Chapter Text
A/N: Lol welcome to my try at an idea I had. Its my first fanfic so have fun lol. I'll try to keep everyone in character as much as possible but we'll see how it goes.
[Reader] was tired.
So desperately tired.
They got up.
They Ate.
Went to work.
Then slept.
It was was rinse and repeat every day. The days just felt longer and longer.
They didn't want to feel like this.. Moving out was supposed to be a good thing.
A new start at what life could be in their hands.
Everything was supposed to be in their control now.
It wasn't.
The empty sound of their apartment after work. How when they dropped their keys, it echoed.
"I'm home."
Their voice was raspy and quiet. Flicking on the light to the musky smelling kitchen.
Whatever cheap paint the apartment complex was using, already chipped here and there on the cabinets.
'Hope it doesn't effect my deposit..' Their sigh felt heavy.
'Right.'
'Ramen time.'
The good ol' cup of noodles. Ninety-six cents of sodium goodness. Chicken was the only way to go. A click of a button on their water heater, money well-spent since gas was too pricey with their stove. Standing there felt like a chore. They shifted on their feet for a few minutes-
"I wonder if I'll have to take down more hilichurl towers again?"
Talking to themselves out loud.
Yes.
That was the best option.
"I'm only doing dailies."
'I wonder what would happen if I killed them infront of Ella Musk before the quest was over?' They snorted at the morbid thought but valued their ten primogems too much. Humor was healthy for the soul... no matter how it came out.
Finally, the water heater clicked again, signaling it was done. They grabbed a quick cup of delicious noodles, ripping open its clothed cap to expose its noods and pouring the water right in.
'That's right, heat up for me~'
Snorting again, humoring themselves since no one was around to read their thoughts. Lord have mercy on the poor souls to bear witness to their mental atrocities.
Chopsticks in tow with their heated noods, it was time to fire up their only one true love.
(Their PC.)
Sitting at their desk as they wait for the computer to load up. A salty slurp here and there. The exhaustion was finally worth it for a few hours of gacha waifus and mass hilichurl genocide.
"Man, fuck Abyss Mages."
Their Kaeya was currently trapped in a bubble from a hydro abyss mage. They were on their third cup of ramen, getting sucked into another quest after finishing their daily-do.
"Fucking bitch, taunting me, I'll shove a ley-line branch up your ass" their poor space bar was clearly being abused as they cursed at the screen.
"Your kind will be my 13th reason why-" they finally broke the mage's shield and proceeded to whack the mage around till it disappeared into pixels.
"Finally!" They let out an exasperated sigh slumping into their desk chair.
"I need a break." [Reader] had sat there for more than three hours, with their tail bone starting to hurt and their body aching for a need to stand up.
Stretching their toes and getting up to pull their arms till the itch in their muscles was satisfied.
They exited the game.
'Going outside never hurt, right?'
Grabbing a jacket and their keys after shutting everything off, they headed out.
The night air was just what they needed. It was crispy and cold.
Their nose chilled by the small breeze.
A small walk wouldn't hurt.
It wasn't the best area to walk, especially at night, but who cared anymore? Sure, there was worse things than death.
'Did it matter anymore?' Reaching into their jacket pocket-
"Fuck."
They groaned, 'I forgot my phone again.' Deciding between continuing around the block or retracing their steps.
Honestly, it was like everything that exhausted them was brought down on them.
Right here.
Right now.
'Great, I'm crying over a phone. Stupid.'
'Fucking stupid.'
Their vision got blurrier figuring it was too late for anyone to be out, they squatted on the ground letting out a shakey breath.
'Just breathe. Just breathe. The phone is at home.'
'We get up. We walk. Two legs. Its just a phone.' Their face wet and cold now as they were fed up. It wasn't just about the phone anymore. It was never about the phone. They were tired. So desperately tired.
"Just kill me already."
Bam!
There was the sound of a loud rabid honk as the impact was first, then the shock. A screech was heard, probably the breaks of a car, specifically a truck. Muffled words and blurred yelling.
'Oh, I was on a crosswalk. I didn't notice.'
They looked to the man who was frantically exiting the truck, squinting their eyes to get a better look at him.
'He looks upset. Poor guy, he looks so scared. What is he saying?'
Everything was ringing as they looked up at the night sky, 'You finally did me right. You did what I asked for.' Their lips quirking up as they thanked the universe.
'Never bring me back. Its so light and feathery now..'
All that weight they held before felt like it lifted off their shoulders as their soul was lifted out of their body.
'Not yet.'
'The fuck do you mean not yet?' And everything went black.
