Summary:

The first real day of spring, and Akali needs to warm herself back up

Notes:

Idk what this is, but lizards needs warm rock. That’s the one brain cell that made this.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

The girls are asleep, tangled together after a particularly cold night, but for the first time in a long time, the first eyes to open are a stark gold.

Akali’s tangled between the ever clingy and soft Ahri and a pregnant Kai’sa, and getting out of this warmth normally would be blasphemy, but her scales are itching, she can feel the end of winter.

Using a technique Shen would certainly call a disrespectful use of their powers, she immediately swaps herself with the giant plush dragon they made to help her fox wife sleep.

The sun is barely up, and she needs to feel its warmth.

Akali finds the minimum amount of clothes, nothing but shorts and a sports bra, and quickly exits the house towards their spacious backyard. She finds her large flat rock, and sits atop it, legs crossed, and begins to meditate.

Another deep breath as the sun finally peaks through the hole they cut in trees, bathing Akali in light. Slowly absorbing the sun's rays is more potent than any drug to her. The waves of light bathe her in a sense of true calm, her breathe steady and she can’t help the smile that blooms on her face.

About half an hour passes until the door opens, and Kai’sa’s calls out. “I’m not feeling too bad this morning, gonna make breakfast, I assume you want your food out there?”

Akali opens her eyes as she turns to answer. “Yes please!”

Kai’sa laughs to herself before shutting the door.

Akali goes back to controlling her breathing and just enjoying the Sun, the way it reflects off the few scales that sit on her joints, is a feeling that’s impossible to replicate.

As Akali takes a momentary pause, to stand and stretch herself, and the sound of the door opens once more. Kai’sa appears with a tray of full of various food items. “No one else is out of bed, so you get first dibs.”

“Lovely. What’s on the menu? Pancakes?” Akali says with a smile, taking the tray with one hand and she extends the other hand to her wife, inviting her up onto her rock.

“Crepes, you remember Ahri saying she was missing her and Eve’s trist to France, I figured I’d put a little bit of their trip in breakfast.” Kai’sa says with a smile.

Akali shakes her head. “All you’re going to do is inspire another trip to france.”

“And what’s so bad about that?” Kai’sa smirks.

Akali takes a plate, loading up a crepe. “You loved Paris, you wanna go when you can’t walk more than 10 minutes without your feet giving out?”

“Well I was hoping for after the babies came out.” Kai’sa looks to Akali stuffing her face.

Akali pauses her crepe to chuckle. “You wanna take new borns to Paris?”

“No, Ahri and I are gonna… yeah I didn’t think this through.”

“I fear being more than a room away from them will constitute a threat big enough for her to attack anyone else, so good lu-“

Kai’sa interrupts with a raspberry throw at Akali’s face. “Yeah, I realize my mistake, but taking them to Paris can’t be too bad…”

“I’ll leave the planning up to the others, but I will say I did love doing parkour the last time we went to Europe.” Akali adds as she carefully puts her head down to Kai’sa stomach.

Kai’sa can’t help but giggle at Akali’s behavior. “I’m afraid I’ll still be in recovery, and won’t be able to join you.”

“Yeah, maybe I can convince Seraphine.” A moment of silence fills the air between them. “On second thoughts-“

“She trips when we go on walks, please don’t.”

“Yeah, I guess your poor planning rubbed off.” Akali smirked again.

Kai’sa playfully shoves Akali away.

Akali responds by tickling her wife.

“Stop!”

Akali continues.

“I said stop.” Kai’sa insists this time.

Akali tempts fate to continue.

A symbiotic empowered chop knocks the wind from Akali. “Woman do you want me to pee on your rock?”

“No, you’re just so cute when you’re flailing uncontrollably.” Akali smiles her wide smile that Kai’sa can’t stay mad at.

Kai’sa stands up. “Help me down, I gotta go to the bathroom and finish breakfast.”

“I can help with breakfast if you-“

Kai’sa places a finger to her lips. “It’s the first day of spring for you right? Get your sun, my little dragon.” Before she moves her finger only to replace it with a soft kiss.

Akali takes the hint and helps her wife down, and as she walks away she can’t help but smile. “You really are too beautiful.”

Blush coats Kai’sa cheeks as she walks back into the house.

Akali returns to her meditation, and fans herself out atop the rock. She lulls herself into a trance as she just basks. Some amount of time passes when a particular sound catches her attention.

The sound is quiet, quick, aggressive, and hungry to anyone else. But to the astute rogue of the crew it is a simple pitter patter of feet.

As it got close enough, their legs extended and a small platinum fox landed on Akali’s lap. “Got you.”

“I heard you coming from the door.” Akali’s grins.

“You cheated, you used those ninja skills your uncle taught you.” Ahri got as close to pouting as she could in her small fox form.

“He called it many things, but no, I just used my ears for this one.” She stuck her tongue out.

Ahri reciprocated as best she could in this form, before curling up into a ball. “May I nap here.”

Akali just laid back on her rock, choosing to answer with silence. The two soaked up the sun as they drifted off to sleep.

A few hours later much louder steps woke Akali from her slumber. “Ahri, I need your help with something.”

Akali realized Ahri was still resting and points to her lap.

Seraphine walked over quietly as the woman could. “I need her help with this stadium promoter, they’re not releasing funding correctly, and-“

“I’m not her, but I bet she trusts you to handle this. You're far from the doe eyed girl we picked up those years ago.” Akali weighs in.

“I’ve always been bad at the administration stuff.” She shook her head. “Ashe said she’d do it, but her and tryndamere are visiting a boar? Or something and the others said it was my job.”

Akali extended a hand, careful not to shake the fox in her laps. “Well, just do what Ahri would do, I bet you can get them on the ropes no problem.”

Seraphine takes it and loves the warmth of her scales along her wrist. “You’re so warm.”

“If you do everything right we can cuddle after dark, I’ll keep most of my warmth.” Akali smiles.

A nervous look turns fierce as Seraphine slaps the sides of her head. “Alright! Let’s get this fucker!”

“There’s my girl.” Akali smiles, as Seraphine walks back into the house. “Did you actually promise to help?”

Ahri looks up at her. “Yes, but you have better motivation than I ever could.”

“You should go make sure she doesn’t mess it up.” Akali moves her hands as if she’ll pick Ahri up.

“No!” Ahri screams a little too loud. “Let me nap a little bit longer.”

Akali shakes her head. “Fine, but if she has any more trouble you have to help.”

Ahri nods. “Of Course, I’m not a monster, I just, I can’t handle the stress of handling their post tour breakdown and the babies, I’m a tired old lady.”

“Fine, then actually sleep this time.” Akali pets Ahri.

Ahri can’t help the affirmative yip that escapes her.

The pair drift off once more, sleeping until the sun begins to wane.

A yawn escapes the fox in Akali’s lap. “Kali it’s time to head in, it’s getting dark.”

“You go on ahead, I’m gonna enjoy the rock’s warmth a little longer.” Akali stretches her arms above her.

Ahri heads inside leaving Akali alone with the shadows around her.

“How long have you known I was here?” Evelynn’s voice falls from the trees.

“Long enough, are you still good for our arrangement?” Akali ties her hair up.

“Sparring with me isn’t going to be easy, Rogue.” Evelynn’s voice turns a little sinister.

“We need to be stronger right, this is how we get there.” Akali smirks.

The two ready themself to clash, training for a day they hope never comes.
