Chapter Text
"How many times do I have to tell you to not leave the cups in the sink?” Jongin tries so hard not to come out as a nagging mom. Like someone who Sehun has no choice but to listen to and get up straight away to fix whatever they’re pointing out. Because it’s annoying and it triggers him too but these days as he learns to live with a lazy, unserious typical Alpha, he just understands his mom more and more. Sehun’s countenance changed. He stormed into the small kitchen they shared and moved the unwashed cups onto the little counter space.
“Can you not be a pain in my ass for at least one day?” Sehun sounds so pissed. Probably because of the game earlier today. Probably because of the way Jongin just spoke to him.
“Well I wouldn’t if you clean up after yourself.” Jongin said and Sehun growled impatiently.
“Do not leave these cups unwashed for too long either.” Jongin added and quickly headed for the door. He knows not to be near a pissed alpha.
“Yes, Mom.” Sehun mocks.
Jongin knows days like these are coming when he first learnt he was assigned to room with an Alpha. Not just any Alpha. Oh Sehun. Of all people.
He stormed into the housing reception the day he found out who he’s going to have to room with.
“What do you mean I’ll have to live with an Alpha?” He slammed the paper on to the table, glared hard into the nonchalant eyes. He’s been emailing them all week but they didn’t respond.
“Well Jongin, as I said earlier in the email, we can’t do anything about it because all the rooms are full.”
Well, they did. Once. Telling the exact same thing.
“But…” the reception girl stretches Jongin’s face, almost lit up. Almost.
“You can move out if you want. We won’t charge you for not fulfilling the contract.”
Jongin's face fell. He can’t do that. The campus is in the city centre. Even though it’s almost a university town, chances of getting a place near the school campus within his budget is zero to none.
“What’s wrong with living with an Alpha?” A deep but clear voice sounded from behind and Jongin noticed how a faint blush crawled up on the nonchalant receptionist's face before he turned around to look at Oh Sehun who just so happened to be helping the reception office with carrying the start of semester boxes.
“Everything!”
His mind drifted to his middle school days. Days he spent trying to be just like any other boy his age, playing basketball, getting in trouble, trying to act as tough as they can so they will not lose their position in the unspoken but present hierarchy after an unpromising presentation. Even before his presentation, Jongin knew. Jongin always knew he’s an omega because of his secret. A secret which Jongin kept safe to himself to this day.
He also remembered the scrawny little boy who gets picked on almost everyday.
It was not always “How many times do I have to tell you to not leave the cups in the sink?”. It started with just moving them himself quietly. Because he was trying so hard to get along with Sehun. And then it changed to “Can you please move the cups from the sink?” which quickly evolved to “Can you not leave the cups in the sink?”
But Sehun never learns. Never.
