Barty shot off his last text before pulling open the door to Padfoot’s, the tattoo shop Sirius opened. It had unsurprisingly become very popular. Sirius had refused to hire anyone who wasn’t as good as him. Currently, they had Sirius and Evan for freestyle tattoos, Regulus to draw up designs, leaving Marlene and Barty to do piercings. Technically it was Barty’s day off, but he had a surprise in store for Evan.

Marlene glanced up from the magazine they were reading when Barty entered. “What are you doing here? I thought you were off.”

“I am, I’ve got an appointment with Sirius,” Barty told them.

“Oh, you’ve got to be kidding me,” Marlene burst out laughing. “You’re Barry Squats.”

Barty rolled his eyes. “Fuck off, he did not put me under that name.”

Sirius walked out from the back. “Of course I did. You insisted Evan couldn’t know it was you.”

“And Barry Squats was the best you could come up with?” Barty asked, sounding exasperated. Sirius shrugged and motioned for Barty to follow him.

As Barty settled into the tattoo chair, Sirius prepared his equipment. The buzzing of the tattoo machine filled the air, creating a steady rhythm. Barty glanced at Marlene, who was still chuckling and couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness about the surprise for Evan. Sirius prepped Barty’s skin before laying down the stencil.

“So he really has no idea you’re getting it?” Sirius asked.

“Nope, he thinks I'm at home taking a nap before the party.”

Sirius chuckled and began tattooing. Barty had been planning this for months. Evan had revealed his idea about the design months ago after a drunken night out. He probably didn't even know Barty remembered it. As the machine continued to buzz, Barty couldn’t help but reflect on his relationship. It had taken them a while to get together, especially when you think about how badly they wanted each other, but now that they were, everything was amazing. Sure, they bickered and argued, but who didn't? Barty’s thoughts were interrupted by the bell above the door jingling. Evan walked in and was shocked to see Barty.

“I thought you were at home?” The blonde asked, sounding confused.

A massive grin spread across Barty’s face, “Surprise, Rosie.”

Evan rolled his eyes fondly and walked over. When he sees the tattoo, his eyes go wide.

“That's my design.” He points to the “Lucky You” now inked across Barty’s lower abdomen.

“Oh really? I hadn’t realized,” Barty teased.

Evan raised an eyebrow, a mix of surprise and delight on his face. “You got my design permanently inked?”

Barty chuckled. “Well, I figured 'Lucky You' was fitting. After all, I'm the lucky one.”

Evan rolled his eyes again, but this time with a playful grin. “Smooth, very smooth.”

As Sirius finished the tattoo, Barty admired the artwork in a handheld mirror. Marlene had stopped laughing and now looked at them with a knowing smile.

“Aw, how romantic,” she teased.

Barty shot her a mock glare. “Don't start, Marls. I can be sentimental too.”

With the tattoo done, Sirius handed Barty some aftercare instructions. “Take care of that masterpiece.”

Evan, still processing the unexpected turn of events, finally found his words. “You went through all this trouble to surprise me?”

Barty nodded. “Well, it's not just any surprise. It's one of your birthday presents.”

Evan's expression softened, and he pulled Barty into a hug. “I can't believe you did all this. I thought you were just taking a nap.”

“That's what I wanted you to think,” Barty replied, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.

Barty couldn't shake the feeling that he had made the right choice. The "Lucky You" tattoo was more than just ink on his skin, it was a symbol of the love and connection he shared with Evan.
