Chapter Text
It was a friday afternoon and Toji was cooking dinner for himself and Megumi, nothing fancy just pasta with tomato sauce. When he was almost finished with it, the pasta just needed a mix and a fry, when he heard keys clattering, the front door opening slowly and somebody stepping in.
He knew it was Megumi as he just got home from school, so he didn’t bother checking. Toji took a sip of his beer when heard his son greet him.
“Dad Im home!” Megumi said with a rather exhausted tone in his voice as he stepped out of his shoes and put down his backpack. He had a lot of classes today and he had to meet up with the reading club too, which he was a part of.
“I made dinner, come eat with me after you change, I have to talk to you about something”. Toji claimed while taking another sip of his drink. He got an ok as an answer and heard quick scales.
Megumi opened the door to his room where he found Tosu, his dog sleeping in the middle of his room on his fuzzy carpet. ‘The old guy probably locked him in here by accident’ he thought as he crouched down with a gentle smile to give some quick pats to her. Tosu reacted by a lick across his face then she ran out of the room. Megumi got up with a sight and started changing into more comfortable clothes and putting his uniform in the laundry. Once he was ready he left his room to go to the kitchen to help his father with getting the dinner ready.
“Megumi set the table while I finish cooking, would you?” his dad asked while giving a small glance at him. So he did, he set the table up for two people, putting out forks and plates, sat down at it and checked his phone. He got some notification from the calendar that he has upcoming tests that he needs to study for.
As he was about to open instagram to check out any new post, he heard Toji come into the room with the food. With a sight he turn off his phone and looked up at the food that was now in front of him feeling a light steam hit his face. His dad is not a michelin star chef but he can make pretty good dishes if he tries. They started eating and after some seconds of silence as Megumi was about to ask what his dad wanted to talk to him about Toji cleared his throat and started speaking.
“So, the thing I wanted to talk to you about was that, a client hired me for a job but its in the next city over, its a very high paying job and i think its worth moving for” Toji claimed glancing up at his son to see his reaction while trying to twisting his pasta onto his fork but in vain since the spaghetti kept slipping off of it.
“So you want to move?” Megumi asked back as he looked up at his dad with a not so excited, rather troubled expression on his face.
“Yes, we would be closer to Gojo and you guys could hang out more times, I bet he would be very happy that his godson is spending time with him.” Toji tried to reason.
“And what about Maki and my friends in school?” Megumi asked kind of offended.
“Oh, I’m sure you will make new friends and Gojo can help you out too since he is one of the teachers there. It’s only a 30 minute ride from here, you guys can meet up whenever.” his dad claimed. “Look, just give it a chance, maybe you will enjoy some change in your life?”
Megumi didn’t seem too happy about the news but for his dad’s sake finally gave into it. His dad started explained that he found an excellent flat that they can live in and its close to the school too. He showed some pictures to Megumi. The house was pretty modern utmost 10 year old. The flat that Toji picked had two bedrooms and two bathrooms a kitchen and a normal sized living room. It was expensive, almost over there budget since they were moving into a big city but Toji could manage with this new job he was hired for.
After some time they finished dinner and Megumi went to wash the dishes while Toji was relaxing on the couch with a beer in his hand, watching TV. It was nothing interesting just a normal film but he had nothing else to do so it did the job.
As he was about to doze of he heard his phone ring. He was about to ignore it and go back to sleep but then he saw that it was his client who was calling. He quickly turned of the TV, cleared his throat and answer the phone.
“Hello?” He called out.
“Hello Mr. Fushiguro, I was hoping that we could schedule an appointment where i can give you a precise description of the job.” A woman’s voice called out.
“Is it not okay to discuss on the phone?” Toji asked while trying to wake himself up.
“Mr. Fushiguro, discussing such important matters over the phone is not so gentleman like.” Said the woman with confidence and a small laugh at the end.
As Toji heard the chuckle a quick grin spread across his face as he answered. “Right, of course, how about we meet in one of the coffee shops in town, I would be more than happy to buy you a drink or two” he said with a flirty tone.
“How sweet of you” the woman played back. “You know that you are pretty famous in this line of work, right?”
“Am I?” Toji said with a husky voice.
“Of course, you have quite the reputation. I will text you the address of the coffee shop when I pick it out, so tomorrow then Mr. Fushiguro”
With that the woman hang up the phone. “Who said anything about me being free tomorrow?” Toji whispered to himself while looking at his phone in disbelief. Well actually he was free the whole week so it didn’t bother him that the meet was going to be tomorrow.
When Megumi finished washing the dishes, which was probably one of the things he hate doing the most, he heard his dad flirting on the phone. ‘Old man always has to flirt with every woman he see’ he made a disgusted face and decided that it was time to leave for his room, picking up his backpack on the way there.
He sat down and started getting ready to study for the exams that were coming up in the next few days. He had quite a lot this week including all the hard subjects such as math and chemistry but he wasn’t stressing or anything. He was one of the top students in his class probably in the school too. He always had his classmates asking him to help and teachers congratulating him on his studies. He put on some music and started doing his homework.
After some time he heard his phone buzz and a message appear. It was his cousin also his best friend Maki. He went to the same school as her and of course they knew each other since birth. They would always play together on family gatherings and Megumi would always stick up to her, when Mei was bullying Maki.
She was asking about some cinema tickets she got for tomorrow and if Megumi would be interested in coming with her to see the movie. She claimed that it just came out and had a lot of good reviews.
Megumi
Hey,Maki!
Yeah, sure lets go see the movie. I also have something to tell you about.
Maki
Yey i knew u would love to come with me!
About that thing u want to tell me u can just tell me now
Megumi
No, you can wait.
Maki
Megumi u know i hate waiting
Now thanks to u i will be up all night thinking about it
Megumi
Then I guess I won’t say goodnight
Maki
Shut up
Megumi turned off his phone with a gentle smile on his face and tried focusing on studying again. It could have been like 10 minutes when his phone rang. It was Gojo ‘what a surprise’ he thought as he picked up the phone with a sight, fully expecting what was coming.
“Megumii~~, I heard that you and your father is moving here!! Aah~Im so excited, we can hang out every day and what’s more we will be in the same school!~” Gojo shouted into Megumis ear making him move the phone slightly away from it.
“Yeah, it will be great” Megumi said with a calm voice. He was a little excited about it too after all Gojo is a fun person he’s just a bit annoying sometimes, But of course he’s not going to show it. Gojo has a long term boyfriend too, Geto. They been together for almost 7 years now. Megumi enjoys when he’s around, he’s calm and keeps Gojo in place, and after having to deal with Gojos nonsense having Geto by his side is like fresh air for Megumi. He just doesn’t get how he can put up with Gojos shit all the time. That man has some kind of superpower or something.
“Oh, are you not excited to hang out with your perfect godfather?” Gojo said pouting. “How about we go to a book store and get away from that grumpy old guy that lives with you, how does that sound?” He asked with a small laugh at the end. Megumi raised an eyebrow at the comment before he realized that he was talking about his dad, and let out a small sigh.
“Sure, but don’t go changing the plan like last time” Megumi warned, voice as serious as ever. He still has that awful memory from 3 years ago when Gojo promised him he will take him to a pet cafe but instead they ended up at a amusement park. Gojo had the time of his life, Megumi? not that much.
“Megumi, you are so like your father, do you even have your moms blood in you? I don’t even remember changing them last time” he claim, clearly lying.
“Yeah, sure you don’t. Well don’t forget this time then, ok?” with that Megumi hung up to get away from Gojos unending speech about literally anything and continue doing his homework.
———
Next day just as Megumi was getting ready for the day, choosing out his clothes, brushing his teeth and making breakfast for himself and his dad who was still in bed, lounging, unbothered about getting ready for the appointment that was set the day before, not even checking which place his client choose.
It was a windy, but still sunny saturday morning in the spring. Flowers just started to bloom, but not many birds were heard yet.
This was probably Megumis favorite season of all, but he didn’t bother thinking about things like this much. Still his mood today was somewhat happier then in most days.
Perhaps it was cause by the plans him and Maki arranged.
“Breakfast is ready” came a loud voice from the kitchen as Toji heard plates clatter. He finally got out of bed putting a shirt on and stumbled out of his bedroom and into the kitchen. He wasn’t a morning person as the ruffled hair and crusty eyes indicated.
He sat down at the table with a yawn then looked down at the food Megumi prepared for him. It was a simple omelette that was filled with vegetables, ham and some ketchup on top.
“Looks good” Toji tried complimenting. “Do you have any plans for today?” he asked looking up at his son who was sitting in front of him.
“I’m going out today to see a movie with Maki” Megumi started. “So i will probably not be back till late” he said while putting some salt on his food. ‘Did I forgot to put salt in this?’ hes thought were interrupted when Toji begun speaking again. “Go have fun. I will be home by then, call me if you need anything.”
The rest of the breakfast went by fast, and the next thing Toji knew was that he needed to get ready fast because the agreed time he and his client discussed was approaching fast. He took a quick shower, brushed his teeth and picked out and acceptable outfit for the meeting. He put on some shoes and was ready to leave the house. “See you kid” and with that he left the house.
The drive to the cafe wasn’t that long, 40 minutes to be precise. He arrived early so he wasn’t surprised when he didn’t see the woman yet. He ordered an espresso and sat down to a table where he was facing the door so that he could keep check of the people entering.
After some time somebody stopped at his table and put there arms on it. Toji looked up from his phone and saw his client standing in front of him with a slight grind on her face. She was probably the same age as him maybe one or two years younger. She had long brown hair and was dressed very elegantly with beautiful jewels on her.
“Well if it isn’t you Mr.Fushiguro” the woman said with a calm voice while looking down at Toji. He quickly got up and put his hand out offering a hand shake.
“It’s nice to finally meet you miss…?” He greeted the lady. The woman looked at the hand, took it while answering. “Smith, Smith is fine”
“Miss Smith, please take a seat” Toji said while pointing at the chair in front of him with his hand. The woman sat down, crossed her legs and looked up at him like she’s waiting for him to say something.
After some seconds of silence he decided to break it. “So what business brings you here milady?” He asked while taking a sip of his coffee. He didn’t really like coffee, he much more preferred something more bitter and heavy like beer.
Miss Smith cleared her throat while elegantly putting her hand in front of his mouth and started speaking. “My father is the owner of one of the biggest companies in the country but he is getting quite old now. He decided not too long ago that he will pass the company down to his oldest child who is happens to be my older sister and Im only second in line. I want you to find out anything about her that will change my father’s decision about the companies inheritance and have proof of that action of hers.” with that she took a sip of her latte that was just brought out to the table a few seconds ago. Miss Smith went into other smaller details too trying to make Tojis work easier and faster.
Toji was nodding the whole time she was speaking and took some notes along the way. Of course, he didn’t need much, he was quite experienced as a spy and had really good memory too.
After the woman told him everything that was important Miss Smith looked at her watch which was made out of light pink jewel and looked very expensive. Toji wasn’t a big watch expert nor did he have the kind of money to buy anything like that but he still admired it trying to figure out what kind of gemstone it was made out of.
While he was wondering Miss Smith quickly got up with a jump, an alarmed look on her face startling Toji.
“Im sorry but I lost track of the time and i do have some plans to attend to, but it was a pleasure meeting you Mr.Fushiguro, I have faith in your skills.” she claimed. “Please if you have some updates call me.” Toji grunted with a nod and the woman was out the door sitting into what seemed like a Bentley Mulsanne. He was not a car geek but he could recognized some of them.
Toji stayed in the cafe starting his research about this new job and just who this woman he’s after is while Megumi left the house to meet up with Maki at the cinema where they agreed to go the day before.
It was quite a windy day so he had to put on a coat. He just got off the bus walking towards the mall the movies were located in walking through the long hallway with shops on every side. He realized that Gojos birthday is coming up in the next month and he should get something for him, probably some sweets and something random.
When he arrived at the entrance of the cinema Maki was in the long line of the buffet waving. A smile spread through Megumis face and he started walking towards her.
“Finally I thought you will never arrive” Maki said with a grin on her face “Good thing I stood into the queue” she congratulated herself straightening her back like a proud hero. Megumi gave a small chuckle bc of how Maki was standing.
After some time they finally got there turn, both of them ordering a large popcorn with a large coke. They found the room the movie was assigned to and sat down. The film they were about to watch was a fantasy one. It was about some fairies who had to keep themselves secret from the world or something like that. Megumi watched the trailer the night before but he didn’t understand many parts of it.
“Ahh… Why are we so early, the movie is only starting in 15 minutes plus the 20 minutes of ads at the beginning so… 35 minutes in total.” Maki whined while reaching for Megumis popcorn and stealing a handful of it. He quickly pulled it away glaring at her.
“Hey! You have your own green head” at that Maki just laughed stuffing the popcorn into her mouth.
“Anyways, so that thing I wanted to talk to you about is that, my father decided that we are moving to another city.” at that Maki slowly turned her head toward Megumi with a fake smile on her face.
“What!..Where?!” she said a little too loudly and a few people in the same room as them turn there heads in the direction of the scream with an annoyed look. Megumi saw it and he became a little flustered at all the attention they got from that squall.
“Shh..your too loud. It’s not that far only 30 minutes from here.” He whispered trying to calm her down as to not get any more annoyed looks.
“Then Im going to move with you.” She said grabbing onto Megumis arm and pouting. “Who’s going to be with me in school?”
“I told you its not far away, we can hangout whenever” He said while he tried to get away from Makis intense grip.
At that moment the lights turned off and a video of an add started playing on the big projector. “Great..here comes the adds” She complained but turn to face it and started watching it in silence.
———
After the film ended both of them were stumbling out of the room almost pissing themselves quickly going to the bathroom. They agreed on meeting up at the exit of the cinema.
When Maki got there Megumi was already there talking to someone on the phone. She started walking towards him. When she got there he was just saying bye to the person on the other side of the line then hanging up.
“Who was it?”
“Just my dad asking me when I will be home and if I want any food when I do.” He explained.
They agreed on going into some stores to look for a present for Gojo. Megumi was glad that Maki was here with him bc she was full of present ideas and also bc he didn’t have any idea what to get for him.
They were looking through stores when in one of them they found a chocolate maker kit. It was the perfect gift for him since he had such a sweet tooth and also it was a little childish too, just like the one who’s getting it.
When they stood into the line they only had one person in front of them, a boy with light pink hair wearing a black pullover. He was talking to the cashier who looked there age as well as the pink haired one.
Megumi didn’t have any problem with them until the boy in front of him finished paying and grabbed the bags that contained the things he brought. People would think that he would now leave the store but no, he didn’t even budge from the line he just continued talking to the worker.
After a minute Megumi grew tired of it and he tapped the boy in front of him. The pink haired one turned around a confused look spreading through his face.
“If your not looking to buy anything else can you please move from the line?” Megumi said kind of annoyed. Now that the boy was facing him he saw that he had quite a handsome face. He was a little taller then Megumi, with probably like 3-4 cms.
“Oh. I’m sorry I didn’t see you guys there, sorry for holding up the line.” The boy said smiling. He reached up to scratch the back of his neck while stepping out the row.
Megumi can’t stand people who don’t pay attention to there surroundings. They took a step closer to the table putting down the chocolate kit. The pink haired boy was still standing next to them looking daggers into Megumi. He was just about to comfort him about it when the cashier spoke.
“Is that it?”. Megumi nodded with a small grunt, getting his phone out from his pocket to pay.
“So.. I didn’t quite got your name?” The boy next to them suddenly started talking. Megumi wasn’t sure who he was talking to but even if he was talking to him he wasn’t in the mood for a conversation with this kid so he decided to just ignore it. Maki had different ideas tho and she turned to face the boy with a smile.
“I’m Maki, and this Megumi.” She said while pointing at him.
“I’m Yuji”
Megumi gave a small glance at Maki while taking the bag of the table and starting to walk towards the door.
“It was nice meeting yall!” Yuji shouted while putting his hand up as a sign if saying bye.
“You too!” Maki waved back, and with that they left the store.
“Why so cold?” Yuji said to his friend behind the counter.
“I don’t know man, I got chills just from looking at him.” The other boy claimed, sitting down and taking a bite from his sandwich.
Yuji continued to stare at the exit where they left putting his hand inside the pocket of his pullover. ‘He was so pretty’ he thought to himself while turning around to face his friend.
———
Toji was on his way home. He found out some things about this woman he was after such as the name, age, company, relationships and more. He just got into his car when his phone buzzed. He picked it up and saw and email from Miss Smith which read: ‘Mr.Fushiguro, I just heard that the rival company of ours have assigned a new CEO and a celebration party will be held. My sister will probably attend this party as well as me.’
Toji remember this so called rival companies name bc Miss Smith told him when they were talking in the cafe. He quickly searched it up and there it was the annunciation of the new head of the company. Toji read the name on the screen.
“Ryomen Sukuna?…Why is the name so familiar?”
