Chapter Text
Link, please, wake up. Link. Wake up. Hyrule needs you. Link, open your eyes.
He groaned as he blinked sleep out of his eyes, the strange greenish-blue liquid(although he had to admit, it was more similar to a goop of some sort than a liquid) drained out of the odd pool he was laying in. Of course, he knew that it felt better on his tongue to say blueish-green, but blueish-green was more like a teal. This was more a green with some hints and tints of blue, hints of blue and tints of blue being to completely different things, of which the goop had had both. 'Had had'? Was that even proper grammar?
He didn't quite know, and he guessed that he'd been asleep for far too long.
Reluctantly, he sat up, and rubbed his eyes, before yawning, and climbing out of the tub, only for his legs to fail him when he hit the ground. It took-oh, he didn't actually quite know! Time was a fickle thing, and he wasn't good at keeping track of it at all, it seemed. After stretching and massaging his legs to the best of his known ability, trying to get them to wake back up, assuming that that was the proper term for the act of reversing the affects of that moment when a limb falls asleep, he stood up, and examined his surroundings.
Link, that over there on the pedestal is the Sheikah Slate. Take it. It will help guide you after your long slumber. And take that bag next to the pedestal as well, you'll need it to carry your supplies.
He decided that he didn't like being told what to do. And he didn't know who the hell Link was. Based on context clues, he figured that it was probably him, but it didn't feel right, the name just didn't feel like it belonged to him. But still, he walked over to the pedestal, took the Sheikah Slate, and after figuring out that he was supposed to place it on his belt, he grabbed the dusty bag, and walked out of the room.
In the hall, there were two chests, one had the lock facing him, and the other was on its side. Experimentally, he kicked the side of the overturned chest, and winced in pain when it hurt his foot. Carefully, he opened up the chest, and pulled out an old, torn shirt, that thankfully wasn't too dusty. He pulled it on and opened the other chest, putting on the pants and the shoes(and socks of course) on that he retrieved from there. The fabric from all three cloth(or cloth-like) clothing articles burned, and gave him bad vibes. The shows were too tight, but not like they weren't broken in. He didn't exactly know how to explain it, but it was probably normal, or he was just strange. He simply dismissed the feeling and waded through the water, and climbed up the small wall(if that was the proper word), and stumbled into the daylight.
Once his eyes adjusted, it was beautiful, and all too familiar. He just didn't know why. He felt so eager to see everything. In awe, he turned around in a circle, taking in everything, when his eyes landed back on the place he had emerged from. The Shrine of Resurrection, he remembered. Then, suddenly, images and colors and sounds and smells flooded his mind, and he let out a gasp, stumbling backwards.
Link was breathing calmly, and gently as Aerin held him gently in his arms, bridal style. He could hear the man praying to the Goddess, and his tears would fall onto Link's face. Across the room, Purah was quickly trying to finish setting up the Shrine of Resurrection. Please don't die,
Aerin whispered quietly to himself, and Link smiled softly.
Hey, you know me,
he whispered back. I don't stop until everyone's safe, and as long as my job as left unfinished, I'll always come back.
He coughed, blood on his tongue. I'll be alright, kid.
he coughed again. Aerin gave him a sad smile. The kid was only 19, as compared to Link's 20(almost 21).
Hey, were almost the same age,
he protested quietly. Link laughed, before coughing again, blood speckling his lips. Link!
Aerin yelled, lying him down on the stone ground, and kneeling by his side.
I'm fine, Aerin,
he coughed as he sat up, propping himself up on the wall. Nothing viral was injured, I'll be fine. The Princess is overdramatic.
The Princess is just doing what she thinks is best. She loves you Link, you're like the brother she never had.
Aerin reminded him as he pealed off the damaged and bloody Champion's Tunic from his body, and set it aside, nicely folded, before working on untieing his boots for him. I know that right now you probably feel terrible and want to die, but you have to hold on for me, ok?
Tears swarmed and blurred Link's vision, and he coughed again, choking on his own blood and saliva for a moment. He was afraid. He didn't want to lose anyone. Link wanted to save everyone, but he knew that if he let them do this, there would be no chance of saving everyone left. His friends would die, by natural causes or by Calamity Ganon's hand. He couldn't let that happen. I don't want to go,
he whispered, and his friend took his hand, his boots and socks discarded.
Hey, let's make a deal, ok? You let me do this to help you, and I'll leave you some advice and help for when you wake up, that way your friends and family will be with you on this adventure when you wake up, ok?
he asked, and Link nodded, tears spilling out onto his face. Aerin smiled and wiped away his tears, before helping him out of his pants and gently laying him down in the shrine. Good luck, Link. I'll see you in a couple hundred years.
Aerin said, and Purah pressed a button, and the greenish-blue liquid began to rise, filling his lungs and making him feel like he was drowning.
It wasn't any sort of dream or memory or vision anymore. He was dieing. He gasped and choked, fighting for air. He couldn't die, not like this! He was, Link, most likely. And Link seemed to be some sort of warrior or champion. He had to die with honor, not like this, like a coward. 'Get yourself together!' he screamed inwardly at himself, and after an embarrassing amount of time, he managed to pull himself together enough that he could function properly, but still, panic beat furiously in his chest, and he felt like he was drowning still. Like his ribcage was being compressed by some sort of snake or rope of some sort. It hurt. It burned. He had to ignore it. He was crawling in his own skin.
Shaking like a child, he made his way down the hill, cursing himself for being so weak and childish. He was Link, the Hero! Heroes didn't act like this, dammit! He was passing by a small cave-like structure towards the bottom of the hill when he heard a small, muted voice in the back of his mind. Hey, kid, are you alright?
I'm fine, leave me alone,
he muttered, but the voice seemed to follow him anyways, to his annoyance.
Kid, I may be old, but I'm no fool.
the voice insisted. Please, just don't lie to me. I can help.
Link didn't want to ask the voice for help-in fact, it was the last thing he ever wanted to do, but the voice grabbed him and turned him around to face him, pulling Link for a hug. At first, he tried to protest, but slowly, he felt his breathing slow down and even out, his heart rate lowering until finally, he was calm, all except for the tears now pouring down his face.
Shush, hey, it's ok kiddo.
The Old Man said softly, gently petting Link's hair. There's nothing for you to be sorry for. It's alright. Everyone gets upset and panics sometimes. Even heroes.
How did you know?
he whispered. The Old Man smiled.
I've been waiting for you, kiddo. And as for your unspoken question of how I knew what to do,
the Old Man sighed and pulled out of the hug, looking off towards a strange blob that must be some sort of landmark in the distance. I had a daughter once. But I put to much pressure on her.
The Old Man chuckled, but Link new he was sad. I royally messed that up. But I've learned from my mistakes, and since I'll never be able to apologize properly, if at all, ever, I know that I can atone for my mistakes and help people, fix what I did before even, if I make sure not to make them again.
What was she like?
Link asked, and the Old Man smiled.
Well, she had a firery temper, and a bold personality, just like her mother. She wasn't afraid to call out anyone on their idiocity, especially me.
The Old Man had a nostalgic look on his face, and the pair sat by the fire in his little cavern-like space(Link noted that he needed to learn the name of that type of natural structure). Zelda was a scholar at heart, and she was kind too. I wish her mother could have lived to see how strong, independent young woman she grew to be.
The Old Man let out a sigh. But enough about me, I have a duty to fulfill, don't I. I ought to show you the ropes of how to survive out here in the wild, and help you complete your quest.
The Old Man stood and Link stood with him, eyes following the direction in which the Old Man was pointing. You see that pile of rubble? You need to go inside it, and attach the Sheikah Slate to the terminal. From there, find something to hold onto, because there will be some shaking for a short while. Once you get there, I'll help guide you some more, ok kiddo?
Link nodded eagerly, glad that he was given a short and simple task to do. At his waist, the Slate vibrated, and Link grabbed it, switching to the Quests icon. A bright smile came into his face when he noticed that when he was given a task, the Slate took note of it and organized everything for him. That was incredibly useful. He then put away the Slate and smiled at the Old Man. Alright, thanks sir!
Link picked up a branch which he decided that it would be smart to use as a weapon, and he ran off towards the rubble, before doubling back and running back up to the man. Wait, I never got your name, sir!
The Old Man smiled. Call me Ronan, kiddo.
he said. Link smiled and nodded.
Alright Mister Ronan Sir!
he said with a bright smile, and he ran off towards the pile of rubble. And the Old Man, the late King of Hyrule-Ronan, as he had asked the amnesiac hero to call him, smiled sadly. The boy was different from when they had placed him in the Shrine of Resurrection. Maybe that was a good thing, and he had a feeling that this was as close to the real Link as he or anyone else would ever be able to or allowed to see. But it broke his heart that this sweet, innocent, upbeat boy would have to face Calamity Ganon again. He may be 20, but he was still in a way a child, one that had to grow up to fast. But he wouldn't let anything happen to the boy, he had promised the Goddess, Zelda, and his late wife that he would make sure that things were different this time. Things would be different this time, and he would make sure of it.
Notes:
After some serious angst I'd like to pose a question. Link is the Soldier, but is Zelda the Poet or King? And if Zelda is one, who is the other? I need answers guys.

Chapter Text
Link leaned over, hands on his knees as he gasped for breath in the pile of rubble. He hadn't run in a long time, and his stamina wasn't to good anymore. He was going to have to do something about that. Once he had caught his breath, he placed the Sheikah Slate in the terminal like he had been told to by Mister Ronan, and stared at it as it made strange beeping sounds. Then, the ground began to shake, and Link panicked.
When the earthquake was over, Link was lying on the floor of the strange room in the rubble, which was now not only not a room in a pile of rubble, but a FUCKING TOWER. He groaned and stood up, taking the Sheikah Slate from the terminal when the tower was done sending information to the Slate or something.
Link,
a girls voice said, and Link gasped. There it was, her voice again! He wondered if she could hear him. Princess, is that you?
he asked hopefully.
Time Skip 7 Minutes
Link blinked in confusion as he processed the amount of things Princess Zelda has told him. I'm sorry, but isn't this a lot to ask of a random guy who can't remember anything about his life before he was forced to nap in a metal bed-thing for 100 years?
he asked. Zelda didn't respond. Yeah, fuck you too Zelda,
he grumbled.
Hey, you alright kid?
Link heard a voice ask, and he turned to see Mister Ronan standing on top of the tower with him.
Oh, hey Mister Ronan! Yeah, I'm fine, just upset that I was given another quest.
He stared at the older man for a moment. Hey, how did you even get up here anyways?
he asked, and the older man shrugged.
That's not really important kiddo. Now, here's what you need to do. You see that Shrine over there?
Link nodded. You need to carefully climb down this tower, and go inside that Shrine. There are three other Shrines on the Great Plateau, but when you complete the Shrine, I want you to go straight into those woods over there and come find me asap. You'll end up dead if I don't help you get to the other three. Ok?
Link nodded again.Alright kiddo, good luck, and be careful.
Ronan said, before taking out a device that Link wasn't familiar with, and jumping off the tower, gliding down towards the forest below.

Chapter Text
Sky's POV
At first, Sky was falling. Then, he made contact with the ground, rolling down the sandy and into the road. He heard a yell, and the sound of a spooked horse. A woman was down at his side in a moment, helping him to his feet.
Hey, you alright kid? You came out of nowhere there.
the woman said, and Sky looked up at the lady who had helped him. She towered over him, and he wasn't that short. He nodded.
Yeah, I'm alright, thank you.
Sky looked around, and was disappointed to notice that nothing was familiar. Um, where am I? I don't think I've been here before.
You're in the Gerudo Desert, kid. Nearest civilization is the Kara Kara Bazaar, and then Gerudo Town, but they don't allow men in the city. You traveling with anyone else?
Yeah, my brothers, but it seems we've gotten separated. Their probably really worried, but I doubt that I'm in any condition to travel too far at the moment.
The woman nodded.
Your probably right. I'm Akara.
I'm Sky.
Well, Sky, we better move quickly, while it's still daytime. Most people can handle the heat, but even the Rito usually struggle out there during night time. Besides, a long with the monsters already out there, Stalkoblins and Stalizafos show up at night, and I don't want to take my chances.
Wind's POV
Wind remembered falling, and than hitting the water, knocking the breath out of him. Everything was hazey, and the current knocked his head into a rock. He couldn't tread the water, he wouldn't make it. He was going to drown.
But no, he couldn't die! He'd never see his little sister Aryll again. He wouldn't be able to prove that he's just as capable of a hero as the rest of his friends. Besides, he grew up a pirate! It would be crazy to let his cause of death be drowning. No, he had to get to shore.
Wind thought he heard yelling from somewhere above him, and he managed to just barely get another breath of air before he was pushed back under. No matter how hard he tried, the current kept slamming him up against rocks and pushing his head underwater. He couldn't breathe, and he was growing tired.
And then, just as he passed out from exhaustion, he felt a pair of arms wrap around his waist and pull him out of the water.
Time's POV
There was a golden light, and then Time was blinded as he hit a wooden platform, and the light disappeared. He could hear yells as everyone around him descended into a sort of chaos, yet he could barely hear anything at all over his ears ringing. His skin felt like it was burning, and his blood felt frozen in his veins. Oh, and blood pouring out of a gash on his face. It felt more than warm, it felt like it was boiling.
A man was talking to him, he thought. He could be wrong. Time felt incredibly disoriented at the moment. Spots danced in his vision, and he managed to one phrase the man was saying. 'Whats your name?' he had asked. And he just barely managed to whisper out, Time,
before everything went dark.
Notes:
And thus:
Wild:On the Great Plateau
Sky:At the Kara Kara Bazaar
Wind: Drowning in a river
Time:Passed out in the middle of a town in Hyrule
At least two of them aren't horribly injured or something. So that's good. Probably.

Chapter 5: Link(Wild) vs. Technology Part Two, and Link(Wild) Bonds with a Dead Guy
Summary:
OR
Link has a bad time and forgets to do basic things like keep himself alive
Chapter Text
Wild's POV
Carefully, Link had had to hop down from platform to platform in order to finally get down to the ground, and when his feet finally touched the pavement, he collapsed and gasped for breath, completely out of energy. Link had to wait a couple minutes before he was able to stand up and go over to the first Shrine.
When Link stumbled out of the Shrine with the Magnesis Rune, it was around dusk, and for about an hour Link stumbled around the forest, looking for the camp Ronan had said he had in there. Link didn't know when he began to refer to the old man as simply Ronan, and he didn't know how long he was actually in that Shrine, but he didn't exactly care anymore.
Link found the camp around midnight, and wasn't able to keep himself awake any longer, simply collapsing in the dirt. The next morning, Ronan taught him how to use a bowl and arrow, and how to hunt, and when Link shot his first deer, Ronan taught him how to make soup.
Link chose to go to the Shrine with the bomb runes next. It all took a while to figure out, but eventually, Link stumbled out, covered in soot and tired. Upon his return, Ronan instructed him to make a certain meal for him, and in return he would be given his Warm Doublet. From there Link would be able to get the Cryonis Rune, and then he could more easily make the trek over to the Shrine with the Stasis Rune. And then, he would be able to receive the Paraglider, and countinue his quest.
It was all a blur, completing the last two Shrines, spending time with Ronan, that one time he accidentally called Ronan 'Dad', and was almost immediately essentially adopted by the old man, the time he blew up a bunch of Bokobklins just to see how high the chunks of dead monsters would fly... And of course, who could forget those activated Guardians over by the Shrine he got the Bomb Runes that gave him nightmares and flashbacks of his past.
Of course, every time he remembered something, it faded faster than the last he thing he almost remembered. And it hurt. So. Fucking. Much. He had lost everything. It made him want to fucking scream. But it didn't matter anymore. He had other things to do. Like save the Princess. So he stood there, silent and stoic, while the only companion he's had since he's woken up informed him that he was a dead king, and that he would have to countinue this journey alone.
So, Link countinued on, heading to the nearest stable for supplies, before venturing on towards Kakariko Village, to meet an old friend of his:Lady Impa, the best warrior the Sheikah had.
Chapter 6: The Eclipse and the Aurora Borealis Lighting Up the Night Sky

Ravio had been laying on top of a hill that looked like it was in the middle of Hyrule Field or whatever it was called(he couldn't remember), albeit not his Hyrule. Then an unseen force from beneath him had pushed him over to the side, before a clump of darkness in the form of a teenage boy crawled out of his shadow, and layed down on the grass next to him. That had led into a shock driven argument, which ended up with the boy tackling Ravio, and then both rolling down the hill, right into the path of a giant machine.
Now, they were running and screaming, Ravio struggling to keep his hood over his face as he ran. This is all your fault!
the boy yelled at him as they both ducked behind a tree, just barely missing the laser beam it shot out of its face.
Me!? You're the one that got us into this mess asshole! Maybe next time, don't tackle people!
The ground between the two trees they were hiding behind exploded, and Ravio paled. Look, if we're gonna survive this, I think we're going to need a truce.
He said, and the other teen nodded in agreement.
"I think I can get us out of here, but it's risky." The boy said. "There's a chance I may be able to transport us to safety. But there is also a chance that one of both of us may most likely get horribly injured and/or die in the process."
"Those are horrible odds." Ravio said with a sigh. "But I've faced worse odds before because my best friend is fucking insane. What do I need to do?" he asked.
"Just try not to struggle to much." The boy said, and he grabbed Ravio, and pulled him into another tree's shadow just as the Guardians spotted them, arms wrapped around his waist.
The pair rolled into an open field, with Ravio ending up next to the other. He caught his breath quickly, and quickly was on top of the red-eyed teen, hitting him. "I can't believe you! We nearly died!" He yelled.
"Yeah, nearly! You're welcome!" The boy said, pushing Ravio of him. Ravio sputtered, and the boy tilted his head. "Are you ok?"
"'Am I ok? AM I OK!?' I nearly died dammit! That was horrible! That was terrifying! That was, was-"
"Awesome?" The other asked. When Ravio stopped and looked at him with a puzzled expression, he smiled. "The look on your face for a few moments, it was of awe and astonishment. You thought it was kind of cool, don't even try to lie to me."
Ravio turned red and pulled his hood further other his face, turning away. "S-shut up."
"Hey, if it makes you feel any better, I didn't see your eyes. Just your mouth. But it combined with your body language made it a little obvious."
"Just shut up and help me figure out where we are, ok?" He snapped, and the boy visibly flinched, but Ravio didn't notice. He wasn't looking.
"Oh, ok. Sorry..." The boy whispered, and sure, he didn't say it, but his hopes of finally having a friend were crushed.

Link ran his fingers over the soft fabric of the speacil stealth enhancing outfit, before changing his focus to to the red tunic, trousers, and cloak on the other side of the shop. "How much for the whole set?"
"270 rupees." She stated, having memorized all the prices. He opened his rupee pouch, selecting the proper amount and handing it over, while she stared in shock.
"What, is something wrong?" She quickly shook her head, removing the clothing from the mannequins and folding them, handing the stack over quickly.
"There's, uh, a screen over there, in case you want to change into them now." He just stared at her for a moment, wondering why she was stuttering, before ducking behind the screen.
"So, what you're telling me, is that you and Pumpkin Guy have a blood feud over a couple of vegetables?" He asked, looking Carrot Guy dead in the eye. Carrot Guy nodded meekly, and Link laughed. "Oh come on, of all the things you could have argued about, you chose produce?"
Carrot Guy sputtered, "Well maybe if he would just agree that I have the better product-"
"No."
Excuse me?"
"You're excused," he stated, shoving past the old guy. "I'm not wasting my time on something as ridiculous as a couple of root vegetables and squashes."
"Wow, you have some pretty raw talent Link!" The girl who ran the Archery Shop said, leaning up against him. He nodded and gently pushed her to the side. "Sooooo, I gotta ask: are you single?"
"Mhm." He nodded, pulling his arrows out of the target and placing them back in his quiver. She smiled, inching closer to him.
"So, how would you like to go out sometime?" She asked.
I wouldn't," he said bluntly. Her face fell, and he pushed past her, heading for the large building in the center of the village.
"That's far enough traveler." One of the guards said. "Lady Impa will not be seeing visitors today." He glared at him, blue eyes practically piercing through the man, and he flinched, moving himself as far away from him as he could have without fully moving from his spot. "Oh, Master Link!" Both men had grown almost as pale as their hair was white. "You're back! Please, go on in, Lady Impa has been expecting you!"
"Alright." He paused, looking between the two of them. "Are either of you going to get out of my way?" The two men stuttered, and he shoved past the pair, heading up the steps to the building.
Carefully, he pushed open the door, shutting it behind him, and the old woman before him on the other side of the room smiled. "Ah, Link, welcome. I have been expecting you."
"Yeah, the two idiots you have as guards said as much," he thought.
"Tell me, Link, do you remember me?"
"Not really, no. Now why don't you tell me exactly what you need me to do, I don't have all day."
"Hm, you are far more aggressive than you were 100 years ago." She observed, and he glared at her.
"Yeah, that happens when you go 100 years without and contact with other alive people. Now get to explaining."
He was out of Kakariko by nightfall, having gotten his quests, completed the shrine, and taken note of the Great Fairy in the woods. According to the Quest Log on his Sheikah Slate, he needed to head to Hateno Village and meet up with Purah next. She would aid him in regaining all of his old memories, fixing the Sheikah Slate's camera, she might even be able to upgrade the Slate itself. That is, if she was even still alive. Impa hadn't seen her in years. So, he set off on his journey, knowing full well that this wasn't going to be simple.
