Chapter 2
At Mystic High school:
Stefan spent a pleasant morning at school talking with Elena that was until he heard the conversation between Matt Donovan and Elena about Vicky. Stefan cursed himself for forgetting about Damon's stupid attack yesterday and vamp sped to the hospital to compel the girl only to be seen by her brother as to avoid Matt he entered the first room he saw which to make it worse was filled with blood and patients donating it. Stefan found it hard not to lose control and ran and collided with a human which luckily was Aria, one of the only humans who doesn't make me want to go into a bloodlust frenzy and is good at calming him down.
"Stefan?" Aria asked looking confused and wondering why someone who has uncontrollable bloodlust and technically doesn't need medical help is doing in a hospital.
"Thank god it was you, what are you doing?" Stefan asked.
Aria pointed to her scrubs, "Is your old age finally catching up to you?" She joked hoping he would remember the reason why she came to spend time with them.
"Yesterday dumbass Damon bit a girl and didn't compel her thinking that it will cause me problems. So I came to compel her." Stefan whispered, not wanting others to hear.
Just as he was about to leave Donovan came into the room.
"What are you doing here Stefan?" He asked.
"Visiting my cousin, she actually started working here today. I thought she would like some moral support." Stefan said without missing a beat.
Aria smiled and waved her hand. "Matt wasn't it? I am sorry that your sister got attacked. I heard there was an increase in wild animal attacks here, I hope your sister recovers quickly."
Donovan looked confused and lost before he went back to his sister.
"Just be careful both of you, don't do anything that would make the council suspicious of you. " Aria warned before she resumed her duties.
While Stefan had a terrible afternoon, Damon had fun playing with Elena and making her doubt her relationship. While he has nothing against Stefan pursuing Elena doesn't mean he is going to make it easier for him. He is glad Stefan is interested in boring Elena that would mean he doesn't have to fight with him for Katherine's affections.
Goading Stefan has always been fun. Now that he remembered it, he has to do something about the girl he attacked. He didn't think Stefan's compulsion would last long. He grinned thinking of how much fun he is going to have fun with Stefan using that injured girl.
"It would be fun Aria, watching the comet. You could make new friends at the comet too, " Caroline said excited to spend more time with the older woman. While she was sad that she couldn't get Stefan she was at least glad that she could get a good friend out of his cousin. While she is glad to have Elena and Bonnie as friends all Elena is now interested to talk about is Stefan and their relationship while Bonnie was figuring out if she was witch or psychic and anyway Bonnie was never that interested in girly stuff like she is and she could talk whatever she wants with the older girl.
"I would like to come but I am still working at the hospital and my shift ends at 10. I'll try to join then. Keyword being try." Aria replied back.
Caroline pouted but accepted the answer knowing that it was a very legitimate reason.
The night of the comet:
Damon cursed when that girl Vicky or something recognised him and wondered how his brother survived all these years when a simple compulsion is barely working when he isn't high on blood, then he remembered that his brother didn't have to compel poor unsuspecting animals after drinking from them and got up to deal with the girl and maybe have some fun with his brother.
Damon kidnapped the girl and made sure his brother could hear her as he waited for Stefan to arrive.
He did enjoy scaring the girl. As he pushed the girl towards Stefan he asked the important question as the girl sobbed, "Who attacked you?"
"I don't know. An animal"
"Are you sure about that? Think." Damon asked, wanting to show Stefan how weak his compulsion is.
Vicky thought hard for a moment before she answered with vampires and pointing towards Damon saying that he attacked her.
Just to have a bit more fun before erasing her memory, he compelled her to say that Stefan attacked her.
Damon eventually got bored and compelled her to forget everything that happened and to believe that she was attacked by a vampire and sent her on her merry way.
"Look at that Stefan, all she had to do is think hard and she remembered everything so from now on don't go around doing your half arsed compulsions. We are going to get caught. Leaving the compelling to the experts aka me." Damon said, pointing towards him.
"You could have done that without all the drama and scaring."
"Well someone had to teach you important scary life lessons and I take my job as your big brother very seriously," said Damon.
By the time Aria came to watch the comet it was already late since she did promise Caroline that she would try to come so she came and the first person she saw that she knew of was Damon. She didn't think Damon was that interested in comets.
"Hey munchkin, aren't you supposed to be resting after your long shift?" Damon asked.
"Yeah, I'll go after staying for a while. Since you are here, is Stefan also with you?"
"Nah, Stefan is at the boarding house. He is sadboi Stefan today apparently he and Elena already had their major clash." Damon said innocently as if he isn't the cause of their fight.
"Are you saying that you didn't have anything to do with their fight?" Aria asked knowing Damon too well.
"I am hurt that you would think I would do such things. All I did was mention to Elena that she might be a rebound. Which is true as I don't think Stefan would be that interested in her if she hadn't looked like Katherine and also it's not my fault that they didn't yet have talked about their exes."
Aria looked confused, "didn't they just meet like three to four days ago? I know I didn't date much but do everyone have conversations about their exes just after they meet each other?" Aria asked wondering if she had missed something she didn't think anyone revealed everything about themselves just after they started dating. She and Cedric definitely didn't do that; they mostly talked about their interests, quidditch and school.
Aria and Damon were interrupted by Caroline who inwardly felt a bit disappointed thinking that they were a couple but was still happy.
"You came. "
"I did promise you, didn't I? Caroline, let me introduce you to my cousin Damon, Stefan's brother. "
Caroline nodded her head happy that she still had some chance with the guy. The three of them talked for a while before Aria left saying that she is tired, leaving the two of them.
Damon gave one of his trademarked smirks to Caroline. While he thought the blonde was an alright person he found a new way to play with Stefan. While he did promise that he wouldn't hurt the blonde he never said anything about not sleeping with her. In the process if Stefan thought he was hurting the blonde and spent thinking about all the diabolical plans he had to thwart. More fun for him as he watched Stefan fumble and in the meanwhile he would get to sleep with a cute blonde and as expected Damon got invited into the sheriff's house and had his fun.
