Chapter Text
The first time Samantha Wayne met Clark Kent he had tripped over an exposed cable and caused an entire tray of champagne to fall on her, liquid, glass, and tray.
The people around her were sent into a flurry. Her assistants and event host were busy fussing over her while someone was yelling at the poor reporter for being a clumsy oaf.
He eventually got to his feet and the people around her had stopped fussing enough to turn their attention to him. The rest of the hall also seemed to freeze.
“I’m so sorry Ms. Wayne.” He began to apologize and she could tell that he wasn’t going to stop anytime soon.
She held up a hand and offered him a small smile as he stopped speaking, “It’s okay, it wasn’t your fault that the cables were not managed correctly for an event,” She gave the event host a sharp look, “With so much foot traffic.”
“I take full responsibility, Ms. Wayne.” The event host said, sweating profusely as his voice began to shake with nerves “I will immediately have my staff check for any more hazards and ensure this doesn’t happen again.”
“You should also apologize to that gentleman as well.” She said, accepting a handkerchief from Jane to blot her neck.
Clark swallowed at the command this woman had over the room, it was exhilarating and he felt his heart beat faster. He barely heard the man apologize to him as he was too busy watching her arch her neck and wipe up the champagne.
His mouth went dry.
