Chapter Text
Everything starts with something, like a seed. Given with warmth and evolves to adapt to the environment, it continuously grows and becomes a beautiful plant. Like with other living species, whether a human or a demon, they all start with something before they grow and expand further. Everything has its own process of growth, but as anything nor anyone has a beginning there comes its own ending, where in the eyes enclosed and the surroundings slowly be filled with a vivid dark void of nothingness that is referred to as death.
Death is a phenomenon that everyone acknowledges. They say that the feeling is similar to a heat that once resides within you, that eventually fades and you'll be left lifeless and cold, to rot in the soil. So no one really expects to be handed a chance to rise from the ashes anew. But an unexplainable thing that everyone knows is even impossible, has occurred.
A few decades has elapsed, the young brown-haired celestial primate, formerly the savior from another world, had reincarnated into such a world with horrid virtues, and the implementation of unfair laws to the humankinds as they are the inferior individuals.
As the Great sage equal to heaven or the Monkey King, Sun Wukong and the Six-eared Macaque are the monarchs of the three realms that are under their territory, henceforth there's the mortal plane wherein their other sworn brothers are given jurisdiction and control of each different lands for having a portion in successfully overthrowing the previous ruler.
One who had benefited the most was the Demon Bull Family who are widely known as of currently to have control of the Megapolis city as the promised land given by both the emperors. Under their own, the city had far more advancement due to the prince of their royal menagé, Red Son, compared to the other cities. The red-haired man who stood with a fierce personality, a stunning face that earned him a lot of suitors, an intelligent mind that is way ahead of others and has control of the most destructive weapon that even immortals are terrified of, the Samadhi Fire, an inextinguishable flame that even trying to douse with water would only helps increases in double of the power he wields, which is the reason why he can be considered a threat.
Mk, who was given a chance to breathe once again, still doesn't remember his former life while he exists at present. Growing up is a hassle for him since he was born as a human so he would always face a lot of offensive remarks whenever he even just walked past anywhere, but despite that he endured it because he prefers not to succumb to violence and brutality even if he's so close to resorting to barbarity.
A person like him has the heart that is in sentient tranquility, the kind that finds inner peace even if everything is seemingly in a chaotic battlefield. Mk, who is already twenty years of age, is also working as a delivery boy under a demon named Pigsy, who he might as well say is the one that acted as a father figure who adopted him when he was a toddler despite being a part of the insignificant race.
And his co-father, Tang, a human, also an announced freeloader of Pigsys' noodle restaurant and the one who introduces him of the knowledge about every chronicle of the history of the Monkey King, therefore he’s often near Tang to hangout with since he doesn't really have any friends. So it is likely that he finds himself participating in a lot of gatherings regarding the Monkey King and buying things such as Monkey King themed stuffed toys, posters, CDs, video games and many more.
Undoubtedly, he found stories of the monkey king to be full of horrors and viciousness but he still take an interest, especially in the power that the Monkey King has and how he utilizes it to its full potential. If only he could acquire a power like that, it would be cool and he would use it to protect himself and the people that are important to him, not only that but he'll be respected and acknowledged as a person. But then again, it seems truly far out of reach.
“Mk I swear if you're not gonna do any of your delivery work, you're fired !” Yelled Pigsy while pointing a stainless soup ladle at the young brown-haired man who's currently entertaining himself by engaging in Monkey Mech game and also sitting with his eyes focused intensely.
Monkey Mech is a popular video game that even has its own continual productions and merchandise that are heavily supported by Sun Wukong himself . Nonetheless, he finds it to be a pleasant amusement of experience and euphoric to participate in whenever he has free time, for the purpose of to release a bit of pent up stress.
“Oh come on Dadsy! Maybe a little bit mo-'' Mk hushed down swiftly when he turned around and gulped at the sight of the sharpened stare his father looked at which made him sweat even further out of nervousness.
He sighed in defeat, apparently he had no fight in him to defy so he slowly stood up, then relinquished and owned up to the duty he was assigned to. So, he hurriedly snatched all the goods and stepped outside the restaurant to deliver some orders. He put the deliveries in his vehicle and departed.
He dedicated himself to be helpful for his father who had raised him because he is grateful. To the point that he could even argue with logical reasoning that not all demons are the same. He just does not find himself to be deemed to such stereotypes when he had been living with one. But he does not also disregard the facts about the unfairness and inequality of their social positions and treatments in this prejudiced hierarchy. Although it may not seem like it, Mk is actually educated on those controversial issues.
He may behave densely and be slow on the uptake on purpose to enliven the atmosphere occasionally, but he isn't visually impaired to be unable to distinguish and see the discriminations that frequently arise. However, he's only an average human with a mediocre life and employment status so even if delve deeply, it would be foolish to attempt to modify the world as he hopes to be.
A peaceful world with less concerns of cruelty. If only he isn't impuissant to the higher ranks, he would love to have that. So since he isn't high-powered these entire thoughts would only constantly linger in the internal subconscious and nothing more because he is just a pebble that everyone could squash in tiny pieces.
…..
The pig demon took a peek outside the window of his shop and saw Mk drive away with the packaged goods to carry out. His attention shifted as the sounds of his customer's and his own kitchen electronics distracted him which made him snap out of his thoughts.
“You’re looking down a bit, Pigsy.” Tang pointed out as he swallowed the last bit of noodles in his bowl.
Pigsy rotated his head and furrowed one of his eyebrows. He sought to find out what Tang meant by that statement but he may have a little idea that he already had concluded but he still wants to hear it from him for confirmation.
Tang gently slammed the bowl onto the table, then proceeded to drink a full glass of water and wiped his wet lips. “I meant that Mk is already an adult and you're still seeing him as a kid.” Tang said in addition and crossed his arms.
“Well the kid might already be an adult but he's still acting like it.” He responded, trying to not make his thoughts of concerns and worries about his adopted son visible.
He may not like the usual affectionate father but he shows his carefulness through actions and sacrifices that he makes for Mk. Even though they're not related in blood, they might as well be for how they treat one another like a biological functional family.
“You know that he's not gonna stay a child forever though.” Tang said still sat on his chair and now opened the book of his Monkey King documentaries to read in awe.
Tang has a very different perspective, he's the type to be realistically in terms of everything but visibly affectionate towards the kid, while Pigsy is contradictory, he is the kind that shows cares through tough love. Although Pigsy was already aware of the reality that Mk has grown so much. Yet he still stumbled upon the time they had their first encounter and he could still remember it vividly. The first time they had met, it was unknown to him that it would be the most fortunate and the happiest day of his life that no amount of his adoration and admiration for food could ever compare.
Darkness has fallen admists, as the wind blows a chilly temperature. But there stood two men quarreling to decide whether each should have their designated work to do to willingly partake but due to the refusals of the other, it leads to a continual passive-aggressive rebuttals.
“You freeloader! How many times should I tell you that-'' Pigsy paused for a moment as well as Tang. Both were confused when a brief cry was heard and echoed in the alley.
Heavy breaths and mouths that were unwilling to utter fell in silence but soon broke off as Tang quickly spoke, “What was that?”.
“I don't know!” Pigsy said bewildered but hinted to delve more into curiosity as sharp teeths are gritting.
They both looked at each other before they nodded in confirmation and started to approach slowly towards where the sound was coming from. When both arrived nearby and cautiously went beside the dumpster, they gasped in perplexed when they saw a human baby in a basket with blankets covering him wholly and with the name “Qi Xiaotian” written on a small piece of paper.
“It's a…baby?” Tang might be confused and internalizing a lot of stuff as of the moment but he is contemplating a lot of thoughts to even move.
Like who has the audacity to leave a baby without any sort of security and a human too. If they haven't been the one to have found him first, there's no guarantee that the baby would even survive alone. It's pitiful that an innocent baby like this is abandoned in a dirty place. So from that moment, when the baby cooed adorably, both of them have decided that they would take the unprotected toddler under their care and it'll stay that way.
…..
Sweat drops as the heat is seeping through past the clothes that Mk is wearing currently. The wind outside is even like the steam that comes from a hotpot and he could feel that he'll probably get sunburned as usual but he still drove towards the horizon despite that, after all, he did promise that he would deliver the orders at an approximate time absolutely so he had a task to fulfill and to comply.
He already gave out the other deliveries and soon might finish. He just needs to deliver one last noodle to a place way further in the town he usually is located but he's determined.
Soon he finally arrived at the place and gave the order and even got an extra tip for being 5 minutes early which is unusual and even he was shocked himself. Then, he happily hopped in glee supposedly in his tuk tuk when suddenly familiar faces appeared.
This is really one of those days which after you receive a reward you'll be met with an unexpected misfortune. He stopped as the two turned around in his direction and bit by bit they proceeded towards Mk wearing a mischievous smirk on their faces.
Fuck! He's doomed, it'll be ridiculous if the cause of his death would be written in his tomb due to being stared to death, in one of the times, the phrase if looks could kill he's already dead , is applied.
They both laughed and Mk tried his best to attempt to do the same but miserably failed. He watched as both demons towered over him with their huge difference in height, the one on the right side has white hair and his skin is blue while the other on the left side has golden hair that is short at the back and his skin is orange.
A contrast of one another but surely both a menace, especially since he accidentally made an offense in which they're really furious about since it's an unforgettable event followed by humiliations.
“Well look who we have here.” enunciated the white haired demon, arms crossed and smiling widely.
“The noodle boy is set to be roasted right about...” The white haired demon paused as he readied and activated his ability in his hands, “Now!” He didn't wait any more time to waste, he lunged at the other at full speed but fortunately Mk dodge it and ran on the spur of the moment like he was in a running marathon, only that he's actually running from someone who is capable of murder.
As he was running throughout an open marketplace while being chased, he kept uttering apologies. As he continued with his pace he abruptly tripped on a rock and bumped on someone. He groaned in pain and rubbed his head a bit, he looked at the man he impacted into. The one in front of him seems to be a mechanic or an architect since the metals and the blueprints that fell onto the ground sort of give it away, and he wears a cloak which is really weird .
“Watch where you are going, peasant !” The cloaked man growled in an irritated tone.
If it weren't for the fact he sees the ones who's hunting for him, he'll probably have assessed the whole thing and ask forgiveness to the cloaked man but he spared no glance and continued to stand up and sprint away.
Heavy breathing is more loud as he found himself inside the forest. He looked pitiful, and really almost short on breath but when he heard the echoes of voices of those demon delinquents, he stepped into the cabin. He looked in his surroundings and found a small trap door under a carpet, he opened it and went inside. He stayed quiet and sat steadily, as nervousness gnawed.
Later on, the voices that once entered the cabin left and sounds of footsteps went into another direction. So Mk once again, opened the trapdoor and sighed in relief. He's glad he survived all of that, he got to live for another day.
He looked around a bit, it's really dusty inside. Everything also looks anciently constructed now that he's finally observing all over the area. He looked in awe when he saw Monkey King-related things on the shelf, he swiftly went and decided to take the book at the top. At the moment he took the book something heavy fell on his head which gave him a headache, which is getting a bit silly.
As the thing that fell rolled over ahead, he glanced at and was enamored. It looks like the emperor's old staff that is rumored to be hidden, but it's laying there and something is pulling him towards it, a strong one. As soon as he touched it a flash of memories came over him, what once was unlocked is now unleashed.
Every journey and experiences he gained from his previous life on the other world, a world much different than now is far different and it's overwhelming. He remembered his sacrifices to pursue harmony but it looks like his existence is peregrination that even in afterlife he wasn't accepted but rather ends up transmigrated in another world.
Apparently he has knowledge that can be dangerous and harnessed but he sought to his last will, to restore peace and lost friendships. He has a lot of hunch that once what his ordinary life was is now at its peak.
