Chapter 1: Prologue

"I'm not joking, Joong. You need to have a bodyguard. The threats that you have been receiving are getting more physical. Khun Phuwin here provides the best bodyguard and executive protection services. Are you even listening to me?!" Paaw Jack was beyond frustrated as Joong showed disinterest.

There was a knock on the door. The person caught the attention of Joong as he asked Phuwin to sign a document. He was too tall to be an omega. His shoulders too broad. But yet he looked slender and features too beautiful and delicate to be a beta. 

Joong didn't get to contemplate further as he noticed that he was about to leave. He rushed into action. 

"I want him." Joong pointed towards the newcomer.

It shocked Dunk and Phuwin when Joong pointed towards Dunk.

"I'm sorry, he is not in the protection service team. May I suggest the best alpha on our team. They are well trained and equipped for anything." Phuwin tried to divert Joong's attention.

"I heard that everyone in your company has combat training, am I wrong?" Phuwin felt trapped at the moment. It is true that everyone in his company is trained. They are well prepared for any scenario being in the dangerous business that they were in. Phuwin pursed his lips.

"If you give me him, I'll make sure that the Guntithanon clan and the Teepakorn clan use your services only. Wouldn't that solidify your position as the head of the Tangsakyuen clan, Taan Phuwin?" Joong sat there with a smug smile on his face. He may be a celebrity but he is also the heir of the Guntithanon clan. He knows how to play the political game.

Phuwin clenched his hands. It was way too tempting but he couldn't in good conscientious allow Dunk to take on such a dangerous job, not to mention Pond will have his head if he knows. If Joong knows Dunk's designation... All the thoughts twirling in his head as he weighs the pros and cons.

"I'll take the job." Dunk voiced out. Phuwin looked at Dunk in shock. Dunk looked at him with pleading eyes. They really don't have a choice in this matter. Their fate in the Tangsakyuen clan depended on this deal. Phuwin relented. They signed an agreement. Dunk will report for duty in a week as he needed to handover his work. An excuse for Phuwin to buy time. Joong was fine with that. He promised Paaw Jack that he would stay in the Guntithanon compound to avoid any trouble.

Joong wore a dreamy smile on his way back to the clan house. He was giddy with joy. He would recognize that low timbre voice anywhere. It had been 7 years of searching with no result and yet he had met him by happenstance. He had grown to be a handsome yet beautiful young man.

I can't believe I found you, my sunflower. 

Chapter 2: Panic sets in

 Phuwin was pacing his office when Joong and his company left. He looked at Dunk with a hand in his hair

"Do you have any idea what you signed up for?! What do we tell Pond?" Phuwin was panicking at this point.

"What do you need to tell me?" Pond walked in at an uncanny timing. Phuwin stopped dead in his track. He didn't know what to tell his mate. He has basically sold Dunk to solidify his place as the head of the Tangsakyuen clan. He may be the dominant one in the relationship but an alpha's rage was no laughing matter. Dunk clasped Phuwin's hand.

"Phi mai huang. Phi mei pid (don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong). Calm down before people can scent you through your scent blocker." Dunk tried to calm Phuwin down.

"Phi Pond, fang dee dee na (listen carefully). Don't make any comments before I finish." Dunk knew there was no escaping and hopefully Pond will listen to reason. Pond was silent throughout Dunk's explanation of what just transpired.

"I'm going to be Joong Archen's bodyguard that's final. It's for the best, Phi Pond. The elders will have no reason to deny Phi Tang the position of the head of the clan, they can no longer oppose your position as his alpha. It secures our position in the Tangsakyuen clan." He pleaded for Pond to see reason. Pond wished he could find fault with Dunk's logic but there was none. Even though he may be Phuwin's true mate, his family had never really acknowledged their mating. Dunk and him were rogues without a pack, what more a clan to back them up. He sighed. He looked at Phuwin. His mate had never looked so lost and vulnerable from the time he met him. He went over to give him a hug, whispering words of comfort to his ears.

"We have one week." Phuwin spoke to his chest. Pond closed his eyes at that, not wanting to face the reality of it.

"I'll be fine, Phi Pond. I'll be wearing scent blocker, I'll take suppressants. He won't know. He'll think I'm a beta." Pond looked at Dunk, his once innocent bright eye look was now dimmed by the reality of their life for the past 7 years.

"Phu and I will train you personally. You will need to beat the best alpha bodyguard on the team within a week. This Joong may take a liking to you but I doubt the Guntithanon clan will be kind to a beta bodyguard. It will be a blasphemy if they knew you are an omega. You have to be extra careful." Pond can't help but worry for Dunk. Dunk nodded, giving both of them a hug, assuring them that everything will be fine.

Pond couldn't sleep that night. He stared at the ceiling, weighing in the implication for Dunk.

"If Dunk is good, Joong takes a liking to him. It may be safer for him. At least he won't be force into an arranged mating by the elders. If Dunk has Guntithanon clan as his backup they will have no say." Phuwin trying to look at the bright side in this turn of event. Pond sighed.

"I'm just afraid that he likes Dunk a little too much and wants him as his mate." Dunk may be too tall and broad for an omega but his delicate features would be his downfall.

"The Guntithanon clan wouldn't allow Joong to have just anyone as his mate, they are talking about the clan omega of the Guntithanon clan after all" Pond was quiet. He didn't dare to tell Phuwin that Dunk wasn't just any ordinary omega. He was afraid that the Tangsakyuen elders would have sold him to the highest bidder if they knew. Up till this day, he hasn't told anyone of the truth about Dunk. He was afraid of the danger that Dunk may face.  

Chapter 3: Dunk's test

"Can you tell me why you hired a beta bodyguard?!" Sarawat wasn't happy with his son's decision. Both him and Tine had been worried when they heard of the accident on set.

"Paaw, Phuwin Tangsakyuen is well known for his protection detail service. Anyone on his team is good." Joong tried to persuade.

"Look at him, he looks more like an eye candy than a bodyguard!" Sarawat slaps Dunk's photo on the table. Tine picked the picture up.

"That's the point, so he doesn't stand out. I work in the entertainment industry. Do I want a buff looking guy beside me all the time? I'm an alpha, Paaw." Joong looked towards Tine for help.

"Wat, our boy knows what he's doing. You know that by tradition, that boy would need to best our elite team. So don't worry. We'll know if he is qualified by then." Tine tried to appease his mate. Joong's eyes widen at that. He had forgotten about it. There was no backing out now. The agreement was signed. He hoped his sunflower will survive through it.

It was a grueling week of training for Dunk. Phuwin had taught Dunk how to use his omega lithe body to his advantage against the buff alphas. Pond had taught how to locate Alpha's weak point. His speed and attention to detail had helped him defeat the best alpha on the team. The last part of the training was the most challenging but essential in Phuwin's eyes. Despite Joong not knowing Dunk's designation, it was still essential that he knows how to override the command of an alpha's voice. Dunk had to be prepared for everything.

Dunk was greeted by the Guntithanon's elite team the moment he reached the clan house. He had blocked the first attack, throwing him down the stair of the clan house entrance. He had switftly avoided all the upcoming attacks. None of them were able to come into contact with his body as he dodged them. Phuwin had mentioned that they might test him but compared to his vigorous training the past week, this was nothing. It explained how Joong was attacked. They definitely needed to up their security. A kick here and a jab there. All the alphas in the elite team were sprawling across the floor of the clan house entrance. They had their ego bruised, dissatisfied that they were bested by a beta. Joong was beaming with pride as Dunk stepped into the clan house without breaking a sweat. His suit still prim and proper without a crease. None of his hair out of place.

Sarawat began to understand what his son saw in him. He really was unassuming to an ordinary eye but deadly when it comes to skills.

"It seems that the Tangsakyuen clan's reputation far preceding its name. I'm sorry for doubting you. How should I call you?" Sarawat addressed Dunk as Dunk wai-ed.

"Dunk. Phom cheu len Dunk (My nickname is Dunk), clan alpha, clan omega." He spoke to Sarawat and turned to Tine as he wai-ed, addressing the both of them. 

"Drop the formality, Dunk. You are guarding our son's life. You are family to us." Tine smiled warmly and moved forward for a hug. Dunk was unused to the warm gesture and had appeared stiff in his hug. Joong frowned at that. He wondered what had happened to his sunflower in those 7 years.  

Chapter 4: Dunk at GMMTV

Joong and Dunk were drawing heads when stepped into the GMMTV office, Dunk especially. As much as Joong loved seeing Dunk in a 3 piece suit, he had asked him to ditch it and blend in with casual wear. Everyone wondered who was that good looking guy beside Joong. 

Was he a new actor?

They sat in the office with Phi Aof.

"Luuk (son), I'm afraid we haven't found a partner for you. Everyone is afraid for their life after the last accident, even Mai backed out the last minute. I really do think you are the perfect embodiment of Win in The Secret Within but if I can't find a partner for you, I will have to drop you." There was no other way for Phi Aof to soften the blow.

"It isn't just one project, isn't it? Once you drop me, I wouldn't have any other projects because of what happened. Acting is my life passion!" Joong slammed the table. Paaw Jack squeezed his shoulder to comfort him. Dunk could only stand there and observe. He had read the report. His last partner was in the hospital, fighting for her life. She may never act again. It was a miracle that Joong escaped that fate. They had no way of finding who the culprit was. The investigation had only shown that it wasn't an accident. It was an intention to take Joong's life.

Joong had looked towards Dunk, "What about him?" Dunk was confused by what he implied.

Phi Aof looked at Dunk. "Sure, he has the look but we're talking about acting here."

Joong passed Dunk the script. "Let him try, we'll decide from there. Try the part of Sun highlighted in yellow, Dunk. I'll be Win"

"Luuk, he's your bodyguard! How do you expect him to do his job if you ask him to act?!" Paaw Jack trying to dissuade him. Dunk was wondering along the same line but he saw the desperation in Joong's eye. He sighed and took a look at the script. He memorized it and told Joong when he was ready. Dunk took a deep breath as he tries to channel into the character.

"Why, why are you still here? I don't understand what you want from me!" Sun (Dunk) shouted, tears rimming in his eyes as he looked at Win (Joong).

"I just want to be there for you, to take care of you, to love you. There's nothing more that I ask of you."  Win (Joong)  pressed his forehead against  Sun (Dunk)  .

"There's nothing that I can give."  Sun (Dunk)' s voice trembled as he spoke.

"Love me" Win (Joong) whispered. Sun (Dunk) could no longer hold the tears within, it rolled down his face unwillingly. Win (Joong)'s lips hovering close to Sun (Dunk) . Dunk shied away from it, wiping his tears and wai-ed at Phi Aof.

"Shiiaa... He's good. He's the best version of Sun I've seen so far. The chemi between both of you...ohoo~~ This is going to be a hit!" Joong smiled. He looked towards Dunk as he flustered at Phi Aof's compliments. 

His sunflower never disappoints.

 

Chapter 5: A distant memory

"Phi Den, Phi Den! I've decided. I want to be an actor. I'm going to study performing arts when I go to uni like you." His sunflower beamed at his decision.

"I'll wait for you, my sunflower." Joong smiled widely, stroking his hair as they sat at their favourite meeting place, the garden in the university. He couldn't help but give him a sniff kiss after. Dunk had always been what he looked forward to each day. His Paaw had always wondered why he was so excited to go to uni. 

The happy moment had ended too quickly. Dunk heard someone calling for him. He waved goodbye at Joong before leaving. Joong looked on as he disappeared into the distance.

A distant memory that surfaced in Joong's dream. The last moment that he spent with his sunflower 7 years ago. That was until he became his bodyguard today. He sighed.

Unbeknownst to Joong, Dunk had a similar dream. Though his memory of the moment was much more vague. He remembered calling someone Phi Den but he couldn't see his feature clearly. No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't make the image of him clearer.

"Phi Den..." Dunk mumbled the name under his breath. 

 

Chapter 6: Nothing is what it seems

They had reached the Guntithanon clan house after finish filming the trailer. Joong was proud that despite the lack of training, Dunk's acting skills could rival any budding actor in the industry.

Joong was surprised to see Phuwin with another person along with his parents. Dunk had beamed at their presence. He rushed over to greet them. That person gave Dunk a shoulder hug as Phuwin grasped his hand while he asked how was his day. Joong felt an undercurrent of jealousy at how close they were. Dunk had no qualms of showing affection towards them. They were definitely close.

"Don't worry, Khun Phuwin. We'll extend our protection towards Dunk. He had proved himself to be more than competent to be our son's bodyguard. Do excuse my son's willfulness, I can't thank Dunk enough that he accommodates him." His Paaw, Sarawat assured Phuwin as he ended their conversation.

"Luuk (son), come meet Khun Phuwin and his mate Khun Pond." Tine called Joong over. Joong had an internal sigh of relief when he realized that that person is Phuwin's mate. He greeted them.

"Khun Pond offered to be your bodyguard since Dunk is now acting with you. He may not be able to carry on with his duty as best as he could." Sarawat looked towards Joong. Still... he wasn't comfortable with the idea of Pond just yet.

"Maybe not for now. Let's observe and see how the situation goes." Joong replied. A look flashed between Phuwin and Pond but it was quick to leave before Joong could decipher.

"Let us know. We'll make a move and not overstay our welcome then." Phuwin, Pond and Dunk wai-ed at Sarawat, Tine and Joong before leaving. Their movement in synchrony.

"What do you mean by extending protection towards Dunk?" Joong was curious.

"Khun Pond and Dunk were rogues without a pack. It wasn't until Khun Phuwin met Khun Pond and realized that he is his true mate that they are now under the Tangsakyuen clan. But they are both worried about Dunk. The Tangsakyuen clan view rogues as a class beneath them. They tolerate him now because of our agreement, so he asked if we could extend our protection towards Dunk. I think there's no doubt of that. Seeing how he can tolerate you." Sarawat shook his head at Joong's willful act of making Dunk his acting partner.

Joong was stunned. His sunflower was not a rogue when they first met. He couldn't begin to understand what has happened within the last 7 years.

Chapter 7: Running on fumes

Perhaps Joong was too hasty in not taking on Pond as his bodyguard. Though their trailer was accident free and the fans were elated for the upcoming series, nothing prepared them when the actual shooting took place. Dunk had to constantly improvise his scenes to avoid Joong from getting hurt. Joong was confused the first time Dunk improvised. When a large crate smashed where he was supposed to stand, he was shocked to say the least. Joong had learnt to trust Dunk's instinct from them on, following the mood of the character as he remembered what the scene was supposed to convey.

Under normal circumstances, the changes would have irked Phi Aof. But Phi Aof was in love with the improvisation. It somehow made the scenes more real. Dunk was careful to ensure they stay within the area and not move beyond the blocking. They were still able to capture the essence of the character and what the story needed to convey. He couldn't believe that Dunk was a rookie actor when it was clear that he was leading Joong as they went.

The constant need to be alert and improvising scenes was taking a toll on Dunk. It was practically a 2 in 1 job. It was draining Dunk. The nightmare started, a distant past that still haunted him. 

It started out like any other ordinary day. He went to school. He waited for Pond to finish his class at uni after school. They returned home to a sea of fire. The whole compound was burning to the ground.

"Paaw! Pa!" Dunk had every intention to rush into the fire to save his family but Pond dragged him away.

Pond and Phuwin hushed Dunk's screams as he rode through his nightmare. His cry of despair clenched at their hearts. They could only hug him to convey the comfort that they could give.

Joong looked at this guy who introduced himself as Gawin. He apologized for Dunk's absence and informed him that he will be replacing Dunk for the day. It was the weekend. Joong and Dunk didn't have a shoot. But they weren't sure if Joong would leave the Guntithanon compound so they sent Gawin over. When Gawin informed Joong that Dunk was down with fever, he couldn't leave for the Tangsakyuen compound fast enough. It looked traditional, so vastly different from the Guntithanon compound. He started to understand why they still stuck to the old views.

Phuwin cursed the fact that Joong decided to visit Dunk. He wiped Dunk down, applied the industrial grade scent blocker on Dunk, hoping that it will last through his visit. He sprayed down the room with scent neutralizer, hoping that Dunk's scent will disperse. All he could do was pray that Joong didn't find out.

Joong looked at Dunk's bare room, as if he doesn't live here. Dunk looked pale and he was warm to the touch as he grabbed his hand. He was about to reach for the cloth to wipe Dunk down when Phuwin stopped him, telling him that he had just did that before he came. Joong offered to get the clan's doctor to come over since he was the best in town but Phuwin declined saying that a doctor had already visited. He had already given Dunk medication. Joong found Phuwin's reaction a little suspicious but before he could put a finger to it, a few of the elders of the Tangsakyuen clan had entered the room. They were a little too polite to him but he had also saw their look of distain towards Dunk. One of them had tried to wake Dunk up with a rough hand. That's when Joong had enough.

"Stop it! Dunk is under the protection of the Guntithanon clan. You will extend the respect you have for me towards him. He is my bodyguard, so he is an extension of me." Joong rarely use his alpha voice nor his stature to put people in place but it was necessary to remind them who they were dealing with. His sunflower belongs to me. No one gets to hurt him. His iris flashed red for a moment. The elders took the hint and shuffled out of Dunk's room to avoid Joong's wrath. He began to understand Phuwin and Pond's concern for Dunk.

"Phi Joong?" Dunk looked at him with glazed eyes. He tried to wake up but Joong pushed him back down.

"You're sick and you're off duty. Rest" he persuaded Dunk as he tried to argue.

"We need to find out who keeps harming you." Dunk said before he nodded off again. Joong pursed his lips. Dunk was still thinking about work despite being sick.

"Please let Khun Pond know that I'll take him up on his offer." Joong tells Phuwin. 

Chapter 8: Pond takes over

Pond began to understand why Dunk fell sick and started having those recurring nightmare. He was on constant alert. The moment he stepped on set, he was rushed to do make up. He would use that time to memorize his script while keeping an eye on Joong. When they were rehearsing by themselves or with the acting coach, he would scan the place. When they started acting, he would need to improvise to avoid anything that may harm Joong. It shocked Pond that such things happen on set. They really do need to do further planning to overcome the constant threat. Despite all that was going on, he saw Dunk as an actor. The person that Dunk could have been if that tragedy didn't happen. It was a mesmerizing sight to see how he sinks into the character. He took a snippet of it and sent it to Phuwin. 

All the could have, would have, should have.

Dunk sighed on his way back to the Tangsakyuen compound. He finally got to let go of all the stress that he has been holding in for the day.

"Why didn't you tell me it was this bad?" Pond asked as he was driving.

"I wanted to discuss with you and Phi Tang during the weekend but I was down. It's impossible to continue the way that I'm doing. We need a team to secure the set before we begin. I don't think we can avoid diving into the issue. It's either someone on set or someone close to Phi Joong. What are they really after? Are they aiming at Phi Joong as an actor or Phi Joong as the heir to the Guntithanon clan?" Dunk voiced the thoughts that had been running through his head.

"Let's start with where the incidents happen the most, so far it's only on set?" Pond tried to get a better idea of the situation at hand.

"As far as I know. Phi Joong trusts the Guntithanon clan's elite team, there hasn't been any attack on their compound as far as I know." Dunk had gotten reports from Phi Man and Phi Boss, Sarawat's right hand men. 

"Who knows his schedule the best?" Pond thought of the most obvious first. 

"Paaw Jack, but it can't be him. He practically fainted when the first incident happened. It has to be people on set. We'll need to run a background check on the production team. What I'm afraid is it's the part timers that we can't check. We'll just have to eliminate all possibilities until we find the answer" Pond was impressed with Dunk's train of thought. He can see Phuwin's influence on Dunk. He would like to think that his mate would be proud of him.

Joong wasn't happy when Pond informed him of the plan but he relented after understanding the logic behind it. His sunflower was running on fumes, they needed more help. He asks Pond to be discreet which he agrees.

Things were a lot less intense after the plan was in place. Dunk felt like he could breathe again. The progress was much faster on set. Phi Aof was happy either way. As they ended the shooting for the day, Phi Aof called Joong and Dunk over.

"We are making good progress. We'll be starting on the more intimate and kissing scene soon. I understand the circumstances are a little different for both of you. Since Joong, you are technically Dunk's boss. I know you have chemistry but we need the scene to be believable. I need the audience to believe that you are in love. Work on your relationship. Maybe get to know each other beyond this employer employee status." Dunk blushed at Phi Aof's instruction. He looked towards Joong then looked nervously towards Pond. He had forgotten all about intimate scenes. Phi Pond was watching him on set. How was he going to be able to explain to him.

"When will we start shooting intimate scenes?" Dunk asked Phi Aof hoping he has time to explain to Pond and Phuwin together so that Phuwin may calm Pond down.

"Next week, so you have time to build your relationship." Phi Aof encouraged them both. Joong noticed Dunk's nervous glance towards Pond. He's starting to think that Pond holds a parental role in Dunk's life or that he is sort of like a guardian towards Dunk.

How will he convince him to allow Dunk to act in intimate scenes? 

Notes:

A/N: Bear in mind that Joong doesn't know that Dunk is an omega so he doesn't know that Pond is Dunk's alpha guardian. It's kinda a given he would be confused why Dunk would be nervous that Pond might not agree with him shooting intimate scenes. Why would Pond disagree to begin with since Dunk is a beta? that's the thought process for Joong.

Chapter 9: Getting permission

"Son, what are you thinking about?" Tine had noticed that Joong had been distracted the moment he came home.

"Dunk. We'll be shooting intimate scenes next week. I'm getting the vibe that he thinks Pond won't agree. How do I get him to agree?" Tine began to think that his son's feeling for Dunk was deeper than it looked. It almost rivaled Sarawat's behaviour during their courtship.

"tam jing jing, luuk(tell me honestly, son). What is Dunk to you?" Tine needed to know what he is up against if he wanted to prioritize his son's best interest.

"He's my sunflower, Pa. The one I've been looking for. I found him, I finally found him!" Tine saw the excitement in his eyes. Why did he have to fall in love with a beta? Tine thought sadly.

"You are sure he's it? You said he was a late bloomer 7 years ago. How can you know he's your true mate?" Tine hope that that was a room for change in thought. 

"I'm sure, Pa. I've never been so sure in my life." Tine saw the determination in Joong's eyes. There was no way he can dissuade him. He is his father's son after all. He can only blame Sarawat for this. Tine sighed.

"I'll invite them over for dinner. Maybe with Khun Phuwin by Khun Pond's side, it'll be easier to get it over with. I'll like to know Dunk a little better as well." Joong couldn't hold in his excitement as he hugged Tine.

Pond and Phuwin noticed how nervous Dunk was but chose to keep quiet as he gathered the courage to tell them. Pond jumped up from his seat when Dunk mentioned intimate scenes.

"Dunk Natachai!" Dunk winced when Pond shouted his name.

"I will have to agree with Pond on this one. It's a bad idea, Dunk." Phuwin being the sound of reason

"But there's no way I can get out of it. It's too late into the production to find a replacement and the contract we signed..." Phuwin grimaced at that.

"He's an alpha, Dunk! If he so much as gets a whiff of your scent..." Pond sighed in frustration.

"Not to mention the implication of this. It's going to be televised. How will you explain to your true mate when you find him?" No alpha will take it kindly.

"I don't plan to mate. No one will take in a rogue omega kindly as it is. I heard that the Khajornborirak clan is kind to all omegas. I'll talk to Taan Tine when all of these dies down" Pond and Phuwin were shocked by Dunk's revelation.

"mai huang (don't worry). It's not going to happen soon. I'll go when everything is stable and you have started your own family." Pond frowned at what Dunk said. He couldn't fathom the idea of Dunk leaving him but before he could object, Phuwin received a call from Tine.

"Yes, yes. Thank you for your invitation, we'll be there tomorrow night." Phuwin ended the call and informed them of Tine's invitation.

"I guess there really is no way out of this." The three of them braced themselves for the dinner with the Guntithanons.

Chapter 10: Dinner with the Guntithanons

Phuwin may be the head of the clan but he was down to earth and a man of simple taste compared to the Guntithanons. Dunk had never really seen such luxury. He looked towards Phuwin for guidance and mirrored his every move.

"There really is no easy way to word this. I've been told that Joong and Dunk will be having intimate scenes for their series." Sarawat started. Phuwin and Pond grimaced at that.

"I can't help but say that my mate and I are a little worried on how that may affect Dunk's future, especially when it comes to relationship." Phuwin started out with a polite smile. Joong had wanted to shout that they wouldn't need to worry because Dunk will be his. But he held it in knowing that his Paaw would have his hind for such disrespectful behaviour.

"Khun Phuwin, you wouldn't need to worry. Dunk has the Guntithanon name to back him up. We will not let Dunk be affected by this. I'll send you a list of available bachelors or bachelorettes  for your approval and Dunk to pick according to his liking." Joong glared at his Pa. He may understand the need to sooth Pond and Phuwin's worry but he couldn't help the uncurrent jealousy that brew within him. He took in a deep breath to calm his inner alpha.

They moved to an easy conversation from then on. The ice was broken when they got to know that Pond, Phuwin and Joong were actually of the same age. Pond had once attended the same university as Joong.

"I used to study biomedical engineering. Dunk would usually wait for me after school. I have no idea how he spends his time at the university." Pond laughed while Dunk smiled. It couldn't be wrong then. Joong thought.

"The university garden is beautiful, Pond. You can spend hours getting lost in it." Joong commented. He saw a flash of recognition in Dunk.

"I used to spend hours there. There was a kid who shared the same interest as me. We would spend hours talking about everything and anything." Dunk tilted his head, looking at Joong in confusion.

"Did you mean to tell me I paid your fees for you to stare at flowers?" Sarawat huffed.

"I studied performing arts, Paaw. I need to observe people and everything around me. It's part of the course." Joong defended himself. Dunk was stunned at that revelation. His dream flashed across his mind.

"You would have graduated at the same time as Joong then. Your parents would be proud." Tine tried to pull the conversation back to Pond.

"Oh, I didn't. Something happened, so there was a change in plans." Pond wore a forced smile.

"Speaking of parents, how did you become Dunk's appointed guardian?" Sarawat asked. Dunk dropped his spoon. It looked as if he was hyperventilating.

"Please excuse us." Pond guided Dunk away from the table. Joong had wanted to chase after them but Tine's pointed look stopped him.

"Please excuse my mate's crass question. He puts his foot in his mouth sometimes" Tine glared at Sarawat. Sarawat suddenly found his food really interesting.

"Mai bpen rai (it's okay)." Phuwin smiled politely.

"Do you know what happened?" Joong was too curious to keep quiet.

"Jing jing leow, phom mei ruu na khup(I don't know actually). But suffice to say it's traumatic to the both of them that even my mate finds it difficult to tell." Phuwin sighed. Joong looked towards the direction that Pond and Dunk left.

Dunk breathed in the night air, taking in the view of the garden of the Guntithanon clan house. The balcony offered a good view of it. He had asked Pond to give him some space to quiet his thoughts. It had been 7 long years but the memory still fresh in his mind. He heard footsteps walking towards him. He saw Joong took a seat beside him on the bench. He didn't say anything at first. He slowly pointed towards the garden, telling him what flowers were planted. He told him of the view during sunrise, how the sun would cast a golden hue across the garden. Dunk could imagine how beautiful it would be. A smile graced his face.

"You look good in a smile. Smile more, my sunflower." Dunk's eyes widen at that nickname.

"Phi Den?" he whispered. Joong hugged him.

"You remember, my sunflower. You remember! I thought I lost you! I thought I lost you. Never again, my sunflower. I will never lose you again." Joong clutched Dunk tightly in his embrace, a hand behind his head, another on his waist. They heard Phuwin calling to Dunk, saying that it's time to leave. Joong puts a sunflower keychain in Dunk's hand, reminding Dunk to smile more as he held his chin.

Dunk had a hard time digesting what happened. He sat there as Joong walked away. Phuwin had noticed their interaction. He had saw that hug. He sighed, afraid that Dunk will be up for a heart break.

"Whatever you do, Dunk. Don't fall for him. That alpha will never be yours." Phuwin warned Dunk.

 

Chapter 11: Interlude: Phi Den and his sunflower

Dunk had met Joong by happenstance. He had seen a flower pot that was about to fall. It was heading directly towards Joong. He had pushed him aside, pinning him to the pillar as the flower pot crashed on impact. When Joong's eyes met Dunk's, it was as if time had stopped. He had not seen anyone so beautiful. He had wondered what a high school student was doing on university ground. No one had dared to interact with him since the day he entered university. The Guntithanon name strikes fear in everyone he meets. But this kid had not only saved him but had asked if he was alright, with great concern. He pulled him towards the bench, checked him thoroughly, and gave him water.

Joong sought him out every day from then on. His presence was a breath of fresh air in the oppressive environment that he was in. That cheerful and innocent disposition of Dunk was what Joong looked forward to everyday. It was an addiction to Joong.

Dunk enjoyed Joong's excitement when he tells him stories. His excitement rivals the energy of a golden retriever. He had learnt a lot from his interaction with Joong. There was endless possibility in the imaginative world that Joong introduced him to. The university garden became their meeting point. The flowers bore witness to their budding relationship. Joong became Dunk's Phi Den, as Dunk became Joong's sunflower.

It all came to a halt when Dunk didn't appear at their usual spot. Joong had started to wonder. A day became a week, a week became a month, a month became a year. Joong had mourned the lost of his sunflower but he vowed to find him.

He will never let his sunflower out of his sight ever again.   

Chapter 12: Parents' Concern

"Bunny, don't be angry. I needed to know Dunk's background looking at our son's infatuation with him." Sarawat pleaded to Tine. Tine huffed.

"But something does feel really odd with Pond and Phuwin... It may not be as hopeless as we think it is." Tine was deep in thought.

"What do you mean?" Sarawat was curious at this point.

"Hypothetically... say your son is acting in an intimate scene with an alpha. Would you be more concerned about your son's future relationship if he was a beta or an omega? Would you be concerned at all if he is a beta?" Tine voiced out the thoughts in his head. 

"It wouldn't matter if he is a beta. But if he is an omega, his true mate might not accept him." Sarawat's eyes widen at this possibility.

"If my hunch is right, how do feel about Dunk being an omega?" Tine asked his mate as he is currently Joong's bodyguard.

"Finally, someone who can put Joong in his place. And a strong omega at that. Did you see how he put down the elite team?" Sarawat's said in wonder.

"Imagine rubbing that in the elders face that an omega best the elite team." Tine snickered.

"We better act fast before the Tangsakyuen clan decides to arrange a mating for him" Sarawat suddenly panicked.

"Mai huang (don't worry). He's already protected under the Guntithanon name. They would need to run through us if they want to arrange anything. If not, we can always ask Khajornborirak clan for support. You know my cousin, Phi Meen will always be willing to help an omega in need" Tine dispersed Sarawat's worry.

Sarawat breathed a sigh of relief. Finally, someone who can handle that spoiled child of his. The issue left is the threat made against his son.

Chapter 13: Reacquainted

There was some issue with the equipment on set, so Phi Aof had decided to resume shooting in the afternoon. It gave Joong and Dunk plenty of time to catch up with each other. It was as if the years apart didn't make a difference. They were able to pick off at where they left 7 years ago. Joong had updated Dunk on the things that happened in his life since he disappeared. Dunk was so absorbed in Joong's narrative, laughing and nodding along with him. Phi Aof had not seen Dunk so at ease nor had he seen Joong so excited in the years that he had known him. He had not seen him laugh, a real laugh in the time that he had known Joong. His eyes sparkled as if the darkness has been lifted. Their chemistry on set was different. It seems as if the barrier between them were lifted. One part of their body will always be connected to the other- be it a light touch of the finger, a bump on the shoulder or knocking their knees together. It seemed they can't keep away from each other. It definitely helped the series as their scenes get more and more intimate with each shot.

Dunk remembered Phuwin's warning but finds it hard to keep away from his Phi Den. He promised himself once the filming was done or once Joong finds his mate, he will leave. He will take what he can for now, savouring every moment he has with Joong.

Joong was glad to know that his sunflower was still there. Though that light within him was not as bright as it was 7 years ago, it was still there. He sees it whenever he makes him laugh. It was like music to his ear, so he tried harder and made sure he laugh more often.

Force, a fun and light hearted alpha, had taken over Pond's place as his bodyguard. Pond still finds it hard to watch Dunk shoot intimate scenes with Joong. When Force's mate, Book went into labour, Ohm took over. It was difficult to fight the jealousy within him when he saw how Dunk interacted with him. He was the same age as Dunk. They constantly teased each other and have play fights together. He felt like he had to fight for Dunk's attention when Ohm was around. It wasn't until they had to go to Chiang Khan for a shoot, and Dunk asked if Ohm could bring his mate, Leng, that he could finally breathe.

Joong couldn't wait to spend more time with Dunk in Chiang Khan.

Chapter 14: How do you make a kiss look good?

Dunk was shocked to find out that he will be rooming with Joong when they reached Chiang Kian. He couldn't in good conscience ask to room with Leng. Ohm had mentioned how he was looking forward to have some time with Leng. Joong would find it suspicious. He could only pray that Joong doesn't find out.

Joong found it strange that Dunk would never shower in their room. He claimed that he trained with Ohm and Leng before starting the day so he decided to shower at their room. Somehow, he would shower there before the night ends. It's strange but he wasn't bothered by it. As long as he gets to spend time with Dunk. As long as Dunk is in his arms by the end of the night. Though there was two beds in the room, Joong would somehow end up in Dunk's bed. They would either be busy rehearsing their lines or they talked till they fall asleep exhausted. Dunk would always gravitate towards him. Although Joong's inner alpha felt irritated that he couldn't scent his mate, Joong would still hug Dunk to sleep with a smile on his face.

"How should we kiss to look good on camera?" Dunk's eyes widen at Joong's question as they went through the script on their bed. Dunk's cheeks flamed at the thought of it but there really was no escaping. They should get comfortable with the idea of kissing each other before they get on set. He didn't expect Joong to kiss his forehead nor had he expected his next question. 

When he asked if he could kiss him, Dunk had stared at Joong, looking for his answer. He shove the thoughts within his mind and channeled the confidence of his character Sun. He dived in for a quick peck on his lips with a suave "of course" 

When Joong dived down for a slow passionate kiss, Dunk couldn't help but feel a spark within him. Joong stopped himself as he felt his inner alpha taking over. His inner alpha roared in rage at being denied his pleasure but Joong was afraid that it was too fast too soon.

"Let's stop here tonight. But we'll need to practice more before we get on set." Joong puts his script away as he turned in for the night.

Dunk's heart was thumping. The omega within him whined when they stopped kissing. He began to understand why Phuwin said this was bad idea. He would need to keep his inner omega in check the next time. 

Chapter 15: The fine line between acting and reality

"Do you love me?" Win(Joong) asked Sun (Dunk). Both of them were laying on the bed. He was facing Sun (Dunk), supporting his head with his arm.

"I don't know what love is. If wanting you to be the first person I see in the morning... If wanting you to be the last person I greet at night... If wanting to spent every breathing moment with you is love, then I love you." Sun (Dunk) caressed Win's (Joong) face. Win(Joong) leaned into his touch.

"Then... may I claim ownership over you?" Win (Joong) asked before kissing Sun's (Dunk) palm. Sun (Dunk) leaned forward to claim his kiss. Win (Joong) deepened it as he unbuttoned Sun's (Dunk) shirt. He chased after Sun's (Dunk) lips as they untangled themselves from the top they were wearing. Win (Joong) slowly kissed his way down Sun's (Dunk) neck as his hands explored his chest. Sun (Dunk) couldn't help but moan at the sensation.

"CUT! CUT!" Phi Aof shouted as Joong was about to kiss Dunk's scent gland. Joong broke out of the trance he was in. He hadn't noticed his inner alpha taking over. It shocked Joong. He laughed to cover his anxiety building within him. Dunk had laughed along.

"You didn't want to stop, did you? Did you hear how many times have I told you to stop?" Phi Aof huffed

"I didn't hear cut, Phi Aof" Joong giggled. Dunk was still pinned underneath him. Joong quickly got up before his inner alpha gets a different idea. Dunk quickly puts his shirt back on. Joong moaned internally at the lost of the enticing sight of Dunk's chest. His combat training showed. He was lean yet well built, not bulky like most alpha were.

Ohm and Leng came over. "Sap maak (so hot)" Ohm teased Dunk. Dunk punched his arm playfully.

"Ai sut (hey, you animal)! Respect your mate." He reprimanded.

"Ohoo~~ I agree with him." Leng giggled. Dunk blushed. Joong began to understand the friendship among the three of them. He was glad that his sunflower had built some friendship despite the trauma that he went through. He was still curious about it but find it difficult to ask, the sight of his fear, of him hyperventilating forever ingrained in his mind.

Chapter 16: a sudden threat

On the last day of the shooting in Chiang Khan, the crew decided to have a BBQ party. To celebrate their time in Chiang Khan as well as to celebrate the end of the project. Dunk can't believe it's been 4 months. He can't believe how quiet it has been after the consecutive attacks on Joong during the first two months. Things had quiet down after Pond was involved. All the background check that they did on the crew had come back clean. It was peculiar indeed. Dunk had wanted to ask Joong when it all started but with their hectic schedule, he decided to wait until they were done with the shooting. It would be best to dive deeper into the issue once they return to Bangkok. Dunk broke out of his thought when he saw Joong looking around as if he was searching for something.

"bpen alai reu bpao (is something wrong), Phi Den?" he asked.

"I can't seem to find my phone." Joong continued to look around.

"Maybe you left it at the dressing table. I'll go get it." Dunk remembered seeing Joong playing around with it when they had their make up done for the last scene.

As Dunk walked in, he noticed things weren't right. There were 4 men dressed in black. Their eyes widen when they saw Dunk. One of them lunged forward with a knife in his hand. He disarmed him easily and snapped his neck. The other three were shocked by his action. One of them decided to pull a gun on him. Dunk used the body of the first attacker as his shield as he rushed towards him. The second attacker was shocked when the gun was no longer in his hand. Dunk had shot down two of the attackers. The last attacker slammed him with a chair. The gun was thrown across the floor. They circled around each other as the last attacker held a combat knife. He was trying to find an opening to attack Dunk. Dunk was waiting for an opportunity to disarm him.

"Dunk!" Joong shouted when he opened the door. That moment of distraction was all the attacker needed as he sliced through Dunk's arm. But Dunk was able to take control of the situation after, pinning him to the ground. He held the knife to his neck.

"Who sent you?!" Dunk demanded for answers but all the attacker did was laughed. Foam was seen coming out of his mouth. He had killed himself. It was common for mercenary to plant a poison pill within one of their teeth. 

Things may not be as simple as it seemed. Dunk thought. 

Joong was shouting at Dunk to get medical help but he was too focused on finding out who these people were. He lifted up the sleeve of one of the attackers and saw the tattoo.

 

Mondschein. That was the name that came to Dunk as he stared at the tattoo in recognition.

"Dunk! You are bleeding. You need help!" Joong's eyes pleaded to Dunk. Dunk let himself be dragged away while asking Ohm to search the attackers for further evidence.

Joong looked at Dunk as the doctor attending to his wound. Dunk's face expressionless, as if a wound this deep is but a common occurrence to him. It was during times like this that he realized that his sunflower was no longer the innocent kid that he met at the university garden but the bodyguard that he hired from the Tangsakyuen clan.

"How do you feel, Dunk? Jep mai (Does it hurt)?" Joong asked in concern.

"Mai huang(don't worry), Phi Den. It's only a small wound. I'm okay. Dtae (But)... I got a question. When did all these attacks started?" Dunk could no longer sit still.

"Jing jing leow a (actually), they all started about the time when I first met you. It was always something small and unassuming. Like that flower pot that you save me from. But they have gotten bolder since I've gained fame." Dunk nodded his head, so they were targeting Joong as the heir of the Guntithanon clan then since it's been going on for so long. But it seemed that they have a deeper grudge against Joong than what it seemed on the surface.

"I will need to speak to Khun Paaw and Pa when we get home. I don't think it's as simple as we think." Sarawat and Tine had asked Dunk dropped the formality. Tine was insistent that Dunk calls him Pa as how Joong would address him. Joong beamed internally when he heard how Dunk addressed his parents. If only he could drop the Khun in front of Paaw, that will be ideal. Dunk couldn't bring himself to call Sarawat, Paaw since he is the clan alpha, so Khun Paaw it was.

Ohm had informed Dunk that there was nothing on them. The tattoo was all they could go on with. He would have to report this to Phuwin and Pond first before going to Sarawat and Tine- eliminating the Mondschein threat was the priority, while finding out who would benefit from taking the next clan alpha out of the way.

Dunk looked towards Joong. He hoped that he will find his answers soon before someone takes Phi Den's life.

Chapter 17: Digging

"You fools! Now he knows Mondschein is behind the attacks!" He was fuming. It was supposed to be a clean attack. Take Joong out and the position as clan alpha will be his. He had wanted to humiliate him at first, letting him lose his career and fame but that damn Dunk Natachai came into the picture. He will have to get rid of the Mondschein first and find another way to rid of Joong Archen Guntithanon.

Dunk had reported back to Phuwin and Pond regarding Mondschein's involvement. Phuwin had started to put a plan in place- tracking their latest activities and finding their base. Pond had noticed that Dunk was injured, he saw the knife wound and the large bruise forming at his back when he took off his shirt. Pond had attended to his wound quietly, rubbing ointment on his bruise next. Dunk didn't make a sound. Sometimes, he missed the innocent wide eye boy. The young child that would whine and cry whenever he had a small wound, asking for hugs and dessert as compensation for the pain that he went through. The Dunk today is unreadable when he is in pain. Pond wished he would find his true mate, or a person who can break through that shell that he has formed around himself.

They were shocked to find that Mondschein has been eliminated. Kenji, Joong's biggest rival in the entertainment industry had committed suicide in his apartment. Dunk, Phuwin and Pond knew it wasn't as simple as it seemed. They had moved forward with Dunk's plan of meeting Sarawat and Tine. They had informed them of the news.

"I'm afraid this is just a cover up." Phuwin stated.

"This might be sensitive information that we are asking, Khun Paaw. But who would benefit from Phi Joong's death? Who is the next in line?" Dunk had no choice but to be straight forward.

"My brother, Dim but he would never do anything to harm my family." Sarawat answered with conviction.

"Sometimes its not what's on the surface." Pond continued.

"Is it possible to grant us an invite to your next clan gathering? Not as Phi Joong's bodyguard but something more subtle" Dunk asked Sarawat.

"We could introduce you as Joong's onscreen partner. We'd like you to know Joong's family. Your series would be aired before the next gathering. With both of you being Dunk's guardian, it's not an issue at all." Tine answered as he looked towards Sarawat who nodded his head. Now all they can do is wait.  

Chapter 18: being in the limelight

While waiting for the clan gathering to come, Dunk had accompanied Joong on promotional tours for the series they shot. Dunk had thought that he is accompanying Joong as his bodyguard. But Joong had reminded him that he is attending the tour as an actor of the series, as his onscreen partner. He had never truly understood the implication of being Joong's onscreen partner. It felt foreign to him when people had clapped and cheered when he introduced himself. It felt weirder to see his name beside Joong on placards or to hears the fans chanting JoongDunk. He was introduced to the concept of ship. The fans were shipping him with Joong.

He had not thought much of how he interacted with Joong. Joong had always been a person who likes skinship. Dunk was used to it since he first met Joong 7 years ago, so he had no qualms when Joong would hug him, rest his chin on his shoulder to see what he was doing on his phone or gave him a sniff kiss on the check. He just lets him do whatever he wanted. What he did not expect was the fans' reaction to their interaction. They were gushing and swooning when they saw them brush their hands or when they sit close to each other. Even more so when Joong held his neck, as if leaning down for a kiss as part of the game. 

Dunk had let it slipped when he had called Joong, Phi Den when they got off stage. He had forgotten that the mic was still on and when they heard the fans scream along with a unified aww-ed. He realized his mistake. Joong gave him a side hug, telling him that it is fine. It stirred the fans further.

Dunk was glad when the tour was over. He wasn't use to the limelight. It had always been just Pond and him. It wasn't until a year or two ago that they met Phuwin and was introduced to the Tangsakyuen clan. There was nothing romantic about the way Pond and Phuwin met. Pond was trying to get help as Dunk went through his first heat. Phuwin was trying to escape his enemy. Pond had helped Phuwin disarm his attackers. Phuwin had helped Dunk through his heat. It wasn't until Dunk recovered from his heat, Pond and Phuwin were too tired and had forgotten about scent blocker, that they knew they were true mates. The rest was history.

Sarawat had informed them that the clan gathering will be held in two days. Dunk sighed. Phuwin decided to bring Dunk and Pond to his favourite ramen shop to unwind before things get hectic. 

A moment of peace before the storm.    

Chapter 19: the Guntithanon clan gathering

Pond may not be as eloquent as Phuwin. He may lack the finesse that Phuwin had been training for as clan leader since young, but Pond had a natural charisma. His easy-going personality allowing him to mingle easily. Dunk had adopted Pond's easy-going character when it came to mingling. He puts people at ease when they talk to him. Joong noticed that he scans how people reacts to him. He also saw how he tried to get a read on the people he meets.

"Phi Dim! Come meet Dunk, Joong's onscreen partner." Sarawat called his brother over. Dunk wai-ed politely.

"ohoo~~ suuay maak (so beautiful). Our Joong is so lucky. This is my mate Green and our son Poom." Dunk had wai-ed politely towards them as well. Dunk had felt a strange vibe coming off Poom. His eyes lingered a little too longer as he stared at him.

"I'm glad Aa (Uncle) invited you. You look so much better in person. I'm a fan of yours." He reached out for a handshake but Joong came over, stopped Dunk and wrapped his arm around him.

"I think that won't be necessary." Joong glared at Poom. It was the first time Dunk had seen Joong overtly display dislike towards a person. There seemed to be a history between them.

There was nothing much to go on on, apart from Joong's dislike towards Poom.

"Phi Den, why don't you like Phi Poom?" Dunk asked curiously.

"I don't like the way he was staring at you. Don't get too close to him. He's not a good person" Joong's inner alpha was in rage when he saw the way Poom looked at Dunk, as if trying to undress him on sight. Poom had always played dirty but no one realizes the mask that he wears.

"I think we need to dig further into Phi Poom, Lung (Uncle) Dim's son. There seems to be a history between him and Phi Joong." Dunk informed Phuwin and Pond. Phuwin asked his subordinate to do a background check on him.

"That's all the lead I have tonight, nothing seems to be amiss." Pond and Phuwin agreed that they didn't notice anything weird going on within the Guntithanon clan. It was like finding a needle in the hay stack. 

 

Chapter 20: waking up from a dream

"That should have been me! That should have been me!" Mai threw the magazine at the TV screen as she saw Dunk standing beside Joong as they not only bagged the award for most popular series, but also the best couple award.

 

"You were the one who was afraid for her life, saying that acting with Joong Archen Guntithanon is a curse." Sammy said while checking her nails.

"I can always bag him as a mate. I'm an omega after all. That Dunk is only a beta. I just need to create a moment with him" Mai adjusted her top and smiled coyly. Sammy rolled her eye.

Dunk helped Joong with his coat. Joong unbuttoned a few of the button of his shirt. Dunk smacked his hand away when he reaches for the fourth button.

"That is quite enough." Joong grinned at Dunk's comment. They left the hotel room that Joong booked. He would most likely get drunk by the end of the after party, this was a safer option.

Joong had made sure Dunk stuck to him during the start of the party. This really wasn't Dunk's usual scene. Dunk was more introverted by nature. The place was too loud with too many people. It was lucky that he wasn't the only one on duty tonight, Khun Paaw had sent a few personnel from the elite team tonight. They were more familiar with Joong's events, knowing what to cover.

Joong had ushered Dunk on stage to sing and danced along to the music. Dunk was only able to tolerate a few minutes of it before feeling the need to go down. 

Joss a fellow co-actor in their series had come over to speak to Dunk as he got down from the stage. 

Mai saw her opening.

When Joong noticed Dunk being rather intimate with Joss, his inner alpha raged with jealousy. He got down from the stage heading towards Dunk. Mai had intercepted, bumping into Joong, twisting her ankle in the process. Her 8-inch heels did make it believable. Joong had supported her to his room. He ran out to get an ice pack for her. Mai took the opportunity to prepare herself as she wiped off her scent blocker.

When Dunk noticed that Joong had disappeared from stage, he panicked. He checked in with the elite team and got to know that Joong had gone back to his room. When he opened the door, the strong floral scent of an omega greeted his nose. He was shocked to see Mai in a bathrobe.

"Oh hi, you must be Dunk. Joong had told me so much about you. I hope you don't mind if Joong and I spend some alone time together tonight." She hinted at Dunk. Dunk forced a small smile and walk out of the room. He took the lift down. He sighed as he reached the entrance of the hotel.

He should have known the day would come but he didn't expect it to be this soon. He didn't expect it to hurt.

Don't fall for him. Phuwin's warning rang in his mind.

He didn't know when he fell for Phi Den. Perhaps it was the acting, the many intimate scenes that they had. Perhaps it was the way Phi Den interacted with him, with how close they were. There really wasn't much boundary between them. He didn't expect himself to fall for him but yet he did anyways.

That alpha will never be yours.

Phuwin's words echoed in his mind. He sighed. Since Joong had found his mate, it's time for him to leave. He called Phuwin to inform him of the situation. It would be difficult for him to continue to be beside Joong and it would be messy since he was his onscreen partner. Phuwin told him that he'd be sending Ohm to take over his duty.

"How are you going back? Do you need the car?" Ohm asked when he reached.

"I'll be returning the car to the Guntithanon clan house. Take good care of Phi Den." Ohm nodded, patting Dunk on the shoulder before heading towards Joong's room.

Chapter 21: reality hits

Joong's eyes watered at the pungent floral omega scent when he opened the door.

"What the hell!" Joong tried to cover his nose as he walked into the room. Every fiber in his body rejecting the scent.

"Alpha~" Mai called out seductively, putting her arms around him. He was shocked to see her in a bathrobe.

"Get your dirty paws off me!" Ohm rushed into the room when he heard Joong shouted. His eyes widen, realizing that Joong didn't need help. He apologized and backed out of the room.

"Dieow gorn (wait a minute)! Why are you here? Where is Dunk?" Joong looked at Ohm in confusion.

"I'm here to replace Dunk indefinitely." Ohm said grimly. Ohm was confused when Phuwin asked him to take over Dunk's duty as Joong's bodyguard. He was even more confused by Dunk's dejected and heartbroken look. But the scene that just greeted him answered it all. He had witnessed how his friend had slowly fall in love. He saw how he came out of his shell. He had thought that his friend had finally found happiness but it all went up in smoke.

Joong was shocked by this sudden new arrangement. He looked towards Mai. She had a seemingly innocent smile but he has been in this industry long enough to know what is real and what is fake. Dunk must have been to the room.

"What did you say to Dunk?!" Joong's alpha voice booming.

"That we needed some time alone..." Mai's voice trembled. His iris flashed red. He tried to get a hold of his inner alpha. He will deal with her later. He needed to find Dunk. He can't lose his sunflower again.

"Phi Mil, get her out of my sight!" He called out to the Guntithanon elite team.

"Ohm, where is Dunk? Bring me to him." Joong pleaded.

"He said he'll be returning the car to Guntithanon clan house. I'll drive you back." They rushed towards Ohm's car. 

Joong hoped that he is in time.

Chapter 22: saying good-bye

Sarawat and Tine were shocked to see Dunk alone. He passed back the car key to Sarawat.

"I have to apologize Khun Paaw, Pa. I won't be able to continue my duty as Phi Joong's bodyguard anymore." He wai-ed towards the both of them. 

"Why?" Tine couldn't begin to understand what happened.

"I don't want to mess up Phi Joong's relationship with his mate. It would be best if I leave. I can't begin to thank you for how the both of you have been treating me as your son." He was about to get down on his knees to wai at their feet before Sarawat stopped him. Sarawat and Tine really couldn't begin to understand what Dunk meant but it would be meaningless to push for an answer without their son present.

"So, we won't be seeing you again? Can I still go over to the Tangsakyuen compound to see you?" Tine asked as he hugged him. Although he thinks it was a mistake and his son would never think of having a mate other than Dunk, he really does see Dunk as his son. He wanted to make sure he would be okay.

"I don't plan to stay at the Tangsakyuen compound for the moment." He really doesn't want Phi Den to be finding him.

"Would you like to visit Khajornborirak clan then? A new environment to clear your mind?" Tine tried to persuade. Dunk couldn't believe his ears at what Tine offered. He nodded.

"I can arrange someone to drive you over tomo-" Before Tine could even finish, Dunk had interjected.

"Can it be tonight?" Dunk pleaded. Tine's eyes soften. Sarawat called Man over to give Dunk a lift.

Dunk looked back as the view of Guntithanon clan house got smaller and smaller.

"La gorn (good bye), Phi Den." As Dunk said goodbye to his first love, saying goodbye to Win as Sun, saying goodbye to all possible relationship between them.

Chapter 23: I can't wait

Sarawat and Tine wrinkled their nose at the omega scent that lingered on Joong as he rushed through the door.

"I see what Dunk meant" Tine covered his nose. That omega had basically scent marked Joong.

"Where is he?!" Joong was panicking. The clan house was empty except for his parents. His heart clenched at the possibility of losing his sunflower.

"He sends his blessing to you and your new mate. He won't be coming back because he is afraid of causing trouble on your new mating." Sarawat observed his son's reaction at the news. He saw the frustration and despair in his son's eyes.

"I don't have a mate. It was a setup!" Tine sighed at that. He knew something wasn't right.

"He's heading towards Khajornborirak clan." Joong was glad that they knew where Dunk was heading. He couldn't help but wanted to rush towards his sunflower. But before Joong could leave, Tine stopped him.

"Stop right there! You think he'll want to meet you with that scent mark?! Wait until the scent mark is gone before you find him. Scrub yourself while you're at it" Joong could heard the annoyance in his Pa's voice before they left him to his thoughts. 

He slammed the door to his bedroom. Joong was as frustrated as his inner alpha. He wanted to destroy his room as much as his inner alpha to release his anger and frustration but he knew that would not help. He scrubbed himself hard before heading to bed hoping that would quicken the process but he knew that the scent mark wouldn't be gone until morning. 

He stared at the ceiling as he waited for sleep to come. He wanted to tear at the prospect of losing his sunflower. His inner alpha huffed at his thoughts. He demanded that they get their mate back no matter what it takes. He was right. He can't give up. He won't give up! His inner alpha hummed in agreement. He closed his eyes as he waited for morning to come. 

Wait for me, my sunflower.

Chapter 24: the Khajornborirak clan

"I apologize Clan Alpha, Clan Omega for arriving at your compound this late." Dunk wai-ed towards Meen and Ping. Ping was all smiles and sunshine. He had clapped excitedly when he saw Dunk.

"I'm a fan of yours. I really love your series." Dunk was shy at his compliment.

"The way cousin Tine described you, I got a sense that you are omega more than a beta. And now that I'm seeing you in person... I can't help but think its not an imagination." Meen spoke as he observed Dunk.

"I can't lie to you, Clan Alpha. The Guntithanons do not know. I would like to seek refuge at your compound." Dunk began to explain his status as a rogue omega, how he became Joong's bodyguard and his current predicament. He is unable to stay with the Guntithanon clan nor can he stay at the Tangsakyuen compound. Ping looked at Meen with pleading eyes after hearing Dunk's story. Meen shook his head while ruffling Ping's hair.

"We more than welcome you. Your skills are an asset to the Khajornborirak clan. Prem will guide you to your room." Dunk wai-ed towards Meen and Ping, thanking them. Prem had guided him to his room, giving him a change of clothes since Dunk came to the compound with just the clothes on his back.

He texted Pond and Phuwin so that they weren't worried about him. His room was clean, and homey. He sighed and hope for a better day tomorrow as he began his new life here.

Joong took a second shower in the morning, hoping that the scent mark is gone. He saw Ohm waiting in the living room.

"Yes, yes. It's gone. You can put on your scent blocker now. You need to work on that anxiety of yours." Ohm covered his nose.

"You try staying calm when your mate ran away!" Ohm's eyes widen at Joong's confession.

"You are serious about Dunk?" Ohm asked as he drove.

"More than serious. He's it for me." Joong said with conviction. He couldn't wait to reach Khajornborirak clan

He grinned. He couldn't believe what happened. It was even better than what he planned. The Moon Goddess must be helping him. This is the perfect opportunity to get rid of Joong Archen Guntithanon.

Chapter 25: Fighting for their lives

"Dunk! Dunk!" Joong called out as he slammed the car door shut. Meen stopped him.

"Joong Archen Guntithanon! Control yourself! You may be the heir of the Guntithanon clan but this is not the Guntithanon compound. You will behave!" Meen's commanding voice stopped Joong in his track.

"Let me speak to Dunk, please Loong (Uncle)" Joong looked at Meen with pleading eyes. Meen sighed looking at his state of dishevel.

"He's in town getting supplies. They'll probably be at the grocery shop right now." Joong snatched the keys from Ohm, leaving Ohm behind as he drove off to find Dunk.

Dunk had fun getting to know Boun and Prem. They were an interesting couple. Their dynamic was sort of like Pond and Phuwin but they act sort of like Ohm and Leng. He felt like he was home. He wondered how Phi Den was currently. He shook his head trying to get rid of the thought. He's here to forget about him, he reminded himself before going back to his task. He looked down at the list of things that they were supposed to get. When he looked up, he wondered if he wasn't trying hard enough to forget Phi Den. There he stood, looking disheveled and tired at the same time. He couldn't understand why he would conjure such an image of him.

"Dunk..." Joong rushed forward to hug him. Dunk's eyes widen when he realized that it wasn't his imagination.

"Hey!" Boun was about to pull them apart before Prem stopped him.

"Leave them alone, BB. We still have supplies to get ." Prem dragged Boun away.

Dunk missed the warmth of Joong's hugs but he knew he shouldn't. So, he pushed Joong away.

"You shouldn't be here. Your mate wouldn't like it." He said coldly as he collected the items on the list.

"I don't have a mate. She sprained her ankle. I brought her to the room. That's all. I didn't know she had her own agenda." He desperately willed Dunk to believe him.

"Even if I were to believe you. It's just a matter of time before you need to find your own mate. Having me is an inconvenience in your relationship. No mate of yours will accept my existence." He grabbed the purchase after paying the cashier. Joong snatched it over, leading Dunk to the car. He strapped Dunk in.

"I don't need any mate. I only need you." Joong said firmly as he started driving.

"Phi Joong... be serious. You are the heir of the Guntithanon clan. You'll need to find a clan omega." Joong's heart dropped when Dunk lost the term endearment that was reserved for him.

"Don't call me that! Please Dunk, I'm always your Phi Den. That will never change." Joong reached out a hand to Dunk while the other was on the steering wheel. But Dunk's mind was on something else.

"Dieow gorn (wait a minute), did you come alone? Did Khun Paaw have the elite team follow you or did Phi Tang arrange a security team for you?" Dunk noticed that a few cars had been following them for a while.

"No, I came with Ohm but I left him at the Khajornborirak compound." Joong noticed what Dunk was seeing.

"Whose car is this?" He didn't have any weapon on him but if this was Ohm's car, they may have a chance.

"Ohm's" Dunk dove to the backseat, pushed down one of the seats to access the weapons that Ohm usually store at the trunk of the car. He grabbed a few that would be useful to him.

"Get up the highway. We need to get out of city limits. We don't want to hurt any civilian." Dunk instructed. Joong followed accordingly. Once they hit the highway, Dunk shot the rear window. He positioned his rifle, targeting the drivers of the cars. One of the cars veered off the road. He targeted the next car. A bullet flew past him. He decided to cut his losses, threw a hand grenade at them. The car exploded.

Joong's anxiety rose as he heard gun shots and loud blasts from behind. He had no control and he was afraid for Dunk's safety. His inner alpha felt frustrated that he wasn't protecting his mate. It was only when Dunk came back to the front seat that his heart started to calm down.

"We can't go back to the Khajornborirak compound. We don't know if there are still others." He couldn't afford to bring danger to his new home. It was then that he realized the road leads to the small house that Pond and him used to stay when they were roaming around. He gave Joong the direction, asking him to stop the car a few miles away from it. He didn't want their attackers to know where they were heading. He carried a backpack loaded with weapons. He passed two Glocks to Joong. He grabbed the food they bought. Joong offered to carry it for him. He checked his phone but it was dead. He asked Joong for his but it was dead as well. There was no way to call for back up. They were on their own. He hoped that Pond knows where to find them.

Chapter 26: Truth revealed

Ohm was getting anxious at this point. When Boun and Prem came back without them, Ohm felt that something wasn't right. There still wasn't any news from Joong or Dunk by the evening. He couldn't get them through their phone. He had to report back to Phuwin when they didn't come back the next day. He could only hope that he was just overthinking.

They tracked their way to the house. Dunk made sure they didn't leave any trails behind. Dunk dropped the backpack on the dining table once they reached the house. It was relatively clean. He was shocked to find food in the cupboards, the electricity and water was running well. It seemed that Pond had been maintaining the house. Most likely using it for his rut or Phuwin's heat. His eyes widen at that thought. He had totally forgotten in his adrenaline to escape. He didn't have his scent blocker or his suppressants with him. He won't be able to escape his heat. With Joong in close quarters, it would be a disaster. He closed his eyes as he took a shuddering breath.

"Phi Den, do you know how to shoot?" Joong was confused at his question but he nodded anyway. He did go through some training for a film that he shot.

"Good, shoot at anyone you don't recognize. I'm sorry, Phi Den but I need to leave you here. It's safer that way." Joong was confused with Dunk's new plan.

"Why? It's safer for the both of us to be together. It's not safe for you to be out there alone." Dunk closed his eyes. He didn't know how to explain it to Joong without exposing himself.

"I just can't... I can't be with you" Joong couldn't begin to understand what was going through Dunk's mind.

"What are you hiding from me, my sunflower?" he held Dunk's chin, forcing him to look him in the eye. Dunk's resolve crumbled. He couldn't hide it any longer.

"I lied to you, Phi Den...." A single tear rolled down involuntarily. Joong thumbed it away, encouraging Dunk to tell the truth.

"I'm... I'm not a beta." He closed his eyes after telling Joong the truth. He didn't want to know how Joong would respond to his confession. Joong's eyes had widen at his revelation. His inner alpha beamed at the news. He knew his mate is an omega from the start. Joong paid no heed to his inner Alpha. All his focus was on Dunk. He caressed Dunk's cheek.

"Why didn't you tell me? We could hav-" Dunk shook his head.

"You're the heir of the Guntithanon clan. The elders will never let you marry a rogue omega."

"I would rather give up the title than to lose you. You're everything to me." He kissed Dunk, willing him to understand how important he is to him.

"Gu rak meung (I love you)." He whispered as he ends his kiss, leaning his forehead against Dunk.

"Gu rak meung meun gan (I love you too)" Dunk replied with love. Joong held Dunk tightly in his arms with the thought that he can finally move forward with his sunflower.  

 

Chapter 27: Be mine 🔞🔞

Dunk looks at the two wet face towels. 

He is afraid. 

He is afraid to find out that they aren't scent compatible. He is afraid that Phi Den will be disappointed if he isn't his true mate- to have all his dreams crumbling at that exact moment. 

Joong hugs him from behind, putting his arms around his waist.

"No matter what, I will always choose you, my sunflower. My alpha already loves you without scenting you. He knows you are his mate. I know we belong together." Joong gives him the assurance as he gives him a sniff kiss. Dunk passes one towel to Joong.

"We do it together." Joong has his towel over Dunk's scent gland while Dunk has it over Joong's. They gently wipe off the scent blocker that they had applied.

It was then that Joong realized why he had never liked the usual floral and citrusy smell of most omega. His mate's scent was subtle and earthy, with a burst of sunshine. A combination of sunflower, honey and nectarine. A scent that he couldn't get enough as he buried his nose onto Dunk's scent gland. It was the scent of home.

Despite the waves of energy that comes of Phi Den, he had always found him calming, bringing him on endless adventure with his story telling. It was only fitting that he smells like the ocean breeze. A hint of sage with sea salt and an underlying woody musk that could only be described as alpha musk. It couldn't be wrong. Phi Den is his alpha, his true mate. His iris glow in a shade of gold as his omega came forth. "Alpha"

Joong's iris turns red as he heard his true mate, his omega calling him. "omega"

Joong kisses Dunk passionately. He stopped himself, trying to gain back control. He needed Dunk consenting to this, not his omega.

"Dunk, my sunflower. Come back to me." He sees the omega gold fade from Dunk's iris.

"Dunk Natachai, will you be my mate? Will you take my mark?" Dunk nodded with a smile as he kisses him. Joong deepens the kiss. He slides his tongue in, exploring every part of Dunk's oral surface. He lifts Dunk up as they continued kissing. Dunk wraps his legs around his waist. Dunk felt weightless against his alpha strength. Dunk broke the kiss, whispering to his ear that his room is the first room on the right. He playful nibs Joong's earlobe before resume kissing. Joong opens the door without breaking their kiss.

Dunk bounces off the bed as Joong drops him at the foot of the bed. He loses himself in the gaze of his alpha as he backs his way up the bed. Unable to look away as he sees his love, his desire, his lust for him as his alpha crawls towards him. Joong dives in for a kiss as he unbuttons his shirt. His lips slow work its way down his neck. He sucks at his scent gland. Dunk moaned at how sensitive it felt.

Joong pushes Dunk's shirt all the way up to his wrist, trapping his hands above his head. He dives in for another kiss as his hands explored the span of his chest. He twirls Dunk's sensitive bud between his fingers as his lips work his way down his chest. His tongue circles the other before sucking on it. Dunk arches off the bed as his fingers grab onto his shirt scrunched up at his wrist.

"Alpha please..." He doesn't know what he is begging for but Joong releases his wrist and undress the both of them. Dunk presents himself on all four as Joong loses the last of his clothing. Joong's iris flash red for a moment. He wants to savour this moment as himself so he holds his alpha back. Their first time should belong to them, not their alpha and omega. He spread his cheeks open so he has more access to his entrance. He sees slick leaking out of it. He licks it, circling his entrance with his tongue before dipping it in. It was ambrosia to him. "I wish we could stay here forever, just the two of us." Dunk said quietly as he stared into the mirror in front of them. They looked tired but yet happy and so in love.

"I would love to but my parents would be worried. Mai huang na (don't worry). My parents love you like their son so it won't be an issue at all." He laid a kiss to his temple.

"But the elders..."

"They can't deny a true mate's bond. That would be absurd." It's true but it didn't take away the fact that Dunk is a rogue. The Tangsakyuen clan had reluctantly accepted Pond but he is an alpha. The Guntithanon clan is much bigger and influential compared to the Tangsakyuen clan. Dunk don't think their perception towards omega is much better than the elders in the Tangsakyuen clan.

"Phi Den..." Dunk moaned as Joong stroke his shaft to distract him.

"If you have energy to think about all those nonsense in your head, you'll have energy for me." Joong grinned as he slides into his wet heat. He moaned at the sensation. Dunk was still tight despite all that they had done for the last 3 days. He sees Dunk's look of pleasure reflecting back at the mirror.

He pumps waves after waves of cum, filling his mate until there was a small bulge in his lower abdomen. His inner alpha rumbles as he imagines his mate with pup. He hears his omega purr in response. 

Chapter 29: back to reality

Pond and Phuwin finally had some news when they noticed 2 cars with dead bodies in it, there were another two cars that was blown up. Parts were scattered across the highway. They found Ohm's car abandoned a few miles down the road. Pond looked around.

"The safehouse is just 2 miles from here!" He told Phuwin in sudden realization. He hoped that all is well with Dunk. He won't be able to forgive himself if he wasn't.

Joong and Dunk had aired the house, cleaned the sheets and Dunk's room. Dunk had packed a bag of food for their trip back to the Khajornborirak compound. If no one had come finding them, it's safe to assume that the threat was over. They would need to regroup with Pond and Phuwin and figure out how to go forward from here. Dunk sighed as they were about to leave their safe haven. Joong hugged him, whispering words of comfort, letting him know that nothing will change in their relationship.

Dunk slid a combat knife in his boot. He slid two guns in the gun holster by his waist. He puts on his shoulder holster, slid on another 2 guns. Joong can't help but beamed at how badass his omega looked. Dunk puts two gun holster clip on Joong's belt- one to his left and another to his right. He asked Joong to show him how he holds a gun as he passed one to him. Dunk demonstrated once more for his peace of mind. Once they were ready, they opened the door. Dunk was surprised to see Pond and Phuwin at the door. He rushed forward to hug them.

Pond's sense of relief only lasted a minute until he noticed a difference in Dunk's scent. There was an undertone of sage and sea salt that wasn't there before. He pulled his collar and noticed the bite mark. His iris flashed red.

"You claimed him!" Phuwin and Dunk tried to hold him back with much difficulty as he shifted into alpha rage.

"He's my true mate, Phi Pond! He's my true mate!" Dunk shouted. Pond and Phuwin were stunned to learn of this news.

The four of them sat around the dining table. Dunk looked at Pond and Phuwin nervously. Joong clasped his hand, his thumb stroking the back of his hand as he tried to comfort him. He sent calming scent towards his mate, willing him to calm down. He was nervous too as Pond and Phuwin were Dunk's guardian but he had to be strong for his mate.

"I don't like this. I don't like this one bit. What will happen to Dunk when the Guntithanon clan finds out!" Pond finally broke the silence.

"They can't deny a true mate's bond." Joong stated boldly.

"You're naïve, Joong. You're the heir to the Guntithanon clan. You mated without the knowledge of elders. They won't take kindly to this. They will do everything within their means to show the power and control they hold within the clan." Phuwin spoke from his experience as he saw Joong repeating history. Phuwin may be the clan leader but he was oppressed by the elders. Sometimes he wondered if it was because he is an omega and they were actually using Pond as an excuse. Pond clasped his hand as he tried to comfort his mate. They both sighed.

"What's done is done. There's no way around it now. You will go back to the Guntithanon clan house and discuss your approach with your parents. Dunk will go back with us." Phuwin looked sharply at Joong as he spoke. Joong had wanted to protest. They were a newly mated pair. They needed to be with each other.

"There's no two ways about it. You may need to send a few of your clothing with your scent to calm Dunk's omega but we will have to do this right." Pond said firmly. Joong had no choice but to relent.

When they reached the Guntithanon clan house, Joong hugged Dunk. He scent marked him before leaving the car. He watched as they drove out of sight. 

He prayed to the moon goddess to have his mate back in his arms once again. 

Chapter 30: The wait

Sarawat and Tine were elated to know that their son had found his true mate. It was even better to know that it was Dunk. Sarawat had frowned when he knew that they had already mated. It would be a little tricky to deal with the elders but he is known for his temper, so it wouldn't be too big of an issue. They will give in eventually. Sarawat had decided that they will formally introduce Dunk as Joong's mate in two days. It's an understatement to say that Joong was unhappy with the arrangement. He needed to wait for another two more days to be with his mate.

"Jai yen yen (calm down), it's just 2 days compared to a lifetime. Go clean up and gather your clothes for your omega to build a nest. Maybe you can try your luck and see if Pond and Phuwin will allows you to see him when you send it over." Joong thought his Pa was a genius. He did as he was told.

Joong looked on as his mate built his nest on his bed. He was ecstatic when Pond and Phuwin allowed him to see Dunk. It wasn't like there was a choice, Dunk was miserable to say the least. Pond had never witness Dunk sulk this much.

Dunk's inner omega purred as Joong climbs into the nest that he built for them.

"Just two days my sunflower, we'll be together." He whispered as Dunk takes a nap.

An hour before the  gathering at the  Guntithanon clan house...

Dunk looks at the photo of his parents. The only photo that he has of them. He tells them about Joong, about how he found his true mate. He asks for their blessing, praying that all will go well later in the evening. Pond walks in as he teared. He quickly wipes it off.

"Bring that photo with you. Allow yourself to gather strength from them. Phuwin and I will always be beside you just as your parents are in spirit." Pond slides Dunk's family signet on his index finger.

"I think it's time. Wear it proudly. They may be gone but they'll always be with you." Dunk hugs Pond as he reminds him that he once had a clan. He isn't just any rogue omega. He takes a deep breath in as he gets ready. The three of them dressed in black as they head to the Guntithanon clan house.   

Chapter 31: It's time

The three of them were quite a sight when they walked into the Guntithanon clan house. Ohm and Gawin were flanking them. Joong couldn't help but fall in love with his mate all over again. The elders did not know what to make of their presence. Poom had a smirk on his face as he walked in. Joong frowned as he saw Mai walk in behind Poom. Things were not going to be as smooth as he thought. He caught Paaw Jack's gaze and gestured towards her. His face darkened at her sight. Joong whispered to his parents. Sarawat pinched the bridge of his nose. He would have to see what they were playing at.

Sarawat gathered everyone's attention and gestured Dunk over.

"Everyone, I'm glad to announce that my son has found his true mate- Dunk Natachai from the Tangsakyuen clan." Before Sarawat could have a word further, Poom interjected. 

"I'm afraid to disappoint you Aa (Uncle) but nong Joong already has a pup with this omega here." Dim had frowned at his son's action. He was glaring daggers at him while Poom feigned innocence. Mai sashayed forward. Joong wanted to burn her on sight. He looked towards Dunk. He saw Phuwin squeezing Pond's shoulder, making sure he held in his alpha rage and not make a scene. He clasped Dunk's hand in comfort. There was a smirk on his face that Joong couldn't understand.

"I didn't sleep with her. Ohm and Phi Mil can be my witness." Joong casually answered.

"They both saw me in a bathrobe, how could you say that?" She feigned hurt by his statement. Joong had wondered how she advanced in the entertainment industry with such acting skills. He couldn't hold the laugh in. She was confused by his reaction.

"You think I'm new to the industry. I always wear a cam on me. Paaw Jack has the footage. Let's see if I've slept with you." Joong saw the look of frustration on Poom's face. He knew his cousin would play dirty but not to this extend. Everyone had bore witness that nothing had happened between Joong and Mai as they watched the footage. The elite team was about to take her away when Phuwin stopped them.

"I'm afraid to say that she is bearing a Guntithanon pup. Just not Joong's" Everyone gasped at what Phuwin hinted.

"Clan Alpha, I had wanted to bring these matters to you in private but since things are out in the open. I guess it doesn't hurt. We had decided to investigate the threats made against Joong in order to protect him better. It had led to a lot of interesting discovery." Phuwin smiled. He is a clan leader for a reason. He was always prepared before a battle. No one gets to play dirty with Phuwin Tangsakyuen. Phuwin had asked Gawin to hand a huge file to Sarawat.

"Among our search, we had also noticed that Khun Mai had been in contact with Khun Poom. They have been having intimate relationship for months. It's highly likely that the pup that she bears belong to him but a DNA test is always welcome." Dim's eyes widen at Phuwin's statement. He couldn't understand why his son would frame Joong.

"Apart from that, we had also dug deep into Khun Poom. We found that he had wired money to the Mondschein pack that was recently eliminated after the last attack on Joong at Chiang Khan. We had also found evidence that the recent attack at Khajornborirak clan area leads back to Khun Poom." Poom fell to the ground. He looked pleadingly at Dim. Dim looked away as the elite team took him away as he waited for his trial. It was a felony to attack the clan heir. Mai was not spared from her punishment as they dragged her away as well.

Though Sarawat felt sorry for his brother, he was also relieved that the threat against his son was over.

"Let's get back to the matter at hand, I would like to congratulate my son, Joong on finding his true mate- Dunk Natachai." When the elders had mentioned that they need to go through a process to approve Dunk as future clan omega, Sarawat had put a stop to it.

"This is just a formality. They are already mated." The elders gasped at that. They started to voice their disapproval.

"This is not right! He isn't really from the Tangsakyuen clan. He is a rogue omega that is under Khun Pond's guardianship." The disapproval grew louder among the elders after the revelation.

"If the Watthanasetsiri clan was still around, Joong would have rightly mated the omega son of a clan alpha. He was betrothed to him. It was rumoured that he would be a true omega. Only a true omega is fit to be our clan omega." Pond eyes widen at their revelation.

"If that omega is still alive, does he have a right to be Joong's mate?" Pond asked. Phuwin was confused by his question.

"Of course. As the son of a clan alpha, he would have every right." The elders hummed in agreement

"If I were to tell you that Dunk is the son of Earth Pirapat Watthanasetsiri, what will you say?" Everyone in the room gasped. 

 

Chapter 32: The past unveiled

Joong was stunned to find out that his sunflower was actually his betrothal. What were the odds that they met on their own terms and fell in love. It was by the doing of the Moon Goddess that this was possible. He saw Dunk walked up to his Paaw, showing him the picture of his parents and taking off his family signet. Sarawat nodded. He confirmed that Dunk is the son of Watthanasetsiri clan alpha.

"He has to prove that he is a true omega. Only a true omega can shift" Joong was starting to get annoyed with this person who kept opposing but there were too many people in the room to detect who this person was. The elders had agreed with the suggestion. This was the first time Joong saw his Pa's face darken in public. He had asked the waiting staff to grab a large blanket. Tine gestured to Joong, Dunk, Pond and Phuwin to come over as he walked them to a more secluded area of the hall. Sarawat followed closely behind. Joong was mad when he realized that they were asking Dunk to shift in the hall. They couldn't even give him the privacy to shift. Sarawat, Tine, Pond and Phuwin had to bear witness to the shift. The elders were about to protest that they too should bear witness but one death glare from Sarawat did the trick. He had given them enough leeway as it is.

Joong clasped Dunk's hand, hoping to give him the comfort that he needs. Dunk sighed as he took off his clothes. All he had on was his boxers. He took a deep breathe as he willed himself to relax for the shift to happen.

Sarawat, Tine, Pond, and Phuwin were holding the blanket as they waited for Dunk to shift. Even though Phuwin looked calm on the exterior, he was fuming mad at this point. He couldn't believe that his mate had actually kept a secret from him, not just any secret but a secret about Dunk. He thought that with their bond it goes without saying that there should be trust between them. However, the moment he saw Dunk shift, he began to understand where his mate was coming from. There was no privacy within the Tangsakyuen compound. If words were to get out, Dunk would have been sold before they could disagree. Those late night outings between Pond and Dunk began to make sense. Dunk would need to stretch into his true form from time to time.

Joong couldn't believe his eyes at the beautiful wolf in front of him. He was silver with spots of gold like sunburst on his body, which he knew was due to the recent mating. Joong held the blanket in his hand as they revealed Dunk's true form. Everyone in the room was in awe. They had only seen their clan alpha and clan omega in their true form. Joong had rarely appear in public in his true form. It was a rarity among the clan to witness another who can shift.

Dunk suddenly sniffed the air in his wolf form , as if sensing something. Joong was shocked to hear his growl. When he started charging and pushed Green to the ground, he didn't know what to make of it. Green cried in fear as Dunk was on top of him. Joong rushed towards Dunk, covering him with the blanket.

"Come back to me, my sunflower." Dunk didn't shift back fully. His fangs were sticking out, his fingers were claw like as he held on to Green's throat. Joong persuaded him to relax his hold.

"You!! I'd recognize your scent anywhere! Your scent was all over the Watthanasetsiri compound." Dunk had gone back to the compound after the fire. He just couldn't let it go despite Pond's warning. He needed to know who did it and why. He needed to avenge his clan but he didn't have much to go on with. He knew Mondschein was hired for the job. That was how he first got to know about them. They had a very distinct scent due to the work they do but there was a scent around the area of the Watthanasetsiri compound that didn't make sense until now.

"Impossible, I've put on my scent blocker. You couldn't hav-" Green realized his mistake when he saw his mate's eyes widen at his near confession.

"You think that a mere scent blocker would mean anything in my true form?!" Green was stunned. He wasn't wrong since he is wearing scent blocker right now. Everyone in the room is wearing scent blocker but he singled him out in the crowd.

"Why did you do it?! You killed the whole Watthanasetsiri clan! You set it on fire. Why?!" Dunk was about to choke the life out of him if Joong didn't stop him. Green was gasping for air but he was laughing. Dim could barely recognize the man that had been his mate for three decades.

"So that my son can be clan alpha. As long as there is no true omega out there. It's all fair game." Green laughed. He looked towards Dim with hatred in his eyes.

"You're the eldest but yet you are not the clan alpha! I had hope that our son would be a true alpha but that went down the drain. So I needed to get rid of the possibility of Joong ever finding a true omega mate. When that's done all that's left was getting rid of Joong altogether. But our son wasn't smart enough to cover his tracks." Green had laughed bitterly. Dim couldn't believe his ears.

"You poisoned our son for your greed!" Sarawat tried to calm his brother down as he asked the elite team to take Green away.

"My family, my entire clan for the title of clan alpha..." Dunk collapsed to the ground. His cry of despair echoed through the Guntithanon compound. Joong rushed forward to support him as  he blacked out from the emotion that overwhelmed his body. Pond and Phuwin rushed towards them.

Joong was wiping Dunk's face with a wet towel. The doctor said that Dunk was fine. Joong really wondered what he meant by fine. Nothing was fine with what happened. He knew it wasn't anyone's fault but his Uncle Green's but it was all for the Guntithanon clan alpha title. He wondered if his mate will still have the heart to stay with him.

"Don't leave me, my sunflower" He whispered as he hugged Dunk to sleep that night. 

Chapter 33: Don't leave

Joong woke up to an empty bed. Dunk's side was cold. He had left a long time ago. Joong panicked as he rushed out the room. He saw his parents, Pond and Phuwin having breakfast.

"Where is Dunk?"

"No one saw him this morning. We thought he was with you." Phuwin answered.

"I can guess where he is." Pond sighed.

Pond was quiet when he drove them out to find Dunk. Joong didn't know what to say. Pond was part of the Watthanasetsiri clan after all. He didn't know how he feels about Dunk being his mate now after what transpired last night. They were already on shaky terms to begin with.

"As much as I hate your guts, it really isn't your fault. Dunk knows it. He just needs time to grief." Pond said out of the blues. He nodded. They had reach what used to be the Watthanasetsiri compound. It was barren. Joong saw Dunk in his wolf form, curled up on one of the rocks. Looking at the formation, it would have been where the Watthanasetsiri clan house was located. Joong changed out of his clothes and shifted to his wolf form. He was golden with streaks of silver blending in his fur.

He curled around Dunk, his form much bigger than Dunk due to his Alpha genes. Dunk had whined in his wolf form before laying his head back down on the ground. Joong had licked him as his inner alpha groomed him. No words exchanged. They just spent a quiet moment together as Dunk grieved. When Dunk shifted back, Joong wiped the tears away and hugged him.

Pond was still waiting by the car. Dunk ran over to hug him. Pond sighed and kissed the crown of his head.

"It's going to be alright" he whispered. 

Chapter 34: Time to heal

Pond and Dunk were present during Green's execution. Their face expressionless. Phuwin who had never shown public affection had hugged Pond. He knew his mate needed him more than him needing to maintain the façade of a clan leader. Joong had shielded Dunk seconds before Green's death. Poom was not spared.

Sarawat clasped Dim's shoulder. He didn't know how to support his brother. Green and Poom needed to answer for their crime. It wasn't within his power to excuse them, which he honestly didn't want to. But he didn't know how to spare his brother from the suffering he was going through.

Mai was temporarily spared until she gives birth. Dim will have guardianship of the pup. Sarawat hoped that the pup will give his brother new purpose.

Joong had told Dunk that he had a surprise for him. Dunk was curious as to what it was. He felt sorry for the pain that he was putting his mate through. It may have been 7 years but he struggled to move on from his grief.

The car stopped, Dunk got down with him. They were on foot for a distance before Joong told him they have reached their destination. Dunk took in the view. If he thought the Guntithanon clan house garden was beautiful, this was beyond his imagination. It was surreal. It was endless.

"I started building this garden since the last time we met. It has been growing for the past 7 years. For every moment that I missed you, I poured it into this garden. It represents my love for you." Dunk was stunned by his mate's confession.

He squatted down and saw the white rose that omega dad loved, it blended to the rows of light pink rose that his alpha Paaw loved. He saw pink carnation and lavender. The rows of sunflower stood out the most. He laughed. For the first time in days, he laughed. Phi Den had somehow recreated the Watthanasetsiri garden without knowing. A gust of wind blew past him as he saw the flower petals dancing in the wind. In that moment, it was as if his parents and his clan spoke to him. He smiled, finding peace within him that he never had for the past 7 years.

"Khoorp khun na (thank you), Phi Den" Joong was warmed by the smile that graced his mate's face when he thanked him.

He knew that they were finally going to be okay.

Dunk took a video of the garden and sent it to Pond. Pond smiled as he recognized the flowers. Phuwin couldn't help but feel relieved when he saw Pond smile. He laughed when his mate called to him excitedly to show him the video. 

Chapter 35: Finale

Joong and Dunk didn't see the need for a ceremony since they were already mated and happy but the elders had insisted. It was unbecoming of a future clan alpha and omega to not have a mating ceremony.

Dunk really did not expect it to be a traditional ceremony. He couldn't remember if Pond and Phuwin had one. Being a rogue for the past 7 years had made him detached of all of these processes. They went through the whole 9 yard. Dunk had lost count on how many ceremonies they had went through but here they were with yet another, each kneeling in front of a pedestal, their hands in a wai. Tine places the Mong Kol on both Joong and Dunk's head. Both their head pieces were joined by a cotton string, symbolizing the bond that joins them. The guests line up as they each approach them, saying well wishes while pouring water on their hands, from the shell collected from the sea. Everyone wishing them a good life and a good mating.

They had the wedding reception after. Dunk was exhausted by all the ceremonial process but there was one last one to go as Sarawat and Tine greeted them at their mating bed. There were various items placed on the bed, each bearing meaning in it. They were well wishes for the newly-mated. Sarawat and Tine gave their advice and wishes for a lasting mating before leaving them alone. Dunk looked at Joong as Joong caressed his face. Both of them finding it difficult to believe that they were finally together. Joong reached forward for a soft, tender, loving kiss.

"Gu rak meung (I love you)." He whispered.

"Gu rak meung meun gan (I love you too)" Dunk whispered back tenderly.

When the Tangsakyuen elders caught wind of Dunk's mating and the truth of his real identity, they began to question Pond's real identity and what role he played in the Watthanasetsiri clan. Why was he so close to Dunk who is the omega son of the clan alpha? 

Pond had looked sheepishly at Phuwin. He was actually the adopted son of the clan alpha. He didn't know much about his birth parents, only that they were from the Watthanasetsiri clan and that they had passed on very early in his life. The Watthanasetsiri  clan, was a tight knitted clan, so Earth and Mix had decided to adopt him. If the tragedy didn't occur, he would have been next clan alpha, which was why he carried the Watthanasetsiri signet. Earth and Mix had loved him like their son and knew he would be the right alpha for the job. Dunk's carefree nature back then would have made him feel caged in the role as clan leader. 

After learning the truth, the elders no longer question Phuwin's leadership nor do they question their mating. As the next clan alpha of the Watthanasetsiri clan, he would have every right to mate Phuwin. Furthermore, Dunk is now the future clan omega of the Guntithanon clan. They knew that he is protective of Pond and Phuwin, just as they are protective of him. So, it was wiser for them to keep quiet. 

Phuwin could not be happier. He can finally breathe in his role as clan leader. His relationship with Pond could never be better. He gave Pond a sniff kiss when he saw his mate run through some documents supporting him in his role as clan leader. He couldn't help but think how lucky he was to have such a supportive alpha who didn't mind his omega taking on the leadership role. 

Pond looked at him curiously. This was the first time Phuwin allowed his omega out to play, he gave his alpha a playful grin before running out of the room. He could hear his alpha growl as he chased after him. They were in for a passionate night tonight.

Joong and Dunk's fans were elated to know that they were now a mated couple. The story of how they found out that they were actually true mates had them gushing. Paaw Jack had prepared a public version of the story that had their fans swooning. Joong and Paaw Jack had pleaded Dunk to act in another series. One series led to another and another since they were in demand. Dunk had wondered what he signed up for.

Joong and Dunk had just finish shooting another series. They were preparing for another event that they had to attend. Dunk had never given up his training and still preferred his own personal protection. He strapped on the shoulder gun holster. He slid in two guns before putting on his jacket.

Joong can't help but beam with pride as he looked at Dunk.

His mate, his personal omega bodyguard. 

Chapter 36: Special EP: Don't underestimate a gentle alpha

Sarawat huffed as he looked at Som's file. He was a rookie on the elite team. A foolish one at best.

His first downfall was to doubt Dunk.

After Joong and Dunk's mating had been official, Dunk had taken on the duty to overlook the training of the elite team. Joong wasn't too happy about it. He imagined his sunflower being in a room full of alpha. His possessive nature wouldn't allow it. He didn't like the idea of Dunk needing to spar with them as part of the training. He would rather Dunk not spar at all with elite team but if needed, he may spar with those who are mated. That was the line he drew.

The rookies could never understand how the future clan omega could best the established members of the elite team. Som was the one who laughed the loudest, claiming that it was all an act and he could easily defeat Dunk. Man and Boss couldn't hold back their laughter when they heard his bold claim. They had laughed till they had tears in their eyes.

"I'm willing to bet that you can't even touch him." Joong said calmly when he heard Som's bold claim. Dunk raised his eyebrow, Joong winked at him. Dunk huffed and shook his head. He had tolerated Som long enough and to have his mate on his side gave him all the permission to teach this pup a lesson. 

True to Joong's claim, Som couldn't come close to Dunk. He avoided Som's move effortlessly, like he was taunting him. When Dunk had enough fun, he had him in a choke hold.

"What will happen if I applied a bit more pressure?" he whispered to his ears. Som's legs were shaking uncontrollably by then.

The rookies never doubted Dunk ever again.

His second downfall was to doubt Joong

Joong no longer allowed Dunk to oversee the training after they had found out that he was with pups. Sarawat had asked Joong to take over his duties to understand what his mate had been dealing with. He should start to understand his duties as the future clan alpha.

Som didn't learn his lesson. He had ridiculed Joong, saying how he was a weak alpha to wear his omega's bite mark, he didn't see how he can be future clan alpha. He challenged Joong to a sparring session. Sarawat had tried to hide his smile. Dunk had been sparring with Joong for a while. He wanted to make sure that his mate was capable of protect himself, so it wasn't a question of whether he can or cannot defeat Som. 

Sometimes, Sarawat wondered if Joong had specifically tried to lose to Dunk so that he pampers him after. He is his son after all. Sarawat knows that he does it with Tine. He couldn't help but think of his bunny. He missed the moment when Joong puts Som in his place. It was just within a matter of seconds. His son was never a patient man to begin with. His bunny would say that he learns it from him.

His third downfall was not admitting defeat- choosing to speak ill of Dunk in front of Joong.

Som was a sore loser. When he couldn't best Joong physically, he attacked him with words. He claimed that Joong didn't know how to put Dunk in his place. He didn't see how Dunk was fit to be the future clan omega. He was sure that Dunk would know what it meant to be an omega if he was his alpha.

His ultimate downfall was to forget that Joong is a true alpha.

Joong had shifted into his true form, not a care that his clothes were torn to shreds. He was on top of Som within seconds. Joong was huge in his true form, being the alpha that he is. Som had wet himself when Joong growled at him. Joong was so close to attacking him but something stopped him.

Joong raised his head suddenly. His ear twitched. He got off Som. His tongue lolled to the side as he trotted out of the room still in his true form. Sarawat rolled his eyes. A fierce alpha a second ago before becoming the love sick puppy that he is. Dunk must have felt his anger through their bond and had called out to him.

Well, it couldn't be helped. He would have to banish Som from their clan. Too many offenses as it is. The biggest offense is his disrespectful behaviour towards the future clan alpha and omega. He cannot afford to have a lose cannon like him in the clan. 

Tine walked into his office.

"You finally decided to banish him? Dunk had complained about him before bearing pups but he felt it wasn't his place to kick him out of the elite team." Tine sat on Sarawat's lap

"I wanted to see how our son will handle him. I think it's sufficient to say that the elite team will not doubt him as the future clan alpha." Sarawat said as he laid a kiss on Tine's lips.

"All that's left now is to wait for the pups to arrive. Can you believe that Dunk is having triplets? Do you think that Dunk and Phuwin will give birth at the same time? Imagine all 5 pups together" Sarawat couldn't help but smile at his mate's joy.

"Should we also have another pup to round up the number?" Sarawat whispered to Tine's ear before raining kisses down his neck.

"Wat..." Tine had every intention of scolding Sarawat but it came out as a moan as Sarawat sucked on his mating bite. He didn't complain when his mate carried him to their room for a night of passion.
