really good cat story

Summary:

literally based off of something I thought of in fourth grade. but uhmm goes like this:

random cat thinks clans are kinda cool, gathers a bunch of other cats to go travel and start up their own clans. they dont know too much about clans, though! Oopsies!

Notes:

the first two chapters of this were written months ago, but I modified them a little so they are hopefully written better

Chapter Text

A calico sat in a tree, eyes wide and intently looking at the battle that was happening nearby. The cat was hidden so that those fighting didn't see, but the calico could see them fine enough.

Claws digging into pelts, ripping out fur and crimson blood. Stains of blood covered the ground and shrieks of pain were heard.

A cat bit into another's throat and blood gushed out, the cat screamed and slashed weakly at the other. But the other cat let go of their throat and kicked them down to the ground and managed to get their stomach revealed. They dug into their stomach, over and over. They lay on the ground, soaked in blood and patches of fur ripped out of them.

One white cat saw the other get killed and their world seemed to fall apart. They hissed and snarled, with their tail lashing wildly. They ran and tackled the killer, clawing wildly at their face. Other cats in the fight turned, some looking with sympathy, and others just looking because it was a loud sound the white cat made. But in the end, the others forgot about it in a few seconds.

That dead cat was probably the white cat's family. Or a close friend. But that didn't matter for the calico in the tree. It watched fascinated at what these wild cats were capable of. The cat grinned for a moment and then let their face rest as they proceeded to hop out of the tree and trot away. When far enough away from the vicious battle, everything seemed so calm. It was a sunny day with just the right amount of breeze, the rustling of leaves on the trees complimented the birds singing very well.

And even after just witnessing a horrible fight, after watching everything that went down within a random cats final moments, they feel peaceful.

Chapter 2

Notes:

I am not good at writing long chapters ... these will probably all be short.... idk how people write long chapters

Chapter Text

The cat.

Its name is Forest.

A she-cat calico with green eyes with dreams of joining one of those wild cat clans. But she knows they wouldn't just let her in.

I can catch a fish! I can kill a bird! I am probably capable of defeating other cats! But being good at living isn't going to let me just live in a clan. Maybe if I pray to.. Star cats? StarClan? StarClan! Yeah. Maybe if I pray to them I could get into one of the clans... Thoughts like these run through the wild cats head daily.

She continues trotting until she finally makes it to a desirable area to be: a peaceful river. But her stomach rumbles, and she knows she needs food. No enjoying the area until I can catch a fish! She crouches at the river and watches intently. Two minutes pass by and she's already bored of waiting to catch a fish. But just when Forest feels like she's just gonna give up and walk away, she spots a fish, unsuspecting of its upcoming doom. Forest raises a paw and unsheathes her claws, proceeding to quickly reach into the water and pull out the fish. She throws it onto the ground and watches it intently as it flails to death on the ground. Yum.

Forest picks up the fish carcass and moves it to a rock that's in a perfect, sunny spot that is comfortably warm. She takes a chomp into the fish. Fish isn't her favorite, her face makes an expression to show her dissatisfaction as she takes another bite into the fish. Whatever will keep me alive, I guess, she thinks with a slightly dramatic sigh.

A leaf crunches behind her. She whips her head around, eyes wide and mouth full of fish.

A patrol of clan cats. She knows she would probably get clawed to death—something Forest has very much seen them do—if she doesn't act right.

"Hey! Are you stealing OUR prey?" A small ginger hissed. She gulps down the fish in her mouth and blinks a lot. Forest is panicking, these cats can probably clearly tell from the fear scent and her overall uneasy look.

"Do you know about the clans? Prey in this river belongs to us... prey on this territory belongs to us." A different cat says, though a lot more calmly than the ginger one.

Forest panics even more. Many thoughts are racing through her head, such as, Should I run? and also Woah, clan cats, cool. She can feel herself tense up as she speaks without thinking for even a fraction of a second, "But— I caught this. You didn't mark this fish." Forest knows about the clans—she often dreams to be a clan cat!—and she does not know why she said this, regretting it before she even stopped speaking.

Now more thoughts are running through her head, I should've tried to talk my way into joining the clan! and Oh no, they're gonna rip out my throat at the end of this!

"But it's on OUR territory. That fish belongs to US." The small ginger snarled and took a step closer.

"But... I caught this fish! I-It's technically mine! Nobody said you owned this fish except yourselves, and you just showed up out of nowhere to say so, because you're greedy..." Forest doesn't even know what she's saying anymore, words pour out of her mouth without thought. She knows what she's doing is bad, but she's already dug her grave. "Uhm, please let me have this fish! I can go off of the territory, I can...".

The three cats eyes in front of her all noticeably flicker to the ginger and then back at her. The other one who spoke earlier flashed Forest what seemed to be a sympathetic look as the ginger cat snarled again, unsheathed their claws and then started to run towards her.

Forest enters her flight or fight response.

And in her panic, she lunged at her attacker and managed to get a clean slash the cats eye.

"FOXPAW!" One of the cats shout.

Trying to fight off the other cats is hard and probably impossible to do it successfully. They all have rushed to the ginger cats—Foxpaw's—aid. Forest kicks and scratches frantically, claws dig into her back and she can feel her own warm blood start dripping out of her. One of them bites her tail and she releases a loud screech and starts running away in a random direction away from the cats. She's completely forgotten about the fish and her hunger now; she was solely focused on getting away.

"Oh, why," she huffed to herself, "why are clan cats like this sometimes..."

Forest sprinted for about two more minutes before finally stopping to rest. She let out a long sigh, sat down under the shade of one of the many leafy trees around, and started licking at her stinging wounds. When she's done doing that, she lays down and closes her eyes and lets the sounds of the forest fill her mind. The variety of bird songs and bug sounds, the flapping of wings. She smiles and forgets about her pains, if only for a few seconds.

But as soon as it felt perfectly tranquil, a rustling disturbed everything. Something was running closer and closer and smaller animals were fleeing. Forest's eyes flew wide open, she jumped up and snarled, silently praying that it wasn't that small ginger cat and, well, the entire patrol.

"Woah! Are you okay, Forest?"

Chapter 3

Notes:

I'm awful about trying to stay in writing just past tense or just present tense, sorry

I am also sorry because I forgot about this story for a few weeks and I came back to finish this chapter at 3 am. I have no idea how this chapter was originally supposed to go.

Chapter Text

Forest calmed down and let her muscles relax when she saw who was in front of her before letting out a long sigh, "Yeah, I'm fine now, hopefully."

The cat stepped closer to Forest, "Fine now? Hopefully? Oh, the wounds all over you! Some are still bleeding! What happened? You have to tell m—"

"Quiet down for a second! I was going to tell you at some point, obviously."

The other cat blinked at her and then sat down. Forest did the same shortly thereafter. She let out another sigh, this one shorter than the previous.

"Blossom, you're so dramatic sometimes." Forest says.

"I'm not dramatic, you have scratches all over! Of course I'd freak out a little. Would you not freak out if you saw me on edge with scratches all over me?"

"I think you were kinda dramatic about it."

"But would y— nevermind. Anyways, what happened?"

"Well, I went to the river to go and get some fish. I caught a fish and then I went to go onto a rock to eat it. When I was eating I heard this sound behind me, like a crunch, and when I turned around and I saw a patrol of clan cats." Forest starts explaining.

Blossom had begun grooming her fluffy black and white fur when she started her explanation and looks up with surprised yellow eyes when clan cats were mentioned, "Wait, did you get into a fight with clan cats?" she adds on, "And like, you didn't get killed? I thought clan cats could kill anyone."

"Shh! I'm still telling what happened. But they told me that I couldn't have prey from their territory, and that included the river. Uhm, there was this little ginger cat that was furious at me for eating their prey or whatever, uhm, and then they ran at me and started attacking, so of course I attacked back, and then all of the other cat on the patrol went and attacked me too! I got away and I haven't seen any other cats except you since I escaped from them." Forest finishes explaining.

It takes a moment for Blossom to eventually process all of this, and when she does all she can do is let out a small "woah".

Time passes and Forest and Blossom simply just sit in silence as they take in the scenery for a short while. Blossom shuffles every now and then, glancing over at Forest, who seems to be paying to attention to her as she gazes up into the trees.

Blossom finally lets out a sigh, "As much as I think it's awesome that cats can live out here and be apart of a group to keep themselves alive, don't you think it'd, like, I don't know... be a lot?"

"Huh?" Forest replied with a confused expression on her face as she turned her face to Blossom.

"I mean, uhm, I think clan cats are really cool, and REALLY strong, but it seems like a lot to deal with, having to always live out in the wild and constantly be on edge of other cats. The humans—"

"Clan cats call them twolegs."

"Oh, okay. Well, the twolegs kinda provide a safe space for us cats, they feed us stuff and there's also never really that much harm that can come from other cats. Plus, they let us outside! We're basically, like, clan cats but with a much better guarantee that we live every day."

"What are you on about?" Forest asks with a small chuckle.

"Oh, am I rambling? I mean, it was just a thought that came to me because of you explaining what happened to you."

"Yeah, you might be rambling. Also, what's the point of living if there isn't any thrill?"

"What, the thrill of dying? Those cats are totally gonna die way sooner than any cat ever should because of themselves!"

"No, well, hmm..." She pondered what to say next. "I think that it's kind of lame the way we live, dependant off of twolegs. There's also experiences that clan cats have that we probably couldn't ever even dream of!"

"You're probably right, but I'd rather have my life."

"Don't assume that all clan cats just die days after birth!" Forest jumped up, startling Blossom. "A life would feel so long if it were as thrilling as those clan cats lives!! So much happening, wouldn't it be awesome? I could only barely imagine new stuff happening all of the time!"

"Wait, are you forgetting that those cats are the same ones who tried killing you over a fish earlier? A fish?"

"Obviously that stupid little cat was just a bad cat in general, they don't represent all clan cats!"

"Sorry, Forest, but I think you're being delusional right now. Why don't we just go home? And, like, preferably not get beat by any clan cats on the way." She suggests while getting up.

Forest stares into Blossom's soul for a few heartbeats too long, making Blossom nervously break eye contact and lick her paw. "Yeah, sure. We can go back," Forest starts to trot away and Blossom followed shortly after her, ending up walking side by side with Forest. "Did you really have to call me delusional, though?"

Chapter 4

Notes:

I'm back. haiii :3

I realize now that the last two chapters could've been just one chapter.

Chapter Text

Forest and Blossom got back to the neighborhood that they lived in around the time that the sun was starting to set. They walked around the outskirts of the neighborhood for around a half hour, disregarding the previous small argument. It was just a disagreement that didn't matter; friends can get over disagreements. For now, they just talked and talked.

They existed in a comfortable silence for a bit. The sky has turned into a sea of oranges and yellows.

Blossom hummed and looked up at the sky. "I should get going now, Forest."

"Oh. Okay. Bye, Blossom." Forest nuzzled Blossom against the cheek and Blossom did the same.

"Bye Forest. I'll see you tomorrow, probably." She gave a warm smile before trotting away.

Forest watches Blossom trot away with a sigh. Everything is so boring without someone to keep her company. Or if she's not hanging around in the forest. So, so boring.

Guess I'll go back home, she thinks. Or... maybe I'll walk around a little more.

So Forest walks around a little more around the neighborhood she could navigate without any of her senses. All of the twoleg homes that are kinda small, many overgrown plants, cracked stone walls and sidewalks, and bright and messy colours on covering some of the walls. All of this under the light of a sky full of warm colours, and air that was slightly cold.

Forest smiled a little. Even if it wasn't out in the forest with a bunch of other cats that she could basically call family, this neighborhood was still her home. She's lived here since forever. Knows it like the back of her paw. She knows most of the other cats that live here, too. Even if Blossom is the only one she's really ever became friends with. Some of the other cats are stuck inside all of the time, though. Their twolegs keep them trapped inside, which in Forest's opinion, is cruel. She makes up names for those cats. Like this one old and skinny tortoiseshell cat who's fur looks matted and is always staring out of the same window, she calls them Dust because they look ancient.

She walks around an hour. The traces of daytime have been removed. There's no twolegs, barking dogs, or any colour in the sky besides the vast dark blue speckled with white stars. It's colder now, too. Forest shivers a bit. I guess now would be a reasonable time to go back home

She begins her way back home briskly, but is soon stopped in her tracks by the sound of light footsteps and a little thud sound coming from the nearby house. Instead of not really thinking anything of it, she remembers the incident with the patrol earlier, and that's enough to make her go into full defense mode. It also compels her to go and investigate. What if that ginger cat is out for revenge? With a deep breath and unsheathed claws she stalks her way to the sound, going towards the right corner of the front of the house.

She hears heavy breathing and some whimpering. She immediately sheathes her claws and turns the corner. Whoever this is can't hurt me, she thinks before scrunching up her nose. Though, I don't know this scent. It smells awful.

"...Hello?" Forest asks cautiously. The whimpering turns into crying.

Forest stifles a sigh and takes a moment to examine at who she's trying to talk to. A small and skinny—worryingly skinny—black tom. She can't see the colour of his eyes because he has them shut tight. Odd. I've never seen him before... even if he was just one of those cats who were always forced inside, I still would've seen him from the inside... wait. Forest looks around for a quick second. Isn't this where...? Nevermind. Help the kit.

"Are you okay?" Forest asks, this time with a much softer voice as she realizes that this cat could be a kitten. Forest isn't any good with kits—nevermind kits in distress—but she's just trying to remember and mimic what Blossom does when interacting with kittens.

"I..." the black cat starts and takes a few seconds to continue. "I need help... I need out of here."

"Okay. Can you get up?"

The black cat doesn't nod or anything, instead just pushing himself up and staring expectantly into Forests eyes with a piercing yellow.

"Okay... okay. Good. Uhm, do you need to go to anywhere in particular?"

"No... she just said anywhere."

"Who?"

"Patches. Can we leave now?" The cat seemed to recover from having a breakdown very quickly, though there were still sniffles and his voice was still small and weak sounding. He even starts to look slightly impatient.

"Uh, yeah. Yeah, sorry. Just follow me." Forest replies, trying to think of anyone she knew named Patches. The name didn't ring a bell at all.

Forest finally gets to where her twolegs live. She slides into the backyard through a broken part of the fence and the black cat does the same.

"Sorry, I can't take you inside. The twolegs are probably sleeping, but if they aren't they would freak out."

"Twolegs?" The cat tilts his head.

"Yeah. The cats around here call them humans. But I know that they're really called twolegs."

"Oh."

Forest leads the cat to a spot where Blossom and herself often lay down in in the backyard: a small hollow spot inside of an unruly bush.

"We can sleep here tonight."

"Okay." The cat suddenly sounds extremely depressed as he curls up near Forest.

"Hey," Forest starts, about to ask what happened that caused this cat to be sitting outside of a house and crying, but decides against it. That's probably too much right now for this kit and also Forest is tired and kinda just wants to sleep at this point. But she is very curious. She then realizes that she hasn't finished her sentence as she watches the cat pick his head up and stare at her. "Uh, what's your name?"

The cat blinks at her slowly and then puts his head back down. "Don't have one," he mumbles.

This makes Forest very confused and also a little more concerned. But she already has the perfect name for him anyways. "Do you want one?"

A slight pause. "Okay."

"How about Bat? You kinda remind me of one."

He looks puzzled and also extremely tired. "Okay," he replies sleepily before closing his eyes.

***

Forest has spent a few days with Bat. Bat was completely different from the night she met him. Honestly, Forest thought she would just give this cat a place to sleep for a night, a name, and then she would let him leave to go off to elsewhere beyond the neighborhood. She really thought he'd be a little too tortured and sad for her taste. But no. Bat was optimistic, spunky, and ambitious. And also apparently not quite a kit, just a starved runt. He's actually about six months old

Forest has tried asking what happened that night she met him, or asking about his living situation before that, but Bat got quiet and avoided the questions everytime. He did talk about one cat he lived with, though.

"Patches was like my mom," Bat explains. "She was old and always said she was ready to die because she knew she could never escape. But she took care of us either way," he looked a little sad.

"Oh. What did she look like?"

"She was mostly black, but she had some orange and white in her fur too. She looked old and wise."

Oh. He's talking about Dust. Forest must've been staring because Bat said, "What?"

"Sorry, I just realized I've always seen her in the same window whenever I passed by. I gave her a name in my head. I called her Dust."

"Wow, she's not that ol— actually, she might be that old." Both of them giggled. "Anyways, she's the reason I'm here now. She helped me get out."

"She sounds great," Forest smiled. "Uhm, by the way, I've been thinking of going to the forest. Wanna co—"

Bat perked up. "Ohh! Take me! Now!" He was basically jumping up and down.

"Okay, okay! I'll take you. Come on, follow me." Forest was excited to take Bat to the forest because she hadn't been able to go to the forest since she met him, which has only been five days, but she usually spent most of her time there. It was painful to not be there for so long.

They walked to the forest together, both of them radiating excited energy. Everything was so familiar but so beautiful to Forest and when she looks to see Bat's expression she smiles even more than she already was. There's an undescribable amount of joy and wonder on his face.

"C'mon, let's go exploring! I could navigate a good amount of this place blind. If you wanted, we could go to some of the better spots." Forest said and Bat nodded in response.

If it weren't for what happened a few days prior, she'd probably take him to that river. It was so pretty there, but she didn't feel like risking fighting with clan cats again. Instead she was just planning to take him to one of the more generally pretty areas, it wasn't anything special but Forest just thought it looked nicer than other areas.

Bat hasn't said much, just purring and gasping at all of the sights and sometimes running out in front of Forest and then she would have to drag him back behind. Forest has tried to warn Bat about clan cats, but she wasn't very stern about it.

They finally made their way to the area at some point and the moment they did Bat let out a weird happy sound and bolted away. "Bat!" Forest called after him, laughing a little.

Then he let out a loud yelp and Forest's heart sank. She hurries after him.

"Wait, no— I'm not apart of a clan, you're okay— Forest? What?"

"Blossom!" Forest pants "I thought Bat— what— okay. Hi. I swear, you appear at the worst times. Do you follow me around or something?" Blossom snorts.

Bat was shaking, but seemed to be calming down a little.

"Who's that?" Blossom asks, nodding her head towards Bat.

"I'm Bat," he answers quickly before Forest can.

"Well, hello there! I don't think I've seen you before." Blossom greets him with a sweet smile.

"Uh, yeah." Bat replies awkwardly.

"Anyways, before you ask, he's my friend now. Also the reason I haven't seen you a bit, sorry." Forest explains briefly.

"That's okay," Blossom responds. "I've actually been through a lot the past few days myself. The humans got a dog," she said, suddenly talking with a hint of exasperation.

"What? No way! How long ago?"

"Three days ago. I want to die."

"That's awful. I feel sorry for you," Forest says genuinely.

Forest takes a look back at Bat, who's just standing there a little awkwardly, then looks back to Blossom. "Wanna walk around the forest with Bat and I?" She asks.

"Oh, sure! But I think we should only stay here for a few more minutes. Never know if those clan cats are still searching for your scent or something."

"They're not tracking me down. I would be dead already."

"What?" Bat asks, both confused and intrigued.

"Don't worry about it," Forest sighs.

After that they walked around for a while—staying too long in the forest for Blossoms taste—and eventually got back to the neighborhood to walk around more. Bat and Blossom got along well together and all of them were becoming a friend group. By the end of the day Forest and Bat said their goodbyes to Blossom and left to go to their own home. Today was a good day. And despite the situation with the clan cats, this week was a good week.

Chapter 5

also. I don't know why I said that Bat was around nine months in the last chapter. that is older than what I was aiming for. he was around six months, seven now. this will be edited by the time this chapter is released but I just thought I should mention this

Chapter Text

"I hope that you have finally learned now that you really, really, can't just go anywhere in the forest. I need you to know that you literally could've di—"

"I know!"

Forest watches Bat get scolded by Blossom with amusement. On one group outing into the forest Bat decided to run off, like usual, but this time he wasn't really paying much attention to anything at all, because he ended up face-to-face with a patrol. Thankfully, nothing really happened. He just got scolded by one of the clan cats and is now getting scolded by Blossom.

"You're lucky that you're little, they probably let you off easier because of that," Blossom sighed.

Bat only huffs a little as a response and then looks away.

The next minute feels like many hours of uncomfortable silence. The tension between Blossom and Bat bleeds into the air and even though First chose to be a witness of this, she really feels like leaving the situation as the amusement from just a few seconds ago goes away abruptly. The sky suddenly feels more grey and cloudy than she previously realized.

She glances between the other two and after a several seconds she slowly gets up and leaves to go to her twoleg home.

She walks briskly, as if the uncomfortable silence will catch her if she doesn't escape quick enough. But it seems as if it already caught her; everything still has that awkward feel to it. It's too silent for Forest, even as she reaches and enters the twoleg house. No, especially when she enters the twoleg house.

Her paws hit a hard floor as she enters into a dark and cold room. She really only comes into here for food and water, maybe for somewhere to sleep if the weather is feeling very unforgiving, but sometimes she ends up here for longer than planned because the twolegs lock her in. She really despises those days, but today it doesn't seem like her twolegs are here. She makes her way to the food bowl, full of tasteless brown pellets, and starts eating. Eugh, this isn't even food... she thinks while crunching on the pellets. She finishes eating and drinking quickly and leaves before there's any chance of a twoleg coming back and seeing her.

When she steps out of the home she's met with Bat sitting outside on the grass with his back towards her, seemingly lost in his own mind. Bat hadn't had to live with Forest after a week and a half of staying with her and sleeping in the bush. Now he just sleeps either some place random or with Blossom. Forest had a feeling he wasn't gonna be staying with Blossom any time soon.

"What's up?" Forest meows.

Bat jumps slightly at Forests voice before turning around and replying, "Hi."

Forest walks to Bat and sits next to him. There's more silence and she just can't stand it.

"Have you ever thought of being a clan cat?" She asks him.

He looks at her. "Well, yeah. It sounds cool," he replies, "and you also make it sound really cool. And you're not even a clan cat. How do you know all that stuff about clans, anyway? Oh, did you secretly used to be a clan c—"

"No, I was never a clan cat," she snorted. "But I actually used to go into clan territories—yes, by myself. And yes, not very smart, I know—with the objective of observing and getting to know more about clans. Picked up some of their terms. Just saw them do their thing."

"How?"

Forest shrugged. "I know how to cover up a scent. And clan cats don't seem to ever go up in trees, so I knew how to stay hidden." Bat let out a slight chuckle. "Okay, okay, I know! I was just stupid that time."

Bat rolled his eyes, but then went silent for what felt like forever before finally speaking up again, "Why didn't you leave? I mean, like, leave here. You could've been living in the forest right now and clawing out other cats' hearts."

"I don't know," she replies honestly. "I think it's just now that I think about it... I wouldn't have Blossom. Or you."

Bat nods. "I guess that makes sense. But what if..."

When Bat didn't continue Forest gave him a confused expression.

"If what?"

"How hard could it be to just, y'know, make our own clan? You, Blossom and I—maybe other cats around here, who knows?—could go off into the forest and just start a clan or something."

Forest lets out a huff of laughter. "Bat, you know we wouldn't last a second. They wouldn't let us start a clan their territories, they don't even want us to put a paw in there. I think you would know this. We'd have to find somewhere completely untouched... Wait. WE'D FIND SOMEWHERE COMPLETELY UNTOUCHED!"

Forest jumps up and Bat proceeds to awkwardly scramble to stand up too. "Bat! We can—we can go and make our own clan! We need to go and get Blossom!"

Despite Bat's excitement, which appears to have hit him a little late, he gets a little worried. "Would Blossom really want to see me after she just scolded me for being an idiot?"

"Dude, I'm stupid and Blossom and I still are friends. She doesn't care! Trust me, she'll be all over this idea." Forest grins and reassures him.

***

"What?" Blossom asks, completely lost.

"We should try to go beyond the forests to go and start our own clan!" Forest chirps.

"Forest I, uh.... don't really know how well that would work? I mean, what do we know about life outside the forest? What could it even be like out there? No offense, Forest, but I don't think any of us are strong enough for that."

"No, no! You don't get it. Life out of here wouldn't be that hard. We'd be so free. We could truly be our own leaders! All it'd take is just an adventure out of here. We can do that."

"I mean—" Blossom pauses, clearly running through a lot of choices on what to say in her head. "I don't know. It really does sound great, but anything can happen, and I'm afraid that most of those things are gonna be terrible."

Forest frowns. She really thought that Blossom was gonna join in on this immediately, why would she be hesitant of something with such a great reward?

Bat stands beside Forest silently. He still felt a little awkward around Blossom, it really hasn't been all that long since he got scolded, and he also just didn't have much to say which wasn't something that happened often.

"Okay, Blossom, look at it like this," Forest starts. "You could stay here in this... twoleg place forever. Don't you think you'd get bored at some point? Don't you realize that there's never anything new to do? Sure, it's fun to hang out with you and Bat and run around this place without a care in the world, but do you really think that'd you still wanna be doing that for the rest of your life? When you know that you have the ability to go out there and make your own life! One that I'm sure you've dreamed about at least once."

Blossom looks conflicted. "I've said this before. Is it really worth my life? Our lives. We're content now, Forest..."

"You know we would protect each other from anything and everything. I couldn't let anybody die." Bat finally said. His face is hard to decipher, but at the same time he appeared very earnest.

Blossom's eyes flickered to the ground and then back up to the other two again. "Just... give me a day? I'll have my mind made up by tomorrow, I swear." She gave a small smile.

Forest grins. "Alright."
