After Pedro's sacrifice, two houses appeared. One Light on the top of the hill and one Dark deep in jungle on the other side of the river. Rumour spread that each gifted family member had a counterpart. Or that it was inhabited by half man, half jaguar being that could steal your soul by saying your name. Some say that the Jaguar beast is what killed Bruno Madrigal all those years ago.
When her father is kidnapped by the Darkness, Mirabel discovers through Augustin's letters that not everything is as it seems, that the beast and the shadows have a nicer side and her uncle Bruno is alive but cursed somehow. What is her father not telling her?
