Chapter Text
No matter what she did, Kagome just could not get warm at all. Even after getting the fire extra tall and being wrapped up in three blankets. Kagome felt like it was a lost cause and was giving in to the fact that she might just freeze to death.
It didn’t help when the door flap wouldn’t stay shut and the little hut she called home was rather drafty. There hadn’t been enough time to reinforce the building before the snowstorm struck the village. Kagome didn’t want to be a bother to anyone so she decided to just hunker down in the hut and make do.
Now she was regretting that decision and was thinking of making a break for it to Kaede’s hut. Just so she could at least stay somewhere warm for the night and not wake up stiff as a board.
Right as she was about to stand up a large figure walked into her doorway and entered into her hut. She looked up into Sesshomaru’s face in surprise at seeing him here. She gulped as he closed the door flap and came to sit next to her around the fire.
“You were not at the old Miko’s hut. She expressed concern for your wellbeing, saying your dwelling isn’t sufficient,” He stated while taking in her little hut and scrunching his nose up at what he saw.
“It’s ok, I just can’t get warm, is all. I’ll be fine though,” Kagome muttered trying to wave his concern off.
“You will not be fine Kagome, you would freeze to death if I left you here alone. The storm is only going to get worse as the night goes on.” Sesshomaru said gruffly as he picked her up, blankets and all, and set her in his lap. He took off his mokomoko and wrapped it around her as well, hoping to give the woman as much heat as possible.
Kagome blushed prettily as she couldn't imagine why he had just put her in his lap but resigned herself to staying there. It helped that he was a walking furnace and she was enjoying the heat from him already.
Unknown to her though, Sesshomaru had an alternate reason for coming to her home and keeping her warm. He hoped that this would show her he was able to provide her with protection without having to fight someone.
From him talking with everyone she called family, including his brother, she wasn’t a material girl. Kagome it seemed was one for actions and words, which he lacked in the conversation section.
Sesshomaru planned to try and talk more for her and only for her. He wanted to make her his mate someday, preferably sooner rather than later.
