Chapter 1: First

Chapter Text

Everything happens in slow motion.

A huge robot looms over me, planning to drill through the skull and wind the brain on the blades, scatter it all over the backyard of the school. It looks like an insect. Six robotic legs, antennae and a drill bit instead of mandibles. It is bright, neon, in the style of Zim. It presses me to the ground with its limbs.

Zim is standing a couple of meters away with a remote control in his hand. A sinister smile spreads across his face. My brain is desperately trying to come up with something in the seconds that were given to me before my imminent death.

And then machine fell on its side, starting to sparkle. I was doused with icy water. I heard screeching from Zim's side and footsteps quickly retreating. I crawled away and, trying to wipe the water from my face, looked at the device, which sparkled and began to glitch before it turned off and began to smoke. I looked at where the attack came from, it was a first-floor window. From the men's room.

The window was open. The boy in it was standing on the windowsill and leaning out of the window with more than half of his body. In his hands was a rusty bucket from which the cleaner cleans the floor. He had brown hair and a cap on it. Orange T-shirt and beige shorts. Our eyes met.

There was an awkward silence.

I was sitting on the grass, all dirty, disheveled, beaten, wet, but alive. That kid saved me. I did was soundlessly open and close my mouth this shok. Death was so close.

- um... - the guy put the bucket on the windowsill and put his hand on it. - I'll... come down to you now...

He disappeared from the window. Exhausted, I lay down on the grass and looked at the gray, lifeless sky.

We went into the nurse's office. The nurse was not in the room, my companion rolled his eyes. His name was Dipper Pines, as I found out while we were walking here.

- She always not there? - he asked. The voice is high, but not squeaky. He has tanned skin unlike many in this gloomy city. Barely visible freckles.

- Probably...- I was leaning on his shoulder because I was limping.

When the guy put me on the couch, my eyes went dark, I started blinking rapidly.

- Now we'll find something ...- the guy turned to me, looking anxiously. I didn't even notice how he moved away, it seemed the warmth from his fingers was still on my shoulder. I kept my eyes open and my brain processing information only due to the remaining adrenaline running through my veins. - The main thing is not to switch off!

I suddenly felt worse, my lungs were covered with unbearable heat. I was breathing through my mouth. Blood from my nose dripped onto my lips and flowed into my mouth, leaving a metallic taste on my tongue.

I felt my nose being gently touched before the figure in front of me nodded satisfactorily and stuffed cotton wool into my nostril.

- Like the nose is not broken - Dipper took another cotton wool, soaked it before bringing it to a not particularly deep scratch. I felt the peroxide sting and began to see a little clearer. - Dib, right?

- Yeah - I muttered.

- I will talk to you so that you don't pass out... - he diligently washed the wounds on my hands. - This strange guy... does he bully you a lot?

- I... - throbbing pain tortured my head - no, he doesn't bully me... - I looked away in embarrassment - you came at the wrong time, he also gets from me ...

- Enemies? - he smiled knowingly. His hand lifted the peroxide bottle, he rolled up my pant leg to the knee. - it may hurt now. - I felt a burning pain in my knee and bit my lip.

- Y-yes - I squeezed out - and... he... The bad guy ... I ... ffffff - I hissed through my teeth - The rest do not suspect how dangerous he is to society!

- Mmmm... - he frowned - do you know? What he... not human.

- yes! Stop... Where are you from-

- I... hm... - Dipper turned up my other pant leg and abruptly began pouring peroxide on my other knee. - I've been following him for a while, he seemed strange to me. I do not know why others do not think that something is wrong.

- Eh! - despite my protesting "Eh!" in the direction of peroxide, warmth began to spread over my chest, and my gaze cleared. - It seems strange to me too!

- Well - he stopped pouring - I thought that his disguise just doesn't work on me, maybe some kind of hologram is visible to the others or it's hypnosis.... I am glad that there is another person who sees the truth. - the guy smiled shyly - do you have any information about him? I keep records...

My chest was burning, but no longer from pain, but from happiness developing through the body.
