Chapter 1: House Party

Chapter Text

As the sun seeped through the curtains, Emily slowly began waking up. It had been the second night she had fallen asleep at her desk after being up until 3 in the morning writing poems. Wiping the crust from her eyes she went on a search for her phone only to find it hidden under a pile of clothes that she had no intention in picking up. When she picked up her phone, Emily looked at the 9 text messages waiting for her to read.

Sibling No. 1 [9:03 am]: There is going to be a party at my house and all of you have to go

George [9:04 am]: Austin are you sure that is a good idea? You remember what happened last time.

Sibling No. 1 [9:05 am]: THAT GOAT HAD IT COMING! ANYWAYS the party starts at 10 and you all should be there

Mabel [9:14 am]: Why are you so eager for us to come party tonight?

Sibling No. 1 [9:16 am]: Because the girl I was talking about is going to be there and I want you guys to meet her

Sibling No. 1 [9:15 am]: So everyone has to come tonight

Sibling No. 1 [9:18 am]: That includes you Emily

Emily softly chuckled to herself. Austin always knows that she would just say that she was swamped with work to get out of going out places and end up at home writing poems until dawn. Before Emily could continue checking her phone it dawned up on her that she had her Physics class in 20 minutes.

“Shit” Emily mumbled before she ran to the restroom. After a self debate, Emily settled for brushing her teeth and comb through her hair with her fingers. Then she ran to throw on the nearest piece of clothing she could find which happened to be a hoodie and sweatpants and rushed out the door.

-

When her class finished Emily went to the nearest bench she could find to begin writing As she let words fall from her burning head to the tiny piece of paper, her train of thought was interrupted by the rumbling of her stomach. Against her prayers her stomach that continued to growl with every passing minute forced Emily to drag herself off the bench and towards her favorite coffee shop just outside of the campus.

She opened the door to the shop the sweet aroma of freshly ground coffee invited her in. After she ordered her food, Emily searched the room to find a secluded area where she could sit unbothered by anyone. She ended up finding a spot but once she sat down, her eyes fell up on a young woman sitting alone in the corner of the room reading a book in deep focus. The woman’s soft eyes and sharp jawline trapped Emily in a trance that she couldn’t escape. After starring for what seemed like hours, the woman went to take a sip of her drink and slowly brought her eyes up to look at Emily. “Fuck” Emily thought. “Stop staring” Emily screamed in her head but she couldn’t seem to look away. After taking a deep sip the woman put her drink down and licked her lips all while still looking at Emily. Emily turned bright red as she began to feel the heat rising in between her legs. The woman’s lips formed a smirk as she notice the new bright red tint on Emily’s face. As if her prayers had secretly been answered the barista called her name and Emily grabbed her food before she swiftly walked toward the exit. Before she even reached the door, her body collided with something hard making her momentarily lose her balance.

“Shit I’m sorry” Emily said as the figure held her up right. “I tend to not look where I’m going-“ Emily stopped mid sentence when she looked up and saw that the woman she had just gawked over 2 minutes ago was right in front of her face.

“It’s okay. It was partly my fault too. I wanted to talk to you not trample you.” The mystery woman let out with a soft chuckle that made Emily’s knees go weak. The woman released her hold on Emily and held her hand out.

“I’m Sue”.

Emily took Sue’s hand and melted further once she realized how soft her hands were. Sue looked at Emily curiously as she waited for her to respond. Unfortunately for her, Emily couldn’t form sentences after her hand made contact with Sue’s.

“I’m Emily” she squeaked out after what fell like an eternity. All Sue did was smile even harder and let out another low chuckle.

“Well I won’t keep you any longer. I just wanted to introduce myself to you.” Sue said as she removed her hand from Emily’s.

As she headed for the door Sue gave one last glance at Emily and winked at her before continuing her way.

Emily’s hand felt like it was on fire yet she still missed the warmth of Sue’s hand on hers as she walked away. Emily walked back to her apartment with a smile her face. When she turned the key to her door open she walked over to her bed and fell onto it in pure bliss.

“Sue”

-

With a sigh Emily sat in her chair and began writing. She closed her eyes and wrote about the one person that had had haunted her mind for hours. Sue. Emily could write about autumn trees or newborn birds but the only thing that she could think about was Sue. Her soft brown eyes and pink lips clouded Emily’s mind.

Knock Knock

“Oh my fucking god” Emily mumble as she walked to her front door. Before she could open the door fully she was pushed out the way with brutal force.

“Emily, what the hell you are supposed to be dressed by now!” Lavinia yelled as she looked over Emily to see that she was still wearing her hoodie and sweatpants from earlier.

“Hello to you too Vinnie” Emily rolled her eyes as Lavinia searched her closet for clothes.

“Austin sent me here because he knew that you wouldn’t be ready if he didn’t. Now put this on.” Lavinia pulled out a short black dress that looked like it barely covered Emily’s ass and matching black heels. Emily stared at the dress and then back at Lavinia.

“You’re joking.” Lavinia glared at Emily with a look that said don’t even try that. Emily rolled her eyes and retreated to the bathroom to put the dress on.

“Oh and don’t forget to do your makeup because there is no way you are walking out of this apartment looking like that.” Lavinia shouted just before the bathroom door closed.

-

When Emily entered the kitchen, Lavinia had already managed to finish filling up two shots of tequila from the bottle she hides in the back of her cabinet to avoid this such situation from happening.

“Damn okay. See with the right clothes you can look decent.”Emily rolled her eyes as Lavinia walked over to her with a shot in hand.

“I can feel my bare ass blowing in the wind whenever I walk” Emily mumbled with a frown on her face.

“Stop it you look great now drink up. There is no way we are going to this party sober.” Emily downed the shot she was given and immediately cringed at the burn the tequila left in her throat while going down. Lavinia on the other hand threw the shot back like a champ and headed towards the door. Emily straggled behind her. Silently hoping that she could leave the party early.

The smell of alcohol was all that Emily smelled once Lavinia opened the door. Lavinia immediately recognized her friends in the distance and walked towards them leaving Emily by herself. She was determined to stay in the stop for the rest of the night but when Emily saw George waking in her direction she reluctantly disappeared into the crowd of sweaty people searching for the kitchen. When she made it to her destination, Emily searched for the nearest bottle of something strong. As she reached for a bottle of whiskey she heard the sound of someone clearing their throat. Excepting it to be George, Emily turned around with an annoyed expression. But when she did turn around, she was greeted by the brown eyes that stormed her mind for hours.

“Hey you.” Sue shouted over the loud music. She was wearing a leather jacket over a graphic t-shirt completed with black converse and skinny blue jeans. Damn Emily thought. Is there anyway she could be any hotter.

“Hey Sue. What are you doing here?” Emily swallowed the lump in her throat as Sue leaned in until her face was only inches way from Emily’s.

“I came to get a drink.” Sue whispered in Emily’s ear before she reached behind her for the bottle that Emily was reaching for only minutes ago.

Emily let go of the breath she didn’t know she was holding when Sue finally backed up and poured herself a drink before filling Emily’s empty cup. Emily froze in her spot as Sue brought her drink to her mouth to take a sip. Sue smiled as she observed Emily’s face over the roof of her cup. When she took a gulp of her drink Emily stared at Sue in lust.

“So who..um…invited you?” Emily said still looking a Sue’s throat.

“There you are I have been looking for you all over the place.” Austin slurred as he looked at Sue with a dopey smile while wrapping his arm around Sue’s shoulders.

“Oh Emily you made it!” Austin shouted as the threw his free hand holding a beer up in the air, spilling some in the process.

“Hey Austin” Emily sighed with a slight disappointment in her voice at the short display of affection that Austin showed Sue.

“Oh I almost forgot. Emily this is Sue Gilbert. My girlfriend.” Austin looked at Sue with love sick expression while Emily shared a shocked look with Sue.

“Your girlfriend” Emily repeated just above a whisper mostly to herself.

“Oh babe they’re about to start another round of beer pong you have to be my partner.” Austin said trying to drunkly lead Sue to the table.

“Uh…Austin I think you should cut back on drinking if you want to be able to get up in the morning.” Sue removed her arm from Austin’s and started walking away. Emily didn’t know if it was her rage or the liquid courage from earlier but before Sue left the kitchen she blurted out.

“I’ll do it. I can cover for Austin.” Sue raised an eyebrow at Emily as she turned around. Keeping her gaze on Emily, Sue walked over to Austin and whispered just loud enough for him to hear her.

“Are you okay with that Austin?” Austin clearly out of it just nodded his head with a smile on his face.

“Okay then. Let’s see what you are made of Emily Dickinson.” Sue commented before she walked up to Emily so that they were face to face. Emily could feel the heat rising in her core from Sue calling her full name. No Emily warned in her head she is your brother’s girlfriend and you cannot sleep with your brother’s girlfriend. Breaking the tension Emily grabbed Sue’s hand and quickly led her to the beer pong table.

Sue began to roll up her sleeves while the final touches were made to the game. But before they could start, Emily heard a familiar voice from across the table.

“I want to go first this time” George said to Jane standing next to him.

“Like I will let that happen.” Jane responded. “We talked about this before. I start well and you finish the game strong.” Great Emily thought. Not only do I have to deal with George asking me out every five minutes but now I have to deal with the woman who is madly in love with my brother too. As Emily tried to hide behind Sue, George spotted her and started smiling like a happy puppy.

“Emily there you are.” George shouted as he almost tripped over himself running towards Emily. “I have been trying to get a hold of you all night. Wow you look amazing by the way.” As George continued talking Emily glance at Sue who was squeezing the table until her knuckles turned white. Interesting Emily noted.

“Thanks George.” Emily responded uninterested.

“By the way I wanted you ask you..um…I have a free ticket to the poetry slam battle next Thursday and I wanted to know if you wanted to-“
“Let’s get on with this game shall we?” George was cut off by Sue who seemed suddenly interested in starting the game. Emily looked closely and saw Sue clenching her jaw together.

George returned to his side and the game began. At first Jane came in strong knocking 3 balls in one after another. Emily and Sue quickly drank the cups and both cringed as it burned going down. That is definitely not beer Emily thought. However the girls made a surprising comeback winning the game however instead of quitting Sue looked Emily in the eye and said in a firm voice “Again.”

Four rounds later George and Jane tapped out so Sue turned her attention to something else. Body shots.

“You are up Emily” Sue said once the person who just finished their shot got up.

“But I’m wearing a dress.” Emily croaked out swallowing the lump in her throat.

“We can make it work.” Sue said just above a whisper as she looked directly into Emily’s eyes.

Emily leaned back on the bar as Sue picked up the salt. Sue grabbed Emily’s neck and held it to the side. Emily’s breath stopped when Sue licked a thick line up her throat stopping just below her jaw. Sue then shook some salt on Emily’s neck and finished it off by placing a lime in between Emily’s lips. The quick touch between Emily’s mouth and Sue’s fingers set Emily on fire as she could feel the heat rising on her cheeks. Sue managed to keep a straight face as she took the shot in her hand without making a face. She then put she shot down and slowly licked the salt from Emily’s throat and pulled her by the neck as she took the lime from in between Emily’s lips. Sue made sure to do it in such a way that their lips grazed each other.

As Sue finished the shot everybody started cheering. Emily feeling guilty (and a little drunk) immediately ran to the nearest restroom. The music was to loud that she could barely hear Sue trailing behind her calling out her name.

When Emily found the restroom she immediately closed the door only for it to be open again by a panting Sue. Emily turned around quickly so that she wasn’t facing Sue despite Sue’s protest for the girl to look at her.

“Don’t Sue.” Emily said when she tried to get close to her. “Why didn’t you tell me that you were Austin’s girlfriend.” Emily faced Sue now.

“Because I didn’t know that you were Austin’s sister.” Emily scoffed at Sue but she just continued as she began slowly walking towards her. “At the coffee shop I swear I was just being friendly but then I saw you here and I couldn’t stop it.” Sue was now only inches away from Emily’s face. Sue looked surprisingly calm while Emily who was now backed against a wall was breathing heavy.

Sue placed her left hand on the wall behind Emily while her right came up hovering over Emily’s cheek. Sue leaned in and closed the space in between them. With the first touch of Sue’s lips Emily melted under her touch but, when Sue tried to deepen the kiss Emily grabbed the front of her shirt and violently pushed Sue back. Emily stared in Sue to find dark eyes and blown pupils. There was a beat of silence but Emily gave in and pulled Sue back to her lips. This time Sue waste no time and removed her hand from the wall and placed it on Emily’s waist. When Emily placed her hands around Sue’s neck, Sue place her other hand on her waist too. The kiss quickly became rushed as Sue pressed Emily harder on the wall. Emily let out a soft moan when Sue bit her lower lip. Oh shit Emily thought. This is a very bad idea.Despite what she thought Emily continued her violent kiss with Sue. Sue spread Emily’s legs only wide enough to sneak her knee in between them making Emily let out a slightly louder moan. Sue started attacking Emily’s neck as she began rocking her knee forward.

“Shit” Emily breathed out when Sue pressed her knee forward into Emily’s core with just the right amount of pressure.

Sue smiled into Emily’s neck and repeated the movement making Emily moan again. She repeated the action again and again until Emily let out a frustrated moan when Sue removed her knee. Sue trailed her hand down Emily’s body starting at her collarbone and going down until she reached the hem of her dress. Just before she reached into Emily’s panties there was a knock at the door.

Sue removed her hand when Emily tapped her shoulder telling her to move away. Emily stared at Sue and laughed at the makeup stain on Sue’s lips. Sue turned around and began to clean off her face as Emily fixed her hair and dress. When they looked presentable they stepped out of the bathroom as the person waiting pushed them out the way to throw up in the toilet.

“So…” Sue awkwardly stood looking at Emily.

“Oh for the love of god” Emily grabbed Sue’s hand a lead her out the front door. She pulled out her phone and called a lift as Sue just stood there. When the car came, Emily and Sue climbed in and Emily gave the man directions while Sue drew patterns on her leg.

When they arrived at her apartment Emily barely opened the door before Sue pinned Emily against the door and kissed her fiercely.

“Humph” Emily moaned into the kiss when Sue lifted her up on the door encouraging her to wrap her arms around her waist.

Emily grind against Sue’s lap desperately trying to find some friction to relive the throbbing in between her legs.

“Bedroom” Sue said in between the kiss. She had already took off her jacket and was slowly working on her shirt.

“Upstairs first door on the left” Emily sighed as she squeezed her legs harder around Sue’s body.

Sue placed her hands on Emily’s ass as she tried to navigate her way around the house. Emily just smiled as Sue kissed and sucked on her neck.

By the time they made it do the bedroom, Emily was missing a shoe and Sue was barefoot and shirtless. Sue slid of her pants so quickly that she tripped on the way to help Emily when she asked to be unzipped. While Sue slowly unzipped Emily with one hand the other was moving her hair out the way so that she could place peppered kisses on Emily’s neck and shoulder. Emily moaned when Sue bit down on her neck and then soothed the spot with her tongue.

Once Emily was out of her dress Sue wasted no time and led her on the bed. Sue connected their lips together as she pushed Emily down on the bed. Their kiss soon became a fight for dominance which Sue ended up winning with little fight. Sue moved in between Emily’s legs and began trailing kisses down Emily’s neck. When Sue bit down on her pulse point Emily let out a moan and jerked her hips up. When she did this Sue unbuckled her bra and threw it on the ground somewhere.

“I love this hot matching set you have on. But I need this to come off as soon as possible.” Sue snuck a finger just below Emily’s waistband and let it go with a snap. Sue continued her path without the bra in the way and stopped at Emily’s boobs. Sue made a experimental squeeze of Emily’s nipple that made her moan so Sue took that as a good sign and put one of the nipples into her mouth.

Emily struggled to keep herself under control when Sue began pulling and kneading the other nipple with her hand. Sue lapped over the already stiff nipple a few times before swapping spots and giving the other the same treatment.

Sue moved back up to kiss Emily’s lips while her hand traveled lower. Sue drew teasing circles around Emily’s stomach before she ran the index finger over Emily’s clothed core. They both moaned when Sue rubbed her finger in a circular motion.

“Damn you are so wet.” Sue whispered as she brutally kissed Emily on the lips.

Sue pulled down Emily’s underwear and continued teasing her soaked core. Emily let out a frustrating groan when Sue purposely avoided her bundle of nerves.

“Sue” Emily moaned just above a whisper.

“Yes” Sue said in a low voice as she began kissing Emily’s neck.

“Please” Emily whined

“Please what?” Sue said

“Please touch me” Emily said bucking her hips up.

Sue took pity on the poor girl and brought her thumb up to play with Emily’s clit. Emily moaned and clinched around nothing as she was so worked up that the could cum with a few more strokes of her clit. Sue on the other hand had better plans. She speeded up her hand and rubbed Emily’s nub in tight circles causing Emily to moan again.

“S-Sue “ Emily stuttered out as a warning for her pending orgasm.

Sue continued her movements even faster as Emily’s hips raised off the bed. So Sue grabbed her hip with the other hand and pinned Emily to the bed. Emily could feel white heat rising in her as Sue continued her brutal pace. Sue could sense that Emily was trying to hold of her orgasm so she brought her hand up and squeezed one of Emily’s nipples.

“Oh shit! Ahhhh…fuck!“ Emily cursed as she tipped over the edge and her walls pulsed around nothing. She was breathing heavy but Sue wouldn’t let her go from the edge as she kept rubbing Emily’s clit with the same spread.

Sue let Emily down a little bit before she inserted two fingers into Emily’s core.

“Fuck” Emily moaned as she realized that Sue wasn’t done yet.

Sue started a savage pace trusting in and out of Emily never losing her pace for a second. Emily threw her head back with pleasure when Sue brought her thumb up to rub Emily’s clit in tight circles. When Sue felt Emily squeezed around her fingers she pulled out until only the tip of her finger was in and then trusted deeply back into her. Emily moaned as she felt herself reaching the end again and Sue could tell so she curled her fingers in Emily and began massaging the spongy spot inside over her.

“Fuck Sue I’m gonna cu-“ Emily didn’t even finish her sentence before she came all over Sue’s fingers. Emily saw white as another rush of liquid released over Sue’s hand.

Sue removed her hand slowly out of Emily which made her moan and made eye contact with Emily as she sucked her fingers clean. Emily bit her lip as Sue rolled of of her.

“Damn that was hot.” Sue said as Emily tried to slow her breathing down.

“I’ll say” Emily responded.

“I don’t know how this moment could get any better” Sue sighed with a dopey smile on her face.

Then Emily threw her leg over Sue’s body and sat on top of her.

“How about you let me take care of you” Emily said as she bit her lip.

“Off” Emily said snapping a strap to Sue’s sports bra.

Sue pulled it off eagerly and Emily pushed her shoulders making her lay flat on the bed. Emily wasted no time as she trailed kisses down Sue’s body stopping to admire Sue’s chest for a move for continuing down further until she reached the waistband of Sue’s red underwear. Emily slowly pulled down Sue’s underwear and threw it behind her. Sue let out a chuckle that turned into a moan when Emily began sucking on her clit.

“Oh shit” Sue moaned as she put both of her hands on the back of Emily’s head.

Emily slowly alternated between dipping her tongue into Sue and using her fingers to trust into her. However Emily realized from Sue pulling her hair that she wasn’t a fan of teasing and decided to speed up her pace.

Sue started to rock against Emily’s face when she felt her tongue going in and out of her. Emily desperate to make Sue come quickened her pace and frantically rubbed Sue clit in tight circles as Sue moaned and clinched around Emily’s tongue.

“Shit I’m close” Sue said as she squeezed harder on Emily’s hair and her hips started to move more erratic.

Emily understanding Sue’s need for release started a brutal pace as Sue started getting tighter around her tongue.

“Ah shit” Sue screamed as she came on Emily’s tongue.

Emily tried to get every last drop of Sue as she kept releasing wave after wave into Emily’s mouth. Once Sue came down she pulled Emily up into a brutal kiss tasting herself on Emily’s tongue.

Emily rolled off of Sue and pulled the covers over their sweaty bodies.

“I think you should wash your sheets.” Sue chuckled as she felt Emily curl up next to her.

“Tomorrow ‘m too tried right now.” Emily mumbled as her eye lids started to get heavy and sleep started to take over her.

“Good night Emily” Sue said as she kissed the top of Emily’s head.

“Night” Emily said before she drifted off to sleep.

Chapter Text

Emily woke up blinking repeatedly at the painful sun that beamed down on her half covered body. She laid there in bliss for a few short minutes before her hangover in the form of a splitting headache kicked in. I am way too tired for this shit. She thought as she rolled over trying to get a few more minutes of sleep. Unfortunately for Emily, when she rolled over she hit something hard. Something…breathing. When her hand moved up to touch soft brown hair, the events from last night hit her like a free train. She had a one night stand with a girl she met at a houseparty. Shit. Emily thought mentally face palming herself. But oh it wasn’t just any random girl. No it was Sue….Austin’s girlfriend Sue. Double shit. Emily moved to sneak out of the bed. Gripping the comforter that was barely on the bed to cover herself, Emily tip-toed away from the sleeping brunette as quickly as she could. Right as Emily started to have hope in her mission impossible style escape, she tripped over her scattered clothes and fell directly on her ass with a thud.

The figure in bed rolled over and slowly opened their eyes to look directly at Emily on the floor. “Oh shit” Sue mumbled as she wiped the crust from her eyes.

“Hi” Emily croaked out with an awkward and very uncomfortable smile.

“Hey” Sue dryly responded trying to also fight off her pending hangover by sitting up slowly and resting her head on Emily’s headboard.

After what seemed like an eternity of awkward silentness, Emily spoke again. “Can we do this awkward conversation later because I’m starting to feel very nauseous and I have a splitting headache. Not to mention I probably look and smell like-“

“Just go,” Sue said, cutting off Emily while rubbing her temples with her fingers.

“Thank you” Emily said as she rushed to the bathroom.

Oh fuck, oh fuck, oh fuck! She silently chanted in her head as she paced around the bathroom. She just slept with her brother’s girlfriend. Her brother’s insanely hot girlfriend. Her brother’s ‘really good at sex and beer pong’ girlfriend.

“Ugh” Emily groaned, covering her hands with her face. She had so many emotions running inside of her at a million miles per hour but the biggest one took over and she ran to vomit in the toilet.

-

After emptying the contents left in her body from last night, Emily peaked her head outside to see that the bed was empty. Seeing this as a perfect opportunity, Emily went into her closet and picked out an oversized shirt and a fresh pair of underwear to throw on.

When Emily headed towards the kitchen, she heard quiet footsteps echoing through the walls. Great she’s not gone Emily grumbled to herself as she tiptoed downstairs.

When she reached the kitchen, Emily saw Sue, in her clothes from yesterday, brewing a pot of coffee.

“Good morning” Sue said as she turned around to see Emily awkwardly standing in the archway of the kitchen.

“Morning” Emily responded, giving Sue a once over. Stopping when she noticed that Sue was holding her ‘Live, Laugh, Love Titties’ mug that Lavina bought her when she came out to her 4 years ago. I didn’t know I still had that mug. Emily thought as she sat down on one of her kitchen chairs.

“Sorry if I’m intruding but after the night we had I figured that both of us could use a pick me up.” Sue placed Emily’s mug infront of her along with some pills and a bottle of water.

“Thank you” Emily mumbled, still very confused about everything. She was, however, very happy about the caffeine in front of her.

Sue took the seat farthest away from Emily and fiddled with her thumbs as she quietly sipped her water.

“Look Emily about last night-“

“It was a mistake” Emily finished now facing Sue. “It was a drunken mistake that should’ve never happened. You're in a relationship with Austin. And what happened last night was stupid and should never happen again.” Emily finished as nervously swallowed the lump in her throat.

“Oh thank god.” Sue exhaled, releasing the breath she didn’t realize she was holding. “I feel the exact same way. What happened last night was just an awful drunken moment that neither of us should have ever done.” Sue said as she got up from her seat.

“How about we just forget it ever happened. I would hate for this to ruin our potential friendship.” Sue asked as she put glass into the sink.

“Y-Yeah sure” Emily responded trying to fight away her disappointment by mentally telling herself that this was for the best.

“Good” Sue smiled as she began walking away.

“I just have um one quick question. What are we gonna tell Austin?” Emily asked, messing with the hem of her shirt. Sue stopped in her tracks

“I-”

Buzz Buzz

Sue left out a huff as she dug in her pocket for her phone.

Lavinia [9:12am]: Wasssuuup bitch! We are all headed to get coffee at 10 and as Austin’s new girl you have to be there. I’ll drop the @ if you're down.

“It’s from Lavinia. Apparently you are all going to get coffee and she wants me to join.” Sue said, putting on her shoes. “It won’t be awkward if I come, will it?” she asked, looking at Emily.

“Nope, not at all.” Emily lied as she watched Sue head towards the door.

“Okay then I’ll see you later.” Sue said as she walked out the door.

Great. Emily thought as she headed upstairs.

-

After a shower and some change of clothes Emily headed to the coffee shop. When she opened the door to the shop that she was drooling over Sue in not even 24 hours ago, Emily easily spotted Austin, George, Mabel, Jane and Sue all sitting at a table with shades on. As if she could sense that Emily was in the room, Sue looked up from her phone and directly at Emily. Even with both of them wearing shades Emily felt like Sue was burning a hole into her soul with her light brown eyes.

“Emily! Over here!” George shouted before being harshly shushed by a borderline passed out Austin.

As if a light switched in the room, Sue broke eye contact with Emily and instead rubbed the top of Austin’s head. Right. Just Friends. Emily reminded herself before putting on a fake smile and walking over to the table.

“Hey, what’d I miss?” Emily asked before choosing the seat furthest away from Sue and ironically, right next to George.

“Well we are all very hungover and Vinnie went to order us coffee-”

“Shush George. God why do you have to be so loud?” Austin groaned, pushing his fallen hair out of his face.

“Hey don’t get mad at me. I’m not the one who dared you to boogie board down the stairwell after taking 6 shots of Tequila.”

“Ugh, just hearing the word Tequila makes me want to barf.” Jane commented slugged over on the table with her hands covering her face.

“And this is why I don’t go to parties.”

“Emily, you don’t go to parties because you hate people, and alcohol, and fun.” Lavinia placed two containers of coffee cups on the table before taking a seat next to Mabel.

“Hey! Only two of those things are true!” Sue let out a little chuckle at the sibling banter before reaching for her own coffee. “How are you so awake after last night?”

“Oh I have a very fast metabolism. That and the fact that I actually paced myself the entire night. Unlike you.”

“I have no idea what you are talking about.” Emily said nonchalantly.

“Oh please I saw you and Sue crushing George and Jane at beer pong.” At the mention of this event, Sue looked up at Lavinia with slight embarrassment.

“It wasn’t that big of a win-”

“No need to be modest Sue. You shot every single one in perfectly. It’s like you have magical hands or something.” Emily choked over the thought of just how magical Sue’s hands really are. Or rather, how good they felt around Emily’s waist as she pinned her to the door or gripping Emily’s throat before licking the salt from her neck.

Emily lightly bit her lip as she tried to suppress her very inappropriate thoughts about the woman sitting only a few chairs away from her. Just when her growing thoughts almost went away, she looked up to see Sue looking at her. And from the look on her face, Sue was thinking about the same thing that Emily was. The tension that almost passed the two was back stronger than ever. So strong that Emily missed Lavinia’s question even though she was right next to her.

“Uh? What’d you say?” Emily asked, turning her attention back to the conversation at hand.

“I asked where you went last night. Usually I can see you trying to sneak out of the party but I didn’t this time.”

“Oh well I uh, you see I was…taking dictation from god.” Emily’s voice shook as her little white lie fell off her lips. To anyone random this would seem highly unlikely but lucky for Emily this was just plausible to be real.

“Ah I see, you snuck off to the roof to write again didn’t you?”

“Uh, you got me! Guilty as charged.” Emily took a deep sigh as her sister fell for her lie. Sue on the other hand knitted her eyebrows together in confusion.

“Emily, could you not use your poet words around Sue? I don’t want you rubbing off on her.” Austin jokingly said now leaning into the effects of the coffee he was almost finished with.

“Poet words?” Sue repeated interestingly.

“Oh yeah, my sister’s a poet.” Lavinia said proudly.

“Well I would love to read some of your poems one day.” Sue smiled at Emily.

“Emily doesn’t really let people re-”

“Of course.” Emily spoke up, gazing into Sue’s eyes.

“But you never let anyone read your poems.” Lavinia pointed out.

“Yeah I once heard you say that your words were meant for ‘nobody’. Whatever that means.” Mabel added.

“Well I’m trying to turn a new leaf.”

“Are you feeling okay?” Lavinia reached over and jokingly placed her hand on Emily’s forehead. “No fever. Maybe you're hallucinating. How many fingers am I holding up?”

“Vinne I’m fine. But maybe you aren’t”

“What do you mean?”

“I mean the plethora of texts that you are getting from Joseph Lyman.” Lavinia’s eyes got wide as she reached over to check her phone.

“Wait. Joseph Lyman as in the fuckboy that I told you to stay away from?” Austin said with a hint of anger in his voice.

“Austin, he's a nice guy!” Lavinia tried to plead her case.

“He’s a man whore! Lavinia, he doesn't want a relationship. He wants a warm body.”

“Well maybe I don’t want a relationship either. Maybe I just want something none exclusive yet romantically intimate between just one person.”

“That’s literally the same thing.” Austin said as Sue’s phone began to ring.

“Shit its my boss. I gotta go. It was nice seeing you all again.” Sue grabbed all of her things and kissed Austin on the cheek before she started to walk out. Right before she was out of sight, she turned back to look at Emily. Sue gave her a wink before she turned away and walked out the door.

“Back to what I was saying. Joseph is no good.”

“Oh my god.” Emily mumbled as she sat and listened to her siblings argue.

-

Once she finished her day, Emily did her nightly ritual…writing at her desk. As the thoughts of Sue roamed in her head. So did the words.

Futile-The Winds- To a Heart in port- Done with the Compass- Done with the Compass- Done with the Chart! Rowing with…

Emily was cut off by her phone buzzing next to her. “Oh for the love of god” She groaned as she reached for her phone. Her annoyance quickly went away when she opened the text message from an unsaved number.

Unknown [12:32 pm]: Hey. Its Sue. I got your number from Lavinia. She said that we should probably be in touch since I’m practically “Part of the family”.

Emily smiled at the message and quickly typed out a response.

Emily[12:33 pm]: Hi :)

Sue[12:33 pm]: Oh hello. I didn’t think you would be up so late.

Emily[12:34pm]: Yeah lol I’m writing.

Sue[12:35]: About what?

Emily took a deep breath in. Reading over her text before sending it.

Emily[12:36]: You

Sue[12:37]: What about me?

Emily took another breath in. This time biting her lip before texting out the thoughts in her mind.

Emily[12:39]: Your lips. How soft they are. Your skin. How smooth it is. You smile. How warm it is. Your hands. How powerful yet calm they feel on me. And Your eyes. How they read into the deepest darkest part of my soul.

Emily waited patiently as Sue typed back. Little bubbles appear then vanish a few times before Sue goes completely silent. Emily scrunched her eyebrows and started thinking the worst. Maybe I went too far. She thought as a minute went by without a response. Oh shit I definitely went too far. Emily quickly began typing out a response saying how sorry she was for what she said. However, right before she could send it she got a call…from Sue.

Emily quickly answered it and took a deep breath before speaking. “Hello?” She spoke into the phone.

“Emily, you can’t just say that.” Emily felt dread enter her body. “And not expect me to feel some type of way about it.”

“W-what do you mean?” Emily cautiously asked into the phone.

“I mean I feel like….like I want nothing more than to kiss you right now.” Sue and Emily exhaled at the same time.

“I feel the same way.” Emily spoke. “I feel like…like my brain and my body are both on fire. God Sue, I don’t know what I’m gonna to do?” Emily got up and flopped hopelessly on her bed.

“Well I think I can help you put out that fire.” Sue said with a low voice.

“Really? How?” Emily asked curiously.

“Are you alone?”

“Yes.”

“What are you wearing?”

“Some baggy shorts and a t-shirt.”

“Good. Take off your shorts.” Following Sue’s command Emily quickly pushed her shorts down fair enough for her to kick them off the bed and on the floor.

“Okay they are off.”

“Now take your hand. And rub your clit.”

Emily bit her lip as her hand slowly creeped down underneath her waist band and on her clit. As soon as her hand made contact with her bud of nerves she moaned softly into the phone.

Taking this as a sign that she followed her instructions, Sue began to speak again. “Go faster.” Emily swallowed before speeding up her hand. Moaning louder at the change in speed.

“S-sue. I need more.” Emily begged into the phone.

“Ask nicely.” Sue demanded.

“Sue please.”

“Okay. Put two fingers inside of yourself and pump slowly.” Emily sharply inhaled as her fingers pushed inside of her wet heat.

“Oh Sue.” She moaned as she started pumping her fingers in and out of herself.

“Do you want more?” Sue asked after a moment of listening to the sound of Emily pumping in and out of her wet pussy.

“Y-yes.” Emily groaned desperately.

“Go faster.”

Obeying another command, Emily pumped her fingers faster. Closing her eyes in pleasure, as she sensed the growing heat in her core forcing her to raise her hips off the bed.

“Curl your fingers and go deeper.” Sue said only this time slowly out of breath.

Emily threw her head back in ecstasy as her orgasm moved closer and closer towards her.

“Shit Sue. I’m close!” Emily shouted as her breath began to pick up.

“M-me too.” Sue groaned through the phone before making one last demand. “Cum with me, Emily.”

As if on instant Emily moaned loudly as her body froze up and her walls clenched around her fingers. A string of curse words spewed from her mouth as the waves of her orgasm crashed throughout her body. If it weren’t for her desperate need to hear more of Sue’s deep moans through the phone Emily would’ve dropped it the minute her orgasm hit. When they both slowly came down from their high, Emily removed her fingers from herself before bringing them up to her mouth to taste. Smiling from her own action Emily took deep breaths to slow down her breathing as they both laid in silence for a few minutes.

“Emily?” Sue huffed out, still slightly out of breath.

“Yeah Sue?” Emily responded.

Sue took a deep breath before letting out a seemingly defeated, “Have a good night.”

“Yeah. You too.” Emily said with slight disappointment in her voice.

When they both hung up, Emily walked over to turn her lights off before climbing back into bed. I’m screwed. Emily thought before taking a deep breath and turning over to her side, falling asleep.

Chapter 3: Brunch

Summary:

Emily goes to brunch and later has an interesting conversation with Sue.

Notes:

Heeeyyy. Remember when I was gone for 10 days and said life was going on? Well, band camp showed me that I only knew the half of it. It was hard. But I'm back (Hopefully for good)! Please enjoy this chapter as it gets steamy real quick. And please forgive any spelling errors as most of this was written at midnight.

Chapter Text

“Mmmmh, Sue.” Emily moaned as Sue kissed her senseless. Emily dug her nails into Sue’s soft brown hair pulled into a ponytail as she grinded down into Emilsy’s pelvis. The delicious sensation of the seam of Emily’s pants rubbing ever so slightly over her clit was enough to make her let out another moan. This time it was captured by Sue’s lips.

“God Emily. You are so beautiful.” Sue whispered into her ear as she moved to kissing Emily’s neck.

Emily rubbed her fingertips down Sue’s naked back. Digging them into the skin when Sue’s muscles contracted with each thrust.

“Fuck,” Emily groaned when Sue reached down into her pants and started rubbing her clit.

When she was sure that Emily was wet enough, Sue pulled down both of their pants and revealed the massive strap on she had. After rubbing it up and down Emily’s wet folds she shoved the 9 inch toy into Emily’s wet core. As she started an unruly pace, Emily wailed at the mixture of pain and pleasure she was receiving from Sue’s harsh thrust.

“Shh. You’re being too loud.” Sue scolded as she reached up to cover Emily’s mouth without stopping her pace.

When Emily’s hips began to start rising off of the bed Sue used her other arm to hold her down. As Emily’s orgasm got closer, Sue started to whisper again in her ear.

“You are mine. You crave passion? I am the one who can give it to you. You crave attention? I can give it to you. I am all you think about. And I’m what you need. Because you? Are. Mine.” With every sentence, Sue went deeper and faster into Emily.

In the distance, a faint sound of ringing entered the room. It roared louder and louder until it consumed the room.

Buzz Buzz

Emily woke up covered in sweat. When she looked over at her phone she saw a call from Lavinia.

“Hello?” Emily said with her voice deep with sleep.

“Hey, can you tell mom that I’m on the way? My book club meeting ran a little late but I am literally going as fast as I can without being pulled over by the police so…”

“Wait. What?” Emily confusingly asked.

“Tell mom that I’m on the way.”

“On the way where?”

“Um, Emily, did you fall and bump your head and forget that today is the first Sunday of the Month?”

“So?”

“So, its brunch day!” Oh shit Emily thought. Emily had been so wrapped up in her affair with Sue that she forgot about Brunch with Lavinia and her mom. Affair? Would you classify what they have as an affair? Emily would definitely have to talk to Sue about that later.

“Oh yeah! I…huh…am actually on my way there. I must’ve zoned out for a minute there but no. I am definitely on my way to brunch with mom. In fact I am rolling up to the place now. I gotta go. Bye!” Emily, now speedily half dressed, rushed to brush her teeth and hair before throwing on her beat up converse and rushing out the door.

-

After almost speeding through only 3 red lights, Emily finally made it to the restaurant. And after surveying the parking lot for her car, also before Lavinia. Emily mentally fist bumped the air as she opened up the door to the restaurant.

Emily smoothed out the end of her dress and fixed her hair in her phone camera as she slowly walked through the crowded room. Emily knows her mom is always a stickler about appearance and Emily would really like to not get scolded for not wearing her yellow floral dress and light jean jacket that she was gifted for Christmas or worse, having wrinkles in it.

“Hey mom, sorry I’m late I overslept my alarm.” Emily said, still looking down at her phone.

“Hi,” Emily stopped in her tracks, almost like that voice had her frozen in place. Why do we always keep meeting like this? Emily groaned in her head as she finally looked up at the voice.

“Hey.” Sue wore a light blue dress with her hair pulled back by a singular brown hair clip. Her soft features shined in the sunlight that came through the window.

“Your mom went to the restroom but you are welcome to sit next to me.” Sue offered, pointing to the empty seat next to her. Emily bit her lip, debating whether or not she should take the seat. Sue sensing this let out a little chuckle, “I don’t bite Emily. At least not in public.”

Emily rolled her eyes in annoyance as she sat down next to Sue. This however seemed to be too far for Sue and she scooched her chair over until they were centimeters away from touching thighs.

“Oh Emily! I’m glad you could make it. Even though you were 5 minutes and 23 seconds late.” Emily’s mom said sitting down in the seat opposite of Emily.

“I’m so sorry I missed my alarm. But hey I beat Vinnie here.” Emily said triumphantly.

“Well at least she responds to my calls. You're lucky I invited someone who shows up on time or I would be very hurt.” Mrs. Dickinson said, looking over at Sue.

“Well my mother did always tell me to be early to everything.” Sue said half jokingly.

“Ah yes well I would love to meet her someday.”

“Actually she’s-”

“Hey guys sorry I’m late.” Lavinia said quickly walking over to the table. “Emily! Wow you were actually on the way. When I called you I assumed that you had like just woken up or something.” Lavinia hug each of the women before sitting down in the seat next to Mrs. Dickinson.

“Yes well I can in fact be on time to some things.”

“Really? When?” Mrs Dickinson asked. Sue let out a little chuckle as Emily searched for an example.

“I..well I-” Emily was cut off by the waiter stopping by the table to ask what they all wanted to eat. Oh thank god Emily internally said releasing her breath she didn’t know she was holding.

As each woman asked what they wanted to eat, Emily tensed as she felt something graze her thigh. When she looked down, she saw that it was Sue’s hand.

“So Emily, how is University going? I assume you are making all A’s?” Mrs. Dickinson asked.

“Well that is a very strong assumption. Um, I’m-” Emily was cut off by Sue's pinky softy drawing shapes into the side of Emily’s half covered thigh. Emily glazed over at Sue to see that she was fully engaged in a conversation with Lavinia. However, right before she looked away, Emily saw a faint smirk on Sue’s face. This bitch Emily thought as she turned her attention back to her mother.

“University is going well. I got a new coffee maker on Tuesday and its…really good.” Emily cleared her throat and reached to take a sip of her mimosa as Sue’s hand rubbed up and down Emily’s thigh.

“Really? What new features does it have?” Mrs Dickinson asked very interested.

“Well it has the uh K cup that’s just really cool.” Sue dug her fingernails into Emily’s thigh before sliding up the hem of Emily’s dress to get better access to the inside of her thigh. Emily swallowed the lump in her throat before continuing her conversation.

“And it has the cold foam machine that’s like you put whatever type of milk you want in there and like press some buttons and..” Sue reached to pull Emily’s panties to the side and slowly rubbed up and down her wet slit. “Boom! C-cold foam” Emily gripped the edge of the table with one hand and her glass in the other as Sue continued her slow movements.

“And the water temperature is just mmh s-so good” Emily bit her lip to keep her moans at bay as she tried to pull herself together. “A-and it c-comes with 3 different k cups. My favorite has to be the GREEN tea ones” Sue pushed two fingers into Emily and slowly pumped her fingers in and out of her. Emily knitted her eyebrows together when Sue curled her fingers inside of her.

“You know I heard that there was a feature where you can choose whether the coffee is strong or not. Does your coffee maker have that feature Emily?” Mrs. Dickinson asked, still completely oblivious to what was going on under the table.

“Um…I uh I’m not sure. B-but I do like strong coffee.” Sue picked up her pace as Emily spoke. As her grip tightened around the table so did her walls around Sue’s fingers as she felt her orgasm rising in her core.

“Oh I bet.” Mrs. Dickinson said with a little chuckle. “You take after your father. When we first met, he spent 2 hours of his day solely drinking coffee!”

When Emily reached her peak, she let out a faint “ah” that shocked even herself. Emily immediately closed her mouth in horror and looked over to see both Sue and Lavinia looking over at her. Lavinia with a confused look on her face and Sue with a shit-eating grin.

“Um..mom that was…so funny!” Emily let out a forced chuckle to sell her lie.

“Yes, well it is the truth.” Mrs. Dickinson proudly commented. Before Lavinia could ask any questions, the waiter popped up with their food. As he passed out the food, Sue removed her fingers from inside Emily and placed her underwear back into place.

“Well would you look at all of this delicious food. You know I should go wash my hands. Ugh I have been using this pencil that gets all over my hands. I will be right back.” Emily quickly fixed her dress before grabbing her purse and getting up from the table.

“Oh, I’ll go with you.” Sue said jumping up.

“NO. I mean…no no you don’t need to do that-”

“Really Emily it’s no problem. I have to use the restroom anyways.” Sue grabbed her bag ready to follow Emily to the bathroom.

“Okay then,” Emily accepted defeat and started walking to the bathroom.

-

When they entered the restroom, Sue quickly checked the stalls before locking the door and walking up behind Emily and kissing her on the neck.

“Mmmh, Sue” Emily let Sue take the lead as she walked her up to the sink before turning around.

“You look so good in that dress.” Sue whispered in Emily’s ear, before picking her up by the back of her legs and placing Emily on the sink.

Emily opened her legs wider, expecting Sue to walk in between her legs but instead she reached up and started slowly pulling Emily’s underwear down.

“Sue, wait wait.” Sue pulled back and looked at Emily in confusion.

“Did I go too far?” Sue asked worriedly.

“No, no it’s just,” Emily let out a sigh before continuing. “My sister and mother are sitting at a table like 40 feet away and I just…We cannot have sex in this bathroom.”

Sue was silent for a moment. Almost like she was thinking.”You're right.” She took a step back before digging in her purse for her phone.

“What are you-” Before Emily could finish her sentence, her phone buzzed in her purse. She pulled it out to see it was an address. “What’s-”

“It’s my address. Come over later. We can finish this then.” Sue responded before walking over to wash her hands before leaving the restroom.

Emily took a deep breath and jumped off the sink. She turned over to see her smeared lipstick and wiped her face quickly before following Sue out of the bathroom.

-

The rest of brunch flew by quickly. Of course after their meeting in the bathroom, Emily couldn’t quite remember much. Well, other than Sue’s hand grazing hers as she said goodbye and headed back to her car. And when she fingered herself in the parking garage of her apartment with the image of Sue fresh on her mind.

After changing her underwear and taking several cold showers, Emily had finally calmed herself down enough to go over to Lavinia’s place for their bi-weekly movie night. Despite her protest, Lavinia chose Magic Mike.

“I just don’t understand how women find male lap dances attractive.” Emily said with a mouth full of popcorn.

“Well of course you wouldn’t understand, you're a lesbian remember?” Lavinia responded.

“Hmm, nah I think even if I was straight I wouldn’t be into it. I mean who likes watching a guy body roll onto their lap?”

“Um, I do. All those abs and chest muscles. Oh they do something to me.” Lavinia fakely fanned herself with her hand.

“Ew, seriously Vinnie? You need to get out more.”

“Oh you’re one to talk, miss ‘My poems are my children’” Emily threw a pillow at Lavinia that she unfortunately caught before sticking her tongue out at Emily. “For real tho Emily. You need to get laid. Like hot one night stand laid. You know I do have this friend-”

“Nope. Aht aht you are not hooking me up with one of your ‘hey mamas’ friends again. I am perfectly capable of pulling someone myself.”

“Really? And when’s the last time you’ve done that?” Before Emily could blurt out her answer, she bit her tongue. Instead choosing silence. “Exactly. Now shush and watch the movie.” Lavinia said before tossing the pillow back at Emily.

-

When Emily returns to her car after leaving Lavinia’s, her sister’s words from earlier float in her head. Maybe she should get ‘laid’ more. Before Sue, Emily can’t really remember the last time she just had random hook ups with someone and just had fun. There was that one time when she drunkenly kissed George at Austin’s Halloween party but even that was years ago. Before she can second guess herself, she sends Sue a message.

Emily [11:06pm]: Hey.

Sue [11:08pm]: Hi.

Emily [11:09pm]: Are you at home?

Sue [11:10pm]: Yes.

Emily [11:12pm]: Are you alone?

Sue [11:12pm]: Yes.

Emily [11:13pm]: Can I come over?

Sue [11:14pm]: Yes.

Emily quickly put Sue’s address into her phone and backed out of the parking lot.

-

When Emily arrived at the door, she started second guessing herself. Maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe she should just turn around and walk away. As she silently debated her decision, the door suddenly opened.

“I was waiting for you to knock but it seemed like you were too busy staring at the door?” Sue said with a smirk on her face.

“Yeah I was uh thinking about something.” Emily said with a big smile on her face.

“Well, care to come in and tell me what it is?” Sue said moving out the way so Emily could walk into her apartment.

“Sure. Why not.” Emily said, walking into her apartment while Sue closed the door.

-

After 4 fantastic orgasms, Sue rolled off of Emily and plopped down next to her on the bed.

“Wow. Is it just me or does that keep getting better?” Emily said out of breath.

“Oh trust me it’s definitely not just you.” Sue said with a chuckle while she reached over her bed to pick up a wooden box. When she opened it, Emily could see a dozen rolled up joints along with a purple lighter. “Do you mind if I?” Sue gestured to the joint in between her fingers as she waited for Emily’s go ahead.

“No at all. But only if you share.” She said turning over to lay on her bare stomach. Emily watched with fascination as Sue stuck the joint in between her lips and lit it. She took a few deep puffs of it before laying back down next to Emily, passing her the joint.

“I didn’t know you smoked.” Emily said after a deep puff herself.

“I don’t. Well not anymore. My old roommate gave me this box as a parting gift when I graduated and I just never finished it. Pros of having a pot head as a roomie I suppose.”

“So what changed?” Emily passed the joint back to Sue who took more deep puffs of it.

“What do you mean?” Sue slowly blew the smoke out before turning her head towards Emily.

“Like why are you choosing now to embrace your inner pothead.” Emily jokingly said.

“I don’t know, I guess I’m just under some stress. I’ve got this like work project that’s low key kicking my ass and I can’t smoke around Austin so…”

“So you chose me? I don’t know if I should be honored or not.” Emily jokingly said.

“Oh not like in a bad way or anything. I just, I feel more alive when I’m with you.” Sue said with her voice barely above a whisper. “Do you feel that way too, Emily?” Sue leaned in until their faces were inches apart.

“I…do.” Emily said truthfully. As Sue slowly brushed their lips together, Emily melted at the feeling. A feeling that was really fucking hard for her to describe. Like her body was set on fire every time they kissed.

“Wait.” Emily said, pulling back from Sue’s intoxicating touch. “What are we doing here? Like I know obviously we have feelings for each other and I don’t want to hurt Austin but I also really don’t want to stop whatever it is we are doing so like what are we?”

“We are just having fun.” Sue responded like it was nothing.

“Fun?” Emily slowly repeated.

“Yeah, we are friends who occasionally sleep with each other. A lot. We have fun.” By this point Sue had put out the joint and placed it back into the box. She slowly moved over until she was rolling Emily on her back and laying on top of her.

“Hmmm. Fun.” Emily hummed as Sue slowly trailed down her body. “I can do fun.” She responded as Sue ended in between her legs.

-

When Emily woke up, Sue was still sound asleep with her hand around Emily’s waist. She slowly removed her hand and sneaked out of bed to find her clothes. Just when she had gotten her pants on, Sue turned to look at her.

“Wow. I didn’t take you for the ‘hit it and quit it’ type.” Sue raspily said, rubbing the crust from her eyes.

“Oh trust me I’m not. I just have a 9 o'clock class that I can’t miss.” Emily said, still trying to pull on her clothes.

“Ah I see.” Sue sat up and used a nearby ponytail to put her hair in a messy bun before walking up behind Emily who was buttoning up her pants. She wrapped her arms around Emily who went stiff. “Are you okay?” Sue asked, turning her body to look at Emily.

“Yeah I’m fine.” Emily said, sinking back into Sue’s arms.

“Then can I ask you a question?” Emily hummed in response, now slowly swaying left and right in Sue’s arms. “Do you regret anything that happened last night?” Sue asked.

“Honestly…no.” Emily said with almost no hesitation. “To be honest I think I was kind of excited. Not in like a weird way but I guess ever since that wet dream I had about you the other day I’ve just been so…wired. And awake.”

“Well you should definitely tell me more about that dream later.” Sue chuckled. “And just so you know, I don’t regret it either.”

“Good.” Emily said confidently.

“Good.” Sue repeated tightening her hold around Emily for a split second before pulling back.

“Well I guess I better go. Text you later?”

“Yeah, sure.” Sue said with a small smile. Before she could second guess herself, Emily gave Sue a peck on the lips and quickly walked towards the door.

That was weird, Emily thought. But a good type of weird. The ‘I want to do that again’ type of weird. Emily bit her lip as she thought about how she suddenly got butterflies in her stomach. However she just blamed it on her being hungry and continued her walk back to her car.

Chapter Text

As soft music played in the background, Emily leaned over on her side to face the warm body next to her. Sue greeted her with a dopey smile that was enough to make Emily burst from the seams. She instead wrapped a leg around Sue’s hip and pulled her close.

“That was insanely hot. I didn’t know you were that flexible.” Sue mumbled into Emily’s neck as she planted kisses on it.

“Yeah well, I’m full of surprises.” Emily pulled Sue in for a heat kiss that made her grind her pelvis down onto Emily’s. “Oh my god. Wait. That’s it!” Emily pulled back from Sue and got out of bed. After searching through her discarded pants, she found what she was looking for. A wrinkled piece of paper and a little black pencil. Sue turned her head to the side and watched with curiosity as Emily climbed back on the bed and started writing.

The world was silent as the words flew from Emily’s brain to the paper in her hands. Words about lust and love danced around the paper until the whole sheet was filled up. As Emily reviewed her writing, Sue moved behind her to hug her waist and lay soft kisses on Emily’s shoulder.

“Do you always do that?” Sue asked after a while.

“Do what?”

“Write like you are about to explode if you don’t?”

“I think I have too. If I don’t the words just…fester in my brain until I do.”

“Hmm” Sue hummed in response.

“Would you like to read it?” Emily asked. Sue just shook her head yes and held her hand out for Emily to place the writing in her hand.

As Sue silently read the poem, Emily fidgeted with the bed sheets below her. So many questions filled her head. What if she doesn’t like it? What if she thinks it’s absolute shit and that I should never write again? What if she hates it and rips it up in front of me? What if she thinks it’s horrible that she laughs in my face? Oh god what if she laughs in my face? When Sue finished reading she looked back at Emily, clearly noting her nervous demeanor.

“So,” Emily started “What do you think?” her voice so soft that it could barely be heard over the music.

“I think that-“ Sue was cut off by the buzzing of both of their phones.

Emily sighed before reluctantly reaching over the edge of the bed to get her phone.

Vinnie [10:30pm]: Guess who’s coming to visit tomorrow?

Vinnie [10:31pm]: Wrong its Hattie!

Sibling No. 1 [10:32pm]: You didn’t even give anyone a chance to answer….

Emily [10:33pm]: Oh who cares.

Emily [10:33pm]: All that matters is HATTIE IS COMING! 🥳

George [10:34pm]: Sue, Hattie is an old friend of the Dickinsons.

Sue [10:35pm]: Thank you George.

George [10:35pm]: 👍

Sibling No, 1 [10:36pm]: Hey watch out pal. Sue’s still my girl so don’t try and pull that nice guy shit.

Vinnie [10:37pm]: Austin trust me, no one is trying to steal Sue from you. Especially since we all know how hard it was for you to get her in the first place.

Sibling No.1 [10:38pm]: HEY WHAT DOES THAT MEAN

Vinnie [10:39pm]: You pulled and Sue is too hot for you.

Mabel [10:39pm]: Yeah I’m going to agree with Vinnie.

George [10:40pm]: Me too

Sibling No. 1 [10:41pm]: I have you know that we are both equally attractive

Vinnie [10:42pm]: Delusional

Sibling No. 1 [10:42pm]: I AM NOT!!!

Emily [10:41pm]: And that’s my cue to leave.

Emily closed her phone and looked back over at Sue. “Well then I guess I better go. It’s my turn to host the get-together for Hattie and there is a high chance that Vinnie will kick down my door early in the morning with decorations.” Emily moved to find her underwear to put on.

“Or you could stay a little bit longer. I would love to talk more.”

“Oh Sue, we both know that if I stayed longer we would do more than talk.”

Sue let out a deep chuckle, “True. But I wouldn’t be opposed either way.”

“And that is exactly why I should go. I’ll text you tomorrow. Just in case you want to come early to help me out with final decoration stuff.”

“Sounds good. Just text me when you get home okay?”

“Okay. Goodnight Sue.” Emily smiled as they both reached the front door.

“Good night Emily.” Before she could second guess herself, Emily gave Sue a kiss on the cheek before turning away and walking to her car.

-

“Number one…or number two?”

“They look the exact same.”

Lavinia let out a frustrated huff of air, “No they aren’t! This one is Sea morning. This one is soapy bathtub water.”

“Why would you even name a color that?”

“You know what, I’ll pick.” Lavinia said moving away from her spot on Emily’s living room floor that was covered with decorations waiting to be put up.

“Fine. I’ll be busy putting up these party streamers.”

For a few minutes, Emily and Lavinia worked in comfortable silence.

“Sooo, how are things with Joseph?” Emily asked nonchalantly. Lavinia just cut her eyes at Emily.

“What’s going on with you?” Lavinia asked Emily.

“What do you mean what’s going on with me? Nothing…nothing is going on.” Emily responded, trying to keep cool.

Lavinia let out a little scuff, “Wow. So we’re lying now?”

“W-what are you talking about?”

“Every time you ask me about my love life, it’s because something in your love life has already happened.”

“Oh really? Give me one example.”

“Okay, when you asked me about how my first ever date went, you were ghosting Kate because she had just told you ‘I Love You’ in the middle of sex.”

“Alright that was just a coincidence-”

“Or how about the time you asked me if I had made a move on my T.A. after you had just slept with a girl who turned out to be the fraternal twin of your ex.”

“Alright that’s-”

“Oh! And that time you asked if I went on a second date with that lawyer who went to school at Stanford. While you were sneaking out of that pilates instructor's house because her husband came home early. That was funny.” Lavinia finished with an amused smile on her face.

“Alright, I get it. I do it a lot. But I can assure you, this time it is purely for my own interest.”

Both of them were pulled out of their banter by three soft knocks at Emily’s door. Emily got off of her step stool and walked to open the door. When she did, she was greeted by Sue wearing a graphic tee and black biker shorts.

“I didn’t know if this was considered ‘welcome back’ party appropriate so I bought a change of clothes and…a sangria because wine makes everything better.” Sue leaned in closer, “That is if we don’t finish the bottle ourselves and have a little bit of fun before everyone else arrives.”

“Hmmm well I can tell you, your thighs look amazing in those shorts.” Emily whispered in Sue’s ear.

“Who’s at the door?” Lavinia shouted from inside the apartment, making both Emily and Sue jump back from each other.

“Uh, it’s Sue. I asked her to come help setup.” Emily moved out the way so Sue could walk into the apartment.

“Oh great! I have to meet with my advisor in an hour so I have to go get ready for that. But, now Sue can help you finish setting up. All you have to do is look at all of the liquor and tell me what is going low so I can go pick some more up on my way back tonight.” Lavinia grabbed all of her stuff and headed towards the door. “Bye guys! Have fun!”

The door closed behind Lavinia before Emily said “And then there were two,” while walking closer to Sue. “You know, we still have an hour before everyone starts showing up.”

“Hmm, I think I have an idea of how to pass the time...”

-

“Ugh fuck Sue!” Emily moaned as Sue brought her to yet another amazing orgasm with her mouth on Emily’s couch. She squirmed as she slowly came down from her orgasm. With little help from Sue, who was busy licking up the rest of Emily’s juices from her last orgasm.

“S-sue I think you got it all.” Emily chuckled out of breath. Sue picked her head up and gave Emily a dopey smile.

“I can’t help it,” Sue gave Emily a long kiss on the lips. “You just taste so good.”

“Hmm. Well according to my watch we have 30 minutes left so we probably should clean up.” Emily moved to get up from the couch but Sue kept her grip on Emily’s hips firm. Preventing her from getting up.

“How about one more round? That way when I talk to all of your friends…I’ll still have your taste in my mouth.”

Emily sharply inhaled as she could feel the heat that was just extinguished inside of her reignite. “You’re trouble. You know that?”

“I try.” Sue responded.

“Well..” Emily barely got out before she was quickly cut off by Sue who quickly began sucking her clit.

She reached out and gripped Sue’s hair that was now falling out of the clip she threw it in before she left the house. Emily quickly ground down on Sue’s face as she picked up her speed. She pressed two fingers into Emily’s now dripping core and pumped them quickly in and out. Emily moaned loudly as she could feel herself reaching the edge.

“Fuck, I’m gonna cum.” Emily shouted as her hips began to lift up into the air.

Just then the faint sound of the door unlocking filled the room followed by a voice.

“Hey Emily! You didn’t come to the door so I just…OH MY GOSH” Emily quickly moved to cover herself with a nearby pillow as Sue put some distance between them. They both stood there in shock with red faces as Hattie looked at them with wide eyes.

“Oh my gosh I am so sorry! I just…I still have your key and…I’m just gonna…” Hattie quickly turned around, closing the door behind her.

Emily and Sue both sat in silence as Emily pulled her underwear and pants back on.

“Fuck.” They said in unison.

-

Sue and Emily remained silent until the guest arrived. Only looking in each others direction when Emily passed Sue a beer from the fridge. Emily kept busy by pretending to look for something in the pantry until Lavinia came up and tapped her on the shoulder.

“Hey, why are you being all anti-social?”

“I’m not being anti-social. I’m just…looking for the limes.”

“In the pantry?” Before Emily could respond there was a knock at the door.

“I should go get that.” Emily said, walking towards the door. When she opened it, she was greeted by Hattie.

“Oh, hello again. Nice to see you. Fully clothed this time.” Emily winced as she moved to the side, letting Hattie in.

Shouts of hello entered the room when they realized that Hattie was there.

“Wow. Another surprise party? You guys shouldn’t have.” Hattie put on a shocked face to sell what she was saying.

“Oh please, you knew it was coming. But thank you anyways for acting surprised.” Lavinia walked up to Hattie and gave her a quick hug.

“Well you know I love a good Dickinson Family surprise party. But you know what I love more?” The three woman slowly walked to where the rest of the group was in the kitchen area.

“Oh I’m way ahead of you, we have a half empty bottle of tequila, a bottle of sangria, a full bottle of vodka and like 4 beers left. I would’ve gotten more but somebody forgot to text me and let me know what she was low on in the alcohol department.” Lavinia side eyed Emily who just gave a shoulder strug.

“Well anything will help my jet lag.” Hattie said with a smile.

“Um actually, can I talk to you over there for a second?” Emily asked, guiding Hattie to the couch area.

“Look I already know what this is going to be about and I just wanted to say that I am so sorry for bursting in like that. I just…I still have your key from last year when you told me that knocking was useless because you’re never going to be ‘fucking a supermodel on the kitchen counter’..”

“Shit, I did say that didn’t I?”

“Yeah, and when Vinnie said the party was starting at 8:30 I thought she meant like white people 8:30 which is really 8:15 and I thought with traffic I was going to be late but it was actually like empty on the road and…”

“Hattie, it's okay. I’m the one who is sorry. I uh didn’t expect to be so..occupied for that long of time.”

“Speaking of occupied, who is miss perfect? I mean she literally looks like she just walked out of a Ralph Lauren catalog. Or like one of those period commercials where the girls are like doing backflips and break dancing and we’re just magically supposed to believe that their pad stayed in place throughout that entire choreographed dance routine.”

Emily let out a little chuckle, “Well um ,funny story, She’s actually uh..”

“Hey hey hey! Who’s having a party without me?” Austin busted through the door still wearing his work clothes.

“Ah Austin! Where the hell have you been? The party started an hour ago?” Hattie walked over to Austin to give him a short hug.

“Ah well you know work waits for no man.”

“I see you’ve been spending more time around Emily.”

“Haha, very funny.” Emily rolled her eyes as she took her turn hugging her brother.

“Oh Hattie, I wanted to introduce you to somebody very important. Sue! Come meet Hattie!” Emily froze in spot as Austin waved Sue over towards where the three of them were standing by the door.

When Sue walked over she quickly glanced at Emily before moving to the side of Austin. Austin wrapped his arm around Sue lovingly while giving her a kiss on the cheek.

“This lovely lady is my girlfriend, Sue.” Hattie's eyebrows frowned together before shooting up in the air with surprise as she slowly put two and two together in her head.

“Girlfriend.” She repeated in shock before quickly turning her face back to her regular friendly demeanor. “Wow. Girlfriend. You are Austin’s Girlfriend.” Hattie reached out her hand and gave Sue a quick handshake. “It’s uh nice to meet you.”

“Likewise. I’m uh Sue by the way.”

Hattie turned her attention to Emily who was busy avoiding eye contact with her. “You know, Emily. I totally forgot but could you, lend me a pad. I got my period yesterday and forgot to bring one with me today.”

“Y-yeah. Yeah sure.”

-

“Emily Dickinson, you better explain what the hell is going on.” Hattie whispered as the door to Emily's room closed behind her.

“Okay, okay. It’s not what it looks like.” Emily whispered back.

“Really, because it looks like I just caught you getting eaten out by Austin’s girlfriend like 2 hours ago.” Hattie now whisper shouted at her.

“Okay so maybe it’s kind of what it looks like.” Hattie let out a frustrated sigh. “But, you have to believe me when I say, I didn’t mean for all of this to happen. In my defense we were both really drunk the first time we hooked up.”

“Well obviously that didn’t stop her from sticking her tongue inside of you earlier.”

“Uh god can you not say it like that?” Emily winced.

“Oh I’m sorry, how would you like for me to say that you are sleeping with your brother’s girlfriend, Emily? This is bad! I mean like Riverdale musical episode bad.”

“I know, I know. I just…I feel so safe with her. And I mean yes the sex is really good,” Hattie let out a quick ‘oh my god’ before Emily continued. “But, I don’t even think it’s about that anymore. She…understands me, Hattie. In a way that I’ve never experienced before. She makes me want to write about her all the time. I don’t know I just…I’m in over my head but I…I like her.” Emily whispered in the air.

“Damnit Emily. Look although this is so fucked up, I’m not going to tell Austin.”

“You’re not?”

“No, but after you figure out your feelings and shit for Sue, you need to tell him. Soon. Before things get worse.”

Emily let out a sigh of relief, “thank you, Hattie. I mean really, thank you.”

“Yeah well, don’t thank me yet. You know I get all weird when I have to hold a secret. Remember when I caught you and Penny Blanchet making out under the bleachers in 8th grade?”

“Ugh, that was a dark time for the both of us.” They both let out a chuckle as they remember their awkward teenage years.

“Hey Emily! Is your counter flammable?” A tipsy Lavinia shouted from the kitchen.

“We should probably head out there before my sister burns down my apartment.”

“Yeah.”

-

Lavinia sat on the floor of the living room along with Hattie while Austin and Sue took the love seat and George, Mable, and Jane sat on the couch. Emily opted to sit on the little seat across from Sue and Austin

“Okay okay, Never have I ever…kissed a man.” Lavinia said before downing her shot along with everyone except for George and Austin.

“Never have I ever kissed a woman.” Hattie said next. Emily took her shot first along with George and Austin. However, before George could go next, Sue quickly glanced at Emily before downing her shot.

“Woah. Way to go Sue.” George said high fiving Sue. Austin looked curiously over at Sue who has yet to make eye contact with him.

“Really. You kissed a girl. When?” He asked.

“Oh just…someone from college.” Sue responded as she refused to make eye contact with Emily.

“Do I know her?”

Sue shook her head, “No.”

“Okay never have I ever…had sex in public.” Lavina, Sue, Hattie, and Emily took a shot.

“Really, was this the same girl from college?” Austin asked again. This time Sue just glance at Emily.

“Uhh…Why don’t we change the subject.” Lavinia butted in. “Never have I ever…stolen dad’s corvette to impress a girl.” Austin embarrassingly took his shot.

“Woooooww. And who was this mysterious woman?” Sue teased.

“Okay okay fair enough. We both have had very interesting relationships in the past.” They both refilled their shots before clicking them together. Austin kissed Sue on the cheek as she leaned back into him.

Emily felt a bit of irritation building up in her. As she glanced over at Austin and Sue she felt it rise more. Emily desperately tried to pull herself out of her head. What am I thinking? She asked herself. Austin and Sue are a couple. This is what couples do. In between her mental monologue, she looked over to see Hattie cutting her eyes at her. Almost like she could read Emily’s mind. Emily broke eye contact as she took a deep sigh before refilling her own shot glass.

“Who’s next?”

So as always sit back, relax, and turn on that fan bestie because things are getting messy!

Chapter Text

Emily stood in the mirror observing her new outfit: One of Sue’s oversized t-shirts and shorts that were slightly too big for her. Normally by this time, she would be back in the safety of her own home, chowing down on a bagel while reading the daily newspaper. However, when she woke up to an empty bed and the sweet smell of bacon wafting from the kitchen, she made an exception.

After deciding to leave her hair in a very messy bun, Emily tiptoed out of the bedroom. She stopped in her tracks when she saw Sue standing over by the stove with her back to Emily. Even in baggy pants and a white tank top, Emily thought Sue looked breathtaking.

Although she would deny it if you asked her, Sue was in her personal little bubble. humming a song. As Emily walked closer, she chuckled as she realized it was the chorus to I Feel It Coming by the Weekend. Sue tensed and let out a gasp as Emily wrapped her arms around Sue’s waist and kissed her on the neck.

“Good morning.” She mumbled into Sue’s neck.

“Jesus Emily, you scared me,” Sue let out a sigh as she melted into Emily’s arms for a minute before turning around to face her. An unreadable expression took over Sue’s face as she gave Emily a once over. Emily tilted her head to the side in a curious manner.

“What?” She asked catching the change in Sue’s demeanor immediately.

“Nothing. It’s just…this is my first time seeing you in my clothes.” Sue licked her lips as she gazed at Emily’s smooth legs that looked perfect in her shorts.

“Oh. I’m sorry for not asking.” She said tugging at the hem of the t-shirt. “I can take it off if you want?” Emily took a step closer to Sue, successfully pinning her in between the front of her body and the back of the stove.

“Uh, n-no no it's okay. If this is how you’re gonna look in all of my clothes, then you can borrow them anytime.” Sue pulled Emily in by the hips, “besides, if you take off those clothes…..I’m definitely gonna burn breakfast.” Emily let out a chuckle as she wrapped her arms around Sue’s neck to give her a peck on the lips.

“Speaking of, I may have made too much food for just me to eat. Maybe if you don’t have to run out of here like the flash, you could join me?”

“Well I do like bacon and eggs so…..fill me up a plate Gilbert!”

“Okay, but don’t blame me if my cooking is up to par.”

“Oh don’t worry, I can’t even cook toast. The last time I tried, Vinnie got the number of the fire marshal that showed up 20 minutes later.” Sue just left out a little heart warming chuckle that was music to Emily’s ears. “I’m serious! I even have the photos to prove it!”

-

“Oh my god. You weren’t kidding!” Sue giggled as she looked at the photo of a disappointed Emily in front of a fire truck with Lavinia in the back on Emily’s left, handing her phone to a firefighter.

“I told you. I was distraught by my accidental fire while Vinnie was flirting it up with Mr. Mustache.” Emily let out a chuckle that quickly turned into a deep groan as she took her first bite of food. “Damn Sue! This is really good.” Emily looked up to see Sue’s eyes slightly darkened at the groan of approval that came from Emily’s mouth. Unfortunately as quickly as she saw it, it went away.

“Uh, thank you.”

Emily took another bite of her perfectly fluffy eggs “Okay seriously Sue, where did you learn how to cook like this?”

“Well it's amazing what you can learn when your sister practically raised you.” Emily felt a question bubbling inside of her. As if Sue could read her mind, her expression turned suddenly serious as she continued, “My father passed before I was born. And my mother, she died when I was 13. So, to avoid me going into foster care, my sister took over as my legal guardian. For a 19 year old who had no idea how to raise a teenager, she did a pretty good job. I used to have her cook breakfast for me everyday before school. Then one day she got tired of cooking and taught me how to do it myself.” A sad smile grew on Sue’s face, “I miss her a lot. I mean she taught me things that I still use today. Hence my amazing cooking skills.”

As Emily listened to Sue’s story, her heart ached. Sue had been through so much and Emily wanted nothing more than to protect her precious heart.

Sue took a deep sigh, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to trauma dump on you.”

“No, don’t be sorry.” Emily wanted to say so much more. To tell Sue that she is so strong for everything she has been through. To tell her that she is the most beautiful soul that Emily has ever seen. But even those words would never be enough. Emily instead settled on reaching out to place her hand on top of Sue’s. She caressed the top of Sue’s hand as they sat in silence for a while. Nothing but the sounds of them enjoying each other’s company filling the room.

Neither of them let go until the sound of Sue’s phone ringing entered their space. She slowly let go to check her phone. “Hello?….Yes well….But sir, today’s not my day off….I….Yes sir….Thank you so much……..Okay I promise…You have a good day too.” Sue hung up the phone and looked at Emily with a smile on her face.

“Who was that?” Emily curiously asked.

“That was my boss. Apparently I have too many vacation days left in the year and since they don’t transfer over next year, he told me to not come in today.”

“Oh? Well that’s exciting.”

“Yeah, I’ve been meaning to go shopping lately so I guess I’ll get it done today.”

“You know, I don’t have class today…if you want some company.”

“Emily Dickinson, are you asking to hang out with me outside of the safety of a bedroom.”

“As a matter of fact, Susan Gilbert, yes, I am.”

“In that case, I would love to have some company.”

-

“So, Sue, where do we start?” Emily asked as they walked through the doors of the mall.

“Hmmmm. I’ve been meaning to get new shoes.” Sue smirked.

“Well then, lead the way!”

-

7 stores and one drink stop later, Emily and Sue started to whine down as they walked out of another store with a new bag in each of their hands

“Okay I definitely went over my budget.” Sue said looking over the mass of bags in her hands.

“Well in the wise words of my mother,” Emily cleared her throat and straightened her posture to look exactly like her mother. “One outfit? That’s following the trend. But two outfits? That’s being the trend.” Sue let out a chuckle at Emily’s terrible imitation of her mother.

“Wow you suck at imitations. They’re almost as bad as your drink choice.”

“Hey! You can’t go wrong with coffee.”

“You can when you add 2 shots of espresso and 1 flimsy scoop of sugar.

“Yeah well I like my coffee order. It’s better than getting something basic like a caramel macchiato.”

“At least my drink is something people have heard of before. I mean the barista asked you if you were okay after you finished ordering.”

Emily giggled as she remembered the concerned look on the poor barista’s face. “Fair enough. But I bet I have better taste in movies.” She challenged, looking over at Sue.

“Oh, no no no, I know what you are trying to play at and you will not know what my favorite movie is.”

“Why not?” Emily asked with false innocence.

“Because when I tell you, you are going to recommend that we go back to my place and ‘watch it’. Which will lead to us getting like 20 minutes into the movie before you fuck me on the couch. And no offense Emily, but I would like to feel my legs at work tomorrow.”

Although Sue was right, Emily wouldn’t admit it and instead denied what Sue said by scoffing offendedly. “Yeah well you were wrong. In fact I don’t want to know anymore.” Emily crossed her arms and faced front.

After about 20 seconds of silence, Sue gave in. “Okay. I’ll tell you. But you have to promise that you won’t make fun of me.”

“Sue. I promise on all of my poems ever created that I won’t laugh.” Emily crossed her heart with her empty finger before looking back at Sue.

“Okay. It’s….How to Train Your Dragon.” Silence fell over the both of them as Emily rolled her lips in to prevent her from busting out in laughter.

“Wow. That was…not what I was expecting.”

“Ugh, I know it’s like really random and weird but I have a reason for it.” Sue took a deep breath as she began to tell her story. “It was the last movie my mom took me and my sister to go see in theaters. She used to do this thing where every Friday when she got paid, she would take me and my sister to the movies. I saw the trailer for the movie and just knew that we had to go see it. And while I knew my mom hated it, she still took us to see it. I guess ever since then, I haven’t seen a better movie.”

“That’s so sweet. Nicer than my parents.” Sue looked over at Emily as she waited for her to continue. “For them, it was all about making sure that we made the best stories to gloat about at the next dinner party. My mother for example wanted Lavinia and I to become these homey and loving housewives like she did. And my dad, to be honest I don’t think he ever really cared about what I did with my life after I turned 18. Now Austin, he practically begged him to go to law school so he could eventually take over at his firm. And my mom treats him like he’s the reincarnation of Jesus himself. But me and Lavinia? Nah. I guess that’s why I always liked stories about tragedy and heartache. They reflected feelings of sorrow and want that the world has. That I have.”

Sue let out a gasp when Emily looked back at her. Emily frowned her brows at the look on her face. It was like there was something behind those eyes that Emily couldn’t see. It was fear, lust and understanding hidden under an unknown feeling in the shape of an unmovable object. Just as Emily dared to move it, Sue broke eye contact and cleared her throat.

“So, what’s your favorite movie?”

“Easy. The Rocky Horror Picture Show.” Emily proudly said.

“Woah. Didn’t know I had a rocky fan on my hands. ‘Great Scott’ I right?” Sue joked.

“Hold on, you’ve seen that movie too? I thought only like people in their 40’s remember that.”

“Okay ouch, first off I’m only two years older than you. And second off, people below 40 still watch Rocky Horror. In fact, when I first moved here, I worked part time at this movie theater that does screenings of Rocky Horror during the month of September every year. I stopped working there when I graduated but I still go back and volunteer whenever I can.”

“Hmm, well I guess I should stop by sometime. It would be nice to see where the great Sue Gilbert hangs out at.”

“You know…if you really want to see my hangout places, you should go out with me tonight. That is if I haven’t bored you to death already.”

Emily stopped to throw her drink away before turning to walk up to Sue. She smiled at her as Emily could tell how hard Sue was trying not to care about how Emily would respond. “You just can’t get enough of me huh?” She whispered in Sue’s ear before chuckling. “You know what? Sure. I would love to.”

“Great! I guess you probably want to go home and change before we do. I mean don’t get me wrong, I love how you look in my clothes but this doesn’t really scream night on the town.”

Emily put an offended hand on her chest, “Sue Gilbert I am hurt. But you’re right. I do need a little makeover.”

-

Emily stared at the pile of clothes on her bed in defeat. How does she manage to have so many pieces of clothes and none of them scream ‘I’m ready to go out and have fun but also make out in the bathroom five minutes after we arrive’? She considered wearing the dress that she wore to Austin’s party but she refused to be an outfit repeater this early in their relationship. Relationship? It’s that what she should call it? She knew that she liked being with Sue but what if all Sue wanted from Emily was…fun?

Emily shook herself out of her head before picking a tight black crop top that she knew showed her slightly toned stomach and a pair of high waisted light jeans that showed off her ass.

After throwing on a pair of cream colored adidas that added an inch to her height, Emily gave herself a once over in the mirror. After deciding to pull down her crop top to reveal a little more of her cleavage, Emily heard a knock at her door. When she opened it, she was greeted by the sight of Sue wearing a purple button up with black slacks. The outfit was topped off with black loafers, a leather jacket, and a mess of golden rings.

“Wow. You look amazing.” Sue said as she looked Emily up and down.

“Speak for yourself. You look amazing.” Sue blushed and looked down at herself.

“It’s just something from my closet. Nothing special.”

“Nonsense. You look beautiful.” Emily closed her door behind her before wrapping her arm and Sue’s. “So, where are we going?”

“Well, there’s this little hole in the wall bar I go to that has amazing music and cheap drinks. I think you will enjoy it.”

“Hmm, lead the way!”

-

When they arrived at the bar, Emily and Sue both walked over to the bar. Emily looked around at the place in awe. Unlike all of the other fast pacing bars that Emily was constantly being dragged to by her friends, it was calm. Everybody seemed to be taking their time and enjoying life. Something that Emily longed to see.

“So, what do you think so far?” Sue asked in Emily’s ear.

“Oh definitely. The vibe in this place is just amazing.”

“I know right? Wait until you taste the drinks. That is if I can ever get the bartender’s attention.”

“How did you find out about this place?” Before Sue could answer, someone called her name.

“Sue?” A tall tanned man with short black hair moved behind the bar until he was face to face with Sue.

“Oh my gosh, Ben?” The bartender, Ben, practically threw himself over the bar to embrace Sue in a bear hug.“What the fuck are you doing here!” He jokingly shouted at Sue.

“Bitch I could ask you the same thing! I thought you didn’t work weekends.”

“Oh I don’t. But Steve’s birthday is coming up and I want to get him something special. Hence why I took an extra shift.” For the first time since he walked over towards them, Ben made eye contact with Emily before looking back over to Sue with a knowing smile. “Back to my question, what are you doing here?”

“Um well, I wanted to show Emily one of my favorite spots to hang out. Speaking of, Emily this is Ben, one of my closest friends. And Ben, this is Emily. My uh” Sue cleared her throat before continuing. “Emily.”

If Ben noticed the stutter in Emily’s voice, he didn’t acknowledge it. Instead he reached over and offered a handshake to Emily which she took. “Soft hands. Yet strong fingers. Let me guess, you’re a writer?”

“I am. How did you know?”

“I’ve dated a writer once or twice. Very dramatic but also great flirters.”

“That we are.” Emily let out a chuckle as Ben turned back to Sue.

“You know I haven’t seen you in forever. I know you’re like some big shot business woman now but damn. Don’t forget about us little folks.”

Sue rolled her eyes, “You are so dramatic it’s been two weeks.”

“Two very long weeks. What do you think, Emily?” Ben turned to Emily who was not expecting to be in the middle of their banter.

“Um”

Before Emily could respond, Sue put a protective arm around her. “Stop terrorizing the poor girl. Emily, you don’t have to answer.”

“No its fine. I think that time means something different to some people. Two seconds can feel like an eternity to one person while 1 hour can feel like 1 second to another.”

“Damn, that is some deep shit. Emily, I’d like to buy you a drink. What’s your poison?” Ben moved around the bar prepared to take her drink order. “How about a vodka martini? Dry and stirred.”

“Make it two.” Sue added before Ben turned to make their drinks. “Look at you. Impressing my friends. I guess I should take you out more often.”

Emily knew that it was a joke, but the thought of hanging out with Sue never failed to excite her.

“Here you go.” Ben placed both drinks down in front of them. “Emily, as promised your drink is on the house. Sue however will have to pay.”

“Wow. After everything we have been through?” Sue said with fake sadness. Ben however just flipped her off before walking away.

“So, what are we drinking too?” Emily asked, raising her glass.

“To making new friends and getting to know each other a little better.” The soft smile that Sue gave Emily made her want to melt on the spot.

“I’ll drink to that.”

-

After two rounds of shots, Sue had effectively pulled Emily out to the dance floor. They laughed and danced to the upbeat song that they soon realized was a cover of Hard Times by Paramore.

With the rush of alcohol in her system, Emily had no shame in dancing without a care to the music. Sue, who was directly in front of her, laughed as Emily started doing the sprinkler. Emily just shrugged her shoulders before continuing her dancing.

They danced carefree until the band announced their last song which happened to be a slow song. As the intro to I Could Imagine by Alina Baraz played from the band, Emily looked around her as couples started to make their way to the dance floor with their partners. Noting that it was probably time to leave, Emily turned back around to Sue expecting her to say that they should leave.

However, Sue just held her hand out for Emily to take. She gave a small smile as Emily took her hand and moved to the embrace. Unclear about what to do with her hands, Emily stood there for a minute before Sue got her message and moved to place Emily’s hands around her neck before placing her own around Emily’s waist.

Emily gave a little chuckle before she quietly said, “Sorry. Slow dancing is not my thing.”

“Oh don’t worry, you just need a little practice.” Sue spun Emily around so that she was facing the band.

“Okay, you are going to have to tell me later where you learned how to dance like that.”

Sue snorted, “Maybe some other time.”

Emily felt her heart rate increase as Sue pulled her in closer. So close that their chests were almost touching. “Why does my heart beat so fast when I’m with you?” Emily said so quickly that she didn’t even realize the words came from her mouth.

“Why does mine? I feel like I've known you forever. Like you have always been with me. It’s that crazy?”

“No.” Emily asked truthfully. She was so destructed by looking at Sue’s lips that she didn’t even realize that she was leaning in.

They were so close that all she could feel Sue's breath on her lips. All she had to do was lean in a bit more and-

The sound of a glass breaking near the bar drew them both back to reality and they pulled back from each other.

“Maybe we should get out of here.” Sue suggested already pulling Emily towards the door

“Oh, okay.”

-

Despite their initial rush to get out of the bar, the rest of their night was full of taking their time. It started first as they were walking to Emily’s apartment. Due to the chill of the night air, Sue gave Emily her jacket as they walked and talked about nothing. Anything to feel the gap of time.

Then when they got to Emily’s apartment, instead of rushing to the bedroom like they usually did, Emily turned on the kettle and they had a cup of tea as they played with each other's hands while sitting at the kitchen island.

And when they did eventually move to the bedroom, they took their time undressing each other. After every single piece of clothing was removed, A soft kiss was placed on the newly exposed skin.

Sue took her time licking up every inch that Emily was willing to give. And Emily hooked onto every moan, every hip trust, every grab at her arm, and every time Sue called her name into the night.

When everything was said and done, they fell asleep in a deep embrace. Knowing that things between them have officially changed

Notes:

Sooooo, what do you think? Ik it was a lot of fluff but I figured these two needed a chance to enjoy the calm before the storm ;). As always comments and kudos are always welcome. (Like I said before I live for those comments.)

Chapter Text

Vinnie [6:30pm]: Guess who has two thumbs and just convinced mom and dad to let us use the lake house for all of next week!

Emily [6:31pm]: George?🤨

Sibling No. 1 [6:31pm]: No way they actually said yes

Vinnie [6:31pm]: Way Austin. Way. Also haha very funny Emily😐

Sue [6:32pm]: Well not to be a party pooper but some of us have jobs that we can’t just drop to go hang out at a lake house.

Vinnie [6:32pm]: oh please. Emily doesn’t show up to class a good 60% of the time, Austin is his boss’s favorite, George is basically his own boss, Hattie is still on vacation, I have no idea what the hell Mabel and Jane do all day, I am going on an early mental health break, and Sue, you don’t strike me as someone who takes off of work a lot so I’m pretty sure you have enough vacation days to take off one little tiny week.

Sue [6:33pm]: Okay first off, ouch you did not have to read me so hard and second off…..far point.

Vinnie [6:33pm]: Great! I already texted Hattie and she said she’s down along with Jane and Mabel so all we need is for George to be in and we are set!

George [6:34pm]: yeah sure I’m in

Vinnie [6:34pm]: Yaayyyyy! We leave at 8 am sharp on Sunday so make sure you guys are all packed. This is going to be so much fun!

In a separate message center with just Emily and Hatttie:

Hattie [6:35pm]: Are you sure this is a good idea? Being in one house with everyone. I mean with your whole situation with Sue and everything. Especially since you haven’t told Austin?

Emily [6:36pm]: Hattie it’s not like we will be spending a week in a small cottage

Hattie [6:36pm]: Ik but still. Word travels fast in small environments, Emily.

Emily [6:36pm]: Well Sue and I know how to control ourselves. I mean we are mature grown women. I’m pretty sure we can handle being in a cabin with each other for a week and not have sex everywhere. Trust me Hattie. What’s the worst that could happen?

Notes:

And that’s it! Let me know your predictions about what’s about to go down at the lake. Hint: Someone new will be introduced 😈. As always comments and kudos are always welcome. (I still live for each comment. Especially, @Iluvthefallout, I see you out here writing paragraphs😉)

Chapter Text

“Bro where the hell is Lavinia?” Austin looked at his watch to see that it was 8:45 exactly. He was leaning on the hood of this car with his arm around Sue. To the left, Jane and Mabel were leaning uninterested on their own car while Hattie leaned on the wall next to both of the cars.

“Yeah wasn’t it her idea to leave at 8 am sharp?” Sue questioned.

“She’s not even here!” Emily threw her hands up looking at the empty parking lot of her sister’s apartment complex from her spot on the top of Austin’s car.

“She has 30 seconds until I am literally leaving without her.” Jane said, already heading inside her car.”

“Wait here she is.” Mabel shouted at the car zooming into the parking lot.

As the car slowed to a stop, both George and Lavinia hopped out of the car. “Sorry we are late,” George began as he started moving his luggage out of the back seat and to the trunk. “Lavinia had to say a very very long goodbye to-“

“An old friend!” Lavinia said cutting George off. Emily hopped down from the car and walked over to Lavinia. As she got closer, she could see a spot on Lavinia’s neck that looked strangely like a hickey that was only half covered up by foundation.

“Really, an old friend. What’s their name?” Austin asked obliviously.

“Well….um…Why are we wasting time talking when we need to get on the road!” Lavinia quickly hopped into the car and started the engine.

Emily side eyed her quickly before hopping in the front seat. Before George jumped into the back seat, Emily reached over and patted the foundation on her neck to cover the rest of Lavinia’s hickey. “Next time, make sure you cover the whole thing before leaving.”

“Alright ladies, let's hit the road!” George hopped into the back seat with a smile on his face.

Before they pulled away, Lavinia looked over to Emily and mouthed thank you. Emily in return mouthed back of course as they pulled out of the parking garage and onto the open road.

-

By the time they reached the cabin it was already dark. Yet that didn’t stop Emily from running out the car and to a tall tree that stood a few feet away from the house. When she reached it, Emily wrapped her arms around the tree.

“Who would’ve known that the Great Emily Dickinson is a literal tree hugger.” Sue said as she watched Emily talk to the tree like it was an old friend.

“Oh trust me, she’s not. The only nature Emily liked growing up was the fights that went on between the PTO moms at Austin’s football games.” Lavinia chuckled. “That’s just where her favorite squirrel lived. What did she name him again?”

“Poe. After Edgar Allen Poe.” Austin said as he walked closer to the girls who observed Emily as she walked back to the group.

“Poe says hi. And that Austin’s shirt makes him look like Bumper from Pitch Perfect” Emily said looking down at Austin’s outfit.

“Well jokes on him because I liked Pitch Perfect.” Austin replies with a frown.

“I didn’t. That Emily girl was giving us a bad rep.” Emily cringes as she remembers the rip off scene from Pitch Perfect 2.

“Anyways let’s go help George get the bags out before he breaks his back.” Lavinia stated as she looked over to see George struggling to pull an overstuffed suitcase up the front steps.

“Jane what the hell did you put in here? We’re only going to be here for a week!” George grunted.

“I know, that’s why I packed light!” Jane shouted back.

-

As everyone started to settle into the house, Lavinia and Austin both ran up stairs to fight over the master bedroom.

“I’m the oldest so I should get it.” Austin started as he tried to block Lavinia from entering the bedroom.

“Well I was the one who thought of the trip to begin with so I should get it.” Lavinia fought back as she tried to elbow him out the way.

“Oh yeah? I am the one in a committed relationship so I should get it!”

Emily lost interest very quickly in the argument and decided to drop her bag outside of the bedroom next to the masters. She then decided to walk downstairs and check out the dock.

Even in the dark, the view was still a sight to see. Emily smiled as she reminisced on the days where she would play Marco Polo and Tag with her siblings in the water. She chuckled as she remembered the time Austin let Lavinia win in an epic Marco Polo battle because she had yet to win one. It was moments like these that Emily wished she could swim in forever. Harmless ones of innocent and carefree minds. Something that she yearned for today. Especially as she was starting to realize just how complicated things have become with Sue.

Instead of sneaking out in the early mornings of the day while Sue was asleep, Emily found herself staying and waiting for Sue to wake up. They had lunch together often and even when they weren’t together, each of them said good morning and good night to each other. It’s becoming too real. Too much like a relationship. Too much like something that will hurt her when Sue leaves.

That’s what scares Emily the most. The fact that she knows that regardless of what happens, someone will get hurt and leave. And while it hurts her, Emily knows it will be Sue who ends up hurt.

Emily lets out a heavy sigh as she pushes those thoughts to the back of her mind. After she brings herself back to reality, she takes in the view of the lake. Going by house to house with her eyes, Emily notes everything that has changed since the last time she was here. The Wilsons got a new boat, the Smith’s changed their outdoor decor, the next door neighbors…

Emily’s eyes grow wide as she looks at the scene in front of her. One of the next door neighbors apparently likes to go for night swims……Naked. Emily’s mouth quite literally falls open as she gazes upon a figure that climbs out of the water. Under the lamp at the end of the deck, Emily can see what looks like a woman around her age with deep blonde curls that flow soaked down her back. Her tan skin glows in the warm light as it bounces off her. As she reaches down to grab her towel, Emily can see the toned muscles of her stomach flex.

She can’t describe what it is but Emily feels a pull towards her. One that only increases when the woman looks up to see Emily staring at her. Emily expects the woman to scream in fear and try to cover herself up but instead, she just grows a smirk and waves at her. When her blue eyes meet Emily’s, Emily feels something stir inside of her. She can’t tell if it’s fear or excitement but this doesn’t stop her from trying to find it out. Despite her brain telling her to stop looking and walk away, her body stays put in its spot. Like this woman has control over Emily.

“Emily…..EMILY.”

Emily is snapped out of her trance and turns around to see Lavina who is standing right behind her.

“I said Austin and I figured out the room arrangement. Turns out there were two rooms with their own personal bathroom so I gave Austin the master bedroom and I took the spare. It’s crazy that we never noticed that. I guess mom and dad did a really good job at hiding that.”

“Oh, t-that’s good Vinnie.”

“What are you looking at because you seemed very interested in it if you couldn’t even hear me.” Lavinia tried to peek over Emily’s shoulder.

“Oh, I um was just looking at..” When Emily turned around, she took a deep breath as she looked over to see that the woman who was previously on the dock was gone. “View. I was looking at the view. You know. Sometimes being back here brings back memories.”

Lavinia let out a sigh, “Yeah, It does. Did you know that I almost cried when I saw my old Nial doll sitting in my old room. Oh speaking of rooms, here you go.” Lavinia grabbed Emily’s hand and placed ear plugs in them. “I noticed that you chose the bedroom that shares a wall with Austin and Sue’s room and figured you’d need those. For all we know they could be going at it like jack rabbits every night at home.”

Emily scuffs as she fights the urge to say no considering that she has been spending 4 days out of the week sleeping at Sue’s place. Instead she just fakes a smile and lets out a weak “thanks” as she stuffs the ear plugs in her pocket.

“You are welcome. Now come on so we can order food because I am starving.” Lavina finishes her last sentence with a groan as she pushes Emily inside. Emily can’t help but smile at her dramatic sister as she walks back into the house.

-

Emily woke up the next day in a cold sweat. The same damn nightmare won’t leave her alone. Even when she wakes up, the first few minutes are still filled with the haunting images of her death. She can still hear the deadly silence that filled the room because no one showed up. Not even her family. She can remember trying to break out of the coffin as dirt piled on top of her. Usually they only came when she drank a lot but for some reason, they kept showing up lately…

Emily tossed and turned for a few minutes before giving up on sleep. After looking at the alarm clock that read 4:30 am, she decided that she wasn’t going back to sleep and wiped the sleep from her eyes as she crawled out of bed.

She stumbled to the bathroom to make herself semi presentable before trucking down stairs with a black pencil and a blank sheet of paper. Deciding that getting tea would be too loud, Emily instead settled for a bottle of water and a granola bar to accompany her on the back porch. After placing the items down on the small coffee table in front of her, She couldn’t help but think that something was missing.

As if a lightbulb went off, Emily raced back inside to find a perfectly polished ash tray, a lighter, and one of the old cigars that her grandfather used to smoke. Emily lit it before placing it carefully in the tray. She never had any intentions on smoking it, but the smell of it always got her creative juices flowing so she just goes with it.

Emily took a quick sweep of her surroundings to find inspiration only to fall on a certain dock. The same dock that a certain mysterious woman stood bare at last night. Something about the experience made Emily feel so invasive and dirty but another made her feel excited and free. The wheels in Emily’s head started turning and before she knew what had happened, Emily had filled up an entire page dedicated to the mysterious muse.

Emily wanted so desperately to feel accomplished by what she had done but for some reason, it all felt wrong. Like a betrayal to Sue. Sue who she had barely talked to since they arrived at the house. And despite it being only a few hours…Emily missed her like hell.

Shaking her head, Emily crumpled up the paper in her hands before grabbing all of her items to head back inside the house. Emily tiptoed to the kitchen as she expected it to be empty but when she reached it, the refrigerator door was open and a figure was hidden behind it.

Emily was fully ready to throw hands with the intruder until a perfectly manicured hand reached out to close the door and Sue popped up behind the door.

“Oh, good morning.” Sue said sweetly. She was covered in a dark plum colored tight sports bra that did wonders for her and matching leggings that covered her ass perfectly.

“Uh, good morning?” Emily took a gulp. “What are you doing up so early?”

“It’s not really early it’s 5:45 am,” Damn, had Emily really been writing for that long? “But still I wasn’t expecting anyone to be up at this time either.”

“I was uh, getting some fresh air.” Sue eyed Emily suspiciously before moving closer to her. Emily tried to move back to give her some space but found her back hitting the end of a counter. Who put that there?

“I didn’t know you smoked cigars.” Sue reached up to grab Emily by the chin so she could move it to the side and expose her neck. Emily’s breath hicked as Sue leaned in to inhale Emily’s scent. “Smells good.” Sue dropped her voice down an octave as she moved back to give Emily some space.

Emily closed her eyes as she tried to calm down the fire that was being to grow inside of her. It’s not that she doesn’t want to have sex with Sue. It’s not that at all. Emily would just prefer to do it at another time in a particularly more private place. “Um, what are you doing up?” Emily asked, trying to change the subject.

“Oh well Austin told me about this hiking trail on the way down here so I thought I'd go see what the hype is about.” Right, Austin. Her brother Austin. Sue’s boyfriend Austin. No matter how many times she heard that, the feeling of guilt never left. As if Sue could sense what was going on in Emily’s head, she tried to change the subject. “So, what’s that?” Sue pointed to the balled up piece of paper in Emily’s hands.

“Oh it's nothing..” Emily tried to move her hand behind her back but Sue was quicker and grabbed the paper out of her hands.

“Let’s see here.” Sue opened up the paper to read it from start to finish. “Wow.” Sue started as her face softened and she looked at Emily with something that could only be classified as admiration. “Who’s it about?” She asked with a small smile.

“Uh, no one.” Before the guilt of her lie could reach Emily, she spoke again. “You know what? Why don’t I join you on your hike?”

“What? Really? Lavinia said you hate the outdoors.”

“Yeah well Lavinia is a big fat liar.” Emily commented now moving to the stairs to get ready. “Give me like five minutes and I’ll be ready.”

“Are you sure? You don’t have to do this if you don’t want to.”

Emily paused halfway up the stairs, “Trust me Sue, I’ll be fine.”

-

“I AM NOT FINE!” Emily heaved out at Sue who was a few feet in front of her. Curse her for thinking that a thin black sweatshirt and dark blue tights would be a good thing to wear on a hike in the morning.

“We just took a 5 minute break!” Sue chuckled.

“It was more like a 5 second break.” Sue laughed out loud. “See you laugh but it's true. I literally blinked and it was over.” Emily pouted.

“Oh come on you big baby we are almost there.” Sue said, grabbing Emily by the hand and pulling her forward.

Almost here my ass. Emily thought. It had been 10 minutes since she last checked her watch and they had just reached the top. Emily practically collapsed next to a rock as she heaved out of breath. Sue just rolled her eyes and threw Emily her water bottle before walking to the edge of the lookout point.

Sue took a deep breath, “Isn’t this view just perfect? The sun still rising over the trees. The birds still waking up. The breeze in the air just right.” Even though her back was to Emily, she could still hear the smile in Sue’s voice.

Emily walked up behind Sue and wrapped her arms around her waist. “Yeah, I guess it's kind of nice.” Sue immediately relaxed into Emily’s embrace and wrapped her own arms on top of Emily’s.

Sue speaks after a moment of silence. “You know, it's moments like these that make me dream about the future. A future where I can go out on the patio in the morning and see you sitting here writing until your heart's content. And we can go out to a fancy restaurant and hold hands while we make fun of other people's shallow conversations.” Both women let out a small chuckle. “And at night, you would hold my hand as we made love until we fell asleep in each other's arms. Oh, Emily it sounds so foolish but,” Sue turned around to face her “could you see it too?”

Without hesitation, Emily responded with a quick “Yes,” because the truth is, she could. She could see it. All of it. The fancy dinners and lazy mornings. The cuddles in bed after late night sex. No, not sex. Because what they would do could only be classified as making love. It would be so slow and passionate and raw. And when sleep would easily find Emily, no nightmares would come. Only dreams about what adventure she would go on next with Sue. “I do.”

Emily softly grabbed Sue’s face and pulled her in for a slow kiss. But, what started out light and soft quickly turned quick and messy. And Emily found herself, trailing one hand from the waistband of Sue’s leggings to the top of her bra. She tugged at the fabric, trying desperately to pop out one of Sue’s boobs.

“Wait. Wait.” Sue said into the kiss, making Emily quickly pull her hand back.

“Did-did I do something wrong?” Emily asked worryingly.

“No no of course not. I would just prefer to have sex away from a cliff.” Emily looked behind Sue to see no protective railing keeping her from falling over the edge. Literally.

“Right right.” Emily looked around to find the rock that she was leaning on when they first arrived at the lookout point.

Thinking quickly, Emily moved Sue so her back was leaning on the rock and immediately began sucking on Sue’s neck. She had mastered at this point how to not leave a hickey on Sue’s neck so neither were worried about it.

“Mmmh. Fuck.” Sue moaned as Emily trailed her kisses down to the top of Sue’s boobs that weren't covered by her top.

Emily looked at Sue through her eye lashes as she pulled down her bra to release both of Sue’s boobs. Refusing to waste any time, Emily took Sue’s left nipple into her mouth and swirled her tongue around it while pinching the other between her thumb and pointer fingers. Sue bucked her hips as Emily bit down lightly on the nipple in her mouth. “Oh fuck!” She shouted at the new movement. Well that was definitely something to explore in the future. Emily thought. For now, she moved over to the other boob and gave it the same treatment.

As Emily slowly started trailing kisses all around Sue’s torso, she stopped to trail her kisses back up to Sue’s neck.

“W-what are you doing?” Sue asked as she watched Emily kiss her neck.

“I want to see you when you cum.” Emily whispered in her ear before kissing her pulse point.

Sue threw her head back against the rock as Emily reached a hand under her waistband. Emily moaned when her fingers came into contact with Sue’s arousal.

“Damn Susie. This all for me?” Emily mumbled as she kissed away Sue’s constant flow of moans.

“Yes. A-all for you” Sue gasped as Emily slowly rubbed circles around her clit. “Inside. God inside please Emily.” Sue gripped Emily's shoulder and shut her eyes as Emily shoved two fingers inside of her. “Oh god I’ve missed this!” Sue leaned her head forward to touch Emily’s.

“Me too, Sue. Me too.” Emily kissed Sue deeply as she pumped her fingers faster in and out of Sue.

“God I’m gonna cum.” Sue threw her head back in ecstasy as she fought to chase her own peak.

“Go ahead. Show me Sue. Cum for me.” As if on command, Sue arched her back and squeezed around Emily’s fingers.

Emily gasped as Sue fell into an extreme climax. One that Emily wished would last forever if it meant she got to see Sue in the state she was in now. Eye closed, both tits out, heaving out of breath, and clinging onto Emily like she was going to fly away if she didn’t. Emily didn’t stop her movements and the feeling of Sue’s pulsing walls around Emily’s fingers didn’t stop either as Sue fell into another orgasm.

Spent and overstimulated, Sue grabbed Emily’s wrist and stopped it from pushing her into her 3rd orgasm of the morning. Before Emily could protest about her fingers being pulled out, Sue lifted them to her mouth and sucked herself off of both soaked digits.

“Fuck” Emily whispered in awe as Sue who stared up at Emily, sloppily moving Emily’s fingers around in her mouth with her tongue. Stopping every once in a while to push the fingers to the back of her throat before continuing to suck on Emily’s slender fingers. “Fuck Sue.” Emily moved her fingers out of Sue’s mouth so her tongue could invade Sue’s waiting mouth. “Hmmm. Keep sucking my fingers like that and we will never leave these woods.” Emily mumbled in between kisses, enjoying the taste of Sue on her own tongue.

“Mmmh I thought you hate hiking.” Sue smirked into the kiss.

“Yeah well, it's growing on me.” Emily responded as she moved to push up Sue’s sports bra.

“Wait, I didn’t get to do you.” Sue pouted when Emily took a step back.

“Don’t worry Sue. You can repay me later.” Emily smirked at Sue.

“Oh look! The sun has fully risen.” Sue said, taking a step off of the rock and looking out to the open sky.

“Well I guess that means we should head back. Lavinia’s an early riser anyways.

“Of course she is.” Sue said as she retrieved the now forgotten water bottle off the ground. “Come on Em. We’ve got a long walk ahead of us.” She sarcastically said, causing Emily to scoff before she followed her down the trail.

-

When the girls arrived back at the lake house, a bright and clean pickup truck was waiting for them in the driveway.

“Did you invite anyone else?” Sue asked as they walked past the empty truck. Emily just shook her head as they walked into the house.

“Oh thank god you are here.” Lavinia said, grabbing Sue’s hand the minute she stepped foot into the house. “Austin won’t leave the poor plumber alone.”

“Plumber?” Emily asked, following both women to the kitchen.

“Yeah, apparently Jane lost her earring down the kitchen and Austin couldn’t get it so they called the plumber to come get it.”

When they got to the kitchen, Emily could see just what Lavinia meant. The plumber was hidden under the sink while Austin stood next to them and talked their ear off. If Emily had to guess, he was telling him about how he used to work at home depot for all of two days when he was in high school.

“And that’s when I told him that the pc pipe was the wrong size.” Bingo, Emily was right. I honestly should’ve won some prize for that amazing guess. She said to herself.

“I found them.” Lavinia said which made Austin turn to look in their direction.

“Oh hey babe.” Austin walked up to Sue and gave her a quick peck on the lips. “How was the hike?”

“Good. Good. The sunrise was beautiful.” Sue answered.

“Well maybe I should go with you guys next time.” No the hell you shouldn’t Emily thought as she watched Sue and Austin in disgust.

“Uh well I think I found the earring.” The female plumber said as she started to move from under the sink with the so-called earring in hand. Jane immediately ran up to her, giving her a big hug while spewing out thank yous.

As the woman hugged her back, Emily could see tan arms in her peripheral vision. Wait. It can’t be. She thought. But Sure enough as the women pulled away from Jane and walked up to the rest of the group, Emily froze. Holy shit.

It was her. The women who Emily shamefully watched get out of the lake yesterday nude. Her same blonde curls that were now dry and those piercing blue eyes that reflected in the glowing yellow light last night now stared back at Emily. Almost as if they were daring Emily to remember.

“Thanks Sam. You’re a lifesaver.” Austin said, patting Sam on the back. “Oh. Where are my manners? Sam, this is my girlfriend Sue and my sister Emily.” Sam gave Sue a passing glance before turning her attention fully to Emily.

“Hi, Emily.” Sam said before reaching a hand out for Emily to take. Rough calluses greeted Emily. So different from Sue’s soft and perfectly manicured hands but not unpleasant.

“Hi.” Emily choked out in return. Sam just grinned in return.

“So Sam. What do I owe you?” Austin said, reaching for his checkbook.

“Oh please Austin, we’re neighbors. It's on the house. I’m not even a real plumber. Just a lesbian with a tool kit.” Emily snorted at Sam’s joke but when she looked over at Sue, she was less amused. In fact she had a look of disdain on her face. Weird.

“Well you at least have to let me buy you a beer the next time I see you.” Austin insisted.

“Deal. Well I should be going. Let you folks get back to having some fun.” Sam packed up her tool box.

“Uh why don’t I walk you out. It's the least I can do after you drove so far to come here.” Emily jumped in.

“Sure.” Sam responded.

They walked out of the house silently until they were out of ear shot from the rest of the group.

“So, do you normally watch women swim naked?” Sam asked.

“Do you normally swim naked?” Emily responded.

“Yes. Usually at night because it's too cold for most people to go out at that time. Well except for you of course.”

“Well for the record, I was just admiring the view of the lake.”

“Sure you were.” Sam chuckled, now slinging her tool box in the back of her truck before walking to the driver's side to get in. “How about this for the remainder of your trip, I will refrain from swimming naked, if you let me buy you a drink.”

Emily immediately started blushing, “Oh I-”

“Here’s my number.” Sam grabbed a card from her center console and handed it to Emily. “Oh and Emily?” Sam reached to push her sunglasses over her eyes. “Don’t think about it too hard.” She winked at Emily as she backed out of the driveway and pulled off onto the road.

Emily stood in the cloud of smoke that was left behind watching until Sam’s car was out of her line of vision. Then she looked down to the black business card that was in her hand. One side was a singular phone number while the other only read three words:

Samantha Bowles
Publisher

Notes:

And that's it. (Please don't kill me but I had to add sam into it for the plot). You see what I did there by gender bending Sam. I just felt like female Sam would be more aesthetically pleasing than male Sam. Anyways. I hope you all enjoyed and as always comments and Kudos are always welcome.

Chapter Text

When Emily walked back into the house, she couldn’t stop a smile from rising on her face.

“Well well well. What was all that?” Lavinia asked when Emily entered the kitchen again.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

“Really Miss ‘oh sam please let me walk you out’?” Austin said joining in on the fun.

“I do not sound like that.”

“So you don’t think Sam is hot?” Lavinia said, walking closer to Emily.

Emily looked over to Sue who was surprisingly looking back at her with an eyebrow raised and interest on her face. Almost as if she was waiting on Emily to respond.

“Whether I think Sam is hot or not has nothing to do with wanting to walk her out. I was just….being a good neighbor.”

“Really? Then what is….this!” Lavinia reached for Emily’s hand and snatched Sam’s black business card from her hand. “Ooooo fancy.” Lavinia turned the card over and read over the gold print. “Samantha Bowles. Oh and she’s a publisher.” Lavinia fake fanned herself.

“Lavinia give it back.” Emily said blushing as she tried to reach for the card. Before she could, Sue took the card from Lavinia.

“Uh. Seems like you two got well acquainted.” Sue mumbled turning the card over. Emily could see Sue clinch her jaw shut and take a sharp intake of breath as she looked over the golden phone number.

“Yeah. I mean I don’t think I’ve ever seen you this excited around someone new since you met Sue!” Austin said with a chuckle. As if Austin’s words pulled Sue out of her trance, she snapped her head back up to Emily and reached over to hand her back the card.

“I’m uh going to go take a shower. That hike made me all dirty.”

“Hmmm do you need some help.” Austin whispered leaning into Sue’s ear and pressing what Emily could only assume is a growing boner into her ass. Gross.

“I think I’ll be fine.” Sue said, turning around and patting Austin on the chest before walking towards the stairs.

“You know what? Sue has the right idea.” Emily said, running to follow Sue up the stairs.

“Hey Sue!” Emily shouted as she caught up with Sue. When she turned around to look at Emily, a faint look crossed her face. A look that Emily could only express as pain. “Um. Thank you. For inviting me on that hike. I-I had a really good time.”

“Yeah of course” Sue mumbled out as her face softened.

“Maybe we could go for another one tomorrow?” Emily tried taking a step closer to Sue.

“Really?”

“Yeah.” Emily said, walking closer to Sue until her back was to the bathroom door. “I would love to watch you fall apart along the sunrise again.” Emily leaned in to whisper in her ear, “And taste your cum in my mouth.

“Um. I should go take my shower.” Sue blushed as she stumbled away to her room. “I have to get some clothes.” Sue struggled to turn the doorknob as she got to the door. “My huh hands are slippery all of a sudden.” Sue grabbed her shirt and wrapped it around her hand to help her open the door. She turned around to Emily who was smirking at her. “I got it open.” Sue announced as she walked into the room and slowly closed the door.

It was almost magical. After all the countless nights they’ve spent together, simple words from Emily’s mouth still managed to make Sue melt. Emily prayed that nothing would prevent that from happening again.

-

Despite Emily’s content protesting, the gang ended up driving to the bar later that night.

“You guys do know that we could’ve stayed at the cabin and drunk our free alcohol instead of paying 10 dollars for watered down drinks.” Emily said as they sat down at a table in the corner of the bar.

“But if we did that, then we wouldn’t be out looking super cute,” Lavinia responded as she fixed her skirt before standing up. “And I, wouldn’t be getting us a round of shots right now,”

As if instinctively, Emily put her hand on Sue’s thigh under the table. However, instead of leaning into the touch, Sue shot up out of her spot and quickly said, “I’ll come with you,” before walking after Lavinia.

“Oh, okay.” Emily mumbled trying to not be disappointed.

Out of the corner of her eye, Emily saw familiar blonde curls enter through the door and walk towards them. Emily couldn’t help the smile that raised to her face as Sam looked her in the eye.

“Hey guys, sorry I’m late. Things got pretty crazy at the office.” Sam rushed out as she unbuttoned a few buttons of her shirt. It wasn’t up until this point that Emily actually took in Sam’s outfit. She wore a fitted dark yellow suit with a crisp white button up shirt underneath. The olive skin that peaked out of the slightly unbutton shirt made Emily go feral.

“Um, where do I sit?” Same spoke looking out at the full table.

“Oh there’s a seat right next to Emily.” Austin pointed out.

“Actually, that's… oh okay” Sam cut Emily off by plopping down in the seat formally filled by Sue.

“Hey” Sam smiled at Emily as she gave her a once over. Despite her wearing a black bomber jacket over a white tank top and thrifted light colored jeans, under Sam’s intense gaze she felt naked.

“Hi” Emily whispered back, looking Sam in the eyes. There was something in them Emily couldn’t identify. She wanted to look away, but everytime the thought crossed her mind Sam’s eyes brought her back in.

“Sam? What are you doing here?” Lavinia shouted with excitement. As if cold water splashed Emily in the face, she looked away from Sam and her eyes landed on Sue. Right Sue. Emily couldn’t help but feel guilty as she looked to see the frown on Sue’s face.

“Well Austin called me and asked to repay me for the plumbing work I did. To be honest at first I thought he was hitting on me, but then he mentioned everyone else was coming so we’re cool.”

“You…uh took my seat.” Sue said with false sweetness.

“Oh no worries babe you can just sit on my lap.” Austin joked as he put his hand around Sue’s waist.

“Ew Austin don’t be a pig. Here Sue, you can sit here and I’ll pull up an extra chair.” Lavinia jumped in as Sue sat next to Hattie and across from Sam and Emily. Lavinia pulled up a chair next to her. “So Sam, Emily tells me that you are a publisher.”

“Yeah, I am.”

“Have you published any books that we’ve heard of?” Austin asked.

“That depends, do you read depressing sapphic romances that usually end with one or both of them dead?”

“No” “Yes” Sue and Emily said in unison. Sam looked over at Emily and chuckled, “I knew I liked you.”

“I have a round of shots?” The waitress said as she put down their first round of shots along with two cups of limes and a salt shaker.

“Don’t worry Sam, I ordered an extra just in case someone else showed up.” Lavinia said, passing out shots.

“I was going to say some drinking chant but fuck it!” Austin said as he downed his shot and everyone followed in suit.

Emily downed her glass and immediately felt the liquid burn her throat. “Vodka? Really Vinnie?”

“Hey you knew what you were getting yourself into when I left to get shots.” Lavinia warned as she sucked on her lime.

“You know Emily, I am an amazing palm reader.” Sam said leaning in to speak to Emily.

“Really?” Emily cut her eyes at Sam.

“Yeah! Give me your palm.” Sam reached out her hand and waited patiently for Emily’s hand. Emily stole a glance at Sue who was already looking at her while Hattie told her some funny joke. To anyone else, Sue just seemed interested in what was happening around her but to Emily, Sue wore a look of jealousy. Jealousy of what? Emily asked herself. Shaking off her irritation with Sue, Emily reached up and placed her hand in Sam’s.

“Interesting,” Sam hummed as she slowly traced the lines on Emily’s palm with her finger. “See, this line means that your life will be filled with luck.” Sam pointed down at Emily’s hand. Emily squinted down at the line in hand but it just looked like a regular line to her.

“How can you tell?” Emily asked, still looking at her hand.

“Four leaf clovers always blow to the east. Same way that this line is leaning to.” Sam factually answered.

“Really?” Emily asked looking up to see those blue orbs that have been stuck in her mind.

“No, I just wanted an excuse to hold your hand.” Sam smirked as she put both of her hands around Emily’s. Emily couldn’t stop the heat that covered her cheeks even if she tried.

Not trusting her voice to not be shaky, Emily just giggled and nudged Sam’s shoulder with her own.

“I’m gonna order more shots.” Sue mumbled as she walked away before anyone could respond to her. Only this time, Emily didn’t follow her with her eyes.

-

A few rounds of shots later, everyone was definitely feeling the buzz.

“And that's how I got the rights to publish a love story centered around a sex store.” Sam said while swirling around her jack and coke.

“I think you might be the coolest person I’ve ever met.” Emily tipsily responded.

“Nah, I’m just a glorified librarian really. Organizing shit and making sure everyone gets what they want.”

Emily chuckled, “It could be worse. I’ve been writing for two years now and I still don’t have the courage to show the world.”

“You’re a writer?” Sam questioned.

“Well, I’m a poet technically. But everything I write is shit.” Emily talked into her martini.

“I won’t believe it till i see it” Sam whispered to Emily.

“Uh you know what hold that thought.” Emily said, panicking. “I have to um…use the restroom.”

-

When Emily reached the restroom, she was shocked to see Sue washing her hands. When did she leave the table?

“Oh hey Sue.” Emily said only to get no response back. Infact, Sue hasn’t even looked at Emily since she walked in the restroom. “Sue?” Emily called out again to seemingly deaf ears. When she moved closer, she could see Sue clenching her jaw tightly. “Are you okay?” Emily said, putting a hand on Sue’s shoulder.

“I’m fine, Emily.” Sue mumbled back.

“Are you sure? Because it doesn’t seem that way.” Sue sighed before turning to look at Emily. She then looked around all of the stalls before returning to her spot in front of Emily. Worry painting her face.

“I don’t trust Sam,” Sue started. “Like at all.”

“Oh. Why did she do something wrong?” Emily asked concerned.

“I…” Sue looked like she was about to say something before she closed her mouth and looked down at her shoes. “I don’t know. I just have a bad feeling about her being around. I mean she just pops out of nowhere and now she’s all over you and-”

“Hold on.” Emily said, cutting Sue off. “I think I see what’s going on here.” Sue looked back up at Emily.

“You do?”

“Yeah. You’re jealous of Sam.” Emily said putting two and two together.

“What? No I’m not.”

“Oh please Sue. I see it. Every time she practically breathes near me you look ready to chop her head off.” Emily took a step closer to Sue. “It’s okay. I find it very sexy.” Emily leaned in to place a kiss on Sue’s lips only for her to take a step back.

“Emily, I’m not jealous of Sam.” Sue paused before she continued. “Okay maybe I am a little bit but that’s not the point. I can’t tell you why but Sam is a bad person.”

“Really? Because as far as I can tell she has been nothing but nice.”

“Because that’s what bad people do. They try to act all nice but really they are just waiting to take advantage of you.” Sue said, raising her voice before taking a deep breath. She took Emily’s hands in hers as she spoke, “Look Emily, trust me on this. Sam is not a good person. I just can’t understand why you don’t see that.” Sue glanced at her with a look that Emily never expected her to show. Disappointment. The same disappointed look that she’s been given by everyone in her life. From her parents when she said she wanted to become a poet to her ex when she called Emily a coward for not telling her family that they were dating. The look that made her want to cry.

Emily slowly took her hands away from Sue, “You know what I don’t understand Sue? Why it’s so hard for you to believe that Sam just likes me for me. What? Is it because she’s not fucking me while being in a relationship with someone else?” Emily spat out. Sue stood back as if she had just been burned. As disappointment turned into sadness, Emily immediately wished she could take her words back. Before she could open her mouth, however, Sue walked out the restroom. Despite her mind telling her to run after Sue, her feet stayed rooted to the ground.

-

After she calmed herself down, Emily walked back to the table with hopes that Sue would still be there.

“Oh there she is! Sam said you went to the toilet and I got afraid that you might have fallen in!” Austin joked as he nursed a beer.

“Where’s Sue?” Emily asked, cutting straight to the chase.

“Oh you just missed her actually.” Sam responded walking over to the table. “She said something about needing to respond to some work emails or something.”

“Of course she did.” Emily chuckled as she walked over to the bar to order a drink. Sam right behind her.

“Are you okay?” Sam leaned on the bar.

“Sue and I had a fight. It’ll be fine,” The I hope that followed never made it out of Emily’s head.

“Been there. Luckily one of the best things to cure that is alcohol and we are at a bar.” Sam reached over to clink her glass with Emily’s new martini.

-

Emily woke up face down on her bed with a splitting headache. I really have to stop getting drunk. Emily thought as she forced herself out of bed. She made it all of two steps out of her room before running to the bathroom to throw up.

After getting rid of all of the leftover booze in her stomach, Emily walked down stairs and turned on the coffee maker. As soon as she poured the coffee into her mug, the front door opened and a sweaty Sue walked in.

“Oh good. You made it back.” Sue sarcastically said as she walked towards the stairs.

“Sue, wait.” Emily grabbed Sue’s wrist as she stopped before turning around to face Emily who put both of her hands in Sue’s before saying, “I wanted to apologize for what I said yesterday. It was wrong of me to say and I was just hurt because I thought you were disappointed in me. Not that that accuses how I acted because it doesn’t.” Emily cut off her rambling. “Look Sue I’m just…I’m sorry.”

Sue’s body deflated as her cold stare melted away. “I wasn’t disappointed in you, Emily. I just wanted you to be careful and I let that mix with my jealousy and cause a shit storm. I’m sorry too and if you want to hang out with Sam then I shouldn’t stop you.”

“How about we both try to be honest with each other from here on out? I feel like that’s the best thing for us to do.”

“Deal.”

“Well in that case, I honestly think you look hot in athletic wear.” Emily whispered. Wait. Oh no. “Oh shit. I forgot about the hike!” Emily facepalmed herself. “Sue I’m so sorry!”

“It’s okay. After a few minutes of waiting outside I figured that after last night we both needed space.”

“While I appreciate that, it is absolutely not okay and I demand you let me make it up to you. Oh! How about we go out tonight? I know this cute little diner that serves amazing grilled cheeses.”

“I don’t know Emily going out two nights in a row really isn’t my speed.”

“Oh come on! Pleaaassee” Emily begged while donning her best puppy dog eyes.

“Okay okay. Fine.” Sue agreed, causing Emily to hop up and down in excitement.

“Perfect! It's a date!”

“Well I better go shower before everyone else wakes up and hogs it.” Sue said before giving Emily a quick peck on the lips. “And maybe then you can brush your teeth.” Sue grimace.

“Hey you know how much I drink when we go out so you walked into that one.” Emily called out. Sue just flipped her off and continued walking up the stairs.

Emily turned to heat up her now lukewarm coffee before a buzz came in on her phone.

Chapter Text

Getting ready to meet Sam might just have been the single most stressful thing that Emily has ever done in her life. Maybe it was just her nerves. Maybe it was the studden need to be perfect around Sam that had her so on edge. As she stood in the mirror looking over the umpth teenth outfit she picked out, Emily was ready to accept that she doesn’t own any good outfits. That was until she remembered the sun dress that she gave Lavinia a while back that she takes everywhere with her.

“Lavinia!” Emily shouted as she rushed into her room.

“Jesus Emily do you ever knock?” Lavinia said half sleep from her bed.

“No time. Do you remember that cute sundress I gave you last winter when I found out that it was a buy one get one free deal at that store near the ice cream shop that my ex used to work at?”

“The white one with flowers?” Lavinia asked pulling off her sleep mask to look fully at Emily. “Woah. Where are you going looking like that?”

“What do you mean?”

“You put on your ‘date makeup’ and your hair looks amazing. So again I ask where are you going?”

“That’s none of your business.” Emily mumbled folding her arms.

“I’m not giving you the dress until you tell me” Lavinia said, crossing her arms.

“Ok fine. Sam is taking me to a farmer’s market today.”

“WHAT? You’re going on a date with Sam?” Lavinia shouted at Emily.

“No. We’re just having a nice outing.” Emily moved over to look through Lavinia’s closet.

“I don’t know, nice makeup, expensive perfume, and your sexy sundress says otherwise.

“Maybe I just wanted to dress up okay.” Emily frustratingly mumbled as she flipped through more clothes.

Lavinia got up and walked over to Emily, “Hey hey.” Lavinia put her hand on Emily’s shoulder. Emily stopped and let out a huff as Lavinia continued. “I’m sorry. I know how you get with relationships and stuff.”

“No, it's okay. I guess I’m just a little nervous that’s all.”

“Do you think that maybe it could be because you like like Sam?” Lavinia sung as she nudged Emily with her shoulder.

“I mean I don’t know.” Emily mumbled.

“Look Emily I know its been a while since you’ve gone out with someone you were interested in but I think it’s beyond time for you to get back out there. I mean we both can’t be lonely spinsters now can we?”

Emily chuckled at the thought, “Yeah. Mother would lose her mind.”

Lavinia chuckled along with her, “Here. Just try to not get any substances on it.” Lavinia reached over to the bright colored sundress and shoved it into Emily’s hands.

“Thank you Vinnie. Really thank you.” Emily gave Lavinia a big hug before she rushed out the door.

-

As Emily added the finishing touches on her outfit. She decided that this was as good as it was going to look and started walking down the hallway. Before she could reach the stairs however, a hand reached out and pulled her into the bathroom.

“Don’t. Scream.” A voice said as a hand flew up over Emily’s mouth.

“Sue?” Emily mumbled through the hand. Sue removed her hand from Emily’s mouth and replaced it on her neck. Emily groaned as Sue began sucking on her neck.

“What, you didn’t think I was going to let you slide after that little stunt you pulled the other day did you?” Sue mumbled as she continued to suck and nibble on Emily’s neck.

“H-hey no biting. I have a thing in a little bit and fresh hickeys don’t exactly go with my outfit.”

“Really? And what do you have to do?” Sue asked as she hiked up Emily's dress and wrapped her legs around her own waist.

“Um.” Emily swallowed the lump in her throat as Sue leaned in closer and inched her fingers toward Emily’s center. “Sam is taking me to the farmers market just out of town.” Emily winced as she could feel Sue tense on her.

“Sam?” Sue questioned.

“Yeah. She recommended it this morning so I decided to go.”

“What about dinner tonight?” Sue pouted as her shoulders sagged.

“We can still go.”

“Well not if you are going out with Sam,” Sue mumbled as she looked away from Emily.

“Hey hey.” Emily gripped Sue’s chin and pulled her face until she was looking Emily in the eyes. “We will have time for us. I promise you.” Despite Emily’s soothing words, Sue still showed a look of uncertainty. “How about this. Sam and I are leaving at 2. If I leave and come back by 7 then we can still go out and have dinner. That’s 5 hours with Sam..” Emily reached up to wrap her arms around Sue’s neck. “And the rest of the night I…” Emily reached up and kissed Sue on the neck. “Am.” Another kissed landed on Sue’s jaw. “All.” And another on her cheek. “Yours.” Finally Emily placed a long kiss on Sue’s lips. “I’ll do you one better. I’ll even make reservations for us.”

Sue softly smiled at Emily. “Okay. Let’s do it.” Emily fist bumped the air as she gave Sue a small peck on the lips. She reached to distance herself however before she could get far, Sue pulled her back in and shoved her back against the door.

“Where are you going?” Sue said as she slipped one hand into Emily’s underwear. “I think we still have some business to attend to.” Sue whispered into Emily’s mouth as she rubbed tight circles around Emily’s clit.

“Ah fuck.” Emily quietly moaned in between sloppy kisses with Sue. “Inside. Please go inside.” Emily begged as she gripped Sue’s shoulders. Sue answered her request by slipping into her wet core with two fingers.

“Mmh god you're so wet.” Sue mumbled into Emily’s ear as she began to pump in and out of Emily.

“Oh god.” Emily whispered to the ceiling when Sue curled her fingers inside of her. The searing white heat Emily could feel in the pit of her stomach roared as she grew closer to the edge.

Before Emily could make another sound, Sue reached up and covered Emily’s mouth with her free hand. “Shh baby. You have to be quiet. You don’t want everyone to hear me pounding into you do you?” Emily’s walls clenched around Sue’s fingers. “Oh you like that don’t you?” Sue sped up as she could feel Emily getting dangerously close to the edge. “The idea of someone walking in and seeing you grinding on my fingers.” Emily moaned under Sue’s hand as she gripped the back of Sue’s shirt. “You’re so close aren’t you?” Emily shook her head yes. “Remember this at the farmers market. Remember how good of a girl you are for me. How tight your pussy is gripping me.” Emily’s knuckles turned white as she held on to Sue for dear life as her body threatened her to fall over the edge. “Go ahead. Cum for me.” Emily gasped and shuddered as she reached her climax. After Sue helped her through her aftershocks she slowly removed her fingers. Emily groaned at the feeling of Sue pulling out and leaving her needy cunt empty. If it weren’t for the wall and Sue who was holding her up, Emily would collapse on the ground in the heat of her amazing orgasm.

“Now go have fun.” Sue set Emily down on the ground and gave her a peck on the lips.

Emily looked at her confused, “Huh?” Emily reached down to fix her dress. “Oh right! The uh farmers market.” She reached for the doorknob as she watched Sue inspect her fingers near the sink. “I should uh get going.” Sue looked up to make eye contact with Emily through the mirror and put her wet fingers in her mouth. She groaned as the taste of Emily entered her mouth. “Oh god. Um I mean. Bye!” Emily rushed out the door before it became impossible to leave.

-

After Emily snuck back to her room to fix her makeup, she decided to face the masses and go downstairs.

“Woahhhhh. Where are you going?” Austin said as he stuffed his mouth full of eggs.

“Sam is taking me to the farmers market.”

“Oooo Saaammmm.” Austin and George sang along.

“Really George? You too?” Emily clinched her invisible pearls and gave George a disappointed look.

“To be honest I didn’t see it at first but after you were all up on her yesterday, I ship it.” George raised his coffee mug to clink it with Austin’s.

“Ship who?” Sue said as she sat down next to Austin. She pecked him on the lips before throwing a glance in Emily’s direction.

“Emily and Sam.” Hattie said in her coffee mug.

“Really,” Sue responded, resting her head on her hands.

Before she had a chance to respond, her phone buzzed with a text from Sam saying that she was there. “Aaaand on that note, I have to go. Try not to burn down anything while I’m gone” Emily yelled as she walked out the door.

When Emily turned around. She stopped in her spot as she looked Sam up and down. Sam wore a clean pair of oxfords paired with tailored black slacks and a long sleeved blue checkered polo shirt rolled up to the middle of her forearms. Her hair was perfectly put in place even though it was left out. Emily continued to watch as Sam checked her Rolex impatiently. God she’s hot Emily thought as she bit her bottom lip.

Emily took a deep breath before she called out, “Hey!” in Sam’s direction. Sam looked up at Emily and moved to take her aviators off.

“Wow.” Sam held her arms out to Emily. Emily took them in her own and tried not to relish in the feeling of Sam’s hands in hers. “You look…” Beautiful? Cute? Adorable? God please say one of those. Emily begged inside her head. “So hot.” Wow okay, I wasn't expecting that one. Emily thought.

“Thanks. And you look very business casual. Did you just come from work?” Emily asked.

“No. Believe it or not these are my farmers market clothes.” Sam joked. Emily let out a little chuckle at the statement.

“So…..where’s your car?” Emily looked around but couldn’t spot the same pick up truck Sam was in the first time she met her.

“Right here.” Sam pointed as they both turned to the all black porsche behind them. Emily gawked at the fancy car before she was pulled over to the passenger side.

“What happened to the truck?” Emily asked in shock. Sam opened the door for Emily and prompted her to sit in the seat before moving around to the driver's side.

“Well my truck was strictly for my plumbing business. This car however,” Sam checked the mirrors before looking at Emily through the space at the top of her glasses. “Is for pleasure only.” Sam revved the engine one time before speeding off to the open road.

-

When they arrived at the farmers market, Emily was immediately pulled in by the welcoming vibe the whole place gave off. The soft music that played throughout various speakers at different stands paired with the array of people moving along in a busy flow made Emily want to run into the area head first.

“Now I have something to admit. I didn’t just bring you here to show you the rows of almost fresh fruits and vegetables.” Sam started as they walked through the first few stands side by side. Sam stopped and reached into her pocket to pull out a white piece of paper. “I also have some shopping to do.”

“Oh so I’m just an extra pair of hands to carry your groceries back to the car?” Emily teased as she crossed her arms over her chest. Because she was offended of course. Definitely not because she discovered in the mirror this morning that this angle pushed her boobs up and shows just a little more cleavage. Definitely not….

“No Emily, you are just a pleasant companion.” Sam flirted back as her eyes dropped down. “Plus this way I get to learn more about you while we look for..” Sam glanced at the list. “Blueberries, strawberries, and cucumbers.” Emily laughed as Sam threw her arm around Emily’s shoulder and guided her to their first stop.

“So Emily, how old are you?” Sam asked first.

“I’m 24. How old are you?”

“25. What do you do for a living?”

“I’m in grad school actually. What about you?”

“I’m a publisher who also runs my family’s plumbing company.”

“Wow. That sounds fun.”

“Not really but every once in a while I get to come down to the lake house and get caught swimming naked by attractive women.” Sam smiled as they made it to the first stall.

“Samantha? How the heck are ya?” The old man with a bushy mustache and matching eyebrows asked from behind the stand before walking around the stall to give Sam a big hug.

“I’m doing fine Bernie. How’s the wife?” Sam responded.

Bernie chuckled “I could…Oh hello. And who might you be?” Bernie turned his attention to Emily.

“This is Emily Dickinson. A friend of mine.” Sam gestured as Bernie and Emily shared a hand shake. For a small moment, Bernie looked at Sam and frowned his bushy gray eyebrows before he quickly turned back to Emily and smiled sweetly.

“It's nice to meet you Emily.”

“Bernie here was one of my first clients. His sheepdog clogged the bathroom shower drain after wash day.”

“And me and Grace are still very thankful for it to this day.” Bernie finished as he went back behind the stand. “So, what can I get for yah fine ladies?”

“Actually I was wondering if you got in that new shipment of cucumbers yet.” Sam leaned in to whisper as if it were a secret.

Bernie looked around to make sure no one was listening before he whispered back “I’m not supposed to start selling them till next week….but for you, I’ll make an exception.”

Bernie disappeared behind the stand only to reappear with two cucumbers in a bag. Sam quickly took the bag from him before reaching in her wallet to grab a hundred dollar bill.

Bernie shook his head and refused to take the money, “Oh Samantha, you know I won’t charge you after all you’ve done for my family.”

“Then consider it a tip.” Sam dropped the money into the tip jar right next to Bernie and quickly walked off with Emily once again under her arm. “And say hi to the wife for me Bernie!”

“Well that was nice of you.” Emily said as they continued to walk.

“Nah, it's the least I can do. Bernie taught me how good it feels to help people and I will never stop thanking him for it.” Sam said off to the distance. Emily sighed as she started to swoon for Sam. God she’s perfect. Emily thought.

-

“How much longer until we find these berries?” Emily said as she fanned herself in the heat.

“About another 20 stalls. But we can stop for a little bit if you like. They have some benches up ahead and some amazing pineapple.” Sam pointed off to a nearby stand with a lengthy line of people standing and waiting for their order to be taken.

“You had me at stop.” Emily smiled as she walked in the direction that Sam pointed in.

“Hmm. So what do you recommend?” Emily said as they finally arrived at the front of the line.

“Well I love the regular cubed ones but that’s just me.”

“No no, if you like it, then I want to try it.” Emily looked up at Sam with a twinkle in her eye. “Two of the regular cubes please.” Emily dug in her purse reaching for a twenty dollar bill.

“Oh no no. You’re my guest. Please let me pay for you.” Sam said, already handing a forty dollar bill to the cashier. “Keep the change.” Sam look both of the bowls out of the lady’s hands. “Let’s go find somewhere to sit.”

After looking around for all of 3 minutes, they found a two person bench that was free to use. Sam passed Emily her bowl of fruit who accepted it greatly and began digging into her fruit.

“So, you’re a poet right? How did that happen?” Sam asked.

“Well I wish I could say it was some special moment of self discovery or something like that but to be honest, it was the quiet opposite actually.” Sam looked at Emily curiously as she continued. “When my dad would have to watch me throughout the day, he would put me on a play mat in the corner of his office. This would just happen to be right next to his Edgar Allen Poe book collection. As soon as I started to walk, I would grab books and sit down with them. Then I started to read them. Then I started to write my own and the rest is pretty much history.”

“Now I don’t mean to sound like an asshole or anything, but are you any good at it?”
Emily chuckled at Sam’s statement before she answered, “Well I would like to think I’m a good writer, but I don’t really show anyone.”

“Why?”

“I don’t know. I just like to have something just for me. I think that showing it to the world is kind of like a magician revealing how a magic trick is done.”

“But don’t you think that if your work is good enough, it will always retain some of that magic?”

Emily paused and thought about it. As if for the first time ever, Emily imagined what it would be like to have the world see itself through Emily’s eyes. It scared her. And it excited her. “I’ve never really thought about it like that.” Emily turned to look Sam in the eyes. Those eyes. God did they entranced Emily. Like a snake charmer that just wouldn’t give up. They pulled Emily in slowly. So slowly that she didn’t realize that she was leaning into Sam until they were mere inches apart. She looked down at Sam’s lips as her body willed her to push her lips against Sam’s.

Right before their lips could meet Sam’s phone began to ring. Sam hung her head and chuckled as she moved back from Emily. “Perfect timing am I right?” She joked as she looked at the caller id. “I’m sorry I have to take this.” Sam got up from the table as she answered the phone with a quiet “Hey” and walked away from the table.

While Sam was gone, Emily used this time to pull herself together. She didn’t know why but there was a dull throb in between her legs that could only be there because of Sam. Emily was stunned as to how this happened. Weird. I’ve never been turned on by someone encouraging my writing. Emily thought as she ate the last few chunks of pineapple just as Sam walked back to the table.

“Sorry, that was work.” Sam sighed as she sat back down at the table.

”Is everything okay?” Emily asked concerned.

”Yeah yeah it’s just some people don’t understand what a day off is.”

“Does that happen a lot?”

“It does when you are at the same level that I am at, but enough about my boring job. I have a friend who runs an art gallery about 20 minutes from here and they just so happen to have a showing starting in a few minutes. What do you say we ditch this market and go?”

“What about the rest of the stuff on your list?”

“Oh I’ll just have my assistant pick it up for me.”

Emily looked down at her own phone to see that it was already 4:30pm. Sue. Right. She planned dinner with Sue. “I don’t know I’m supposed to be back by 7.” Emily hesitated.

“I promise we won’t even be there an hour. Please?” Sam begged as she grabbed Emily’s hand and brought it up to her lips to place a soft kiss on it.

”I mean if you insist we won’t be more than an hour then why the hell not.”

-

The car ride to the art gallery was filled with pleasant silence as they both listened to the radio. Emily couldn’t help but steal glances at Sam the entire time. It was crazy, the woman enchanted her. Like a snake charmer Emily would practically do anything that Sam asked her too.

“We’re here!” Sam said, pulling up to the front of a tiny deserted looking building.

“Uh Sam, you’re not going to kill me are you?” Emily asked observing the building.

Sam just chuckled and tossed her curls back. “No, Emily, I'm not going to kill you. Trust me on this. There is always more than what meets the eye.” Sam tossed her key to the waiting valet then opened the two double doors.

Emily stood in awe as she gazed around at the view in front of her. The basic white walls were filled with different art pieces. Along with this, there was a small bar near the entrance and waiters walking around with champagne.

“Oh my god. Sue this is-”

“Amazing? Yeah I know. Edmund can’t stand being anything other than just that. Speak of the Devil.” Sam said, pulling Emily over to a strange looking man. He was dressed head to toe in chrome hearts with diamond jewelry and freshly cut hair. As he talked, it seemed that he controlled the room in a glamorous trance.

“Ah Sam!” The man turned to the woman and embarrassed her with laughter.

“Edmund! How are you, old pal?” Sam asked as they pulled apart.

“Good good. Now that I have launched my little side project I can finally afford that island I was looking at last year.” Edmund said, opening his arms to point at his success. “Who is this?” He said finally acknowledging the other woman.

“Oh how rude of me! Edmund, this is Emily Dickinson. A friend of mine.” Edmund gave Emily a suggestive smile. “And Emily, this is the amazingly talented fashion inventor and french extraordinaire, Edmund Des Beaux. We met when I took a trip to France a few years back.”

“Yes this one decided to go to a french night club when she did not in fact know any french! Luckily I was here to help this little one.”

“Edmund, you are only two months older than me.”

“Two months wiser my friend.” Edmund said, putting an arm around Sam. “Ah if you excuse me it seems that the duke has arrived. Ladies please look around and enjoy all of what my gallery has to offer.” Edmund practically floated over to the other side of the room to greet his new guest.

“Well Emily, shall we?” Sam asked, offering Emily her elbow.

“Yes we shall.” Emily responded, slipping her arm around Sams.

-

Thirty paintings and three glasses of wine later, Emily was still in awe at the amazing views around her.

“Seriously Sam this is just amazing.”

“I know. It’s like he just finds a way to put all the emotions in the world in one big painting.”

“Maybe he’s just compensating for something.” Emily whispered to Sue causing both of them to chuckle quietly with laughter.

“Ah ladies there you are!” Edmund said as he approached them.

“Edmund, these paintings are just beautiful. Really I mean just fantastic.” Emily praised.

“Oh these are nothing, if you really want to be surprised you should see my selection at home. Oh! Speaking of, I’m having a little after party at my place and would love it if you both could attend.”

“I wish we could Edmund but I already promised this one that I would get her home before 7.” Sam answered, putting her arm around Emily.

“Ah I understand I understand. Ever the modest one, Sam. Well I have a show in a few weeks, If you both are available you should attend.” Edmund handed out his business card. “Until next time Sam. Emily, it was a pleasure to meet you.” Edmund gave Sam a quick hug before placing a kiss on the back of Emily’s hand and walking away. So that’s where Sam gets it from.

“Well madame, our chariot awaits.” Sam said bowing before following Emily to the door.

-

After about 30 minutes of riding in the car, Emily quickly felt the effects of the three glasses of champagne she had as she dozed off to the smooth jazz that Sam put on.

“Emily. Emily wake up.” Sam whispered as Emily slowly opened her eyes. “Sorry, I didn’t want to wake you but we are almost there.”

“Oh right.” Emily went to move before she looked down to see a designer scarf covering her body.

“I thought you might have been cold so I grabbed that from the back seat and threw it on you at a red light.”

“Wow. Thank you Sam, that's really sweet.”

“Oh it was nothing.”

After a few minutes of silence, Sam spoke up again. “Hey so I know I said I would take you right home after but I wanted to know if you would mind it if we made a little pit stop.”

A part of Emily wanted to say no. She did have to get back to Sue of course but she had been having such a good time with Sam. It felt like for the first time in a long time, Emily was free. “You know what, Sam? I would love a pit stop.”

-

After Sam pulled over to get gas. And again to get food. They finally stopped at the top of a mountain. Sam turned off the engine and stared straight ahead.

“I used to come here all the time when I was a kid.” She spoke softly. “Back when I got my first car almost every weekend I spent out here watching the sunset on Saturday and rise on Sunday. “

“That sounds peaceful.”

“Oh it was. Believe me if it was possible to live up here, I would’ve.”

“Why didn’t you? I mean, why didn’t you build a house up here?”

“The truth?” Sam asked, looking at Emily. Emily nodded her head. “I didn’t have anyone to enjoy it with me.”

As the seconds ticked by they both stayed looking at each other. It felt like an eternity before either one of them leaned in. When they did however, Emiily’s breath stopped as Sam’s soft lips landed on hers. As soon as they met, Sam pulled back to give Emily an opportunity to lean back. When she didn't, Sam leaned back in.

Before their lips could meet, however, Emily caught herself glancing at the clock and her breath stopped for an entirely different reason.

There on the bright clock, the time read:

10:43pm

Notes:

Chapter 10: The Lake House Part 4

Summary:

Emily struggles with something she never thought would happen to her.

Notes:

Heyyyyy bitches!!! I'M BACK!! I'm not going to lie I just started college and have been busy 24/7 so writing this chapter was hard for me. Also writer's block is a bitch and definitely hit my ass several times while writing this chapter (I think you'll see the irony later on). But since I am back home I can now spend more time writing and hopefully go into the new year with multiple chapters written and published. This chapter is very heavy on Emily's internal thoughts and there is a flashback. Also please don't hate me I'm sorry in advance. So as always sit back, relax, and turn on that fan bestie because things are about to get messy!

Chapter Text

Emily pulled back in shock. Oh my god she can’t believe she forgot about Sue.

“Um. I think it's time to drive me home.” Emily turned away from Sam in shame.

“Did I do something wrong?” Sam asked concerned.

“No! No you didn’t do anything wrong. But I did.” Emily sighed. Sam looked at her confused so Emily decided to explain. “I was supposed to go to dinner with Sue tonight and I totally forgot.”

“Sue. That’s the one who's dating your brother right?”

Shit right. Emily forgot about that. “Yeah. We decided to have a girls night out together.”

“Ah cool cool. Then I guess we should get going.” Sue turned back on the engine and started to reverse so they could get out on the open road.

-

As they pulled up to the cabin, Emily mentally prepared herself for the argument that was sure to happen between her and Sue.

“Thank you for taking me out today, Sam. I had a good time.” Emily started to unbuckle her seatbelt and step out of the car.

“Me too. It sucks that it got cut short though.” Sam leaned out the window to continue to talk to Emily as she walked towards the door. “Hey Emily.” Sam called out.

“Yeah?” Emily called before Sam beckoned her over to the car. When Emily reached the car, Sam took her hand from the window and placed a kiss on the back of it.

“Thank you for accompanying me today. I’ll call you tomorrow?”

“Yeah sure.” Emily said as she moved back towards the door.

When Emily walked into the cabin it was quiet. Almost too quiet. Before she could freak out, George came inside from out on the deck. He was soaking wet in light blue swim trunks. He started drying off his body before he looked over to see Emily.

“Oh hey Emily! How was the date?” George asked, walking towards her.

“It wasn’t a date.”

“Really because that’s not what Vinnie said.”

“Vinnie? Wha-”

“She was all like ‘oh Emily will be busy all day long’ “ George started to do a goofy sexing dance while imitating Lavinia.

“Just- I’m looking for Sue. Do you know where she is?”

“Last time I checked she was changing into her bathing suit. Why?” Emily didn’t respond to him and instead started walking towards Sue’s bedroom. “You’re welcome!” George called after her.

-

When Emily made it to the door to the master bedroom she knocked before walking in to find Sue. Luckily she didn’t have to look far because Sue was sitting at the vanity putting lotion on her long legs.

“Sue there you are.”

“Oh hi, Emily. Didn’t see you there.” Sue said flatly.

“Sue, I am so sorry. I was hanging out with Sam and I completely lost track of time.”

“Save it Emily. We’re cool.”

“Really?” Emily scrunched her eyebrows together.

“Yeah. Now if you excuse me I have somewhere to be and I like to show up on time.” Sue spat as she bumped her shoulder with Emily’s before walking out the door.

So they are not in fact cool.

-

As Emily walked outside, she couldn’t help but feel her guilt eat her alive. She sighed as she plopped down at a deserted edge of the deck. “What a fucking go Emily.” She mumbled to herself.

“Hey.” Austin said as he sat down next to Emily, two beers in his hand. “Wanna talk about it?” He passed one to Emily which was immediately accepted by Emily as she twisted open the bottle and took a big gulp. “Woah slow down. The bottle isn’t going anywhere.”

“I fucked up Austin. Like big time.” Emily admitted.

“I’m gonna need more context then that Em.”

“Well I went out with Sam today and-”

“Oh right! How was your date?”

“It wasn’t a date.” Emily grunted.

“That’s not what Vinnie said” Austin mumbled before opening and taking a sip of his own beer.

“Oh I’m so gonna kill her. Look, that's not the point of my story. I was hanging out with Sam and I lost track of time and forgot I promised Sue that we could go out tonight and even though she says we are cool, her actions say otherwise.”

“Ah. I’ve been there. Once I forgot to text her and let her know that I got home safe after partying and she went MIA for like two days. Luckily one thing about Sue is, she always comes around.”

“Yeah right.” Emily mumbled.

“I’m serious. Emily I know you want to fix this like you try to fix everything but sometimes the best thing you can do is nothing.”

“Hey Austin, you’re up!” George yelled from the tv where everyone was singing karaoke.

“Looks like I have to go. But seriously give her some time. She’ll come around and everything will be okay” Austin patted Emily on the back as he got up from the deck and walked over to the group.“Now who is ready to see how a professional does it?”

While Emily couldn’t see what was happening, the opening chords of Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepsen told her all she needed and quickly got up and walked over to the group.

-

The next day Emily got up bright and early. It was strange as she always slept in but this day she decided to get a jump start on writing. After everything that happened yesterday Emily expected to have a lot to say yet here she was surrounded by crushed up pieces of paper, staring at a new blank sheet.

Emily pushed and pushed for her brain to work. For the wheels in her mind to turn and think of something to write. “Why can’t I think of anything?” Emily whispered into the air. She turned to look at her phone to see it was 4 am. Maybe she just needed more sleep. Yeah that's it! Emily thought. I am just too tired to think right now. Emily moved from the chair to her bed and tried to close her eyes.

When she woke up again, the sun was beginning to rise. Perfect. Now I can write. Emily jumped up and ran over to her desk. As she sat down, she started writing before her brain could process what was going on. Before she knew it one page was written. Then two. Three. Four. Wow I can’t remember the last time I wrote this much! Emily kept writing and writing. Instead of crushed up papers falling to the ground, flat ones filled with words floated away. Yes! This is it!

Emily opened her eyes. There were no piles of written paper. No sun rising above the horizon. And most importantly, there were no wildfires in her brain. “Oh you have got to be fucking kidding me.” Emily mumbled at the ceiling. She reached for her phone. 4:15 am. Great. Not only is my subconscious after me, so is the universe. Emily rose from her bed and slowly walked over to her desk.

By the time the sun actually did rise, the only change Emily added was more crushed up papers to the floor. Why is this happening to me? Before yesterday, everything was going fine. Sue and Emily were on good terms, Sam was just a crush, and I could think of things to write. Now, I don’t know what is going on.

Emily chuckled. A few years ago this would be her dream. Multiple girls after her and a break from always having to write. She remembered a time when this would be heaven.

“Babe! Amber, wait!” Emily called after the girl with long blonde hair and a black mini skirt as she walked away from Emily. They were sitting at a fancy restaurant for their anniversary when Amber suddenly got up and walked out.

“Just leave me alone, Emily.” She yelled at her.

“Oh come on! What happened? I thought we were having a good time.”

“Like you could even look up from your paper long enough to acknowledge me.”

“Wait what?” Emily stopped walking as Amber did. She looked confused as the other woman sighed and turned to look at her.

“All I asked was for one night where I could enjoy some time alone with my girlfriend and you only looked at me when the waiter asked if we were splitting the fucking bill.”

“What? That’s not true.”

“Then what did I order to eat?”

“Uh.” Damnit the one time Emily isn’t paying attention. “Shrimp?” She guessed.

“I’m allergic to shellfish. I ordered steak.”

“Oh. Right. Look I’m sorry, I’ve just been distracted lately.”

“That’s the thing Emily. You are always distracted. Even when we go to parties I only see you when we first arrive. Then I find you hours later drunk as hell or in the corner with a pencil and piece of paper in your hand.”

“That was one time. I don’t do that all the time.”

“There is literally a picture of you in the university newspaper at a Delta Chi party writing in the background of their group photo.”

“Okay well I really needed to finish that poem. It was really good.”

“It’s not like I would know right?”

“Ah. I see what all of this is about. It’s because I won’t let you read what I am writing.” Amber huffed and rolled her eyes. “If that’s what this is about I can show you one I wrote.” Emily started to dig in her jacket before pulling out a folded sheet of paper. “Oop not that one.” Emily continued to dig “Not this one either. Um…” Emily pulled out another sheet of paper. “This one is a receipt.”

“Emily-”

“No no I’ll show you. Maybe I have one saved in my phone.”

Amber reached out to stop her hand from pulling out her phone, “Just stop.” Her hand slid up Emily’s arm up to her cheek. “I think we should break up.”

“What? But-”

“Look Emily, you are sweet, and kind, and funny, and insanely good in bed but I don’t want to be second in this relationship.”

“You’re not.” Emily shook her head as tears began to form in her eyes. “You’re first, you’ve always been first.”

“No Emily. Your poems are first. They have always been first.” Amber’s own eyes started to well up. “I thought it was just because you liked to write but, I see now that it's so much more. Your poems they’re like an extension of you. They consume you to the point that you only have time for them.”

“No, that's not true. I have time for you. I can make more time-”

“If I asked you right now to choose between me and your poems, can you honestly say you would pick me?” Emily wanted too. She really did. But… “Exactly. That’s why I can’t ask you to. So, I’ll make the choice for you.” Amber reached to take off the necklace that Emily gave her for her birthday and handed it to her. “One day you’re going to find someone that can be number one. I hope that for her sake you’ll let her be.” Amber kissed Emily one last time on the lips as the tears finally fell down her face. “Good bye, Emily.”

When Emily snapped out of her thoughts, she was still looking down at a blank sheet of paper. Why did her brain make her think about this now? She wondered. I’ve only known Sue for like a few months. There is no way I could know this early if she’s the one. I do know that I fucked up though. Regardless of the fact that she is dating Austin, she didn’t deserve to be stood up. If only I knew why she hates Sam so much. What if she is the one instead?

Just then, there was a knock at her door. “Go away.” Emily said uninterested.

“Nope, wrong person.” Lavinia said through the door. “And I’m coming in whether you like it or not so I hope you’re clothed.” Lavinia covered her eyes as she slowly opened the door.

“I’m not naked, Vinnie.”

“Oh thank god.” Lavina removed her hand and walked into the room. “Woah. I was just coming to let you know that breakfast was ready but it seems like you already have a lot on your plate. No pun intended”

“Ugh.” Emily slammed her head down on the desk. “I think I have writer's block.”

“I’m sorry I must be hallucinating because I think I just heard you say that you have writer's block.”

Emily lifted her head at her sister, “I do.”

“I thought you said you don’t get writer’s block.”

“I don’t!” Emily leaned back in her chair and ran her fingers through her hair. “Maybe I’m just dying. I mean the brain does shut down when you die right?”

“Okay maybe let’s not jump to conclusions just yet. Maybe you’re just tired. Why don’t you go lay down and I’ll bring up some food for you.” Lavinia moved to lift Emily up and help her walk over to the bed. “Just relax. Everything will be okay.” Lavinia swiftly moved towards the door.

Around twenty minutes later, there was another knock at the door. Emily’s immediate first response was to groan in frustration before turning her head towards the door and yelling a quick “Go away,”

Instead of listening the door opened and Hattie walked in with a plate and drink in her hand. “Sorry but Vinnie said you would say that and for me to ignore you.”

“Of course she did.” Emily mumbled.

“Woah. She told me you had writer’s block but I didn’t think it would be this bad.” Hattie walked over to her desk and moved the crumbled papers off of it to place the plate and drink down. “Speaking of. Anything?”

Emily scrunched her eyebrows together and thought for a solid moment. “Nope. My brain is empty.”

“Well that sucks. But hey, it will come back to you.” Hattie walked over to Emily and sat on the bed. “Also, Sue seemed very off today. You wouldn’t have something to do with that, would you?”

Emily sighed, “I thought Sue would have already told you about what happened.”

“Oh she did. I just want to hear your side of things.”

“I promised Sue that we would go to dinner last night and instead of actually doing that, I stayed out with Sam. Now Sue isn’t talking to me and to make matters worse I kissed Sam last night. I don’t understand how this happened or how I’m going to fix it.” Emily sat up and faced Hattie. “Like last week I was so happy and things were going fine and now, it just feels like everything is going wrong.”

Hattie put a hand on Emily’s shoulder, “Well not everything can be perfect 100 percent of the time, Emily. But just because things are bad now doesn’t mean they will stay that way. You just have to remain positive. Everything’s going to be okay.”

What if they aren’t. What if I don’t want them to be. Emily thought shamefully.

“Well you can’t think all cooped up in this room. How about you eat the meal I so graciously made you and then try to find another place to wallow. Oh! I know! We are all about to go shopping. So you can go down stairs and write, then later you can try patching things up with Sue.”

“I don’t know, Hattie.”

“Just try okay?” Hattie patted Emily on the back before walking out the door.

-

After eating the surprisingly delicious plate of food that Hattie gave her and taking a quick shower, Emily decided to sit on the kitchen aisle in hopes that it would help her think of something to write. As she sat crisscrossed she looked at the blank sheet of paper. In her eyes it was taunting her, letting her know that she had failed. “Fuck you” Emily mumbled to the paper. Just then she heard someone clear their throat. She looked up to see Sue staring back at her.

“Hello.” Sue said politely before going to the fridge and getting a bottle of water.

“Hi.” Emily dismissively responded. She wasn’t going to say anything else but after Sue made it clear that she wasn’t leaving by sitting down, she spoke up. “I thought everyone was going shopping.” Emily questioned without looking up.

“Yeah they did. I just wasn’t feeling up to it so I stayed back.” Emily hummed in response. There was another beat of awkward silence. “So, Vinnie said that you have writer’s block. Is it true?”

Emily paused for a second as she looked at the blank sheet of paper that was very obviously visible from where Sue was sitting. “Yeah.” Emily said with a hint of sarcasm. Can she not see the paper? Like no fucking shit. Emily thought.

“Well maybe you should ask someone for help.” Sue fidgeted with her fingers. “Like Sam.” Sue said under their breath. So quiet that if Emily wasn’t listening she would’ve missed it.

Emily didn’t know what happened next. All she knew was she saw red. All of the frustration and anger that was building inside of her started to spill. Like a rising volcano ready to take the lives of passing villagers. Fuck this.

And that is it! As you can see Emily is about to have a D1 crash out so stay tuned! As always kudos and comments are greatly appreciated and I do respond back to every comment. See you guys hopefully in a few days! Bye Peeps!

Chapter Text

“Do you know what’s so funny, Sue?” Emily got up from her spot on the kitchen aisle and started to walk over to Sue. “You think that the one person other than you that likes me is evil because you’re jealous, but you met Austin before you met me and I have never once said a single thing bad about him.”

Sue scrunched her eyebrows together, “You are his sister, Emily. If you were to say anything bad about him I would believe you.”

“Oh right like you would believe me over my perfect brother right?” Emily commented as she got closer to Sue.

“Emily, what are you talking about?”

“I’m talking about you dating my brother while hooking up with me and then having the nerve to tell me that it’s wrong that I am seeing someone else.” Emily was now in Sue’s face as she spoke. “News flash Sue, we are not together which means that you can’t just get jealous when I see other people while laying in my brother's bed.”

“Look Emily I understand that you are under a lot of stress with your writer’s block and everything but that is not an excuse for you to take it out on me.” Sue spoke in a calming voice. “Why don’t you just breathe and calm down. Okay?” Sue reached out to place a hand on Emily’s arm. “Everything is going to be okay.”

“Stop. Stop. STOP!” Emily shouted as she stepped back. “I am sick and tired of everyone telling me that everything will be okay! Everything is okay! I am okay! Everything is fine and I don’t need you or Austin or Lavinia or Hattie or anyone else to tell me it’s not!” Sue moved back like she had been burned. “Do you even hear yourself Sue? It’s like you aren’t even listening to anything I am saying.” Emily spoke softly.

Sue’s eye’s began to glaze over. “You’re right. I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.”

“Can you even look me in the face and tell me that what Sam did to you is worse than what you are doing to my brother?”

Sue looked her coldly in the face, “Yes.”

“Then for the love of fucking god tell me what she did!” Emily demanded. Sue opened her mouth as she was about to say something but she instead closed it and looked down at the ground. “You can’t, can you?” Emily was met with silence. She scoffed and looked down to force Sue to meet her eyes. “You are fucking pathetic, Sue.” Emily felt anger inside of her as she kept going, “I asked you for just one reason not to trust Sam and you can’t give it to me. But I have seen so many not to trust you.” Emily heard Sue sniffle as she continued. “And guess what Sue?”

“What?” Sue whispered.

“I kissed Sam last night and that poem that you read earlier wasn’t about you. It was about her. I was thinking about fucking her when I wrote it.”

As if something snapped in Sue, she reached up and slapped Emily across the face. When Emily turned her head to look her in the eyes, she was met with what she could only describe as pure pain.

“Sue I-” Emily didn’t get to finish her sentence as she walked away.

Well fuck. Emily thought. I need to get the hell out of here.

-

Emily ran outside and stopped at the porch. “FUCK!” She screamed at the sky. How could this happen? Emily balled her fist in anger and before she knew it she kicked the newspaper nearby a few feet ahead of her. Wait a second. Emily thought as she caught a glimpse of the front cover before she kicked it.

Emily ran over to the newspaper and picked it up. She skimmed the front of it as her eyes landed on what she could only describe as her worst fear. Over in the right corner of the paper under the title, ‘Artist of the week’ was her own words. It only took her reading the first few lines to realize it was the poem she wrote about Sam.

“But how?” She questioned as she flipped the paper over to read the rest of the story. To her surprise, the last sentence read: This poem was written by Emily Dickinson, a small and unknown poet discovered by the amazing and talented publicist, Samantha Bowles.

“Oh hell no.”

-

5 minutes later, Emily found herself in front of Sam’s door. She didn’t know what she was going to do but she did know that it involved yelling at Sam for stealing her work.
She took a deep breath and quickly knocked on the door three times in a row. I’m just going to yell and then leave. Emily thought as she tried to think of what she was going to say.

She heard the door creak open before she looked up. To her shock, the person in front of her was not Sam. It was a young woman with dirty blond hair and tired eyes.

“Hi.” The woman said with a polite smile.

“Um..hello. I’m sorry, I think I have the wrong house.” Emily looked up to check the numbers on the door. It matched the ones she read off Sam’s business card. “I’m looking for Samantha Bowles?” Emily questioned.

“Oh no you have the right place. Just give me one second.” The woman turned her head to face back into the house. “Sammy honey, someones at the door for you!” The woman shouted. “She’ll be out in just a minute.”

“I hope it’s not one of those pesky contractors-” Sam said as she came into the frame. “Oh, Emily. What can I do for you?” Sam asked as she wrapped her arm around the woman next to her.

Emily remained silent as she looked at Sam in disbelief. They stayed there staring at each other until the woman next to Sam cleared her throat.

“Oh right. Mary, this is Emily Dickinson. She’s one of the neighbors from that one house that had the earring stuck in the drain.” The woman next to her nodded as she seemed to remember the story. “Emily, this is my wife, Mary.”

Emily froze. There is no way. “Your wife?” She repeated.

“Guilty.” The woman responded as she showed Emily her very flashy ring. “So Emily, how can we help you?”

“Well I was just wondering if I could talk to Sam about something.”

“Oh of course! Why don’t you both go to her office while I start the kettle.” Mary suggested. “Emily, would you like some tea?” It’s like she is the reincarnation of a 50’s housewife. Emily thought.

“Actually I think we’ll talk outside. I mean it's so beautiful today, why not enjoy it?” Sam spoke sickeningly sweet. It drove Emily crazy.

-

Sam and Emily sat in silence as Emily tried to figure out what she was going to say first. As she looked at Sam she couldn’t understand why she was so calm. Did she not find Emily that threatening or did she just not care. Either way the aviator shades she wore as she sat back on one of the lounge chairs pushed Emily towards the latter.

“How long have you been married?” Emily finally decided to ask.

“6 years.” Sam responded not even looking at Emily. Emily scuffed as she couldn’t believe it.

“Does she know that you are cheating on her?” Emily spat out.

“My wife has her secrets and I have mine.” Sam turned to face Emily. “While I do enjoy talking about my marriage, I know that’s not the real reason you came here. So, what do you want?”

“What do I want? Do you want to know what I want, Sam?” Emily stood up and threw the newspaper on the table. “I want to know what the hell this is.” Emily said pointing at the poem in the paper.

“Ah, I see you read the paper.” Sam picked up the paper and flipped through it. “To be honest, I didn’t think you would even notice.”

“A small and unknown poet discovered by the amazing and talented publicist, Samantha Bowles.” Emily reiterated.

“Has a nice ring to it, I know.” Sam smiled.

“You stole my writing. I trusted you and you stole my writing.”

“Oh please. I helped you. I could see it in your eyes. You wanted my help.”

“What?” Emily shook her head in disbelief.

“Do you know who Nico Lampang is?”

“The famous writer? What does she have to do with anything?”

“Well, she’s starting a new publishing company and she’s always looking for new people to bring in. Let’s just say I sent her your poem and she wants to sign you. I was thinking we go 60/40 with you getting the majority obviously and-”

“What no! I don’t want that-” Emily cut herself off as she came to a startling realization. “It was you. I couldn’t write all day and I thought it was something to do with me but it’s not. It’s you. You took my kingdom to create your empire.”

“Okay, yes I looked through your bag when you went to the restroom at the farmers market and found the poem. But atleast I only took screen shots and left you with the actual copy. And I gave you rights in the newspaper. Not to mention it cost me quite the favor to have your poem sent to the editorial staff in time to get it on the paper this week.”

“Oh my god. Sue was right. You are evil.”

“Sue. That’s why you’re so pissed. Let me guess, she told you about how we used to date and I ended things.”

“You and Sue used to date?”

“She didn’t tell you? And here I was thinking you guys told each other everything. Don’t worry, I’ll tell you. We used to date in college. She was…sweet but not someone my parents would approve of. So when it was time for me and Mary to tie the knot, I tried to end things. But some people just don’t get that ghosting means that you don’t want to see them.”

“What did you do?”

“The only thing I could do. I invited her to my engagement party and broke up with her once and for all.” Emily stared at Sam in anger. Sam smiled in return, “You know, I love this house. If I could stay here permanently, I would. And the view is just amazing. If you stand right over there,” Sam pointed to the right end of the dock. “You get the perfect view of the mountains.”

Emily swallowed the lump that suddenly appeared in her throat. “You are the devil.”

Sam took off her shades to look Emily in the eyes. “I am a feminist.”

Emily turned away and walked towards the door.

“Emily.” Sam called out to her. Emily stopped in her tracks. “In case it wasn’t clear, if you tell Mary about my affair I’ll tell Austin’s about yours. So don’t fuck with me.”

Emily gulped as she walked away.

She almost made it to the door when Mary noticed her.

“Oh Emily. Are you leaving already? The tea is almost done if you want to wait.”

Emily took a deep breath before turning around to face her. It was now or never. “Sam is cheating on you. I know there are two people but I’m pretty sure there’s more.” Mary stared at Emily for what seemed like an eternity before a tear fell down her face.

“How do you know?” Mary asked, as quiet as a mouse.

“Because I’m one of them.” Emily said, shedding a tear of her own. “I’m so sorry.” Emily wiped her face as she walked out the door.

Chapter Text

As the sun shined bright through her blinds, Sue slowly woke up from her sleep. She expected to see a curly haired beauty sleeping next to her but to her disappointment, she was standing and putting on her clothes.

Sam looked over at Sue. “Oh good morning. I didn’t notice you were awake.”

“You’re leaving?” Sue asked slowly, sitting up.

“Yeah I have to run by my dad’s office to pick up some papers.” Sam said, putting on her shirt.

“At 7:30 in the morning?”

“Better to be early than to be late.” Sam walked over to Sue and kissed her on the lips. “I’ll call you later.”

“Wait. You remembered about tonight right?” Sue questioned.

“Uh. Tonight?”

“Yeah, we are going to the bar where Ben works, remember?”

“Oh! Yeah! That. Of course I remember. I’ll uh see you at…”

“8:30” Sue mumbles.

“8:30 right! See you at 8:30.” Sam grabs her jacket and heads out the door.

-

Sue sighs as she checks her phone for the third time. 9:00. Sam was 30 minutes late. She should’ve seen it coming. Ever since Sue bought up the fact that they have been together for 6 months and Sue hasn’t met her parents yet, Sam had been flakey. She finished the rest of her third drink with a sigh.

“Here.” Ben passed Sue a cocktail.

“I didn’t ask for that.” Sue said gloomy.

“I know. It's on the house.” He smiled.

“Ben, I just don’t know where I went wrong. I mean we were doing so well and then she just went ghost. I mean, I get having complicated parents but this is just crazy!” Sue shouts downing her drink.

“Okay why don’t I take you home.” Ben moved to the other side of the bar.

“But you’re working.” Sue slurred.

“Yeah but taking care of my best friend is worth getting chewed out by my boss.” He grabbed Sue’s purse and phone. “Hey Deb, I have to take her home but I’ll be back.” Ben yelled as he wrapped Sue’s arm around his neck and walked out the door.

To no one’s surprise, Sam was outside the bar the whole time. She leaned on her car talking to a group of women. Ben sighed as he tried to walk past Sam without Sue noticing.

“H-hey. That looks like Sam!” Sue shouted while pointing in her direction. Sam looked up and noticed that the drunk woman shouting at her was Sue. She said a few words to the ladies before they all walked away. She fixed her hair as she walked over to Sue and Ben.

Ben sighed as Sam walked up. “Hey hun.” Sam said to Sue.

“Hey Sam!” Sue shouted.

“Hello Sam.” Ben deadpanned.

“Oh hey Brian.” Sam responds.

“It’s Ben.”

“Is it really? Huh crazy.” Sam snorts.

Ben rolls his eyes. “How nice of you to show up. It's not like she was waiting for 30 minutes or anything.” Ben sarcastically says.

“Yeah I had to go pick up some papers from my dad’s office.” Sam responded.

“Didn’t you say you were doing that this morning?” Sue slurs. Ben glares at Sam. Sue burst out in laughter.

“Okay Sue, let's get you home.” Ben continues to walk away.

“I can take her.” Sam says.

“Nope. I got it.” Ben quickly responded.

-

As days went by, Sue saw Sam less. It wasn’t until 2 weeks after seeing her last that
Sue gave up hope. That was until she received a message from Sam inviting her to a party.

She spent an hour getting ready. From the invitation it looked like some sort of formal
party so she chose an all black cocktail dress from her closet. She went light on the makeup but chose to leave her long hair down. She smiled in the mirror as she grabbed her bag and headed to the venue.

-

When she arrived at the venue, she was shocked to see the whole place decorated with
an arraignment of bright flowers. She gasped as she took all of it in.

After 15 minutes of trying to find Sam, Sue decided to head to the bar.

“Can I just get a club soda, please.” Sue said, looking for her wallet.

“Sue?” A voice said to her. She looked up to see Ben behind the bar.

“Ben? What are you doing here?”

“The bar was chosen to cater. What are you doing here?”

“Sam invited me.”

Ben gulped, “S-she did?”

“Yeah. She didn’t tell me what the event was for but judging by the balloons I think it's for some anniversary.” Sue looked at the heart shaped balloons that had ‘S+M’ in the center of them. “Oh, maybe it's her parents' anniversary! Crazy she never told me she was a second. Oh my god, do you think she invited me to meet them?”

Ben grew nervous. “Uh Sue? Can we talk in private?” Before she could answer, Ben walked around the bar and grabbed Sue’s hand. He pulled her to a corner where nobody could hear their conversation.

“Ben what’s going on?” Sue asked, confused.

“Look I was going to tell you later but since you are here I’ll tell you now. This party isn’t what you think it is”

“What do you mean?” Sue grew worried.

“This party isn’t Sam’s parents’ anniversary party. This is Sam’s engage-” Ben was cut off by the sound of a mic clearing.

“Hello! Can I have everyone's attention, please!” Sam’s voice rang through a speaker.

“Oh that’s Sam.” Sue moved to walk away.

“Wait Sue-” Ben grabbed her hand.

“Look Ben I’m pretty sure what you have to say can wait until after the speech. Now come on, I want to be able to talk to her after she’s done.” Sue continued to walk away until she was in the crowd of people. She stared at Sue in hopes that she would look back.

“I want to first thank everyone for coming out tonight. This is a special night for me.” Sam looked around the crowd. Her eyes faltered as she landed on Sue. Sue smiled and waved at Sam. “Um.” Sam cleared her throat. “A few months ago, someone special came into my life. She filled my dark world with light. Whenever I was feeling down, I knew I could go to her and she would make everything better. I know I’m not the easiest person to be around but I thank her every day for sticking up with me.” Everyone laughs as Sue smiles. This is what she has been waiting for. The moment that Sam lets her into her world. “So please help me welcome my future wife, Mary.”

Sue’s heart sank as she stood still. She didn’t know what to do or say. The cheers of everyone around her faded away. She had so many questions. Future wife? We have been together for months. What does she mean future wife? As Sam’s fiance gave her speech, Sue’s blood ran cold.

“Sue? Are you okay?” Ben asked her. Only to Sue it seemed like an echo. Like he wasn’t standing right next to her.

Sue had only one thought in her mind. Run. So she turned around and walked out of the venue. She was halfway down the corridor when a voice called out to her.

“Sue! Sue, wait! Just stop!” She didn’t realize who it was until Sam stood in front of her.

Sue let out a breath she had been holding since she walked out. “Move.” She whispered.

“Please just let me explain myself.” Sam pleaded. Sue stood still as she waited for Sam to continue. “My parents arranged my marriage with Mary when I turned 18. It’s good for the company so my parents thought it was also good for me too. I held it off for as long as I could but a few months ago they started pressing me about it. I wasn’t going to do it I swear but then they started talking about freezing my accounts and..”

“So you agreed to marry her so you could keep your precious money?” Sue tried to hide the hurt in her voice but she could tell by the pity look on Sam’s face that she failed. “What about me? What about us?”

“Oh come on Sue.” Sam moved closer to her.

“Wait. That’s why you didn’t want me to meet your parents. Because you already have a girlfriend.” Tears started to fill Sue’s eyes.

“They wouldn’t approve of us dating even if I wasn’t engaged to Mary. We come from two different worlds, Sue. Family means a lot to them and you don’t have one.”

“Oh fuck you. You know what, why don’t we go see just how much they would disapprove.” Sue moves around Sam in an attempt to go back to the party. Sam however was a step ahead of her and picked her up. “What the hell? Let me go!” Sue tried to wiggle out of Sam's grip but she just tightened it and continued to walk towards the door.

“I’m sorry Sue but I can’t let you ruin this for me!” Sam screamed back. As they made it to the front door, Sam let go of Sue. “Look, I tried to let you down nicely but it is obvious that you haven’t gotten the fucking message so let me make it crystal clear for you.” Sam got right in Sue’s face. “We are done and if you tell anyone about us, I will ruin your and their pathetic life. Now leave. And don’t come back.” Sam pushed Sue out the door and slammed it back. “If she tries to get in again, call the police!” Sam shouted at security before fixing her suit and walking away.

Sue stood there, tears streaming down her face, and fell to the ground. “FUCK!” She screamed as she let all of the pain she had been holding in at the party go in one motion. The ground was cold but she didn’t care as she sat down. She poured her eyes out for what seemed like hours before Ben walked out and found her.

“Sue.” He sighed as he moved to kneel next to her. After confirming that she didn’t have any injuries, He picked her up bridal style and carried her to his car. As soon as she was buckled into the passenger seat, she laid her head on the window and gazed out of it.

“I’m driving you home, okay?” Ben spoke up. He sighed again as she didn’t respond.

-

After Ben managed to get Sue out of her clothes and into her pajamas, he sat her down in front of her vanity and used a makeup wipe to clean her face. Sue felt numb. She hadn’t talked since her interaction with Sam. As she thought back at it, tears started to flow down her face.

“She never wanted me.” Sue whispered. Ben rushed to engulf her in a hug as she cried into his shirt.

After a few minutes, Ben moved her to her bed and tucked her in. He promised to check on her in the morning before grabbing his things and leaving. Sue laid there, tears streaming down her face. She knew that it would be a difficult road to recovery, but that she would process that later as she closed her eyes.

Chapter Text

Emily let out a huff as she walked back into the cabin. She couldn’t believe what just happened. Sam lied to her, used her, manipulated her. And Sue tried to warn her. She felt a pit in her stomach as she remembered the fight they had earlier. She didn’t know how she was going to come back from that. She was halfway to the kitchen when Lavinia stopped her in her tracks.

“Oh Emily! Just the women I’ve been looking for.” Lavinia stepped in her way stopping her.

“Look Vinnie I’m really not in the mood for whatever it is you are about to say.

“Too bad. Remember that dress I lent you on your date? I need it back.”

Emily sighed, “Okay. I’ll give it to you later.”

“But I need it now so come on.” Lavinia pushed Emily towards the stairs.

“Fine! Fine, I’ll get it.” Emily grunted stomping up the stairs. “If it means you’ll leave me alone.” Emily walked into her room and stopped in her tracks.

“Emily?” Sue said from the corner of her room.

“Sue? What are you doing here?” Emily said with confusion.

“Hattie told me to get her a pencil so we could play pictionary. What are you doing here?”

“Lavinia said she wanted her dress she lent me back.” Emily paused as she heard the door lock. “Wait.” She ran to the door and tried to open it. Just her luck however it was locked.

“What the hell?” Sue questioned as she pounded on the door.

“Let us out!” Emily yelled through the door.

“No can do.” Hattie responded through the door.

“Yeah you guys are going to stay in there until you work out your issues.” Lavinia yelled.

Emily’s heart dropped, “Wait what are you talking about?”

“I know everything, Emily. And later we will have a very deep and long sibling conversation about it but now you two need to talk it out.”

“How did you find out?” Emily asked.

“I told her.” Hattie replied. “You can yell at me about it later but you two aren’t getting out until you make up. So start talking!”

“And you better be finished before dinner because I’m hungry!” Lavinia added.

Both Emily and Sue sighed.

“Well what now?”

-

Ten minutes later, Sue spun in Emily’s desk chair as Emily picked at a hangnail on her bed.

“Can you just stop spinning?” Emily snapped.

Sue stopped, “You’re the reason we are in this mess.” Sue planted her feet down and started spinning again.

“I’m sorry.” Emily mumbled. Sue stopped spinning and turned to face Emily. “You were right. Sam stole my poem and put it in the newspaper. Then she tried to sell me to a publishing company like she owned me.” Emily felt herself get emotional. “I’m so sorry that I didn’t believe you.”

Sue sighed. She wheeled over to Emily on the bed and held her hands. “No Emily, I’m sorry. You were also right. You don’t owe me anything. Especially while I’m still dating Austin. I’m sorry that I made you feel like you did. Will you forgive me?”

Emily gave a small smile, “Of course I forgive you. I could never stay mad at you, Sue.” Emily slowly rubbed Sue’s knuckles for a silent moment. “Sue?”

“Yes?”

“Sam also told me about what happened between you two.”

Sue let out a huff, “Oh. She did?”

Emily shook her head. “Why didn’t you tell me?”

Sue nervously bit her lip, “Sam was worried about her reputation. She always has been. She cared so much about how she looked and being seen as perfect. So, when I found out she was engaged, she told me that if I told anyone about us that she would ruin their life and mine. And I just couldn’t let her ruin your life.” Sue looked down in shame.

Emily grabbed her head and forced Sue to look at her. “That choice is up to me.” Emily gave Sue a peck on the lips. They both sighed as all the tension that had been building between them faded away in the kiss. As they pulled away, they placed their foreheads against one anothers.

“Since we are talking about choices, I think we should tell Austin.” Emily opened her mouth to protest. “Look I know you don’t want to hurt him but I feel like waiting will only hurt more.”

“You’re right.” Emily admitted.

“I…am?”

“Yeah. Austin should know. But what if we wait just until the trip is over. Then we can tell him. I promise.”

Sue sighed, “Okay.”

Just then the door opened and Hattie stood in front of it with Lavinia in the background.

“See? Was that so hard?” Hattie asked moving out the way so they could leave.

“Yeah yeah lets just go eat.” Emily said. She was behind the group when her phone buzzed. She opened it to see a message from Sam. What it said made Emily’s blood run cold.

Sam [8:30pm]: I told you not to fuck with me.

-

At dinner, all of the tension in the air lifted as they all laughed around the table. Austin was sitting in the center with Sue on his right and George to his left. Lavinia was next to Sue and Emily was sitting on the other side in front of Sue. Hattie was on her left talking to Lavinia and Mabel was on Emily’s right talking to Jane sitting next to her.

“Can someone pass me the bread?” Emily asked.

“Oh I’ve got it.” Sue said, grabbing a bowel. Their fingers grazed as Emily reached for the bowl.

“Thank you.” Emily mumbled, looking away quickly. A small smile on her lips. After a few minutes, Emily realized that she needed salt that was on the other side of the table. “Sorry, can someone pass the salt?”

Sue reached to pick it up when Austin’s hand went out to stop her. “Lavinia can hand it to her. She is closer to the salt after all.”

The table went silent as Lavinia handed Emily the salt. Then all eyes went to Austin who picked up the bottle of wine and chugged two glasses one after the other.

“Um Austin, is everything okay?” Sue asked, placing a hand on Austin’s shoulder.

“That depends.” He said, shrugging off Sue’s hand and reaching for the bottle again.

“On what?” Sue asked.

“How long you’ve been fucking my sister.”
