It’s been a few years since Leo has been in a relationship which although he doesn’t mind it, he sometimes misses the warmth of a body pressing against his own. Hugging him from behind or just plain old cuddling and while he does get a lot of love from his argentinean teammates it’s just not the same. Not to say that it’s worse, it's just different.

La scalonetas hotel was still in high spirits after their win against the netherlands yet their captain still sat by himself on a seat. The team kept shooting worried looks at him until Julian finally dared to ask him. “Everything ok capi?”, at the sound of another voice Leo slowly looked up. “Qué?” “Are you alright Capi”, the younger asked again. “Oh, yes yes I’m fine of course.” Juli still didn’t seem convinced but decided to give in “If you say so, but we’re here if you need us alright” The others who had joined nodded and agreed.
“It’s Christiano isn’t it?”, Kun asked from the back. As Leo agreed, Sergios' face darkened. “I’m telling you, you should just forget him, he doesn’t deserve your thoughts after what he did”
The younger members looked confused at that while the older ones agreed silently.
Seeing that his captain wasn’t in the mood to talk, Angel ushered the team to bed with the excuse that ‘it’s late anyway and they should always be well rested’
“You can tell them you know? I trust them” Leo whispered. “Are you sure? You don’t have to Leo.” “I’m sure Kuni they deserve to know why their captain doesn’t celebrate with them”
“Alright if you want me to. Make sure that you get some sleep Leo” with that Kun also left and went to the bedroom which they all shared.
As he opened the door he was immediately bombarded with questions. “Is Capi alright?” “What did you mean with Christiano” “Christiano as in Ronaldo??” “You're making me feel old, alright one after the other. Yes Leo will be alright and yes Christiano as in CR7. As Leo asked me to do so I will tell you the whole story. So huddle closer children as this will be a long night”

The day Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi first met was a special one. Two young stars destined to be the greatest. It was a destiny written in the stars. As they shook hands before the match it was unlike anything Leo ever felt before and as their eyes met each other Leo knew that he had met his soulmate. When his mark showed the name christiano for the first time he never would have guessed that it would be this christiano but in this moment he just knew it was. Soulmates didn’t appear often so when he got his mark he was ecstatic.
Later that year when Cris told him that he would join Real Madrid Leo was so happy he jumped into Cris’ arms as soon as he arrived. All of a sudden it didn’t matter that Cris didn’t have a mark that said Leo on it because he came to play in Spain with him, for him.

“You’re leaving?”, was the first thing Leo said to his supposed soulmate as said soulmate opened his door. “Yes,” he said with seemingly no regret. “Why? W- was I not enough for you? Don't you love me anymore?”. “Of course not”, Cris sneered. “I never loved you, it was all just for convenience. Now leave me alone.” he closed the door effectively shutting Leo out.
Leo’s heart broke at that because Cris was his soulmate, wasn’t he supposed to love Leo even if no one else did? Was something wrong with him, that even his soulmate couldn’t love him, all of those thoughts went through Leo’s head as he stood out in the cold drenched to his skin as it had started raining.
As he read the news a few weeks later he couldn’t believe his eyes. ‘Ronaldo tells his fans that he has a soulmate tattoo with the name of his current girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez’.
Leo didn’t leave his room for weeks after that. It got to the point that Luis had to cook for him and feed him. Kun tried to book a flight back immediately after Luis told him about how Leo’s doing but he had some important matches coming up so he couldn’t.
Although the pain never lessened, it got easier with him receiving support from both the barcelona team and la scaloneta.

After the story was done multiple members of the team were crying. All of them were incredibly saddened by what happened to their captain.
“I can’t even imagine having a soulmate and even finding him just to lose him”, Julian whispered, cuddling closer to Enzo who pulled him into his arms.
“Remember I didn’t tell you this so that you could pity him but so you could understand what is going on in his head and try to help him.” Kun said seriously.
“But still losing one's soulmate like that? I don’t think I’d ever be able to recover” Paulo muttered.
None of them noticed that Leo had come into the room until they heard his broken voice. “Out of 8 billion people I really fell for the one who could never love me back, huh” he said with a dark chuckle.
