Chapter Text
"Kacchan, stop it," A young boy screamed as he stood firmly between a group of kids and another boy lying behind him on the ground.
"Get out of the way, Deku, he is almost five. He will be a quirkless loser just like you," A blond boy yelled at the small green-haired boy, while his hands produced little explosions.
"NOO, it's not very hero-like of you to hurt others," The greenhead shouted back bravely, but his body was trembling in fear.
"What did you say? Are you calling me a villain, Deku?" The blond asked in an angry tone as his explosions became stronger.
"You are hurting him, and I will not allow it," The other boy replied.
"Haha, then tank it yourself, loser," The blond spat as he aimed his hands at the greeny and let his explosion loose.
They all waited for a yelp of pain or crying since the greenhead was known to be a crybaby. Instead, they saw a green round barrier around the boy as a book bigger than any book they had all seen raised from the ground and levitated around the greenhead.
"The fuck?" The blond mumbled out.
"Cool, it must be his quirk," One of the boys behind the blond said as he touched the barrier but couldn't push through.
"It's not cool, it's a coward's quirk to hide behind," The blond spat as he exploded the barrier, or he at least tried, but the barrier didn't show any change as it stood strong.
"Let's go, he can't hide behind that thing forever," The blond said as the group turned to leave. It was clear that some wanted to stay and look at that new quirk, but they were too afraid to disobey their group leader of little kids.
"Are you okay?" Izuku asked as he turned to the other boy on the ground. He was so happy inside right now. He had a quirk and a cool one, a barrier, how cool was this?
"I'm fine thanks for helping me." The boy mumbled at him with a smile, he smiled back as he stretched his hand out to pull the boy up.
Suddenly light surrounded them as he felt a string of energy connect them both, a symbol appeared on the back of his hand as it glowed in a light orange.
"Wow," He looked up from his hand and saw that the other boy also had a symbol on the back of his hand, it was glowing in red.
"It looks so cool," He gushed as his fingers traced over the symbol of the other boy.
"So shiny."
"Eijiro come we have to go home," A man called from afar.
"Ohh, I have to go," The boy whined.
"I'm here tomorrow."
"Okay," The other boy said with a smile as he already started to run to his father before suddenly falling on his ass. It looked like he had run into something but his face wasn't hurt.
Confused, the boy stood up as he tried again to reach his father who was coming over, but walking over a certain threshold was suddenly much harder and a force was pulling him back.
"What's the problem?" His father asked as he picked him up.
"I just couldn't go," The boy mumbled into his father's shoulders and yelled in fear as he was suddenly dropped out of his father's hands to the ground.
"What?" the father asked confused before seeing the glowing rune on the back of his son's hand.
To make the long story short, Izuku's quirk kind of bound the two of them together. Well, more like bound the other boy to him, Eijiro, so his name, could only walk about 10 meters away from Izuku before he was pulled back.
Both families got together as they had an emergency appointment for Izuku's quirk registration.
Quirk: The Ancient Grimoire of Magic
It was such a cool name and this was his idea, well, it was more like written on the front. Not that anyone other than him could read it.
He couldn't even read yet, but somehow, these symbols, the adults called them runes. He could read these runes and understand them to a certain degree.
For now, it seemed that his quirk bound Eijiro to him, and they had no idea how to undo it. So for now, he had a new friend in his room, which was super cool for both boys.
"You have so many All Might figures," Eijiro commented as they both lay in bed.
"He is my favorite," Izuku said proudly as he looked at the other boy who was viewing his entire collection.
"He is my second, Red Riot is much better," Eijiro answered.
"Is ... is your dad mad at me for this?" He asked as Eijiro turned to him.
"No, he looks super super super scary when he is mad," Eijiro explained.
"So, you are going to stay until I can undo the bind?" He asked.
"Yeah, we will have so much fun together."
And oh boy, did they have fun over the years that came. Because whatever Izuku tried, he could not undo the bind. He was studying his grimoire all day and yet he couldn't find a solution. At least the distance of 10 meters had grown to 40 meters for now, they hoped it would get bigger in the future.
The two boys understood each other splendidly, it would have been a disaster if they didn't like the other, but oh well. They had the same interests in heroes and with that the same dream.
But the distance restriction still got on their nerves sometimes, nothing could be done alone. An errand for his mother? They had to go together. Going for a walk? The other had to tag along.
A lot of embarrassing stuff also happened, Eijiro was the person who would be automatically pulled back to Izuku. Izuku as the caster was the center, and Eijiro would be by his side no matter what. If a physical wall prevented him from being pulled to Izuku and the distance got bigger, then Eijiro would be teleported to his side.
This also resulted in situations that left Eijiro very embarrassed, like the one time when Eijiro was sitting on the toilet in a school and a group of bullies dragged Izuku along, Eijiro was teleported to Izuku's side still with his pants down. Or the few times when Eijiro was so much faster in the school run and would end up by Izuku's side again.
Eijiro got an interesting hardening quirk with a minor strengthening part, he was super happy with it. They both were, their quirks would allow them to go into a hero school. Still, they would need special administration since well, they were inseparable.
"Come on Izu, you know it's my day and I want to go to the gym," Kirishima whined out beside him. They had created this system, each person had two days in a row to decide where they went. Because while the two understood each other splendidly, their interests were very far apart.
Izuku loved reading and studying his magic at home or even more so, analyzing hero fights. Eijiro, on the other hand, loved sports and the gym, it was the more manly stuff, as he called it.
"I don't wanna, you know how I hate to work out," He replied to his friend.
"Get up now, Katsuki is already waiting. You have 3 seconds or I'm gonna carry you over there," Kirishima warned him, and he shot up from his bed, Eijiro had already done that to him once, and that was embarrassing enough for now.
He hated working out because Eijiro was right, he needed to be fit to be a hero and even more so, to keep up with Eijiro when they fought or ran after someone. Which was more often than he liked to admit as they chased after bullies.
Not that he didn't get his revenge, he forced Eijiro to sit and analyze hero fights with him and study for their exams. They kind of made the other better, even if they had to force them.
"Took you long enough, Shitty Hair, Deku---Izuku," Katsuki greeted them. They kind of became friends over the years, but Katsuki is still arrogant and a little too confident for his liking. Eijiro liked the other boy a lot, he would even say that Eijiro had a crush on Katsuki.
Katsuki's and their relationship weren't the best at the start, that boy had still bullied them for a few years, even after they both had their quirks. One day Izuku had enough and used a spell in school that had put them all down for good.
Spell: Dragon Fear
All students and teachers were paralyzed with such fear that they were unable to move, they couldn't pin the blame on him since he had cast the spell from the bathroom, but still. Most of them had known it was him and feared to face him again.
He was powerful without a doubt, his magic spells while mostly focused on support and defense had a few on the offensive side as well. Most of his spells were rather powerful, and having multiple spells put him at an advantage as he was very versatile in many situations.
The problem was, the stronger the spell the longer the cast time. And he couldn't really move while casting or at least very slowly. That was probably why Eijiro was bound to him, to protect him while he cast his spell.
"Baka-gou," He greeted back as the other thought about a comeback but let it be.
"You two never change," Kirishima sighed out as went to change, he reluctantly followed as he also changed into his gym clothes.
"Did you have any kind of progress regarding your bond?" Katsuki asked as they stepped into the gym.
"A little, we could add two more meters to it, but if you asked about undoing it, well that will take more time. The grimoire hints at it, but I need more circles around my heart to have access to more of the book," He answered as he got to the bench press, Katsuki behind him to spot him.
"And you have how many circles now?" The blond asked.
"I'm a four-circle mage."
"Is that good or????"
"It's good for my age, or at least that's what the grimoire tells me. But the more circles I have, the more time I need to create a new circle," He explained as the blond nodded.
That was also one of his problems, mana, he could see and feel it. It was the energy each person had for their quirks, the more powerful someone was, the more mana they had.
He had almost zero mana, which was bad since he couldn't cast a lot of spells with that. But his mana wasn't the only source, he could take in mana from the surroundings, but that needed time, hence the circles around his heart.
The circles around his heart stored the mana he took in from nature, but there was a limit on how much. If that mana was exhausted, then the bond between him and Kirishima would automatically activate and drain Kirishima's mana into his.
Which was good for him and not the most pleasant thing for his partner, Kirisihma was by no means against it but told him that he should be careful not to depend too much on him.
"It's my turn," Kirishima announced bringing back from his thoughts, shit had he spaced out again. Suddenly his arms felt weak and he noticed that he had almost no energy left.
"Careful," Kirishima laughed as he took the weight out of his hands without much trouble.
"Thanks, I'm gonna study for a bit before continuing later," He told his partner in crime.
"Sure, but do not skip anything," Kirishima warned.
"Hey, that's my line, I have seen how lazy you have become with your analysis," He shot back.
"I don't need it, I will be a fighter-type hero anyway."
"I don't need this as well, didn't we both agree that it would make us better when we can do both?"
"Fine, you will have it tomorrow on your desk," Eijiro said in defeat.
