Sanji woke up to heaven.

The moment he opened his eyes, he was greeted with a not-so-peacefully slumbering Lucy mere centimeters away from his face. She was so close he could count the freckles that dusted her cheeks. Her mouth was parted as loud snores escaped her and she was very clearly drooling onto her pillow. Her leg had been thrown over his, hooking around his calf.

This was it. This was how Sanji wanted to spend every morning of the rest of his life. She was perfect.

He frowned, though, as he spotted the bruises near her mouth and her split lip, anger daring to rear its ugly head. How fucking dare Bellamy mar her perfect skin. Sabo had been right; they did look like they hurt.

That was part of the reason Sanji was up so early. He couldn't escape the images of that brute grabbing her, forcing his mouth on hers. Reveling in knowing that she couldn't escape him, taking pleasure in bruising her. How fucked up did the guy have to be to attack a girl so goddamn small? Delicate Lucy was far from, but she was still tiny even compared to the other girls in the school.

Lucy's face suddenly scrunched, and her long eyelashes fluttered. "Sanji?" she murmured quietly.

His rage was swiftly replaced with adoration. "Good morning, my love," he cooed softly. If Ace or Sabo woke up and looked in here, he was dead. Friendly to him Ace might be, even he wouldn't be happy with them sleeping so close. Alas, that was a risk he would have to take. "How do you feel?"

She shrugged, shuffling a little closer to him so that she was settled against his neck. He immediately noticed how cold she seemed and brought her in close. "Hungry," she admitted.

Sanji chuckled, poking her soft cheek. "You're always hungry," he remarked fondly. As much as he had yelled at Luffy for eating their rations, he had loved how much his captain enjoyed his food. After Whole Cake, he had cooked all of Luffy's favorites in an attempt to apologize. "If it's alright with your brothers, I'll make breakfast as soon as everyone wakes up."

Lucy's dark, sleepy eyes lit up. "Really?"

"Anything for you, darling." And Sanji meant it. He would find a way to give her the stars if she asked.

She smiled at him before it fell again. "The way Bellamy kissed me... hurt," she admitted, subconsciously rubbing at her mouth.

He winced, torn between the hatred he felt for that brute and the sorrow he felt for her. "I'm so sorry, Lucy," he said, but he knew those words meant nothing. She was hurt in a way no one really knew how to fix, least of all him.

"Hancock didn't kiss like that," Lucy continued thoughtfully.

Sanji raised an eyebrow. "She kissed you?" he asked mildly. That didn't surprise him. Boa seemed infatuated with Luffy in his world too. That had never bothered him, though. For one, Luffy had been completely oblivious. For another, he simply didn't feel the same jealousy towards women who liked Luffy (and Lucy) that he did with men.

With Zoro and Law (he didn't care what anyone said, Law had been completely enamored with Luffy even if he would die before admitting it), they irritated the fuck out of him. He hated how close Luffy was to them. With women, like Boa, he didn't mind.

Sanji didn't know why that was, but if he had to guess it was because he wanted to be the number one man in his captain's life. Seas, he sounded pathetic.

Lucy nodded. "She gave me her dessert," she elaborated and he snorted. "It was soft and it kinda tickled. I guess that's how girls kiss." Her nose wrinkled in disgust. "Do all guys kiss like Bellamy? I don't think I wanna kiss guys if they do."

She might as well have punched him in the gut. Sanji blanched, quickly shaking his head. "No, of course not!" he insisted. "Lucy, Bellamy is an animal. A true man will kiss you with the affection and passion you deserve." He reached up to tuck a black lock of hair behind her ear.

Lucy blushed. "Will you... show me?" she asked, uncertain. She didn't meet his eyes.

He froze, trying to comprehend what she was asking him. "You want me... to kiss you?" he asked. He wondered if she knew she had just given him a mini heart attack.

She shrugged. "If you wanna," she clarified shyly. Adorable.

Sanji took a deep, calming breath in an attempt to get his emotions under control. He gave Lucy what he hoped was a reassuring smile. "Well, who am I to deny the whims of such a lovely lady?" As gently as he possibly could, he placed his lips on hers.

They were soft, other than the split in her upper lip. Sanji began with a few soft pecks to her mouth, easing her into the process. He moved one hand to the back of her head, urging her as close to his body as she could. His other arm tightened around her waist to keep her firmly against him. She trembled under his touch, but leaned into it, reciprocating as best she could.

It was clumsy, but Sanji didn't mind. He was all too happy to take the lead.

Slowly, carefully, he swiped his tongue against her bottom lip. Lucy whimpered a little, but obligingly opened her mouth. He wasn't a savage; he wasn't going to shove his tongue down her throat. No, he took his time carefully exploring her warm cavern. He prodded gently at her tongue, urging her to do the same. And she did, at least as well as she could. He caressed every bit of her he possibly could, savoring her taste and committing it to memory.

Sanji could have stayed like that forever, but unfortunately, air was still a necessity. He reluctantly parted from the girl, pressing a few chastise kisses to her mouth before separating completely.

Lucy looked at him with flushed cheeks and dazed eyes. He watched as her pink tongue darted out across her lips. Her mouth curved into a grin. "Sanji tastes good," she told him with a nod of confirmation to herself.

She was going to kill him. Sanji smiled as he tracked the movement, though he felt himself warm in arousal at her carefree words. "Nothing compared to you," he said honestly. There was one glaring difference between Luffy and Lucy, he had found; Lucy loved sweets. Luffy had too, but not nearly on the same level. Meat was still her favorite, but he could taste an overwhelming sense of chocolate from her.

Delicious.

"Was that better?" he asked, wisely choosing not to voice his thoughts.

Lucy nodded enthusiastically. "Uh-huh, I liked it a lot!" she answered, dark eyes eager. "Felt good. Can we do it again?"

Sanji tried (and failed) not to feel smug. "I'll kiss you whenever you want," he promised, thumbing her pretty freckles. He didn't care how many kisses it took, he would show Lucy how she was supposed to be loved. Even if he wasn't the one for her in the end.

A murderous aura suddenly emerged from the threshold of her room. "You will, will you?"

Sanji swallowed, sure both lives flashed before his eyes as he met the gaze of a very pissed off Sabo. The room went silent, nothing audible but the shitty swordsman's snoring (fucking useless piece of shit). But Lucy was undeterred. "Hi, Sabo!" she greeted, sitting up. "Sanji just taught me how to kiss! Isn't that cool?"

Somehow, that just pissed the other blond off more. "Did he now?" he asked, locking eyes with Sanji. Those eyes promised retribution, swearing that he would die a very painful end.

Well, if he had to die twice at least both times were in the name of his captain.

Notes:

Getting just a little spicy now... Smut will maybe come around chapter 20. Hypothetically, would you guys want Lucy's first time to be with Zoro, Sanji, or both? Initially I was gonna have it be both, but idk anymore if that's as realistic as I want it.

Side note: don't fucking ask me why I give Sanji all the emotional chapters. I like Zoro better, but something about Sanji's bleeding heart is just easier to write I guess.
