Work Text:
Aiya was someone who was supposed to be strong. She had a younger sister so, of course, she was supposed to be an example for her to look to.
( She was a horrible role model.. )
However, ever since Aiya moved out, she hasn’t seen her family once. Her parents have been… negligent over the years. But when Aiya finally became the legal age to take her sister away from them, she disappeared. Gone. Her sister was declared missing.
So, reluctantly, Aiya moved on. She has a job that she wouldn’t trade for anything, she was a fashion advisor for a pro hero. She adored her job.
Then, one day when Aiya had a long shift at work, there was a knock on the door. It, in itself, wasn’t unusual, yet it still unsettled Aiya. It was too late for salesmen or neighbors needing help, and she also wasn’t expecting anyone either.
Slowly, ever so slowly, Aiya made her way to the door, making sure she was as silent as silent can be. Thanking her landlord in her head for the installation of peepholes, Aiya took a look at who was at her doorstep.
As soon as she saw who it was, she swung her door open. There her little sister stood; soaked, bloodied, ragged, and dirty.
The next few hours were long in worry. Patching her sister up took a lot of time, a sad, long amount of time. Finally, though, her sister sat snug on the couch, curled up.
Aiya couldn’t help herself as she refused to ever let go of her sister. Both of them were seen hugging with a cocoon of blankets surrounding them.
“Are you alright? What made you come back? Who hurt you? Are you safe? Why did you run away like that? Are you thirsty? Do I need to grab anything? ”
Aiya exploded into questions when they were both settled. Her sister slowly shook her head, a clear sign she didn’t want to answer anything.
She lightly pushed her little sister’s head from her neck, “Do you want to stay with me?”
Her sister burst into tears.

Toga Himiko was a strange ( the meanies would say disturbed ) child. At the age of four she drank the blood of a dead bird. Her quirk had her craving the red liquid that everyone had underneath their skin.
Yet her parents thought the opposite of their middle child. It was horrifying and disgusting, Himiko’s behavior was. They taught her to fit in and to not for god sake put your fucking wrist in your mouth!
Ahem.
Regardless of their teachings, Himiko couldn’t take it one day. Her crush was just so cute, but it was like a masterpiece was missing just one important thing to become complete. It was maddening. Why couldn’t they see that he would look so much better in red!
So… she did exactly what any good artist would, finish their work. When she finally was done and looking down, she realized that maybe it would taste as good as it looked.
She took a straw ( she wasn’t ill mannered, her parents made sure of that ) and gently inserted it into his arm.
It…
It was just as you would think. It was absolutely delicious. She couldn’t believe it. This was here her whole life and what was she doing? Eating stale bread on the sofa? What a waste ! It was eye opening, and to think everyone had this… she had to have more. More. And more. Her stomach had to have more.
She could feel her face heat up as she continued gorging on this delicacy. The beauty of this was getting to her. It was like going on a date with the most cutest of boys and him taking her to the fanciest and best restaurant in the world.
It was addicting.
Of course, once she was satisfied, Himiko realized that she could not go back to her old life. A life where she was limited to disgusting food and figurative chains wrapped around her every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year SHE WAS GOING TO GO MAD!
So, she ran. Leaving everything behind, Toga Himiko couldn’t bring herself to care.
(Except her sister, Toga Aiya. She was struggling too. But her parents didn’t care about Aiya, too focused on Himiko. Every time Himiko curled up in a ball, crying, Aiya would be there. Her presence brought comfort in the greyscale world that Himiko lived in.
(Aiya was beautiful, with wavy blonde hair that framed her face perfectly. To her golden eyes that glimmered in the light with unshed tears as she held Himiko close. Aiya was always particular about how her body looked, making sure to go on diets or workouts to stay in shape. She was picture perfect. And Himiko loved her.
(Her older sister did her hair in the morning and taught her how to do messy buns. She helped her with homework. Aiya was on top of studies, an amazing student. Himiko strived to be like her sister, fitting in and cheerful… although, on some nights, Himiko could hear Aiya through the thin excuse of walls. She could hear the silent sniffles and choked up sobs. She loved her older sister. So it hurt just a little to leave. But neither of them would be leaving soon, even if Aiya was graduating high school, so she was just taking initiative… right?)
Toga Himiko left the greyscale world toward something of her own making, a place where she had the freedom to do what she wanted when she wanted where she wanted. She couldn’t care less about anything she was leaving behind. After all, it had no color.

The flocks of media swarmed the house. They wanted to know all about the accident where a high schooler got killed by a yandere. The yelling woke up the whole Toga house. It was only the following hours where the Toga parents and Aiya, the only kid old enough to be allowed on media, were confronting the reporters.
Question after question made Aiya’s head swim with words. However, through the muddled fog clouding her thoughts, one thing rang loud.
“Toga-shi, how do you feel about your daughter’s actions?”
“We are absolutely disgusted, but we cannot say we are surprised. When she was as young as a child she had shown these… traits that we tried to cull to the best of our efforts. However, a demon will stay a demon. And that, no matter our attempts to reform her, is not befitting of our family name.”
Everything else danced about in her skull, yet that interaction burned the back of her eyelids. Aiya wondered what her parents would do if they knew about her… would they disown her too?
“Toga-shi!”
Her eyes snapped to focus as the same reporter turned towards her. “I’m sorry, but may you repeat that again?”
“I said, how do you feel about your sister’s actions?”
And suddenly every eye was on her, burning her. They stared, waiting for any slip up. She could feel her parents waiting for the answer that they all practiced for. But.. she couldn’t bring herself to insult her sister. She couldn’t do it. She couldn’t, oh god, they’re staring. She knows, they know, they have too. Oh god, she’s going to hurl, she can’t take it. Why couldn’t he just understand the word ’no’?! And now everyone knows, they know what she did. She feels disgusting, her skin crawls like spiders are digging out of her skin. She’s gonna throw up!
Her father lays his hand in between her shoulder blades, “She’s just nervous, Aiya-chan here isn’t a fan of big crowds.” He presses her forwards. “I’m sure she’s okay with answering one question before she heads inside though.”
She takes a few deep breaths, “Um… Himiko-chan was troubled throughout her time. She is my sister and I love her, but… I cannot look past her taking another boy’s life. Saito-higaisha had a whole life ahead of him and a family of his own. As much as I love Himiko-chan, I do not condone any of this behavior. I offer my deepest condolences to Saito-higaisha’s family.”
Her father’s hand, which had gripped her shoulder, patted her on the back before returning, “Why don’t you head inside and make sure your siblings didn’t break anything?” Aiya’s fists uncurled at her side as her mouth set into a straight line. The pressure on her shoulder increased.
Aiya smiled softly, “Of course Otosan!”
As soon as the door closed Aiya clenched her hands into a fist again. She pushed her knuckles into her eyes, pushing as she felt the familiar sting of tears. He, oh god…
Aiya collapsed to the ground, knees thudding painfully against the wood. It took a bit to collect herself, but she managed.
She always manages.
-
“Himiko, are you alright?”
She grinned against the fabric of her older sister’s shirt. Though she just dug her head deeper into Aiya’s neck. Himiko breathed deep, reminiscing from before she left. She never regretted it.
Although the recent scuffle had her a little dazed, thinking of her family. So, she made the stupid decision of getting Giran to get her Aiya’s address. Dammit, now she owes that sleazebag.
The arms around Himiko tightened, and her grin only got wider.
Oh, how sweet her older sister is. She’s just perfect and beautiful and cute .
Toga Himiko couldn’t wait. Her sister was a masterpiece just waiting to be. And she would only be helping by bringing out her full potential.
“Do you want anything special for dinner? Speaking of which, is your favorite food still beef yakitori?” Her so sweet sister asks as she heads to the kitchen after making sure Himiko was all comfortable in the cocoon of blankets.
She wonders.. will Aiya’s blood be as sweet as her?
Only one way to find out.
