Chapter 1: Chapter 1

Chapter Text

Volleyball. A sport I wasn’t familiar with, and dint think I ever would. Until my lovely professor challenged me to write an article about our college's volleyball team for some extra credit. It was my fault really, as I had asked him if I Could do ay extra work to boost my grade. I should’ve expected his suggestion, he was a big fan of volleyball, and we had a strong team.

Nonetheless, I would’ve been happier with any other topic that doesn’t include interviewing sweaty boys with huge egos that take up on themselves to sleep with as many girls as possible while being in college. I don’t judge them, really, I just made up my mind to stay as far away as possible from them when I saw them at a random college party.

I huffed exhausted as I stared at my blank laptop screen. I wanted to prepare questions to ask the volleyball team, but I couldn’t concentrate. I was currently sitting in the living room on the couch. I shared an apartment with my friend Maki who I met back in middle school, and we’ve been inseparable since.

“Whats with all the sighing? “Maki asked me when she came out of her room and plopped beside me on the couch.

“Can’t concentrate. “I said and shut my laptop to place it on the coffee table. The topic has me more riled up than usual and I didn’t even know why it bothered me so much. Guess I just really wanted to avoid any interaction with the infamous volleyball team, known to be a bunch of hot popular guys with nothing in mind besides partying and sex.

“Then I got just the right thing! “Maki claimed excited and stood up. “We’re going out! Ive been invited to a frat Party today. Since it’s Friday and we don’t have any classes tomorrow you can’t refuse. “She explained with a determined look in her eyes.

I sighed knowing I can’t argue with her once she got that look on her face. I don’t dislike parties in general, but I need like 3 weeks notice to mentally prepare myself for that.

“Alright, but you’ll do my hair. “I said with a smile as she dragged me to her room.

We got ready while listening to music and Maki told me she got invited by Aran, a boy he currently talks to. The name sound familiar to me but I couldn’t pinpoint when or where I’ve heard it, so I didn’t pay any more attention to it.

When the Uber dropped us off the Party was already full on going. Drunk students were scattered around the house smoking cigarettes and chatting with each other as we made our way inside the house. Once inside Maki and tried to make our way through the large crowd to get into the kitchen. The music was blasting and scrunched my nose at the smell of sweat and cigarettes.
We both grabbed a beer and Maki took my hand to guide me where Aran should be. She said he had texted her earlier that we should come to him once we’ve arrived.
What I didn’t expect was walking straight towards the volleyball team that all lingered around the couches. I couldn’t say anything because as soon as I opened my mouth to protest Maki abruptly stopped and let go of my hand to hug a tall boy. He was Huge compared to us with brown skin and a buy cut.

“This is Aran. “Maki said and turned around to face me. Aran had a warm smile on his face as he reached his hand for me take it. I accepted it and told him my name.

“Nice to finally meet you. Maki couldn’t shut up about her awesome roommate. “Aran let out a small laugh. I nodded with a small smile unable to form any words out of shock.

“You didn’t tell me he was an athlete. “I whispered to Maki and nudged her with my elbow. She knew I’d kept my distance from these guys and no I found myself standing right in front of them.

“Sorry babe, but I knew you wouldn’t have come otherwise. And the guys are actually quite nice. Just stay for an hour and if you’re still not convinced, we can leave. “Maki looked at me with those puppy eyes I can’t argue with, and I sighed defeated. She gave me a kiss on the cheek and tugged at my arm to join the group. As I looked around a person with dark hair and emerald green eyes caught my eye. He was leaning against the wall with a red cup in his hand talking to blonde haired guy. With his hooded eyes and bored expression, he looked as out of place as I did. The blonde guy said something and started laughing, causing the green eyed one to roll his eyes and his gaze landed on me. Feeling like I’ve been caught I quickly looked away and tried to calm my racing heart. It was a stupid reaction from my body which caused me to feel extremely hot.

In the following hour a tried to avoid the green-eyed guy. Something about him intrigued me and I didn’t want to explore further. Here and there I sneaked a glance but somehow, he always caught me and refused to look away. Anytime he approached us I quickly ran to the bathroom or to the kitchen. It was childish, I knew that, but I couldn’t help myself from running away what pulls me in.
Aran also introduced us to a couple of his friends and fellow volleyball teammates named Osamu and Kita. Osamu ran out of his beer, as did I, and I offered to bring us another one.

Just as I turned around the corner to enter the kitchen, I bumped into someone causing his drink to splatter over my dress and his grey hoodie.

“Shit. Im sorry, I should’ve-“I said as I tried to excuse myself, but I stopped once my eyes travelled up and met emerald green orbs. The guy I had been running away had a frown on his face as he looked at my dress, but it softened once he looked in my eyes.

“Come. Let’s clean you up quick before it stains.” He said and grabbed my wrist before I could argue with him. He dragged me upstairs and opened a door, revealing a bathroom. He let go of my wrist and looked the door only to turn around and search something in a cabinet.
I awkwardly stood there and fidgeted with my fingers. “You know, its no big deal. I can do it myself.” I said when he finally stood in front of me with a stain remover.
“It was my fault for bumping into you. Also, I would hate it for me to make such a mess on your pretty dress.” He said with a small grin, barely visible but I noticed it anyways when I looked up. He was tall, really tall. Towering over me with his muscular and athletic frame causing me to gulp and to look away.
I nodded slowly and he gestured me to sit on the edge of the bathtub. He was kneeling down and my stupid heart started racing again at the sight of him on his knees in front of me.
“Lift up your dress a bit.” He commanded with a rough voice causing me to blush a little. I did as he asked and he began applying the spray on it.
“I’m Suna by the way. Suna Rintaro.” He said while rubbing in the chemical with a towel.

“Y/N.” I mumbled and looked at his long fingers gently rubbing the towel on my dress. He had the sleeves of his hoodie pulled up, revealing his veiny and muscular arm. A couple of rings decorated the slender fingers making me imagine all sorts of things he could do with them.

“So, Y/N” he started saying, snapping me out of my daydreams about his fingers. “Why have you been avoiding me?” He asked without looking t my face, a concentrated look on his face as he tried to fix my dress. My breath hitched at his remark noting I’ve been caught.

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I mumbled quietly. His movement stopped and he quickly glanced up to look at my face. His eyes bounced between mine, gliding down to my lips and back to my eyes.
“Did we hook up once?” He asked asked casually as if it was nothing. My eyes widened at his question.

“What? No!” I quickly said and turned my head away. He hands came to a halt and he placed the towel on the floor. It seems the stain has disappeared, and I turned to look at him. I opened my mouth to thank him but got interrupted when he placed both of his hands on dangerously close to my thighs on the edge of the bathtub. He got up a little and was looking down at me, his face dangerously close. So close I couldn’t smell his intoxicating cologne and I held my breath.

“So why is it that every time I looked at you today, I caught you already looking at me? You quickly turning around with a cute blush on those cheeks?” He said and leaned down to my ear, his breath tickling my neck as he continued to speak. “And running away from me, like a scared kitten, every time I approached you? Hm?” His deep voice vibrated in my head, and I subconsciously pressed my thighs together to ease my aching clit.

“I wasn’t running away. And I’m no scared kitten.” I said with a trembling voice. God, it was so stupid how my body reacted to his presence. He wasn’t even touching me, and I was already embarrassingly wet.

Suna chuckled and stood up, burying his hands in the pocket of his pants with a grin on his face. “Sure, kitten.” He said with a cocky grin that made my blood boil. He was making a fun out of me.

I ignored his pet name for me and got up to grab my purse. “Thanks for the help with my dress.” I said and unlocked the bathroom door. I stepped outside and slammed the door shut with a little more force than needed and headed back to the party.
