Work Text:
Black Pearl Cookie swam along the shoreline, she hadn’t been there in years, for it only reminded her of the pure betrayal she felt on the edge of those waters.
“One hundred years, huh? One hundred years of being constantly reminded of this impurity.” She muttered to no one in particular.
The sand looked particularly soft and the seashells glistened in the sun, but the mermaid didn’t notice, or rather, she didn’t care enough to notice. The day would be an agonizing one filled with regret.
No matter how much she tried to think of something-anything else, the memories would only come back to her. The voices just wouldn’t shut up. They never shut up.
That cookie with the horrendously beautiful eyes passed on peacefully, while she’s cursed to live for eternity with regret and anguish. Their kin now freely walking around instead of paying for their sins. It disgusted her.
Tears pricked her eyes. They wouldn’t stop. Not while the voices reminded her of every single step that cookie made, the sound of their hauntingly gentle voice or the amount of pearls they wore.
The pearls that they had adorned with with those blank grey eyes.
It was sickening. All of this. Was sickening.
She will make them pay .
The pain and suffering all bubbled up inside of her. Finally allowing her fury to resurface, she created the largest and strongest storm she could. One that surpassed even her own expectations. Despite Captain Caviar Cookie’s best efforts to pacify her in the past, she knew that this time it wouldn’t work.
The rain beat down heavily on the entirety of the republic. She could hear the cries of those pathetic children when the thunder roared. How weak. The storm targeted one house in particular. A very wealthy house. One who she deemed unnecessary, greedy and corrupt. The smell of salt wafted through the air. Her plan was working. Finally, she’ll be able to remove those monsters. Finally, she’ll be able to rid herself of the voices. Finally, her suffering will be over…
…Or will it? What’s the point of taking revenge when the perpetrator is long gone? What’s the point of punishing cookies who didn’t even wrong her? Was it their fault that they were born into that horrid family? To inherit the sins of someone they didn’t even know?
As her dilemma continued the strength of the storm waned. Their screams became quieter. A more sadistic part of her wanted to continue pouring more rage into the storm. After all, they’re still benefiting from her suffering. How is it fair that they get all the benefits and she only gets the drawbacks?
Ear piercing screams could be heard. The smell of salt roared through the air as Black Pearl Cookie herself fully receded into her mind, completely forgetting about the ongoing storm.
They gained money, power and influence by selling her pearl, by selling her trust.
Land-dwelling cookies truly are greedy, selfish and heartless. Just like the teachings said.
Oh how she wished she listened, they were always right.
But this time, she will not falter and let them go. This time, she will make sure every cookie knows not to betray her. This time, she’ll make sure they’ll regret ever coming across her. And as her determination and rage were finally set free, the residents of House Oyster heard one last thing before everything went dark.
“This time, I’ll show you unforgiving.”
