Chapter Text

Jaime stood outside Tye's door awkwardly, shifting his weight from one foot to the other. He was there to tell Tye about something he had gotten recently... A threat someone left him. He just didn't know how to bring it up, yet here he was... About to *try* to tell Tye about it without the other getting angry, though we both know that's impossible. He hesitantly raised his fist to the door, and right before he was about to knock, the door opened...

"I've seen your silhouette standing there for a good 3 minutes now. You alright?" Tye said with a confused expression.

"uh-hm.. Yeah... Uh-sorry, I'll just-" Jaime turned, ready to leave. This was stupid. He felt so pathetic. He'd normally be able to talk to Tye confidently no matter what the topic was about but now he was a bumbling mess.

Before he left, Jaime felt a strong grip on his arm pull him into the house. He lost his senses for a few seconds, like he was zoning out whilst trying to also figure out what just happened. Tye, in the meantime locked to door and hurried Jaime upstairs to his room.

Jaime returned to his senses upon hearing the bedroom door slam.

"Sorry, didn't mean to slam it. It's janky old door that won't close properly most of the time... I asked my mom to change it but she still hasn't and now since then it's also gone a bit squeaky when I close it slowly... I wonder if I can..."

Tye's voice faded as Jaime began to zone out again. As Tye was rambling about the door and trying to open and close it different ways, Jaime just stood there looking bored. He wasn't actually bored, he was just in a mild panic in his own mind.

SLAM!

Jaime was startled out of his thoughts once again.

"OH SHIT SORRY THAT WAS LOUD UH- LEMME JUST-" Tye started messing with the door again, stopping when he heard Jaime call out his name.

Jaime has known Tye long enough to learn how Tye reacted to different things, while both the boys reacted similarly to most, they certainly reacted differently when it came to panicking. Jaime wouldn't show it much on the outside, well until he would have to start talking, and on the inside was all the pent up emotions and feelings, all having a goddamn war on what Jaime should think, say and do. Tye, on the other hand, was the opposite. His mind would go blank whilst his body took over and start shaking, he'd start rambling with a shaky voice in an attempt at distracting himself and anyone else away from his anxieties.

Jaime knew that. So he simply did what he always did: Call out to Tye, and talk to him about what's causing the panic. It was a simple thing to do, a simple solution, yet it felt so difficult. Soon it became a habbit to call out to Tye whenever the taller would start rambling. And it became a hibbit of Tye's to bring Jaime to one of their bedrooms for privacy anytime Jaime seemed to panic...

Tye looked away from the door and turned to face Jaime. He didn't look at him, though...

The thing is, Jaime was panicking about the letter, Tye was panicking about something else... Maybe it was the tension, the exchanging looks, or the flirty quotes and jokes that's been happening between them these last few months... Tye simply thought Jaime was panicking about the same thing. Boy, he was dead wrong...

"Sorry..." was all Tye said, realising he was rambling. Jaime didn't know what to do. Does he hug him? Put a hand on his shoulder and give him a comforting smile? Stand there awkwardly and do nothing?

Well, apparently none of these choices appealed to Jaime. He hesitantly walked over to Tye's bed and sat down on it, patting the spot next to him. As Tye walked over he was a lot less hesitant than Jaime. He sat down next to him, fidgeting with his hands. Jaime had never seen him this anxious before.

They sat there for a few minutes, the only sound being the clock on the wall, ticking.

Jaime knew he couldn't break the silence, he would just keep stuttering and just give up on his own words. Tye, however...

"Wanna kiss?" Tye blurted out, possibly an attempt at making a joke to lighten the mood... But it didn't sound like a joke. Jaime looked at him dumbfounded. Jaime didn't think he was joking, and Tye didn't know whether he liked that or not...

"Sorry, I mean-" Tye was cut off by another pair of lips smacking against his. Before Tye could return the kiss, Jaime pulled back.

"I-" He started "Holy shit..." Tye said with a breath he didn't know he was holding. When he looked at Jaime he was greeted with a sweet smile and some laughter. He could also tell Jaime was starring to cry a bit.

"You're so adorable!" Jaime said, right before tackling Tye down and cuddling him. Tye was frozen. Was this really happening? Did Jaime actually like him back?

"I like you too!" Jaime blurted out between his tears and laughter.

Well, that question was answered. And now Tye had the confidence boost he needed, he put his index finger and thumb under Jaime's chin and brought him up to face him, he then kissed Jaime's soft lips. When Jaime kissed back, he wrapped his free arm around the latter's waist, pulling him closer.

Sadly, they both needed oxygen to, y'know, breathe, and pulled away. Everything seemed fine until, Tye noticed something was off...

"What's wrong?" He asked, searching Jaime's face, he could tell there was something off with his expression.

"I uhm..." Jaime started but cut himself off. How could he bring something like this up now... But it's not like it was gonna leave his thoughts anytime soon. He had to tell him.

"Hey, you can tell me, y'know..." Tye whispered soothingly. The only person who could soothe Jaime with just a whisper was Tye.

Jaime didn't know what to do...

A. Tell Tye, he has to know.

B. It was probably an empty threat, don't make it worse.

After what felt like forever of thinking, Jaime chose A. Tye deserves to know. It would only worry him more if he didn't tell him.

"I had a letter, that I came here to let you know I... Received." Jaime sat up and started fidgeting with his hands, mimicing Tye's earlier actions.

Tye looked at him confused and sat up. Jaime stood up, and started pacing as he was trying to explain, still fidgeting.

"It's-It's not that bad... It probably doesn't really mean anything... M-Maybe it's not important..." Jaime tried to start off, in an attempt to make Tye less angry about it. Tye just waited, worried yet patient.

Jaime stopped pacing, yet didn't stop fidgeting. Just like he did before, he started shifting his weight from one foot to another.

"It was a letter..." He looked at Tye, who nodded, silently telling him to continue. "...It was  a threat, from an anonymous person."

Tye stood up immediately.

"Let me see it. What did he say? Did he leave anything in it?" Jaime could see the anger build up in his crush's(?) eyes. He looked down.

"Uhmm... Well, Bart kinda got to it before I could bring it... He burned it... And spat on it..." He chuckled as he explained further. "There were slurs... Threats... and uh-hm... They wanted to beat me up f-for 'infecting you with m-my queerness' or something... I don't really remember much..." Jaime didn't look up at Tye, so it came as a surprise when he suddenly felt someone hug him.

"I expected you to stomp out angrily and try to find whoever did this, honestly..." Jaime said quietly with a chuckle.

"Comforting you should always be my first priority whenever something like this happens... I should've realised that sooner..." Tye whispered.

Tears streamed down Jaime's face. He didn't know how to respond to that.

Tye pulled Jaime towards the bed again, and sat Jaime on his lap. He turned and slowly leaned back to lie down, pulling Jaime down with him. Jaime rested his head on Tye's chest, silently crying into it as he hugged Tye back.

As Tye pulled the quilt cover over them, he stroked his hand through Jaime's hair.

"Shhhh, it's alright... It'll all be ok..." He whispered quietly, over and over again. And as Jaime fell asleep, the last thing he heard before losing consciousness was: "Goodnight, Jaime... I love you."

Notes:

Bonus: After Jaime fell asleep, Tye slipped out from under him and quietly left the room. He pulled out his phone and called Roy. After telling Roy about the letter, they agreed to track down the anonymous sender together in a few day's time. After the phone call, Tye quietly entered his bedroom again and went back to bed, cuddling Jaime.

Chapter 3: Wally x Dick: Accidental Confession

Summary:

Request by: Nanafai1

"Hey can i make request about Dick accidentally say I Love You to Wally in front of the team, please?"

Chapter Text

"Listen, man. I mean it this time!"

"Suuure.." Dick rolled his eyes at Wally.

"I. Mean. It. Artemis and I are 100% over." Wally said with certainty.

"But... You kinda said something similar before... Y'know, when you said you were taking a break from eachother. You told me you were over her, then next thing you know, you guys are back together again..." Dick quietly spoke.

"But this time, we're done. I know it." Replied Wally, with a softer tone than earlier.

Dick looked at Wally with an unexplainable look in his eyes. "How? How do you know it?"

"...Because she likes someone else." Wally avoided Dick's gaze as he said it. The latter's eyes widening. "She didn't say who but... She just knows she likes them enough to.. discontinue our relationship. Permanently. So she could have a chance to be with them..."

What Wally didn't want to say though, was that he also had someone he liked... Well, actually loved. He's loved someone long enough that the feeling wouldn't go away no matter what he did and no matter how hard he tried, even when he was with Artemis. Which was why he understood Artemis on why she wanted to end the relationship entirely. Maybe that's why they started dating in the first place, in an attempt to forget their love for someone else in their lives. Maybe that's why they understood eachother so much.

Dick walked up to Wally and hugged him. Right as Wally hugged back, a few members of the team walked in. M'gann and Conner were mid argument as the rest of the team cringed away as much as possible, not wanting to be caught in the middle of the lovers' spat.

Wally pulled away to look at the two fighting. Dick, already starting to miss the warmth from the hug, followed Wally's gaze.

"Seriously!?"

The couple snapped out of their argument to look at Wally.

"I JUST broke up with my girlfriend, so SHE could be with someone ELSE. And right as I get some comfort, you two have a love-birds quarrel RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME!? Do you have no shame?? I'M GRIEVING OVER HERE." Wally snapped. Dick stood there shocked... What was he supposed to do? Team up with Wally and start berating the couple? politely ask them to leave? Drag Wally to a private location to talk without anymore interruptions? Dick was stuck deciding as the stunned couple stared wide-eyed at Wally.

"B-but Wally... Artemis isn't dead?" M'gann said, still a bit stunned from the sudden outburst.

"Grieving can be caused in different ways, M'gann." Wally said her name with a bit of spite. "It's a shame you don't understand that. After you and Conner broke up, you had no problem dating someone else IMMEDIATELY after."

Conner frowned at the memory, he still felt betrayed despite forgiving her. He walked off quietly, passing by other team members and leaguers who made their way in.

"Wally, calm down!" Dick finally spoke up, only after M'gann started to cry... He didn't exactly want to make the situation between M'gann and Conner worse than it already was.

"Why should I!? It's not like it can get any worse between those two! Conner deserves better. Not someone who tries to alter his brain instead of saying sorry like a decent person!" Wally started to raise his voice. "YOU SHOULD TREAT HIM RIGHT, FOR FUCK'S SAKE, M'GANN."

The Martian only sat down on the floor and started bawling. Garfield crouched down next to her, patting her on the back in an attempt to reassure her.

"And YOU." Wally turned to look at Dick, the younger flinching a bit. "Don't tell me you're actually standing up for that bitch... If you're really my best friend, you'd atleast see what I mean."

Damn that... That actually hurt.

"I'm not standing up for her... I just don't want to make it worse for Conner, who --if you haven't noticed already-- walked out right after you brought up what she did. I think it's up to them to fix things through..." Dick said softly. All he wanted was for things to go back to the way they were before. Before the break ups... Before Wally and Artemis started dating... Before the team. Back to when it was just him, Wally and Aqualad, trying to join the Justice League along side their superiors.

"And what about me?" Wally pointed his thumb to his chest. Dick didn't understand.

"Hm?"

"I'm dealing with a breakup and those two... Baffoons, are having a lovers' spat infront of everyone! DOESN'T ANYONE ACTUALLY CARE ENOUGH ABOUT ME TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS ISN'T ONLY AFFECTING THEM!??" Wally, eyes now glazing over, puts a hand on his head. "It's just... DOES ANYONE CARE!?" He shouts, voice shaking.

"I CARE!" Dick says immediately.

"Why DO you care, Dick!?"

"BECAUSE I LOVE YOU!"

"..."

"..."

It happened so quickly, Wally didn't think he caught it at first. The entire room went silent.

Wally stares at him, jaw hitting the floor. He knows what he means. The way Dick is looking at him. The way his eyes stare back at his own. Pupils blown large, just like auntie Iris said would happen whenever someone looked at the one they loved. How did he miss that in Dick's eyes before? Was he that focused on Artemis and trying to get rid of his crush on his bestfriend that he never noticed how that same bestfriend looked at him? He can see his own reflection in his eyes. He knows he loves him.

"You mean that...?"

Dick is quiet for a few seconds, trying to remember the last few minutes. His eyes widen quickly, realising what he'd just said.

Everything is quiet.

Why is it so quiet?

Did everyone leave?

Everything was silent for another minute.

After a moment of thinking, whether or not he should lie, whether or not Wally would judge him, Dick nods at Wally with an embarrassed look. Deciding to tell him the truth as red covered his entire face and ears.

Wally takes a while to process what just happened, but right when he does he notices how flustered Dick looks, not only that but how much it seems like Dick is regretting his decision to tell him how he feels. He needs to do something.

As Dick was finally about to speak, about to excuse himself from the room, he was cut off by someone gently placing their lips on his. Wally, who had just left a relationship... Was kissing him.

Before Dick could kiss back, though, Wally pulled away and wrapped his arms around the younger's waist, hugging him. Dick wrapped his arms around the older's shoulders and burried his face into the crook of his neck, attempting to hide his tears.

Wally whispered into his ear "Wanna go on a date sometime...?"

Notes:

I hope that was good for my first request! Let me know if there's any changes u want me to make, or if you have any more requests! <3

Chapter 4: Ed x Bart: Chicken Whizzie Noodles

Summary:

WOW THEY MEET (also the cave never blew up in this fic because I loved that place and I miss it being their HQ in the series)

Notes:

(See the end of the chapter for notes.)

Chapter Text

"Bart, this is Eduardo Dorado Jr. Ed, this is Bart Allen. ...Alright, I'm outta here." Jaime said right before walking out of the kitchen.

Ever since the misfits joined the team with Arsenal just yesterday, they've been walking around a lot in the cave and meeting many different people. It felt strange to meet so many people in such a short amount of time, it felt so... Alien.

The awkard silence seemed... Loud, somehow.

"so uh..." Ed started, as he looked around awkwardly. His eyes set on the empty bowl on the worktop.

"Ohhhh, right! I'm making noodles! I learnt about these snacks called 'chicken whizzies' from Jaime, then I found out that noodles come in SO many different flavours! INCLUDING CHICKEN FLAVOUR! Soooo I thought maybe..." Bart spoke excitedly about his idea to the other.

"You didn't..." Ed stared at Bart, hoping he wouldn't hear what he was about to hear.

"CHICKEN WHIZZIE NOODLES!" Bart shouted as he held up a family-sized packet, like he was a host to a game show revealing the prize to an audience. Ed only put his head down into his hand as he pinched the bridge of his nose.

"...Why?" Ed asked with his usual annoyed tone.

"Why NOT?" Bart asked back, with the opposite tone.

"Because a 'Chicken Whizzie' is a snack?? Why mix SNACKS with NOODLES??" Ed gestured with his hands towards the bowl.

"Oh, my sweet summer child..." Bart put the chicken whizzie family-size packet on the worktop and put his hands on his hips like a dissapointed mother.

"Aren't we around the same age?"

"I'm 13." Although Bart smiled, he wasn't used to this, atleast not anymore. Speaking in short sentences instead of long exasperated ones everytime he opened his mouth... Was there something wrong with him? Did Ed make him feel uncomfortable?

"Dude, I'm 14..." Ed raised an eyebrow at Bart. He was surprised that he, a 14 year old, was allowed to join the team, but Bart being 13 just confused him more. "What is the minimum age allowed for recruitment?"

"This ain't the army, man... We fight big bads but, it's mostly because we didn't choose to... At least most of us didn't." Bart's tone suddenly changed to a more negative one... A much sadder tone.

The older immediately felt bad, so he tried to change the subject as quick as possible.

"So... How are you making chicken whizzie flavoured noodles? Do you, like, blend them and use it as a sauce?" He said as he walked towards the blender right next to the empty pot, a bag of noodles, a measuring jug and the family-sized snack bag of chicken whizzies that Bart held up earlier.

The younger, who had forgotten about the food, immediately turned towards the older with a smile on his face.

"ohhhh, so you are interested... Interesting..." Bart said, with a smug smile, in an attempt to tease Ed the same way Jaime teased him. However to his dismay, Ed only rolled his eyes.

"Need help...?" Ed immediately regretted asking, after seeing Bart's eyes light up like fire.

"HELL YES! I'M REALLY HUNGRY SO THE MORE HELP I GET THE QUICKER --OR WE-- GET TO EAT IT!" Bart excidelly spoke shouted.

"You're very... Loud." Everytime the shorter would start shouting, the taller would flinch, not very used to a loud house. He's used to quiet. The lonely kind of quiet.

"Oh, sorry, man. I'm just soo freaking excited!" Bart said, excitedly, as you've probably guessed.

The next few moments were only about putting enough hot water in the measuring jug from the kettle. Ed did most of the work on that while Bart stood 10 feet away whilst giving him directions.

Next was putting the water into the pot. Bart decided to be brave against the hot water and stood much closer "to make sure Ed didn't burn himself"... Which would've been a good excuse if Bart didn't hide behind the other and held him in place infront of him by the shoulders.

"How in the world would you have even made this if I hadn't asked to help?"

"Uhh... I normally ask Jaime, but since Tye is apart of the team now I didn't want to ask him to do something that I should be able to do myself..." Bart's hold on Ed's shoulders only tightened. "And then when Jaime introduced me to you, I was kinda planning to ask you to help anyways, since it would be a good way to get to know you and all..." Wow, there really must be something up with Bart. Normally, he would ramble like this, but not something about something like this... He'd normally ramble about stupid things, confusing things, funnies, chicken whizzies... But not this... Something he didn't like doing was opening up about his flaws. Took him over a week, maybe a month, to open up like that to Jaime... Maybe Ed just... Has something to him?

To Bart's surprise, Ed didn't roll his eyes, frown at Bart for not being as happy as he normally is, or belittle him on it. He turned around to face bart, leaned on the worktop behind him and smiled. A warm, welcoming, sweet smile that he never normally let be on his face.

"It's nice to know that you're comfortable enough with your friends that you ask them to do things that may seem small to them, and they still do those things because they know that those things mean a lot to you... Don't view that as a flaw, man." The older gave him a light punch on the shoulder.

Bart couldn't help himself, he jumped at Ed to hug him tightly. Even if they were talking about something small, it still made his feelings feel just that more validated. It's the little things that always matter the most.

"uhh... I think the water's going... cold." Ed said hesitantly. Bart immediately jumped away and ran towards the stove... which was only a step away.

"SHITSHITSHITSHITSHIT!" He opened the noodle packet, took the noodles out and snapped each piece in half before throwing them in.

"Oh hey, you went against the hot wate-"

Bart rushed too much. He also grabbed the chicken whizzie packet and ripped it open. Dumping all the chicken whizzies in with the noodles.

"Dude..."

Bart turned on the stove and waited patiently infront of it. Only then did the realisation sink in.

"SSSSSSSSSHHHHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIITTT!"

Notes:

Bonus:

In the end, Ed decided to make normal chicken flavoured noodles the way it was SUPPOSED to be made. Both the boys ended up eating it together in the kitchen. Bart boasted about how it was the best noodles he's ever had, going on and on about how Ed should be a chef (even if it was just a cooked packet). What Bart didn't notice was how much Ed hid his face away from Bart during his boasting in an attempt to hide his blush.

Chapter 5: Tim x Bart: Whizzie stealer (Contains Birdflash)

Summary:

Bart desperately wants Tim to find out who stole his chicken whizzies after he rightfully stole them himself from Nightwing...

Chapter Text

"C'mon, man! Pleeeaaaaseeee?" Bart begged, dropping on his knees with his arms wrapped around Tim. "I'll help! Just pleeeaaseeee help meeee! I bet it was Nightwing who stole 'em!"

"Then steal them back... Again." Tim tried to push Bart off of him to no avail. "And I-I'm busy right now soo... Just figure it out yourself."

"But I can't steal them back! Nightwing's senses has heightened since I started stealing them from him after Jaime bought a padlock for his locker. it's like he has super senses just for when it comes to me taking his snacks!" Bart was begining to cry, not from anything, just to guilt trip Tim a bit.

"I don't think his senses heightened from stolen snacks, Bart." The detective face palmed. "But fine. I'll help you if you leave me alone afterwards. After all, I'm still busy."

"OHHHH THANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOUTHANKYOU!" Bart repeated, getting up and hugging Tim tightly. Tim felt his face grow a bit hot as he struggled to get free.

"Okay okay!" Tim finally pushed him off. "Now, where's Dick- I mean- Nightwing?"

"His name is Dick? Seriously??"

"Don't you dare tell anyone I told you that!" Tim sent a batglare towards the shorter, staring straight into his soul.

Bart tried not to seem intimidated. He was though... Terrified, even. "No worries, baby. My lips are seeaaled!" The speedster made a zipping hand motion at his mouth as he winked at the detective who went from confused to flustered within a matter of milliseconds.

"L-let's just get on with it..."

Both the boys looked around them, then all around the cave. Nightwing wasn't here, but his locker was.

"Locker?"

"Locker."

They checked his locker, in the boys' changing rooms to find it completely empty, well, excluding the plain box with a number-code lock and the orange hoodie that did not look to be Night's size... Suspicious.

"Who's hoodie is this...?" Tim thought out loud as he took the hoodie that was draped over the top of the propped up box. He smelt the hoodie in hopes of recognising the scent. He did not. It was saturated in the smell of chocolate, icecream, and protein bars.

"uhh, dude? We're here about the chicken whizzies! Not about Dick's or whoever-that-is' hoodie." Bart exclaimed, gesturing dramatically at the locker and hoodie.

"Considering 'his' hoodie is here, and nothing else but a locked box..." He trailed off in thought.

"Soooooooo...?" Bart looked confused.

"I wasn't told about him being on a mission, nor anything about missions at all, really..." The detective rubbed his index finger and thumb on his chin in thought. "Did you see Nightwing head out at all?"

Bart shook his head. "I just want my chicken whiizzieees!"

"And we might find them if we find out either where Nightwing lives or who owns this hoodie..."

They thought for a moment.

"Name tag?" Bart asked. "I saw Artemis' hoodie that Zatanna gave her and it had both their names on it!"

Tim looked at the label.

"Who the fuck is Walmaster?" Tim just looked confused. "Bit of an... Odd name."

"I think he's Dick's friend!" Bart exclaimed.

"Oh really, sherlock?" The detective raised an eyebrow at Bart.

"...Was that an insult? Who's sherlock?" It was now the shorter's time to look confused.

"...Nevermind." Tim threw the hoodie over his shoulder and began walking away.

"Hey! Where are you going!??" Bart chased walked after him. "What about my chicken whizzies??"

"I'll buy you a new packet if you help me find Nightwing's and 'Walmaster''s addresses. This is honestly very interesting to me..."

"Deal. But you also need to stop poking your noses into other people's buisnesses, batsyboy." Bart pointed an accusatory finger at Tim.

"I'm not going to stop. It's a hobby now." He grinned. "Aaaaaand if you keep helping me with my hobby then maaayyybe I'll keep buying you more chicken whizzies."

"Make it family sized and you got a deal."

"Family sized it is."

"DEAL."

=============

Less than an hour later, they found themselves outside Nightwing's door, doubting if they have the right house. Neither of them had never visited him in bludhaven before...

"I normally only do 'house finding' detective work when I'm with Batman... This feels... Wrong? Like I'm rebelling? or did I not find the right house?" Tim looked at Bart. "This can't be the place, right? I always mess something up when Bats and I work on it, and the one time I do it alone I-"

Bart interrupted him with a hand on his shoulder. "You're not alone, you have me!" The younger felt his cheeks redden.

"Whoopdy doo." The detective rolled his eyes, though still relieved that Bart is here with him... It helped to have him around a lot more than he expected it to.

Knock

Knock

Knock.

No answer for a few seconds, until they heard a couple voices inside. Inaudible.

"You sure you didn't invite anyone Babe-" Wally west froze as he opened the door, seeing two younger superheroes in front of him. "Uhh... Hi?"

Bart couldn't believe it... He was seething... Right there in Wally's hand... Was a family sized pack of chicken whizzies.

Tim seemed to have noticed too, though it didn't seem like he was willing to help Bart get it back... Since it was just a packet of damn chicken whizzies.

"Who's at the door?" Dick called from inside.

"Uh, the lil superheroes...? Did you do anything to make the Bats angry?" Wally turned around.

"Only stole back a packet of chicken whizzies, I think." Dick looked at the bag Wally was holding. The older speedster followed his gaze.

"oh." 'Walmaster' only said. He held out the packet towards the superhero teens who awkwardly stood at the doorstep. "This yours?"

Bart immediately took it back with his super speed, looked down into the packet excitedly and...

He couldn't believe it.

The packet was empty.

Chapter 6: Misfits Meetup

Summary:

Heyheyhey! I'm back :>

In this chapter EdxBart can be viewed platonically or romantically

Ed brings Bart to meet the Runaways (And Jaime's there too cuz Tye. Just Tye.)

Notes:

l'll try to add some TyexJaime stuff since those two need more recognition in the fandom, but I'll also try to keep it low since they're not the main focus and they're not requested.

Chapter Text

"C'mon, pleeeaaaseee!?" The shorter begged, holding one of Ed's hands in both of his own.

"I dunno..." The taller groaned, looking away. "It doesn't really sound like a great idea..."

"Okay, listen, listen." The speedster said as he tilted the other's face to look at him again. "I promise. I promise. I won't annoy them... Or try my best not to atleast."

The misfit rolled his eyes as he questioned in his mind if this was even a good idea.

"hmm..."

"..."

"As long as you don't beg them to buy you snacks."

The speedster's face lit up.

=================

The speedster frowned, crossing his arms and leaning back. He was now currently sitting on a bench in a trainstation beside Ed as they waited for their friends to arrive.

awkward

awkward

silence

"You got games on your phone?" The shorter spoke up suddenly, leaning over to look over the other's shoulder as the taller played some sort of city building game on a small device.

"Do you even know what a phone looks like?" He said sarcastically to the younger as he rolled his eyes playfully. "This is just a small ipad, for whenever I get bored when I travel..."

"An ipad, huh... Yeah, I've heard of those... Can't get them much in the future." He said casually, his eyes never leaving the screen out of interest. "What game is that?"

The older chuckled before replying. "It's 'Merge and build your own city'... Wanna have a go?" He said as he left the game and started a new one on a seperate file.

"Seriously?? Hell yeah!" Bart said excitedly, not-so-gently taking the ipad out of the other's hands. "This is so crash!" He wasn't even done with the tutorial yet, and somehow he had already fallen in love with the game.

They sat there for about 10 minutes in silence, Bart kicking his feet mindlessly as he played the mobile game, and Ed simply watched the other with a smile on his face.

Neither of them noticed four teenagers getting out of a train nearby them. All four of the teens stood right in front of the two as they waited for the duo to notice their presence.

"Are they ever gonna look up?"

"Wonder what game's got Bart's attention this time..."

"Do we just... Tap one of 'em on the shoulder or sumthin'?"

They spoke in hushed voices, awkwardly trying to decide what to do before one of them eventually coughed rather loudly.

"Bless you." Ed spoke, glancing at them, looking back at Bart, then quickly looking back at the group again. "Oh, hey guys."

The speedster finally looked up from the device. "Jaimeeee!" He said excitedly, dropping the ipad onto the Argentinian's lap before hugging his teammate. "I haven't seen you in forever, dude! We gotta catch up!"

"Three days is not forever, Bart." Jaime chuckled.

"Face time doesn't count!" The younger replied with a childish whine as he pulled away. "Anyways, you must be Tye." He said as he pointed to the raven with the orange headband. "Jaime talks about you a lot on FT."

"Does he now?" The raven raised an eyebrow and smirked slightly at the boy in question, who only gave a small chuckle as he awkwardly scratched the back of his neck.

The speedster looked back and forth between the two for a second before someone else got his attention.

"Bart, this is Virgil and Asami." Ed spoke up, suddenly standing next to the shorter, as he gestured at the two he introduced. "Virgil and Asami, meet Bart, an annoyance."

"Can agree with that!" Jaime spoke up in the background.

Virgil smiled as he shook the speedster's hand. "Nice t'meetcha, Bart. We've heard some fun stories about you."

Bart looked at Jaime accusingly, the beetle only shrugged. "Wasn't me, dude." Then, the speedster looked at Ed, who also gave a small shrug, along with a small smile. "What? You're interesting to talk about."

Bart couldn't tell whether he felt flattered or embarrassed. Maybe both.

"WOOOOOOO STRIKE!" Virgil celebrated as more points were added to his and Asami's team.

"Did we have to go bowling? Y'know he rocks at this stuff... The rest of us don't stand a chance." Tye spoke up, leaning against Jaime in the booth the group currently sat at.

Virgil swapped places with Asami, taking her seat as the girl walked up to the aisle.

"GO GET 'EM ASAMI!" Virgil cheered again, clearly hyped up.

"Bart's never been bowling before, though you can probably tell by the look on his face... He looks wayyy too excited over this. Even more than Virgil, somehow." Jaime spoke up, sounding sort of groggy.

"Are you two high are something?" Ed asked looking between them both.

"Nope." "Nah, wish I were, though."

"Woooooo!" Asami cheered, though quieter than Virgil did, after she scored a spare.

Ed nodded to Bart, silently telling him that he's up next.

The speedster swapped places with Asami, excitedly jogging to the row of bowling balls. He picked up the nearest one, which was surprisingly heavier than expected, aimed, swung his arm back, and...

"STRIKE!"

"HOLY SHIT, WASN'T THAT YOUR FIRST EVER BOWL?? NICE GOING, KID!" Virgil applauded him, which the rest of the group joined in. It was pretty impressive...

Ed smiled, giving the shorter a high five as he swapped places with him, acting confident for his turn. He was, in fact, not confident at all. He always sucked at bowling.

The brunette picked up the lightest bowling ball in the row, leaned forward, aimed, swung his arm back and...

1 pin.

Ed took a deep breath, hearing Virgil immediately burst into hysterical laughter behind him.

"At least it's better than last time!" Virgil said in between breaths of laughter as he pointed at the boy who was still standing in front of the aisle.

Ed turned around to look at Virgil, his face flushed red from embarrassment with an expression of annoyance.

The misfit walked towards the booth and sat down, trying to hold in his anger. He didn't exactly want to cause a scene and get them all kicked out... Like last time.

Bart held onto the flustered boy's hand, trying to help him calm down.

"You're turn." Tye nudged his childhood friend. "Uh, dude...?" He looked over at him and... Jaime was asleep.

"Aw, how cute." Virgil said with a deadpanned expression. "Ahem..."

"WAKE THE FUCK UP!"

Jaime shot up.

"Dude, not cool..." Jaime groaned with annoyance. "I'm tired as hell... I had to do two all-nighters in a row... Just lemme sleep."

"I'll take his turn." Tye spoke up, but as he was about to stand, he was pulled back down into his seat. "Jaime. Let me go."

"Sorry, but no. You're comfy." The brunette said as he huged the raven's arm, using it as a pillow.

Tye sighed. "Can you take our team off the list, Virgil?"

"Yeah sure, man." Virgil smirked. "More chances of winning for me!"

Tye rolled his eyes.

"Hey, Bart." Virgil spoke up from the control panel, deleting the Tye and Jaime team from the list. "How about you and I team up next time!? Would love to see you crush the others, we'd be unstoppable!"

Bart's eyes lit up, either due to admiration, disbelief, or tears... Possibly all three.

"You actually... want to team up with me...?" He asked in shock, as his eyes went wide. "But what abiut Asami...?"

"Asami wants to team up with someone other than me. Apparently I'm a 'sore loser' and she finds me annoying as a teammate." He chuckled. "Plus, she prefers to beat me instead of win with me, ain't that right, Asami?"

She stuck her tongue out at him before replying. "Shush." And taking a sip of her slushie drink.

Virgil rolled his eyes.

During all of this, Bart was trying his best not to cry. Luckily for him, it didn't really seem like anyone noticed... Anyone but Ed, that is.

"Hey, you alright, man?" The Argentinian boy asked, squeezing the speedster's hand. Everything around them suddenly went quiet, it was like they were the only two in the room.

"Yeah... I-I'm fine..." The younger answered as he wiped tears from his eyes in an attempt to hide them. "Ignore me..."

"I'm not gonna do that..." Ed said as he brought Bart's hands away from his face, and took out a napkin, wiping the tears away himself. "If you need to take a breather, we don't mind."

Bart nodded, taking a deep breath. "I'm just... Not used to... People f-finding me... 'tolerable' I guess you could say... Th-they always find me annoying..."

Ed frowned, but nodded to show that he was listening. After he was done wiping away the other's tears, he gently pulled the speedster into his chest, hugging him. "You don't have to worry about judgement here... I mean, just look around, we're all annoyances here. Virgil can be loud and competitive, Tye can be mean and closed off, Jaime's pretty much the same as Tye, Asami has a shitty attitude to those who bitch about how quiet she is... And you've met me." He chuckled at the last part, knowing fully well that Bart knew about his anger problems.

The speedster smiled "So, I fit right in, huh?" He asked with a shaky breath.

"You fit in perfectly."

Then suddenly, the small tv that displayed the points lit up, flashing into different vibrant colours, to announce the team winners.

The winners of tonight's bowling: Team Virgil and Asami (surprise surprise)

"We'll get 'em next time." Ed chuckled. "It'll be fun to play against you, y'know."

"Did you forget I got a strike for my first bowl? Meanwhile here you were getting a single pin..." Bart joked, giving a small laugh.

Ed's face immediately filled with regret. "Shit... I'll be up against two Virgils..."

It was getting late. The sky was a dull blue, with dark gray clouds beginning to cover it. The group was heading towards the skate park in hopes of having a bit more fun before it started to rain.

"I'm telling you, that's what happened!" Virgil exclaimed, flailing his arms around as he told a 'true' story.

"That's not how I remember it, dude." Tye spoke up from the back of the group, carrying a sleeping Jaime on his back as they walked. "Didn't she burst through the door?"

"It was definitely the ceiling, bro. The whole room practically caved in from her entrance!"

"Now you're just spreading misinformation."

"I swear that's what happened!"

"What are you guys talking about...?" Ed asked from the front, being the one to lead the group as they followed him to the skate park.

"About that one netflix series... Which I can't name for copyright reasons." Virgil winked at the camera.

"This isn't a canonical episode of the YJ series, dude. This is a fanfic." Tye called out.

Silence...

"You did not have to break the fourth wall like that."
