Summary:

gon and killua lost contact even after promising to keep in touch. after a few months gon gets a sudden call late at night from killua in distress insisting to see gon. Killua giving no more context gon agrees worried for his friend. Somthing terrible had happend to killua and gon was gonna find out.

Chapter 1

It had been almost two years since Killua and Gon went on their separate journeys, and though they promised to stay in contact with each other, as time grew on, it seemed their communication became more sparse. What used to be weekly became monthly to the point it almost just stopped altogether. What could be so important to the two of them that they would put their friendship at risk? Surprisingly, the last few messages were from Gon, sending one almost daily. But day after day, there was no answer. It was a dreadful silence to Gon that he couldn't stand. After long, he stopped as well..

10:32 PM
Gon lay awake in bed After his long travel to a small town down south of east Gortoe. Finally settling into a small lodge, he planned to stay in for a few days before beginning his travels once again. Feeling restless, Gon stared at the nightstand, waiting for his phone to light up again as it used to. He knew better, but that didn't stop him from hoping.
As Gon drifted off to sleep, he only had one thought in his mind.

'I just want to know you're okay, Killua.'

2:00 AM
Heavy rain fell, Killuas light steps and exhausted breath quiet in comparison as he ran down a back trailed mountain heading for the nearest town, searching for the first phone booth he could find. The closest one being at the edge of town by an empty road only aluminated by a singular street light. Once under the cover of the booth, Killua wiped the water from his face, smearing blood onto his cheek; he swiftly picked up the phone, holding it to his ear as he dialed. Killua paused before the last number, taking a shakey breath in an attempt to compose himself. The phone rang. Each tone felt longer than the last.
"come on, come on. Pick up damit."

*Bzzzt *Bzzzt *Bzzzt
Gon's sleeping figure jumped up without a second's hesitation. He grabbed his phone. The possibility of it being anyone else besides Kill was significantly outweighed, but he didn't care. He had to check.
It wasn't a number he recognized, not to mention the time they were calling.

Gon reluctantly answered and paused. "Hello?"

"Gon!" Killua said with a pang of excitment.

"Killua! I'm so happy you called." Gon was overflowing with joy, forgetting all the time he had lost, but the moment was cut short as his friend responded.

"I really need to see you." his tone was low, sad, almost. As excited as Gon was to hear those words, he knew something was up.

"what's wrong? Did something happen?" the phone line went silent; Gon heard a sound one could only describe as a faint cry.
"killua.."
"Please, can you tell me where you are? Can you do that for me?" this didn't sound like him at all. Something happened. something bad.
"yeah, I can, but.."
killua cut him off. "Everything's fine; I'll fill you in when I arrive."
Gon had many questions, but he needed to wait.
"Well. Alright. I'm in Setil town in a lodge right off Tsubashi Street."
Without a word, the phone cut off.
Gon, still confused about the whole situation, determined he would not leave the lodge until his friend had arrived safe.
