and now they were trapped in the human realm. Luz tried to open the shack door to see the Boiling Isles, but it was just the inside of the shack. It started raining hard as Luz took her friends to her house; she knocked on the door and her mom opened it. “Hey Mom. I’m back.”

Her mom hugged her tight as they both cried tears of joy being reunited. Camila welcomed them all with open arms and even offered them something to eat; after she hugged King and called him adorable. After dinner, Gus helped wash the dishes while Luz grabbed some more band-aids for everyone’s wounds. Hunter went to thank her for not telling the others that he is part Grimwalker. Both of them were afraid that everyone would hate them, Luz helping Caleb find the Collector and Hunter being related to a witch hunter.

Philip noticed his nephew and Luz looking worried about what their friends might think. “Alright you two. It’s ok. Luz, you are not responsible for me finding the Collector. And Hunter, you’re my kid not Caleb’s. I love you very much. No matter what.” Philip stated before giving Hunter a tight hug.

“Thanks Philip. How does it feel? You know, being free?” Luz asked.

“Well, it’s different. But it’s a good difference. At least I don’t have the craving for palismen anymore or hearing my brother’s voice in his head.” Philip answered.

They joined the others with Camila who were explaining what had happened in the Demon Realm and at the Day of Unity. Camila was still trying to wrap her head around it all, but she was willing to let them stay for as long as they needed. With that Camila and Luz get everyone a place to sleep for who knows how long they'll be here. The girls, Vee, Luz, Amity, and Willow are all grouped up in Luz's room. The boys, Gus, King, and Hunter were going to sleep in the basement except Gus would be sleeping on the couch and Hunter would get the sleeping bag. Camila keeps her room and Philip was left with the couch in the living room.

Philip didn’t really mind since in the life span, he had before lived in the Boiling Isles, he had slept on hay or the floor if it was an option. He was starting to get his coat off as it was too hot to keep on, never mind trying to sleep with it on. Camila came by to hand him a blanket and pillow to sleep with. “I hope you’ll be comfortable.” she spoke.

“It’s just fine. Thank you. And I apologize for everything that happened with Luz and my brother, ma’am.” Philip apologized.

“Please, call me Camila. I see where Hunter gets his manners from. Like father, like son.” she said, trying to lighten the mood.

Camila left him then he decided to check on Hunter in the basement. When he got there, he saw King asleep on Gus who was also asleep. He turned to Hunter who was lying on the sleeping bag, tossing and turning in his sleep. Philip was about to head back upstairs until he heard Hunter whimpering and mumbling; he was having a nightmare. Philip ran down the steps and started trying to shake Hunter awake from his nightmare. Hunter woke up in a panic, sweating from the dream.

He looked up to see his uncle worrying about him, Hunter sprung into Philip’s arms, crying softly into his chest. Philip carefully picked up Hunter then brought him upstairs and into the living room, so Gus and King didn’t wake up. Philip rubbed Hunter’s back, trying to get him to calm down for them to talk. Hunter looked up at his uncle but he just clinged onto him tighter, thinking that he might disappear. “Owlet. Please don’t cry, baby. I’m here. I’m not going anyway.” Philip softly spoke.

Hunter stopped crying but he was still shaking from fear. Philip started singing a lullaby that would always calm Hunter down when he was little. “ No one's gonna hurt you. No one's gonna dare. Not to worry. Whistle, I'll be there. Demons'll charm you with a smile for a while. But in time, nothing can harm you. Not while I'm around.” Philip sang softly.

He sang the last part of the lullaby a few more times until Hunter started to fall back asleep in his arms. He didn’t want Hunter to be alone, so he put Hunter on the couch and draped the blanket over him. He gave him a small kiss on the forehead before falling asleep on the floor, knowing that his nephew is safe from that monster.

Chapter Text

The next morning, Hunter was awakened by the smell of breakfast. He got up from the couch to find both Camila and Philip making breakfast. But there was something different about Philip from last night. Instead of his hair being all gray and faded, it had turned brown. His scars were still visible on his face but they were more healed. Luz and the others were already at the table, waiting for breakfast. “How long was I asleep?” Hunter asked as he joined them.

Camila helped Philip hand out the plates of food for the teens. “Not too long. Besides, we’re going shopping for clothes for you guys.” Luz stated.

Camila brought them all to a clothing store to try on different clothes to see what they liked. Philip mostly just browses around the racks for any clothes that might be good for Hunter. Gus, Willow and Amity came out of the changing rooms with new clothes on. Camila and Luz liked the outfits they picked out including Vee’s new look after she shifted out of her Luz disguise. All that was left was Hunter and he was taking his sweet time. Until he came out in a Red Cardinal onesie that looked identical to Flapjack.

It took almost all of Philip’s willpower not to laugh at how Hunter looked. “Hunter, what are you wearing?” Philip asked.

“I’m a Red Cardinal. With a dark side.” Hunter answered.

Philip chuckled at his response. They did get the onesie along with a few nornal clothes for Hunter to wear when the fall rolls around. When they all returned home, Camila said that she had a surprise for the kids. She left the living room for a moment then she returned with a box in her hand. She then pulled six vaccination shots for the kids to boost their immued systems. The kids screamed in fear since they were terrifed of needles. King just snickered “Man I’d hate to be your guys.”

Camila suddenly picked King up “I also have pet versions for you as well. And just for that remark, you get to go first.” Camila stated.

King freaked out and wriggled out of Camila’s grip and ran away to find a place to hide. Hunter volunteered to go find King while the others get their shots. He ran out of the living room faster than a bullet before Philip or Camila could say a word. Hunter ran downstairs and found King hiding in his sleeping bag. “I’m not doing it! You can’t make me!” King shouted.

“Who said I was gonna take you to Camila? I need to hide too. I am not getting pricked with a needle. But we need a better hiding place.” Hunter stated.

King suggested that they hid in that old shack so they quietly snuck out of the house and ran for the shack. Once they thought they were in the clear, Hunter opened the door but Philip was standing in the doorway. “What? But how?”

“Hunter, if you were planning on sneaking out, try doing it without letting me hear your footsteps.” Philip stated.

Philip dragged Hunter and King back into the house to get their shots. They were not too happy about it.

Notes:

I saw the final episode of the Owl House and I thought it was an epic conclusion. Although I wish the season was a little longer. Like some adventures that Luz and herr friends had in the Human World.

Chapter 4: Little Writers Block

Chapter Text

I need a little extra help. I'm trying to come up with a few more adventures for the Hexside gang to get into in the human realm before getting to the Thanks To Them part. IF you guys have any ideas, let me know in the comments below. Thanks.

Chapter 5: Coming out

Chapter Text

Luz wanted to tell her mom that she and Amity are dating but she wasn’t sure how. For the past few days, Luz and Amity have been doing couple-like things when Camila would walk by. The two would snuggle on the couch or feed each other or even kiss. Camila didn’t seem to mind it since she knows that Luz will tell her eventually. Luz suddenly got the perfect idea to tell Camila, a video presentation. Amity even offered to help with the video since she was nervous about making a good impression for Camila.

Philip watched Luz and Amity working on the video which kind of reminded him of his first relationship. When Luz finished the video, she showed it to her mom as a way to say that she is bi. Camila was so happy for her daughter and even welcomed Amity into the family. Gus even celebrated by using his magic to make copies of himself waving bi pride flags. While Philip was happy for them, he was still confused about it.

"Why was it such a big deal that Luz came out? I mean, as long as she's happy, should it matter? I know that sounds bad but I'm generally wondering." Philip asked Camila.

"It's a big deal because when a kid comes out, they're letting themself be valuable by letting people know who they are and who they love. And that takes a lot of courage to do. And some kids don't do that because of homelife, or viewpoints people have. So, when Luz came out, I want to make her know that I support her and that I'm happy for her. I know you grew up with different beliefs.” Camila explained.

“Well, not exactly. I fell in love with one of the Coven Head Witches when I was raising Hunter. Adrian Gray.” Philip answered.

Luz, Amity, and King overheard what Philip had said and they were curious about it. Luz mostly wanted to hear more baby Hunter stories from Philip. Even Willow, Vee and Gus were interested too, though Hunter wanted to crawl into a hole and not be embarrassed.

(Flashback to 16 years ago.)

After the death of Jasper and his wife, Philip took baby Hunter in as his ward and nephew. The potions he took kept his brother Caleb silent and the curse too. Except Philip had no clue how to care for a baby. He cleared out one of the rooms to convert into a nursery for Hunter. Throughout the first week, Philip had to deal with balancing his duties as emperor and taking care of Hunter. He had to deal with food being spat in his face, tireless nights, number of diaper changes, and endless screaming.

Poor Philip would show up at meetings with bags under his eyes or fall asleep in them. He tried hiring scouts to babysit Hunter, but they would always dump the baby back in his arms because he wouldn’t stop crying. The only person Hunter was comfortable with was his uncle. During one of the coven meetings, Philip had to end it early because the final scout quit babysitting Hunter. Right when Philip left the meeting, Adrian Gray decided to follow him.

Adrian could hear the cries of a baby coming from the nursery. He opened the door to the nursery to find Philip bouncing the baby, trying to get him to calm down. Philip turned around to see Adrian standing there. “Need some help?” Adrian asked.

Adrian took Hunter from him then he started making small little illusions that got Hunter to stop crying in an instant. Philip just stood there, stunned. “What? How? Hunter doesn’t let anyone but me hold him.” Philip stated.

“He just needed to know that he was safe. It’s been a week since the incident, and I guess he was afraid of thinking you would disappear.” Adrian explained.

Philip thanked Adrian for the help, and he even offered him a position to help take care of Hunter. Adrian took the offer and from that day, he was the only person that could care for Hunter. Philip had feelings for Adrian ever since then too. When Hunter started learning to speak, he started calling Adrian, Mama.

“Hold on. You called Adrian Gray, the Head of the Illusion Coven, the same guy that gave you a sigil, Mama?” Gus asked.

Hunter’s face and ears turned bright red. “I don’t know. Maybe? I don’t remember.” Hunter stated.

After the story, everyone left the room minus Hunter and Philip. Hunter asked his uncle if Adrian really did know about the curse and Caleb. Philip told him that he told Adrian about the curse a few weeks when they were dating. He didn’t judge Philip for being cursed, in fact he wanted to help him control it. “Then why don’t I remember him being so nice? He’s the one who gave me the sigil in the first place.” Hunter asked.

“Hunter, I’m sure Adrian had a good reason. But he does love you.” Philip stated.

Chapter 6: The Crazy Museum Guy

Chapter Text

With Luz and Camila out of the house, all the witches, Philip, Vee, and King were stuck in the house by themselves. Gus, Willow, Amity, and Vee went out into that old house and decided to fix it up a bit. King was down in the basement playing with some of Luz's old stuffed animals and missing Eda so much. Philip had slowly adjusted to the modern world, but he wasn't ready to go out into Gravefield and explore. He was making lunch when Hunter walked into the kitchen wearing a beanie that covered the tips of his ears.

He wanted to go out into town and explore for a bit. Philip immediately turned down the idea, he was afraid that someone might see Hunter's ears or Flapjack and freak out. Hunter begged and pleaded with his uncle, but his mind was already made up. Hunter was sick and tired of his uncle treating him like a little kid, he was sixteen and he could take care of himself. Hunter marched downstairs to the basement and plopped himself onto the couch and pouted. King walked up to Hunter with a stuffed animal in his hand.

"What's with you?" King asked.

"Just wanting to explore the Human Realm but my uncle still thinks of me as a child and won't let me." Hunter complained, "I mean, come on, Luz explored the Demon Realm on her own."

"Yeah, and she almost got eaten or captured on a daily basis. But what you need is someone to watch your back, like me."

Hunter wasn't sure if taking King along would be such a good idea, but it would prove his uncle that he wasn't a little kid anymore. So, he let King crawl into his bag then he waited till his uncle left the house to get the others for lunch. Once the coast was clear, he dashed out the door and headed for the town. He made sure that his hat fully covered his ears then he decided to walk around the park. He spotted two statues that looked a lot like his uncle and himself or Caleb. He thought the statues were a little too much over two guys that disappeared into a new realm.

King poked out of the bag to look at the statue then he had a mischievous grin on his face. He took out a red marker then he jumped out and started scribbling all over Caleb's statue. Hunter quickly grabbed King before anyone could see him then he ran before anyone could see him. "King, what were you thinking?!" Hunter asked, furiously.

"Hey. That guy is the reason we're away from home. I thought a little payback would be perfect. Plus, Eda would have done the same thing." King stated.

Hunter just gave him a glare then King went back into the bag. He made sure that no one saw King before going into town to try and find something to eat. He spotted a cafe called Robin's Roast and figured that they might have something good to eat. Luz already explained the different money that the human world uses instead of snails. Thankfully Hunter managed to grab a few bucks before leaving the house. When he got inside, he spotted a man with glasses leaving papers on the counter before making a run for the door. He bumped into Hunter before he ran away.

Hunter looked a little offended that the guy didn't even apologize for bumping into him. Hunter walked up to the counter, but he accidentally crashed into a woman carrying a tray of food. Some of the plates slipped from the woman's hand and fell to the floor. Hunter apologized to the woman and even offered to help clean up the mess. The woman thanked him as the two of them cleaned up the mess together. The woman even gave Hunter two croissants; Hunter offered to pay for them, but the woman said that it was a thank you for helping her.

Hunter left the cafe waving goodbye to the woman and sat on a park bench. He gave King one of the croissants which he really liked. When he finished his little snack, he spotted the Gravesfield Historical Society and he wanted to check it out. That place might have some history about his uncle and Caleb. Hunter walked inside and headed for the museum part of the building which had facts and artifacts from the 1600s. Some of the museum facts talked about the witch trials that had happened in the 1600s.

He noticed one of the exhibits had the old Golden Guard sigil which kind of scared him knowing the pain it caused his family. Suddenly, he felt someone touch him on the shoulder, he jumped and turned around to see the same guy that had bumped into him at the cafe. The guy introduced himself as Jacob the curator to the historical society. For some reason, he made Hunter feel uncomfortable; especially when he would tell Hunter that he kind of looked like Caleb. He tried to get Jacob to change the subject, but the guy wasn't giving up.

Hunter kept walking around the museum trying to get away from Jacob, but the guy was stuck to Hunter like gum. He would ask Hunter questions about where he was from, who his family was, if he had ever seen a real witch. Hunter got annoyed and tried to leave the building, but Jacob grabbed his arm, gripping him tight. “What are you doing? Let go of me!” Hunter shouted.

“You’re not going anywhere until I get some answers, Caleb.” Jacob stated.

Hunter’s face turned pale white, this crazy guy thought he was Caleb. He tried to tell Jacob that he got the wrong guy, but he wasn’t listening. He ripped Hunter’s bag off and threw it on the floor before he dragged Hunter into his office. Hunter was speechless with what he saw, this guy had photos of Eda when she came to the human realm, different tools, books on witches, and even old camera footage of Vee in her basilisk form. Jacob claimed that he knew the truth about the demon realm and that Hunter was the key. Hunter told the guy that he was crazy and made a run for the door.

But Jacob grabbed him then threw him onto the floor “You’re not going anywhere until I get some answers!” he threatened.

King overheard everything, then he immediately ran outside to head back to Luz’s house. Suddenly a car pulled up and out came Camila and Philip who noticed King. “How did you guys find us?” King asked.

“After what happened with Vee, I had a hunch.” Camila answered.

Philip asked King where Hunter was. King told Philip everything and he had never seen Philip look so angry. He told King to wait in the car then he marched inside with Camila. They opened the door to Jacob’s office to find him holding a knife over Hunter who was tied up in a chair. Philip went full mama bear and punched Jacob right in the nose. “Stay away from my child!” he screamed.

He untied Hunter from the chair who was shaking like a leaf. Camila gave Jacob one final smack across the face with her shoe before leading Hunter to the car. The whole ride home was silent. When they got inside the house, Camila told Philip that he and Hunter could use her room for the night. Philip wanted to turn her down, but Camila insisted. Philip took Hunter upstairs to Camila’s room, Hunter tried to apologize to his uncle for sneaking out, but Philip wasn’t having it.

He was so scared and worried when Hunter left the house, he thought Hunter had been kidnapped or worse. “Maybe if you hadn’t treated me like a little kid.” Hunter mumbled.

“Hunter, you’ve never been to the human realm. What if someone saw you using magic, or they saw your ears? Do you know what could have happened? And that museum guy, he was about to hurt you! After this stunt, you are not to leave this house without my permission. You’re staying with me so I can keep an eye on you.” Philip stated.

Hunter protested that it wasn’t even fair, but Philip had made up his mind. Hunter got so mad that he stormed out of the room and headed straight for the bathroom. He looked in the mirror and his reflection in the mirror was Caleb smirking at him. Hunter backed away in a panic but when he looked in the mirror again, it was just his own reflection. Hunter started to see his hair had gotten longer which made him sort of look like Caleb. He rummaged through the cabin until he found a pair of scissors then started cutting his hair.

Philip got a little worried when Hunter didn’t come out of the bathroom after his little tantrum. Philip knocked on the door and asked Hunter if everything was alright. He heard clutter coming from the bathroom and he got a little concerned. When he opened the door, he saw Hunter with a terrible haircut and scissors in his hand. Hunter looked up at his uncle, frozen like an antelope in the headlights realizing that he had been caught. Philip chuckled a bit, remembering Hunter had done this before when he was younger.

“You know, if you wanted a haircut, you could have just told me. What did you use, a knife?” Philip jokes.

“It’s not that funny. I thought I could handle it. I didn’t want to look like Caleb anymore. I just felt so uncomfortable.” Hunter explained.

Philip took the scissors from Hunter then he gestured to Hunter to sit on the toilet as he tried fixing Hunter’s messy hair. The two were silent for a while until Philip broke it. “I know you're mad at me, Owlet. But you have to understand, I grew up in a time where people would get accused of being witches. So, I worry what if someone might try to harm you. I know you're growing up but after everything that happened, I can’t help but feel guilty.” he stated.

“No, I overreacted. I understand that you were just looking out for me. I’m just making things difficult for you.” Hunter spoke, sadly.

Philip finished cutting Hunter’s hair giving him a short hair look then he put the scissors down and hugged his nephew tight. He told Hunter that he didn’t make things difficult.

Chapter 7: Up for Adoption

Just let me know in the comments, and you can adopt the series and maybe improve the writing a bit, because this was in my old writing style from high school.
