Legends, stories scattered through time mankind has grown quite fond of recounting tales of heroes and villains and this is the story of whom many would say is the greatest of heroes, but her journey was a long one so let us start at the beginning
Piper Parker wanted to become a huntress, it's what she wanted to do since she was little but as fate would have it little Pip took after her scientist father much more than her heroic huntress mother, being all brains and no brawn wasn't so bad on a regular day but right now she was combat arena of Pharos Academy going up against Flash Thompson the strongest guy in her class, everyone knew Flash was going to get into Beacon easily, hell he'll probably end up leading his own team, Piper shuddered at the thought of having Flash as a teammate she wouldn't curse that fate on her worst enemy.
"Get your head in the game Parker!" Yelled a blonde girl from the sidelines, this was, of course, Gwen Stacy half the reason Pip was still in Combat school was because of the extra training she got from Gwen, Pip snapped out of her mid-fight daydream only to be met with the sharp end of Flash's minigun axe sending her flying across the arena, luckily Piper's aura shielded her from most of the damage but she still shook a little as she got to her feet, Flash was strong no scratch that Flash was crazy strong but he was pretty slow, something Pip knew she had to take advantage of, she took a deep breath and steadied her nerves soon Pip's vision went grayscale all except for a small part of Flashes knee that started glowing red, Pip smirked as she aimed her dagger pistols and let off two shots at the boys left knee the first shot broke off a piece of his armour followed by the second shot hitting the exposed knee causing the boy to trip, piper used this opportunity to run up to Flash and delivered a kick to his head
"Nice try puny Parker, but it's gonna take more than you've got to take me down" Flash smiled as he grabbed Piper by the arm and threw her over his head and across the room
"enough!" Yelled the voice of the instructor, he had never liked Pip mainly due to her snarky attitude, she had a feeling he put her up against Flash as punishment for talking back to him all these years
"You alright Pip" asked a red-headed boy as he helped Piper up from the ground, this was Harry Osborn local rich kid and the other Reason Pip hadn't been kicked out years ago
"Never better" Pip joked dusting herself off, "another minute and I'd have won", this got a chuckle from Gwen who had come down to join the two
"Another minute and you'd be spending the afternoon in the hospital" Gwen laughed
"Now come on birthday girl, we've got a surprise for you" Harry grind, Piper had almost forgotten it was her birthday after that hit from flash
The three friends were being led on a tour of the Oscorp tower, the green tower was the tallest building in Vale and had a state-of-the-art lab on every floor, Harry had pulled some strings with his dad and managed to get the three of them a private tour for Pip's birthday, the girl was ecstatic her green eyes twinkling at every piece of machinery the group passed, "this place is so cool!" Pip said as they passed one of the many labs
"told you she'd love it" Gwen laughed giving Harry a nudge on the arm
"yeah, yeah you were right" Harry grumbled, as the trio turned a corner they were knocked down as they got up they saw it was a balding elderly man wearing a lab coat, he had dropped a briefcase inside was several documents and a small metal cylinder that had become dislodged from its foam padding
"sorry sir, we weren't looking where we were going" Pip apologised as she helped the man to his feet and handed him his briefcase
"it's fine" the man spat quickly looking over his shoulder before rushing down the corridor leaving the teens to continue their tour
"what's that jerk's problem?" Gwen asked not liking the man's attitude
"that was Adrian Tombs, my dad's been running him ragged the past couple weeks he probably has a deadline to meet don't take it personally he usually can't shut up about his current projects, you'd get on great with him pip" Harry explained knowing that his father had recently grown dissatisfied with the slow progress on Tomb's projects
All of a sudden pip felt a sharp pain in her hand, looking down she saw a small black spider had bitten into her, instinctively Piper shook the bug off but the pain persisted and grew more intense the second, pip saw her friends ask if she was all right not that she heard a word of it over the ringing in her ears and the intense headache and then just as suddenly as it all started it stopped, "I'm fine now guys, how about we continue with the tour" pip smiled reassuringly that managed to somewhat convince Gwen and Harry
Later that day once Pip along with her aunt May and uncle Ben were sitting around their dinner table enjoying some birthday cake May had baked, "Happy birthday dear, oh where does the time go hard to believe you're 17 already, in just a couple months you'll be applying to Beacon" May exclaimed excitedly
"you know kid there's still time to put that big brain of yours to good use" Uncle Ben sighed he had always thought Pip would have better luck following in her father's footsteps rather than her mothers
"Ben you know you're wasting your time she's as stubborn as you are, once she's made up her mind" May laughed
As Piper was finishing up her cake she suddenly got a massive headache it felt like her head was gonna split open," I'm not feeling the best, I'm gonna lay down for a little bit" Pip said as she rushed up the stairs
"That's alright dear I'll make you a hot water bottle" May shouted up to her niece, Pip rushed into her room and as she closed the door she accidentally ripped the handle off, she tried dropping the handle but the thing was stuck to her hand somehow, "what the hell" she yelled in a panic as she tried desperately to shake the thing off her, the handle eventually dropped from her hand pip quickly and quietly fixed it back onto the door just before Aunt May came in with a hot water bottle, "are you ok Piper, I heard a lot of shouting and banging," the elderly woman asked
"yeah I'm fine Aunt May I um just stubbed my toe" Pip quickly lied not knowing how to explain what just happened to her
"shouldn't your Aura protect you from something like that?" May asked not fully understanding the powers huntsmen and huntresses use
"no, I didn't have it on haha" Pip continued the lie hoping that answer would satisfy May's curiosity, it was true she didn't have her aura up at the moment it's impractical to keep it up all the time but Huntsmen and huntresses are trained to bring it up when injured but May didn't know that
"Alright dear you get some rest now" May laughed as she shut the door
"Just what is happening to me" Pip talked to herself as she walked in circles on her bedroom roof "Over the past couple days I've developed super strength, the ability to walk on walls and some kind of weird sixth sense but how...THE SPIDER BITE!, all of this started after that bite, it's like my genes have been mixed with a spider's" Pip backflipped onto the floor landing in front of her computer where she pulled up a web page advertising an underground wrestling event, anyone who could stay in the ring for 5 minutes with the champion would win 300 lien, "I could use that prize money to upgrade my weapons, I need a costume to fit my theme that's what all the good wrestlers have right, I don't think I can make webs, bummer what kind of spider can't spin webs" Pip sighed as her eyes wandered over to her old chemistry set Uncle Ben bought her and suddenly an idea struck her
The venue was packed with contestants and spectators alike surrounding the arena, Pip signed in and was waiting for them to call her name, now that she was there she realised the costume was probably overkill she was the only person wearing one, she had made the costume out of some old fabric May had lying around in the basement it was a full body blue and red spandex suit it had black webbing on the red parts and a large black spider on the front, the mask had two yellowish lenses as eyes that pip thought looked pretty cool
in the arena, a girl and a man were fighting the girl looked about Piper's age and had extremely long and unruly blonde hair and the man was tall and muscular wearing wrestling shorts pip hoped the man would knock the girl out soon so she could get her shot at fighting the champ, but as soon as Pip thought this the big man went crashing to the ground, "And the champion prevails!" The announcer spoke over the loudspeaker as the girl celebrated "Yang Xiao Long is still the remaining champion could the next challenger make their way to the arena now introducing...crap dropped my notes, ...agh it's the Spider-woman you know who you are"
Pip leapt up into the ring seeing the girl do a couple of stretches, "So busty, blonde and dangerous, definitely not what I was expecting" she chuckled
"Well I definitely wasn't expecting to be fighting a reject Halloween costume" Yang scoffed, the bell rang and both girls charged at each other, Yang started with a right hook pip felt a tingling sensation around her head telling her to dodge the attack and its follow-ups, "stay still, you creepy little bug!"
"Spiders are arachnids actually" Pip laughed as she continued dodging her attacks before delivering an uppercut sending the girl tumbling back, Yang quickly got back up and charged at her but Pip front flipped over her roundhouse kicked her in the head causing her to be frown onto the edge of the ring where Piper used her web-shooters to trap the girl
"ha this is almost too easy", as Piper was prematurely celebrating a single blonde hair fell to the arena floor, all of a sudden Pip's spider-sense was blaring like crazy and as she turned to look at her webbed-up opponent she was met with a fist in her face followed by a shotgun blast from the girl's gauntlets sending Pip into the floor, as she got to her feet Piper could see that the girls hair was glowing and her eyes had turned red, "I don't need a sixth sense to know that's not good"
Yang was much faster now making it impossible for Pip to doge She hit Piper with a quick gut punch before knocking her over with an uppercut, "damn you hit like a truck, unfortunately for you, so do I" Pip stopped trying to dodge and focused on defence, Yang threw a punch and Pip caught it "lights out, blondie" she punched the girl in the face knocking her out.
"And the challenger prevails! With a win by knockout!" The announcer yelled as the crowd cheered
Later backstage pip was arguing with the event organisers "What do you mean I don't get the prize money, I won!"
"the deal was whoever can last 5 minutes wins the money, you got a knock out in 4, you're not getting a dime kid now scram"
"that's completely unfair and you know it!" Yang argued back, surprisingly she was on Piper's side despite everything
"Don't get uppity with me missy, you're outa here as well, losing to a complete nobody what a joke" the boss waved the young blonde girl away, Yang stormed off punching the wall on her way out leaving a sizeable hole, as Pip turned to leave not seeing any point in arguing anymore but as she was halfway down the hall a man with messy blonde hair rushed by pushing Pip aside followed quickly by security, Hey why'd you just let him get away!" The organiser yelled
"you told me to scram, that's what I'm doing, what happens here now is hardly my problem" Piper scoffed as she left the building
As soon as Pip turned onto her street she could tell something was wrong, there were police cars outside her house siren flashing her body ran before she could even think, she needed to know what happened she prayed everyone was safe, but as she got closer the grief on her aunt's face said it all, she could barely comprehend the next couple hours the officers explained how a robber had broken in thinking nobody was home, how her uncle died protecting May, and how the Robber fled the scene as soon as the shots were fired and how officers were already in pursuit
That night Piper couldn't sleep, she stayed up listening in on a hacked police frequency, she heard about a chase that had led to a warehouse not far from where she was, "it has to be him" she said to herself as she suited up so nobody would recognise her when she did what she was about to do "I'll make him pay" she jumped out her window and began swinging from building to building rushing to the warehouse hoping she could get to the man before the police could
The warehouse was dark Piper crawled along the ceiling right above the man who had just ripped her entire world apart she lowered herself down on a web line thinking of all the ways she could hurt this man, He hadn't noticed her until she grabbed his neck and slammed him against the wall, even through her mask the man could see the rage in her eyes, but as the light of the broken moon became uncovered by clouds flooding into the once dark warehouse pip could see the man's face, the man who had taken her uncle from her was non-other than the same crook she let run past her back at the arena, at this moment uncle Ben's motto repeated in her head "with great power, comes great responsibility". She knew what she needed to do, what Uncle Ben would have wanted her to do, she covered the man in webs and swung away letting the police take the man away, she watched from atop a lamppost as the police cars drove back into the city before swinging back home still thinking about her uncle's words
Over the next month, Piper put her new abilities to good use going out at night and stopping criminals, leaving them tied up in webs for the police to find, this got the attention of a certain man, he was a large bald man in a white suit, he was looking out at the city of Vale from his office in his tower, "You failed me once Tombs, most men wouldn't be so lucky to still be breathing"
"y... Yes sir I'm forever grateful for your mercy" the older man grovelled
"I asked you to use your position at Oscorp for my benefit and you couldn't even do that, now I'm asking you to simply squash a spider, Don't disappoint me again" the Kingpin said sternly as he threw a newspaper detailing the rumours of a Spider-woman the photo was blurry but Tombs knew what he was looking for
Piper was sitting in class listening to the teacher's lecture when she got a small tingle at the back of her neck startling her, "You ok pip". Asked Gwen sitting beside her,
"yeah, I'm fine". It had already been over a month since Ben passed away it some times didn't feel real like he'd be waiting for her at home when she got out of school, but then she realised this was reality and it was her fault her uncle wasn't alive
Gwen furrowed her brow, "look pip me and Harry are here for you if you wanna talk, you know you don't have to face this all by yourself"
Pip gave a weak smile, "Thanks Gwen I just miss him", just then Pip got a notification on her Scroll breaking news: man in mechanised flight suit causes major damage, pip knew this was a job for Spider-woman, "I need the bathroom" she yelled out as she ran out of class and ran down the hallway before slipping out through a window changing into her costume in a nearby bush before swinging of towards the danger
once she made it to downtown Vale the place was a war zone cars flipped over, and damage was done to nearby buildings it all led towards the city square "This looks like it was done for attention but why" Piper thought to herself as she swung round the corner into the square only to be hit out of the air mid swing, as she skidded to a stop on a nearby rooftop she saw her attacker an older man in an armoured suit with giant metal wings attached, "so what do they call you, the vulture?"Piper joked as she looked at the mechanical wings they looked like they held weapons, she didn't want to stick around and find out
"call me whatever you like child, it'll be your last words" The vulture's wings came alive as they morphed into two massive cannons, Piper's spider-sense went off like crazy as she dodged the blast from the twin cannons, as she rolled into a landing she ran towards her attacker before slingshotting herself at him landing a kick to his chest knocking him off the building, The Vulture activated his wings and sore up into the sky grabbing Pipper as he passed her, "you've messed with the wrong people little girl and don't take it personally it's just business" Tombs dropped Spidey as they rose above the Vale skyline sending her hurtling down to the ground
Piper didn't have much time to think as the ground rapidly approached her, "god I hope this works" she yelled out as shot web after web between two buildings building up a makeshift platform she fell threw with a crash, luckily her decent had slowed enough where she could web swing onto the side of a building that she proceeded to run up, "what thought you could get rid of me that easily birdbrain" Spidey laughed as she jumped onto the villain webbing up his wings causing him to crash onto the building below
Tombs laughed as he broke free of the webs, "You just don't know when to quit huh, but the thing about you heroic types is that you're just so darn predictable" His wings shifted into canon form again as he shot a blast at a nearby billboard causing it to come loose again begin falling towards the crowd bellow
Spidey jumped into action immediately, running off the side of the building using her webs to slingshot herself forward to get ahead of the falling billboard, she could see the crowd trying to scatter below her, so she launched herself off the side of the building swinging under the billboard wrapping it up in webbing stopping it only a couple metres before it hit the ground, "You guys alright?" Spidey poked her head out from atop the rubble seeing a young girl with dark hair and a red cape
"yeah I think everyone's ok, but who are you?" The hooded girl asked
Piper chucked "I'm just your friendly neighbourhood Spidey-woman" She gave a wave before swinging back up towards the vulture who was taking shots at her as she swung through the air, the hooded girl watched as Spider-woman gracefully dodged each shot getting closer and closer until she grabbed the older man threw him off the building and tearing off his wings as they fell
"I'll get you for this you b.." the vulture was cut off as Pipped webbed his mouth before throwing him over her head and slamming him into the webbed-up rubble catching him in the webs as well
Spidey let out a sigh of relief, "I think it's about time grandpa took a nap" Before she could probably celebrate her victory she heard the sirens of police cars approaching, Spidey rolled her eyes knowing the police really didn't like a masked vigilante doing their job so she swang away before things got hairy
The red hooded girl looked on as Vale's new hero performed acrobatics swinging from one building to the next, "so cool, I've gotta get her autograph next time" she said to herself before looking at the time on her scroll, "damnit I've gotta find a present for Yang soon, maybe I'll find something nice for her in a dust shop"
Piper had snuck her way back into school just as the bell marking the end of the day rang, as she made her way towards the front gate she found Gwen and Harry waiting for her, "hey guys what's up" she waved to her friends
the two gave her a confused look before Gwen broke the silence, "So...did you get in?" Her question was met with a look of confusion from Pip
"Did you get into Beacon or not, come on did you seriously forget that the conformation was being sent out today" Harry blurted out
Pipper blinked slowly she had completely forgotten she was meant to phone May as soon as she got the news, she quickly opened up her scroll and checked her inbox and sure enough the email was there

Piper almost couldn't believe it after all this time she was actually making it into Beacon, "I got in" Pip could barely contain her excitement
Gwen grabbed Pipper into a big bear hug, "finally all those extra training sessions paid off, i knew we'd all go to Beacon together
"It's gonna be one hell of a time having you around with us pip, if you ever need some refresher courses I'm always ready to help" Harry chuckled remembering the pitiful state Piper's fighting ability was in when they first met he could tell she's come a long way especially recently she's been doing way better than just a couple months ago
