Chapter 1
(The Beginning)
The story of vampires is so twisted and altered through time that what is true or false is unknown to everybody except the Old Ones. As the story goes, they are the supposed first generation of vampires ever created.
The Old Ones seem like myths and legends, creatures so powerful and ruthless that they have to be not true-to-life, containing mostly powerful vampires, and the most influential of the group are the hybrids. The origin of Old Ones dates back 8,000 years when they were created through dark magic. To attain immortality, ashes from the white oak tree were used. At the same time, the ability to live was attributed to the rays of the sunbeams. Human blood was also a crucial ingredient in the creation of vampires.
The first hybrid, Mieczysław Winchester, combines a witch and a vampire. She is the youngest of the Winchester family and the most powerful of her siblings. Making her the deadliest between her and Dean; they always tried to see who was the strongest. After a while, it got tiring to compete with each other. Eventually, Mieczyslaw diverged from her brother to pursue something different. Adapting to the name Mischief because of her chaotic self or void the name of her more monsters side. Creatures associate her with a fox cunning, sly, beautiful, intelligent, resourceful, trickster.... liar, mischievous, stubborn.
Through the years, Mischief has met many creatures of various supernatural breeds, hunters, and humans. Lovers and Friends came and went for her, then in mid-1980, she met two kids, Noah and Claudia, 12 and 11, on the road between the states of Organ and Washington state. Seeing two dots a mile from her car, getting close, she sees a girl on the side of the road over what seems to be a young boy as well—coming to a stop and rolling down the window.
"You kids need any help?"
The girl picks up her head so fast you would think that her bone broke because of it.
"No, ma'am, we d-don't need an-any help."
"Are you sure is something wrong with umm?"
She looks up and down at me, and the boy before something in her eye tells me she has decided something.
"J-John, his name is John."
"Okay, what's wrong with John, then umm, kid."
"Claudia and I don't know; he just fell. He also has a fever, and he is making weird sounds."
Walking closer to Claudia, I can tell she is about to panic. Soon standing in front of her and crouching in front of the two kids, I could tell that the boy was breathing harshly from his smell. He is probably sick with influenza.
"I think he sick. How long have you guys been out here? Where are your parents? We need to take him to the hospital."
"NO, w-we can't take him to the hospital, or we will have to go back. Please, we can't go back." Her eye started to shine with unshed tears, and her lips began to quiver.
"Okay, Okay where can you not go back, sweetie."
"Okay then, I won't take you back, but Claudia John needs a hospital. He sick."
Fat tears rolled down her face, but she knew I was right about a hospital. Nobbing her head, I reach over to pick up the young boy. Walking back to the car, Claudia opened the backdoor, and I gently put John across the seat, and Claudia picked up John's head so she could slide in and put his head back on her lap. The Next town was under two hours to drive through the city. I found a sign where it would lead me to the hospital. Finding a parking spot and entering the hospital sits John in a chair. Claudia sits beside him, keeping him upright, walking to the women up front. Clearing my throat to get the women's attention, I did it again when she didn't look up, and this time it worked—looking up at me with an annoyed look.
"What Do You Want."
Taken back by the woman's words, and clench my teeth to keep from snarling at the woman.
"Well, miss, I have a young man Who is sick with a fever and has yet to wake up."
"Is the kid yours?"
As I looked at her badge on her uniform, the woman Karen said in a bored tone and typed something in the box computer with some long red acrylic nails.
" No, he's not mine. I found him and a girl on the side of the road with him having a bad fever."
"Okay, we can help you, but we must call children's services to see if they have a family."
I feel my jaw clench at the women's words. Not over excited about leaving these kids with children's services and then properly back with abusive parents. Making a final decision, I return to the kid and pick up John again. Claudia Getting up too, I walk Back to the woman and grab her attention. When She looks back at me, I let my eye dilate as the compulsion comes through. Luckily there was no one there in the little hospital.
"When we Leave through the door, you will forget that we were ever here."
"When you leave through the door, I will forget you were ever here."
Nobbing my head and Turning around, I walked through the front door and back to the car, put John back in the back seat Claudia jumped back in as well. Starting the car and driving out of the hospital was a few minutes later before Claudia spoke up.
"What are we going now if not the hospital" Her voice was irritated, if not angry.
Looking at her through the rearview mirror and then back down the road, I contemplate what to do.
"I'll get a motel so you can rest. I know a way to get John better than any hospital."
Nobbing her head and excepting my word, she rests her head against the window. I wonder why she trusts me so much, a total stranger who can kill her and John in under a minute.
Pulling in front of a motel, I turn around toward Claudia and look straight into her eyes.
"Stay here. I will be back soon."
Not waiting for an answer, I exited the car and walked inside the motel. Walking to the counter, there was a young man who may be in there late 20s managing it.
"Hey, can I get a room with two beds?"
"Sure, would that be for one night or more?"
"No, Just for this night."
"Okay, That will be 50 dollars."
